- 0:05Speaker 1: Let's go from a championship backfield to your morning drive.
- 0:09Speaker 3: Ham'sday.
- 0:09Speaker 4: Hester and Hester got it.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Five out of PA.
- 0:13Speaker 1: You're locked in to Off the Bench described Control the
- 0:19Speaker 1: live from the Mercedes Benz of Baton Rouge Studio. Here's
- 0:23Speaker 1: Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Yoo yo, Cassie, don't let us down, Yo, thank you.
- 0:46Speaker 2: I never opened the show like that, but we hadn't
- 0:48Speaker 2: done it all week and I kind of missed it.
- 0:49Speaker 2: So we're doing that. I just decided to do it.
- 0:54Speaker 2: That's my fault. I didn't tell you, guys. Taylor Shropier
- 0:57Speaker 2: with you in the host share. We got along for
- 0:58Speaker 2: Hillary Alan Cassie Spizally. If you can see this black
- 1:01Speaker 2: dot on my shirt, it's been a morning guys. I
- 1:04Speaker 2: carried in about six things, had the energy drink held
- 1:07Speaker 2: up here and evidently it had some connosation audit. So
- 1:09Speaker 2: now we got a giant wet spot on the black Shirtie, Well,
- 1:13Speaker 2: here's something else. I noticed. Only thing that makes me
- 1:15Speaker 2: more pale than wearing a white shirt in these lights.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Wearing a black shirt that forehead pretty shiny here this morning.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Cassie's probably gonna have to wear sunglasses, changing those cameras
- 1:25Speaker 2: all show long. Look, we are here rocking and rolling,
- 1:27Speaker 2: gonna have a good time on this Friday, jacing matter out.
- 1:30Speaker 2: They needed the day off here on this Friday after
- 1:33Speaker 2: being out in Atlanta all week working so hard. But
- 1:35Speaker 2: we are here with you. We got a Landra, We
- 1:37Speaker 2: got Cassie. Guys, how we feel in a Landra. You
- 1:41Speaker 2: were out in New Orleans for UFC fight week, so
- 1:44Speaker 2: it was a mixer last night.
- 1:46Speaker 5: Went in today, so there's like a press conference. I
- 1:49Speaker 5: had to miss the media day, which I'm upset about
- 1:51Speaker 5: because you get them like one on one at that,
- 1:54Speaker 5: but I mean I just couldn't make it in time.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Well I mean you're dusting a buds anyway. So yeah,
- 1:58Speaker 2: we're cool.
- 1:59Speaker 5: Yeah, we're actually like but I feel I was wondering yesterday,
- 2:05Speaker 5: Like I was like, if I asked a question at
- 2:07Speaker 5: the press conference and I'm like, Elandro, wonderful, Well, nobody
- 2:11Speaker 5: was doing that, so I would have been the only
- 2:12Speaker 5: one doing that if I would have done that, because yeah,
- 2:15Speaker 5: like okay, amateur, But I wonder if he would have
- 2:18Speaker 5: been like, oh yeah, we talked, Probably not, but.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Not a shot at you. He probably did see many
- 2:26Speaker 2: people at super Bowl Week. If it weren't have been
- 2:28Speaker 2: super Bowl week, I would have thought maybe, like if
- 2:30Speaker 2: it was like a one on one and he did
- 2:31Speaker 2: like maybe two that day super Bowl Week. No chance.
- 2:34Speaker 6: He did say I'll see you at the post Malone show.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Did you see him at the post Bone shows?
- 2:39Speaker 5: I actually did not see him there, but I did
- 2:42Speaker 5: see like Shane Gillis there, which we never We didn't
- 2:44Speaker 5: talk about his sp We'll get to it. But anyway,
- 2:47Speaker 5: I'm like getting off track, but yes, uh press conference
- 2:51Speaker 5: yesterday it was awesome. This is my first time going
- 2:55Speaker 5: to like any sort of fight stuff, so it was
- 2:57Speaker 5: super cool, like a great experience. I was kind of
- 3:00Speaker 5: nervous because nobody from here is going. So I was like, Okay,
- 3:05Speaker 5: I'm gonna be at this press conference by myself.
- 3:07Speaker 6: I'm yeah, he's going to the fight. I'm gonna look
- 3:11Speaker 6: like a loser.
- 3:12Speaker 5: And then I'm gonna go to this mixer and I'm
- 3:14Speaker 5: just gonna be like standing by myself, like super awkward.
- 3:17Speaker 5: But as soon as I got there, like I sat
- 3:19Speaker 5: down next not next to this guy, but like near
- 3:22Speaker 5: this guy and he was like, hey, I'm Doug, like
- 3:24Speaker 5: super cool and like I kind of attached myself to
- 3:28Speaker 5: I was like, Okay, Doug, we won't be cool. Turns
- 3:31Speaker 5: out he works for Sports Illustrated, So that's a good
- 3:35Speaker 5: That was a good friend to make. But I did
- 3:38Speaker 5: meet up with our guy Devin snow shout out sentt
- 3:43Speaker 5: y'all pick in the group chat last night. Yeah, it
- 3:46Speaker 5: was fun seeing him and hanging out with him. He's
- 3:49Speaker 5: just as funny I r L and he is as
- 3:55Speaker 5: he is like on the internet or whatever. And it
- 3:56Speaker 5: was so funny because people kept coming up to him
- 3:58Speaker 5: and they were like, you look familiar. Are you the
- 4:01Speaker 5: Red Beans guy?
- 4:03Speaker 6: Poor dove?
- 4:05Speaker 2: But like the traction he's got from there, Yeah, it's
- 4:07Speaker 2: just it's just so he's wig ins today.
- 4:09Speaker 5: Weigh in so the way and starts at eight and
- 4:13Speaker 5: but yeah, but you're not going to that, No, But
- 4:15Speaker 5: they have a ceremonial one, like a one where like
- 4:19Speaker 5: they do all the fluff and stuff. So I'm gonna
- 4:22Speaker 5: go to that one because it's at four, and they're
- 4:24Speaker 5: also going to do like a Dustin retirement, like you know,
- 4:29Speaker 5: special thing. So Dale Cormier is gonna be out there,
- 4:32Speaker 5: So I'm excited for that.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Did you stay the night? That's the guys.
- 4:38Speaker 6: Cleared for me. On my way there and on the
- 4:41Speaker 6: way back, I was like, oh, thank god, because you know, I.
- 4:43Speaker 5: Was nervous about it because it was supposed to storm
- 4:46Speaker 5: and it was storming like when I left. When I
- 4:48Speaker 5: left to get there, it started pouring, and I was like,
- 4:50Speaker 5: oh my gosh, please please please.
- 4:52Speaker 6: But it's like the sky's cleared up.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Well, I mean, knock on wood reading last night about
- 4:57Speaker 2: the storm thing, like it dropped from like thirty percent
- 5:01Speaker 2: development to like ten. Now that could change, but like
- 5:04Speaker 2: it kind of just seems like it's not gonna rain,
- 5:06Speaker 2: maybe quite as much as they thought it did. Yeah,
- 5:08Speaker 2: maybe it will, maybe it won't, but uh yeah, apparently
- 5:12Speaker 2: the worst of it, Like it was going to be Saturday.
- 5:15Speaker 2: It might have been yesterday though. It just depends, all right.
- 5:19Speaker 2: So I'm excited about the way in like I wish
- 5:21Speaker 2: I was going because I like how every time it's
- 5:23Speaker 2: it's only the male fighters. They get on the way
- 5:25Speaker 2: in stage right, they're super serious and they always go,
- 5:28Speaker 2: oh yeah, they do every every dame right here. This happen, Like,
- 5:35Speaker 2: what do we do like that? Yeah, I just said
- 5:36Speaker 2: he was number one. We can't get up there number one, right, Yeah,
- 5:39Speaker 2: come on, somebody's gonna lose. But uh, I always think
- 5:42Speaker 2: that's really funny. All right, Look, we got a lot
- 5:44Speaker 2: on the dock today and what I what I kind
- 5:46Speaker 2: of do is our one's gonna be kind of a recap.
- 5:49Speaker 2: We're gonna recap sec media days, react to some things.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Our number two, we're gonna go a little bit all
- 5:54Speaker 2: over the player. We're gonna have Nick Underhill one actually
- 5:56Speaker 2: today since we didn't get to him on Tuesday. And
- 5:59Speaker 2: then hour three we're gonna preview the weekend. We're gonna
- 6:02Speaker 2: preview LSU football season. We're gonna get a Laundra's prediction
- 6:05Speaker 2: on the UFC fight, probably last full segment of the show,
- 6:09Speaker 2: since it's the big fight of the weekend. So we
- 6:11Speaker 2: got the whole show laid out for you, and right now,
- 6:14Speaker 2: let's get this thing started.
- 6:16Speaker 1: It's time to gig Glowing courtesy of Go Flow Ivy spa,
- 6:19Speaker 1: where hydration vitamins and a summer ready glow are always
- 6:23Speaker 1: on tap.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Now for starters, getting in for starters for a segment
- 6:28Speaker 2: show look at US. Okay, So SEC Media Days obviously
- 6:34Speaker 2: was all week long. It wrapped up yesterday, and you
- 6:37Speaker 2: hear a lot of like, oh, here's my projected order
- 6:39Speaker 2: of finish. We're going one through sixteen. I am not
- 6:41Speaker 2: going to go one through sixteen because that would take
- 6:43Speaker 2: about thirty minutes. We're not going to do that. What
- 6:46Speaker 2: I want to do is kind of maybe give you
- 6:47Speaker 2: my top three teams in the league, maybe the teams
- 6:50Speaker 2: I feel the best about, and then the teams at
- 6:52Speaker 2: the bottom of the league. I'm gonna have these two
- 6:54Speaker 2: of it here. Check me see if I'm right or wrong,
- 6:57Speaker 2: or whether they agree or disagree. Landro love that so
- 7:00Speaker 2: projected order of finish at the at least at the top,
- 7:05Speaker 2: there's three teams at the top. For me, it's LSU,
- 7:07Speaker 2: It's Georgia, it's Texas. I know everybody wants to go Alabama.
- 7:11Speaker 2: We'll talk about them a little bit later in the show.
- 7:13Speaker 2: I can't get there with them yet. I think there's
- 7:16Speaker 2: some question marks on that team. LSU is obvious. They
- 7:20Speaker 2: hit the portal hard. They got better at every skill position,
- 7:23Speaker 2: both sides of the ball, like outside of offensive line.
- 7:26Speaker 2: You went from having multiple question marks to very few. Now,
- 7:30Speaker 2: are the transfers on the d line going to workout
- 7:32Speaker 2: or the transfers in the secondary gonna work out? I
- 7:33Speaker 2: don't know. But talent and depth wise, you're better right
- 7:36Speaker 2: now than you were any point last season. That's why
- 7:39Speaker 2: I feel so confident in LSU, and they have the
- 7:41Speaker 2: most stable quarterback situation in the entire conference coming into
- 7:44Speaker 2: the season. The next team is Georgia. Look, Georgia lacks
- 7:49Speaker 2: weapons on offense. Gunnar Stockton is a new starter. I
- 7:52Speaker 2: understand that, but in my opinion, Kirby Smart has earned
- 7:55Speaker 2: the benefit of the doubt. Like you'd be hard pressed
- 7:58Speaker 2: to find me two coaches, I would tell you we're
- 8:00Speaker 2: a better college football coach right now than Kirby Smart.
- 8:03Speaker 2: He has earned the benefit of the doubt in my hies. Now,
- 8:07Speaker 2: I just mentioned Stockton as a new quarterback. He didn't
- 8:09Speaker 2: play a ton last season, but he showed some promise.
- 8:12Speaker 2: I mean, they didn't ask him to do a ton
- 8:14Speaker 2: in that SEC Championship game against Texas, but he was efficient. Nonetheless,
- 8:18Speaker 2: he got the job done in a really tough situation
- 8:21Speaker 2: like he played against the Texas and then Notre Dame
- 8:23Speaker 2: in the playoff game. Both of those teams had top
- 8:26Speaker 2: five defenses last year, like those are elite college defenses,
- 8:29Speaker 2: and he held his own. It was not disastrous. He
- 8:31Speaker 2: looked like he belonged out there an offseason where he
- 8:34Speaker 2: knows he's the starter, where he's getting all the one reps.
- 8:37Speaker 2: There's a chance that Gunner Stockton takes a step forward.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Now maybe he doesn't, But what else I like about
- 8:42Speaker 2: Georgia Kirby freaking smarts your coach. You know that defense
- 8:45Speaker 2: is going to be elite. So if Gunner Stockton can
- 8:50Speaker 2: just go in there, take care of the football, not
- 8:53Speaker 2: turn it over, not put his defense in a bad spot,
- 8:55Speaker 2: that defense is going to keep you in every game
- 8:57Speaker 2: you play in twenty twenty five. That's what Carson Beck
- 9:01Speaker 2: did first year start. And I remember last year Beck
- 9:04Speaker 2: had the turnover issues before his injury kind of put
- 9:08Speaker 2: Georgia in some binds at times. If Gunner Stockton can
- 9:10Speaker 2: eliminate all that, I think he'll be fine. I really do.
- 9:13Speaker 2: I mean, he's been in this program, what four years now?
- 9:17Speaker 2: He said behind Stetsan Bennett. Carson Beck waited his turn
- 9:20Speaker 2: like Gunner Stockton's been there, done that, and then the
- 9:24Speaker 2: last team I want to highlight is the Texas Long
- 9:26Speaker 2: Wars because they're very similar to Georgia. I think they
- 9:29Speaker 2: have a really good college football coach at Steve starkejan Now.
- 9:34Speaker 2: I've said it multiple times this show, other shows I
- 9:36Speaker 2: filled in. I'm taking a wait and see approach with
- 9:39Speaker 2: Arch Manning, and I think that's the right thing to do.
- 9:41Speaker 2: I think Arch is very talented. And look, if you
- 9:44Speaker 2: had to put me on the spot, is Art's going
- 9:45Speaker 2: to be good or bad next year? I'd say Arch
- 9:47Speaker 2: is probably going to be very good, but we still
- 9:49Speaker 2: need to wait and see. My biggest issue with Texas
- 9:53Speaker 2: is they lose a lot of weapons on offense. You
- 9:56Speaker 2: lose Matthew Golden, Isaya, Bond, Gunnerhilm those are your top
- 9:59Speaker 2: three receivers from a year ago, and you lose multiple
- 10:02Speaker 2: offensive linemen, one of which was drafted in the top ten.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Is gonna start at left tackle for the New Orleans Saints.
- 10:08Speaker 2: But a lot like Georgia, their defense should be one
- 10:10Speaker 2: of the best in college football. Again this year. You've
- 10:12Speaker 2: got Michael taff back. That was huge. Jacob matt were
- 10:15Speaker 2: raving about his performance at SEC media Days. Just a
- 10:18Speaker 2: couple of days ago. All of these teams have flaws,
- 10:22Speaker 2: right Georgia and Texas are breaking into quarterbacks, and I
- 10:25Speaker 2: think they lacked some explosive weapons on offense. LSU has
- 10:29Speaker 2: an experienced quarterback, has a ton of weapons on offense.
- 10:33Speaker 2: The offensive line is not where you want it to be.
- 10:36Speaker 2: You're waiting for the defense to finally show up and
- 10:38Speaker 2: be more consistent. All these teams have flaws, but it's
- 10:41Speaker 2: just a combination of coaching staff, players on the team. Like,
- 10:44Speaker 2: these are the teams I feel are the safest picks
- 10:47Speaker 2: right now. That may change, who knows what's going to
- 10:50Speaker 2: happen here in the offseason lead up to the season,
- 10:51Speaker 2: But right now there's maybe the three safest teams that
- 10:54Speaker 2: I don't think any of these teams are going to
- 10:56Speaker 2: be an absolute disaster. Guys, top three teams, LSU, Georgia, Texas.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Did I miss anybody?
- 11:01Speaker 1: Like?
- 11:01Speaker 2: Is there a team you think could win the SEC
- 11:04Speaker 2: or will win the SEC that I did not mention?
- 11:06Speaker 6: Okay, sorry, Georgia librariies. Okay, So LSU, Georgia and Texas those.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Are your options about three in the conference right now?
- 11:14Speaker 2: Is there somebody that you would take out and move in.
- 11:19Speaker 6: Yeah, I can't.
- 11:20Speaker 5: I can't either, And there's nobody else that's like really
- 11:23Speaker 5: sticking out to me in terms of like having.
- 11:26Speaker 2: All the pieces right, you know what I mean?
- 11:28Speaker 6: So I agree with you.
- 11:31Speaker 5: But did you say I was kind of I'm trying
- 11:33Speaker 5: to get the libraries, but I was kind of listening
- 11:35Speaker 5: that you said Texas lost a lot of pieces.
- 11:38Speaker 2: On offense the receivers.
- 11:39Speaker 5: Yes, yes, okay, So I agree with that as well,
- 11:42Speaker 5: So I'm kind of like I kind of want to
- 11:44Speaker 5: leave them out of it.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Steve Star on office is a lot like Kirby on defense. Yeah,
- 11:52Speaker 2: and you bring in Jamie French and Khalik Lockett to
- 11:55Speaker 2: five star freshmen. They're freshmen and if anybody can make
- 11:59Speaker 2: them look good at Steve Sarksian.
- 12:02Speaker 5: No, I like his play calling and I like him
- 12:04Speaker 5: as a coach, so I see that too. But I
- 12:08Speaker 5: don't know, like I can't, like you can't I do it, Bama.
- 12:10Speaker 5: I can't really get that.
- 12:11Speaker 2: I get there's question marks all over the place. Like
- 12:13Speaker 2: everyone wants to say, oh, there's so many quarterbacks in
- 12:15Speaker 2: the SEC. Not really, We'll get to that a little
- 12:18Speaker 2: bit next segment. Like there's there's really not a ton
- 12:20Speaker 2: as far as experience outside of Garrett Osmack all Right,
- 12:22Speaker 2: I got a bottom three here before we go to break.
- 12:25Speaker 2: This is pretty easy to me, Like Arkansas is going
- 12:28Speaker 2: to be in my bottom three. I know there's a
- 12:29Speaker 2: lot of people that are excited about them. I'm not.
- 12:32Speaker 2: I really thought Sam Pittman would have been out of
- 12:34Speaker 2: there by now. Like even though it's hard to say,
- 12:36Speaker 2: I like Sam Pittman, but I mean, look when you
- 12:37Speaker 2: look at his year by year, this is year. This
- 12:41Speaker 2: is year six for Sam Pittman at Arkansas. The first
- 12:44Speaker 2: year he took over in twenty twenty obviously an awful situation.
- 12:48Speaker 2: He goes three and seven twenty twenty one, nine and four,
- 12:52Speaker 2: and that was the year of But who's like, Okay,
- 12:53Speaker 2: can Pittman turn this thing around? Since then? Seven and six,
- 12:58Speaker 2: four and eight last year a little bit of a
- 13:00Speaker 2: bounce back seven and six as well. But everyone's going
- 13:04Speaker 2: to say Taylor Green's going to take that next step.
- 13:06Speaker 2: I just don't think he is. And that's not to
- 13:08Speaker 2: say Taylor Green's a bad quarterback, like I don't think
- 13:10Speaker 2: he is. But he's been a starter for three years
- 13:13Speaker 2: in college football to a Boise State won last season.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Here's what Taylor Green's done. Fourteen touchdowns, six picks, eleven touchdowns,
- 13:21Speaker 2: nine picks, fifteen touchdowns, nine picks. We kind of know
- 13:25Speaker 2: who Taylor Green is. Last year there were question mark saying, hey,
- 13:29Speaker 2: can he make the jump from Boise State to Arkansas.
- 13:31Speaker 2: He can't, but he was the exact same player. And
- 13:33Speaker 2: I mean completion percentage and everything, sixty one, fifty seven, sixty.
- 13:37Speaker 2: He's been really consistent across the board. But that's who
- 13:40Speaker 2: Taylor Green is. They lacks him explosive weapons, Like I
- 13:43Speaker 2: think they'll have a decent run game, but I don't know.
- 13:46Speaker 2: I can't get there with Arkansas the other team. I
- 13:49Speaker 2: want to look at his Mississippi State. I like Blake Shapin.
- 13:53Speaker 2: I think Blake Chapan's a really good player. Like I
- 13:55Speaker 2: don't know if you guys realized this. Blake Shapin last
- 13:58Speaker 2: year before getting injured, played in four games. He had
- 14:02Speaker 2: eleven total touchdowns and one turnover for Mississippi State. Blake
- 14:06Speaker 2: Shapin was balling. Problem was he didn't have any support
- 14:10Speaker 2: on the outside. I still don't think he's gonna have
- 14:13Speaker 2: a ton of support on the outside like Blake Chapin
- 14:15Speaker 2: could do that once again. I don't think it's going
- 14:18Speaker 2: to make a huge difference. I'm not sure about Jeff
- 14:21Speaker 2: Lebby as a coach. I know he's all about the swag.
- 14:24Speaker 2: I don't see the swag with Jeff Leby. I think
- 14:26Speaker 2: Mississippi State's really going to struggle. And then the team
- 14:29Speaker 2: I got probably at the bottom of this conference. I
- 14:32Speaker 2: know a lot of people want to pick Mississippi State.
- 14:35Speaker 2: I'm going with the Kentucky Wildcats. Like that's good.
- 14:37Speaker 6: There's a lot of question marks with the wild.
- 14:40Speaker 2: That might be the team I will pick. Do finish last.
- 14:43Speaker 2: I know a lot of people are gonna pick Mississippi State,
- 14:45Speaker 2: but they're gonna struggle at quarterback once again, they cannot
- 14:48Speaker 2: get it right. They went from Will Levis, who actually
- 14:51Speaker 2: was pretty good as last year. You bring in Devin Leary,
- 14:53Speaker 2: had a lot of hype around him, did nothing. Bringing
- 14:56Speaker 2: Brock Vandergrif last year, had a lot of hype around
- 14:58Speaker 2: in former five star from or Cham did nothing. Now
- 15:02Speaker 2: you bring in Zach Kelzotta, who has played college football
- 15:04Speaker 2: for about a decade, but he hasn't exactly wowed anywhere
- 15:07Speaker 2: he's been. I mean Zack Kelzotta's claim to fameus he
- 15:11Speaker 2: beat Alabama in college station like two and a half
- 15:14Speaker 2: years ago. Since then, like he got benched to Texas
- 15:17Speaker 2: A and m didn't he drop down to incarnate word.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Now he's coming back up into the SEC. I just
- 15:21Speaker 2: don't see it. And as bad as that offense was
- 15:25Speaker 2: a year ago, they at least had weapons. I mean
- 15:29Speaker 2: they lost their major weapons, like Barry and Brown obviously
- 15:32Speaker 2: playing right here in bat rugs this year. He was
- 15:33Speaker 2: a huge weapon for him a year ago. Now they
- 15:35Speaker 2: couldn't get the ball too because they had a bad quarterback.
- 15:38Speaker 2: But Dane Keith, he actually had a really good year
- 15:41Speaker 2: last year as well. He's gonna play in Nebraska next year.
- 15:44Speaker 2: You lose your top two receivers, you're breaking in another
- 15:46Speaker 2: quarterback who, in my opinion, is a below average college
- 15:50Speaker 2: quarterback anyways. And I'm not saying Mark Stoops is a
- 15:53Speaker 2: bad coach, Like I know Matt and T Bob always
- 15:58Speaker 2: pick on Jake because Jake's a big Mark Stops. I'm
- 16:00Speaker 2: somewhere in the middle. I think Mark Stoops is a
- 16:02Speaker 2: good coach. I think he's done a lot more at
- 16:05Speaker 2: Kentucky than a lot of people. Can I just think
- 16:07Speaker 2: the program's kind of stay all right now, Like where
- 16:11Speaker 2: is Mark Stoobs going to this point? Every now and
- 16:13Speaker 2: then you're like, Okay, he's won nine games, he's won
- 16:15Speaker 2: eight games, Like that's good for Kentucky. He's not doing
- 16:17Speaker 2: that right now, and like I don't see a path
- 16:19Speaker 2: forward for him to be able to do that, especially
- 16:22Speaker 2: in the NIL era, Like Kentucky's all about basketball. Football
- 16:25Speaker 2: is gonna come second for them, So what are they
- 16:29Speaker 2: really going to be? I struggle with that. So look
- 16:31Speaker 2: kind of a little bit of a recap my top
- 16:33Speaker 2: three teams and I'm most confident in going into the
- 16:35Speaker 2: season LSU, Georgia, Texas. My bottom three that I am
- 16:39Speaker 2: least confident in, Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Kentucky. All Right,
- 16:43Speaker 2: we're going to take a quick time out speaking of
- 16:45Speaker 2: the laws. Shoot, Tigers, are we more confident or less
- 16:49Speaker 2: confident than them? After media days? We're breaking that down
- 16:52Speaker 2: next here on off the bench. Off the bench.
- 16:57Speaker 7: Well, speaking of diving in, we'd like to dive into
- 17:01Speaker 7: a Russell pool because when you see what they can
- 17:05Speaker 7: do for you, you'll be blown away. I mean they're
- 17:08Speaker 7: going to make the pool of your dreams. In fact,
- 17:11Speaker 7: that's their tagline because they know it is factual. Let's
- 17:15Speaker 7: build your dream pool. And what better time to get
- 17:19Speaker 7: that process started than right now because you are going
- 17:23Speaker 7: to enjoy it year long. Look, this is Louisiana. It
- 17:27Speaker 7: is always pull season here in Louisiana. But this is
- 17:29Speaker 7: truly a one stop shop. We're talking about construction, maintenance, retail,
- 17:33Speaker 7: all of that you handle with one company. That company
- 17:36Speaker 7: is Russell pool Company. And you can trust them. We
- 17:40Speaker 7: trust them. Everybody they build pools for trust them. Lshue.
- 17:44Speaker 7: The Tigers trust them as well. Yeah, let them build
- 17:46Speaker 7: your dream pool.
- 17:47Speaker 8: They can do everything from design to landscape, architect to
- 17:51Speaker 8: finance and options.
- 17:52Speaker 2: They can do it all.
- 17:53Speaker 8: When you think of quality pools, you think of Russell Pools,
- 17:55Speaker 8: Russell Pools dot Com.
- 18:05Speaker 9: This time this place misused mistakes too long to who.
- 18:16Speaker 1: That make you?
- 18:19Speaker 8: Just lom Chance, just lom Man, just in case.
- 18:24Speaker 1: This just one from players to legends, Hester and Flynn
- 18:27Speaker 1: breakdown l s U football like only champions can.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Cause you ever heard the story about that time Jake
- 18:39Speaker 2: was out. It was like the day before fourth of
- 18:40Speaker 2: July and he like forced the laundry to play the
- 18:43Speaker 2: entire free Bird, like all eight minutes of it. Well,
- 18:46Speaker 2: this is my free Bird, Like I just want this
- 18:47Speaker 2: song to play the whole day.
- 18:48Speaker 6: This is such a great song. Oh, it's incredible.
- 18:52Speaker 2: It's almost like it's almost like Nickelback's a good band
- 18:55Speaker 2: and they get hate for the reason. Cassie. No, he
- 18:58Speaker 2: played air guitar though for like that four minutes.
- 19:01Speaker 6: Yet he made me play the entire solo of free Bird.
- 19:06Speaker 6: That's great.
- 19:07Speaker 5: Like we we set here for eight minutes uncomfortable. I
- 19:11Speaker 5: wanted to like crawl into my skin.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Like Alon just like trying to wave to it and
- 19:16Speaker 2: be like, hey, can we turn this down?
- 19:18Speaker 5: I turned it down and Tea Bop goes don't get
- 19:20Speaker 5: scared now, like made me turn it back up.
- 19:23Speaker 2: That crazy fact that was a whole segment you just
- 19:26Speaker 2: played free Bird.
- 19:27Speaker 5: People were like, oh, I thought I switched the channel
- 19:30Speaker 5: to you in ninety eight point one, like it.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Was I mean this was last fourth of July. Yeah,
- 19:36Speaker 2: I think it was like the day before because we
- 19:37Speaker 2: were all on the fourth. But yeah, feeling himself that day.
- 19:41Speaker 2: This is the type of music this is. This is
- 19:43Speaker 2: my Tea Bob free Bird solo. This is it this
- 19:46Speaker 2: is it, this is this is the vibes we needed
- 19:49Speaker 2: on a Friday. Excellent choice there, all right, look SEC
- 19:53Speaker 2: med days obviously this entire week, which is why Jake
- 19:56Speaker 2: and Matter not here today. They did fly back home yesterday.
- 20:00Speaker 2: That everybody's always going to ask, Okay, well, you know
- 20:05Speaker 2: who won SEC media Day, so who wanted who lost?
- 20:08Speaker 2: I don't think you can win or lose SEC media Days. However,
- 20:12Speaker 2: Eli Drinkwinz did win it yesterday. We'll get to that
- 20:14Speaker 2: a little bit later. As far as like being more
- 20:18Speaker 2: confident or less confident in LSU after media Days, I
- 20:22Speaker 2: hate to give you the boring answer, but like I'm
- 20:25Speaker 2: kind of the same. And the reason is I'm high
- 20:30Speaker 2: on them for a number of reasons, a little bit
- 20:32Speaker 2: of what we talked about last segment, Like they're one
- 20:34Speaker 2: of my top teams in the SEC. Garrett Nosemeyer is
- 20:38Speaker 2: the top reason on this list. When you look at LSU,
- 20:42Speaker 2: they by far have the most stability in the conference
- 20:45Speaker 2: at the quarterback position. It's weird to look at because
- 20:50Speaker 2: a lot of the top teams in the SEC this
- 20:52Speaker 2: year have questions a quarterback. A lot of the teams
- 20:55Speaker 2: you think are gonna struggle. They actually have a little
- 20:58Speaker 2: bit of stability. Vanderbilt of Mississippi State, like those teams
- 21:03Speaker 2: know at Arkansas, like those teams know who their quarterback is.
- 21:07Speaker 2: They're just going to struggle everywhere else. And when you
- 21:09Speaker 2: look at some of the quote unquote elite teams, Gunner
- 21:12Speaker 2: Stockton first year's starter, arch Man into Texas first year starter.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Alabama's likely going to roll with Ty Simpson, He's going
- 21:20Speaker 2: to be a first year starter. Like oh Miss Austin
- 21:24Speaker 2: Simmons first year starter. All of those teams have a
- 21:28Speaker 2: ton of talent around the quarterback position. It's just the
- 21:31Speaker 2: most important position on the field is their biggest question
- 21:34Speaker 2: mark going into the season. It's more than Nu Smier though,
- 21:40Speaker 2: like I mentioned, you have the most stability at the
- 21:41Speaker 2: quarterback position. You were awesome in the transfer portal. There
- 21:45Speaker 2: was a ton of talent a wide receiver and defensive back,
- 21:48Speaker 2: which is a big question market. Look, Karin Lacy made
- 21:52Speaker 2: big plays for you a year ago. Mason Taylor left
- 21:54Speaker 2: this program as the best tight end in school history.
- 21:57Speaker 2: I think you're better at wide receiver and tight then
- 22:00Speaker 2: you wear a year ago. Depth wise, Aaron Anderson's back
- 22:03Speaker 2: because Avion Thomas is back. Chris Hilton was just at
- 22:06Speaker 2: SEC media days. Coaching staff expects him to have a
- 22:08Speaker 2: big year. You add Barran Brown, Nick Anderson, who's six
- 22:12Speaker 2: foot five coming over from Oklahoma. I think he's gonna
- 22:14Speaker 2: be a matchup nightmare. Like that's six guys I just
- 22:18Speaker 2: listed right there, and that's not counting some of the
- 22:20Speaker 2: freshmen and some of the guys that are that are
- 22:22Speaker 2: under the radar a little bit. Kyle Parker coming back
- 22:24Speaker 2: from injury. I mean there's weapons galore on offense. I'm
- 22:27Speaker 2: sure you lose Mason Taylor, but tradeds Green he's back.
- 22:31Speaker 2: He's gonna have a bigger role. Bower Sharp is a
- 22:32Speaker 2: lot more versatile than a lot of people are giving
- 22:34Speaker 2: him credit for at the tight end position. And then
- 22:38Speaker 2: on the defensive side of things, you need a corner
- 22:41Speaker 2: help and safety help in a big way. He and
- 22:43Speaker 2: aj Hawsey and Tamarcus Cooley at safety. I think both
- 22:46Speaker 2: of those guys are going to start Week one. You
- 22:49Speaker 2: go get man Sword Delaying at the corner. You go
- 22:51Speaker 2: get jakeem Jackson a corner like you have completely rebuilt
- 22:55Speaker 2: that defensive back. Ash and Stamps is still there as well.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Entering pretty much his third year as a starter. He
- 23:02Speaker 2: started a good bit as a freshman, was your starter
- 23:05Speaker 2: all year last season opposite Zaia Alexander. Like Ashton Stamps,
- 23:09Speaker 2: He's been there, done that, he knows this defense. He's
- 23:11Speaker 2: played in big time football games. He's gonna be fun.
- 23:13Speaker 2: You also have five star freshmen DJ Pickett, who's been
- 23:17Speaker 2: on campus for a while.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Now.
- 23:21Speaker 2: You have a lot more depth on the d line.
- 23:24Speaker 2: You lose both. You lose Bo Davis, who, as far
- 23:26Speaker 2: as like on field, in my opinion, may have been
- 23:29Speaker 2: the best coach on your staff. Him and Brad Davis
- 23:32Speaker 2: I think are the two just best fundamental teaching coaches
- 23:35Speaker 2: on your staff. But Kyle Williams knows what he's doing.
- 23:39Speaker 2: He's played the defensive tackle position at a high level
- 23:41Speaker 2: for a number of years. You added a lot of
- 23:44Speaker 2: depth and you have a mod bro back. You have
- 23:46Speaker 2: Dominic McKinley back who both showed flashes as a freshman.
- 23:49Speaker 2: They're gonna be bigger, stronger, faster, more ready to go
- 23:52Speaker 2: here in year two. In this program, you're also cleaned
- 23:57Speaker 2: up at ed rusher save you On Jones and Brayden Swinson.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Like Britain Swinson was a weapon for you a year ago.
- 24:05Speaker 2: He was a game changing player. Both of those guys
- 24:09Speaker 2: are gone. Then you lose to Sean Womack to the
- 24:11Speaker 2: transfer port. Gabriel Rliford played a little bit as a
- 24:14Speaker 2: freshman last year. Did you bring in Jack Pyburn, Jamari Butler,
- 24:18Speaker 2: who a lot of people aren't talking about, and then
- 24:19Speaker 2: Patrick Payton, the really good pass rusher from Florida State
- 24:25Speaker 2: A lot of the question marks you had a year ago,
- 24:28Speaker 2: you did an excellent job of filling that void. The
- 24:32Speaker 2: biggest concern, obviously, can that O line hold up A yeah.
- 24:37Speaker 2: I was actually having this conversation with a buddy of
- 24:39Speaker 2: mine yesterday. He was like, Hey, how do you think
- 24:40Speaker 2: the O line's gonna hold up against Clemson's D line.
- 24:43Speaker 2: My response was, I think they're gonna struggle in Game one.
- 24:46Speaker 2: But the fact that Brad Davis coaches this group, I
- 24:49Speaker 2: trust Brad Davis. I think Brad Davis is a great coach.
- 24:53Speaker 2: You lack experience there. You got bodies. You just don't
- 24:56Speaker 2: really know what you're going to get out of those bodies.
- 24:59Speaker 2: But if anybody can coach those guys up, it's Brad Davis.
- 25:02Speaker 2: You know, it's funny. I actually saw this if I
- 25:05Speaker 2: can pull up this tweet. Yeah. Danna Orlovsky yesterday was
- 25:08Speaker 2: talking about SEC media Days and he said, right now,
- 25:14Speaker 2: Garrett Nosmeyer is the best quarterback in college football. Two
- 25:16Speaker 2: things I love about him, He said, he's outstanding pocket management.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Nine percent pressure to sack rate, that was the lowest
- 25:22Speaker 2: in the SEC. I'll tell you right now, if Garrett
- 25:26Speaker 2: Olsmeyer has the lowest sack rate in the SEC, once again, LSU,
- 25:29Speaker 2: you might win the national championship because that means the
- 25:32Speaker 2: offensive line held up. You saw how good they were
- 25:34Speaker 2: pass blocking. A year ago. Where the O line struggled
- 25:38Speaker 2: was in the running game. This old line did a
- 25:41Speaker 2: pretty good job in the bowl game. And I get it,
- 25:44Speaker 2: it's a bowl game. It was against Baylor. You're not
- 25:45Speaker 2: playing them this year in a likelihood, but they were
- 25:48Speaker 2: thrown into the fire. I mean, you pretty much had
- 25:50Speaker 2: five new starters on the offensive line and you did
- 25:54Speaker 2: not allow a sack against a David Randon defense. That's
- 25:56Speaker 2: pretty impressive to me. Like I get, the bowl games
- 26:00Speaker 2: don't mean a ton, but you want to give confidence
- 26:02Speaker 2: to your fan base moving into the next season. That
- 26:04Speaker 2: did that a little bit for me, again small sample size,
- 26:08Speaker 2: not an SEC opponent, but a good defense with a
- 26:11Speaker 2: good defensive coach. They held up well. If they can
- 26:14Speaker 2: be an average offensive line this year, I think your
- 26:18Speaker 2: offense is going to be just fine. Nelsmar has the
- 26:20Speaker 2: weapons to get the ball out quick. And even if
- 26:23Speaker 2: you're not great at run blocking like you were a
- 26:24Speaker 2: year ago, I think you're better at the running back position.
- 26:27Speaker 2: Cayden Durham's a year older, Caleb Jackson's been in this
- 26:30Speaker 2: program for three years now. You bring in two stud
- 26:34Speaker 2: running backs, Harlem Berry, the number one running back in
- 26:37Speaker 2: all the high school football last season, then j T. Lindsay,
- 26:39Speaker 2: the big time recruit from ash Up at Alexandria. You're
- 26:43Speaker 2: going to be better at the running back spot. Last
- 26:46Speaker 2: year you basically had Caden Durham, Josh Williams. That was it.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Johnny Murray goes down after the first game of the season,
- 26:53Speaker 2: Caleb Jackson never found his footing throughout the year. That
- 26:56Speaker 2: was all you had. You had two running backs. I
- 26:57Speaker 2: think you got four. If Caleb Jackson is still up,
- 27:00Speaker 2: that can make an impact on this team. There's a
- 27:03Speaker 2: lot of ways you can help the O line.
- 27:05Speaker 6: No.
- 27:05Speaker 2: I was getting the ball off quicker to lose playmakers
- 27:07Speaker 2: and the running backers being overall better. That's the biggest
- 27:11Speaker 2: question mark though heading into the season. Outside of that, though,
- 27:16Speaker 2: even the dB rou I trust Corey Raymond. Even on
- 27:20Speaker 2: the d line. Kyle Williams doesn't have the coaching experience,
- 27:22Speaker 2: but he's played at a high level for a number
- 27:24Speaker 2: of years. And you're pretty talented, Dare You're better at receiver,
- 27:28Speaker 2: You're better at running back. I think you're really good
- 27:31Speaker 2: at linebacker. It's a room. We don't talk about a
- 27:33Speaker 2: ton that offensive line can hold up unless you could
- 27:36Speaker 2: have a really good season. All right, we're going to
- 27:38Speaker 2: take a quick time out. Put a button on SEC media.
- 27:40Speaker 2: DA's when we come back. There was a lot of
- 27:43Speaker 2: talk for a lot of media members that were out
- 27:45Speaker 2: there at SEC Media Days. Biggest surprise and biggest disappointing teams.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Who you think that could be in the SEC in
- 27:52Speaker 2: twenty twenty five. We'll talk about it next. You're run
- 27:54Speaker 2: off the bench.
- 27:55Speaker 7: Off the bench, all right, go to trash rangers at
- 27:59Speaker 7: dot com. Trash range one of the cool things they

- 29:05Speaker 2: Of send some feeling and this is out.
- 29:08Speaker 1: You remind me Tigers turn talkers, this is off the Bench.
- 29:16Speaker 3: Really, this is out.
- 29:19Speaker 1: You remind like.
- 29:24Speaker 7: You sorry not to f storry this time mistaking.
- 29:39Speaker 2: Every All right, welcome back. In Friday edition of Off
- 29:54Speaker 2: the Bench, Taylor Sharp sitting in for Jacob Estro and
- 29:56Speaker 2: t By Baby. We got a lot of Villa Reale.
- 29:58Speaker 2: We got Cassie's bizzelling No way I was stepping on
- 30:01Speaker 2: that song like that may not be your favorite Nickelback song.
- 30:05Speaker 2: A lot of people probably have a lot of different favorites,
- 30:07Speaker 2: but that just is Nickelback. When you when you think
- 30:09Speaker 2: of the band Nickelback, you think of that song, that
- 30:13Speaker 2: is the one. All right, Look, want to put a
- 30:15Speaker 2: button on SEC media days. We talked a lot of
- 30:18Speaker 2: SEC media days here and I on number one, and
- 30:21Speaker 2: I tease it a little bit there. Going into break,
- 30:25Speaker 2: I saw a lot of media members talk about who's
- 30:28Speaker 2: gonna be their biggest surprise team and their most disappointing
- 30:31Speaker 2: SEC team in twenty twenty five. I'll start with disappointing
- 30:37Speaker 2: because this one was easy for me. It's the Tennessee
- 30:39Speaker 2: Volunteers Tennessee made that run to the College Football Playoff
- 30:45Speaker 2: last year. I'm still shocked by that they're gonna have
- 30:48Speaker 2: a solid defense again this year. I just don't think
- 30:51Speaker 2: that offense will be good at all. You're breaking in
- 30:54Speaker 2: a new quarterback and Joey Maguire. You don't have a
- 30:58Speaker 2: ton of weapons on offense. Now, the pushback people are
- 31:01Speaker 2: going to say is or their quarterback last year wasn't great.
- 31:03Speaker 2: You didn't have a ton of weapons last year. I
- 31:05Speaker 2: understand that Nico wasn't good. Like I think his numbers
- 31:08Speaker 2: off the top of my head, I think his numbers
- 31:09Speaker 2: were like nineteen touchdown six picks something like that, and
- 31:14Speaker 2: like over half of his touchdown passes were outside the SEC.
- 31:18Speaker 2: I get all that. I don't know how you replaced
- 31:24Speaker 2: Dylan Samson if you're the Tennessee volunteers, that is my
- 31:27Speaker 2: biggest concern. Dylan Sampson last year SEC Offensive Player of
- 31:32Speaker 2: the Year. He was a monster. I mean he ran
- 31:34Speaker 2: for over fourteen hundred yards fourteen ninety one twenty two
- 31:38Speaker 2: rushing touchdowns. It was Dylan Sampson that kept you in
- 31:42Speaker 2: games a year ago, not Nico Iamalia. Nico wasn't good
- 31:46Speaker 2: That's why when everybody's like, why is Nico demanding three
- 31:49Speaker 2: and a half million dollars a year to go in
- 31:50Speaker 2: there and have a nineteen to six touchdown interception ratio
- 31:54Speaker 2: and you patted your stats out of conference. I'm not
- 31:56Speaker 2: worried about them at the quarterback position because I don't
- 31:59Speaker 2: think they were good their year ago. Replacing Dylan Samson
- 32:02Speaker 2: is going to be so hard. They're still gonna have
- 32:04Speaker 2: a good defense, but how good you replace the James
- 32:08Speaker 2: Pears He was a really good player for you. You
- 32:10Speaker 2: have another guy on the defensive line you have to replace.
- 32:14Speaker 2: While I think it's gonna be good, I think there's
- 32:16Speaker 2: a chance that defense takes a slight step back. I
- 32:20Speaker 2: think it's kind of a wash at the quarterback position,
- 32:22Speaker 2: and it's tough to replace the SEC offensive player of
- 32:24Speaker 2: the year. A lot of people still expect big things
- 32:27Speaker 2: out of Tennessee. I thought they overachieved last year, so
- 32:31Speaker 2: there's obviously a chance that they can do that again
- 32:32Speaker 2: this year. I don't see it, though, And honestly, I
- 32:38Speaker 2: considered Alabama here, but I don't think Alabama's gonna be
- 32:41Speaker 2: a disaster. That's why I didn't put them here. The
- 32:44Speaker 2: expectations is just so high. Like, Okay, the over underwind
- 32:49Speaker 2: totals came out yesterday and Alabama is it nine and
- 32:53Speaker 2: a half? I just can't get there. Whether it's Ti Sumpson,
- 32:58Speaker 2: Austin Mack, or Keeland. You're gonna have a brand new
- 33:01Speaker 2: starting quarterback. Jalen Milroe was your best running threat a
- 33:07Speaker 2: year ago. He's obviously gone. You lose Justice Haynes in
- 33:11Speaker 2: the transfer portal. You have jam Miller running back. He's
- 33:13Speaker 2: a fine running back, but jam Miller doesn't scare you
- 33:18Speaker 2: if you're an opposing defensive coordinator. Ryan Williams one of
- 33:22Speaker 2: the best receivers in college football. He's out there, but
- 33:26Speaker 2: what do you have outside of him right now? Jeremy Bernard.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Maybe you'll have one of those highly doubted freshmen step up,
- 33:32Speaker 2: But I mean outside of Ryan Williams, there's not a
- 33:35Speaker 2: ton of weapons on that offense, so you don't have
- 33:38Speaker 2: a ton of help around that first year quarterback. The
- 33:43Speaker 2: defense will probably still be good a lot like Tennessee.
- 33:45Speaker 2: But I just can't get there at nine and a
- 33:48Speaker 2: half right now. Ty Simpson, maybe Austin Mack, like one
- 33:51Speaker 2: of those guys is gonna have to show me before
- 33:54Speaker 2: I can hump on the Obama hype train. Year after
- 33:57Speaker 2: year after year, everyone ranked Obama so high, and rightfully so,
- 34:00Speaker 2: because you had an X factor that nobody else had
- 34:03Speaker 2: named Nick Saban. Nick Saban's not in that building anymore.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Kaylen de boor is a good football coach. He really is.
- 34:09Speaker 2: You go look at his record against Dan Lanning. A
- 34:12Speaker 2: lot of people think Dan Lanning is one of the
- 34:14Speaker 2: best coaches in college football. Hand up, I do as well.
- 34:17Speaker 2: Kaylin de Borr has a really good winning record against
- 34:20Speaker 2: Dan Lanning, So I mean, he knows how to win games.
- 34:23Speaker 2: But you're just not Nick Saban. And that's okay, But
- 34:26Speaker 2: let's stop hyping up Alabama like Debor is Nick Saban.
- 34:30Speaker 2: That's the only issue I have with the Crimson Tide
- 34:33Speaker 2: going into this year. As far as my surprising team,
- 34:38Speaker 2: like a team that may be able to overperform, this
- 34:40Speaker 2: one was hard like I considered Missouri. The only problem
- 34:45Speaker 2: is I don't know how big of a surprise that's
- 34:47Speaker 2: gonna be. Like at this point, Eli drink Wentz has
- 34:49Speaker 2: proven he can win games like they quietly won ten
- 34:52Speaker 2: games a year ago. If a really easy schedule, like
- 34:56Speaker 2: you're in the SEC, but you have six consecutive home
- 34:58Speaker 2: games then your bye week. I don't know how that happens.
- 35:01Speaker 2: I don't know who Eli's paying off to get that
- 35:03Speaker 2: easy schedule, because they probably had the easiest schedule in
- 35:06Speaker 2: the SEC a year ago and they have it again
- 35:08Speaker 2: this year. So with an easy schedule, approving coach who
- 35:13Speaker 2: has done it in the past, Like, I don't know
- 35:15Speaker 2: how big of a surprise that's going to be. I
- 35:18Speaker 2: considered Florida. However, I'm pausing on DJ Lagway a little
- 35:22Speaker 2: bit more than most people are. It's all Jake and Matt.
- 35:27Speaker 2: We were listening to him when we were back in
- 35:29Speaker 2: studio the other day. They were talking about Jackson Arnold
- 35:32Speaker 2: and they were like, hey, you know Jackson Arnold. His
- 35:35Speaker 2: numbers were up and down at Oklahoma a year ago,
- 35:37Speaker 2: and they were Jackson Arnold last season sixty two percent completion,
- 35:43Speaker 2: just fourteen hundred yards, twelve touchdowns, three interceptions, and Jackson
- 35:48Speaker 2: Arnold was benched, ran out of Oklahoma. Now he's at Auburn.
- 35:53Speaker 2: So why is everyone so high on DJ Lagway. Lagway's
- 35:58Speaker 2: numbers last year fifty nine percent completion, twelve touchdowns and
- 36:01Speaker 2: nine interceptions. Jackson Dart was actually better across the board
- 36:07Speaker 2: than DJ Lagway. I get it. You look at Lagway.
- 36:09Speaker 2: He's a big guy, he's a former five star. The
- 36:11Speaker 2: ball just looks different coming out of his hand. I
- 36:14Speaker 2: understand that, but you're gonna have to prove it to me.
- 36:16Speaker 2: DJ Lagway did not do that a year ago. He
- 36:18Speaker 2: just didn't. There were times he looked like the best
- 36:21Speaker 2: quarterback in the conference. There were times he looked like
- 36:24Speaker 2: he's a freshman thrown into the fire before he was ready.
- 36:27Speaker 2: I gotta see the consistence. Maybe Auburn, maybe just because
- 36:33Speaker 2: everybody's expectations are so low for the Auburn Tigers. Well,
- 36:38Speaker 2: this is Hugh's third year. He struggled really bad his
- 36:40Speaker 2: first two years in Auburn. I get that. I do
- 36:44Speaker 2: think this is probably the best offense he's had. Like
- 36:47Speaker 2: Hugh Freeze's biggest problem is he hitched his wagon to
- 36:50Speaker 2: Peyton Thorn two years in a row, and that was
- 36:52Speaker 2: the wrong decision. Peyton Thorn was not a good quarterback.
- 36:55Speaker 2: He was not an SEC caliber quarterback. That's the guy
- 36:58Speaker 2: that Hugh Freeze fell in love with. And with it,
- 37:02Speaker 2: you have Jackson Arnold coming over and again a lot
- 37:06Speaker 2: of people have mixed opinions about him, like I was
- 37:07Speaker 2: just talking about, but he's still a step up for
- 37:09Speaker 2: Peyton Thorn in my eyes. And if Jackson Dart doesn't work,
- 37:13Speaker 2: Jackson Arnold doesn't work out as the starter, you have
- 37:17Speaker 2: Ashton Daniels, who is the starter at Stanford a year ago,
- 37:20Speaker 2: and you have five star freshman Deuce Night. So if
- 37:23Speaker 2: Jackson Arnold stumbles out of the gate, you can pull
- 37:25Speaker 2: him like that. You got talent behind it. Cam Coleman,
- 37:33Speaker 2: for Auburn is an absolute study at six hundred yards
- 37:36Speaker 2: eight touchdowns as a true freshman, a big bodied wide receiver.
- 37:40Speaker 2: And then you bring in Eric Singleton from Georgia Tech,
- 37:42Speaker 2: who a little bit more of an underrated signing. As
- 37:46Speaker 2: far as like transfer portal, I thought he was one
- 37:48Speaker 2: of the top receivers in the transfer portal out of
- 37:50Speaker 2: Virginia Tech. He's a solid option. You pair him on
- 37:53Speaker 2: the other side of the field, him and cam Coleman.
- 37:55Speaker 2: That's a really good duo for Jackson Arnold to get
- 37:57Speaker 2: the ball to. It's probably better than any weapons he
- 38:01Speaker 2: had a year ago. Like yes, he had Bower, sharp
- 38:03Speaker 2: and tight end, but he lost Nick Anderson after one
- 38:05Speaker 2: game we had talked about that there was not a
- 38:07Speaker 2: ton of weapons over there at Oklahoma. I think Jackson
- 38:10Speaker 2: Arnold may have better weapons this year. You do have
- 38:13Speaker 2: to replace Jarques Hunter, but Freeze can figure that out.
- 38:17Speaker 2: They got talented running backs over there at Auburn they
- 38:19Speaker 2: always do. Can the defense improve is another big thing.
- 38:23Speaker 2: Their defense last year not up to the Auburn standard.
- 38:27Speaker 2: Say what you want about Auburn, their offenses have struggled
- 38:29Speaker 2: in recent years. They've always had a good defense. They
- 38:32Speaker 2: did not a year ago. If you could shore up
- 38:34Speaker 2: the defensive side of the ball and Jackson Arnold can
- 38:36Speaker 2: do just enough to upset some teams, maybe there's a
- 38:39Speaker 2: chance the Auburn Tigers surprise people. I don't feel great
- 38:42Speaker 2: about that, just because it's like I mean, I mentioned
- 38:45Speaker 2: it earlier. I gave you like my top three teams,
- 38:47Speaker 2: my bottom three teams. There's kind of a log jam
- 38:49Speaker 2: there in the middle where it's like, hey, whichever coach
- 38:52Speaker 2: pushes the right buttons at the right time, this team's
- 38:54Speaker 2: gonna emerge. I don't have faith that Hupreeze can do that,
- 38:57Speaker 2: but I do think this is the best team he's
- 38:59Speaker 2: had by since he's been over there with the Auburn Tigers.
- 39:04Speaker 2: All right, we're going to take a time out when
- 39:05Speaker 2: we get back. Well, obviously LSU plays Clemson in the opener,
- 39:10Speaker 2: and everybody seems to have, you know, different opinions of
- 39:15Speaker 2: Dabo Sweeney. I like Dabo Sweeney, Me and t bub
- 39:18Speaker 2: used to get into that a lot. We're gonna make
- 39:19Speaker 2: a little fun of our guy coming back here on
- 39:21Speaker 2: Off the bench.
- 39:24Speaker 7: Off the bench, all right, go to rouss dot com.
- 39:30Speaker 7: And when you go to rawss dot com, the thing
- 39:32Speaker 7: that we always kind of encourage you to do is
- 39:35Speaker 7: go check out that weekly ad. See what they have
- 39:37Speaker 7: on special. Now, hopefully you take advantage of the sixty
- 39:41Speaker 7: five year anniversary a week ago that we were telling
- 39:43Speaker 7: you about. But that doesn't mean that the deals are
- 39:46Speaker 7: going to stop. You go right now, you type in
- 39:49Speaker 7: your zip code, is gonna pull up that closest Rous's
- 39:51Speaker 7: market to you. Because that's one of the great things,
- 39:53Speaker 7: right you were going to have those deals in all
- 39:56Speaker 7: of those locations, Like right now, you've got boneless uh

- 40:19Speaker 8: usually likes a grocery store. We wouldn't usually send you
- 40:22Speaker 8: to the website route to go there because you can

- 40:26Speaker 8: can see their specials, what they're doing sixty five years.
- 40:31Speaker 8: Rouse's local market, you know what it is. Don't go
- 40:33Speaker 8: to those big, those national ones, you know what, go
- 40:36Speaker 8: to a local one.
- 40:37Speaker 2: And you know why, because it's better.
- 40:38Speaker 3: They sell my high too.
- 40:39Speaker 2: And they sell that my hike.
- 40:40Speaker 8: Go drink it. But go to Ralse's market. Go to
- 40:43Speaker 8: your nearest one. Get your groceries today.

- 42:10Speaker 8: Central plumbing dot Org, Central plumbing dot Org.
- 42:15Speaker 2: Welcome back. In final segment, I were number one here
- 42:17Speaker 2: on a Friday edition of Off the Bench Taylor Sharp's
- 42:20Speaker 2: sitting in Poor Jacobster and tabab Aber. We got a
- 42:23Speaker 2: landra Villarriale and Cassie spizzeally along for the ride as well. Okay,
- 42:30Speaker 2: Dabo Sweeney is corny in his own way. We all
- 42:33Speaker 2: know that, whether it's genuine, whether it's a disingenuine. Anytime
- 42:37Speaker 2: I've defended Dabo Sweeney, I've always said, look, he's uniquely himself,
- 42:41Speaker 2: Like you can't you can't fault the guy for being himself.
- 42:44Speaker 2: At least he's honest about things. However, this one, this
- 42:49Speaker 2: one's a little bit too fard. Do we have the
- 42:50Speaker 2: video ready? Okay, Dabo Sweeney? Was it some speaking engagement
- 42:54Speaker 2: media availability that not sure where it was, doesn't matter.
- 42:57Speaker 2: He was telling a story about how he went into
- 42:59Speaker 2: a bar owned by L Shue head coach Brian Kelly.
- 43:15Speaker 2: All right, give us one second, we'll get that video
- 43:18Speaker 2: to you. But anyways, he talks about how he has
- 43:21Speaker 2: a he went into a bar owned by l Shue
- 43:24Speaker 2: head coach Brian Kelly, and Kelly's wife had a bootique
- 43:28Speaker 2: right next to it. Look, look we only got like
- 43:31Speaker 2: three minutes. Still you got it? Okay, here it is
- 43:34Speaker 2: there on.
- 43:34Speaker 4: Great least little spot. So my brother or my sister
- 43:41Speaker 4: in law, she's saying, hey, Brian Kelly has a place.
- 43:46Speaker 4: His wife has a gift shop right on the corner
- 43:49Speaker 4: there in Greaton Beach. I'm like, oh, really, that's pretty cool.
- 43:52Speaker 4: You know, I had no idea. So anyway, we go
- 43:54Speaker 4: there and I walk off, I go into the store,
- 43:56Speaker 4: me and Calf walking in the store. Caf buys something
- 43:59Speaker 4: because she's trying to port missus Kelly or whatever we're doing.
- 44:03Speaker 4: So if she buys something and we go in the
- 44:04Speaker 4: store and I'm walking around, I go out and they're
- 44:08Speaker 4: like yeah, and he's he's got a concert. He's gonna
- 44:10Speaker 4: have a concert in the back. So I'm like, okay,
- 44:12Speaker 4: I'll walk out in the back. There's a little stage
- 44:14Speaker 4: in the back and there's like some I think it's
- 44:15Speaker 4: like fake grass or whatever, just a small little area,
- 44:18Speaker 4: and it says Brian Kelly, you know, performing live on
- 44:23Speaker 4: this day whatever. And I'm going, freaking nam Brian Kelly
- 44:27Speaker 4: sing play.
- 44:28Speaker 2: I didn't know that.
- 44:29Speaker 4: So I'm like taking pictures and I'm sending that to
- 44:33Speaker 4: Brian Kelly. I'm sitting, I'm sitting, I'm sending all these
- 44:37Speaker 4: pictures of Brian Kelly.
- 44:39Speaker 2: And then I'm then I'm like, I'm.
- 44:40Speaker 4: Going, you know, I'll get on the stage, you know,
- 44:43Speaker 4: Brian Kelly.
- 44:44Speaker 2: You know, I'm just kind of having some fun.
- 44:46Speaker 4: I'm like, you know, hey, I got and I send
- 44:48Speaker 4: all this to Brian Kelly.
- 44:50Speaker 2: All right.
- 44:52Speaker 4: Well, then the guy that was with my brother, he's
- 44:56Speaker 4: walking over because Cass said something about I don't know
- 44:59Speaker 4: what said I I just can't believe that Brian Kelly,
- 45:01Speaker 4: this is really cool. And and she's and you know,
- 45:04Speaker 4: like we we know we play them or something in
- 45:06Speaker 4: the opener or whatever.
- 45:07Speaker 2: To the gun He's like, he's good.
- 45:09Speaker 4: What And as it turns out, there's another Brian Kelly,
- 45:16Speaker 4: and he's.
- 45:17Speaker 2: Like he's the he's any what's the band?
- 45:20Speaker 4: Anybody know? It's uh something Florida Georgia Line or something.
- 45:24Speaker 4: I think it's called Florida Georgia Line or Georgia Florida
- 45:26Speaker 4: Line Band, Florida Georgia Line Band. And he's like the
- 45:30Speaker 4: lead singer or something. And I've even heard their songs,
- 45:33Speaker 4: but I.
- 45:33Speaker 2: Don't, Okay, So he sends these pictures to Brian Kelly.
- 45:37Speaker 2: I don't know if this is true. Guys, I'm gonna
- 45:39Speaker 2: I'm gonna kind of call out our guy dad, but
- 45:41Speaker 2: it Sweeny here. First off, why the hell would you
- 45:44Speaker 2: think that Brian Kelly was performing a concert? Look back
- 45:47Speaker 2: may have the pipes of an angel. I don't know,
- 45:49Speaker 2: I never heard it, but like that's where your thought went. Also,
- 45:52Speaker 2: if you have Brian Kelly's name in your phone and
- 45:55Speaker 2: you're good enough friends to text him back and forth,
- 45:58Speaker 2: Brian Kelly of Florida george line does not spell Kelly
- 46:01Speaker 2: the same way as our Brian Kelly. Brian Kelly Florida,
- 46:04Speaker 2: Georgia line is k E l l E y. Like look,
- 46:08Speaker 2: I like Dabo. This just seems a little disingenuous to me,
- 46:11Speaker 2: Like it was try hard in my opinion. And again
- 46:15Speaker 2: I'm I'm a dabbo defender at a lot more than
- 46:18Speaker 2: most people. I think he's a good coach, But I
- 46:20Speaker 2: just that one I was just kind of like, all right, like,
- 46:22Speaker 2: let's let's slow down a little bit, Dabo, Like you
- 46:24Speaker 2: don't you don't always have to be that guy, all right?
- 46:26Speaker 2: Coming up here in hour number two, we're in not
- 46:28Speaker 2: a big dealer, no big deal at the top of
- 46:30Speaker 2: the show. We'll do that here on this Friday. Then
- 46:31Speaker 2: Nick Underhill of New Orleans Dot Football coming up at
- 46:33Speaker 2: eight fifteen. Stay tuned. You're on the other side, on
- 46:35Speaker 2: off the bench, off the bench.
- 46:38Speaker 3: Well this feels weird because you know, I was watching the.
- 46:43Speaker 7: USA Mexico game and start thinking about do Sekis and
- 46:46Speaker 7: going for dose, and I guess it won out. I
- 46:49Speaker 7: guess it won out there. But look, we say it,
- 46:52Speaker 7: and it can't be just lip service. There's not a
- 46:55Speaker 7: bad time for do Seki's lake beer, pool beer, beach beer,
- 47:00Speaker 7: and sand do sequis in hand, tailgate beer. It is
- 47:03Speaker 7: never a bad time, So enjoy responsibly, put your feed up,
- 47:08Speaker 7: kick them all up, Enjoy an ice cold dose s.
- 47:11Speaker 2: Exis Logger especial, Ember especial. They got it.
- 47:16Speaker 8: We're in South Louisiana, all right. Everyone likes the beverage.
- 47:19Speaker 8: Everyone likes to have a little beer, cocktail, whatever it is.
- 47:22Speaker 8: Make it a dose Sekis, go for dose, the delicious
- 47:25Speaker 8: Mexican lagger. Anytime is a good time for a beer,
- 47:29Speaker 8: and especially do skes.
- 47:30Speaker 2: Drink responsibly, but delete some beers with the second
