Transcript
- 0:06Speaker 1: Hello, Welcome to another episode of The Intel with Greg Gosell.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Jeff Moser here with Adam Kaplan and of course Greg
- 0:12Speaker 1: Cosell and has promised he's going to recap the rest
- 0:15Speaker 1: of the NFC East. We already did the Eagles recap
- 0:18Speaker 1: of their draft. Now we're going to recap the NFC
- 0:21Speaker 1: East rivals of the Eagles and their twenty twenty six
- 0:25Speaker 1: NFL Draft. And Greg, we'll start with the chief rivals.
- 0:28Speaker 1: One of three teams in the division that had two
- 0:31Speaker 1: first round picks, the Dallas Cowboys. Somebody asked me, Greg,
- 0:34Speaker 1: what would be a nightmare scenario for an Eagles fan?
- 0:38Speaker 1: This is before the draft, and I said, I don't
- 0:40Speaker 1: know if like Caleb Downs fell to the Cowboys, and
- 0:44Speaker 1: he did. He did, Yeah, he did, so obviously the
- 0:47Speaker 1: Cowboys get Downs and then later Malachi Lawrence, the edge
- 0:50Speaker 1: rusher in the first round. What do you think of
- 0:53Speaker 1: these two guys?
- 0:54Speaker 2: Well, we know Christian Parker is now there DC and
- 0:56Speaker 2: he comes, you know, from the Eagles where there's the
- 0:58Speaker 2: vic fan Joe school. So one of the things you
- 1:01Speaker 2: really want, and that defense is safeties that are really
- 1:04Speaker 2: smart and savvy. Because you start all out with that
- 1:06Speaker 2: quarter structure, but you do a lot off of that,
- 1:09Speaker 2: so your safeties have to be really smart and aware.
- 1:12Speaker 2: And Caleb Downs, you know, besides the physical traits, that's
- 1:15Speaker 2: probably you know what he is. He's just a really smart, aware,
- 1:20Speaker 2: savvy player sees things well. We all know that from
- 1:23Speaker 2: everything that we've heard probably and read and from and
- 1:26Speaker 2: personally from conversations, is that he just killed the pre
- 1:30Speaker 2: draft process with how he you know, talked about the
- 1:33Speaker 2: game and talked about each team's defense when he went
- 1:36Speaker 2: to visit each team. So you know, it's it's a
- 1:39Speaker 2: really really good pick. He'll be a Day one starter. Uh.
- 1:45Speaker 3: The thing that Greg when we look at the Cowboys
- 1:48Speaker 3: is that you know, they've had problems on defense, discipline, tackling,
- 1:52Speaker 3: all sorts of things. But to me, getting a guy
- 1:55Speaker 3: like Caleb Downs, it was such a good football player. Yeah,
- 2:00Speaker 3: you've you've talked about it before, like Russian cover, you
- 2:03Speaker 3: have to be good on the back end as well.
- 2:05Speaker 3: You got to tackle. Two safeties have to tackle these days,
- 2:07Speaker 3: and he's good at that one. You got, you got
- 2:09Speaker 3: you gotta fill it. To me, this is a foundation
- 2:12Speaker 3: player where you could feel, you know what, we've got
- 2:13Speaker 3: one here.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Yeah, the only thing, if you want to nick pick
- 2:16Speaker 2: is you wouldn't say he's an exceptional, superlative athlete. But
- 2:20Speaker 2: he's just a really good football player. And like I said,
- 2:23Speaker 2: he'll start from day one. And then you go to Lawrence,
- 2:26Speaker 2: who was a player I really liked. And he's got
- 2:28Speaker 2: good size. He's six y four plus over two hundred
- 2:31Speaker 2: and fifty pounds. He can play four three D n
- 2:35Speaker 2: you know. I think that he showed both a desirable
- 2:38Speaker 2: combination of some strength and power. He could knock back.
- 2:42Speaker 2: He had some knock back power, he could redirect. I
- 2:46Speaker 2: thought that he showed some counter moves as a pass rusher,
- 2:49Speaker 2: that's one thing you always look for. A lot of
- 2:51Speaker 2: guys can win with their initial move. But if they
- 2:53Speaker 2: can win with with their initial move, which will happen
- 2:56Speaker 2: in the NFL, what's next. You know a lot of
- 2:58Speaker 2: a lot of edge pass rushers come in the league
- 3:01Speaker 2: and they have to learn what's next. He had a
- 3:03Speaker 2: pretty good feel for that. I thought he had enough bend,
- 3:07Speaker 2: enough flexibility to clear the edge and flatten his rush
- 3:11Speaker 2: path without impacting his burst and closing speed. I thought
- 3:14Speaker 2: he was a really good prospect. It did not surprise
- 3:16Speaker 2: me that he got into the first round. You know,
- 3:19Speaker 2: he's he was one of those guys that I didn't
- 3:22Speaker 2: know much about. Watched his tape and thought, oh, I
- 3:24Speaker 2: kind of like this guy.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Yeah, and what made about his college coach now being
- 3:28Speaker 1: the defensive line coach for the Cowboys. So the familiarity
- 3:31Speaker 1: of that scheme there.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Well, they're going to thirty four member Christian Parker's coming in,
- 3:36Speaker 3: so they're going to go to Fangio. Yep, he'll be
- 3:39Speaker 3: a stand on bed show, which.
- 3:41Speaker 2: He can be.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Right, He's going to have to be because that's what
- 3:43Speaker 3: they're doing, you know. But Jeff, it's interesting. They're going
- 3:47Speaker 3: to this new new defense and typically you want to
- 3:50Speaker 3: have guys who fit the scheme. It's gonna be interesting
- 3:53Speaker 3: to see how Lawrence because there was a knock on him.
- 3:56Speaker 3: He's very talented, but you need to see from a
- 4:02Speaker 3: game out came out basis with him. So guy's the
- 4:05Speaker 3: first round pick, he's got to play early, Like that's
- 4:07Speaker 3: the responsibility when you drafted player the first round, and
- 4:11Speaker 3: you know their edge their edge group. Despite having a
- 4:12Speaker 3: lot of them last year, they didn't get the pass.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Now they didn't get it done. So look, Adam just now,
- 4:17Speaker 2: did he drafted him in the first round. He's gonna
- 4:20Speaker 2: be from day one. He's gonna line up as a starter.
- 4:22Speaker 2: He's gonna have to play himself out of that. You know.
- 4:24Speaker 2: If he's not good enough, he's going to line up
- 4:26Speaker 2: with the first team. Yeah.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Now this edge group, Greg, because we're gonna get into
- 4:30Speaker 1: their next guy. And they picked it starts. It looks
- 4:32Speaker 1: pretty deep and talented. Now, Ezerraku, Adam had a surgery, right,
- 4:36Speaker 1: he's got to come back.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Yeah, but their hope is he'll be ready for training
- 4:39Speaker 3: caple to see.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Yeah. But so so let's just I mean, he'll play
- 4:42Speaker 1: this season. And you know, he was the second round pick.
- 4:45Speaker 1: So they trade for Shaun Gary, they draft Malick Hi Lawrence,
- 4:48Speaker 1: and then in the third round they go get a
- 4:50Speaker 1: kid from Michigan who I think you liked, right, just
- 4:52Speaker 1: Shan Baram.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Yeah. Now the question is are they going to play
- 4:55Speaker 2: him on the edge or are they going to play
- 4:56Speaker 2: him at stack backer? Because two years ago in Michigan
- 5:00Speaker 2: he was a stack backer and this year he was
- 5:02Speaker 2: played on the edge. He's an explosive athlete. Bar him.
- 5:06Speaker 2: You know again, I haven't heard you know, what they're
- 5:09Speaker 2: going to do with them. So I don't know the
- 5:10Speaker 2: answer to that. But you know, uh, I thought at stackbacker,
- 5:15Speaker 2: and like I said, I did him for two years.
- 5:17Speaker 2: So it's so I've seen him play both positions. He's
- 5:21Speaker 2: he's a guy you know that I that I really
- 5:24Speaker 2: thought is just going to get better and better if
- 5:26Speaker 2: you kicked them on the edge. But I don't, you know,
- 5:28Speaker 2: like I said, I don't, I don't know what they're
- 5:31Speaker 2: gonna do with him. I mean, I mean, you guys
- 5:32Speaker 2: heard it all.
- 5:34Speaker 1: It sounded like they were talking about both inside or outside.
- 5:38Speaker 1: You know, I was just reading Tea leaves and thinking
- 5:41Speaker 1: maybe Parker was looking for his version of a sim
- 5:44Speaker 1: pressure guy like Nikobe Deem where he's an inside backer,
- 5:47Speaker 1: but he'll be the fourth rusher, you know, whenever they
- 5:51Speaker 1: want to go to their sim packages.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Because don't forget if they're going to go with the
- 5:54Speaker 2: five to two is their base front. You know, he
- 5:57Speaker 2: certainly can line up on the outside. I mean, he's
- 5:59Speaker 2: he's two ford. But you know, think of the Eagles
- 6:01Speaker 2: with Nolan Smith. You know who's right around there. You know,
- 6:04Speaker 2: Barhm six three and a half two forty you know,
- 6:06Speaker 2: he doesn't have the arm lane you'd ideally like for
- 6:09Speaker 2: that kind of player, So it's very possible they could
- 6:12Speaker 2: play him as a stackbacker. Yeah. I know.
- 6:14Speaker 3: A scout that has an area told me that he
- 6:17Speaker 3: this is it's all about projection with him, because yeah,
- 6:20Speaker 3: he's gonna have to play one position and as an
- 6:23Speaker 3: edge rusher. He said, he's got a long way to go.
- 6:25Speaker 3: You see the tools in his body. He's explosive. Yes,
- 6:29Speaker 3: he wants to see further development. He needs more time.
- 6:32Speaker 3: And the good thing is if they're gonna play him
- 6:33Speaker 3: at edge, they have enough players now. They're like, they're
- 6:36Speaker 3: gonna have plenty of guys that could play in front
- 6:38Speaker 3: of them. But there's something here. I mean, there's definitely
- 6:42Speaker 3: something with this player.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, don't forget you know Houston and Sam Williams.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I mean, those guys contributed at times. Williams had the injury,
- 6:49Speaker 1: but they've got a stable of guys that if three workout,
- 6:52Speaker 1: that's pretty good for them.
- 6:53Speaker 2: I mean, it wouldn't surprise me if he starts off,
- 6:57Speaker 2: and again I don't know this, it wouldn't surprise me
- 6:58Speaker 2: if he starts off. It's for this reason because they
- 7:03Speaker 2: have they have edge players now and they have her
- 7:06Speaker 2: Shawn Garry, so you know, I think he's gonna start out.
- 7:09Speaker 2: You know, they also traded for de Winters to play
- 7:12Speaker 2: stackpacker over shown his back. They like him. Shamar James,
- 7:17Speaker 2: who they drafted last year out of Florida, got meaningful
- 7:19Speaker 2: snaps last year. I don't know what they think of him,
- 7:23Speaker 2: but it wouldn't surprise me if he starts off at
- 7:25Speaker 2: stackbacker for them.
- 7:27Speaker 1: All right, very very curious to hear about your thoughts
- 7:31Speaker 1: on their fourth round picks, because I know you liked
- 7:33Speaker 1: one of their guys a lot, and as I did,
- 7:35Speaker 1: the cornerback for Florida, Devin Moore. And also they picked up,
- 7:40Speaker 1: surprisingly to me, offensive tackle out of Penn State Drew Shelton.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Who I did not particularly like on tape. And I
- 7:46Speaker 2: don't know you, I know you watch Penn State every week.
- 7:49Speaker 2: I think he struggles.
- 7:51Speaker 1: He struggled at Penn State. He wasn't consistent the starter.
- 7:54Speaker 2: There, no, no, I mean I again, you know sometimes
- 7:57Speaker 2: that's a fourth round pick, right, yes, so you start
- 8:01Speaker 2: to get to the fourth round, you see him more
- 8:04Speaker 2: as when you get to old alignment in the fourth round. Sure,
- 8:07Speaker 2: if they're good enough, you know they can start, no question,
- 8:10Speaker 2: but I think you start to get into the point
- 8:12Speaker 2: where you see him as kind of a rotational guy
- 8:14Speaker 2: and you can teach him and coach him and maybe
- 8:16Speaker 2: down the road. But I thought he really had a
- 8:19Speaker 2: hard time in pass protection against good you know, pass rushers.
- 8:23Speaker 2: And if you're shaking your head because you know that's
- 8:26Speaker 2: the case, you watch Penn State. I remember, I forget
- 8:29Speaker 2: who was against because I watched so many Penn State
- 8:32Speaker 2: games because of IONI I probably watched eight or nine
- 8:34Speaker 2: Penn State games. So I saw a Shelt and a
- 8:36Speaker 2: Ton but and I can't remember what game. I didn't
- 8:40Speaker 2: make the note of what game because normally I don't
- 8:42Speaker 2: do that when a guy is bad. But like early on,
- 8:47Speaker 2: he just like the first ten plays, like four of them,
- 8:50Speaker 2: he just got beat. Like you know, he wasn't really
- 8:54Speaker 2: good in past pro.
- 8:55Speaker 1: And I believe Greg he arrived at Penn State is
- 8:58Speaker 1: a big time recruit too.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Was he was actually a tight end to start his
- 9:01Speaker 3: football career.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Then he's from.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Here, very athletic.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Yeah, from the Jersey area.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I'll tell you in a sec. Let's see,
- 9:09Speaker 2: he came out of Downing Town, yeah.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Yeah, actually, yeah, actually, p I'm sorry. Yeah, downtown is
- 9:15Speaker 3: Chester County. Well, I know he's from the area. I
- 9:17Speaker 3: could remember, well he was.
- 9:18Speaker 2: He was a big lunger at that you know, where
- 9:21Speaker 2: you bend at the waist, and that's that's a big
- 9:24Speaker 2: problem when you get to the NFL. But anyway, getting
- 9:28Speaker 2: to Devin Moore, and it's funny that you you texted
- 9:30Speaker 2: me he actually ran a four or five forty nine
- 9:32Speaker 2: of four to six.
- 9:34Speaker 1: But Devin sometimes the scouts, Yeah, I specifically asked and
- 9:38Speaker 1: he told me for six, so maybe they clocked him differently.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Out of Devin Moore is a fascinating guy to me
- 9:43Speaker 2: because he's he's been hurt a lot, and that's the
- 9:46Speaker 2: big deal. Now. You know, the guys who've been hurt
- 9:48Speaker 2: a lot, you, unless they have just special special talent,
- 9:51Speaker 2: are not usually high picks. They don't usually go in
- 9:53Speaker 2: the top sixty. But More's six y three plus it's
- 9:56Speaker 2: a position of need for the Cowboys. I really like
- 10:00Speaker 2: his traits a lot. I mean, I'm very curious. Maybe
- 10:03Speaker 2: I'll be dead wrong, but I'm very curious to see
- 10:06Speaker 2: how that plays out, because I mean, right now, if
- 10:09Speaker 2: we start the season now, who are their outside corners?
- 10:14Speaker 2: Bland Well, they they signed Kobe Durant from the Rams,
- 10:19Speaker 2: who you know, obviously the Rams played him outside corner,
- 10:22Speaker 2: but he wasn't a full time starter, So you know,
- 10:25Speaker 2: I think there's probably a competition there for the for
- 10:28Speaker 2: the outside corner position.
- 10:29Speaker 3: They're wide open a corner. I mean, they need they
- 10:32Speaker 3: need help at the corner position. You know.
- 10:34Speaker 2: The other issue is is Caleb down is going to
- 10:37Speaker 2: be their slot because he can do that because they
- 10:40Speaker 2: did sign Jaylen Thompson from Arizona and he's a pretty
- 10:43Speaker 2: good football player. So now Jalen Thompson, they still have
- 10:46Speaker 2: Malik Hooker. They signed PJ. Lock from Denver who's played
- 10:49Speaker 2: a lot of snaps for Denver. So I think Downs
- 10:52Speaker 2: is gonna end up being their slot corner.
- 10:54Speaker 1: I mean, I think there's no question that with all
- 10:56Speaker 1: the moves the Cowboys made through the out the all season,
- 10:58Speaker 1: they're deeper on defense and they've been in which they
- 11:01Speaker 1: needed to be. They're more t a but they're also deeper.
- 11:04Speaker 1: They've got more optionality, so Christian Parker's got something.
- 11:06Speaker 2: To work with.
- 11:09Speaker 3: You thought Blandos better as a nickel, right.
- 11:12Speaker 2: I did, But I think with the players they have,
- 11:15Speaker 2: he's gonna play on the outside.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Okay, interesting, All right, let's move on to the Commanders.
- 11:20Speaker 1: We're gonna have Greg evaluate three of their picks, starting
- 11:23Speaker 1: with first rounder Sunny Styles. Very curious. How how you'll
- 11:27Speaker 1: think Styles fitting into dan Quinn's defense or I should
- 11:31Speaker 1: say Deronte Jones defense now right?
- 11:33Speaker 2: Well, yeah, because now, I mean it's he comes from Minnesota.
- 11:37Speaker 2: It's going to be interesting. And which is we I
- 11:39Speaker 2: don't know the answer to this. What is going to
- 11:42Speaker 2: be the mix? Is Jones gonna have free reign to
- 11:45Speaker 2: run what he wants to run, which I would think
- 11:47Speaker 2: would be, you know, pretty much similar to where he
- 11:50Speaker 2: came from with with Brian Klories. Or is dan Quinn,
- 11:53Speaker 2: who's a defensive guy, who are going to be a
- 11:55Speaker 2: mix and match.
- 11:56Speaker 3: I'd heard Quinn wanted to give up the the play calling.
- 11:59Speaker 3: He want wanted to He just wants to get a
- 12:02Speaker 3: better overview with football team. So he's going to hand
- 12:04Speaker 3: it off to him. And I'm it's gonna be whatever
- 12:07Speaker 3: more whatever Jones takes from.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Well Jones, then if he's gonna run you know a
- 12:12Speaker 2: lot of what you know Flora's ran, then Styles in
- 12:16Speaker 2: that defense could really become kind of a multi positional
- 12:19Speaker 2: kind of player, because there were times in Ohio State
- 12:22Speaker 2: he lined up on the edge as well. So you
- 12:25Speaker 2: know you're dealing with a guy that's six five, two
- 12:27Speaker 2: forty five, you know, who's kind of a freakish athlete,
- 12:30Speaker 2: so you know he'll be The moves they made too
- 12:34Speaker 2: suggests to me that they'll probably be more of a
- 12:37Speaker 2: Flora's defense because Leo Chanal is one of those guys.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Frankie Louvo's one of those guys. I mean, think of
- 12:44Speaker 2: what Andrew van Ginko was in Minnesota. You know, Shanal
- 12:47Speaker 2: and Louvu sort of fit that that mold Nick Cross
- 12:51Speaker 2: I thought was a really good signing. He's a really
- 12:54Speaker 2: good safety. So you know, styles, I would imagine because
- 13:00Speaker 2: of everything you hear about the young man, he's going
- 13:02Speaker 2: to be a day one starter.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Uh yeah, and listen, I think we all know that
- 13:06Speaker 1: there's there's no coach who does a better job of
- 13:08Speaker 1: getting free rushers at the quarterback than Brian Flores. So
- 13:11Speaker 1: if Deurante Jones can get free rides for sunny styles,
- 13:15Speaker 1: just watch out quarterbacks because that'll be pretty dangerous.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Yeah, and you look at all. The They have major
- 13:21Speaker 3: problems with the edge last year due to injury, but
- 13:23Speaker 3: you now ad Dafaielway Chanell can rush the passer. Styles
- 13:26Speaker 3: is great. Talk about chasing a Mata who's brought up
- 13:30Speaker 3: for depth. They're getting Whys and Armstrong back from major injuries.
- 13:33Speaker 3: But now the Commanders actually have depth at edge. They're
- 13:38Speaker 3: much better at linebacker now with Chanal, with styles, Frankie
- 13:44Speaker 3: Luvu could rush the passer.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it looks like now they can finally use Frankie
- 13:48Speaker 1: Luvu to your point, at him the right way and
- 13:50Speaker 1: not have to play him like in coverage and play well.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Frankie Lugu was an edge rusher in their dying package
- 13:56Speaker 2: the last two years, right, So I don't know if
- 13:58Speaker 2: they'll continue to do that. But because obviously they've got
- 14:01Speaker 2: Away now and they've got Chase on so I don't know.
- 14:04Speaker 2: You know, again, we don't know this stuff until things
- 14:06Speaker 2: start to develop. But Adam's points correct. Now they've got
- 14:09Speaker 2: a lot of options, all right.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Then in the third round they took the Clemson wide
- 14:14Speaker 1: receiver Antonio Williams. Yeah, yeah, I feel like he wasn't
- 14:20Speaker 1: talked about enough by the mainstream.
- 14:22Speaker 2: YEP. I could couldn't agree more. See, there's a perfect
- 14:25Speaker 2: example of a guy that you have no idea how
- 14:27Speaker 2: teams thought. I bet teams liked him because.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Oh I do. Yeah, Jeff and I did a show
- 14:32Speaker 3: for the draft, and this is one receiver's coach. One
- 14:36Speaker 3: receivers coach told me, he goes he's my top like
- 14:40Speaker 3: not first round pick receiver. He I guess he the
- 14:43Speaker 3: draft process, he met with him, super smart, detailed cares.
- 14:48Speaker 3: You just want this guy in your football team. So, gohad,
- 14:50Speaker 3: what did his tape look like to you?
- 14:51Speaker 2: Greg loved his tape, you know, predominant slot receiver in college.
- 14:55Speaker 2: But again that doesn't mean that's what he'll do in
- 14:57Speaker 2: the NFL. But that's what he was. He's natural quick,
- 15:00Speaker 2: He's incredibly loose. He's very fluid. He's got a gliding
- 15:04Speaker 2: feel to his game. I thought his route quickness and
- 15:07Speaker 2: his separation quickness were high level. He had that sudden
- 15:10Speaker 2: burst out of his brakes, which is exactly what you want.
- 15:14Speaker 2: You wouldn't call him explosive, you know, in terms of
- 15:16Speaker 2: like verticality. So so you see him and you go, wow,
- 15:20Speaker 2: he's really smooth. Though there's a loose and slippery feel
- 15:23Speaker 2: to him. You know, I really liked him a lot
- 15:28Speaker 2: and I did him less. He was a big, big
- 15:29Speaker 2: time recruit. He was a top one hundred prospect in
- 15:32Speaker 2: the nation. And you know, he led the team in
- 15:35Speaker 2: receptions and yards as a true freshman at Clemson. So
- 15:38Speaker 2: he stepped right in and was a force in college football. Now,
- 15:43Speaker 2: he may be seen by many as a conventional slot
- 15:45Speaker 2: you know, again, we don't know how, you know, how
- 15:48Speaker 2: they're going to run their offense, but I think he
- 15:51Speaker 2: can work outside. You know, he's a pre snap movement
- 15:55Speaker 2: guy and he's all that. But he showed nuance and
- 15:59Speaker 2: subtle in detail as a route runner. He's got that quickness.
- 16:03Speaker 2: I really like Antonio Williams.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Yeah, well, they need him to be a good player,
- 16:07Speaker 1: greg because you know, outside of McLaurin, who needs a
- 16:09Speaker 1: bounce back year, you're banking on guys like Brooks and McCaffrey.
- 16:13Speaker 2: That's tough.
- 16:14Speaker 1: So they really need a playmaker on that offense.
- 16:16Speaker 2: No, No, and he's he's he's one of those guys
- 16:19Speaker 2: that probably is not gonna like he's not gonna you know,
- 16:22Speaker 2: be sixteen yards or reception or anything like that. But
- 16:24Speaker 2: he's just a good football player.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Right, and then their fifth rounder was Josh Joseph.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Yeah. I struggled a bit with him. There were times
- 16:33Speaker 2: I thought that he looked like he could rush the
- 16:35Speaker 2: quarterback from the edge, and then when he played against
- 16:37Speaker 2: good offensive tackles, I thought he just got eaten up.
- 16:40Speaker 2: And that's why it's a fifth round pick, because the
- 16:42Speaker 2: traits are present. Like when he looked good, he was quick,
- 16:47Speaker 2: he was explosive, he had some suddenness to him, and
- 16:50Speaker 2: you felt like, oh, there's a lot to work with there.
- 16:52Speaker 2: But too many times he just got eaten up. You know,
- 16:56Speaker 2: I'm trying to remember, was it against Alabama? You know,
- 16:58Speaker 2: with snaps against proc or you know, and again Proctor
- 17:01Speaker 2: was obviously a high pick, but hey, in the NFL,
- 17:04Speaker 2: that's you know, that's what you're playing against. You know. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 17:10Speaker 2: So I you know, like I said, you watch him
- 17:14Speaker 2: and you think, oh, this guy has a chance. But
- 17:17Speaker 2: too many times I thought he just got stuck. He was,
- 17:20Speaker 2: and I think one reason he was he's very straight
- 17:23Speaker 2: line linear, like there was not a lot of bend.
- 17:26Speaker 2: There was some coarse stiffness to him which limited his
- 17:29Speaker 2: bend in flexibility. So if he couldn't win right away.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Sometimes it just didn't work.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic,
- 17:38Speaker 1: long lines, We've all been there, But when it comes

- 18:28Speaker 1: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans twenty
- 18:32Speaker 1: one and up. All right, let's finish it off with
- 18:35Speaker 1: the giants, Greg and they are getting praised universally for
- 18:39Speaker 1: their top three by everybody except for renowned draft analyst
- 18:42Speaker 1: Malik Neighbors. Everybody else seems to really like their picks
- 18:46Speaker 1: of Rvel Reese in the first round, and then Francis
- 18:50Speaker 1: Mally Noah in this first round, and then Colton Hood
- 18:53Speaker 1: a top corner prospect in the second round.
- 18:56Speaker 2: And so I guess, Mylak Neighbors, did he retire and
- 18:58Speaker 2: move into personnel?
- 19:00Speaker 3: What did he say he was?
- 19:02Speaker 1: He was on like a pod kind of like questioning
- 19:04Speaker 1: why where would fit in the defense with all their
- 19:06Speaker 1: other pastors?
- 19:07Speaker 3: Oh, come on, yeah, yeah, I guess he didn't see
- 19:12Speaker 3: the tape or talk to anyone, but.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Maybe retired moved into personnel. Well I think, well, obviously, look,
- 19:22Speaker 2: you know how I feel about Reese. We've we've discussed him.
- 19:24Speaker 2: I you know, I think he's just a really good player,
- 19:26Speaker 2: and he's twenty years old, so he's only going to
- 19:28Speaker 2: get better and better. Denard Wilson is their new defensive coordinator.
- 19:34Speaker 2: He's he's a nobs guy, Dinard. So I mean it's
- 19:37Speaker 2: going to be really interesting and uh uh and and
- 19:42Speaker 2: now we know what he's going to start at right guard.
- 19:44Speaker 2: I mean, that's that's the bottom line. Because they have.
- 19:47Speaker 2: You know, it'll be interesting if this old line can
- 19:50Speaker 2: stay healthy because if the on line can stay healthy,
- 19:53Speaker 2: ilumin Or and Thomas are solid offensive tackles. You know,
- 19:56Speaker 2: Thomas can be very good. He just hasn't been able
- 19:59Speaker 2: to stay on the field. So Mali Nogan is going
- 20:01Speaker 2: to move into right guard, which myself and other O
- 20:05Speaker 2: line coaches I've spoken to and I know Adam you've
- 20:08Speaker 2: done that as well, feel that he could be an
- 20:10Speaker 2: all Pro offensive guard. You know. So we'll see how
- 20:13Speaker 2: they feel about the two of those guys. But you know,
- 20:16Speaker 2: it's you know, obviously they feel that he's a plug
- 20:19Speaker 2: and play guy, which he will be, you know, And
- 20:23Speaker 2: then they drafted duck fields and Notre Dame receiver as
- 20:27Speaker 2: well in the third round. See, I think there's nothing
- 20:32Speaker 2: not to like about him except he's not fast. But man,
- 20:35Speaker 2: he's competitive, he catches everything. He's really long. He's just
- 20:40Speaker 2: not fast. So how do you factor that in with
- 20:43Speaker 2: a guy like that? You know, I mean, can he
- 20:45Speaker 2: be a boundary X given that he's six', FOUR i,
- 20:48Speaker 2: mean neighbors can line up. Anywhere you, Know neighbors is,
- 20:50Speaker 2: great so he can line up. Anywhere probably you know
- 20:53Speaker 2: two under their eight ar signings at receiver Are moodey In.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Austin but they're not, superstars but THEY'RE nfl. Receivers and you,
- 21:00Speaker 2: know you could probably make the point that The giants
- 21:03Speaker 2: probably haven't had a lot of those guys in recent.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Years those GUYS arefl. Receivers, yeah don't.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Forget they brought in Likely, Isaiah like they still Have Theo,
- 21:14Speaker 1: johnson who's you, know got talent as you, Know jeff
- 21:16Speaker 1: being A Penn, stater you, know he's not a.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Stiff he's got some. Talent.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Yeah, YEAH i think they have a more diverse That
- 21:22Speaker 1: we were saying this about The eagles, too but The
- 21:24Speaker 1: giants have a more diverse set of weapons now to
- 21:26Speaker 1: the use and then good.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Running oh, yeah and probably the key to The giants
- 21:31Speaker 2: in their entire season will Be Patrick. Ricard oh it's,
- 21:35Speaker 2: right that's.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Right with with the card coming, In, yeah that's, right
- 21:39Speaker 3: that's right as a. Fullback, yeah they're gonna actually a fullback.
- 21:42Speaker 2: So they can line up with a lot of different personnel,
- 21:43Speaker 2: packages which is probably what they. Want.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Yeah one thing ON rfl Race Greg so obviously he's
- 21:50Speaker 3: a linebacker, first but it could do edge he's gonna
- 21:54Speaker 3: play next to guy you did not like his, Tape
- 21:56Speaker 3: Tremaine edmonds last. SEASON i mean you were very.
- 21:58Speaker 2: HONEST i did, not AND i think that there are
- 22:01Speaker 2: others who don't as. Well let's leave it at. That
- 22:04Speaker 2: okay in THE.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Nfl, okay, Okay but what Could rees do from an
- 22:08Speaker 3: inside backer? Perspective in the?
- 22:10Speaker 2: Look the bottom line is At Penn state under excuse,
- 22:12Speaker 2: me At Ohio state Under, matchatricia he played almost an
- 22:16Speaker 2: equal number of snaps stacked and on the. Edge he
- 22:19Speaker 2: can be a great. STACKBACKER i mean, AGAIN i loved
- 22:23Speaker 2: him as an age rusher down the, road AND i
- 22:25Speaker 2: think he could be a, dominant dominant. Player doesn't mean
- 22:27Speaker 2: that won't, happen but right now they see him as
- 22:30Speaker 2: a stack. Backer and by the, way With edmunds And,
- 22:34Speaker 2: reese that is tremendous size inside at. Stackbacker both guys
- 22:38Speaker 2: are over sixty. Four you, Know edmunds is not what he,
- 22:41Speaker 2: was but he's you, know he's going to. Start And
- 22:44Speaker 2: reese is a truly explosive. Athlete he's very good at.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Stackbacker it's not that he's only good on the. Edge
- 22:50Speaker 2: he's very good at stackbacker as. Well so you, know believe,
- 22:54Speaker 2: ME i commend The giants if that's where they want
- 22:56Speaker 2: to play. Him line them up there from day one
- 22:58Speaker 2: when you start your mini, camp WHICH i know starts very,
- 23:01Speaker 2: soon let him really learn that from the you, know THE,
- 23:05Speaker 2: nfl and let them let him. Go and then down
- 23:08Speaker 2: the road if you feel, like, hey this guy can
- 23:10Speaker 2: really rush the, quarterback you, know kind of the guy
- 23:12Speaker 2: that's lost in the Whole giants deal is Cave On.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Thibodeaux you, know you, know he hasn't really turned out to,
- 23:18Speaker 2: be you, know a top five pick in terms of, production.
- 23:21Speaker 3: RIGHT i Then Colton Hood Greg, Finally.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Colt HUD's good. Player you, KNOW i liked him a.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Lot he's, long he's, athletic he's. PHYSICAL i think he'll
- 23:31Speaker 2: eventually be a starting corner for, them because right, now
- 23:35Speaker 2: if you look at their starting, CORNERS i assume a
- 23:38Speaker 2: debo will start at ONE. G they've Got, newsom who
- 23:42Speaker 2: has also played a ton of. Slot, Now Drew phillips
- 23:45Speaker 2: is not a bad. Slot but If Colton hood develops,
- 23:48Speaker 2: quickly and we don't you, know, again that's an unknown
- 23:51Speaker 2: as we speak, today but If hood develops, quickly it
- 23:53Speaker 2: would not surprise. Me if the outside corners became a
- 23:55Speaker 2: debo And hood And newsome moved inside where he's played
- 23:58Speaker 2: a lot in THE nfl and his and is, good
- 24:01Speaker 2: good at.
- 24:01Speaker 1: It, no and Then drew would be a. DIMEBACK i guess.
- 24:05Speaker 3: YEAH i, thought, yeah tell you what THIS Nfc east
- 24:10Speaker 3: it's gonna be because pretty, interesting so much, change, chef
- 24:13Speaker 3: and this is really fun Hearing greg talk about all these.
- 24:17Speaker 3: PLAYERS i Know eagle fans don't want to hear, this
- 24:20Speaker 3: BUT i think that in, FACT i know the division's
- 24:22Speaker 3: improved how.
- 24:23Speaker 1: MUCH i mean it starts with, coaching. Right you Get
- 24:25Speaker 1: parker with The, cowboys you Get Deronte jones with The,
- 24:27Speaker 1: commanders you Get hardball with The, giants and and all
- 24:31Speaker 1: the guys he brought in. There there's THERE'S i think
- 24:34Speaker 1: there's some better coaching which is gonna lead to most
- 24:36Speaker 1: likely better development uh of players in the.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Division and we will bring you.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Back of, course YOU wi will always do OUR Nfc
- 24:48Speaker 1: east preview as we get into the, summer and you
- 24:52Speaker 1: always break down and tape for us phenomenally for. That
- 24:55Speaker 1: but that is gonna do it for this season's worth
- 24:58Speaker 1: of intel With Greg. Cosell thanks again To greg For Adam.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Kaplan I'm Jeff. Mosher you've been watching The intel With
- 25:04Speaker 1: Greg cosell on inside the burd
