- 1:46Speaker 6: All right, let's get to our guy, Nick Underhill, New
- 1:49Speaker 6: Orleans and dot football joins us every single Tuesday at
- 1:52Speaker 6: nine a m. And well, big day yesterday for the
- 1:56Speaker 6: New Orleans Saints, and so I'm sure he has been
- 1:58Speaker 6: working fast and fear glad to have your own Nicholas.
- 2:02Speaker 5: How you doing, sir? Doing great?
- 2:04Speaker 2: Are you guys?
- 2:05Speaker 5: Are you guys doing? We're doing fantastic.
- 2:07Speaker 6: I don't think I've ever been as excited to see
- 2:09Speaker 6: a guard get signed as I have.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Over the last twenty four hours. For the New Orleans Saints.
- 2:14Speaker 6: It was a position of desperate need and you go
- 2:17Speaker 6: get the top guy on the market and you get
- 2:19Speaker 6: him for a pretty nice price.
- 2:20Speaker 3: There. What a win for Mickey Loomis and the Saints.
- 2:25Speaker 5: Yeah, no, it's huge.
- 2:27Speaker 2: All right, I'm hearing myself back through here, and and
- 2:30Speaker 2: I can't.
- 2:32Speaker 5: I can't talk right now, can you guys, call.
- 2:34Speaker 6: Me on the way. We'll call you on the phone. Yeah,
- 2:36Speaker 6: we'll call you. We'll make sure we go. We'll get
- 2:38Speaker 6: that done. He's like allowed myself to hear myself. What's
- 2:45Speaker 6: going on with our tech?
- 2:47Speaker 3: Ever since we put in these new cough drops.
- 2:53Speaker 5: They looked very flustered.
- 2:54Speaker 3: He looked like he had seen a ghost.
- 2:58Speaker 5: He heard his voice for the first time. I feel
- 3:02Speaker 5: every time I hear my voice.
- 3:03Speaker 6: Well, so I when I first when I first moved here,
- 3:07Speaker 6: I still did my Shreveport show before it was syndicated,
- 3:12Speaker 6: Like I just I did it, and then I do
- 3:13Speaker 6: this show, and I used to do it down in
- 3:14Speaker 6: the old ESPN studio. Well, they could never figure out
- 3:18Speaker 6: why I was getting feedback, so I would actually the
- 3:20Speaker 6: entire show. I would hear feedback on a one second
- 3:23Speaker 6: delay from what I was saying. So I was doing
- 3:27Speaker 6: it where I'd say something, take the headphone off, and
- 3:30Speaker 6: then put it back on. I did that for like months,
- 3:32Speaker 6: and they told me they couldn't figure it out.
- 3:35Speaker 5: It feels like an easy fix. Yeah, there's a new
- 3:38Speaker 5: updated chord.
- 3:39Speaker 6: They never did. But anyways, we got Nick Underhill Newman's
- 3:42Speaker 6: Football with us. Now Nicholas how you doing, glad we
- 3:44Speaker 6: got you on the phone. Sorry about that.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Uh.
- 3:46Speaker 6: The New Orleans Saints sign a guard and they desperately
- 3:49Speaker 6: needed to sign a guard. They got the best guard
- 3:51Speaker 6: available and they got him for a pretty good price.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Yeah. No, definitely like one of those moves that just
- 3:56Speaker 2: makes you feel better about the whole entire operation. And
- 4:01Speaker 2: I don't think David Edwards is like a savior. I
- 4:04Speaker 2: don't think he's a top ten guard in the NFL
- 4:06Speaker 2: or anything like that.
- 4:06Speaker 4: Like I think he's really good.
- 4:07Speaker 2: I think he's the right age.
- 4:08Speaker 4: I think he's a very.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Good player, but just like in terms of what was
- 4:12Speaker 2: available out there, he was the premier piece, and I
- 4:15Speaker 2: think you go get him, and I think what he
- 4:16Speaker 2: does is that it's a definitive problem solver. It works,
- 4:21Speaker 2: It's you don't have to worry about guard anymore. If
- 4:23Speaker 2: that's like he thrives in the system and all that stuff,
- 4:26Speaker 2: and you know, fits in a launch some other guys
- 4:28Speaker 2: and they become a really good group. But it just
- 4:32Speaker 2: feels like the guy at that right age, at that
- 4:34Speaker 2: right price, at that right talent level, where like all
- 4:36Speaker 2: the accesses met and you go out and you get
- 4:38Speaker 2: them and it's not like a reckless signing. It's it's
- 4:41Speaker 2: it's foundational, it's it's the right timeline, it's all these things,
- 4:45Speaker 2: and and I just you know, that's the spot where
- 4:48Speaker 2: I don't want him to play around. Looks like you
- 4:49Speaker 2: can't afford to have those kind of variances there when
- 4:52Speaker 2: you're trying to get a rookieker. Well, now it's teching
- 4:54Speaker 2: your quarterback settled in. And you know, I think he
- 4:56Speaker 2: egoes a long way toward doing that. And in terms
- 4:59Speaker 2: of passpro, like sujer Reeves's issues aren't really in past pro.
- 5:03Speaker 2: I think he's decent there. It's the run blocking with
- 5:05Speaker 2: them that that needs to be way way better. So
- 5:07Speaker 2: I think, like past pro all five, if Banks takes
- 5:11Speaker 2: that step that you're you're looking for him to take,
- 5:13Speaker 2: if Fuaugus Sting's healthy, Edwards it's McCoy's I guess. I
- 5:17Speaker 2: guess as we're going through it, there's still a decent
- 5:19Speaker 2: amount of ifs. But I think overall, like the pieces
- 5:22Speaker 2: of that for them to actually be pretty good, and
- 5:24Speaker 2: you're not putting in your hopes to Trevor Penning anymore,
- 5:26Speaker 2: who I can't believe he signed on day one a
- 5:28Speaker 2: free agency by the way, But yeah, I think I
- 5:31Speaker 2: think that that was a huge move for them, Like
- 5:33Speaker 2: it's it's shifting it and it settles like the most
- 5:36Speaker 2: unsettling spot on the team.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Yeah, Nick, So I'm watching I think I was watched
- 5:39Speaker 3: Pat McAfee yesterday while I was sitting in my office
- 5:41Speaker 3: and I'm watching, like just the news flood in, like
- 5:44Speaker 3: there was something happen in every thirty seconds, it seemed
- 5:47Speaker 3: like and like to my shock in all and and
- 5:52Speaker 3: I was very happy about it. Like a lot of
- 5:54Speaker 3: Saints news came in within that first hour. So the
- 5:56Speaker 3: Saints make three, I least three moves like within that
- 6:00Speaker 3: first hour, which tells me they got they identified somebody
- 6:04Speaker 3: that position, they made the move, they made the offer
- 6:07Speaker 3: and signed their first choice. And there's we just talked
- 6:10Speaker 3: about David Edwards at guard a punter, Ryan right, and
- 6:13Speaker 3: then Travis Etn of course at running back. So it's
- 6:16Speaker 3: like it to me, it seems like they identified somebody
- 6:19Speaker 3: the top on their list and they got it done
- 6:21Speaker 3: within the first hour of this thing.
- 6:22Speaker 5: Open it up.
- 6:23Speaker 3: So is that how you like saw the whole thing
- 6:27Speaker 3: going down yesterday?
- 6:29Speaker 2: Yeah? Actually, yeah, I mean, like those those are the
- 6:31Speaker 2: two guys leaving the combine that that we really felt
- 6:33Speaker 2: like these these are the guys that are gonna end
- 6:35Speaker 2: up go getting is Uh at the end and Edwards
- 6:39Speaker 2: were the two guys that I thought they would definitely target.
- 6:42Speaker 2: The punter surprised me. It's like going out and getting
- 6:44Speaker 2: right that that didn't That wasn't necessarily something that I was.
- 6:47Speaker 5: There was like four punters like the first hour yesterday.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Yeah, like Gillikim was one of them, and that's something
- 6:53Speaker 2: that they absolutely had to do though, like that that's
- 6:56Speaker 2: gonna be if he's the guy he was in Minnesota. Like,
- 6:59Speaker 2: I think you just solved one of your other biggest problems.
- 7:02Speaker 2: The way they approach special teams last year was embarrassing.
- 7:04Speaker 2: And that's a whole different conversation. But yeah, look, the
- 7:08Speaker 2: running back I think makes a ton of sense too.
- 7:11Speaker 4: And I think the thing.
- 7:12Speaker 2: That that makes the most sense here is well here
- 7:15Speaker 2: let me ask you guys this, going back to twenty
- 7:17Speaker 2: twenty two, how many thirty yard runs do you think
- 7:19Speaker 2: the Saints have had by a running back?
- 7:21Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh, by a running back, I would say
- 7:25Speaker 3: less than five. It feels like, I mean, I know
- 7:27Speaker 3: that number is incredibly low.
- 7:29Speaker 5: But the way that question is one one okay wow.
- 7:33Speaker 2: And the runner was odric Es today. So there are
- 7:38Speaker 2: one thirty yard run since twenty twenty two, and you know,
- 7:43Speaker 2: at the end and he's got twelve over the same sping,
- 7:45Speaker 2: he's got a seventy yarder, So I think you get
- 7:47Speaker 2: a home run hitter there. So that's that's one part
- 7:49Speaker 2: of it. And then the other thing too is last year,
- 7:52Speaker 2: I think a lot of Tuesday mornings we were talking
- 7:54Speaker 2: about the wrong game, and the thing I kept staying is, boy,
- 7:57Speaker 2: they keep trying to run inside zone from shotgun and
- 7:59Speaker 2: that's it's not Alvin Kamares game. If you do the
- 8:01Speaker 2: breakdown to all his runs by type and formation, and
- 8:05Speaker 2: that that's his absolute worst run. It's it's the thing
- 8:08Speaker 2: at the end does best like he's excellent at that,
- 8:12Speaker 2: and that's where he thrives from. So I think, you know,
- 8:15Speaker 2: to your point, like that identified a guy that fit
- 8:18Speaker 2: and then they go out and get them, which yeah,
- 8:19Speaker 2: obviously that that's what you should be doing. But you
- 8:21Speaker 2: know a lot of times in pre agency you see
- 8:23Speaker 2: people just making splashes and going for guys, and you know,
- 8:26Speaker 2: they just collect players and kind of hope for the best.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Like I think the Saints are being aggressive, but I
- 8:30Speaker 2: think they're being really smart about it too, And like
- 8:32Speaker 2: it just feels a little bit tailored made all the
- 8:34Speaker 2: way across the board, and you know, it's gonna be
- 8:36Speaker 2: interesting to see how those two fit together. You know,
- 8:39Speaker 2: I think that there's a very tailored role for album
- 8:42Speaker 2: where I think he can still be a very, very
- 8:44Speaker 2: excellent player. You know, you kind of get him in
- 8:46Speaker 2: those right spots. The outside zone is what he's really
- 8:49Speaker 2: good at. Get him out there and that I think
- 8:51Speaker 2: you can put both those guys on the field and
- 8:53Speaker 2: kind of create some stuff formationally, And now you got
- 8:56Speaker 2: two tight ends too with with Juwan and Fant. I
- 8:59Speaker 2: think there's a lot of stuff you can do to
- 9:01Speaker 2: open up the field with those guys and kind of
- 9:03Speaker 2: get the personnel out there on defense that you want
- 9:05Speaker 2: and then dictate some of the auction. So I think
- 9:08Speaker 2: it just opens up a lot of creativity. But also,
- 9:10Speaker 2: like the Olvin situation, you know, I don't know for
- 9:13Speaker 2: a reason he leaves, we shouldn't or if you're trying
- 9:15Speaker 2: to connect dots because he's twenty nine. But like the
- 9:18Speaker 2: way they handled this contract and then bringing in this
- 9:21Speaker 2: guy like it it looks it looks you know, there's
- 9:23Speaker 2: at least as a reporter, you got to say, huh,
- 9:26Speaker 2: like I wonder what's going on here, Like.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Is there something going on?
- 9:28Speaker 2: Sometimes there's not. Often there's not, but it certainly has
- 9:32Speaker 2: a rock there now that I'm trying to look on
- 9:35Speaker 2: her and figure out what's going on, Like, it does
- 9:36Speaker 2: feel different. So we'll kind of see how that goes.
- 9:41Speaker 2: But yeah, I think with those two guys, I think
- 9:43Speaker 2: your offense has changed. And then on top of that,
- 9:45Speaker 2: like man, one of the things they really did great
- 9:47Speaker 2: last year I thought was was attacking up the seams
- 9:49Speaker 2: like that was that was the play every time they
- 9:51Speaker 2: came out in the third quarter. It's like, wow, why
- 9:53Speaker 2: are they all of a sudden moving the ball And
- 9:55Speaker 2: it's like they just started viciously attacking them teams. And
- 9:58Speaker 2: I think you got too of those guys now with
- 10:00Speaker 2: Fan and Juwan. The thing I like about don't again
- 10:04Speaker 2: with the whole fit thing. That was the guy they
- 10:06Speaker 2: were trying to sign last year. They brought him in
- 10:08Speaker 2: for a visit and he just ended up picking since
- 10:09Speaker 2: Cincinnati instead, So like, you know, it's a guy you
- 10:13Speaker 2: identified that was available nine a year later, like he's
- 10:16Speaker 2: still you know, on your radar as a guy. It
- 10:19Speaker 2: wasn't just like a we need it tight and it
- 10:21Speaker 2: was like, no, they actually like this guy and they're
- 10:23Speaker 2: bringing him in four point five forty many years ago.
- 10:25Speaker 2: But I mean that's a lot of speed, he blocks,
- 10:28Speaker 2: he's a solid receiver. So I think I think now
- 10:32Speaker 2: just your offense isn't just all eleven personnel, or when
- 10:35Speaker 2: you go twelve it isn't you know, you got one
- 10:37Speaker 2: tight on that can catch a pass. Like I think
- 10:39Speaker 2: there's a lot of stuff they can do now.
- 10:41Speaker 6: Nick Underhill New Ones dot Football as our guest here
- 10:43Speaker 6: on OTB. All right, so after free agency now we're
- 10:48Speaker 6: kind of turning our attention maybe to the draft, and
- 10:50Speaker 6: they're still going to be more in free agency certainly,
- 10:52Speaker 6: but after day one, what does that do for the
- 10:56Speaker 6: same draft we were talking about it a little bit earlier.
- 10:58Speaker 6: I know there's teams that are certainly right behind in
- 11:00Speaker 6: New Orleans that have major positions of need that the
- 11:03Speaker 6: Saints also kind of have a need there, and so
- 11:06Speaker 6: they could be a team that teams could try to
- 11:08Speaker 6: call it to try to trade with in the draft,
- 11:10Speaker 6: just not Mickey's m O. We know that, but we're
- 11:12Speaker 6: talking about maybe Monsieur de Laine out of LSU. Maybe
- 11:15Speaker 6: corner you lose Alante Taylor there, you need somebody that's
- 11:18Speaker 6: the top tier corner. Where do you think they turned
- 11:20Speaker 6: their attention to coming up in April?
- 11:23Speaker 2: Yeah, he becomes more interesting. He was always someone that
- 11:26Speaker 2: I you know, he's not next, like, he's definitely in
- 11:29Speaker 2: that bubble of guys you're looking at at eight. So
- 11:32Speaker 2: I can see that for sure, you know, I do
- 11:34Speaker 2: think what I've heard is that their preference for there's
- 11:39Speaker 2: slot players that is more of a safety text that
- 11:41Speaker 2: they wanted to be more of like a you know,
- 11:43Speaker 2: an overhand type player that can do some stuff there.
- 11:46Speaker 2: So I don't know how that attects things. But if
- 11:49Speaker 2: you can get a top tier corner, like I think
- 11:51Speaker 2: there's room for competition, even as much as that I
- 11:54Speaker 2: like Calloyd and Quincy Riley like, I think there's definitely competition,
- 11:57Speaker 2: even if it's just just some of those outside spots.
- 11:59Speaker 2: So my door will be open to that. My door
- 12:02Speaker 2: is wide open to sunny styles, especially now you know
- 12:05Speaker 2: that the Mario's gone.
- 12:08Speaker 4: You know, look, I don't think it closes the door to.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Anything, honestly, Like I would still all the guys I
- 12:14Speaker 2: was looking at before, I'm still looking at And if
- 12:16Speaker 2: you think Jeremiah Love is far and away the best player,
- 12:19Speaker 2: like just drafted, who cares if you already got two guys.
- 12:21Speaker 2: One of them's out of here in a year twenty seventeen.
- 12:23Speaker 2: They signed Adrian Peterson. They had mark Ingram in his
- 12:27Speaker 2: prime new contract. I think he signed that in fifteen,
- 12:30Speaker 2: so he's still on a fresh deal. And they didn't
- 12:33Speaker 2: just draft out and they traded back in to get them,
- 12:35Speaker 2: and you know that worked out pretty well too, So
- 12:38Speaker 2: just get the absolute best player you can. I think
- 12:40Speaker 2: they're in a position now where they can really do
- 12:42Speaker 2: that in the first two rounds. I don't think you're
- 12:44Speaker 2: pigeonholed to anything, but I think you're still wide open
- 12:47Speaker 2: enough that you can do anything. I think they're kind
- 12:49Speaker 2: of in an advantageous situation in terms of building because
- 12:53Speaker 2: like it isn't how you got to get to tackle.
- 12:55Speaker 2: You know, going to trade up a week before the
- 12:58Speaker 2: draft and we're just gonna take whatever it's and it's
- 13:00Speaker 2: Trevor Penning, like you know, you don't you don't need
- 13:02Speaker 2: to approach it like that. So I think they can
- 13:05Speaker 2: still kind of do anything. You know, I badly need
- 13:08Speaker 2: the the the wide receiver still, I think that's that's
- 13:11Speaker 2: a major need. But I think they can do anything.
- 13:13Speaker 2: But yeah, I like delaying there quite a bit. I mean,
- 13:15Speaker 2: I think that's a position where they can get a
- 13:17Speaker 2: lot better at.
- 13:19Speaker 4: And I was definitely surprised that a want they.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Got twenty million a year. But good for him. I
- 13:24Speaker 2: just don't think he was worth that to the Saints.
- 13:27Speaker 3: What kind of deal do you think the Saints offered
- 13:29Speaker 3: to Mario Davis to stay?
- 13:32Speaker 2: Well, I don't think. I don't think they probably overextended
- 13:36Speaker 2: themselves too much. I mean, eleven millions a decent amount,
- 13:39Speaker 2: but it's not that that's not a number. If you
- 13:42Speaker 2: pulled me a week ago, I wouldn't have thought it
- 13:44Speaker 2: was preventative. I'm not gonna lie, like, I'm really surprised
- 13:47Speaker 2: he went to the Jets, like I thought. I thought
- 13:50Speaker 2: he was gonna lead, but I thought it was going
- 13:51Speaker 2: to be the like the Rams or something like that.
- 13:53Speaker 2: The Jets was was surprising to me. So I mean
- 13:56Speaker 2: that that kind of tells me a couple of things
- 13:58Speaker 2: like I don't think that they were fighting to keep
- 14:00Speaker 2: them too too art Like I think they wanted to
- 14:02Speaker 2: keep them. But you know, they can say whatever they
- 14:05Speaker 2: want at a podium, but like your actions or your
- 14:07Speaker 2: actions and your actions are the truth. And you know,
- 14:09Speaker 2: they didn't want to go to twelve million dollars a
- 14:11Speaker 2: year or whatever. And it's tough, like you know, if
- 14:15Speaker 2: you're a team in their situation, like it's it's I
- 14:19Speaker 2: don't know.
- 14:19Speaker 4: It's just kind of hard to articulate because like I.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Don't want to sound like I'm coming down on him
- 14:24Speaker 2: or anything like that. Like a great player, great locker
- 14:26Speaker 2: room guy, Hall of Famer, Ring of Honor, Saints Hall
- 14:28Speaker 2: of Famer, can'ton Like I really think he's done enough
- 14:31Speaker 2: to get into the actual Hall of Fame. You know,
- 14:33Speaker 2: I think he's you know, people I've watched just my
- 14:37Speaker 2: actual lifetime, Like I can't go back to the seventies
- 14:40Speaker 2: and you know, all these great linebackers back down, but
- 14:42Speaker 2: in my lifetime, a top five linebacker. I also think
- 14:45Speaker 2: if you're a team that's in the middle of a rebuild,
- 14:47Speaker 2: if they had signed a thirty seven year old that
- 14:50Speaker 2: played for a different team, we.
- 14:52Speaker 4: Would have been like what are they doing?
- 14:53Speaker 2: You know, like I know it's your own guy, so
- 14:55Speaker 2: it's a little bit different. But I'd rather object.
- 14:58Speaker 4: A year earlyer than a year late, like where they're at.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Right now, you know, in twenty eighteen, if if you're
- 15:02Speaker 2: a super Bowl contender, like I'd rather be maybe late
- 15:06Speaker 2: on some of those things then early, because you're you're
- 15:08Speaker 2: trying to maximize your your today. But I think the
- 15:11Speaker 2: saint's got to be thinking about tomorrow as well as
- 15:13Speaker 2: today right now. And you know, I just don't know.
- 15:15Speaker 2: I don't know what year two of that looks like.
- 15:17Speaker 2: And you drafted Danny Stutsman.
- 15:19Speaker 4: You're trying to get him in there.
- 15:20Speaker 2: You're trying to see what he looks like. So I mean,
- 15:22Speaker 2: like there's things that makes sense here to me. And
- 15:24Speaker 2: I also at the same time, I think it's a
- 15:27Speaker 2: catastrophic loss just in terms of like identity, you know,
- 15:32Speaker 2: because it's can still a free agent too, like if both.
- 15:34Speaker 4: Those guys leave, like who are you? Who are your leaders?
- 15:37Speaker 2: Like you got read and you know, I don't think
- 15:39Speaker 2: there's anyone else like.
- 15:40Speaker 4: That that I that I really look at.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Is this guy's a leader on the team most times
- 15:44Speaker 2: of the ball pots from Moreau was like the leader
- 15:46Speaker 2: of the offense. You know, I don't know if he's
- 15:48Speaker 2: coming back now that they got fan, So I don't
- 15:51Speaker 2: know where the leadership is at all on this team
- 15:53Speaker 2: right now. So I mean, I think that's a bigger
- 15:55Speaker 2: deal to me than maybe the the the on field.
- 15:57Speaker 2: I think you can replace the onfield, you know, I
- 16:00Speaker 2: think they'll obviously be a little bit worse.
- 16:02Speaker 4: I think I think there's.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Probably a reality where if their lock backers don't work out,
- 16:05Speaker 2: like their run defense could be a disaster because like
- 16:08Speaker 2: their front wasn't great and they were winning a lot
- 16:10Speaker 2: on run defense because to Mario is so great at
- 16:12Speaker 2: diagnosing and anticipating.
- 16:16Speaker 1: You know.
- 16:16Speaker 2: But I don't think the range is quite there the
- 16:18Speaker 2: way it was either. It's like, you know, I don't
- 16:20Speaker 2: think he allowed a lot of bleeding. That like when
- 16:22Speaker 2: he allowed bleeding, it probably bled a little bit more
- 16:24Speaker 2: than then it than it should have, you know, And
- 16:27Speaker 2: we'll to see where that access goes going for But look,
- 16:29Speaker 2: if he told me he gets another two year deal
- 16:31Speaker 2: after this one, I would absolutely believe it. Because of
- 16:33Speaker 2: the way he takes care of his body, the way
- 16:36Speaker 2: he prepares all that stuff, and you know, I think
- 16:39Speaker 2: I think even is that going back like to what's
- 16:42Speaker 2: lost Like that example, I think is a huge loss,
- 16:44Speaker 2: even even beyond the on field. So I think it's
- 16:47Speaker 2: it's all the stuff behind the scenes that scares me
- 16:50Speaker 2: more than like what's on the field. So yeah, uh.
- 16:56Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like action speaks for the Saints, like you
- 16:58Speaker 3: really can't hear what you're saying, Like nobody's choosing the
- 17:01Speaker 3: Jets over a team that they're going to be in
- 17:03Speaker 3: the Ring of Honor for like if it's a competitive offer,
- 17:07Speaker 3: So that tells me there was not a competitive offer
- 17:10Speaker 3: from this.
- 17:10Speaker 4: I agree on hundred percent.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, like exactly, like if if it's a
- 17:15Speaker 2: ton of a million and you got a team on
- 17:16Speaker 2: its way to winning versus where are the Jets doing?
- 17:19Speaker 2: By the way, like this is this is exactly the
- 17:22Speaker 2: example too.
- 17:23Speaker 4: Like you don't want to be making a move.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Like that to try to save yourself, like because the
- 17:27Speaker 2: head coach in the GM are praid to getting fired,
- 17:29Speaker 2: so they're signing a thirty seven year old from another team,
- 17:31Speaker 2: But you don't want to be that team. That's not
- 17:33Speaker 2: what you want to be building your roster, right, now
- 17:35Speaker 2: I'm shocked on all ends on that, like why why
- 17:38Speaker 2: are the Jets making that move? And like why is
- 17:40Speaker 2: the Mario going there?
- 17:42Speaker 4: So yeah, I mean it does. Yeah, it tells you
- 17:44Speaker 4: that the market isn't quite what it was.
- 17:45Speaker 2: And the most desperate team made the most desperate offer.
- 17:49Speaker 4: And you know, I'm just I'm just really.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Surprised that he's going there. But but he's you know,
- 17:54Speaker 2: he deserves it. He's at the end of his career,
- 17:56Speaker 2: like set up your security, and you know, I can't
- 18:01Speaker 2: argue with the logic, but I was surprised by it.
- 18:04Speaker 6: We were talking a little bit earlier because Okay, he
- 18:06Speaker 6: goes to the Jets, what do you do at linebacker?
- 18:08Speaker 6: Like Sessimen doesn't seem like somebody that's ready to be
- 18:10Speaker 6: the full time Mike linebacker.
- 18:13Speaker 5: You've got some options.
- 18:14Speaker 6: You've got a Bobby Wagner, Levonte, David kay Nellis reunion.
- 18:17Speaker 6: There's guys out there that you can sign to a
- 18:19Speaker 6: one two year deal that would be that veteran presence
- 18:22Speaker 6: to kind of replace what the Mario Davis was for you.
- 18:25Speaker 6: And we talked about the leadership role just then as well.
- 18:27Speaker 6: They give you kind of both of those things. Is
- 18:29Speaker 6: that the path you see the Saints going down.
- 18:33Speaker 2: I think they could definitely added that position. I know
- 18:35Speaker 2: there's like a lot of Davin Lloyd Grummers. I have
- 18:38Speaker 2: a pretty pretty strongly that they that they were not
- 18:41Speaker 2: in that market. So I don't think they were kicking
- 18:43Speaker 2: the wheels there at all. But I can definitely see
- 18:47Speaker 2: him making a move there. And I think I think
- 18:49Speaker 2: probably the next couple of days, like I think we're
- 18:52Speaker 2: probably going to see some defense editions. I won't be
- 18:54Speaker 2: surprised to see a kicker and our returner added to
- 18:56Speaker 2: the team too. And as it pertains to the draft,
- 19:00Speaker 2: I think I think probably you know, the odds of
- 19:04Speaker 2: you know, if there's a point flip, I think defense
- 19:06Speaker 2: probably wins early. Now just give them what you've kind
- 19:08Speaker 2: of done offensively. But like I'm I'm pleased with the
- 19:11Speaker 2: way they're building the team because like badline to me,
- 19:14Speaker 2: like everything is what are they doing for the young quarterback?
- 19:16Speaker 2: And you know, I have major concerns about the defense
- 19:19Speaker 2: that we already you lost, you lost the corner and
- 19:21Speaker 2: you lost the linebacker. Like their defense is objectively gonna
- 19:24Speaker 2: be worse right now until they make other moves. So Yeah,
- 19:27Speaker 2: I think they're definitely gonna do some things. I think
- 19:29Speaker 2: they got to add to it, and I wouldn't be
- 19:31Speaker 2: surprised at all to see just even if it's it's
- 19:34Speaker 2: like a mid gear linebacker that you're.
- 19:36Speaker 4: Like, all right, well, this guy gives like a decent
- 19:38Speaker 4: base one like a AJ.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Clin type player, Like you put him out there, probably
- 19:41Speaker 2: not gonna define your defense, but he's gonna at least
- 19:43Speaker 2: plug the gap and then Stutsman can compete with him
- 19:46Speaker 2: and either he beats him out or he doesn't, and
- 19:48Speaker 2: you're okay either way. Like I think at the very
- 19:51Speaker 2: least that needs to happen. Now, if you have a
- 19:53Speaker 2: chance to elevate there, I think you've got to take it.
- 19:55Speaker 2: But yeah, both those spots man like they're and those.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Are the two energy players too. On the defense, the
- 20:02Speaker 4: Mario brought his own.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Brand of energy. You know, I think it was like
- 20:06Speaker 2: kind of like having the Angel and the double energy,
- 20:08Speaker 2: Like I think, you know, the Mario brought the God
- 20:10Speaker 2: energy and the and a lot they brought the demon energy,
- 20:13Speaker 2: but like where's the energy on the defense, And I
- 20:15Speaker 2: think that really matters too.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Yeah, all Nick, let's get the let's get the free agency,
- 20:20Speaker 3: Crystal ball out god, Nick prediction, Nick stra damis here
- 20:25Speaker 3: we go? What other Yeah, workshopping yesterday whatever? What other
- 20:31Speaker 3: moves do you see them making? What positions you see
- 20:34Speaker 3: them making? If any?
- 20:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I think they're gonna get a kicker.
- 20:38Speaker 2: I think they need to get a returner. You know.
- 20:41Speaker 2: I think, like I was saying, like the way they
- 20:42Speaker 2: approach special teams last year was was was borderline embarrassing.
- 20:46Speaker 2: You know, they tried with the pineer saw getting credit
- 20:49Speaker 2: for that. You know, Kicker went sideways on them.
- 20:51Speaker 4: But like you cut J. T.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Gray, you change schemes, all your special teams, linebackers no
- 20:55Speaker 2: longer fit and get cut and you just had a
- 20:57Speaker 2: bunch of guys out there and it was a disaster.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Like so they got it. They got him on the
- 21:00Speaker 2: backs there, like that's that's a bad area. And they
- 21:03Speaker 2: already have so so on that you know, that's a plus.
- 21:07Speaker 2: I think we'll see some.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Type of receiver too somewhere. I know they got a
- 21:10Speaker 4: bunch of lottery tickets on the on the.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Roster, but they got to get somebody else there. And
- 21:16Speaker 2: I think just that that that linebacker at some level,
- 21:20Speaker 2: I think that's definitely something they got to do too. Also,
- 21:23Speaker 2: the rundown of moves that you were talking about before
- 21:24Speaker 2: we short changed John Ridgeway, that was the Vergers. They
- 21:28Speaker 2: made a free agency.
- 21:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Yeah, they resigned the backup VP for for like six
- 21:33Speaker 2: million bucks over two years. So uh, that was that
- 21:37Speaker 2: was wild. Like all these moves are hitting. Then it's
- 21:39Speaker 2: like John.
- 21:39Speaker 4: Ridgeway, it's like all right, like this is where it's
- 21:42Speaker 4: sorry John, John?
- 21:43Speaker 5: Uh, when's the fullback signing?
- 21:47Speaker 2: They don't use the fullback?
- 21:48Speaker 4: Man, I don't care when sid did you see.
- 21:52Speaker 2: That the Morgan Freeman documentary. I'm that flicked about dinosaurs,
- 21:55Speaker 2: Like there.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Was a okay, hey, the team that you cover didn't
- 22:01Speaker 3: make the postseason.
- 22:02Speaker 5: Nice of you as a guest.
- 22:03Speaker 3: There was four teams left in the postseason. Three of
- 22:05Speaker 3: them carried fullbacks.
- 22:06Speaker 6: A Super Bowl champion kept two fullbacks on their fifty
- 22:09Speaker 6: three main roster the entire season.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Both one seeds had a fullback. So hey, maybe the
- 22:13Speaker 3: Saints could learn something, Nick.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Maybe we should send in some video to morg and
- 22:18Speaker 2: you can like narrate you in your natural environment.
- 22:21Speaker 6: Like this very very Yeah, you're right, and then we'll
- 22:25Speaker 6: have both fullbacks hold up the Lombardi Trophy at the
- 22:27Speaker 6: end of the year.
- 22:28Speaker 5: The final scene, both of them. I don't know, I'm sorry,
- 22:33Speaker 5: I think I'm sorry. I got apologize for my co
- 22:35Speaker 5: host here.
- 22:35Speaker 6: It's really oh so, eighty five percent of the teams
- 22:39Speaker 6: that made the postseason carried a fullback.
- 22:40Speaker 5: And then we want to talk about the top ten pick.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Yeah, look, I'll give it you the the Kubiak Shanahan offense.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Like you know, they've brought you guys back to life
- 22:50Speaker 2: a little bit. There's a little bit of gloria there.
- 22:52Speaker 6: Yeah, alec Ingols tign's seven and a half million dollars yesterday.
- 22:54Speaker 6: But anyways, all right, Nick, we appreciate you, Thank you, sir.
- 22:57Speaker 6: We'll catch up again next week. An I guess you
- 23:02Speaker 6: to hate championships.
- 23:03Speaker 5: That's weird. Brought them back to life. There's a fullback like.
- 23:07Speaker 6: Eagles signed for two year, seven and a half million
- 23:10Speaker 6: dollars with the Los Angeles Chargers yesterday.
- 23:13Speaker 5: M Like the dinosaurs, though, there's a they made the playoffs.
- 23:16Speaker 5: The mosquito that was you hate winning? That's fine. A
- 23:21Speaker 5: fossil and what is it is? It was it amber?
- 23:24Speaker 5: It's an old sap so.
- 23:25Speaker 3: You're telling John Snyder doesn't know how to do his
- 23:26Speaker 3: job when he had two full backs.
- 23:30Speaker 5: That's weird.
- 23:32Speaker 3: Both one seeds had a full back. Both teams in
- 23:34Speaker 3: Super Bowl had a full back.
- 23:35Speaker 5: That's weird.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Sensitivity fun, No, just sticking up from my people, the
- 23:41Speaker 3: loyal lawyers deal sensitivity.
- 23:45Speaker 5: We know everybody's got to have a quarterback. A couple
- 23:48Speaker 5: of them.
- 23:50Speaker 3: Yeah, well, a couple fullbacks on the champion. All right,
- 23:52Speaker 3: we'll take a break. More OTB when we come back

- 25:57Speaker 6: with a bag. We had a dump truck, we got
- 26:00Speaker 6: easter eggs. Let's see, she got three things, a coloring book.

- 26:44Speaker 5: USA.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Don't give me that one second. I'm start calling you
- 26:49Speaker 3: musso can't figure out the tech over there.
- 26:52Speaker 5: USA.
- 26:54Speaker 6: In the World Baseball Classic, Yeah, they defeat Mexico for
- 26:57Speaker 6: the first time in a long time. Mexico kind of
- 26:59Speaker 6: had their numb in baseball a lot like US has
- 27:02Speaker 6: their number in soccer. But they finally get it done.
- 27:05Speaker 6: I believe five to three was the final score. So
- 27:09Speaker 6: that was that was very fun to watch last night.
- 27:12Speaker 6: Stayed up right before you go to bed, see the
- 27:14Speaker 6: little Team USA action.
- 27:16Speaker 5: There's a couple of brawls in the stance. Yeah, I
- 27:19Speaker 5: did see that. That's pretty good videos.
- 27:22Speaker 3: But look, the World Baseball Classic has been a lot
- 27:24Speaker 3: of fun, a lot of emotion, a lot of passion.
- 27:27Speaker 6: We talk about it all the time. We played like
- 27:28Speaker 6: the literal one professional sport. You can't really represent your
- 27:31Speaker 6: country in which kind of sucks. Always wanted to do that,
- 27:34Speaker 6: but it's so cool to see the passion that everybody has.
- 27:37Speaker 6: And by the way, I do want to talk about
- 27:41Speaker 6: the players trying to shake the catcher's hands and the
- 27:43Speaker 6: catchers saying no, and everybody kind of getting up in arms,
- 27:46Speaker 6: because yesterday there was a pair of Seattle Mariner teammates
- 27:50Speaker 6: that the batter tried to shake the catcher's hand.
- 27:52Speaker 5: He's like, no, and what's going on here?
- 27:55Speaker 6: Well, the reason is the catcher doesn't want to get
- 27:57Speaker 6: pine tar on his hand and then get it on
- 28:00Speaker 6: the ball and then throw it back to the ball.
- 28:02Speaker 6: Then the picture is in the situation because there's a
- 28:04Speaker 6: substance on the ball on his hand, and so it
- 28:07Speaker 6: makes a lot of sense. Whenever they actually break it down,
- 28:10Speaker 6: there's no beef between teammates, like I didn't want to
- 28:12Speaker 6: get a bunch of pine.
- 28:13Speaker 5: I don't know there. I mean, you could fist bump,
- 28:16Speaker 5: you could bump. He stuck his hand out, so that's yeah.
- 28:20Speaker 3: But there's a lot of awkward white guy handshakes out there,
- 28:23Speaker 3: like you could fist bump.
- 28:23Speaker 5: He didn't want to be a meme.
- 28:24Speaker 3: And then his teammate after the game actually talked a
- 28:29Speaker 3: lot of ish about him and told him to g
- 28:32Speaker 3: t H.
- 28:32Speaker 5: Basically, g t H no, go to H double hockey sticks,
- 28:40Speaker 5: you know what I mean.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Yeah, look, you want to get Pine Taro's hand, chill
- 28:42Speaker 3: out brou Here is an incredible video.
- 28:46Speaker 5: Don't like video. I don't know.
- 28:50Speaker 7: We were doing a video, so I.
- 28:51Speaker 5: Had to get this sound good.
- 28:54Speaker 6: Here is an incredible video of Paul Skeins warming up
- 28:58Speaker 6: to the top theme music.
- 29:41Speaker 5: Ah, that's fantastic. Of course, mos Kans Air Force, the
- 29:45Speaker 5: Air Force baseball team was in a tip. The entire
- 29:48Speaker 5: air well fantastic.
- 29:51Speaker 3: There's two players that had experienced playing for the Air Force,
- 29:55Speaker 3: so clearly he wanted to do that, that to that song,
- 29:58Speaker 3: even though like you know, top guns far the Navy.
- 30:01Speaker 3: But still that's fine. Planes find the air yeah, ah,
- 30:07Speaker 3: so good. Even he goes out there and like strikes
- 30:10Speaker 3: out seven and four innings. Yeah, strikes out the most
- 30:12Speaker 3: of by any US pitcher in the last like three
- 30:16Speaker 3: World Baseball Classics.
- 30:18Speaker 5: So it did pretty decent.
- 30:19Speaker 3: Just on another level, I think, and yesterday, like he
- 30:22Speaker 3: plays with the Pirates, so of course here at LSU,
- 30:24Speaker 3: we all know him and people know him because of
- 30:26Speaker 3: the cy Young But I don't know if people it's
- 30:28Speaker 3: kind of like Trout and show Hey when they were
- 30:30Speaker 3: the Angels, Like I don't know if people all over
- 30:32Speaker 3: the country if I sat down and watched him pitch
- 30:34Speaker 3: in a big time game before ever outside of Louisiana
- 30:38Speaker 3: and outside of Pirate fans, right.
- 30:40Speaker 7: I mean there's not really any big games that the
- 30:42Speaker 7: Pirates are in.
- 30:43Speaker 5: Yeah, like like a governor on him and they like they.
- 30:48Speaker 7: Traded McCutchen or they didn't re sign McCutchen, which I
- 30:52Speaker 7: don't know what that organization is doing, but well.
- 30:55Speaker 5: I mean they're like one of the worst in the history.
- 30:56Speaker 3: But it was just funny, like to see their response
- 30:59Speaker 3: about skiing on social media, Like I know Kevin Durant
- 31:03Speaker 3: was in the stands because they kept showing it, but
- 31:05Speaker 3: like he tweeted out like now Skins is a dog
- 31:07Speaker 3: like like people is the first time people are watching
- 31:09Speaker 3: him pitch.
- 31:10Speaker 5: He's like he does this every time he goes out there.
- 31:13Speaker 7: Welcome to Paul Skins.
- 31:15Speaker 5: Welcome to Paul Skins.
- 31:16Speaker 1: See the.
- 31:18Speaker 7: Paul Skin's notorious for being just straight faced, no emotions,
- 31:23Speaker 7: like just a very serious about his business.
- 31:25Speaker 4: Guy.
- 31:26Speaker 7: Did you see him smiling at your boy yesterday? Bobby
- 31:29Speaker 7: with guy? Maybe you could find I don't know if
- 31:32Speaker 7: we've ever seen Paul Skins smile before. It was not
- 31:36Speaker 7: even after winning.
- 31:38Speaker 3: But yeah they have, Like there was a going on
- 31:41Speaker 3: social media, was like a still shot with him like
- 31:43Speaker 3: sitting next to.
- 31:45Speaker 7: But he got drafted or something like that.
- 31:47Speaker 5: Yeah, was like sitting there to be.
- 31:50Speaker 3: Fair, I think that's actually when he won Rookie of
- 31:54Speaker 3: the it was it was there's nobody was getting drafted
- 31:58Speaker 3: by the pirates.
- 31:58Speaker 7: Well there was one where he got drafted and then
- 32:00Speaker 7: like the rook in the year one was when he
- 32:03Speaker 7: like made an effort to not look that way speaking.
- 32:06Speaker 6: Of the Rookie of the Year, was like was effortlessly
- 32:10Speaker 6: pitching out there, Like that's what makes it so cool.
- 32:12Speaker 5: Yeah, not just the emotion, but it.
- 32:14Speaker 7: Looks so his mechanics are unreal.
- 32:16Speaker 3: Yeah, so I think that's what I mean, he's going
- 32:18Speaker 3: to place. That's why we said, like those small boys
- 32:21Speaker 3: need to be pitching in the high nineties.
- 32:23Speaker 5: Look at this right when he that's as much as
- 32:27Speaker 5: you're getting to your point about no small boys. Somebody
- 32:30Speaker 5: in the chat made a good point.
- 32:31Speaker 3: They're like Paul Skins left the Air Force because he
- 32:33Speaker 3: realized he's too big to be a fighter.
- 32:35Speaker 5: Bout right. Well, so I see like so huks playing baseball.
- 32:38Speaker 3: So I get a lot of these youth baseball things
- 32:40Speaker 3: fed to me, Like I see a lot of these
- 32:42Speaker 3: high school kids that are throwing like ninety eight, ninety nine,
- 32:45Speaker 3: and it looks like so hard. Yeah, like their arms
- 32:49Speaker 3: about to rip off their their shoulder when they're doing this,
- 32:52Speaker 3: at least their elbow and then but you see Paul
- 32:54Speaker 3: Skins doing like he's a bigger guy. His mechanics are
- 32:57Speaker 3: perfect and it's just very effortless. Like you if you
- 32:59Speaker 3: get effortlessly, do you should do it? If you have
- 33:02Speaker 3: to create it with so much whip that you're you're
- 33:04Speaker 3: not gonna be able to lift your arm up at
- 33:06Speaker 3: thirty like, you shouldn't do it, Well, you should just
- 33:09Speaker 3: stayed until.
- 33:09Speaker 7: Thirty Yeah, you should read hug his letter that he
- 33:13Speaker 7: wrote to the little leaguers who did Player's Tribune.
- 33:17Speaker 5: Yeah, oh I did, and see that.
- 33:19Speaker 7: It's good. The Players Tribune is such a good platform
- 33:24Speaker 7: that they made.
- 33:25Speaker 5: I agree hardly.
- 33:27Speaker 7: I I love the Players Tribute.
- 33:29Speaker 6: I would love for a Louisian sports dot net to
- 33:31Speaker 6: have something like if we could partner.
- 33:33Speaker 3: I know it's hard to partner now in il Ah,
- 33:35Speaker 3: but if like we could partner. I thought about that,
- 33:37Speaker 3: if we could partner with LSU athletes or Louisiana athletes
- 33:41Speaker 3: didn't have to be LSU to like do something like
- 33:43Speaker 3: that once every however so often every couple of weeks.
- 33:47Speaker 5: I think that would be well received. Yeah, I don't know.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Maybe I love it. I enjoy reading it. I don't
- 33:52Speaker 3: read a lot I read that.
- 33:55Speaker 7: I'm pretty sure Derek Jeter is the one who made it,
- 33:59Speaker 7: the players rebuting.
- 34:02Speaker 5: Captain.
- 34:04Speaker 3: Anyway, I loved the game last night. Well, bab was awesome.
- 34:08Speaker 3: I'm a stitch yad now. I was locked in. It
- 34:11Speaker 3: felt like October playoff backs when you Texas, Hey is
- 34:15Speaker 3: Bobby wit Junior?
- 34:16Speaker 5: This good? All the time, I was like, oh, he's in,
- 34:18Speaker 5: He's Bob, I'm your jersey, I'm your yuh. Do we
- 34:22Speaker 5: know a team he plays for you yet? Royals? He
- 34:25Speaker 5: has the card.
- 34:26Speaker 7: That's why he knew because I said, he asked that,
- 34:30Speaker 7: and I said, Bobby Wood Junior would be a really
- 34:32Speaker 7: good card to have right now.
- 34:33Speaker 5: Bobby Jr. Case at a lot of times, and I
- 34:35Speaker 5: was real discussed. I tried to it off on the laundry.
- 34:37Speaker 5: He was like, I got one, but it's for sale.
- 34:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:43Speaker 7: The Dominican Republic though, just absolutely dominating.
- 34:47Speaker 6: Oh, Israel, it's gonna be Dominican Republic, Japan and USA.
- 34:53Speaker 6: There's gonna be the three.
- 34:54Speaker 7: Teams too now to now, Damn, I don't a line
- 35:00Speaker 7: dropping bombs.
- 35:01Speaker 6: All right, on that note, we'll take a break more
- 35:04Speaker 6: OTB when we come back here live from the Raisin
- 35:07Speaker 6: Gaines studio.
- 35:08Speaker 1: Off the bench, all right.
- 35:10Speaker 5: Go to fabt dot com.
- 35:12Speaker 3: That is the website for First American Bank and Trust,
- 35:15Speaker 3: a banking tradition since nineteen ten.
- 35:19Speaker 5: One of the things we love about them.
- 35:20Speaker 6: So you're gonna get everything that you would get with
- 35:22Speaker 6: any other big national bank whatever, like online banking and
- 35:27Speaker 6: all the tools that are right at there at your fingertips,
- 35:29Speaker 6: like you're gonna get all that safeguard on your debit card,
- 35:33Speaker 6: personal loans, bank loans doesn't really matter like investments. You
- 35:37Speaker 6: get all of that, but you get it with the
- 35:39Speaker 6: customer service of somebody that's right here in local making
- 35:43Speaker 6: decisions locally, Not on both coasts, not up in the
- 35:47Speaker 6: big cities. We're talking about right here, local people making
- 35:50Speaker 6: those big decisions for you.
- 35:52Speaker 5: But to fabt dot com.
- 35:54Speaker 3: Yeah, if you are looking for business line, maybe you're
- 35:56Speaker 3: looking for a personal owned to mortgage, something like that.
- 35:58Speaker 3: If you're growing your family, need bigger house, grow in
- 36:00Speaker 3: your business, you need inventory, you need working capital, whatever is.
- 36:03Speaker 3: Make sure you're dealing with the bank is making local decisions,
- 36:06Speaker 3: like Jake said, not somewhere in New York, not somewhere
- 36:08Speaker 3: in Chicago, local decisions right here, First American Bank, ad Trust,
- 36:11Speaker 3: fabt dot com. You want to.
- 36:17Speaker 5: Language, everybody here canstand.
- 36:26Speaker 1: Off the bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn, presented
- 36:30Speaker 1: by Community Steel.
- 36:46Speaker 6: All right, welcome back in o t B here live
- 36:49Speaker 6: from the Raisin Kanes Studio. Tuesday shows brought to you
- 36:51Speaker 6: by Community Steel. Community Steel co dot Com is the website.
- 36:56Speaker 6: Check it out today right here in Gonzales, Louisiana. I
- 37:01Speaker 6: would assume later on today typically happens this way. Because
- 37:04Speaker 6: we're the morning show, we get it.
- 37:06Speaker 3: There's going to be another wave of free agent signings
- 37:10Speaker 3: in the National Football League looking forward to that.
- 37:13Speaker 5: Some of the big spenders in the first day.
- 37:15Speaker 3: The Saints were included in that list, but the Raiders,
- 37:19Speaker 3: they spent dollar dollar bills.
- 37:21Speaker 5: They spent more than Titans.
- 37:22Speaker 6: You want to talk about completely resetting the market for Sinners,
- 37:28Speaker 6: Tyler Lindenbaum, I mean, they blew past whatever the previous
- 37:32Speaker 6: record was, and so the Raiders, and I actually think
- 37:35Speaker 6: they had to I talked about this on NFL Radio yesterday.
- 37:38Speaker 3: They didn't really have a choice. They kind of had
- 37:41Speaker 3: to do it.
- 37:41Speaker 6: Like Fernando Mendow is going to be their one overall pick.
- 37:43Speaker 6: Ashon genty is a top ten back. You have a
- 37:45Speaker 6: lot of assets in like you had to fortify the
- 37:48Speaker 6: offensive line. You didn't really have a choice. So you
- 37:51Speaker 6: go pay Tyer Lindenbaum more than any Sinners ever made
- 37:55Speaker 6: by a lot. You're probably gonna draft one at fourteen
- 37:58Speaker 6: with the pick you got for Max Crosby. After us,
- 38:00Speaker 6: like Fernando Mendows is number one overall, because even if
- 38:04Speaker 6: you have other needs, you have to protect your biggest assets,
- 38:06Speaker 6: which are going to be the quarterback you took one
- 38:08Speaker 6: to one and the running back you took in the
- 38:10Speaker 6: top ten.
- 38:11Speaker 3: This is a I didn't even know this about this,
- 38:14Speaker 3: Tyler Linderbaum. Three year, eighty one million dollars to play
- 38:19Speaker 3: the center position. Now, the center, don't get it twisted.
- 38:23Speaker 6: The Raiders, by the way, to your question, they spent
- 38:25Speaker 6: three hundred and twenty two million dollars on eight players.
- 38:28Speaker 6: The Titans spent two hundred and seventy million on seven players.
- 38:34Speaker 5: The center position is wildly important. Yep. They have to
- 38:38Speaker 5: be smart like so I was like I was.
- 38:40Speaker 3: Always The notion was the closer you get to the ball,
- 38:44Speaker 3: the higher football IQ you have to have. There's more
- 38:47Speaker 3: things you have to know. So of course the centers
- 38:49Speaker 3: center the quarterback thing. Only two people that touch the
- 38:50Speaker 3: ball every single play. The center position is wildly important.
- 38:56Speaker 3: The center position is not as important as the Raiders
- 38:59Speaker 3: just made it three years, eighty one million dollars.
- 39:03Speaker 5: They have a lot of money to spend. They had
- 39:05Speaker 5: like the top three cap.
- 39:06Speaker 3: I got it, I got you. But at the center position,
- 39:10Speaker 3: I don't know who they were bidding against. For one,
- 39:13Speaker 3: he gets paid way more than any center ever has,
- 39:16Speaker 3: so I don't know who they're if they're rewarding him
- 39:19Speaker 3: or what. But the center from a physical standpoint is
- 39:25Speaker 3: probably the I don't even want to say the easiest position,
- 39:30Speaker 3: because they're all really hard. It's the least hard position physically,
- 39:34Speaker 3: you get the least amount of one on one battles,
- 39:37Speaker 3: you get help from me to guard on either side
- 39:40Speaker 3: of you. I've I was just part of multiple teams
- 39:44Speaker 3: that had experienced other alignment and would throw in a
- 39:47Speaker 3: rookie or young guy center who was smart and could
- 39:51Speaker 3: make all the calls. They could handle anything, but with
- 39:54Speaker 3: the help that they get on their left and right
- 39:56Speaker 3: shoulder all the time. Hey, if you're paying twenty five
- 39:59Speaker 3: plus million dollars, you need to Usually that consists of
- 40:03Speaker 3: a guy that has to be physically more. I will
- 40:05Speaker 3: say I was in the completely different scenario.
- 40:07Speaker 6: We had Nick Hardwick, who was like a very veteran player,
- 40:10Speaker 6: all Pro pull Bowl guy, and then we had Dan Copen,
- 40:13Speaker 6: who was Tom Brady center for a long time, and
- 40:15Speaker 6: then he came to us in Denver at the end
- 40:16Speaker 6: of his career.
- 40:17Speaker 3: I was in a different situation. I've certainly heard of
- 40:19Speaker 3: situations like you're talking about, and that's fine, but like
- 40:22Speaker 3: still to pay him that much above market value? Was
- 40:27Speaker 3: he that important? Like because I was like in Seattle,
- 40:31Speaker 3: Max Hunger was there. Yeah, fantastic center, right, but still
- 40:35Speaker 3: it still wasn't like the most physically challenging position to
- 40:39Speaker 3: play on the field. And like I say that with
- 40:42Speaker 3: as much respect as I can, that's just like the
- 40:44Speaker 3: rule of thumb that where everybody went, like the closer
- 40:46Speaker 3: yard of the ball, the smarter you have to be,
- 40:48Speaker 3: and like the less like physically dominant you have to
- 40:50Speaker 3: be unless you're going to get to like unless you're
- 40:53Speaker 3: in division with a ton of odd fronts, then it
- 40:56Speaker 3: changes a little bit because you can have to see
- 40:57Speaker 3: a little bit, but you're also doing a lot of
- 40:59Speaker 3: three and fourmants odd fronts. Like if we got odd
- 41:02Speaker 3: fronts and two jet three jet projection game, it was
- 41:04Speaker 3: just it was it was we ripped and lizards where
- 41:07Speaker 3: it was a four man slide because you you locked
- 41:09Speaker 3: down one side, you have your back go to the mic,
- 41:11Speaker 3: to the to the nicol sam.
- 41:13Speaker 5: Or whatever it is.
- 41:15Speaker 3: So there's a lot of slide protection. So anyway, very
- 41:19Speaker 3: important position. I love like I always had great relationships
- 41:21Speaker 3: with the centers. That's like the biggest, like the biggest
- 41:24Speaker 3: chemistry that some people have to have as a quarterback,
- 41:27Speaker 3: a center have to have a wild chemistry.
- 41:30Speaker 5: But this is a wildly overpaid. It's a lot of money.
- 41:34Speaker 5: It's a lot of money for much less.
- 41:36Speaker 6: I think this was because you're bidding against nobody. Classic
- 41:39Speaker 6: like the Ravens didn't tag him because he would have
- 41:41Speaker 6: had to have a franchise tag at the left tackle number.
- 41:44Speaker 6: So that's why they didn't tag him. There's no left
- 41:46Speaker 6: tackle or sorry tackle in general, tackle, guard, center, off
- 41:49Speaker 6: of the line. Franchise tag numbers all the same, so
- 41:53Speaker 6: you're not gonna pay a center whatch you pay a
- 41:54Speaker 6: top to your tackle. So the Humphrey was probably set.
- 41:58Speaker 5: You got twenty seven a year, three countries, eighteen million
- 42:01Speaker 5: a year.
- 42:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it's half of I mean that's see Humphreys.
- 42:07Speaker 5: Maybe it's a lot, it's a significant overpay. Yeah, the
- 42:10Speaker 5: Raiders are gonna rader.
- 42:11Speaker 2: So uh.
- 42:12Speaker 6: March is colon cancer Awareness month, and it's important reminder
- 42:15Speaker 6: that colon cancer is common, but it's also preventable and
- 42:17Speaker 6: highly treatable wind called early screening, can actually detect pre
- 42:21Speaker 6: cancerous situations before they even turn into cancer, which is
- 42:26Speaker 6: why doctors recommend adults start screening at the age of
- 42:28Speaker 6: forty five.
- 42:30Speaker 5: So, of course, like working with Oschner here, it's.
- 42:32Speaker 3: Very important for them, and if you and your family
- 42:35Speaker 3: have a history, they have an option for you, like
- 42:40Speaker 3: a colon Oskby remains a gold standard for screening, but
- 42:43Speaker 3: for some people at lower risk you had at home
- 42:46Speaker 3: stool test, that can be an option for you as well.
- 42:49Speaker 3: So the thing is they want to make sure that
- 42:51Speaker 3: you are aware there is options depending on your family history.
- 42:54Speaker 3: So the key is having the conversation with your doctor.
- 42:57Speaker 6: Establishing care with Oshner Primary Care Provide can help guide
- 43:01Speaker 6: you on the right screenings at the right time for you.
- 43:04Speaker 6: Everybody's gonna have a different situation. So you can schedule
