- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, friends.
- 0:00Speaker 2: Before we get into this episode, we wanted to let
- 0:02Speaker 2: you know what's happening here. This entire month will be
- 0:06Speaker 2: Christmas in July on Girls Gone Hamewark, featuring some.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Movies that we reviewed.
- 0:10Speaker 3: But you've never heard. That's right. These reviews appeared exclusively
- 0:15Speaker 3: on our Patreon account, but we dug them out from
- 0:19Speaker 3: the vault and we're gonna celebrate Christmas in July. I
- 0:23Speaker 3: gotta tell you, Megan, I'm a little bit concerned because
- 0:25Speaker 3: I don't know what I said about these movies.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Oh, you should probably give these episodes a listen to.
- 0:32Speaker 2: We hope you enjoy this month on Girls Gone Hamewark.
- 0:35Speaker 2: As always joined us on our Facebook group to talk
- 0:37Speaker 2: about these movies and these reviews.
- 0:40Speaker 4: Enjoy the episode.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Welcome to a bonus episode of Girls Gone Hallmark.
- 1:01Speaker 3: I'm Megan, I'm Wendy.
- 1:03Speaker 2: And on today's bonus episode, we are discussing the title
- 1:06Speaker 2: that I mess up every single time I say it
- 1:08Speaker 2: out loud, and Hi, Christmas Family Tree.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Oh my god, I actually have I written down as
- 1:13Speaker 3: my family and Christmas Tree.
- 1:15Speaker 2: I know what is the title my Christmas Family Tree?
- 1:18Speaker 3: Are you certain? No?
- 1:21Speaker 2: Now that you say that, no, I don't know. I'm
- 1:24Speaker 2: I'm looking at the app me too, my Christmas Family Tree.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Okay, let me change mine. I know it is a
- 1:33Speaker 3: difficult title. I was thinking about Open by Christmas, which
- 1:37Speaker 3: is available to listen in our regular podcast feed. Open
- 1:41Speaker 3: by Christmas had nothing to do with that movie. Like
- 1:43Speaker 3: that title had nothing to do with that movie.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Right, Like was she supposed to open the card by Christmas?
- 1:49Speaker 2: It wasn't like a twenty years ago? Yeah, I give yes,
- 1:52Speaker 2: it didn't make sense. Moving on, Do you have a synopsis?
- 1:55Speaker 3: I do. When Vanessa receives the results from her family
- 1:59Speaker 3: Tree DNA test, she discovers a family she didn't know
- 2:03Speaker 3: existed and travels to their home for Christmas, starring Amy
- 2:07Speaker 3: tea Garden, Andrew Walker and James Tupper.
- 2:11Speaker 2: News and notes.
- 2:13Speaker 3: I have very few, as do.
- 2:15Speaker 2: I I mean, in fact, I wrote, blah blah blah.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Filmed in Vancouver. Can we skip to the good part?
- 2:21Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I That's basically what I have, and
- 2:24Speaker 3: that it began shooting in August and wrapped in September,
- 2:28Speaker 3: so it was hot when they filmed this one.
- 2:30Speaker 2: I have one more note, and that is that Amy
- 2:32Speaker 2: Teagarden is ten years younger than Andrew Walker. She's thirty
- 2:35Speaker 2: two and he's forty two.
- 2:37Speaker 3: And he's forty two years old. Yes, wow, and does
- 2:42Speaker 3: not look forty two. He looks twenty five. Sorry, I'm
- 2:49Speaker 3: an old lady.
- 2:50Speaker 2: It felt like he almost felt more of a peer
- 2:53Speaker 2: to her father in this movie than to her and
- 2:58Speaker 2: the fact at one point I was like, wait a minute,
- 3:00Speaker 2: is he the father's friend. No, his dad was the
- 3:02Speaker 2: father's friend. So anyway, they are I think supposed to
- 3:05Speaker 2: be the same age, but they are very much not. Well.
- 3:07Speaker 3: I think that's a lot of casting in these Hallmark movies.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Is that, Like they're supposed to pretend to be the
- 3:12Speaker 3: same age, right?
- 3:13Speaker 2: I have one last thing before we do first impressions.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I wanted to read a review okay that I strongly
- 3:20Speaker 2: disagree with.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Ooh, let's hear it.
- 3:22Speaker 2: My Christmas Family Tree was okay with a different storyline
- 3:25Speaker 2: in the background of a gasp unwed mother, although she's
- 3:28Speaker 2: never seen. They managed to throw every single one of
- 3:31Speaker 2: their tiresome must haves, including skating children, singing in a
- 3:34Speaker 2: Christmas pageant, seventeen million decorations, selecting and decorating the Tree
- 3:38Speaker 2: family dinner, hot Cocoa by the gallon and falling in
- 3:41Speaker 2: love in less than a week. The anvils raining down
- 3:44Speaker 2: were enough to kill the viewer, and the premise was
- 3:46Speaker 2: just beyond credible. The misunderstanding was just plain silly, tolerable,
- 3:49Speaker 2: although I wouldn't watch it.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Again, which.
- 3:53Speaker 2: I don't disagree with her statement that all of those
- 3:55Speaker 2: things are in the movie.
- 3:56Speaker 1: To me, though, they didn't ruin.
- 3:58Speaker 2: The movie, which leads me to my first impression, which is, Wendy,
- 4:03Speaker 2: please don't break my heart with your review of this movie.
- 4:06Speaker 3: That's your first impression? Yes, okay, wait, I'll backing up,
- 4:12Speaker 3: backing up. What do you disagree then, with that reviewer's
- 4:16Speaker 3: statement of the movie.
- 4:18Speaker 2: That all of those tropes made the movie unwatchable. I
- 4:22Speaker 2: did not find that to be the case. Okay, if
- 4:24Speaker 2: you enjoyed this movie.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Fair, But what about her other stuff about what did
- 4:29Speaker 3: it say at the end there about like after all
- 4:31Speaker 3: the tropes, like it said something about like the.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Premise was just to be on credible. The misunderstanding was
- 4:36Speaker 2: plain silly. I would like to get to that and
- 4:37Speaker 2: I will discuss that later. Okay, I thought maybe the
- 4:40Speaker 2: flaws in this movie.
- 4:42Speaker 3: All right, Okay, Fair, My first impression of this movie
- 4:45Speaker 3: is that this one was special.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:52Speaker 3: I actually was shocked that Hallmark would have two really
- 4:57Speaker 3: good back to back movies. Like I thought, Open by
- 5:01Speaker 3: Christmas was a really great movie, and then this one
- 5:03Speaker 3: was a really great movie, and they aired you know,
- 5:05Speaker 3: back to Friday and Saturday. So I was kind of
- 5:07Speaker 3: surprised that these didn't hold their own like their own
- 5:11Speaker 3: like Saturday night slot.
- 5:13Speaker 1: You know.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I liked it a lot. Well.
- 5:16Speaker 2: I wonder what Hallmark considers the prime spot to be,
- 5:19Speaker 2: because Alie Sweeney is a Hallmark Mainsday and she had
- 5:22Speaker 2: the Friday night slot ahead of Amy t Garden. Although
- 5:25Speaker 2: Andrew Walker might be kind of the draw for this one.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Maybe he's the pillar of this movie.
- 5:31Speaker 1: So I take it back.
- 5:32Speaker 2: I can see why they put it on a Saturday. Okay,
- 5:35Speaker 2: what did you like about this movie?
- 5:37Speaker 3: I'm gonna reference Open by Christmas again. We talked on
- 5:40Speaker 3: that review podcast episode that the opening was really cute,
- 5:45Speaker 3: and I thought the opening to this movie was really
- 5:47Speaker 3: cute too.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Is that where she walks through the desks and delivers gifts.
- 5:51Speaker 3: No, hold it, hold a minute, she is doing that,
- 5:54Speaker 3: but it's just it's really cute. I was like, I
- 5:56Speaker 3: can you hear the song? Yes, that is when she
- 6:02Speaker 3: is delivering the presence, but it has like a cute,
- 6:04Speaker 3: festive song. And the fourth is really cute and festive,
- 6:07Speaker 3: so much better than some of the ones we've seen
- 6:11Speaker 3: in the past. I agree.
- 6:12Speaker 2: I think Andrew Walker is a true wowie zowie.
- 6:16Speaker 3: I oh goree. And that's why I'm saying he's forty two.
- 6:21Speaker 3: What rip it? Open that shirt, dude. I need to
- 6:23Speaker 3: see that six pack because somebody's got one. I want
- 6:28Speaker 3: to see him like dancing with the Stars or something.
- 6:31Speaker 3: I am showing my grandma card. But he is so handsome,
- 6:38Speaker 3: so so handsome.
- 6:39Speaker 2: I have to say that Andrew Walker. I enjoyed him
- 6:42Speaker 2: more in this movie than.
- 6:43Speaker 3: I ever have before.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I think, oh it really is.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Yes, I always enjoy it. I mean, he's very nice
- 6:48Speaker 2: to look at, but this was this was a standout
- 6:52Speaker 2: role for me.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Well. I remember really loving The twenty seven Hour Day,
- 6:56Speaker 3: but it wasn't about the romance that I liked. I
- 6:58Speaker 3: just liked that the story was more about her, the
- 7:00Speaker 3: lead who was in it. So yeah, I would say
- 7:03Speaker 3: like he stood out for me in this movie as well,
- 7:06Speaker 3: and now I'm wondering, do I need to go back
- 7:07Speaker 3: and watch all these other movies that he's been in.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Friendly app That's right, did you like? I really loved
- 7:18Speaker 3: the family.
- 7:19Speaker 2: I wrote this entire, loving, wonderful family.
- 7:22Speaker 3: The mom was so welcoming and friendly. I loved that
- 7:28Speaker 3: the older daughter was super age appropriate to the way
- 7:32Speaker 3: that a teenager would talk, had the same attitude a
- 7:34Speaker 3: teenager would have. The little girl was like sassy at
- 7:39Speaker 3: times and thought she was perfect. The son was kind
- 7:43Speaker 3: of a throwaway role, and I thought maybe they just
- 7:45Speaker 3: needed him to be like the dog sitter for her,
- 7:47Speaker 3: which is like another side storyline. I was like, why
- 7:49Speaker 3: did they bring that dog? Like I didn't get it. Whatever,
- 7:52Speaker 3: But I loved the family.
- 7:54Speaker 2: I even wrote Grandma she gets her own bullet point.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Oh my god, Grandma too.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Yeah, she was just so love I just thought they
- 8:01Speaker 2: were so warm and wonderful.
- 8:03Speaker 3: And the dad too. I'm not who wasn't James Tepper.
- 8:08Speaker 3: I don't remember what his character name was, but like,
- 8:10Speaker 3: he was just so like open and wanted to make
- 8:13Speaker 3: it work. I just loved it. Loved the family.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I really got the feels, as they say, from
- 8:21Speaker 2: this family.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I loved the giant Santa. It made me literally.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Laugh out loud when they step back and the Santa's
- 8:26Speaker 2: like as big as the house.
- 8:28Speaker 3: That was so funny. That was really funny. I just
- 8:31Speaker 3: thought the whole premise there was like the other Santa
- 8:34Speaker 3: was like failing and they were like trying to keep
- 8:35Speaker 3: it together with duct tape or whatever. And then she
- 8:37Speaker 3: went out and got this like thoughtful gift because I
- 8:39Speaker 3: think I think they were trying to weave that into
- 8:42Speaker 3: the storyline, is that she was like this thoughtful gift giver,
- 8:45Speaker 3: like with the opening scene how she's giving gifts to
- 8:47Speaker 3: all the employees or whatever. And then like of course
- 8:49Speaker 3: at the end when she gives like the Frankenstein gift
- 8:53Speaker 3: to Andrew Walker's character, you know, yes, thought that.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Was something that was really well executed in this movie.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Or is her gift giving like someone put some real
- 9:03Speaker 2: thought into what gifts she was going to give to
- 9:06Speaker 2: these people?
- 9:07Speaker 3: Right? Yeah? That big Santa was great. I was like,
- 9:08Speaker 3: can I get one of those? I want a big
- 9:10Speaker 3: Santa in front of my yard.
- 9:11Speaker 1: You need the big giant Sanna.
- 9:13Speaker 3: I what a big Santa? Where can I get one?
- 9:15Speaker 3: That's like a car dealership? Sannah, you know, totally get
- 9:19Speaker 3: to tie it to your roof to keep it in place. Right.
- 9:22Speaker 2: The last thing I liked is when the father gave
- 9:25Speaker 2: her the photo of her mom At the end, I cried,
- 9:29Speaker 2: did you I did?
- 9:31Speaker 3: I like, welled up a little bit but didn't cry cry.
- 9:34Speaker 3: But yes, He's like, I think she has your eyes
- 9:37Speaker 3: or you have her eyes or whatever. I was like,
- 9:40Speaker 3: that's my mom. Oh my god.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:44Speaker 3: I mean he found the picture so easily the second
- 9:48Speaker 3: time he looked for it. You know, he didn't look
- 9:52Speaker 3: that well the first time he was looking for it.
- 9:54Speaker 3: I would have just solved the problems, you know, if
- 9:56Speaker 3: he would have found that damn picture earlier. I just
- 9:59Speaker 3: really like, I like the whole thing.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Yeah, what did you wish for?
- 10:03Speaker 3: All right? Don't hate me?
- 10:05Speaker 1: Oh it's okay.
- 10:06Speaker 3: This movie needed less Christmas activities.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I swear I.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Didn't write that review. I swear I did it. But
- 10:13Speaker 3: I think, like, you know, we have that Bengo card
- 10:15Speaker 3: on our Instagram. I was like, we would have filled
- 10:18Speaker 3: an entire Bingo card with this movie, because there was
- 10:21Speaker 3: like there was cookie decorating, ice skating. Was there a
- 10:26Speaker 3: Christmas show, pageant show, concerts or something, so many things,
- 10:32Speaker 3: so many things, and then that makes me wonder, like
- 10:35Speaker 3: when they put all that stuff into movies, like do
- 10:39Speaker 3: they have just like a very small story? But I
- 10:41Speaker 3: didn't think this was a small story, I hear you.
- 10:44Speaker 2: I think for me, the reading some of those things
- 10:46Speaker 2: worked is because they were trying. She was meeting this
- 10:49Speaker 2: family for the first time, and so they needed traditional
- 10:53Speaker 2: family activities for her to participate in. Yeah, it was
- 10:56Speaker 2: all in the week leading up to Christmas at their home.
- 11:01Speaker 2: So I do think they hit you over the head
- 11:03Speaker 2: with it.
- 11:04Speaker 1: For me, it worked.
- 11:05Speaker 3: I mean I think that's like your utopia right right,
- 11:09Speaker 3: Like a week full of just nothing else but Christmas
- 11:13Speaker 3: activities to do, like no laundry, no cooking, dinner, no nothing.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I love it.
- 11:19Speaker 2: One thing I wished for was some resolution on the
- 11:22Speaker 2: actual DNA mix up. I never saw them solve what
- 11:27Speaker 2: the problem was.
- 11:29Speaker 1: If they did, I missed it.
- 11:31Speaker 2: But we realized that she is his daughter, So what
- 11:34Speaker 2: was the mix up? What was the problem? That loose
- 11:37Speaker 2: thread bothered me?
- 11:39Speaker 3: Well, this is what I was thinking. If she would
- 11:41Speaker 3: have been contacted by the DNA company, he would have
- 11:45Speaker 3: as well say like and.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Did you see that also contacted the father as well.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Yes, of course they would have. Yeah, of course they
- 11:52Speaker 3: would have. But agree like you wanted some like final
- 11:57Speaker 3: scientific say so that they were actually a match.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Well, I wanted them to come back and be like, no, no, no, no.
- 12:02Speaker 2: The mix up wasn't that you weren't his father. The
- 12:04Speaker 2: mix up was like in your ancestry, like you're actually
- 12:09Speaker 2: twenty seven percent Swedish or something like that. Oh what
- 12:14Speaker 2: because they never said they just said we mixed your
- 12:16Speaker 2: results up. It doesn't say he's not your father. We
- 12:19Speaker 2: don't know exactly right, right, So, and I think they
- 12:23Speaker 2: intentionally left that open ended. But I do wish they
- 12:26Speaker 2: And maybe this is a scene that got cut, but
- 12:28Speaker 2: I do wish that maybe there's like while he's driving
- 12:32Speaker 2: to her, there's a scene with him calling the DNA
- 12:34Speaker 2: company to figure out what you know, and they say,
- 12:36Speaker 2: oh no, it was x y Z. And that's why
- 12:39Speaker 2: they never called him because it didn't affect him at all. Right,
- 12:42Speaker 2: that makes so that's that's what I'm gonna tell myself.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Maybe she's not one point five percent West African.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Yes, yes, that's right.
- 12:49Speaker 1: What else did you wish for?
- 12:51Speaker 3: Well, again, don't hate me. Let's talk about Amy T.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Garden.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Okay, okay, now you know she was in the movie
- 12:58Speaker 3: that I probably hated most from twenty twenty one, which
- 13:01Speaker 3: was a New Year's Resolution. I thought she was in
- 13:04Speaker 3: Chasing Waterfalls.
- 13:06Speaker 2: I No, whatever movie I hated that said was worse
- 13:10Speaker 2: than Chasing Waterfalls.
- 13:12Speaker 3: It's the Hubian dance. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Maybe if I
- 13:16Speaker 3: rewatched a New Year's Resolution, I may not hate it
- 13:19Speaker 3: as much.
- 13:20Speaker 1: But to me, I think you should with the.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Hindsight of some of the other twenty twenty stinkers in
- 13:26Speaker 2: your mind, twenty twenty one stinkers. Anyway, I will stop
- 13:28Speaker 2: interrupting it.
- 13:29Speaker 3: Go ahead, No, I mean that's fair because if you
- 13:31Speaker 3: look at it, like, we started with a handful of
- 13:33Speaker 3: Christmas movies when we started reviewing these, right, and then
- 13:36Speaker 3: we just moved straight into twenty twenty one, and that
- 13:40Speaker 3: was like the first non holiday Christmas movie, and I
- 13:43Speaker 3: was like, ugh, this is terrible. So maybe that's just
- 13:47Speaker 3: the stain it has left on me right now. Amy T.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Garden Like, I loved her as Julie Taylor on Friday
- 13:55Speaker 3: Night Lights, Like she played the perfect teenager, angsty, moody cute.
- 14:02Speaker 3: As an adult, how old is she you said thirty
- 14:05Speaker 3: two thirty. She's a cute girl next door to me,
- 14:08Speaker 3: but like I feel like she is as exciting as
- 14:11Speaker 3: a piece of cardboard, Like she's just so blocked me.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Like there was never one time in this movie where
- 14:18Speaker 3: I was like, she's adorable, Like she's so cute. I
- 14:23Speaker 3: get why everyone loves her, like I just didn't. I
- 14:27Speaker 3: don't know. I don't know. And on top of that,
- 14:30Speaker 3: I didn't feel any chemistry between her and Andrew Walker
- 14:34Speaker 3: like I didn't. There was no sparks there for me.
- 14:37Speaker 3: I think she's a good actress.
- 14:39Speaker 2: I think she's cute. I think Andrew Walker was the
- 14:44Speaker 2: big star in this movie for me, But I don't
- 14:46Speaker 2: have the same aversion to Dorothy.
- 14:48Speaker 3: Well, okay, I will make my mission. I will look
- 14:51Speaker 3: on the friendly app right now, non sponsored, and find
- 14:56Speaker 3: a new Year's resolution and try to watch her in
- 14:58Speaker 3: that movie again. Okay, did you think she and Andrew
- 15:02Speaker 3: Walker had chemistry?
- 15:04Speaker 2: I liked them together.
- 15:06Speaker 3: It was more to me of like friendship a confidant. Well,
- 15:10Speaker 3: you know what, I take that back. I was like,
- 15:12Speaker 3: she needs a confidant while she had her best friend too,
- 15:15Speaker 3: who was really adorable and sweet. That whole scene is
- 15:19Speaker 3: she comes to the house and he's like, are you
- 15:21Speaker 3: the actual real daughter? Yeah? I just thought that was
- 15:23Speaker 3: really funny. I thought that they were better as like
- 15:26Speaker 3: conduit between the family. She needed like a connector between
- 15:31Speaker 3: like that family, and that was Andrew Walker. But I
- 15:34Speaker 3: will say, like at the inn when he comes in
- 15:37Speaker 3: and brings the Christmas tree, that was like really sweet.
- 15:41Speaker 3: But then he said something like falling in love and I.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Was like, ohka, no, I have something to say about that.
- 15:49Speaker 2: That last scene, she apologizes and she's like, I'm so sorry.
- 15:52Speaker 2: I didn't say something. I was just falling in love
- 15:54Speaker 2: with this family. And when she said that, I said
- 15:57Speaker 2: out loud.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Don't say and with you.
- 16:00Speaker 2: And then he said.
- 16:01Speaker 1: You're not the only one falling in.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Love and I said, and my husband said, I had
- 16:06Speaker 2: no Christmas spirits.
- 16:07Speaker 3: So it's not about Christmas spirit and that's about like
- 16:11Speaker 3: it's been a week. Yeah, I.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Didn't like that. I mean I think it's the obvious
- 16:19Speaker 2: hallmark line in that moment. Yeah, when she says I
- 16:22Speaker 2: was falling in love with this family, we never love
- 16:25Speaker 2: the I'm in love with you after a week storyline.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Now I have a question for you though, before we
- 16:31Speaker 2: move on to did you see that? And how did
- 16:34Speaker 2: you feel about her keeping this secret from the family
- 16:38Speaker 2: longer than was necessary?
- 16:42Speaker 3: Totally unfair, Like as soon as she found out, she
- 16:45Speaker 3: should have like had a conversation with the dad, you know, Yeah,
- 16:50Speaker 3: like she's an adult, Like it wasn't her fault that
- 16:53Speaker 3: there was a mix up, you know what I mean? Uh,
- 16:56Speaker 3: what about you?
- 16:58Speaker 1: No?
- 16:58Speaker 2: I did feel that way as well. But in that
- 17:01Speaker 2: moment when they're about to take the picture and she
- 17:03Speaker 2: finally tells them, I kind of could like I could
- 17:06Speaker 2: understand how someone without a family, which was interesting because
- 17:12Speaker 2: she said she had this family that fostered her, Like,
- 17:14Speaker 2: why isn't she close to them anymore?
- 17:16Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 17:16Speaker 1: They did, they pass away. I don't know, but.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Would want to prolong that feeling, even though she knew
- 17:23Speaker 2: it was going to come to an end. But I
- 17:25Speaker 2: was frustrated multiple times because she had multiple opportunities, and
- 17:29Speaker 2: we have these hallmark moments where they're interrupted, and I
- 17:32Speaker 2: always get so frustrated because it is not that hard
- 17:34Speaker 2: to say no, I have something very important to say,
- 17:37Speaker 2: and it's not about hot chocolate or any of the
- 17:41Speaker 2: don't need two people to clean up a hot chocolate spill.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Oh my god, wait a second. That scene was so
- 17:47Speaker 3: funny to me because I was like, I would have
- 17:49Speaker 3: totally reacted like that dad, because the mohonk was running
- 17:53Speaker 3: in and she's like whatever the kid's name was, spill
- 17:55Speaker 3: lot of chocolate all over the rug and he's like,
- 17:57Speaker 3: h It's like that's me, that is me. I know.
- 18:03Speaker 2: But why did she need Why couldn't she do it herself?
- 18:06Speaker 3: Why did she Well, because maybe the child had like,
- 18:10Speaker 3: you know, a hot chocolate burn. I don't know, I
- 18:15Speaker 3: don't know.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Okay, Well, there were one too many interrupted moments where
- 18:20Speaker 2: she tries to have this conversation and it doesn't happen,
- 18:23Speaker 2: and I got increasingly more frustrated that she didn't act
- 18:27Speaker 2: like an adult and say.
- 18:28Speaker 1: No, this is important.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean she was in their home. There's right
- 18:33Speaker 3: tons of other moments where she could have said, hey,
- 18:36Speaker 3: we need to talk, so yeah, yeah.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Yeah it's time for Did you see that? And I
- 18:44Speaker 2: have possibly the most exciting did you see that? Of
- 18:46Speaker 2: any homework maybe we've ever done?
- 18:49Speaker 3: I'm is it going to be the same as mine?
- 18:52Speaker 1: Is it?
- 18:52Speaker 2: Did you see Tyler Hines serving them.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Pepperm egg dog.
- 18:56Speaker 3: I did not.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Yes, I'm so excited that that why I have been
- 19:02Speaker 2: sitting on my hands waiting for this moment. I did
- 19:05Speaker 2: not want to discuss this movie because I needed to
- 19:08Speaker 2: know if you had seen that.
- 19:10Speaker 3: I'm gonna look for it right now. In the movie,
- 19:12Speaker 3: hold on, okay, wait it went scene?
- 19:14Speaker 1: Is it?
- 19:15Speaker 3: Like? Where's it?
- 19:15Speaker 2: While they're on their road trip and they stop at
- 19:17Speaker 2: a cafe for coffee, Well, they actually have peppermint eggnog.
- 19:21Speaker 3: You could call me Chris. I'm gonna call you daddy,
- 19:23Speaker 3: just kidd sorry, so cross oh wait there, Oh my god,
- 19:31Speaker 3: we're the short hair. Hold on, We're gonna try to
- 19:35Speaker 3: take a screenshot.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Wowe is Awie Times too?
- 19:37Speaker 3: I did not even know that? Is crazy? Wow. That
- 19:42Speaker 3: makes me so excited. I can't believe that you even
- 19:45Speaker 3: noticed that. So exciting Yes with this? Wow?
- 19:52Speaker 1: Yep? Wow is Awie Times too? Totally?
- 19:55Speaker 3: Totally?
- 19:57Speaker 1: Well?
- 19:57Speaker 3: Now mine is less exciting yours? Well, at the end,
- 20:02Speaker 3: when they are at what's her name, Maggie.
- 20:07Speaker 1: I don't even know there it is.
- 20:08Speaker 3: I don't know what her name is. But they're at
- 20:10Speaker 3: her apartment and the family comes and they start singing
- 20:13Speaker 3: Silent Night, which made me cry. Vanessa Night, Vanessa silent
- 20:16Speaker 3: night always makes me cry for some reason I don't know.
- 20:19Speaker 3: But so they're Caroline and then they go upstairs and
- 20:22Speaker 3: the grandma has a bottle of wine and guess what
- 20:24Speaker 3: kind of wine it was?
- 20:26Speaker 1: Homewark wine.
- 20:27Speaker 3: Yes, it was joy right on the label.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Oh that is funny, Yes, yes, yes yes.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Another one I have is when they are having a
- 20:39Speaker 3: snowball fight out in front of their house. Did you
- 20:42Speaker 3: notice like the snowballs never like broke up like when
- 20:45Speaker 3: they would throw it, like, because because I've only been
- 20:48Speaker 3: in the snow like a handful of times, and I
- 20:51Speaker 3: would think, like when you throw the snowball and it
- 20:53Speaker 3: hits somebody, it like falls apart right right. They were
- 20:56Speaker 3: like throwing these like balls, and I was like, are
- 21:00Speaker 3: they getting pelted with like these solid snowballs are.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Like like a softball thrown at you.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm like, I wonder what they were actually using
- 21:08Speaker 3: if it was just like shaved ice and then it
- 21:11Speaker 3: was all compacted together they were throwing them at each other.
- 21:15Speaker 1: I don't know, did you notice? No? Not?
- 21:17Speaker 2: Did you notice during the Christmas pageant scene when the
- 21:21Speaker 2: daughter is singing away in a manger real Millie the
- 21:23Speaker 2: Nilli vibes during that moment.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Yes, I did notice that too. It was bizarre, right, like.
- 21:30Speaker 1: She's not singing that.
- 21:31Speaker 3: No, Yeah, it was weird. I wonder what she was singing.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Do you think she was lip singing to that away
- 21:36Speaker 3: in a major song?
- 21:38Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 21:38Speaker 3: Or was her just mouth just moving in there trying
- 21:41Speaker 3: to line up the sound?
- 21:42Speaker 2: No, I think she was singing away in a manger.
- 21:44Speaker 2: That just wasn't her voice. Yeah, it was, and it
- 21:47Speaker 2: didn't perfectly line up.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I was saying, like, that's what was
- 21:51Speaker 3: weird about it to me, is like it didn't perfectly
- 21:53Speaker 3: line up. It looked really weird.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay. I have this house that's like fully decorated
- 22:02Speaker 2: for Christmas. Did you notice that the dining table has
- 22:04Speaker 2: a fusia tablecloth on it?
- 22:07Speaker 3: No?
- 22:07Speaker 1: I did it right, pink.
- 22:09Speaker 3: No, I didn't notice that's happening, Like why wouldn't it
- 22:12Speaker 3: be like a Christmas plat or something. Yes, No, one
- 22:16Speaker 3: didn't notice. They didn't notice that when Andrew Walker brings
- 22:23Speaker 3: the Christmas tree in at the end of the movie. Yes,
- 22:27Speaker 3: they never really show it, like they show like parts
- 22:30Speaker 3: of it, And I was like, well, yeah, I wonder
- 22:32Speaker 3: how hard it is to get like a Christmas tree
- 22:35Speaker 3: in August?
- 22:36Speaker 1: Right?
- 22:37Speaker 3: And then I was like a wonder because it was
- 22:39Speaker 3: real green, and I was like it hadn't been spray
- 22:41Speaker 3: painted too it maybe it was fake. It just dawned
- 22:45Speaker 3: on me that it could have been a fake tree.
- 22:47Speaker 3: Totally could have been fake.
- 22:48Speaker 1: It already had a stand on it. But you know
- 22:52Speaker 1: Christmas trees, I.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Think where there's a will, there's a way, there's got
- 22:57Speaker 2: to be a Christmas tree farm. And they're just chopping
- 22:58Speaker 2: down one that's slightly small than it might normally be.
- 23:03Speaker 3: I just was like, oh, they're not showing that tree
- 23:05Speaker 3: in full frame because it's not an actual Christmas tree. Garbage.
- 23:10Speaker 2: And when they go to make Snowman, the daughter goes dad.
- 23:13Speaker 2: They're called snow people.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Now, see that's what I'm talking about. The teenage daughter
- 23:18Speaker 3: was on point. She totally was.
- 23:20Speaker 1: And that whole thing.
- 23:21Speaker 3: We're like shopping for the dress and like, right, they
- 23:25Speaker 3: went shopped for a dress or am I make that
- 23:28Speaker 3: something else? Okay, they went and shopped for the dress,
- 23:30Speaker 3: and like she was excited about the dance and then
- 23:32Speaker 3: she danced three dances with this guy. I was like, Oh,
- 23:34Speaker 3: that's just so cute.
- 23:36Speaker 1: I love it.
- 23:38Speaker 3: And I'm wondering, like too, if that felt special to Vanessa,
- 23:44Speaker 3: because like maybe she didn't get to like do all
- 23:47Speaker 3: that kind of stuff or you know, like have a
- 23:51Speaker 3: family celebrate around it, you know what I mean.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Yeah, and I don't have a little sister, but I
- 23:58Speaker 2: would imagine that would be fun if you have a
- 24:00Speaker 2: little sister to be able to give them that experience.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Then right, go ahead, right, Okay, there's just one last thing,
- 24:10Speaker 3: and I'm sure you probably caught it because they talked
- 24:12Speaker 3: about it at the end too. But like at the
- 24:14Speaker 3: very beginning when they first meet, he's like your mom, Trish,
- 24:18Speaker 3: and she's like Patty, Patty, and like why wouldn't they
- 24:23Speaker 3: stop right there and be like wait, she went by
- 24:27Speaker 3: Patty like I got it. It could be Patricia right.
- 24:31Speaker 2: In that moment the first time she said I got it,
- 24:33Speaker 2: And the dad doesn't get it until the final scene
- 24:36Speaker 2: right exactly was wait really but just had a different name. Yeah,
- 24:42Speaker 2: and like he didn't even like pause, like he just
- 24:45Speaker 2: kept kept telling a story or whatever.
- 24:47Speaker 3: Yeah, it was that was just weird. I mean, like
- 24:50Speaker 3: that obviously is like the first like Red flag.
- 24:52Speaker 1: In it, but.
- 24:54Speaker 3: One that was easily solved.
- 24:56Speaker 4: I don't know well.
- 24:57Speaker 2: And also they're like, she didn't know she grew up
- 24:59Speaker 2: in provid So I was like, she was nine years old.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Nine year olds don't ask their parents like where they
- 25:03Speaker 2: grew up, right, that's the other thing. Yeah, I was
- 25:05Speaker 2: accept of their parents having lives outside of their own right,
- 25:09Speaker 2: And she was nine and now she's in her thirties, Like,
- 25:12Speaker 2: does she have memories of before age nine that are
- 25:16Speaker 2: like solid memories, you know, like right where her mom
- 25:20Speaker 2: lived at a certain time of her life or whatever. God, No,
- 25:24Speaker 2: what did you rate this movie?
- 25:26Speaker 3: This was almost a perfect movie. Three point seven five stars.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Three point seven five stars for me too, my highest
- 25:33Speaker 2: rating so far.
- 25:34Speaker 3: That's exciting. I would probably watch this one again. Oh
- 25:40Speaker 3: it's definitely like a throw on, Like I enjoyed it. Yeah,
- 25:46Speaker 3: I liked it. I liked it a lot. And I
- 25:48Speaker 3: was like, bravo too, Hallmark for having two really good movies.
