- 0:00Alright.
- 0:00I wanna talk a little smack about training and development.
- 0:03in I've been in the construction industry since 19 95, and I have heard so many times that the leader's responsibility is to train their replacement.
- 0:14I am training my replacement.
- 0:16My goal is to make myself irrelevant in all of these kinda really cutesy, uh, chest poundy ideas.
- 0:23And the truth is, they ain't doing nothing to train their replacement.
- 0:26It's kind of like Throwing them in the water and and just letting them figure out how to swim.
- 0:32the conversations and understanding around what the core competencies are, the process and method in which that is delivered is random, is usually done in an emergency Situation when somebody's promoting or quitting.
- 0:45and so just because you show up to work and, like, do your job and assign tasks to people does not mean you're developing the capabilities in those people.
- 0:58And so the question to you is, when you hear or say those words, I'm training my replacement, What are the steps?
- 1:06What are the core competencies, the transferable skills that you are grooming and developing in your direct reports, or you are you just talking smack?
- 1:18Be cool, and we'll talk at you next time.
- 1:21Peace.
