- 0:00It's bonus time. Here we go.
- 0:02This month in February of 2025, we are doing a podcast about
- 0:06podcast. We want to introduce you to
- 0:08other track and field themed podcasts that are out there that
- 0:11might be great for your listening pleasure.
- 0:14So all month we're introducing a new podcast each and every day,
- 0:17showing you who they are, what they are, how they are, why they
- 0:20got started and even their favorite episodes and most
- 0:23popular. And hopefully this adds to your
- 0:26podcast listening library. So here we go.
- 0:28Let's get started with today's podcast about podcast.
- 0:32OK, How about we start with today.
- 0:35Why don't you give us like a 30,000 foot level introduction
- 0:37of who you are kind of your relationship to our sport?
- 0:40And then why don't we talk? Give us the name of the podcast
- 0:42that we're talking about today. OK, well, I can tell you who I
- 0:45am. I am, without a shadow of a
- 0:47doubt, the number one hated fan in track and field.
- 0:49OK, I'm hated because of a personality when it comes to
- 0:53track and field, all right. And on the other side of it, I
- 0:56may be a number one loved person because if I say some things,
- 0:59people will love me, but then if I say other things, they will
- 1:01hate me. So I would say that that's who I
- 1:04am. But I feel as though I have the
- 1:07ability to do so because as the athlete, as the athlete, I spent
- 1:12two decades in track and field consecutively.
- 1:16So I feel like I have enough to talk about and I should be able
- 1:19to talk about what I don't want to talk about.
- 1:21And even when I do it, some people don't agree.
- 1:23But guess what? Raised takes became raised takes
- 1:26because the world has not been thought.
- 1:29The world is not built on people agreeing.
- 1:33That is very true. And as much as you're hated on
- 1:35and loved on, you know, it's all love from us.
- 1:39And for me specifically, you're my my Wiregrass brother.
- 1:42I would encourage anybody, you know, that was kind of a 32nd
- 1:45version of who Ray is. He has his own episode here on
- 1:48the Guilt Connections podcast. So you want to hear the whole
- 1:50story and trust me, you want to know the whole story.
- 1:53It's fascinating what Ray has done in our sport and in his
- 1:56life. And I think it's extremely
- 1:58important. So so today we're going to talk
- 2:00about Ray's take TV. So you know, my one of my first
- 2:03kind of questions is typically like the significance of the
- 2:05name, But maybe we actually, I do kind of want to ask obviously
- 2:09Ray's take, Ray, you're Ray, this is your take on on on track
- 2:13and field. And you've always kind of had TV
- 2:15in there. So you've always kind of had an
- 2:16idea that this was going to be a video.
- 2:18We're going to be talking a lot of video focused here.
- 2:20But why Ray's take meaning you could have there's a lot of
- 2:24other names, you know, that you could have come up with that
- 2:26still kind of give you the edginess that you are, the
- 2:28reality, the authenticity that you are.
- 2:30Why name it after you? Ray's take.
- 2:32Hey, so honestly, my favorite show that I actually have been
- 2:37watching since 2000 and 13 is First Take.
- 2:42Like literally like every single episode, every single day.
- 2:46Like when I was getting home for track practice, that would be my
- 2:48night time. I'd watch First Take.
- 2:49You know, I watched it on reruns so and the whole dynamic of
- 2:53First Take was just they were debating.
- 2:55It was like a barbershop. Like it wasn't just sports talk.
- 2:58It was like, no, I believe Joan's bitch.
- 3:00No, he ain't. You know, I believe LeBron is
- 3:02and that kind of took me back to really like Alabama, my
- 3:06childhood, because that's all we did was argue back and forth
- 3:09like man now. So when I what happened with
- 3:13Rays tape was I was on Facebook a lot debating and and arguing
- 3:18with people and I just literally just got tired of typing and I
- 3:21was like, I'm going to do, I'm going to do a video.
- 3:23So I did a video explaining my debate and then that video took
- 3:27off and I was like I didn't mean to afford to turn into raise
- 3:30tape. Somebody else said something and
- 3:32I didn't want to type so I said you know what, I'm doing another
- 3:34video. And then because I was tired of
- 3:36typing, I killed 2 of the videos.
- 3:38And a friend of mine, she was like, you know, you should
- 3:41probably do that as a podcast. And I'm like, I don't know what
- 3:45a podcast is that's a podcast. And then that's when, because
- 3:47she was a huge fan of Joe's Butt and everything, she was like,
- 3:49no, watch Joe's butt and podcast.
- 3:51So she was like, you should try this for track and field because
- 3:54that's all you're doing is arguing with people and, and,
- 3:57and giving like your, your spin on it.
- 4:00So then I tried it and it became Ray's take.
- 4:03I created Ray's take TV though, because it's funny that we was
- 4:08talking about other podcasters. So in the beginning of it, my
- 4:11idea was to have a coalition, OK, which was, you know, back
- 4:15then it was just it was just me. And then Anson had his show, you
- 4:19know, and then T was just coming to the game.
- 4:21Colin was was just posting. So, you know, I had this frame
- 4:25of mind up like, well, you know what if we created some type of
- 4:27a coalition, you know what I'm saying?
- 4:30We could all put the same content under 1 channel.
- 4:33So that was the premise of having raised taking TV because
- 4:37the plan of it was to have all of us on one station to where
- 4:41we're all on one channel. There come a point in time to
- 4:44where now meet promoters and other people like that.
- 4:47Got to take those more serious because we literally are the
- 4:51content creators and we're all under one umbrella.
- 4:54I'm still hoping that that happens one day, but that's why
- 4:56I became raised a TV. I I love the inspiration from
- 4:59first take that makes a lot of sense, kind of helps us give us
- 5:01a, a background of it. So if we go and we're, we're on
- 5:05YouTube primarily, we'll talk about more about that later.
- 5:08But if we were to go to the YouTube channel, what talk to us
- 5:11about what's your style? And what I mean by that is solo.
- 5:15So is this you just give and takes?
- 5:16Do you have guests? Are you interview style?
- 5:18Kind of give us like what, what kind of what would be, what
- 5:21would we be watching if, if we partake in the show?
- 5:24So Ray's take has evolved just like first take.
- 5:26You know, first take started out, it was just skip and then
- 5:29it was just skipping, you know, skipping Stephen A and now it's
- 5:32like 710 different people. That's where Ray's take is now.
- 5:35That's what you're going to get when you go to race take now,
- 5:38you're going to see a panel every show of at least at least
- 5:43four to six people. And the reason why we have these
- 5:47four to six people because spread out you have on that
- 5:50show, you have Angelo Taylor, News Olympian, you have coach
- 5:55Lester Blaine, universe genius, highly funny guy.
- 5:59You got him on the show. You got coach of mud.
- 6:01Everybody loves coach of mud and coach of mud is a freaking
- 6:04historian. And then you got James Carter,
- 6:07who hates Felix Sanchez on the show.
- 6:10And then you got myself. And then you add in a sprinkle
- 6:13of Ty Atkins, who was, you know, Auburn's number one national
- 6:16champion runner when you turn on to that.
- 6:18Oh, and also coach Eugene Fraser.
- 6:20So when you turn on that show, you can bet your bottom dollar
- 6:24you're going to laugh. If nothing else, you're going to
- 6:28laugh and you're going to learn track and field and you're going
- 6:30to hear a bunch of people either agree with each other or
- 6:33disagree with each other. So very much a a panel if you
- 6:37will. Whole panel, every, every show
- 6:39has a panel and we have special guests, you know, guest coaches,
- 6:43guest people on the show. So it's always going to be a a
- 6:45pool panel. And with that panel and you
- 6:48know, thinking about this as a TV show, is your focus on
- 6:52current events like what's going on?
- 6:53Are you trying to delve into each one of your panels history
- 6:57because those guys have amazing history, or are you trying to
- 7:00really focus on the current events that are going on with
- 7:02track or an athlete, a meet, et cetera?
- 7:05Now we try to make sure we focus on nothing but current events.
- 7:08That's why my show is called the weekend Wrap up because our job
- 7:12is to give you everything that happened from last Sunday to
- 7:15this Sunday in track and field. So no matter what happened, if
- 7:18it was racist that went on, whether it was some a signing
- 7:21that went on, whether it was, you know, athletes doing some
- 7:24other stuff, whatever. We try and make sure that we are
- 7:27that ESPN for track and field to where if something goes on in
- 7:31track and field, you know, Sunday, I know where to be.
- 7:34I I know to be at the weekend wrap up because Ray in the panel
- 7:38is going to talk about it, break it down.
- 7:40And also because we allow questions and comments, people
- 7:44are going to be able to to ask us questions.
- 7:45They they're going to be able to, you know, converse in the
- 7:48whole chat log together. So it just it it we, we try and
- 7:51make sure we keep it the most current events after that week
- 7:54is over with, we kind of let it go.
- 7:57I I I do love your chat in the question that that to me is a
- 8:00unique and great aspect of just instead of just listening like
- 8:03you can actually partake in the show as well.
- 8:06Ray, when did you start this? And I'm going to say why did you
- 8:10why did you start this? You already kind of gave that to
- 8:13us. But what, what, but for you,
- 8:15what I mean by when, when I say why did you start this?
- 8:18There are other avenues you could have started or not at
- 8:20all. By the way, you could have
- 8:21stopped typing that people or you could have kept, you could
- 8:24have done a blog, you could have done an audio version.
- 8:26So when did you start and why did you go?
- 8:29Why did you do this? Why did you go this Ave. with
- 8:31video? Well, because first of all, I'm
- 8:35long winded, OK, and second of all, I figured my main goal was
- 8:40to connect the outside world to track and field, meaning the
- 8:46people who only watch the Olympics, you know, every four
- 8:50years. OK, I will be the first person
- 8:52going record and always saying like my first foot was football,
- 8:55like I didn't run summer track. I didn't know about any of that
- 8:57stuff. I just happened to win state in
- 8:59the country of dash and went on and kept running.
- 9:01So I'm, I overstand the people who don't watch track and field
- 9:06like I, I that's most of the people I know.
- 9:09So my whole aspect with the video was to give an apparel
- 9:13look, you know, like, like when you see me, it's like, no, I'm,
- 9:16I'm dressed like a normal person, like, you know, I'm not
- 9:18in track and field gear so that I can pretty much bring in the
- 9:22audience of people who will start to watch track more now
- 9:26than just there for years. And I will say that people have
- 9:29told me like, no, we I actually started watching track and field
- 9:32because of race tape, you know, because you keep it authentic,
- 9:35you know, and it's not just a sports show.
- 9:37So that was the whole angle of the reason why I kept going and
- 9:41why I grew it, because I understood that the fan base was
- 9:45starting to grow worldwide, not just in track and field.
- 9:49And when did you start? How long have you been?
- 9:5120 So so Tokyo year, Tokyo year, Tokyo year 2021. 2021, Awesome.
- 9:56That's when 2021 was the year I started in March.
- 9:59And then I took it serious. I took it serious when I got a
- 10:02phone call. Actually, I got a phone call
- 10:04from a buddy, a buddy of mine. A lot of people know it ain't
- 10:07Manteo, OK, I got a phone call from Manteo and he was like,
- 10:11bro, you really should do this race take stuff.
- 10:12And he was like, hey, I'm going to be in USA.
- 10:15If you want some footage, I'll get to put it and send it to
- 10:17you. And I was like, not a bad idea.
- 10:19And after that it took off. I.
- 10:22Love that Now in business, Ray, and you, you know this from your
- 10:26business backgrounds. There's what we call an ideal
- 10:28customer profile. So like for here at Gill, we
- 10:32certainly have moms and dads who have bought discuses and stuff
- 10:35for Christmas for their kids. We sell the contractors,
- 10:38athletic directors, but the person, the ideal, the customer
- 10:41profile, the people that we are thinking about when we create
- 10:44new products, market it, trade shows, things like that is the
- 10:47high school and college track coach.
- 10:50That is who we are focused on. Everybody else's is periphery.
- 10:52You may enjoy some things from from Gil Athletics, but we are
- 10:54focused on that coach. The same can be said about our
- 10:57shows that there is an ideal listener profile.
- 11:00You may have a lot of different people that may partake in the
- 11:03rate and race take TV fans, athletes, coaches who whoever a
- 11:09bunch of other, you know, just regular sports junkies, but
- 11:13you're really talking to a very certain type of person.
- 11:16Who would that be for race take TV?
- 11:18Who's the ideal listener profile?
- 11:20The person that's going to get the most out of watching the
- 11:23show. That would definitely be the
- 11:25youth, no 100%. And when I say youth, I would
- 11:30say any, any, any track and field athlete that's from the
- 11:35college level on down. And the reason why I say this,
- 11:37because a bunch of the stuff that we're, we talk about, we're
- 11:41giving the news on the track and field side, but they were also
- 11:44giving the reality side from our actual personal stories.
- 11:48So because you have so many, you know me, Angelo and everybody on
- 11:51there out and and I've said this before, a lot of times when
- 11:55we're talking on rage take, we're not talking to the
- 11:57athletes today because there's not much they can do to change
- 12:00it because we're still the same generation.
- 12:02We're talking to the athletes that are watching Ray State
- 12:05that's in high school. We're talking to the ones who
- 12:07watched in college because if we can educate them on how the
- 12:11professional world is now, we can do one of two things.
- 12:15We can stop them early if they like.
- 12:17You know what, that might not be for me.
- 12:20Or if it's for them, they can come in with the mindset of
- 12:23understanding this is what I want to do.
- 12:25This is how it's going to be. So you won't have athletes that
- 12:28get in track and field. I mean, in my career, I saw
- 12:30athletes come in and go back out like they come in 2-3 years and
- 12:33like, Nah, this ain't really for me.
- 12:35And that's because you got to get in to experience it first
- 12:38and then see this for you or if it's not.
- 12:40So when we're talking, we're pretty much talking the college
- 12:44athletes all the way down. So you will know, hey, this is
- 12:47what goes on in this sport. Do you want to be a part of it?
- 12:51So love that. Next question here.
- 12:53Ray is kind of A2 parter. What is has been your favorite
- 12:57episode? So it could have been a guest
- 13:00that you had or somebody said something and then it's probably
- 13:03not the same episode, but what is maybe been your most popular?
- 13:06What's went viral for you? So what's been your favorite
- 13:09episode and maybe what's been the most popular episode?
- 13:13Oh, that's a good one. I'm going to give you the most
- 13:16popular episode. The most popular episode, It's
- 13:21so many of them. It's probably the ones that I've
- 13:23been on. I was about.
- 13:25To say the one that you was on, that's my favorite.
- 13:27That's my favorite now that's my favorite.
- 13:29I would say the most popular, though one would have to be my
- 13:322021 Tokyo interview with Trayvon Romeo.
- 13:36And that was the one that actually Sid Ray's take on a
- 13:40mission because, you know, Trayvon was going through not
- 13:43the rounds good. And everybody's trying to figure
- 13:45out what was going on. How's he feeling?
- 13:47And you know, and, and it was just so many questions.
- 13:49ESPN had questions, Everybody had questions.
- 13:52And then Trey Bone was like, you know what, I'm going to talk to
- 13:55Ray. And that show there was the most
- 13:58popular show to me today because it it was, it was almost 2 1/2
- 14:02hours of him live from Tokyo just getting it all out, like
- 14:06denting out to the world. And the reason why I said that
- 14:08was the most popular because ESPN actually took parts from
- 14:13the interview and they put it up on on ESPN and they also put up
- 14:17on NBC Olympics. So yeah, that would definitely
- 14:20be the most popular. My most favorite one would be,
- 14:22of course, you, Sir, You already know that.
- 14:24Like, that was a given. Like I don't know why you would
- 14:26ask that question. There's no brownie points here,
- 14:29right? No, So for real, is there been a
- 14:32favorite one, one that you either you got to bring on
- 14:36someone that's been you know, you've had a lot of fandom
- 14:38people at that or or maybe someone said something you're
- 14:40like, oh, wow, I did not realize, you know, a little bit
- 14:42like how like Trayvon, like wow, we got the inside skinny here
- 14:45before anybody any that kind of bubbled on.
- 14:48Actually, and people going to say I'm always on his bandwagon,
- 14:54whatever, but believe it or not, the first show I did with Fred
- 14:56Curley, because when I did that show with Fred Curley, he that
- 15:01he had just came off for beating Justin at a strapa and he had
- 15:04just came off of, you know, I'm going to drop him 400 to the 100
- 15:09show. And that was when, you know, we
- 15:11had as when I got a chance to 1st initially meet Fred, you
- 15:15know, and talk to him. And I never forget it.
- 15:17I never forget the little white T-shirt he had on and
- 15:19everything. And he was like, he had a
- 15:20mindset like the fastest man in the world is the one who makes
- 15:24the most money. And I was like, what will make
- 15:26you think that you can go beat everybody?
- 15:28100 He was like, because I want to be the fastest man in the
- 15:30world. And that's just what's going to
- 15:32happen. So and watching it unfold like
- 15:38no, I'm telling y'all like I had a show and this kid literally
- 15:41said this is what's about to happen.
- 15:42He literally said made a libertine.
- 15:44They literally said win the world championship.
- 15:46No, everything he did, he said on that show.
- 15:48So that would have to be my my favorite show.
- 15:51Is that because it was like, no, we have proof.
- 15:54We got to rewind it. He said he's going to beat y'all
- 15:56and so. I love that.
- 15:58So Fred Curly and then right behind Mike Cunningham.
- 16:01I I'm I'm OK with that hierarchy.
- 16:04I would say Coach Lester would even take that for a relay, you
- 16:07know? We learned Coach Lester doesn't
- 16:11like to win relays today. Cool, cool, cool.
- 16:13Now, Ray, our listeners, there's probably a handful of listeners
- 16:17that have been with you from episode number one from the get
- 16:19go, but most of our listeners, they come and go right there,
- 16:23whether they they see a topic they like or even, you know,
- 16:25time of the year for them, they come and go.
- 16:26But you have been behind the mic on every single one of them over
- 16:30these past 3-4 almost five years now as we get along here with
- 16:33race take TV. What have you learned hosting a
- 16:37show, You know, I'm calling it a podcast, but we know it's a
- 16:39video. What have you learned?
- 16:41So I'm not talking about you learned, you know, such and such
- 16:44athlete hurt their Achilles. You know, there's hardware,
- 16:48software, marketing, you know, the business side of which you
- 16:51know, I know you very well on that side.
- 16:52Ray, what have you learned being the host of Race Take TV?
- 16:57I've learned that you can waste a whole lot of money trying to
- 16:59create a great show. That's that's the first thing I
- 17:03learned. I learned you could waste a
- 17:04whole lot of money when you could just stay in your kitchen.
- 17:07OK, that's first thing I. Learned that needs to be right
- 17:10for everybody who wants to create a podcast.
- 17:12That is the very, very truth and you don't need to spend that
- 17:15money Yes, great lesson. Great.
- 17:17Lesson because when I first started ready to say, you know,
- 17:20that's what I had. I had all the fancy lights and
- 17:22the fans and people don't care about that.
- 17:24They just want to watch you. They just want to hear you and
- 17:27that and I said the number two thing is fan engagement.
- 17:32Fan engagement. I learned that in order for you
- 17:35to stay relevant and for people to want to watch you, they got
- 17:41to feel like they can talk to you.
- 17:43That's the engagement part. And that's why I tell people I
- 17:45think that's the true trick behind race take is because
- 17:48people actually get to engage with us.
- 17:51And to us, it's something small. But for somebody watching the
- 17:56show, like I can engage with Angelo Taylor, I can engage with
- 18:00James, I can engage with Ray Overton, they're going to and
- 18:02they're going to talk back to me.
- 18:03Like I think that's the thing that I learned more than
- 18:06anything to give people literally a voice argue with
- 18:12them. Like do that, because I know
- 18:14there's a lot of people that will come for Ray's taking on
- 18:17Twitter and everything. But I in the back of my mind, I
- 18:20know it's like this is going to make their day though, you know,
- 18:23I'm saying it's like I got to argue with Ray track and field.
- 18:26So that's the thing I learned to to to really not take it too
- 18:30serious because I used to get mad and block people.
- 18:32It's like, no, and it's ain't talking a lot of these people
- 18:35who are trolling you. It's really because they won't
- 18:37Ray interaction. So, you know, that's the other
- 18:40thing I learned. That's a really good point.
- 18:41All right, last two questions here, Ray.
- 18:43So where can we watch the show? So we know YouTube for sure,
- 18:46right? If I go to YouTube and I search
- 18:47Ray's take all one word, it's going to pop up there.
- 18:50Tell me, I know very little bit about you have a Patreon, you
- 18:54have Ray's University, is that other places for content?
- 18:58Tell me a little bit more about that.
- 18:59So here's what happened, OK, race that grew to a financial
- 19:03level that we decided we would have to go a different approach.
- 19:09And let me explain that people were trying to sue me.
- 19:16So when that started happening, we had to start figuring out
- 19:20other ways, OK, I can't afford to pay these lawsuits.
- 19:24So but so again, I was new when it came to podcasting.
- 19:28So when I was using material, I was going to race breakdowns and
- 19:31stuff like that. And I was like, I found on
- 19:33YouTube, I had to learn the hard way.
- 19:35You can't do that type of stuff. So then what actually happened
- 19:39was we started growing so big to what We cut the show down to
- 19:44just Sundays, OK, so that we didn't have to we didn't have to
- 19:47work as much. Now how do we the Patreon came
- 19:51in because we started having people that was taking our
- 19:55content and then just like small clips and creating like TMZ
- 20:01sound bites. So it was like, you know, they
- 20:03did the codes, they did demeanors like no, no, you just
- 20:05took that one piece off of my YouTube.
- 20:08Now you've got the whole world thinking that's what we you
- 20:10know, that's not that's not that's not how it happened.
- 20:12And so not only that, I was like, you know what, I had a
- 20:18talk with coach tomorrow and I had to talk with everybody
- 20:20because I was about to quit, like I was really about to be
- 20:23done with ready to take after the third season.
- 20:25And it was like, no, listen, how about we do this?
- 20:28How about we go live on YouTube once a week and then as soon as
- 20:33we're done, take it off of YouTube and put it on Patreon
- 20:37and then leave it on Patreon. And I didn't know anything about
- 20:40Patreon then. So how they explained to me was,
- 20:42and again, they showed me Joe's Budden podcast.
- 20:45You see how Joe Budden has all of these podcasts that goes back
- 20:482-3 years. People can come on here now and
- 20:51they can see all of your podcasts, but not only that,
- 20:54they can pay for a membership. I wasn't for the membership.
- 20:57I just wanted my stuff exclusive.
- 20:59So then once we did, the membership was only $3.
- 21:03It became smarter to do things over there because YouTube would
- 21:08ban us. They would, you know, give us
- 21:10strides. And now we can't go live.
- 21:11We can't do a show because we said this.
- 21:13So we had that clip. So we just started saying we'll
- 21:16go live on YouTube soon as that video is done, those videos will
- 21:21go to Patreon. Everything else that's on rays
- 21:24take YouTube channel is all the content from the beginning.
- 21:28So that's why we left everything.
- 21:29So if you go to rays take YouTube, you're going to see all
- 21:32the content from day one that built up to why we're here.
- 21:37And I left it that way for a reason.
- 21:38Because if if you watch all the seasons of Rays takes and binge
- 21:43watch them, you will see the growth of Rays taking everything
- 21:46that we went through to have to end up, well, I know why they on
- 21:49Patreon, you know, he tried to get they tried to get sued him
- 21:51twice. So it's like, but yeah, if you
- 21:54were looking for us, we're every Sunday on YouTube and he's put
- 21:59in Ray Tech TV after that. It's actually Ray Tech
- 22:03University on Patreon. And the reason why it's Ray Tech
- 22:05University on Patreon, because not only do we put the weekend
- 22:09wrap up over there, that's why I dropped all my tad bits and
- 22:12track secrets. So my, my, my workout secrets,
- 22:16my, my, my gym hints, all of those go over there as well.
- 22:19So instead of calling this Ray State TV, we decided to call it
- 22:22Ray State University because it would be more than just a show
- 22:25over there. Last question, Ray, you know, we
- 22:28know for podcasting to the audio version, the average podcast
- 22:32listener listeners to between 7:00 and 10:00 different shows,
- 22:35you know, they'll come and go, but they, they listen to more
- 22:37than one show. I, I know you're a video
- 22:40podcaster or I don't know if that's the right term, but
- 22:42whatever. I was going to call you a
- 22:43podcaster, assuming that you listen to podcast.
- 22:46And, and for your definition, I'm going to say not only, you
- 22:48know, traditional audio podcast, but other YouTube shows.
- 22:52Stay away from the, the main stuff like ESPN, stuff like
- 22:55that. What is your favorite type of
- 22:57podcast, YouTube show that you like to watch?
- 22:59That's not your own of course, and maybe not track related
- 23:03either. Now here's what's going to
- 23:07hello, everybody. I'm kind of like Steve Jobs how
- 23:10Steve Jobs kid didn't have apples.
- 23:13Mark Zuckerberg actually don't have a Facebook profile.
- 23:16I don't watch any show like I and and it's weird because when
- 23:22I tell people that they're like what I'm like, no, I don't I
- 23:24really don't watch. The only thing I watch is first
- 23:26date like that's. Still.
- 23:29Today still till this day, I don't it's weird what I mean
- 23:34weird because even in the Olympics, I sat down and did a
- 23:36show for eight hours and we had over 25,000 people live watching
- 23:41us. But I would never do that.
- 23:43That's why I have severe ADDI don't have the patience to sit
- 23:49still and just listen or watch. But that same ADD allows me to
- 23:55talk a lot. So it's it's like, it's like the
- 23:59law polarity. The reason why I do so many
- 24:02hours and I do race takes so good is because I don't really
- 24:05watch it and don't know how to do it wrong per SE.
- 24:09So I love that. I love, I love that the initial
- 24:13inspiration behind it was first Take, and I love that that's
- 24:17still a big show for you. That's really cool.
- 24:20Oh yeah, that's how I get, that's how I actually get get M4
- 24:23show like I will watch rerecording the first take that
- 24:25same day. Yeah, I love because, you know,
- 24:27your show has definitely evolved and I'm sure and you mentioned
- 24:31First Take has also evolved, so you get to kind of see how that
- 24:33goes. I love that.
- 24:34All right, Well, dear listener, you know we're done here, right?
- 24:36You're listening in your podcast app and you can see we're here
- 24:38at the end. So here is my challenge to you.
- 24:41If you're driving, don't do this.
- 24:42Wait till you get back to the office or the house or whatnot,
- 24:44but go to YouTube and type in race take all one word and
- 24:48that'll pop up his channel. Here's how I'd like to kind of
- 24:51when I'm figuring out if I'm going to like a new podcast or a
- 24:53new show, how do I kind of feel it?
- 24:55Feel it out and see if this will be the right show for me.
- 24:57One is we you just heard his favorite episode in the most
- 24:59popular episodes. I'd go back.
- 25:01So search race take and Trayvon that that will bring up all.
- 25:05I mean, you know, it's probably been a few times, but that'll
- 25:07bring up that episode. The one, the other one that he
- 25:10talked about is one of his favorite ones with Fred Curley.
- 25:13Search those, go watch those cuz that'll kind of give you if
- 25:16that's his favorite. Well, those are probably pretty
- 25:17good shows And if they're the most popular show, well, that
- 25:20means a lot of other people liked it.
- 25:21And then watch the latest show cuz that gives you today's
- 25:24flavor and style and him and the panel and how he's doing things.
- 25:28And then make sure you hit the subscribe button cuz that way
- 25:30you'll know you talked about Sunday nights.
- 25:32But I know him, sometimes he likes to just impromptu hit the
- 25:35record button because something's hot and burning in
- 25:37his mind and he's got to get it out.
- 25:39So if you hit the subscribe button, you'll know every time
- 25:42that's happening. So Sunday nights and then any
- 25:44other impromptu additional material.
- 25:46And then you'll, you'll be the first to know.
- 25:48So you'll know that. So thank you so much for being
- 25:50here. Thanks for checking out.
- 25:51I hope Ray's take the reason we were doing this all month in
- 25:54February. I hope that it adds value to
- 25:56you, to your listening pleasure into your track and field world.
- 25:59And Ray, I'm just so grateful for you.
- 26:01I'm grateful for our friendship and just really thankful for the
- 26:05value that you do put out there in the track and field world.
- 26:07It's needed and, and I'm glad you're providing.
- 26:10So just really, really grateful for you.
- 26:12I appreciate it, brother. I appreciate it.
- 26:14As always. I'm grateful for people like
- 26:16you. So we're going to keep this
- 26:17thing going because we're all grateful that we had a life in
- 26:20track and field. That's it, baby.
- 26:22All right, Ray. Thank you so much man.
- 26:23Appreciate it. No problem brother.
