- 0:09Speaker 1: USA Today insider FT insider Bob Nightingale joining us right now.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Well, Bob, happy Opening Day to you.
- 0:14Speaker 1: And what did you think of the opening night festivities
- 0:18Speaker 1: between the Yankees and the Giants.
- 0:20Speaker 3: It was cool having the taxi cabs outside of the
- 0:24Speaker 3: Yankee dugout, having the street car outside of the Giants.
- 0:28Speaker 3: So yeah, great pomp and circumstance. And you know the
- 0:32Speaker 3: game it starts about a half hour after is supposed
- 0:34Speaker 3: to be. But yeah, it was fine. The past game.
- 0:36Speaker 3: I think it lasts about two five or so.
- 0:40Speaker 2: That's true.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Yes, it was fast and not the best work of
- 0:43Speaker 1: course from Logan Web, but I don't think anybody is concerned.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Do you have any concern about the Giants as a
- 0:48Speaker 2: whole in their offense.
- 0:49Speaker 1: I mean, we've talked about how they did some things
- 0:53Speaker 1: this offseason, not a lot, not the heavy hitters. They've
- 0:56Speaker 1: done some heavy hitters like adamis En Devers acquisitions in
- 0:58Speaker 1: the last year, but it was more like a Rise
- 1:01Speaker 1: Baier type moves. And I think everyone was waiting for
- 1:04Speaker 1: a big pitcher. So what did you think of their
- 1:06Speaker 1: offseason now leading into an overreaction loss on Day one?
- 1:11Speaker 3: That was an okay off season, and they, you know,
- 1:14Speaker 3: keep saying, well, we would have been signed Devers. To
- 1:16Speaker 3: trade for Devers in the off season, then people say
- 1:19Speaker 3: a great off season. So hey, Devers has got to
- 1:21Speaker 3: be the Devers of Boston or you know, they're gonna
- 1:24Speaker 3: have a long year. And Domas has got to be
- 1:26Speaker 3: the Domins of Milwaukee. You know, we saw that Spurs
- 1:29Speaker 3: last year, but wasn't the same guy. So uh, you know,
- 1:33Speaker 3: the big guys have got to produce. I love the
- 1:35Speaker 3: Arise uh you know, I mean hear he draws a
- 1:38Speaker 3: four pitch walk, you know, lead off the Giants half
- 1:42Speaker 3: in the first inning and then gets the base hit
- 1:44Speaker 3: later on. I think a Rise was a great signing.
- 1:46Speaker 3: I think he's going to help them a lot, and
- 1:48Speaker 3: I think Ron Washington will help him as well playing
- 1:51Speaker 3: second base.
- 1:55Speaker 4: Bob, Why is everyone worried about Aaron Judge? I mean,
- 1:59Speaker 4: he had one bad game. He's gonna be fine. I'll
- 2:01Speaker 4: probably win another MVP. There was one game Logan Web.
- 2:04Speaker 4: You know, they kept talking about the shadows, the shadows,
- 2:06Speaker 4: the shadows. Everyone has bad games, right just I guess
- 2:09Speaker 4: it's Opening Day, so it's overreaction. Tuesday, whatever date?
- 2:12Speaker 5: What is today?
- 2:13Speaker 4: Thursday overreaction, so I get confused on what day Opening
- 2:16Speaker 4: day is now?
- 2:18Speaker 3: Absolutely talk to uh, you know both guys after the game,
- 2:22Speaker 3: you know, Aaron in the in the clubhouse and Logan
- 2:25Speaker 3: at the team hotel later on and uh, but yeah,
- 2:28Speaker 3: I mean those things happened. Logan couple said a couple
- 2:32Speaker 3: of times to man Man, Sorry, it's stunt tonight, as
- 2:35Speaker 3: Logan one start, who cares? Same thing? You know, Aaron, Judge,
- 2:39Speaker 3: if you're gonna have a forest rackout game and you
- 2:41Speaker 3: win seven zero, you'll take it, you know, all that long.
- 2:44Speaker 3: That's a reflection of how deep the Yankee lineup is
- 2:47Speaker 3: in the sense that he can have a game like
- 2:50Speaker 3: that and then on blank. Uh you know that, you know,
- 2:53Speaker 3: everybody in that lineup, you know except for Judge got
- 2:56Speaker 3: a hit. Uh, Everybody but Judge either drove in a
- 2:59Speaker 3: run or score to run. And that's how you win
- 3:01Speaker 3: a lot of ball games.
- 3:03Speaker 6: Should this game continue, I'm not saying contracts from Netflix
- 3:07Speaker 6: or PlayStation or the Switch, whatever the contract's going to be.
- 3:11Speaker 6: I'm saying a Marquee game, and does it have to
- 3:14Speaker 6: be at a Marquee stadium? Does it have to be historic?
- 3:18Speaker 6: As they kept saying all night historic franchises, because if
- 3:21Speaker 6: that's the case, then it's just another example of the
- 3:23Speaker 6: rich getting richer.
- 3:26Speaker 3: I think you should go to whoeber wins the World Series,
- 3:28Speaker 3: you know, like the NFL, Hey, you win the Super Bowl,
- 3:30Speaker 3: you know you're going to be playing in the first
- 3:33Speaker 3: game of the NFL season. I think same thing here.
- 3:36Speaker 3: I mean used to be. You know, I ust to
- 3:37Speaker 3: love Cincinnati having the first game the day games before
- 3:40Speaker 3: everybody else. But I think whoever wins the World Series
- 3:44Speaker 3: deserves to have play that game either, you know, doesn't
- 3:47Speaker 3: matter where it's going to be, what ballpark, but it
- 3:50Speaker 3: should be that featured that team. That'd be. My only
- 3:52Speaker 3: thing is like you don't always have to have Marquis
- 3:55Speaker 3: franchises and the champion.
- 3:58Speaker 4: It used to be like that because I remember we won.
- 4:00Speaker 4: We were on the next year two thousand and six,
- 4:03Speaker 4: we were on Sunday night on ESPN. We smash smashed
- 4:07Speaker 4: the Indians and I was like sixteen to nothing, and
- 4:10Speaker 4: then we got the day game off the next the
- 4:12Speaker 4: day off the next day.
- 4:13Speaker 5: It was great.
- 4:14Speaker 4: But yeah, I agree, I think it should be if
- 4:17Speaker 4: you want to, it should be the Dodgers, right playing
- 4:18Speaker 4: and then if you want to do a marquee game,
- 4:20Speaker 4: then make the Dodgers play.
- 4:22Speaker 5: If you want to do the Giants, if you want
- 4:24Speaker 5: to do.
- 4:24Speaker 4: The whoever, whoever the Mats, or whoever, I mean, whoever
- 4:27Speaker 4: you want, whoever you.
- 4:28Speaker 5: Think is the market.
- 4:28Speaker 4: I agree, Bob with you. It should be the team
- 4:31Speaker 4: that won the World Series. They're trying to make like
- 4:32Speaker 4: the NFL anyway, so let's do it. And then the
- 4:34Speaker 4: other thing for me is I couldn't believe when they
- 4:37Speaker 4: said that was only the sixth time since what's it
- 4:41Speaker 4: called Team O PNC pack Belly, What's what's the stadium.
- 4:45Speaker 5: Called in San Francisco now a park?
- 4:49Speaker 2: It's only the.
- 4:49Speaker 4: Sixth, only the sixth time they've had opened their opener
- 4:52Speaker 4: in that park. That seems absurd to me because it's
- 4:57Speaker 4: it's in the West Coast. It's usually I mean, the
- 4:58Speaker 4: weather doesn't change, actually gets worse as the year goes on.
- 5:02Speaker 5: You would think the Giants would open a home a lot.
- 5:05Speaker 3: You know, they used to volunteer. They wanted to start
- 5:07Speaker 3: every year on the road. I'm not sure why, and
- 5:09Speaker 3: that was always a request in Major League Baseball. Can
- 5:12Speaker 3: we start to seize on the road so that that
- 5:14Speaker 3: was their own doing. And hey, it works out well
- 5:17Speaker 3: for the Yankees. You know, now they get to spend
- 5:19Speaker 3: today at wine Country. A bunch of guys are going
- 5:22Speaker 3: to Napa, guys are going to Sonoma. So pretty cool
- 5:25Speaker 3: for them having a day off and enjoy the wine
- 5:28Speaker 3: country up there.
- 5:29Speaker 6: That's the biggest smile we've seen on this on the
- 5:32Speaker 6: show by you Bob talking about a day off going
- 5:34Speaker 6: to wine country. I love it.
- 5:35Speaker 5: Okay, I'm in La now, so I'm not with them.
- 5:39Speaker 5: All right, Well, then let's talk about La.
- 5:41Speaker 6: Let's talk about the Dodgers and how they're ruining baseball,
- 5:44Speaker 6: and yet you wrote an article about how there's some
- 5:48Speaker 6: teams that are pretty close payroll wise, but they don't
- 5:50Speaker 6: get blamed for ruining baseball.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean that the Mets payrolls gave about fifty
- 5:55Speaker 3: million dollars more than the Dodgers last five years, and
- 5:59Speaker 3: Mets have spent more than the Dodgers. But yeah, teams
- 6:01Speaker 3: are right there. You know, the Yankees are right there,
- 6:04Speaker 3: the Phillies are there. Uh, you know, Atlanta's get up there.
- 6:08Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean there's too many teams that are closed. So,
- 6:10Speaker 3: like I said, the Mets. You know, are people scream
- 6:13Speaker 3: at the Mets because their payrolls about forty million dollars
- 6:15Speaker 3: more than Dodgers. They're not, so you know, hey, let's
- 6:19Speaker 3: let's be honest. And the Dodgers geld lost two years ago,
- 6:21Speaker 3: the Podreys, they could, they should lost the Phillies last
- 6:24Speaker 3: in the first round. Definitely should lost the World Series.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Things happen, and uh, you know, we'll see. I mean,
- 6:31Speaker 3: there would be no compeation in the regular season because
- 6:33Speaker 3: the Dodgers probably win, you know, ninety six wins. It
- 6:38Speaker 3: just kind of coach the playoffs. And then people will
- 6:40Speaker 3: get upset because all those guys would be healthy come
- 6:43Speaker 3: playoff time, whether it all banged up. Right now, Hey, with.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Sea keek, we're looking ahead that game. So let's look
- 6:49Speaker 1: at the weekend. Let's start with Friday. What else do
- 6:53Speaker 1: we have.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Cam Schlitzler is making his season debut.
- 6:57Speaker 1: We'll see if Luis Severino is the usual dude on
- 7:00Speaker 1: the road versus at home. Kevin Gossman pitching in that
- 7:02Speaker 1: game for Toronto. Chris Sale will pitch for Atlanta. Sandy
- 7:07Speaker 1: al Contra on the mound for the Marlins against the Rockies.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Atlanta by the way, is playing the the Royals on
- 7:14Speaker 1: the weekend here that includes what's your game?
- 7:17Speaker 2: Do you know who's pitching?
- 7:22Speaker 3: Oh?
- 7:23Speaker 2: No, they've started to lay them out.
- 7:29Speaker 6: Matchups are good. The matchups are good because it's all
- 7:33Speaker 6: the best starting pitchers going against each other. But like
- 7:36Speaker 6: the team matchups Pirates, Mets, not a lot of fight in,
- 7:40Speaker 6: you know, not like, oh, you know, we're really banging
- 7:43Speaker 6: heads here, Twins Orioles, White Sox, Brewers. It just feels
- 7:47Speaker 6: like I wanted to look down the list and go, man,
- 7:51Speaker 6: I'm seeing all these all these number ones on the mound,
- 7:54Speaker 6: and I'm like, Red Sox, Reds like what Rangers feel.
- 8:00Speaker 6: They have a long history of what opening days like.
- 8:03Speaker 6: It just feels like a weird, weird mishmash of teams.
- 8:07Speaker 2: I agree, some make sense, some don't.
- 8:09Speaker 1: By the way, AJ's game on Saturday is Waka against
- 8:11Speaker 1: Ronaldo Lopez.
- 8:13Speaker 5: Yeah it'd be good. Yeah, two good good names, Walka
- 8:16Speaker 5: and Naldo's teammate Ronaldo. Yeah, Villa was.
- 8:20Speaker 2: He didn't really pitch last year.
- 8:21Speaker 4: No, but they said as Villa was down the spring,
- 8:23Speaker 4: so we'll see. We'll find out together. But who can't
- 8:26Speaker 4: wait to go to the Atlanta. It's gonna be fun
- 8:28Speaker 4: see Vinnie, see Jack, see a bunch of the Royals,
- 8:31Speaker 4: and then see a bunch of braised people that I
- 8:34Speaker 4: know from from a long time ago.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Code for you if you want to go to any
- 8:38Speaker 1: of those games that we're talking about, Territory one zero
- 8:42Speaker 1: ten percent off tickets at Sea Geek, and you can
- 8:45Speaker 1: make sure you click the link in the description of
- 8:48Speaker 1: this episode to download the app and have the code
- 8:50Speaker 1: automatically added to your account so that you can use
- 8:53Speaker 1: it later. You know how it works with Sea Geeke.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Green means good, red means it's not their favorite at offer,
- 9:00Speaker 1: so look for the best values. They help you out
- 9:02Speaker 1: with that. Hey, Bob, some little news and notes from today.
- 9:06Speaker 1: I'll just throw them both at you to get both answers.
- 9:09Speaker 1: What did you think of the Brewers losing Jackson Churio
- 9:13Speaker 1: and how that injury started actually with an exhibition game
- 9:16Speaker 1: back in the World Baseball Classic, and then also the
- 9:18Speaker 1: Tommy fam signing, which we didn't get to yet on
- 9:20Speaker 1: our show, but a minor league contract with the Mets.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Yeah, Tommy Fam. He was actually texting when I was
- 9:28Speaker 3: on the plane this morning from San Francisco, to La,
- 9:31Speaker 3: got there close, and it got the deal done. He
- 9:33Speaker 3: had been very very's fresh grade all winter and spring, like,
- 9:36Speaker 3: my god, I can't get a job here. And some
- 9:38Speaker 3: teams you know, lied to him, say we're staying within,
- 9:41Speaker 3: and then they went and went got someone from the outside.
- 9:45Speaker 3: So he gets a two point twenty five million if
- 9:47Speaker 3: he makes it, makes a team. He does have an
- 9:49Speaker 3: opt out on April twenty fifth, so he doesn't have
- 9:52Speaker 3: to be the miners long for the mess to make
- 9:55Speaker 3: a decision. I think it's a good fit for FAM.
- 9:58Speaker 3: I think it's a good fit for the Matt's too.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Uh Yeah, bad break Injurio. Just strange that that happened
- 10:05Speaker 3: in March fourth is only being diingosed now. You know
- 10:08Speaker 3: he didn't look that good in the WBC just okay,
- 10:12Speaker 3: Uh you know he was about a ninth throughout the tournament.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Uh but yeah, you know, bad timing for the Brewers
- 10:18Speaker 3: to you know, find out now. So if I won't
- 10:21Speaker 3: see him until you know, mid late April. Uh, just
- 10:24Speaker 3: a smaller airline fracture, but still the thing should have
- 10:28Speaker 3: been diagnosed a long time ago.
- 10:30Speaker 6: Is there another move obviously, Tommy Famm is you know
- 10:33Speaker 6: a late addition to the start of the season, and
- 10:35Speaker 6: we'll see if he gets called up. Is there another
- 10:37Speaker 6: move that you suspect happening? Obviously the name Lucas Giolito
- 10:41Speaker 6: comes comes to mind. But is there another team besides
- 10:44Speaker 6: the Braves, because everyone's linking him to the Braves.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean if Atlanta wanted to sign him, they
- 10:51Speaker 3: would have signed him by now. Obviously they think he's
- 10:53Speaker 3: asking for too much money and they don't think you
- 10:55Speaker 3: can help right now, that trouble with Giolito is a
- 10:59Speaker 3: little bit like when Gallon sounded Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks went
- 11:03Speaker 3: through that thing already, where hey, if a guy misses
- 11:06Speaker 3: a good chunk of spring trail, like Jordan Montgomery, did
- 11:08Speaker 3: you know he's gonna struggle during the year. I think
- 11:11Speaker 3: Giledo's going through that right now. Teams see the research
- 11:15Speaker 3: like equal be position player in need maybe just four
- 11:18Speaker 3: or five days of spring to be fine. You can't
- 11:20Speaker 3: do that as a pitcher. So I think a lot
- 11:22Speaker 3: of teams are saying, yeah, I like to have Gilito,
- 11:25Speaker 3: but what am I really getting And how long will
- 11:27Speaker 3: it take for Henry right? I mean, that's that's a
- 11:30Speaker 3: long time for a pitcher, and I think that hurts
- 11:32Speaker 3: his value.
- 11:34Speaker 4: But can't he just sign and then go through it?
- 11:37Speaker 4: Doesn't it seem like you? I mean, and then maybe
- 11:40Speaker 4: he might have to take less. What's he gonna do?
- 11:41Speaker 4: Sit out a year and then sign, try to sign
- 11:43Speaker 4: next year, go pitch an independent ball ball.
- 11:45Speaker 5: He doesn't.
- 11:46Speaker 4: He's too good of a picture for someone not to
- 11:49Speaker 4: have signed him, and for him to have never lowered
- 11:50Speaker 4: his standards or what he signed for.
- 11:52Speaker 5: It doesn't make sense.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean sometimes he's got lower as a demand.
- 11:56Speaker 3: I mean, it wasn't like I had a draft pick conversation. Uh,
- 12:00Speaker 3: you know, everybody knows his track work everything else. I
- 12:02Speaker 3: don't know what he's asking for, but obviously it's more
- 12:04Speaker 3: than anybody wants to give him or he would been
- 12:06Speaker 3: to sign you know, a long time ago. Uh you know,
- 12:09Speaker 3: maybe he's waiting for some other team to have key
- 12:11Speaker 3: injury besides Atlanta. But you know, how long is it
- 12:15Speaker 3: going to take for him to be ready? Uh? You
- 12:17Speaker 3: know mid May, late May, and you know, what are
- 12:20Speaker 3: you gonna get? That's a lot of time missed for him, Bob.
- 12:26Speaker 1: What about overall storylines for you heading into this season?
- 12:29Speaker 1: Like pick out one or two that you're really curious
- 12:32Speaker 1: to watch, whether it's a team, a player A rule
- 12:35Speaker 1: of course, the obvious ABS challenge system is out there,
- 12:38Speaker 1: which began last night.
- 12:41Speaker 3: I'm so fascinated by Detroit. I love the fact they
- 12:44Speaker 3: signed Framer Belt as uh and you know now that
- 12:47Speaker 3: you have the the two races. I mean he got
- 12:50Speaker 3: flaring number three Berlin and number four. Love to see
- 12:53Speaker 3: Berlin or have such a great season where it, you know,
- 12:56Speaker 3: thinks about coming back. He still has that three hundred
- 12:59Speaker 3: in his mind. He should have won more games last year.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Just a bad break. I think that's two giants in
- 13:05Speaker 3: the America League. I mean, obviously we got the Al East,
- 13:08Speaker 3: but just with Chiel and Detroit. And he's almost a
- 13:11Speaker 3: Quinn flit between those two in two Juggernauts, and of
- 13:15Speaker 3: course the nationally like, okay, who's going to knock off
- 13:18Speaker 3: the Dodgers. I still think people don't talk enough about
- 13:21Speaker 3: the Phillies. I still think the Phillies have another run
- 13:23Speaker 3: left in him. I pick Bryce Harper to win the MVP.
- 13:27Speaker 3: I think he's going to come in with a chip
- 13:29Speaker 3: on his shoulder and show people that you know what
- 13:31Speaker 3: you know. I haven't been considering a top ten player
- 13:34Speaker 3: now for a few years. And the MVP belting and stuff.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Let me show me what I can still do.
- 13:40Speaker 5: Talk about awards.
- 13:42Speaker 6: What about the Rookie of the Year, because there's a
- 13:44Speaker 6: lot of Connor Griffin isn't up, so people wanted to
- 13:47Speaker 6: pick him as Rookie of the Year. But then you
- 13:49Speaker 6: have Kevin McGonagall, then you have some guys coming over
- 13:51Speaker 6: from Japan.
- 13:53Speaker 5: Where do you feel like the Rookie of the Year race?
- 13:56Speaker 6: Where do you feel like it goes through here going
- 13:58Speaker 6: on Opening Day?
- 14:01Speaker 3: Well, certain America that I think McGonagall as long as
- 14:03Speaker 3: Detroit wins. I mean, if you can have a good,
- 14:05Speaker 3: solid year and your team, you know, wins the UH Division,
- 14:10Speaker 3: that really, you know, gives you a lot of extra
- 14:12Speaker 3: credit points and you should have an advantage over someone
- 14:15Speaker 3: might have better stats, but whose team doesn't make the playoffs.
- 14:19Speaker 3: And then nationally, I think, you know, Nolan McLean's got
- 14:21Speaker 3: a huge advantage just because uh, you know, he's already
- 14:24Speaker 3: got eight starts in the big leagues. Uh if you
- 14:27Speaker 3: just fell short of rookie status, so, uh, he knows
- 14:31Speaker 3: how to pitch a tough guy. I think He's a
- 14:33Speaker 3: clear cut favorite in the nationally to be that guy.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Uh You, We'll see about somebody else, but I like
- 14:40Speaker 3: McLean a lot. Uh So, just just to have that
- 14:43Speaker 3: advantage aboard of being a rookie. It's almost like, you know,
- 14:46Speaker 3: rookie two point zero.
- 14:49Speaker 2: We're a live show.
- 14:50Speaker 1: So I'll throw a team your way because it's the
- 14:53Speaker 1: first game of the day, and we had O'Neil Cruz
- 14:56Speaker 1: with a little knock in the center field. He sets
- 14:59Speaker 1: the ta able for Brandon Loud New Pittsburgh Pirates to
- 15:02Speaker 1: hit a two run home run off of Freddie Peraltez.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Opening days underway in Queens. But I'll do the big
- 15:08Speaker 1: picture question. Do you think that the Pirates have done
- 15:11Speaker 1: enough to put themselves in the playoff mix. I'm not
- 15:13Speaker 1: even gonna say make the playoffs, but like we're going
- 15:15Speaker 1: to talk about the Pirates in September and be like
- 15:17Speaker 1: they're within two three games, they have a shot. And
- 15:21Speaker 1: you've seen them now in spring training. You've seen, of
- 15:23Speaker 1: course that Connor Griffin's not starting the year with the team.
- 15:26Speaker 1: But where are we at with the Pirates?
- 15:29Speaker 3: I think if they finished five hundred, it's a great
- 15:31Speaker 3: year for him. I used to think that instead of
- 15:33Speaker 3: being a contenders, dat's about disrespectability. And they spent some money,
- 15:37Speaker 3: they still just spend more money.
- 15:40Speaker 2: I mean.
- 15:40Speaker 3: The bottom line is this is, you know, one of
- 15:42Speaker 3: the most profitable teams in all of baseball, and you've
- 15:46Speaker 3: got to take advantage of schemes and in these you know,
- 15:49Speaker 3: young pitchers. I do like the fact they got some offense,
- 15:52Speaker 3: but you still in that division, you still got to
- 15:55Speaker 3: go through the Cubs and the Brewers. The Reds are
- 15:57Speaker 3: a bitter team. So no matter what to Pirates do,
- 16:00Speaker 3: it is still hard. You know, for see that these
- 16:03Speaker 3: guys a going to finish higher than third place, if not,
- 16:07Speaker 3: you know, if not fourth place. I just think Brewers
- 16:10Speaker 3: and Cubs the Reds are just you know, better teams
- 16:12Speaker 3: than they are.
- 16:13Speaker 6: All right, there are so many new managers. Which of
- 16:15Speaker 6: the new managers has the best record at the end
- 16:18Speaker 6: of the season. I wasn't gonna say playoffs, just which
- 16:20Speaker 6: of the new managers teams has the best record at
- 16:23Speaker 6: the end of the season.
- 16:26Speaker 3: I'll go Baltimore. I just think it's a Goldman. I
- 16:30Speaker 3: don't think that got Red Band high. I think Van
- 16:32Speaker 3: Hyde should have got a job for what he did
- 16:35Speaker 3: bringing that team from nothing and you know, one one
- 16:38Speaker 3: hundred games a couple of years ago. So I think
- 16:41Speaker 3: that team bounces back no matter who is going to
- 16:43Speaker 3: be the manager. So I'll go Baltimore. I think they
- 16:48Speaker 3: knocking their worth for the playoffs, should make the playoffs.
- 16:50Speaker 3: They wish they got that one more big started. They
- 16:52Speaker 3: never got that guy. But it's still a much better
- 16:56Speaker 3: team that showed a year ago, and I think they
- 16:58Speaker 3: bounced back, So I'll go ball More Bob.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Last one for you.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Did you hear the Barry Bond story last night about
- 17:06Speaker 1: George Steinberner And what was your reaction to that?
- 17:09Speaker 2: You have anything to it?
- 17:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I've heard a story. I know his agent, well,
- 17:14Speaker 3: uh ag knows versus White Sox and is Gilbert. Remember
- 17:17Speaker 3: now Starnberger was suspended at that time. He wasn't even
- 17:20Speaker 3: in the picture. Bonds. Uh you know that time. I
- 17:24Speaker 3: don't care if you want to play for New York
- 17:25Speaker 3: or not. You've got to pretend like you want to
- 17:27Speaker 3: play for the Yankees just to get that bending up.
- 17:30Speaker 3: And you know he wanted the bending up for San Francisco,
- 17:33Speaker 3: So that never would have happen if it was going
- 17:36Speaker 3: to happen to hang up the phone. Fine, you know
- 17:38Speaker 3: that the agent in this case, Denis Gilbert, would be called, hey,
- 17:41Speaker 3: sorry about that. I think is uh his phone got
- 17:44Speaker 3: cut off. He's sutainly gonna. I've got ties with you.
- 17:47Speaker 3: But you're not going to cut ties with the Yankees
- 17:49Speaker 3: and George Starnberg. You know, no matter if you had
- 17:52Speaker 3: any interest in going to the Yankees, you won the
- 17:54Speaker 3: Yankees being involved, you were not going to upset Starnberger,
- 17:57Speaker 3: and Starnberger was a spending at that time.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Well, Barry put on a good show last night. He
- 18:03Speaker 1: was telling some good stories, so I enjoyed it.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Bob, Thank you, Happy Opening Day to you.
- 18:09Speaker 3: All right, my pleasure. Thank you guys. Take care.

- 19:08Speaker 1: only varies by plan because when dinner tastes this good,
- 19:12Speaker 1: nothing hits like home cooking. Finishing up on the opening broadcast,
- 19:17Speaker 1: what did you think of that story from Barry with
- 19:20Speaker 1: stein Berner.
- 19:22Speaker 5: Yeah, I'd love to know how I mean, I think
- 19:24Speaker 5: Bob said, is it? I mean, I'm.
- 19:26Speaker 4: Assuming it's true, But it was one of those like,
- 19:30Speaker 4: I mean, does he really hang up on George Steinbrener?
- 19:32Speaker 4: But he ended up where he wanted it up San Francisco.
- 19:34Speaker 4: So good for Barry. Listen, Barry. The better story for
- 19:38Speaker 4: me was when Barry told the real story when he
- 19:40Speaker 4: said I wasn't a great teammate off the field, but
- 19:43Speaker 4: on the field he was, and that is true. There
- 19:44Speaker 4: was no better teammate to have in the batter's box
- 19:46Speaker 4: than Barry Bonds. So listen, I got along with Barry.
- 19:49Speaker 4: I like Barry. He didn't bother me because he would
- 19:51Speaker 4: dish it out and I would give it back to him.
- 19:54Speaker 4: And that was fine, and I had but I thought
- 19:57Speaker 4: that was a I thought that was a great story
- 19:59Speaker 4: when he said, hey, I wasn't a great teammate outfield,
- 20:01Speaker 4: which never saw him, but he's like I was the
- 20:04Speaker 4: best on the field.
- 20:05Speaker 5: He was right about that.
- 20:06Speaker 2: So that would be my question.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Do players need Barry to be leading the charge and
- 20:12Speaker 1: a sea on his chest and taking everyone out to
- 20:15Speaker 1: dinner or does he just need to show up, hit
- 20:17Speaker 1: dangers and get on base.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Yeah, as you said, he was the best teammate when
- 20:20Speaker 4: he got in the box, the best team that I
- 20:22Speaker 4: ever played with by far right when he stepped in
- 20:25Speaker 4: the batter's box. So I mean, listen, did he talk yeah?
- 20:28Speaker 4: Did he hang out no? Did he have his own hotel?
- 20:30Speaker 5: Yes?
- 20:30Speaker 4: I understood why because he was staying away from people
- 20:32Speaker 4: like I. I had no problem with any Did I get
- 20:34Speaker 4: to go to his birthday party.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Yes.
- 20:35Speaker 5: Did I get to do things Yes with Barry, Yes,
- 20:41Speaker 5: But I mean.
- 20:42Speaker 4: He wasn't a guy that was going to hang out
- 20:43Speaker 4: at the hotel bar and drink with you and have
- 20:45Speaker 4: a beer and talk. No, it wasn't baring, but he
- 20:47Speaker 4: knew that going in. He showed up when he wanted to,
- 20:49Speaker 4: He did what he wanted to. But as long as
- 20:50Speaker 4: he was great when he stepped on that field, I
- 20:52Speaker 4: didn't care.
- 20:53Speaker 6: The reality is, if you're an average player, you do
- 20:56Speaker 6: need to do those other things so that you bring
- 20:59Speaker 6: extra value. Barry bonds, if he chooses not to do that,
- 21:03Speaker 6: he's bringing all that value. So until you have more
- 21:06Speaker 6: value than him to your team. Yeah, maybe you do
- 21:09Speaker 6: need to hang out with the boys, Maybe you do
- 21:11Speaker 6: need to be a different type of teammate. But to me,
- 21:14Speaker 6: all the people that complained about that, it's like you don't.
- 21:18Speaker 6: Everybody has their issues or or just their own personalities.
- 21:23Speaker 6: Like you don't have to be somebody you're not. That
- 21:26Speaker 6: doesn't that doesn't give that doesn't give any value to
- 21:29Speaker 6: the team.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Award season is here, preseason awards picks, predictions, what's gonna
- 21:46Speaker 1: happen for the rest of the year. We already went
- 21:48Speaker 1: through teams, who's gonna win divisions, make the playoffs, when
- 21:50Speaker 1: the World Series, the whole deal. Now, let's go over
- 21:52Speaker 1: the individual accolades and where we think it will go down.
- 21:55Speaker 1: So AJ, would you like to start and give us
- 21:59Speaker 1: I guess take us Rookie of the Year, Manager of
- 22:01Speaker 1: the Year SI, and then into MVP, and we'll throw
- 22:04Speaker 1: Reliever of the Year in there too, since that's a
- 22:06Speaker 1: new award that'll be at BBWAA Awards.
- 22:09Speaker 4: Okay, Rookie of the Year, I'm going Mark COMMI check
- 22:11Speaker 4: out my shirt. I think he's gonna hit thirty five plus.
- 22:13Speaker 4: So we're going Maricami n l JJ Weatherholt. Why because
- 22:17Speaker 4: he's in Saint Louis. They'll hpe him up and he'll
- 22:19Speaker 4: get to play every day. So I think that's you
- 22:21Speaker 4: know McLain, Yes, I understand that argument, but he's in
- 22:24Speaker 4: New York and I just think that.
- 22:25Speaker 5: And then we're going.
- 22:27Speaker 4: Manager of the Year Texas. I'm going skip Manager of
- 22:30Speaker 4: the Year in the NL. I'm going Tory Lavello in
- 22:33Speaker 4: Arizona because I picked him both to make the playoffs.
- 22:35Speaker 5: Al Sig, I'm going my guy Hunter Brown.
- 22:37Speaker 4: I just think he's gonna have a great year for
- 22:39Speaker 4: the Houston Astros NLSI I'm not going Paul Skeanes. I'm
- 22:42Speaker 4: going Christopher Sanchez. I just think he's really good. He's
- 22:45Speaker 4: left handed, and he's gonna have an opportunity MVP shot
- 22:48Speaker 4: Judge o'tanni and listen, if cal Rawly didn't win the
- 22:51Speaker 4: MVP un lists Aaron Judge gets hurt, he's gonna win
- 22:52Speaker 4: it again. And if show Hay doesn't get hurt, he's
- 22:54Speaker 4: gonna win it again. Okay, just you just they might
- 22:57Speaker 4: have to rename the awards Judge and o'tawni because they're.
- 22:59Speaker 5: Never gonna not win.
- 23:00Speaker 4: And then really over the year, Andres Munoz because I
- 23:02Speaker 4: think the Mariners are going to be really good.
- 23:04Speaker 5: And for an I'm going off the grid a little bit.
- 23:05Speaker 4: I'm going Devin Williams because I think in the Mets
- 23:08Speaker 4: camp he's gonna get a lot of opportunities for saves
- 23:10Speaker 4: and I think he's gonna improve in year two in Europe.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Nice, Okay, any thoughts Kratz or would you like to
- 23:17Speaker 1: start rolling yours?
- 23:18Speaker 5: I like it.
- 23:19Speaker 6: I think I think A J's right on with the
- 23:22Speaker 6: more COMI I don't think he's gonna win the Rookie
- 23:24Speaker 6: of the Year, but I think he's gonna hit thirty
- 23:26Speaker 6: five homers. I love that and I completely agree. Obviously
- 23:30Speaker 6: Otani is going to win it. But you'll see my
- 23:34Speaker 6: picks in a little bit, and I like, I like
- 23:36Speaker 6: your manager of the year picks. I know that's not
- 23:38Speaker 6: like a big, a big thing. I like that because
- 23:41Speaker 6: I think they're two teams that nobody's expecting and yet
- 23:45Speaker 6: they have a chance to make the playoffs.
- 23:48Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:48Speaker 1: For example, I'll just pick up the manager of the year.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Our buddy Jim Boden on his GM Territory show, I
- 23:54Speaker 1: think it was him. He said Aaron Boone was his
- 23:57Speaker 1: pick for Manager of the Year. Here's my take on that.
- 24:00Speaker 1: It's so difficult for someone like Boone because the expectations
- 24:04Speaker 1: are already high.
- 24:06Speaker 2: It's much easier to pick.
- 24:07Speaker 1: A manager of the Year candidate who's with a team
- 24:10Speaker 1: where you're like, hey, I think they could take another
- 24:12Speaker 1: step where I think they could surprise some people, right,
- 24:15Speaker 1: or they're a fringe team, and if they make the
- 24:17Speaker 1: playoffs and there's a good narrative to it, then I
- 24:21Speaker 1: go that route.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Skip Schumacher is the prime example.
- 24:25Speaker 1: He won it right in the past, he won it
- 24:27Speaker 1: with a Marlins team, then had the weird situation with Miami.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Nothing on him, they just were making changes, and then
- 24:34Speaker 1: takes over a Rangers team that didn't make the playoffs
- 24:36Speaker 1: last year. That adds up a lot more than say Boone.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Boone just has a lot. It's like the Yankees would
- 24:42Speaker 1: have to like crush the division and win one hundred games.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Or something like that. That's just asking a lot, all right.
- 24:48Speaker 1: So if you don't think Murakami's gonna win AL Rookie
- 24:51Speaker 1: of the Year, who do you have?
- 24:53Speaker 5: Kevin mcgonagd.
- 24:54Speaker 6: I think Kevin McGonagall just like AJ said about JJ Weatherholt,
- 24:58Speaker 6: I think he's going to get a little lot of
- 25:00Speaker 6: at bats, and I think it's a team that's going
- 25:02Speaker 6: to be winning, and I think that's I know it's
- 25:04Speaker 6: a chalk pick, but watching his at bats last year
- 25:08Speaker 6: in the minor leagues and then this year in spring training,
- 25:10Speaker 6: like it's the type of hitter that you're like, that's
- 25:14Speaker 6: how you should swing if you are not six foot five,
- 25:17Speaker 6: two hundred and seventy pounds, Like, that's that's how you
- 25:20Speaker 6: can be an all around hitter. And then I'm going
- 25:23Speaker 6: NL Rookie of the Year. This was my toughest of
- 25:26Speaker 6: all my predictions. I really wanted to put Bubba Chandler
- 25:29Speaker 6: in there. I think Bubba Chandler just his stuff. I
- 25:33Speaker 6: think his moxie. I think just his like like unafraid
- 25:37Speaker 6: to be the guy that he is. I think he's
- 25:40Speaker 6: he's gonna have a really good year. But I think
- 25:42Speaker 6: Noel McClain ends up winning it. Matt Katruro Katrro because
- 25:47Speaker 6: the Royals are gonna make it. And if the Royals
- 25:49Speaker 6: make it, I don't care who your manager is, He's
- 25:52Speaker 6: going to be Manager of the Year. Tito because the
- 25:55Speaker 6: Reds are not expected to do anything. I mean, CBS
- 25:57Speaker 6: had him as the twenty second best team in the game,
- 26:02Speaker 6: and I had the Reds making the playoffs and Tito
- 26:05Speaker 6: does his thing. American League. Second toughest decision. I thought
- 26:10Speaker 6: it was going to be Scoobale, but then I thought,
- 26:12Speaker 6: you know what, it's time. It's time for somebody in Seattle.
- 26:15Speaker 6: The team I picked to go. I think I picked
- 26:19Speaker 6: him to have the best record or second best record
- 26:21Speaker 6: in the American League behind the Tigers, and I think
- 26:24Speaker 6: I think it will be Logan Gilbert's year to win
- 26:27Speaker 6: the SIUM. I picked Paul Skeins. Not off to a
- 26:30Speaker 6: great start today, but that's okay. Paul Skeins will be
- 26:34Speaker 6: at the end of the year's era will probably still
- 26:36Speaker 6: be down below two and to al MVP. I do
- 26:41Speaker 6: think if one of the two, Judge or Otani can
- 26:45Speaker 6: be beaten, it's Judge.
- 26:47Speaker 5: Otani has no.
- 26:48Speaker 6: Chance of being beaten unless he's only doing one of
- 26:50Speaker 6: the two things that he's really good at. And so
- 26:54Speaker 6: I'm thinking Bobby Witt Junior, Bobby wit Junior is going
- 26:56Speaker 6: to lead this Royal team to the playoffs, and he's
- 27:02Speaker 6: gonna do it with the elite defense, elite base running
- 27:05Speaker 6: he might have. He might have a forty to forty
- 27:09Speaker 6: type of season, like that type of thing. Historic type
- 27:12Speaker 6: of things from shortstops usually gets you a lot of notoriety.
- 27:16Speaker 6: Andres Munos continuing, the Mariners winning a lot of games
- 27:20Speaker 6: in the American League West and the newest ex met
- 27:25Speaker 6: to go to the Dodgers, Edwin Diaz National League Reliever
- 27:29Speaker 6: of the Year.
- 27:30Speaker 5: Very nice.
- 27:32Speaker 2: So you've got Wit over Judge.
- 27:35Speaker 1: He's probably the guy that has the best shot, right,
- 27:38Speaker 1: Is that your number two?
- 27:39Speaker 5: Probably?
- 27:40Speaker 4: Yeah, because he can steal bases, plays defense plays an elite.
- 27:43Speaker 5: But cal Rawley, again, if cal Raly didn't win it
- 27:45Speaker 5: last year, how did someone win it? You can't. It's
- 27:48Speaker 5: the same with Totani.
- 27:51Speaker 6: If Judge doesn't hit three point thirty, that's how wit
- 27:55Speaker 6: will look. If Judge does what he does, like people
- 27:58Speaker 6: are saying, well, that was a historic season. What he's
- 28:00Speaker 6: done in the years he stays healthy, he's almost unbeatable.
- 28:04Speaker 6: He's almost like you can't stop Aaron Judge because his
- 28:07Speaker 6: own base per sage is going to be over four hundred.
- 28:09Speaker 6: But when you hit three point thirty with his power,
- 28:13Speaker 6: like that's it's unstoppable.
- 28:15Speaker 5: It's not like he was.
- 28:17Speaker 6: He was outpacing the entire league, not just cal Rawley,
- 28:20Speaker 6: the entire league.
- 28:23Speaker 1: I also think that when we've talked about this in
- 28:25Speaker 1: the offseason, catchers don't get as much love in the
- 28:29Speaker 1: war category as they should. I think they should get more.
- 28:31Speaker 1: I know they get some, they should get more. Yeah,
- 28:35Speaker 1: So I think that's part of it. Obviously, Yeah, catchers
- 28:39Speaker 1: get more love, shortstops, whatever, But I don't think they
- 28:41Speaker 1: get enough a catcher compared to an outfielder. But that's
- 28:45Speaker 1: last year's topic. Let's get to stat leaders, so AJ
- 28:49Speaker 1: will show your board. You want to run through offense
- 28:51Speaker 1: and then pitching for us?
- 28:53Speaker 4: Uh sure, I'm going Judge home runs, RBIs, Peter Alonzo.
- 28:57Speaker 4: I just think he's in a good lineup, Bobby Witt,
- 28:59Speaker 4: stolen bases, free him e er a leader schemes. Not today,
- 29:02Speaker 4: but he'll be better. Like I said, Freddy Parl Tay
- 29:04Speaker 4: got off to a rough star fine Andres Munio saves
- 29:07Speaker 4: leader because of their in the K leader Sanchez look
- 29:09Speaker 4: up how many case he had last year? He had
- 29:12Speaker 4: a lot of strikeouts, and I think he's just gonna improve.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Yeah, he keeps getting better. The team just took care
- 29:18Speaker 1: of him too. They really took care of him. They
- 29:21Speaker 1: give him a lot more money for one extra year, sign.
- 29:29Speaker 6: Sign a nice team, nice team deal. And they said, wow,
- 29:33Speaker 6: great job, we'll re up you again. And he said, okay, cool,
- 29:37Speaker 6: I'll take it. He's a He's a sneaky, really really
- 29:41Speaker 6: tall guy too. By the way, if you ever get
- 29:43Speaker 6: to see him in person, I think he's like six'.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Six so, anyway what about your, list how does it?
- 29:50Speaker 5: Differ Uh, Aron, judge it's going to be the home run.
- 29:54Speaker 6: LEADER i think the RBIs i had to go to
- 29:57Speaker 6: a place where a lot of runs are, scored AND
- 29:59Speaker 6: i think they have a really good. Offense So i'm
- 30:01Speaker 6: Going Nick. Kurtz an entire year Of Nick. Kurtz i'm
- 30:05Speaker 6: not gonna say he's gonna get one hundred and, fifty
- 30:07Speaker 6: But i'm saying if he eclipses one, thirty we're talking
- 30:11Speaker 6: about like a dude that's just gonna be able to
- 30:13Speaker 6: drive so many runs in because of his bats and
- 30:17Speaker 6: his team around. Him stone base Leader Jose ramirez is
- 30:20Speaker 6: sick and freaking tired of not leading the league in one,
- 30:24Speaker 6: category SO i think he's going to take it this.
- 30:26Speaker 6: YEAR i think at forty some last, year he's gonna
- 30:29Speaker 6: flirt with forty forty. Again like he's a guaranteed thirty
- 30:33Speaker 6: thirty every. Year So Jose, ramirez and Then i'm Going
- 30:37Speaker 6: Paul Skeens era leader took a hit, today but the
- 30:41Speaker 6: saves Leader Edwin diez is going to have the most
- 30:44Speaker 6: and Strikeouts Garrett. Crochet while he's not gonna be the
- 30:49Speaker 6: cy young, winner he is just he's a strikeout. Machine
- 30:52Speaker 6: he doesn't even have To he throws the ball right
- 30:54Speaker 6: down the middle and some guys miss So Garrett crochet
- 30:58Speaker 6: strikeouts very.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Nice anything else you're looking forward to here to start
- 31:07Speaker 1: the season for the awards or for the. SEASON i
- 31:11Speaker 1: guess you could technically do, both but for the, awards
- 31:17Speaker 1: not anybody you were like having a tough time leaving.
- 31:20Speaker 5: OUT i MEAN i have a tough.
- 31:24Speaker 6: TIME i have a tough time not not looking to somebody,
- 31:27Speaker 6: else like LIKE i. COULDN'T i wanted to find a
- 31:31Speaker 6: place somewhere on here For Pee, alonso LIKE i was
- 31:34Speaker 6: thinking about THE. RBIs i just think The orioles offense
- 31:40Speaker 6: is a lot like The a's. OFFENSE i feel Like
- 31:42Speaker 6: Pee alonso in this new, place the new. CONTRACT i
- 31:46Speaker 6: think some guys get complacent with a new. CONTRACT i
- 31:49Speaker 6: think he is the exact opposite and will just catapult this.
- 31:54Speaker 6: TEAM i think This orioles team is going to score
- 31:56Speaker 6: a ton of. RUNS i think he is going to
- 31:59Speaker 6: be the catalyst to. THAT i think he's gonna give
- 32:01Speaker 6: protection To gunner Because. Pete you can pitch Around, pete
- 32:06Speaker 6: but he can still hit that slider off the plate for.
- 32:10Speaker 6: Damage he can still drive guys. In he's learning how
- 32:13Speaker 6: to hit more and, more AND i think HE'S i
- 32:16Speaker 6: THINK i wanted him somewhere on one of these later,
- 32:19Speaker 6: boards BUT i couldn't fit him in because he's not
- 32:21Speaker 6: gonna win the stolen base or THE.
- 32:24Speaker 1: ERI i toe, right home runs are. RBIs do you
- 32:29Speaker 1: guys believe in the narrative of the motivation carrying above
- 32:34Speaker 1: what a player already is motivated to.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Do i'll just use too. Easy you don't think.
- 32:37Speaker 1: So you don't Think pete Or Bryce harper feel like extra?
- 32:41Speaker 2: Juice are gonna work?
- 32:42Speaker 5: Harder are you gonna try?
- 32:43Speaker 2: HARDER i don't.
- 32:43Speaker 5: Know that's Why i'm hopefully they're trying hard all the.
- 32:46Speaker 5: TIME i think that's one of the biggest false.
- 32:48Speaker 4: Narratives by the, way one of the one of the
- 32:50Speaker 4: things we were supposed to say is the first manager,
- 32:51Speaker 4: FIRED i DON'T i look through the list of, MANAGERS
- 32:54Speaker 4: i don't know who would gets, Fired like, literally between
- 32:58Speaker 4: the new ones and the guys they're not gonna, OKAY
- 33:01Speaker 4: i mean UNLESS i don't, know there's so many new, ones,
- 33:04Speaker 4: Okay So Twins Oriols Twins shelton just got There Orioles
- 33:08Speaker 4: auburn has just got?
- 33:09Speaker 5: There, Right angels Kurts zuki's on a one year.
- 33:11Speaker 4: Deal they're not gonna fire him in a one year.
- 33:12Speaker 4: Deal astros Maybe JOE. A, spotta But Kevin cash ain't
- 33:16Speaker 4: never getting. Fired Olie marmele just sign an. Extension Tory
- 33:18Speaker 4: leavello they Love Dave roberts ain't going, Anywhere Alex cora
- 33:22Speaker 4: ain't going, Anywhere tito Frank cone ain't going.
- 33:24Speaker 5: Anywhere aj hnch ain't going.
- 33:26Speaker 4: Anywhere they just Hired Craig stamon In San, Diego Skip
- 33:29Speaker 4: schumacher's new Maybe Rob, thompson BUT i think they're gonna be.
- 33:32Speaker 5: Good SO i don't think he's. In Stephen vote In.
- 33:34Speaker 4: Cleveland, No Dan wilson In, Seattle, No No Aaron, Boone,
- 33:40Speaker 4: No Tony vaitello just hired What rocky's just hired a new.
- 33:43Speaker 4: Manager he's not getting, fired, Right marlins they love Uh clayton. McCollough,
- 33:50Speaker 4: right who's gonna get like if you can Fight? Royals
- 33:53Speaker 4: fortaro's not getting. Fired and they just Hired Walt. Weiss
- 33:55Speaker 4: and then The a's Have Mark cootze who's a, lifer
- 33:58Speaker 4: And John sneyder just signed. Extension find me a man
- 34:00Speaker 4: is gonna get fired this year during the. SEASON i
- 34:02Speaker 4: know it's a popular.
- 34:03Speaker 5: THING i just don't know who WOULD i don't know
- 34:04Speaker 5: where it would. BE i got To that's WHY i said.
- 34:07Speaker 5: None they asked, Me i'm, like. NONE i don't think
- 34:09Speaker 5: anyone's getting. Fired.
- 34:10Speaker 2: No chances are super.
- 34:11Speaker 1: LOW i guess technically, three but it's all based on
- 34:15Speaker 1: the team performance in the first few months of the.
- 34:18Speaker 2: SEASON i think they're gonna Fire.
- 34:19Speaker 5: Windows it would be, one BUT i don't think he's getting.
- 34:21Speaker 1: Fired it's only if they would have to completely yeah,
- 34:26Speaker 1: them you said a spota, AGAIN i think The ashlers
- 34:30Speaker 1: would be. Good but let's say The ashers are twelve
- 34:32Speaker 1: games under five hundred On june, first you're gonna be, like,
- 34:35Speaker 1: Okay Jim crane is pretty.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Aggressive he might pull the trigger.
- 34:39Speaker 4: If that WAS i don't think during the season he,
- 34:41Speaker 4: will though now by the at, Least robert just dove
- 34:43Speaker 4: over a ball that was going to hit him in his,
- 34:45Speaker 4: shoulder WHICH i find.
- 34:47Speaker 5: Awesome but what do you talk? About crowd got, him excited.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Him and then there was one other that you.
- 34:55Speaker 1: SAID i, MEAN i think The phillies are gonna win the,
- 34:58Speaker 1: division SO i don't think they're gonna have a. Problem
- 34:59Speaker 1: but if The philly these were ten games under five
- 35:01Speaker 1: hundred and, like these are to me somewhat unrealistic expectations
- 35:05Speaker 1: to think that one of these isn't going to be
- 35:07Speaker 1: in good.
- 35:07Speaker 6: SHAPE i did the same practice THAT aj just. DID
- 35:11Speaker 6: i did it at my, house LIKE i just don't see.
- 35:15Speaker 6: Anybody so WHEN i was told to put somebody, Down
- 35:18Speaker 6: Ozzie gian's getting fired this, Year so.
- 35:22Speaker 5: Throw a name in.
- 35:22Speaker 6: There see if anybody was actually reading my.
- 35:24Speaker 2: List but that's messed. Up that's why best.
- 35:28Speaker 6: Broadcasts that's WHY i Asked Robert murray if if if
- 35:34Speaker 6: the over under is one and a, HALF i honestly
- 35:37Speaker 6: believe this is a year it's weird because they have
- 35:40Speaker 6: so many new. Hirings it would be, really really weird
- 35:43Speaker 6: to see more than one guy.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Fired, Okay i'm going to do that over under is
- 35:51Speaker 1: set at point.
- 35:52Speaker 5: Five i'll still take the.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Under so you think the entire season zero manager, FIRINGS i.
- 36:00Speaker 5: Mean the people be. Gone it doesn't.
- 36:04Speaker 2: Count Between april And.
- 36:07Speaker 1: September you guys both think there will be zero.
- 36:10Speaker 4: Lot if things go away that we think they're going to,
- 36:12Speaker 4: GO i. DON'T i, mean let's something crazy could. Happen,
- 36:14Speaker 4: Yeah i'm just gonna go situation.
- 36:17Speaker 5: Where he just gets fired in the middle of the
- 36:19Speaker 5: year for, whatever.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Right non trouble off the field performance related the.
- 36:25Speaker 5: Teams we just went through most of the.
- 36:27Speaker 4: TEAMS i, Mean, Okay mendy and In, toporore the two
- 36:30Speaker 4: that people talk about the. MOST i just don't see
- 36:33Speaker 4: it BECAUSE i think The phillies in The mets are
- 36:34Speaker 4: both going to be, Good so why would you fire
- 36:36Speaker 4: the manager if you're?
- 36:37Speaker 5: Good and the other guy that people mention Is Kurt
- 36:39Speaker 5: zuzuki's on a one year deal already right. Now just
- 36:41Speaker 5: let him finish a year and then go from. There
- 36:42Speaker 5: what's the?
- 36:43Speaker 1: Point, YEAH i, AGREE i DON'T i don't see that one.
- 36:48Speaker 1: HAPPENING i just feel like between everything we, said something
- 36:51Speaker 1: will happen based on lab. Averages because not every team
- 36:54Speaker 1: can be. Good you're going to have some teams that
- 36:56Speaker 1: are massively. Disappointing to go back to last, year which,
- 37:00Speaker 1: one well last year was The. Orioles Brandon hye got
- 37:03Speaker 1: let go because The orioles crumbled in the beginning of the.
- 37:05Speaker 5: Season they have a new, Manager, yeah, okay who could
- 37:09Speaker 5: be the biggest The.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Mets The mets could BE i think The, ASTROS i
- 37:13Speaker 1: would say that would be the tap to go that
- 37:16Speaker 1: that could be a. Team because of the contract, length
- 37:19Speaker 1: right what it's his contract. Year he doesn't have a
- 37:22Speaker 1: contract after this year right. Now i'm pretty sure A
- 37:24Speaker 1: spot it. Doesn't AND i think you have to know
- 37:27Speaker 1: who the owner. Is this sometimes has to do with the.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Owner is it one of those super loyal owners or
- 37:32Speaker 1: is it an owner that's kind of pushing FOR i
- 37:36Speaker 1: don't want to say for, wins but like he'll keep
- 37:39Speaker 1: his foot on the pedal a little bit.
- 37:41Speaker 5: More Jim crane's pretty. Loyal, yes he is pretty. Loyal
- 37:46Speaker 5: he's Pretty he.
- 37:48Speaker 6: Brought, YEAH i mean he he was the one that
- 37:51Speaker 6: pushed it through to let the Whole Carlos korea thing
- 37:54Speaker 6: like very seldom does an owner say, yeah we're gonna
- 37:57Speaker 6: we're gonna bring on this extra. Money like he's Very
- 38:00Speaker 6: he is a, very very loyal. Owner if you are
- 38:03Speaker 6: in his, circle AND i have no reason to believe
- 38:05Speaker 6: That Joe spot is not in his, circle.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Then who do you guys think would be the top
- 38:11Speaker 1: candidate if you had to pick? One what about if
- 38:15Speaker 1: the kandas, WELL i MEAN kutr just signed an. EXTENSION
- 38:17Speaker 1: a lot of this has to do with extensions, Too
- 38:19Speaker 1: like The royal small market team they give an extension.
- 38:22Speaker 1: OUT i think they're going to be fine, anyway but it's,
- 38:24Speaker 1: like do you really think they're going to pull the. Trigger,
- 38:28Speaker 1: no it's got to be a team that's good that
- 38:32Speaker 1: just looks terrible in the first couple months or three.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Months it doesn't have to happen right. Away it could
- 38:37Speaker 1: happen In june Or. July teams Like, OKAY i don't.
- 38:44Speaker 6: KNOW i, mean you're making me pick against the. Team
- 38:47Speaker 6: like IF i go down the list of teams that
- 38:49Speaker 6: are not going to make the, playoffs, LIKE i get.
- 38:53Speaker 6: IT i didn't pick The braves to make the. Playoffs
- 38:56Speaker 6: Wet weiss is not getting fired LIKE i did.
- 38:59Speaker 2: About the Rest. Diamondbacks tory level is not getting.
- 39:03Speaker 6: Fired that is to, me that's a machine out there
- 39:06Speaker 6: THAT i think they're Always they're always a move or two,
- 39:10Speaker 6: away or a really good season away from making that
- 39:14Speaker 6: next step to be a playoff. Contender, AGAIN i think
- 39:17Speaker 6: The Red sox are going to be a playoff contending.
- 39:19Speaker 6: Team they're gonna hang around five. HUNDRED i just don't
- 39:21Speaker 6: think they're gonna quite make the.
- 39:22Speaker 2: Playoffs, Okay well that's why it's a fun. EXERCISE i
- 39:28Speaker 2: didn't realize how difficult it.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Was how many times did we have last? Year we
- 39:33Speaker 1: had quite a, Few, yeah which is part of how
- 39:37Speaker 1: we got to.
- 39:38Speaker 5: This during the.
- 39:39Speaker 4: Season Bud, Black, OKAY i mean The, orioles they weren't very.
- 39:44Speaker 4: Underachieved that was the. Too off the top of my,
- 39:47Speaker 4: HEAD i could think they get fired.
- 39:47Speaker 5: In the middle of the.
- 39:48Speaker 2: Season Derek Shelton, Pirates, okay some of those.
- 39:53Speaker 4: Were they had also been there for four or five
- 39:56Speaker 4: years and hadn't worked, right so they had.
- 39:59Speaker 5: ONE i, mean LUs.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Rocco baldelli was At.
- 40:05Speaker 5: Marble is he getting? Fired he just signed an.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Extension, YEAH i don't think.
- 40:08Speaker 1: So, ALSO i, MEAN i think a lot of this
- 40:11Speaker 1: has to do with. Expectations The cardinals should not have
- 40:14Speaker 1: a high expectations this.
- 40:15Speaker 2: YEAR i got rid of a ton of. Guys, yeah
- 40:21Speaker 2: that's part of.
- 40:21Speaker 7: It
