Bird Strike Forces Emergency Landing | Oakland News
An American Airlines flight from Myrtle Beach suffered a bird strike during takeoff, forcing an emergency landing with flames visible from one engine. Witnesses on the ground and other pilots reported hearing the pilot call Mayday, while bird remains—known as “snarge”—were found on the runway. The FAA is investigating amid over 24,000 wildlife strikes reported in the U.S. in 2025.
