- 0:14Speaker 1: Legwall to the program more than Jeff.
- 0:16Speaker 2: How you doing that, Eggs, I'm great. How are you
- 0:19Speaker 2: guys doing well?
- 0:21Speaker 3: Doing well?
- 0:21Speaker 1: I mean, we're we're sitting here with a ten and
- 0:23Speaker 1: two football team, tough not to be doing well, and
- 0:25Speaker 1: it sounds like the coach is doing pretty well too.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I don't know about about you, but we were breaking
- 0:29Speaker 1: it down a little bit earlier. Jeff Sean was in
- 0:31Speaker 1: a pretty good mood yesterday. Kind of reflective too.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Uh.
- 0:35Speaker 2: That's sometimes that's uh, you know, that's kind of a Wednesday,
- 0:40Speaker 2: a Wednesday thing. You know, he's had a break from
- 0:42Speaker 2: us for a day or so, and maybe maybe that helps.
- 0:45Speaker 2: But I'm sure ten wins are pretty good salve for
- 0:49Speaker 2: anything going on with your team.
- 0:53Speaker 3: What do you make of the signing to that receiver
- 0:56Speaker 3: to the practice squad.
- 0:58Speaker 2: I think you said, you know, that's all. I think
- 1:00Speaker 2: that's a former second round pick. And you know, Vic,
- 1:04Speaker 2: every GM I know in the league, you know that
- 1:07Speaker 2: first or second round picks that appear not you know,
- 1:11Speaker 2: every draft board in the league is different, but you
- 1:15Speaker 2: know a lot of the players are in the same
- 1:18Speaker 2: talent neighborhood in terms of grades. So that's a pretty
- 1:22Speaker 2: talented player to be out on the street this time
- 1:26Speaker 2: of year, you know, when because practice squads are so
- 1:29Speaker 2: big now finally that the level of player out on
- 1:34Speaker 2: the street available isn't quite as high as it used
- 1:37Speaker 2: to be. So, I mean, this guy had sixty one
- 1:41Speaker 2: catches last season, So I think that's a pretty talented player.
- 1:47Speaker 2: You know, you're going to be willing to take a
- 1:49Speaker 2: look at and you put him on this practice squad
- 1:51Speaker 2: initially to basically do that, take a look at him,
- 1:55Speaker 2: see what he may be able to give you.
- 1:58Speaker 3: So they think they could fix him.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I mean, you know, again, he had sixty
- 2:04Speaker 2: one catches last year. Yeah, the Browns weren't very good,
- 2:06Speaker 2: but uh, you know, the list of Broncos receivers that
- 2:10Speaker 2: have had sixty one catches over the last five or
- 2:13Speaker 2: six years is fairly short. So uh, you know, I
- 2:18Speaker 2: just think it's a talent question, and he did. Sean
- 2:21Speaker 2: Payton did say yesterday that you signed guys like this
- 2:25Speaker 2: for two reasons, to if they can help you now
- 2:28Speaker 2: or if you think they can help you later. And
- 2:31Speaker 2: I think this may be one they take a look
- 2:33Speaker 2: at to see, you know, maybe is there something there
- 2:36Speaker 2: for for down the road too, or if they need
- 2:40Speaker 2: because you know, they had two receivers on the practice
- 2:43Speaker 2: squad already. Who who they like? So they thought enough
- 2:46Speaker 2: of them to relim in.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Why four teams in four years? Why is he available?
- 2:52Speaker 4: How did he get all the way down to the
- 2:53Speaker 4: Denver Broncos nobody else wanted him with? It's a story?
- 2:57Speaker 4: What's his malfunction? He just said it.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know that he has one. I think
- 3:02Speaker 2: it'd be unfair to just say, well.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Why didn't work out in Buffalo? Why they I mean,
- 3:07Speaker 4: I don't get it. If this guy can play, I
- 3:09Speaker 4: don't know. I'm not too excited about it.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Jeff, Well, he's on the practice squad, so I'm not
- 3:15Speaker 2: sure it's impacting your life and a great deal in.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Fact, it will not. That's an excellent point. It will
- 3:22Speaker 4: not impact my life. Has a huge drop. As soon
- 3:28Speaker 4: as he ended he has a huge drop of the
- 3:29Speaker 4: end zone in the AFC Championship game, then it will
- 3:31Speaker 4: affect my life. But until then, I don't give a
- 3:33Speaker 4: rats rip. Excellent point.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Let's check the injury report powered by Ramos Law, the
- 3:37Speaker 1: official injury law firm partner of the Denver Broncos, Jeff.
- 3:40Speaker 1: The first injury report came out yesterday. Any interesting news
- 3:43Speaker 1: anybody questionable or potentially might not play this weekend?
- 3:48Speaker 2: Well, I mean, I you know, I think they you know,
- 3:51Speaker 2: with Sir Tan back and you know Jonah Alis, one
- 3:56Speaker 2: of their outside linebackers, didn't play last week because of
- 3:59Speaker 2: an illness. You know, I think he'll be He looked
- 4:02Speaker 2: okay yesterday, ready to go. So I think they're a
- 4:05Speaker 2: pretty good shape. It's a pretty short injury report for
- 4:08Speaker 2: for this late in the season, but you know, as
- 4:11Speaker 2: far as that the you know DJ Jones, you know,
- 4:16Speaker 2: he left Sunday's game with the ankle right ankle injury.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I'd be surprised if he plays, but we'll see if
- 4:23Speaker 2: he's out there at all today.
- 4:25Speaker 4: MM.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Do you think that there's a possibility they get JK.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Dobbins back for the playoff run? Uh?
- 4:34Speaker 2: You know, I keep hearing. They'd have to go pretty
- 4:36Speaker 2: deep to get them back and maybe even make it
- 4:40Speaker 2: all the way to the Super Bowl to have a chance.
- 4:42Speaker 3: It's that kind of injury healed differently for different guys.
- 4:46Speaker 3: On I know, he had to have a surgical procedure done,
- 4:49Speaker 3: but I mean I've seen different rates of healing, is
- 4:53Speaker 3: what I'm I'm getting.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Yeah, No, that's true for for you know, a lot
- 4:57Speaker 2: of those types of injuries. I would say, you know,
- 5:00Speaker 2: as a running back, this is a little more of
- 5:02Speaker 2: a difficult injury, you know, to your foot than it
- 5:06Speaker 2: may be at other positions where you don't have to
- 5:10Speaker 2: move so much in space and open space. But yeah,
- 5:13Speaker 2: it's been conveyed to me so far. They'd have to
- 5:16Speaker 2: go really deep, maybe even the Super Bowl for him
- 5:19Speaker 2: to be back.
- 5:21Speaker 4: We talked about this with Chad Brown, But I'm one
- 5:23Speaker 4: of the assumption, Jeff, that the Broncos offense is what
- 5:27Speaker 4: it is. I mean, you can try to get their
- 5:29Speaker 4: running game going more or whatever, but you're gonna have
- 5:32Speaker 4: to dance with the girls that brung you at this point.
- 5:34Speaker 4: I mean that's what I think. Anyway, maybe not, maybe
- 5:37Speaker 4: they get better and you never stop trying That's what
- 5:39Speaker 4: Chad's point. You never stopped trying to get better. But
- 5:41Speaker 4: should we look at the Broncos offense and just see
- 5:43Speaker 4: this is what you got on any given week. You
- 5:45Speaker 4: can do this or do that. We really don't know,
- 5:47Speaker 4: and the defense is always going to keep you in
- 5:49Speaker 4: every single game from this point forward.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Well, wells, I guess my question would be, and you know,
- 5:56Speaker 2: I'm not sure they're ever going to take a look
- 5:58Speaker 2: at this, because you know, people always adjust to what
- 6:03Speaker 2: you do, so it may not be a long term solution,
- 6:07Speaker 2: but it's curious to me that they have routinely and
- 6:12Speaker 2: almost always succeeded in the two minute and four minute
- 6:17Speaker 2: situations when the menu of plays is much shorter for
- 6:21Speaker 2: the quarterback. So, and I'm not saying bo Nicks can't
- 6:26Speaker 2: handle the full playbook, because that's not true. He can.
- 6:30Speaker 2: He knows the full playbook. He's well versed in the
- 6:32Speaker 2: full playbook. But for whatever reason, the pacing of how
- 6:37Speaker 2: Sean Payton calls the game, how they get the play
- 6:41Speaker 2: into the quarterback, all of that functioning, they're much better
- 6:46Speaker 2: at it when some of that is off the table
- 6:48Speaker 2: and when any team and I don't care if it's
- 6:50Speaker 2: Tom Brady or Peyton Manning or you know a rookie quarterback.
- 6:56Speaker 2: When you go to the two minute and the four
- 6:58Speaker 2: minute situations, it's a different menu of plays. It's much
- 7:02Speaker 2: more condensed, so you can move quickly, and the and
- 7:06Speaker 2: the checks and the and the audibles and and the
- 7:10Speaker 2: bailouts are much clean, more cleanly defined because they have
- 7:15Speaker 2: to be. And it's it's amazing to me that this
- 7:19Speaker 2: team suddenly has a very good offense in those situations.
- 7:24Speaker 2: So I would do that more. Now that said, defenses
- 7:29Speaker 2: are gonna react because they always do. And it may
- 7:32Speaker 2: not have the success rate for entire games because you
- 7:37Speaker 2: are showing defenses fewer things. But I'd be curious to
- 7:43Speaker 2: know if you did that for bigger segments in games,
- 7:47Speaker 2: how it would look.
- 7:48Speaker 4: I would that's it. I would love to see a
- 7:50Speaker 4: hurry up sometime, right?
- 7:52Speaker 2: Why not you not even rock and hurry up. I'm
- 7:54Speaker 2: just talking to construction, like go any pace you want,
- 7:59Speaker 2: but you menu use the menu you use in the
- 8:02Speaker 2: two minute and the four minute that that'd be what
- 8:05Speaker 2: I'd want to see. And I'm not even talking about
- 8:08Speaker 2: going fast or you can go any pace you want,
- 8:11Speaker 2: But I say try that out, because it seems the
- 8:15Speaker 2: players are far more comfortable in that situation.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Why do you think that is, Jeff? Do you think
- 8:21Speaker 1: that is because it's more quick game involved. There's not
- 8:25Speaker 1: as much for BO to read there. You can go
- 8:28Speaker 1: at whatever pace and whatever gear, whatever tempo you want
- 8:30Speaker 1: to go to. But things are maybe just a little
- 8:33Speaker 1: bit more scaled down.
- 8:35Speaker 2: I don't think scale. I think scaled down is is
- 8:38Speaker 2: not what I'd say. I think it's more clearly defined.
- 8:43Speaker 2: You know, you have more ab, A or B choices
- 8:47Speaker 2: if you're a receiver, more A or B choices if
- 8:50Speaker 2: you're running back, And I think that's I think things
- 8:54Speaker 2: are just more clearly framed out because they have to be,
- 8:58Speaker 2: because everyone's got to be super efficient and fast, and
- 9:02Speaker 2: I just think they're you know, his playbook is enormous.
- 9:06Speaker 2: It always has been. He's piled up yards and points.
- 9:10Speaker 2: You know, he's got a long resume of teams that
- 9:13Speaker 2: scored tons of points. So I'm not saying it doesn't work.
- 9:17Speaker 2: I'm saying this group, for whatever reason, and even even
- 9:22Speaker 2: Sean I think, has called better games in those situations.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Uh And but but that's I'd be curious if they
- 9:31Speaker 2: if they used sort of the moving along menus and
- 9:37Speaker 2: just rant it at any pace they wanted to, just
- 9:39Speaker 2: to see what it would look like.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Jeffrey Bill, uh, Bill Belichick, and Roubbert Kraft have been
- 9:45Speaker 3: named finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame that class,
- 9:48Speaker 3: which means another year without Mike Shanahan and Dan Reeves.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Safe to assume that they're not gonna sneak in any
- 9:56Speaker 3: means here or no.
- 9:58Speaker 2: No, that that that Belichick the pick. Okay, He's the
- 10:01Speaker 2: guy from the coaches subcommittee, So Mike, Mike cannot And
- 10:06Speaker 2: I had tried to warn people, you know, this was
- 10:10Speaker 2: Bill's first year on the ballot, and it would be
- 10:13Speaker 2: tough for anyone, to anyone to move past him as
- 10:17Speaker 2: the one, as the one finalist from the coaching.
- 10:21Speaker 4: Why can we just do both? Why can we do both?
- 10:23Speaker 4: Why can we do all three? What not?
- 10:25Speaker 2: Why that's not how the vote, That's not how the
- 10:27Speaker 2: Hall is constructive?
- 10:29Speaker 4: Okay, Well, tell the Hall is good, get bent. These
- 10:32Speaker 4: guys deserve to be in. I'm tired of waiting. It's ridiculous.
- 10:34Speaker 4: I know, I know that's your thing, Jeff, but it
- 10:36Speaker 4: just it bothers me an awful autumn.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Sorry, Jeff, I wanted to ask you about the Broncos
- 10:40Speaker 1: run game because you talked about their offense and how
- 10:42Speaker 1: efficient they can be in those specific situations four minute offense,
- 10:46Speaker 1: two minute drill, but they are thirty first in the
- 10:49Speaker 1: league in three and outs, second worst in the league.
- 10:52Speaker 1: There's a ton of inconsistency there without JK. Dobbins at
- 10:56Speaker 1: least in the fold. In the immediate they turned to RJ.
- 10:59Speaker 4: Harvey.
- 10:59Speaker 1: How do you think the Broncos feel about how he's
- 11:02Speaker 1: progressed throughout the course of his rookie season. Now as
- 11:05Speaker 1: we barrel towards the postseason with a lot on his shoulders.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Well, I mean he's he's definitely gonna have to have
- 11:13Speaker 2: a very big stretch run here. If they're an awful lot,
- 11:18Speaker 2: they're relying an awful lot on him, I would say
- 11:21Speaker 2: in most personnel guys I talked to in the league
- 11:24Speaker 2: would say is they were a very good power team
- 11:30Speaker 2: with their line in the run game. But some of
- 11:33Speaker 2: that is muted now. I mean, think about R. J.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Harvey is the big back. Suddenly he's two hundred and
- 11:39Speaker 2: five pounds and I don't think anyone book well, it's
- 11:45Speaker 2: it's big in the real world, but two hundred and
- 11:49Speaker 2: eighty pounds is big in the real world, but you
- 11:51Speaker 2: don't see any offensive tackles who are two hundred and
- 11:54Speaker 2: eighty pounds. So in the world of the NFL, I
- 11:59Speaker 2: think they have to create more space in their run
- 12:02Speaker 2: game to make it work, and that'll be a challenge
- 12:06Speaker 2: if teams keep loading up the line of scrimmage on them.
- 12:09Speaker 2: So I think a little more play action would be
- 12:12Speaker 2: helpful too, but that's that's harder to do out of
- 12:15Speaker 2: the shotgun and get people to buy it. So I
- 12:19Speaker 2: think you may see a smidge more RPO type looks
- 12:23Speaker 2: here with bo coming down the stretch, but I can't
- 12:27Speaker 2: say that for certain, but it would shock me if
- 12:30Speaker 2: you don't see a little more of that, because they've
- 12:32Speaker 2: got to get some of those safeties and linebackers to
- 12:36Speaker 2: at least glance in a little bit.
- 12:39Speaker 3: So there's no big hanging out on the street that
- 12:42Speaker 3: just waiting for a job.
- 12:43Speaker 2: You know, I think with practice squads VIC, now you
- 12:46Speaker 2: know twelve guys, that's an awful lot of players that
- 12:50Speaker 2: used to be on the workout circuit this time of
- 12:53Speaker 2: year that are that are with somebody else. That's why
- 12:56Speaker 2: you're seeing so many teams sign guys off practice the
- 13:00Speaker 2: squads that that didn't used to happen very often. Uh,
- 13:04Speaker 2: you know, it was generally considered it it had to
- 13:07Speaker 2: be a really pressing situation for you to to grab
- 13:11Speaker 2: somebody off a practice squad. But now you you see
- 13:14Speaker 2: two and three guys every day almost get getting signed
- 13:17Speaker 2: off a practice squad from someone.
- 13:19Speaker 4: It doesn't matter. They're going to crush the Raiders. I'll
- 13:21Speaker 4: worry about it down the line. Hey, Jeff hot.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Street meet Yeah.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Yeahs made you made the Yeah?
- 13:34Speaker 1: Are you a fan of I mean.
- 13:36Speaker 4: You know what I mean. Listen, I'm I'm I'm on
- 13:38Speaker 4: Long Island right now. Okay, but I'm going to the
- 13:40Speaker 4: City Island. Hey, I.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Covered Stanley Cup Finals at the Nassau Coliseum long ago.
- 13:49Speaker 4: That place was that place, I'm you know, don't you
- 13:52Speaker 4: miss the It was a dump and the visiting locker
- 13:55Speaker 4: room had this The hallway had this smell because you're underground,
- 13:59Speaker 4: it's look like mold. Uh but uh but you but
- 14:03Speaker 4: you missed that, don't you now? These all these antiseptic
- 14:05Speaker 4: places was.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Like it was like a gondola.
- 14:09Speaker 4: It was a wooden it wouldn't and it's wooden't and
- 14:11Speaker 4: like the wood, it's all wood. Anyway, I miss it.
- 14:15Speaker 4: But so anyway, tomorrow in New Yorleans of the street
- 14:18Speaker 4: meet exactly walking. I'm gonna walk the streets and give
- 14:22Speaker 4: me some street met Jeff. You know that's what I'm saying.
- 14:26Speaker 4: He didn't know what you're talking about.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Yeah, that's not uh, you know, that's not really on
- 14:31Speaker 2: my tour when I go to New York is to
- 14:34Speaker 2: get to get.
- 14:34Speaker 4: That for a guy who orders every meal off a
- 14:38Speaker 4: board on a wall. You know you sound kind of
- 14:42Speaker 4: snoppy regarding the street meet.
- 14:44Speaker 2: I mean, I'll hit up I'll hit up a car anytime,
- 14:48Speaker 2: but you know that's just not on my New York list.
- 14:51Speaker 2: I'm sorry, all.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Right, Jeff. We appreciate your time this morning. Thanks so much, man.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Jeff Legwall brought to you by the International Brotherhood of
- 14:59Speaker 1: Electrical Workers IBW Local sixty eight. Start with a job
- 15:03Speaker 1: end with a career on the other side. I'm gonna
- 15:06Speaker 1: ask Vic Lombardi a really bold question. Quite frankly, I
- 15:10Speaker 1: don't know what his answer is gonna be, but we'll
- 15:12Speaker 1: do it next
