Latest / Connor with Honor: AI, Real Estate and Real Life / Lose 90 Percent: Who Really Pays for the AI Transition?
Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Now let's get back to this transition period.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: If you have somebody that's got$100 million, they're an early venture capitalist, they're people that are all talking about how great AI is.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: They have their own favorite company, they have a loan frame investment portfolio, and they tell you, please, please, please go put all your money in these same investments I have, whatever it may be.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: And of course, we love to follow people.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: We're going to be the cheerleader.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Oh boy, boy, I'm going to go do that same thing so I can be just like them and rich like them.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: They're not going to tell you when they're pulling out.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: They're not going to tell you when the jig is up for them, when they've heard something and they say, you know what, maybe it's not good.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: When they've seen some sign, we're going to stay until the better end, we're going to stay until it ruins us.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: And maybe it won't.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: Maybe that'll be the other side of it.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: Maybe AI is going to be so great that it's going to just keep going and going and going.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: And I would hope that's the case.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: And that's something else to consider.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: When you're hearing people talk about how it's going to destroy everything, if artificial intelligence is really what they say it is, if it really is out of the box on all levels, if it really can solve cancer and these other problems, which we'll know soon enough, if in fact it can, then it should be able to fix all of the middle.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: None of the middle, none of the bottom class or the middle lower class or the middle class or the middle upper class or any of the classes should have to go through any pain or strife or danger at the development of artificial intelligence, at it coming into its own.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: We should be fine.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: We should in fact be better than fine.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Electricity should come down to nothing because they'll be able to put up solar arrays in the middle of non-populated areas and have that hooked into the power grid and everything protected by AI, of course, I would assume, because there's not going to be any better, higher level of protection.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: And then the whole world would maybe come to some kind of agreement, like we did in the nuclear, the nuclear issue back in the day, where it's kind of mutually assured self-destruction.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: We have our super AI here and they have their super super intelligence over there.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: And, you know, we're going to have those communicate with each other.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: Now, that's if there is truly not just one.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: And that's a problem I keep rolling around with the few marbles I have left up here.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: I'm wondering, what if, what if there is only one?
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: What if Anthropic finds it?
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: What if ChatGPT finds it or discovers it?
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: What if Google is the one?
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: What if Microsoft happens to win?
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: What if it's a Chinese company?
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: They have to find, they happen to be able to tie together recursive self-improvement with the current technology or develop a better technology which pushes them into a superintelligence world where they have the power at that moment to say, I don't want there to be anybody else that can catch us, Mr.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: or Mrs.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: Superintelligence.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: Nobody.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: If Elon Musk himself discovered the key, would he do that?
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: Or would he say, no, it's not right, we're going to be fair.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: But what if he doesn't do that?
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: And the next person in line that discovers it is, and they do that.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: So then because he didn't, that create the second company that comes along that figures it out and does it, then they create the moat.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: And the moat is what people talk about.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: The moat is the that place where the sharks with lasers on their heads actually operate.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: This is that place that keeps everybody else out.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: This is in some cases what regulation does.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Not that regulation isn't a good thing.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: I don't know if there's ever a lot of cases of regulation actually slowing advancement down.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Regulation has safety protocols put in place.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: But in some cases, regulation is a good, a good moat created to stop other companies advancing.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: See, the people that are at the top currently, if there's regulation put on, how much really will there be and who's going to do the enforcing?
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: And is it not like nuclear, it's not like nuclear in the way of a radioactive isotope being able to be found by scanning using uh a Geiger counter, for example.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: You you would probably, if you're in somebody's office and and you're investigating whether they have radioactive material because they're building radioactive weapons, is if that's what's required.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: And I'm being very loose with this, but let's say that is what's required, and there's no way to shield it.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: Well, go ahead and give us that.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: There's no lead box that can hold it, and they have a device that they can go and scan the room, they'll know within a moment if the person's lying or not lying, right?
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: So they'll be able to come and scan the room.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: So you have it.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: I don't think there's any kind of a measure to be able to make a determination whether somebody has stopped their forward progression with regard to building out a superintelligence.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: I don't think.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: Because the superintelligence, I know that we see these massive data centers, and that's a pretty good sign that somebody's building something like a superintelligence, but that's only there because we lack the technological wherewithal to do it without that.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: And there's probably some answer out there that we're not aware of to be able to move forward without massive data centers, I guess.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: But I don't know if we would ever know.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: It's like a cure for cancer.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: I don't know if it's ever happened or there ever was one, but you know the rumor.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: The whole conspiracy theory is if they release it, it would crash everything, so they can't.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: Or people that did develop it and figure it out, they're no longer around to be able to say, hey, I figured it out because they were found out rather quickly.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: These are all conspiracy theories.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: I know if none of them are true, but you've heard them just like I've heard them.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: And I don't hold a lot of credence to a lot of things, and it's very difficult for me to trust anything, even myself, because we all look at everything from our own biased viewpoint, and maybe that's a good lesson as well.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: But watching as they continue to move forward, it just brings back that pause to me, wondering what is this going to look like if it does hit this overall universal abundance and how difficult is it going to be to get there?
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: Because we're based on a monetary type society and where capitalism reigns, it almost feels like AI would be the great equalizer if in fact it was given enough authority to equalize everyone.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: And then what happens to the people that are worth trillions of dollars or billions of dollars or millions of dollars?
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: Is there a difference or should there be?
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: And this feels a lot like potential communism, if in fact that's the case.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: And that doesn't seem like it's worked.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: Socialism either, it doesn't seem like it's worked, but maybe I'm wrong on that and haven't read enough books or seen enough case studies.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: But it seems like capitalism is a great place, unless you don't have any money.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: But then there's programs that might help you, but I don't know if those run out.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: And if this is going to be a little bit rough for people, well, who is that going to be rough for?
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: I don't know if it's going to be rough for the person that has a hundred million but loses ninety percent of that.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: They still have 10 million left.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: There's the math.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: But you have a person that has a thousand dollars, they lose 90% of it.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: Now they have a hundred.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: 10 million buys a lot more bread than a hundred dollars.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: I don't know whose pain is greater.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: Now, they do talk about this, but it's not much.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: They're too busy patting themselves on the back and being excited about some new longevity drug they've discovered that's gonna help them live a few generations.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: Maybe that'll all trickle down to all of us too.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: But that's another question.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: Because if we're living two and three hundred years, I don't know if that's gonna be great for the people that want to stay in power.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: Of course, they're gonna be able to live that long as well because the money's already baked into it.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: I've known people that have been very fortunate having enough wherewithal and enough money to be able to pay for the best treatment and they're able to hold on.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: Now, I don't know if it's really because of the treatment or whether it's just not their time yet.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: And anybody else that were had the money or didn't have the money were to be able to survive the same way.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: I don't know if any of that's true.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: But it seems like in the future, with regard to AI and technology, money's gonna be the game changer.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: I don't think they're gonna offer this to just anybody because it's not like a necessity, a necessity.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: If they are able to conquer death, maybe conquering death isn't something offered to everybody.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: And maybe we wouldn't want to anyway.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: But that's gonna come down to each individual choice.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: And if the person has the choice, they might want to live forever, but they're gonna need the means to do that.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: And then what's that going to look like?
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: There's so much.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: My my takeaway from all of this, your takeaway maybe should be make sure you investigate everything you see, make sure you look into what you're hearing out there.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: More and more people are talking about it, but there's still a lot of people that aren't even paying attention to it because they're too busy, you know, going to their peachy job.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: And I understand that.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: But this is something that's going to affect that job.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: It's going to affect you at some point.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: Because if they're really able to bring on somebody that only costs$100 a month versus what they're paying you, and somebody, I mean some entity like AI, would they?
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: Maybe they wouldn't.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: Maybe there'll be enough rules put in place that says if you're going to replace one of your employees with artificial intelligence, then you're going to have to continue to pay that employee because artificial intelligence will be able to do three or four or five times the work and production of that singular employee because it gets to work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, doesn't take time off, doesn't get sick, doesn't sue, doesn't do any of this stuff, and it's going to be there all the time.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: And if it truly is that person's replacement, then of course you keep paying the person.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: Maybe that should be the rule.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: But who's going to agree with that when we're trying to, you know, spend money on the stock market?
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: Maybe the people themselves that are making the money through services and products will understand that if they do start to get rid of the labor, the labor is what buys their stuff.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: They're not going to have anybody to buy it.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: But maybe robots will buy it.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: I heard that the other day.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: And if they make an entire society out of robots, robots working, robots making, building their own kids.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: I don't I don't even know how that would work.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: But then now the robots themselves are buying the things, using credits or whatever it is to buy what people are producing.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: You still have the humans at the top.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't like that.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: Maybe you don't either.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: Let me know what you think.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: Please, I would love to explore this with you, of course.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: And uh I'm Connor with Honor.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: If you want to uh see more about me, you can just go to Connorwithhonor.com and I'm happy to answer any questions you have.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: And of course, please talk to me in the comments.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: Let me know what you think.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: Please communicate.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: Let's do this human to human.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: Let's figure out maybe a better way.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: And I have transition moonshot.com.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: People are building moonshots to solve lots of other problems.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: Why not build one using AI potentially and a lot of smart humans to be able to make decisions as to what's going to get us all through this hump, if in fact they'll let us get through the hump in the first place?
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: They.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: There's the they.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: So you can figure out who that is, and we will see you in the next one.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: Thanks for watching.
