- 0:15Speaker 1: you know Easter was one of my dad's favorite holidays,
- 0:17Speaker 1: and three years ago he made.
- 0:19Speaker 2: It through.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Easter Sunday that year before passing away on April fifteenth,
- 0:27Speaker 1: twenty twenty three. But it was fitting that last night
- 0:36Speaker 1: I got to be part of the Arthur I Dallas
- 0:39Speaker 1: one thousandth show celebration of the Power Hour. You've heard
- 0:44Speaker 1: me reference the time and time again at One Leg
- 0:46Speaker 1: Up Alex Media. And here's what he said last night.
- 0:51Speaker 3: Awich you filled in and let's say said there was
- 0:53Speaker 3: a couple of hiccups in the beginning. True, But then
- 0:56Speaker 3: I will say, like, you've really been flawless. You really,
- 1:00Speaker 3: you really have been flawless. And I don't know if
- 1:05Speaker 3: anyone is on your best all right, I learn from
- 1:08Speaker 3: this guy, I know. But I would have to say,
- 1:10Speaker 3: and Andy Gladding is here, Andy would have to agree
- 1:12Speaker 3: with me as well. He's really the ultimate engineer, I
- 1:16Speaker 3: would think. And Sam Malnico Cheiman, would you have to
- 1:18Speaker 3: say that Alex Garrett is the best engineer who only
- 1:23Speaker 3: has one leg. Yes, I mean there, I mean I
- 1:26Speaker 3: know a lot of engineers, but he's the only guy.
- 1:29Speaker 3: He's he's hopping around, he's riding around on his skate.
- 1:32Speaker 3: There he goes, he's skating. He listen, he's look, he's
- 1:37Speaker 3: very handsome. He's friends with the story.
- 1:39Speaker 1: I'm rolling around Grand Central and there you are at
- 1:41Speaker 1: a random bar.
- 1:43Speaker 2: You know, believe me, pectually, I'm at a bar before
- 1:45Speaker 2: you what a shot at Michael Jordan's bar back in
- 1:49Speaker 2: the day, and I'm with our friend Josh, and he goes,
- 1:52Speaker 2: Holy cow, look at this guy coming our way, and
- 1:55Speaker 2: here comes this guy skating on one leg with his
- 1:58Speaker 2: Yankee gear on. Hang.
- 2:00Speaker 3: I go, it's my buddy, and he sounds by the way, well, yeah,
- 2:04Speaker 3: that's right. And my my newest assistant, Alena is here.
- 2:08Speaker 3: She's the one who you know, you think Joni keeps
- 2:11Speaker 3: me in line for one hour a day. Alena's gotta
- 2:14Speaker 3: keep me in line the whole rest of the day.
- 2:17Speaker 3: And she's just kind of just started. She's not even
- 2:19Speaker 3: there a year. She must wondering what the hell is
- 2:21Speaker 3: going on with this guy. He's got celebrities walking in
- 2:24Speaker 3: and out. Some of them are in big trouble, and
- 2:26Speaker 3: some of them are gonna do a radio show like
- 2:28Speaker 3: why are they here?
- 2:29Speaker 2: Are they gonna get arrested?
- 2:31Speaker 3: Or are they gonna give an interview? So but we
- 2:33Speaker 3: have a lot both. Yes, that did happen once, so
- 2:37Speaker 3: we're having a good old time. I want to thank
- 2:39Speaker 3: Jerry Crowley because he's originally the one who busted my
- 2:42Speaker 3: chops to make this happen. So without you, Jerry would
- 2:45Speaker 3: be nowhere. I want to thank Laura because Laura lets
- 2:48Speaker 3: me happen. Happy one thousand show, everybody seeing tomorrow.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I wish my dad was here. I wish he
- 2:58Speaker 1: was here to call or to even be at. You know,
- 3:02Speaker 1: he came to a lot of station events. I'm sure
- 3:04Speaker 1: he met Arthur over the years, and uh, I've just
- 3:10Speaker 1: talked to Piscopo and Jerry Crowley and Laura the new
- 3:13Speaker 1: GM or a Schaeffer, and I miss him, you know,
- 3:20Speaker 1: I miss I wish I could have called him and said,
- 3:23Speaker 1: did you hear what Arthur said tonight? Did you hear
- 3:24Speaker 1: the show? Did you hear the thousandth show? But I
- 3:27Speaker 1: did think about how my dad, he was around, would
- 3:30Speaker 1: have been listening to that on his little walkman or
- 3:34Speaker 1: a little transmitter radio and beaming. But all day yesterday
- 3:38Speaker 1: as we were hitting the last day of March and
- 3:40Speaker 1: into this very reflective month. I remember back that first
- 3:46Speaker 1: Friday after my dad passed. I remember this moment on
- 3:51Speaker 1: the very same Arthur I Dalla Power Hour.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, I mean you always have a friend with you.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Let's just leave it at that.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Well yeah, well, and I'm gonna need a lot more
- 4:00Speaker 1: of my friends because my radio family this week has
- 4:03Speaker 1: really rallied around the fact that my dad has passed away.
- 4:07Speaker 1: And I know I missed my dad already. It's been
- 4:09Speaker 1: less than a week. But thank you Arthur and the
- 4:12Speaker 1: Power Our team and all of nine seventy for their
- 4:14Speaker 1: support during this time.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Oh that's very sweet, Alex. I didn't know if you
- 4:18Speaker 3: wanted to chat about that on air.
- 4:20Speaker 1: And now we got to talk sports because he and
- 4:22Speaker 1: I talk sports all the time. So I'm gonna be
- 4:24Speaker 1: calling you up.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Okay, aren't they whatever you need? Alex?
- 4:26Speaker 3: And may your dad be in a much better place
- 4:29Speaker 3: and you carry on his legacy and you know, be tough,
- 4:33Speaker 3: young man. That's all I can tell you.
- 4:35Speaker 1: My dad, And yeah, of course, my mom because she
- 4:37Speaker 1: was also with the radio. Thons sort of got me
- 4:41Speaker 1: into the media world very early and into radio, and
- 4:44Speaker 1: he grew me up listening to radio. And whenever I
- 4:47Speaker 1: talk about him on the radio, it's very special. And
- 4:51Speaker 1: Arthur's kindness truly is a blessing and it's very you know,
- 4:58Speaker 1: very fortunate, and I'm very honored to have his support
- 5:03Speaker 1: that he wants me on his team every night at
- 5:06Speaker 1: six pm on Amy nine seven the answer. When I
- 5:08Speaker 1: got home last night, I was very reflective and I
- 5:12Speaker 1: just thought about how wow, if he was here today,
- 5:18Speaker 1: I would have called him up after that thousands showings
- 5:20Speaker 1: a dad, Pops, what'd you think? And I just know
- 5:26Speaker 1: he's listening from above. I believe it in my heart's
- 5:32Speaker 1: to me a rough April. Every April is rough since
- 5:35Speaker 1: twenty twenty three, but we're gonna push through. I've got
- 5:38Speaker 1: my friends and family help me through this, and you
- 5:43Speaker 1: out there listening. I love coming to this microphone at
- 5:46Speaker 1: one look at Alex Media and just talking it out
- 5:48Speaker 1: with you as well. And my message today I want
- 5:50Speaker 1: look at Alex Media, is we all miss you, Pops,
- 5:53Speaker 1: but your legacy lives on
