70 per 80, the 7080 .it section that deepens
• 0:45
the topics discussed on the portal. I am with
• 0:47
journalist Enzo Mauri, who introduces the current
• 0:51
topic. Good morning, today I am going to talk
• 0:52
about a classic horror. On July 16, 1958, the
• 0:57
sci -fi movie The Fly was released in the United
• 1:00
States, entitled in Italy the Dr. K experiment.
• 1:03
Out of curiosity about the film, we have selected
• 1:06
the most interesting ones. Italy was the only
• 1:08
country in in which the film was distributed
• 1:10
with the title The Dr. K Experiment instead of
• 1:13
the fly. The myth about Orphosi, who was the
• 1:15
subject of the protagonist, in fact reminded
• 1:17
the homonymous story of Frank Kafka about a man
• 1:19
who woke up transformed into a huge insect. This
• 1:23
explains the Dr. K of the title. I will never
• 1:37
forget those screams as long as I live. It is
• 1:39
said that the producer and director, Kurt Neumann,
• 1:42
had read on the magazine for only Playboy men
• 1:44
the story of George Langeland from whom he would
• 1:47
have taken inspiration for the film. The film
• 1:50
is the story of a Canadian scientist, André Delambre,
• 1:52
the actor David Edison, transformed into a grotesque
• 1:56
creature after a fly was introduced into the
• 1:58
molecular transformer that the man was experimenting,
• 2:01
mixing his atoms with those of the insect. He
• 2:03
committed a murder no less than he committed
• 2:05
the... One killed a fly with the head of a man
• 2:08
and the other a man with the head of a fly. For
• 2:10
the fly, the makeup artist Benjamin Nye made
• 2:12
a mask of almost 10 kg and a prosthesis for the
• 2:16
arm. David Edison confessed that trying to recite
• 2:19
was like trying to play the piano with boxing
• 2:22
gloves. Vincent Price plays the fly in the role
• 2:25
of François Delambre, the protagonist's brother.
• 2:28
Years later, he confessed that the voice of the
• 2:29
fly man in the dramatic final sequence aroused
• 2:33
in him an irrepressible hilarity, so much so
• 2:35
that it would take 20 chucks to complete the
• 2:37
scene. The experiment of Dr. K had two consequences,
• 3:09
the sale of Dr. K in 1959 and the curse of the
• 3:14
1965 fly until the famous remake of 1986. On
• 3:22
August 15, 1986, it was released in the American
• 3:26
and American theaters The Fly, directed by David
• 3:28
Cronenberg with Jeff Goldblum in the role of
• 3:30
scientist Seth Brandol and Gina Davis in the
• 3:33
role of journalist Veronica Quaife. The film
• 3:36
had a huge public success and critics, raising
• 3:38
more than 60 million dollars in front of a budget
• 3:41
of only 9. Yet not everyone knows that the film
• 3:43
was produced by Mel Brooks, attracted by a fascinating
• 3:47
subject, a bit different from the canons of the
• 3:49
comedy on which the film was based. The success
• 3:51
of the music was largely due to the script completely
• 3:54
rewritten by David Cronenberg on the basis of
• 3:57
the original, directed by Charles Edward Spong.
• 4:05
The mind of André was upset and Enga tried to
• 4:09
stop him. But the flower in the film's eye were
• 4:12
the special effects, and in particular the trick
• 4:14
made by Chris Wallace, who won an Oscar in 1987.
• 4:19
The actor Jeff Goldblum was subjected to seven
• 4:21
phases distinct from the trick for the transformation,
• 4:24
which took many hours of work. The same Chris
• 4:27
Wallace directed the 1989 sequel, The Fly 2.
