- 8:01[SPEAKER_06]: Democrats are telling you folks it for drum don't obey the rules and uh... was shopping cards what you want to do with those and we had that uh... won't say headlines and that i look at the front page of the paper today two headlines it jumped out at me one was smaller than to run in n y twenty one we know n y twenty one congressional district touches Jefferson County if you live out on river bandage states you're an n y twenty one
- 8:28[SPEAKER_06]: uh... but the headlice a small intern and i imagine how many people look at that had lines of what's a small there's no collective knowledge of what a small one is around here so last name of an assemblyman from john stown to york on the mohawk river
- 8:47[SPEAKER_06]: And that says after his name, our dash, meco, MECO, what's meco?
- 8:52[SPEAKER_06]: Well, that's the hamlet where he lives outside of John's down, but sometimes he's old forms of journalism that we, you know, people just don't know what the hell you're talking about.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_06]: A small one, what the heck's a small one?
- 9:06[SPEAKER_06]: Is that, is that what the Republicans are gonna, will I give us an NY-21?
- 9:10[SPEAKER_06]: Well, I'm gonna have to get used to saying Congressman Jen to be in a guess.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_06]: Sorry, I don't see the North Country voting for a small one.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_06]: Uh, let's see, seven, five, five, twelve, forty, the phone number.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_06]: If you'd like to give us a call to be in.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_06]: The thing to watch with him, though, is he runs as I was a Colonel in the Marines.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_06]: He was in logistics.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_06]: I think it was Lieutenant Colonel.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_06]: Nothing wrong with that.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_06]: He served.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_06]: But back there around 2018, he got in trouble.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_06]: We got arrested.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_06]: it was pleaded down to the nothing but but he was uh... said to be filing uh... phony uh... veterans exemptions on properties he didn't live in so if you're gonna run as mr. colonel i don't know if you want that in your background okay somebody just sent me a uh... no somebody just made a new song christmas in water town
- 10:20[SPEAKER_08]: So thanks for listening, I'm so sweet So let that attention to a little bit Let's have a shower, shower, shower, shower, shower It's Christmas time and what it's all like
- 10:46[SPEAKER_06]: Now, you know, you're listening to that song.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_06]: Point that sounds like a great song, doesn't it?
- 10:51[SPEAKER_06]: Maybe Johnny should play it.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_06]: It's not real.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_06]: It's AI.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_06]: That person singing, it's not real.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_06]: There's nobody playing a piano.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_06]: No, nothing.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_06]: But it all sounds perfect, doesn't it?
- 11:04[SPEAKER_06]: That's the world we're gonna live in.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_06]: That is it, and thanks to our friends over at the water down post for making that up for us.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_06]: And,
- 11:14[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know what to say.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, everything's going to be fake.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_06]: Except for me, I'm the real deal.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_06]: I am the real deal.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_06]: What's news, Johnkey, got today?
- 11:22[SPEAKER_06]: I see they led their top thing on the front.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_06]: Their page was a list of all the cities with strong mayor governance.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_06]: It's at a suggestion that we need that here.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_06]: You know, it's too bad we're sitting there messing around with the ethics violations.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_06]: And we're facing a private, privately, they talk about a 30% tax increase in the spring.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_06]: I don't get caught down, it's still still.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_06]: Still, I don't know.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, boy, I'll tell ya.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_06]: The other headline on the front page of the paper this morning was, Mayor expecting a quick resolution for by the ethics board.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_06]: Who the hell is this ethics board?
- 12:05[SPEAKER_06]: Who are they?
- 12:11[SPEAKER_06]: We know that Steve Jennings is the head of it.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_06]: Grand Poo-Bah, if you will.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_06]: But beyond that, who's on it, I am.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_06]: Does anybody know?
- 12:21[SPEAKER_06]: Do you know?
- 12:23[SPEAKER_06]: Let's see here.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_06]: Where do they list that?
- 12:29[SPEAKER_06]: I don't even see it listed.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, Board of Ethics.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, they're meeting on Monday.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_06]: It's gonna be in an executive session.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_06]: Who doesn't have to hold these people with their charge?
- 12:46[SPEAKER_06]: Where they're gonna meet in a star chamber, thanger to decide, and why don't we know who the individuals are?
- 12:52[SPEAKER_06]: We know what the issues are.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_06]: Just hold it and you open.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_06]: What is it with these people, everything's in?
- 12:58[SPEAKER_06]: They never have a good job, so they like being told they're in an executive, is that it?
- 13:03[SPEAKER_06]: I think that's a 330 on Monday.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_06]: You know, the truth.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_06]: only in Reseros should just go over there and well, they can't get in because of Erick's new $2,000,000 dollar door.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_06]: Have you seen that?
- 13:19[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_06]: It's a fortress third floor over there.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_06]: I don't think they'll be able to get in, but I still don't know who's on this port of ethics.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_06]: And I'm trying to find out from the city's website.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_06]: Well, let's see.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_06]: Well, we'll try departments or to bet things.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_06]: No, no, oh, boards and commissions, kind of hard to get to.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_06]: No, nothing under there either.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_06]: Somebody's going to have to help us out on that.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_06]: Good afternoon, you're on the air.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_07]: Good afternoon, Mr. Mayor.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_07]: Hey, are you?
- 14:08[SPEAKER_07]: Okay.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_07]: I got a question for you.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_07]: I think we don't have a strong mayor in what it's done.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_07]: What exactly does the mayor have what it's done do?
- 14:18[SPEAKER_07]: What is this purpose?
- 14:20[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, sir.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_06]: You've got to turn it red.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, sir.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_06]: You've got to turn your radio down.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_07]: Okay.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_07]: Sorry.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_06]: Well, the mayor.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_06]: obviously there's a ceremony of duties you're preside over the council and I guess you would provide leadership on major issues and you know relay the needs of the constituents to the administrator.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_06]: I would think that would be the primary job but unfortunately nobody who's connected to the people makes a decision in towns like this and I say that and then
- 15:02[SPEAKER_07]: like the King of England, you know, since ceremonially and as no actual power.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_06]: Well, the frustration is, if you are in that office, and I'm sure Mayor Pierce feels this frustration.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_06]: You have issues and things you'd like to try to move along or get resolved or deal with, like take for instance the House of Horrors on Crafting Street, but if you say anything it's like, well, that's not your role, and then nothing gets done.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_06]: So, I don't know.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_06]: I'm still looking for the Board of Ethics on the website here.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_06]: I think it must be a secret.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_06]: It's a secret who it is.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, well, everything secret these days.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_06]: Well, everything's executive session these days.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, here they are.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_06]: Well, Don Rothford, John, yeah.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_07]: Not now, and I was like,
- 15:58[SPEAKER_06]: I would too.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_06]: I live here.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_06]: I pay the taxes here.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_06]: That's what I want.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_06]: And you know what?
- 16:03[SPEAKER_06]: It doesn't benefit me.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_06]: I'm not running for anything.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_06]: I'm not running.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_06]: But I'll tell you having been there and seen it all.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_06]: And there's pluses and minuses to any form of government.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_06]: But I don't think what we have now is working.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_06]: And this nonsense that's going on now.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_06]: About this ethics and what is the end game?
- 16:24[SPEAKER_06]: None of the people that talk.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_06]: There's a microphone right here.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_06]: I got my hand down.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I got my hand out a microphone next to me any of these people could come in and say what's your end game what are you trying to accomplish here and they won't do it The end game is always money money money for the for the lawyer.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, but I mean, they make enough for ready.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_07]: But the end game is Destroy somebody politically which I'm just translated the money eventually.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_06]: Correct.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_06]: correct but uh... yeah uh... well that's my opinion and uh... uh... i think you you know the best thing to do is the media doesn't send somebody over to serenaclai can see Clyde rabid who was mayor of platsburg is retired now
- 17:23[SPEAKER_06]: nice guy very knowledgeable in politics and ask them about asking them to explain it because people don't know you can't have that we can't have that in water town not in water town no no screw it i'll say what i want for no one i thought that for quite a while but i you know say what i want
- 17:45[SPEAKER_06]: Anyway, 755-1240, therefore, I think we should have a counter-executive, too, elected.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_06]: I know these legislators don't want, they want to, they want to go to pizza and decide on things on Tuesday nights.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_06]: Alright, and they're all nice guys, too.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_06]: I don't really agree with that either.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, how could he say that?
- 18:04[SPEAKER_06]: How could he say that?
- 18:05[SPEAKER_06]: Get him off the air.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I'm still looking for this board of ethics on the, uh...
- 18:14[SPEAKER_06]: Um... Oh, there it is.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_06]: Ah, I'm not good with any Stephen Jennings.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_06]: Carrie Parker, I don't know her.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_06]: Yvonne Raff used to be the library director of lovely woman, lovely woman.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_06]: Don Rothaford used to be at the Watertown Local Development Corp and Suzanne Renzi Folljay.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_06]: I hope I'm pronouncing that right.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_06]: Um, and I'm sorry if I'm not, but that's the Board of Ethics.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_06]: the gang of five, and what are they going to decide up, whether they make a recommendation to remove those two from counsel, they made one on only that never happened.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_06]: So what's the end game?
- 18:54[SPEAKER_06]: Why even do this if they're leaving office?
- 18:56[SPEAKER_06]: Think about it.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_06]: Think about it because this is all there's billable hours linked to all this.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_06]: You're paying for it.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_06]: You're going to pay higher taxes because of this.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_06]: Think about it.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_06]: What do they do?
- 19:06[SPEAKER_06]: Let's say this Board of Ethics meets Monday in executive session and Chairman Jennings comes out in a row and a wig and everything like that and holds court over this Augusta Body.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_06]: And they're going to decide what they're told to decide and then what's the city council do?
- 19:25[SPEAKER_06]: Are they going to kick these people off before the end of the year?
- 19:27[SPEAKER_06]: We're going to save two weeks pay or something or let the other guys get sworn in for a couple of weeks to finish out their terms.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_06]: the new guys the newbies i i don't really know that i will nobody has told me what the end game is what what do you are accomplishing other than if somebody's worried i only dead in the water politically he's not going to run for anything but i'm talking about uh... least of a zero into you she could run for mayor but then we'll have a couple more twenty percent tax increases maybe people want some kind of change so anyway uh... possibly two open seas is this an effort to dust up these people so they can't run again
- 20:06[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know, I don't know, but I'm getting all sorts of text messages here.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_06]: Somebody says town supervisors used to run the county and you were in favor of electing county legislature.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_06]: That's true, but the administrative oversight of the county was not was a chairman of that supervisors.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_06]: You know, again, that's not direct election by the whole county.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_06]: So I would fit and I think this new guy from what I can see is doing our job.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_06]: He seems to get good reviews, but they don't want to run.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_06]: Why would they?
- 20:49[SPEAKER_06]: Uh, well, let's see, um, here's the, um, something from Lisa Vajero talking about.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_06]: that whole meeting the council had a couple weeks ago to decide to bring these things was probably a violation of the open meeting slot.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_06]: But nobody cares.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_06]: Okay.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_06]: Nobody cares about that stuff.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_06]: They're easily impressed by words like executive session and even they violated the sanctity of it or something.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_06]: Some stupid memo.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_06]: Well, whatever.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_06]: Uh, this question, what happened at the critical admission attorney spoke about and Cliff had opportunity to give you a side.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_06]: No, there will be no.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_06]: somebody said stop justifying unethical behavior who is your boss?
- 21:39[SPEAKER_06]: Well, the owner of the station, Jim Levin, why were you going to do about it?
- 21:45[SPEAKER_06]: I'm not justifying any, I don't know what their behavior was.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_06]: Personally, I think a lot of this executive session stuff is nonsense.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_06]: I struggled with it at the time years ago.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, it was always, it's usually embarrassment avoidance.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_06]: Now, somebody texted in, what they said, the two council people are leaving in a couple of weeks why we're running up more billable hours.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_06]: Well, I mean, the people who get the billable hours, you know why they're doing it.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, it's money.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_06]: I do it too.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_06]: And this person says the council needs to start thinking about what jobs and services to cut.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_06]: Exactly.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_06]: Exactly.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_06]: Exactly.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_06]: Because we're going to roll into the new year now only told me the other day that they're being told privately there's a 30% tax proposal increase coming next year.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_06]: I don't think it'll end up that but.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_06]: And that's without the effects of the hydro situation.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_06]: It doesn't show up till 2030.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_06]: So is anybody putting any thought into what's got to happen to contain costs?
- 22:52[SPEAKER_06]: Anybody?
- 22:54[SPEAKER_06]: Make sure hand.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_06]: Or is it all about cooking up some ethics violation?
- 22:59[SPEAKER_06]: I don't even know what it's, I don't know whose idea it was, I don't know the genesis of it.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_06]: And we've all followed politics.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_06]: And if anybody had any complaints about Olnie or Roger or they could have just brought it up at the meeting.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_06]: But this process that we're using is frightening.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_06]: This idea that you can get this,
- 23:23[SPEAKER_06]: ethics board to give you a recommendation and you're not going to go to a board like that unless you know what the end result is.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_06]: It's like any commissioner or body and I go there unless you know what the end result is.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_06]: And then you can use that to throw a couple people off the island who were elected whether you like them or not.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_06]: Boy, it's scary and I'm shocked that the council did this.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_06]: Good afternoon, you're on the air.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_10]: Good afternoon, Mayor.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_10]: I hear you were talking about the budget proposal maybe for next year, you know, guesses as all it is at this time.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_06]: Right.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_10]: Well, the two biggest departments, of course, is the place department, the party department.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_10]: So nobody's really going to be unwillingly to cut the place department if they do.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_10]: Now the last time when Mayor Graham excuse me, excuse me, excuse me.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_10]: When Mayor Samantha was in office, they tried diligently to cough, to cough the firewood.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_10]: And they have that 15 minimum causing minimum of $1 per shift.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_10]: And they lost that battle to a tune of $1 million.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_06]: the cost of a million dollars to try to cut the fire department or more and they knew that ahead of time that provision for minimum manning that was negotiated back probably in the 70s maybe when they reduced from five to three stage whatever they did then and it used to be the rover 100 firemen now there's about 72 or something like that so I mean that and and that was considered
- 25:15[SPEAKER_06]: and accommodation at the time to say, well, we're going to maintain this minimum number no matter what.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_06]: And then times change, technologies change, they don't feel they need it, they can't afford it.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_06]: The only way they can cut it is through a collective bargaining process.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_06]: And there's no way the smoke eaters are going to give that up without getting something in return.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_10]: In return, like you mentioned before, you got to buy out that clause.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, and they may not water.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_06]: They may feel the safety issue is paramount, and they don't want to tell me.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_10]: I'm not a fan of Mr. Mayor Smith, when he won his legal decision of not having to courthouses, the polls will then, I think, was somewhere
- 26:10[SPEAKER_10]: around six or seven million dollars.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_10]: Well, here we are.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_10]: I don't know.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_10]: I'm going to guess and say ten years down the road and we're spending six million dollars.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_10]: I know there's more than that included in this.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_10]: But we're still spending.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_10]: Approximately the same amount of money ten years later.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_10]: If we would have done it back then, at least
- 26:38[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, we would have had the two judges and so on.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_06]: That was that was a lot of local local politics too with who got to be the part-time judge and a full-time and all of that stuff.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_06]: And the part-time judges really full-time because they get full benefits, so it's not really part-time, but um, I don't know.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I agree with you.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_06]: The state decided to expand the number of judges.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_06]: It was there to see them.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_06]: I remember when they had been a straightive lodge that's called me up and told me, I don't know, the legislature passed it.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_06]: It's not my decision.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_06]: You know, we should try to accommodate it.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_06]: And then they fought it and fought it and fought it.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_06]: And we were probably the only city in the state.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_06]: who tried to do that.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_06]: And it wasn't really saving the taxpayers in water town a dime.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_06]: So I understand Mayor Spitz position on it.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_06]: And I like Mayor Spitz.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_06]: And we'd love to have mine.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_06]: I tried to call him last night.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_10]: I'd love to have mine.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_10]: He's a great guy.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_10]: He's an awesome guy.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_10]: I really believe he is.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_10]: You know, though the work he does professionally.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_10]: I'm sure he does excellent work.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_10]: I know he
- 27:53[SPEAKER_10]: help get the right care and everything I appreciate that.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_06]: I do too.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_10]: I can like the man and not be a fan.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_06]: Well, you can certainly disagree with public policy decisions and that's not personally.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, that is what I'm saying there.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_10]: That is what I'm
- 28:11[SPEAKER_06]: But as far as, uh, you know, if we had a more aggressive news media at a Fevergeto and olding were a little more aggressive, they like to kind of roll over a lot.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_06]: And, uh, they'd walk in there Monday at 330 and say, you know, no, they're saying going, we're coming in.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_06]: Right.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_06]: But cause a confrontation, make a scene, make the news, do something.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_06]: Look at these people out of Chicago, wuppin' it up in the streets, they're doing it for theater.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_10]: Right, right, right, right, get a bunch of
- 28:42[SPEAKER_06]: uh... supporters that on there and have signs and what souls and right there you go okay well thank you okay man thank you so much man appreciate you thanks by no you know one story and i'll just mention it and we'll go to a break really bought these kind of stories about i mean people get killed in accidents all the time there's terrible things that happened there's the here and overseas but
- 29:09[SPEAKER_06]: Three weeks ago that young lady and Charlotte who was on the commuter train, and that person just stood up behind her and stuck a knife at her neck.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_06]: And she bled out right on the floor of the train.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_06]: Well, everybody watched.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_06]: Well, this week, we do it again.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_06]: No, let's go to Chicago.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_06]: A guy who's been arrested like 48 times, a 50-year-old bomb goes to a gas station, fills a container with gasoline,
- 29:38[SPEAKER_06]: The subway or rail trip, whatever it is like rail or whatever gets on it, goes over to a twenty six year old woman.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_06]: Many of you have twenty six year old daughters or wives or whatever.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_06]: Well, not wives unless you're a made December type.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_06]: But anyway, twenty six year old daughters he poured the gas on her and she tried to run away and he ran after him and let the match and nobody helped her in the train.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_06]: She finally, the door open, she got out and some people on the landing put her out, she's severely burned now.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_06]: And this guy is in custody, but they're having a court hearing tomorrow to decide whether to keep him in custody.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_06]: Really?
- 30:18[SPEAKER_06]: In that Pritzker's Illinois and whatever his name is, the mayor.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_06]: Holy cow, then the Democrats probably want him back on the, oh well, you know.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_06]: Just give him an ankle bracelet.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_06]: Well, it's not their 26-year-old daughter.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_06]: who's in a burn unit, would dubious prospects and the very best disfiguring industries for life.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_06]: And this kind of stuff goes on, and nobody seems to care.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_06]: Is anybody care here if it happened on a bus here, but anybody in, I don't think they would?
- 30:55[SPEAKER_06]: Disgusting.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_06]: Anyway, we'll take time out for a break and we'll be back with, you know what, you're listening to the hotline on AM-1240.

- 35:34[SPEAKER_06]: I don't think Kevin says either people let me explain how jobs work
- 35:41[SPEAKER_06]: You go to work, you do your job, pay attention, all of that, and then you get paid.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_06]: You're not volunteering for anything.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_06]: No, some of these people are right things, and I just have no understanding of what work is.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_06]: So, anyway, Councilwoman Regeros put out a statement, and we'll read anyone's statement.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_06]: Just want that, no, and we'll read anyone's and we'll have anyone on the air.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_06]: But she says, and I'm going to read this because I am.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_06]: Two authorities agree, Mayor Pierce, and Councilman Kimball, and shown ethics filing violated open meetings law, here we go.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_06]: And she says, city attorney, Kristen Smith, is facing an unprecedented five-way conflict of interest as the Watertown Ethics Board prepares to meet November 24th.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_06]: Okay.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_06]: Let's see, two open government, a couple of open meetings log group and coalition for open government stated on the surface.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_06]: It looks like a violation.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_06]: Ms. Rejero goes on to say that the city attorney is a five-way conflict of interest, attorney for the three council members, who filed the complaint attorney for the state.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_06]: who conducted the foil review, cited in the complaint.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_06]: She's the attorney who publicly defended the legality of their firing or filing.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_06]: She's the attorney for the Watertown Board of Ethics, reviewing the complaint, and as attorney for the entire city, council included the targeting, including the targeted men, members.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_06]: This is a five-way conflict.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_06]: She says that no municipal ethics system in New York can tolerate.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_06]: Well, they're going to.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_06]: She was on a proceeding under an unlawful filing at a five-way conflict of interest, creates significantly the exposure, including open meeting law violations.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_06]: There's no exposure there, retaliation claims, it just claims, selective enforcement, muckers, abuse of power, maybe, and constitutional violations.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_06]: There's nobody down there who's read the Constitution.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_06]: Um, it appears the filing, uh, appears unlawful as Rujero says the city attorney is conflicted at every level.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_06]: The process was tainted before it began and the ethics boards cancel the meeting until the complainants like Galilee is resolved.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_06]: Wow.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_06]: If the ethics board is not canceled the meeting there, complicit and should be held personally liable for participating in this politically motivated attack.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_06]: But ma'am, personally liable, there is no liability for that.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, there is not.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_06]: If it's a politically motivated, so whatever their motivation is, I agree.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_06]: I wouldn't buy their hold in the meeting, but show up at the meeting and confront them.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_06]: Put on a show for the media.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_06]: Pound on the $10,000 dollar door if you have to, I don't care what you do.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_06]: You can put out statements to your blue and the face, but nobody cares.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_06]: The public doesn't, well, some of the public cares.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_06]: They're frustrated by this.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_06]: But basically, the majority of the council, the administration and the legal council, they don't care.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_06]: They'll just write out a couple days of bad press and that's that.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_06]: They still got their, they still all get paid, they still all, you know, get whatever they want.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_06]: So it doesn't matter.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_06]: Alrighty, but appreciate you sending it to us, ma'am.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_06]: Hey, why don't we do a break and we'll be back?
- 39:15[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, one other thing.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_06]: As a recent agreement with that ninety-one-year-old widow for her to move out of her home for the Micron site.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_06]: Remember they were trying to chase her out ninety-one-years-old?
- 39:33[SPEAKER_06]: They were all well, they were hoping she would be dead.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_06]: There was some protest down there.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_06]: She looked in the house sixty years, she wanted to stay let her stay.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_06]: But no, the mythical Micron plant that we don't even know if it's going to be built.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_06]: Um, work around to build around it if you have to, but they've reached an agreement, so she'll get some money and have to be roused it out of the house, whatever, and where she's lived for 60 years and I doesn't matter, that no matter, all righty, we will be back with more in a moment.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_19]: Around the corner, around the continent, around the clock.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_19]: This is the news in talk authority, AM-1240.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_16]: W-A-T-N. You've been hearing about Harrage's contracting, and now your roof is leaking, so get on the phone now, and call 3-15-7-A-2-91-29.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_16]: And get your roof repaired or replaced all together.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_16]: Roof leaking?
- 40:33[SPEAKER_16]: Call Harrage is now.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_16]: The roof people who always call you back.

- 43:45[SPEAKER_06]: OK, somebody wants to know is Wagner, Mr. Wagner, the highest paid city management upstate.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_06]: I don't think so.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_06]: There's probably some municipal administrators, particularly in the Hudson Valley in that area, who would make a lot more, certainly county administrators, and so, and schools are for tendency, goes without question, heads of authorities, and all of that, probably make a lot more.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, but you don't know how much they make.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, who knows how much they add of dank makes?
- 44:11[SPEAKER_06]: Nobody knows, it's probably more than the governor.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_06]: uh... this person also wants to know who the new city attorney is they talk about changing it because the current firm providing city legal services by changing doesn't want the uh... upfront person in there anymore because it's too much controversy they want to the deal that's being caught as if they're going to keep all the litigation which is high high dollar stuff
- 44:34[SPEAKER_06]: and then somebody else will take the money night meeting routine.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_06]: I heard the name of Todd Ballard again.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_06]: He was the one who was at the beginning of all of this from Harris Beach and Rochester.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_06]: And he might come back and do it.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_06]: There's some sediment for that.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_06]: So I don't know what's going to happen.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_06]: But I'll tell you, you'd think you could find a lawyer who will have to do it because it's good money.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_06]: It's municipal work is the mother's milk of flooring because you know you're going to get paid.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_06]: You know, I need a lawyer a couple of years.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_06]: I can't find anybody here.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_06]: Unless you, oh, you want to plead a DWI.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_06]: They're coming out there all over the place, but beyond that, you can't find a lawyer in water town.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_06]: All righty, let's see.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, you got more text coming in.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_06]: Well, let's see.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_06]: Other person says, I hate to admit it, but everything seems to have gone to house and fly left.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_06]: That's referring to Bob's life.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_06]: In some ways, I'd have to agree with that.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_06]: Well, think about him that I think was a plus, is he?
- 45:44[SPEAKER_06]: He didn't live in the area in the later years, but he lived up on the river, but he didn't live in the city for, I think he had a real feel for our understanding of the city.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_06]: and the people and the players and all of that out now was he perfect?
- 45:57[SPEAKER_06]: No, they were issues there too, but they always said he was like the de facto manager, kind of like a resputant character back in the days of the Tsar.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know, I don't know, I.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_06]: He's over at Judge McClusky's office, now he's his law clerk doing well.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_06]: Staying out of, well, he's on the water town of water town board too.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_06]: So anyway, where's the angry guy someone wants so I don't know.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_06]: I'm worried.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_06]: We are all worried Somebody told me who he was and where it was If anybody knows the angry guy go check out him.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_06]: He called once last week got worked up and We haven't heard a thing since Yeah, the angry guy
- 46:49[SPEAKER_06]: Well, what else have we got?
- 46:50[SPEAKER_06]: That's about it.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_06]: That's going to be fascinating this afternoon that meeting in the oval, the oval, as they say.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_06]: Between President Trump and Mayor Electmond and Dami, I would think they both are charmers or capable of it.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_06]: Trump has to stay away from just making stupid remarks.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_06]: That's a different thing.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_06]: just charm them, you know, and uh... you don't have to agree on anything or find something you can agree on or something like that and go from there uh... let's see person sends attacks in the council is still getting sidetracked with more ethics complain and not addressing the budget yes that's true um...
- 47:42[SPEAKER_06]: That's what stuff concerned to me.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, you could still start, you know, start thinking about that and identifying some areas, this is gonna have to, well, they don't have to be cuts.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_06]: We can afford to pay more into access.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_06]: But if you're talking double digit again next spring, in and of itself, that's not a big deal.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_06]: If that was your only bill that you get, what your other bills, your heating bills,
- 48:08[SPEAKER_06]: go into the grocery store, I went yesterday, cost a fortune.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_06]: And all of they keep going up, too.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_06]: So makes it difficult to just keep absorbing these increases.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_06]: And then the school district will want those standard 4% and that type of stuff.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_06]: So I don't know, we'll see, we'll see what happens.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_06]: But yeah, I think it's a distraction.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_06]: And again, I have a microphone right next to me.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_06]: someone's more than welcome to come in and explain to me and the assembled masses out there in the ships at sea.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_06]: What's the end game on this ethics complaint?
- 48:46[SPEAKER_06]: What's the goal?
- 48:49[SPEAKER_06]: Is it one of this liftist James no one is above the law things?
- 48:55[SPEAKER_06]: Or just what is the goal?
- 48:58[SPEAKER_06]: Good afternoon you're on the air.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_06]: You're right, what's up?
- 49:03[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, no, much I'm listening to you talk here about the end game for the after-to-spirited and I was out there a little bit of research and how is learning what if they were to come, what if what if Mr. Jerio was to come in, who would she cross examins or would it be Jeff Smith?
- 49:22[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, he's not right to cross examin the people who are accused of being out of these things.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, let's hold on a second.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_06]: Uh, there is no testimony at this thing.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_06]: It's just the ethics board members.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_06]: I assume reading a written record of whatever was prepared for it.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_06]: There's no testimony being heard, because I know of.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_08]: You can bring it up.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_08]: She can bring it up on that.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_08]: She can bring it up on the accusers.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, what I would do is listen, I'm going to Steve Jennings for years.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_06]: I like a smart guy, but I'm very disappointed in all of this and what the ethics board has evolved into as an instrument of political budgeting.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_06]: And I would say that the best thing they could do is go up there on Monday at 330 and say, wait a minute, what do you people doing?
- 50:20[SPEAKER_06]: And make a scene.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_06]: What are the endoodeas?
- 50:23[SPEAKER_06]: Have you arrested?
- 50:24[SPEAKER_09]: This is really, this is really what this is all about, and we know, he lost the puck, they lost the puck win role.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_09]: This is, this is really all I can't come down to, he lost the role and they can't get over it.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_09]: I know.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_09]: He lost the puck win role in a legal, three council members voting legally for that.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_09]: And ever since they've done that?
- 50:49[SPEAKER_09]: they just want to muddy the water in it for what now because you got both of them leaving office Mr. Hickey is already gone and it's just doesn't make sense for them to do what they're doing.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_06]: It doesn't seem to, but they must have a rationale and greater minds and hours of considered it.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_06]: All right, that's it.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_06]: I got a run sir.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_06]: Thank you.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_06]: All righty, and we'll take time out for a message or so and be back with more of the hotline in a moment.

- 54:34[SPEAKER_06]: Depend on it.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_06]: Well, Senator Schumer in his upstate tours announced the Senate's passage of the bipartisan whole milk for Hitler Healthy kids act the legislation allows schools to offer Unflavored and flavored milk as well as whole and reduce fat milk Stop I think I have almonds milk to or something They're gonna day back in the day
- 55:01[SPEAKER_06]: He got a little cart in the milk and he was like two cents, and he put a straw in it and you drank it.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_06]: He didn't get chocolate milk or strawberry milk, he didn't get whole milk or one percent of two percent.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_06]: There was none of that nonsense.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_06]: It was just milk, and that was it.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_06]: That was in a different America.
- 55:20[SPEAKER_06]: That's back when we did air raid drills by Gali.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_06]: and people dressed up when they got on an airplane and things like that.
- 55:29[SPEAKER_06]: That was a different America.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_06]: All these different kinds of milk.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_06]: We don't need that in the school.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_06]: One kind of milk, and that's it.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_06]: And then piece, some people don't want their kids drinking milk.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_06]: That's their decision.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_06]: I guess, but I don't know.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_06]: Somebody just texted in.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_06]: I think Ben's shown should run for mayor to straighten everything out.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_06]: Well, these welcome, too.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_06]: I thought he wanted off the council, that's what he always says, people say that because you're, you know, it doesn't mean anything.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_06]: So, let's come up on the screen here.
- 56:10[SPEAKER_06]: I'll get that off.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_06]: A couple minutes left on the show of shows.
- 56:16[SPEAKER_06]: On the next week, we have a shortened week.
- 56:18[SPEAKER_06]: In some circles, I'll use the fancy word, a truncated week of hotlines.
- 56:21[SPEAKER_06]: Only three editions, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
- 56:24[SPEAKER_06]: And then Thursday and Friday, I am off.
- 56:27[SPEAKER_06]: Although if you want to see me for with and with them you can come on over to Pearl Street those both days I'll be working so I'm not urging you to do that I'm just saying that's where I'll be if you need me.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_06]: So anyway I don't know I I would say councillors are available but I'm giving you time to prepare so that you know you can spend their quality time with you in yours and there's no you'll log to get around yet is there?
- 56:56[SPEAKER_06]: I don't think so.
- 56:58[SPEAKER_06]: I don't think so, I think it's too early for the U.L.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_06]: But, you know, after somebody asking when you put your Christmas decorations up, well, I don't have a lot of them, but certainly not before you do your Thanksgiving and your Thanksgiving weekend out of the way, then you take away any kind of gourds and fall stuff and put it away or throw away whatever you're doing, and then you get your Christmas decorations out.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_06]: Now I go with a more Spartan form nowadays, used to be I'd go all on a part of a garland and lights and all those nonsense and just kind of got away from all of that and have a more austere and Spartan Christmas now than the old days and I don't think it makes any difference because I don't think the public really cares.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, exactly.
- 57:46[SPEAKER_06]: Here's the tax low voter turnout means just
- 57:51[SPEAKER_06]: people don't care about what's going yeah they feel it's irrelevant yeah i mean there was a time back when i was first in the politics or a new when i was back as the newsman were people were interested i remember what was what would come out in the back page of the paper was like you know that was what you talked about on the show uh... things like that now nobody dug nobody knows what's going on really and uh...
- 58:22[SPEAKER_06]: And it'd be nice if there was more involvement, more discussion on it, more coverage of it.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_06]: But it's just not going to be that way.
- 58:30[SPEAKER_06]: So frankly, these little, whatever they are, city hall and all of that stuff, we talk about them because it's something to talk about.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_06]: And these are easy targets, it's easy pick-ins, all that stuff.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_06]: But really, non-nipot matters when you get right down to it.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_06]: Everything's going, we'll stay as it is next year, and we'll be happy with it.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_06]: But in the meantime, we get to talk about it in a hotline a bit, and some people will complain, but it's not going to change anything.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_06]: I need to say that.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_06]: I don't mean to just support anybody.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, let's see.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_06]: Is that it?
- 59:13[SPEAKER_06]: I think that's about it.
- 59:18[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_06]: Just about done for me.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_06]: You know, we got Glenn Curry in at five today.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_06]: Glenn can talk about these things, maybe.
- 59:24[SPEAKER_06]: Hold.
- 59:25[SPEAKER_06]: Here's a good topic for you, Glenn.
- 59:27[SPEAKER_06]: Shopping cards.
- 59:27[SPEAKER_06]: People like to talk about shopping cards in the area.
- 59:34[SPEAKER_06]: that'll be nice.
- 59:35[SPEAKER_06]: Okay.
- 59:37[SPEAKER_06]: All right.
- 59:37[SPEAKER_06]: Well, just a little bit of time left here.
- 59:39[SPEAKER_06]: I hope you have a good weekend.
- 59:41[SPEAKER_06]: We expect some rain today.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_06]: Not a bad weekend.
- 59:43[SPEAKER_06]: And really right through with Thanksgiving, not spectacular weather, but adequate weather.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_06]: No big storms in the offing for the North Country, not like what three years ago they had a huge win.
- 59:53[SPEAKER_06]: Okay.
- 59:54[SPEAKER_06]: Well, that's our show for today.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_06]: We'll be back on Monday.
- 59:56[SPEAKER_06]: You have a good weekend.
- 59:58[SPEAKER_06]: Take care, drive carefully.
- 59:59[SPEAKER_06]: This is AM124.
