Transcript
- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome to jag Zam this morning. I'm kind of Annie Stevens,
- 0:19Speaker 1: Brian Sexton and John Ozer are with of me. We're
- 0:20Speaker 1: gonna talk about the Jaguars Viking game coming up this Sunday,
- 0:23Speaker 1: but I'm not entirely sure who's gonna be out on.
- 0:25Speaker 2: The field for the Jaguars at this point.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Let's start out with big thing one, which is QB,
- 0:29Speaker 1: who Trevor Lawrence banged up in the game against the Eagles,
- 0:32Speaker 1: the team bringing in backup quarterback c Ja Besards to
- 0:35Speaker 1: back up the other backup quarterback, Matt Jones. So we
- 0:38Speaker 1: heard from Trevor Lawrence earlier this.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Week talking about whether he'd be ready for game TEB.
- 0:43Speaker 3: That's the goal. I'm gonna doing everything I can to
- 0:44Speaker 3: be out there, you know, and if I gets in
- 0:47Speaker 3: the past, I've gotten banged up in the past, and
- 0:49Speaker 3: I just try to do everything I can do and
- 0:50Speaker 3: the week concern myself to play Sunday and just pretty
- 0:53Speaker 3: much time as possible into that and getting healthy. So
- 0:56Speaker 3: that's that's the way my my mind is right now.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Brand We saw Trevor Lawrence battle through a lot of
- 1:02Speaker 1: injuries last year. He played without practicing without trying to
- 1:06Speaker 1: rest throughout the week. Didn't always go that well for him,
- 1:09Speaker 1: especially in that kid. At the end of last season,
- 1:10Speaker 1: they brought in mac Jones for this purpose. Are we
- 1:12Speaker 1: gonna see Trevor Lawrence?
- 1:13Speaker 2: Do you think?
- 1:14Speaker 4: I don't think so.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Now.
- 1:15Speaker 5: Listen, I assumed on Monday when I made my little hay,
- 1:17Speaker 5: I think the Jaguars will win this Sunday prediction. I
- 1:19Speaker 5: assumed that Trevor was going to play, So I'm just
- 1:22Speaker 5: gonna go the other way and assume that he's not.
- 1:23Speaker 5: Although I think the tell there was that's the goal.
- 1:26Speaker 5: That's what I'm trying to do. Look, he had a
- 1:28Speaker 5: lot of time last year in over six weeks. He
- 1:31Speaker 5: learned that it isn't disseasy to do. I mean, your
- 1:34Speaker 5: body may say no when your heart and mind say yes.
- 1:38Speaker 5: I have no inside knowledge on this, and the Jaguars
- 1:41Speaker 5: are doing their part to make sure nobody has inside
- 1:44Speaker 5: knowledge on this. They want the advantage one way or
- 1:46Speaker 5: the other. And I'm going to tell you I didn't
- 1:48Speaker 5: get the sense that he was gonna throw it all
- 1:51Speaker 5: out there on the field on Sunday.
- 1:53Speaker 4: I just didn't.
- 1:54Speaker 6: Yeah, I think he's gonna try and He's shown that
- 1:57Speaker 6: he's willing CJ. Bethard the Mammy Dolphins practice squad to
- 2:03Speaker 6: be the backup to Mac Jones, which means you're keeping
- 2:06Speaker 6: CJ on the roster for at least three weeks. That
- 2:10Speaker 6: tells I think everybody that there's a serious chance to
- 2:12Speaker 6: everyone play. So I'm going to lean toward not just
- 2:18Speaker 6: because of the.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Tea leaves and something.
- 2:20Speaker 1: We'll keep an eye and see what his availability is
- 2:22Speaker 1: in practice as this week goes along.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Our big thing Number two is going to be year three.
- 2:26Speaker 1: We're looking ahead to that matchup with the Vikings this
- 2:28Speaker 1: week and Kevin O'Connell, head coach over there in Minnesota.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Is entering his third season.
- 2:33Speaker 1: And when you look at this offense, Brian, when we've
- 2:35Speaker 1: seen what they've done with Sam Darnold and this year
- 2:38Speaker 1: after drafting a quarterback and then bringing him in, it's
- 2:40Speaker 1: been impressive to see on offensive sets football.
- 2:43Speaker 5: Well, he comes from the Sean McVay, you know, Shanahan
- 2:47Speaker 5: kind of mold of a young bright offensive mine. But
- 2:50Speaker 5: they were sort of grasping when they grabbed Sam Donald.
- 2:52Speaker 5: I don't think there's any way that they could have
- 2:54Speaker 5: looked and said, well a right. Sam Donald was the
- 2:56Speaker 5: fourth pick by the Jets and they let him go,
- 2:58Speaker 5: and he went to the Panthers and they let him
- 2:59Speaker 5: go when he went to San Francisco for a year.
- 3:02Speaker 5: I mean, maybe maybe Shanahan shared some knowledge with him
- 3:05Speaker 5: about what the quarterback was. But it really helps when
- 3:08Speaker 5: you have the best wide receiver in football in Justin
- 3:10Speaker 5: Jefferson and then they go grab Aara Jones in free
- 3:14Speaker 5: agency and he's been a revelation for them, just a
- 3:17Speaker 5: powerful running back. And Sam Donald settled in seven seasons
- 3:21Speaker 5: in turns out he is a pretty good quarterback. And
- 3:23Speaker 5: O'Connell looks like a genius sportthanding him the reins.
- 3:26Speaker 6: Yeah, I think you're gonna see Sam Donald type stories
- 3:30Speaker 6: more around the league.
- 3:30Speaker 4: You're seeing it with Baker Mayfield.
- 3:32Speaker 6: These guys come in and you know, the more I
- 3:35Speaker 6: think about this last couple of weeks as I sort
- 3:38Speaker 6: of focused on it, I think the league's broken when
- 3:40Speaker 6: it comes to trying to develop young quarterbacks. They have
- 3:43Speaker 6: to play too soon, the expectations, then you're out the door.
- 3:46Speaker 6: So I think Sam Donald's an example of I think
- 3:49Speaker 6: a trend you're gonna see which means nothing to the
- 3:52Speaker 6: Jaguars this week. The point is they've got to play
- 3:55Speaker 6: this guy. And the Vikings are a lot better than
- 3:58Speaker 6: you would have thought that. The Vikings are one of
- 3:59Speaker 6: the teams in the NFL right now. They're consistent, they're
- 4:03Speaker 6: always hard to beat, they're always there, and they're even
- 4:06Speaker 6: hard to beat for the Jaguars this week.
- 4:08Speaker 4: And this is a solid team.
- 4:09Speaker 5: Right hey, don't forget Jared Goff is a reclamation story
- 4:12Speaker 5: of his own and he may have the best football
- 4:14Speaker 5: team out there right now with the seven and one Lions.
- 4:16Speaker 5: And the guy in Seattle was reclaimed a couple of
- 4:19Speaker 5: different times, so it's going to be a hot storyline
- 4:21Speaker 5: because the lack of patients in developing these guys, the
- 4:25Speaker 5: sense that you've got to go all in right now.
- 4:27Speaker 4: I mean c J.
- 4:28Speaker 5: Stroud, who was so good as a rookie. It's been
- 4:30Speaker 5: pretty good this year too. Seems to be the exception
- 4:32Speaker 5: to the rule. These guys need some time.
- 4:34Speaker 1: We're seeing with Anthony Richardson and Bryce Young right now
- 4:37Speaker 1: as well, so it's be something to keep an eye
- 4:39Speaker 1: on for sure. Let's do our final big thing today,
- 4:40Speaker 1: which is going to be picked your poison.
- 4:42Speaker 2: We're talking a little.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Bit about the Vikings, who had kind of an inverse
- 4:45Speaker 1: season with the Jaguars have been having They've been playing
- 4:47Speaker 1: tight games, and they've been finding ways to win. John
- 4:50Speaker 1: when we talk about that offense, obviously what they've been
- 4:52Speaker 1: able to do with Sam Darnold, but also this defense
- 4:55Speaker 1: has been pretty much shut down since Brian Flour.
- 4:57Speaker 2: I've got there.
- 4:58Speaker 6: Well, the defense is good. On offense, justin Jefferson's really good.
- 5:03Speaker 6: This is when you looked at this stretch the Jaguars
- 5:06Speaker 6: are going into, I guess the filling a lot of people.
- 5:08Speaker 6: This was not a game they looked at as maybe
- 5:11Speaker 6: the same stretches Detroit or Philly.
- 5:15Speaker 4: But it's good. And if I picked my poison, I.
- 5:20Speaker 6: Think the offense this week, I mean, the Jaguars offense
- 5:23Speaker 6: is going to need some above the x's and o's
- 5:25Speaker 6: type plays from special players. This is not a defense
- 5:29Speaker 6: the Vikings that you're gonna go up and down the
- 5:30Speaker 6: field twelve plays. It's my headline later in the show,
- 5:36Speaker 6: so won't give it away. But yeah, although I could hear.
- 5:45Speaker 5: It, you're whispering still like that. I'm gonna say the
- 5:48Speaker 5: same thing this week that I said last week, and
- 5:50Speaker 5: that is if you don't stop Aaron Jones, if you
- 5:53Speaker 5: can't make him, if you can't put them in third
- 5:57Speaker 5: and long situations, you got no hope of stopping Justin Jefferson.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Anyway.
- 6:00Speaker 5: So this football team last week got a couple of
- 6:02Speaker 5: key tackles that Devon Hamilton played so well, made the
- 6:06Speaker 5: big tackle that set up the long field goal that
- 6:08Speaker 5: they missed to break serve and give the Jaguars offense
- 6:11Speaker 5: a chance. The defense has to help the quarterback, no
- 6:15Speaker 5: matter who it is. If it's Trevor who's banged up,
- 6:17Speaker 5: or as we seem to think, Matt Jones is going
- 6:18Speaker 5: to get his first start for the Jaguars, You're going
- 6:21Speaker 5: to have to get something more from the defense, and
- 6:23Speaker 5: I think that stopping Aaron Jones is giving them more.
- 6:27Speaker 1: All right, so far, and Jagzam coming up after the break.
- 6:29Speaker 1: We'll talk a little bit more about that Vikings matchup
- 6:31Speaker 1: coming on Sunday. Welcome back to Jagzam, brought to you
- 6:45Speaker 1: by Fields Auto Group, Jackson Bill's premier luxury auto group.
- 6:48Speaker 1: You can head over to Fieldsauto dot com.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Welcome you back in.
- 6:56Speaker 1: The Jaguars are going to take on the Vikings in
- 6:58Speaker 1: their Salute to Service game this weekend and as they
- 7:01Speaker 1: come to town. You're very talented team. We've been talking
- 7:03Speaker 1: about it a little bit, but we're going to look
- 7:05Speaker 1: into that a little bit more. One of the players
- 7:06Speaker 1: that's coming back, very familiar to Jaguars fans, came Robinson
- 7:10Speaker 1: traded there last week. I already played one game, so
- 7:13Speaker 1: it's been a couple of weeks since he's been gone,
- 7:14Speaker 1: but he's already been impressive in his first performance.
- 7:18Speaker 7: Cam being the first a veteran player with over ninety starts,
- 7:23Speaker 7: he knows how to play the game. I thought, for
- 7:25Speaker 7: a guy that showed up, and I used the play
- 7:28Speaker 7: style term a lot. He probably only heard it about
- 7:30Speaker 7: one hundred times, you know, which is a low number
- 7:33Speaker 7: most of our players will tell you.
- 7:35Speaker 4: But that showed up.
- 7:36Speaker 7: I mean his physicality in the run game. Maybe the
- 7:39Speaker 7: technique might not have been perfect, but his length and
- 7:42Speaker 7: strength and able to you know, come off the rock
- 7:44Speaker 7: when we needed him to, depending on if we were
- 7:47Speaker 7: running to his side or he was on the back
- 7:49Speaker 7: side of a run.
- 7:50Speaker 4: That showed up to me.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Ryan, we very familiar with Cam's style and we know
- 7:57Speaker 1: he'll be up for this game for sure. What are
- 7:59Speaker 1: we going to see from Cam? This might be the
- 8:01Speaker 1: best game we see from Cam. Yeah.
- 8:02Speaker 5: I mean we heard the stories that he was animated
- 8:04Speaker 5: when he lost his starting job, so you know, there's
- 8:08Speaker 5: a little bur under the saddle there, and the fact
- 8:10Speaker 5: that the Jaguars traded him he was the longest tenured
- 8:13Speaker 5: player here and that they were willing to move on.
- 8:17Speaker 5: There wasn't a real cohesive feeling between the organization and came.
- 8:21Speaker 5: At least from my third person perspective, it felt like
- 8:23Speaker 5: it was a little bit disjointed this year. So I
- 8:27Speaker 5: expect him to come play well. And I don't know
- 8:28Speaker 5: whether you saw the piece of video from the locker
- 8:30Speaker 5: room post game where Kevin O'Connell gave him a game ball.
- 8:34Speaker 5: The smile on his face was pretty telling, and I
- 8:37Speaker 5: expect that Josh and trayvonn't gonna have their hands full
- 8:39Speaker 5: with him on Sunday.
- 8:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:41Speaker 6: The end in the NFL is usually not how you feeling. Yeah,
- 8:46Speaker 6: because you're leaving. You don't want to leave. Look, Cam's fun.
- 8:51Speaker 6: Cam will be up for this, probably some pushing at
- 8:54Speaker 6: least some shoving.
- 8:55Speaker 4: As I've said a couple times this.
- 8:57Speaker 6: Week, I fully expect that at some point in the future,
- 9:00Speaker 6: Cam will be embraced. Cam will embrace the organization. He
- 9:03Speaker 6: was here for eight years. He liked being here.
- 9:06Speaker 4: This is not the weekend for embracing now.
- 9:09Speaker 6: It'll be fun. Cam gets motivated by things like that.
- 9:13Speaker 6: He's a street ball type guy. He likes the scrap
- 9:17Speaker 6: and I think I'm not saying he's gonna be fights,
- 9:20Speaker 6: but you know there's gonna be motivation. And you know what, Brian,
- 9:24Speaker 6: this is the kind of storyline makes it fun.
- 9:27Speaker 5: Especially when you go at you and seventeen right, you
- 9:29Speaker 5: need a little something to juice it up. I also
- 9:31Speaker 5: think that if you're Cam Robinson, you appreciate Kevin O'Connell,
- 9:33Speaker 5: you know, praising you, not just in front of your team,
- 9:35Speaker 5: but in front of the media. Because he's gonna be
- 9:37Speaker 5: a free agent in eight more regular season games. They're
- 9:40Speaker 5: a playoff team for sure. This gives him an opportunity
- 9:42Speaker 5: to stand up and say, hey, I'm still a quality
- 9:45Speaker 5: starting left tackle.
- 9:46Speaker 4: I want some more money.
- 9:47Speaker 2: He's auditioning a little bit himself.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, let's look at what the Vikings are
- 9:52Speaker 1: going to bring to town. Doug Peterson talked a little bit.
- 9:54Speaker 1: We mentioned Sam Darnold's kind of his resurgence that he's
- 9:57Speaker 1: had in Minnesota. And Doun talked to a little bit
- 9:59Speaker 1: about what Sam Donald brings to the game.
- 10:03Speaker 8: I think the talent around him, you know, I mean
- 10:04Speaker 8: that helps, right, I mean just having having having the
- 10:07Speaker 8: run game, the defense, the way the defense is played,
- 10:12Speaker 8: you know, being in coach O'Connell's system and in the
- 10:16Speaker 8: way he calls plays, I think is helpful. And and look,
- 10:20Speaker 8: he's he's always been. He's always been a solid quarterback
- 10:25Speaker 8: and whatever team role he's on, I just think now
- 10:29Speaker 8: he's learning, maturing and in showing.
- 10:33Speaker 4: That he's capable of doing it.
- 10:34Speaker 8: And that's what you're seeing on on film, you know,
- 10:37Speaker 8: taking care of the football. That's a big part of
- 10:39Speaker 8: this thing. And and to yes, Justin Jefferson is a
- 10:43Speaker 8: you know, obviously an elite receiver in this league that
- 10:47Speaker 8: you know can can recavoc on you.
- 10:49Speaker 1: John ruin this press conference yesterday, I think he laughed
- 10:52Speaker 1: when someone asked him about what Sam Donald brings and
- 10:53Speaker 1: he just laughed and said, well, Justin Jefferson helped us
- 10:55Speaker 1: a lot, and I'm sure it does well.
- 10:57Speaker 6: So much of this league can be circumstance just Jeffson
- 11:00Speaker 6: certainly helps. He's a guy who's a you know, we
- 11:03Speaker 6: all love to talk about true number one. Well, he's
- 11:06Speaker 6: a true number one, and a lot of guys get
- 11:08Speaker 6: tagged with that and they're not really This guy can
- 11:10Speaker 6: beat double coverage, he can beat defenses that are designed
- 11:14Speaker 6: to stop him. Also, Sam Donald a lot of quarterbacking
- 11:19Speaker 6: in this league. There are guys who can ascend through
- 11:22Speaker 6: weirdness and define an offense as quarterback. There's the other
- 11:27Speaker 6: guys who can thrive in a system that's already there.
- 11:31Speaker 6: This system is already there. There's light going on around.
- 11:33Speaker 6: Sam Donald was able to step in into a calm situation,
- 11:36Speaker 6: which I doubt he had really had before. So again,
- 11:42Speaker 6: the teams that are good know how they want to play.
- 11:46Speaker 6: The Vikings seem to know their identity, they know how
- 11:49Speaker 6: they want to play. It makes them dangerous and Donald's
- 11:52Speaker 6: confidence so it's scary.
- 11:54Speaker 5: Yeah, Listen, when you've already been a bust, right when
- 11:57Speaker 5: you've been shipped out of the door by the team
- 11:58Speaker 5: that drafted you in the top five and then a
- 12:00Speaker 5: backup in Carolina in San Francisco, what do you care
- 12:03Speaker 5: what other people think?
- 12:04Speaker 4: I don't think he does.
- 12:05Speaker 5: When I watch him play, he looks like a guy
- 12:07Speaker 5: who is out there just functioning, as John said, in
- 12:10Speaker 5: a system was really good football players around him, playing
- 12:13Speaker 5: and having fun. I mean, he's learned in six previous
- 12:16Speaker 5: seasons how to play the game at this level, and
- 12:18Speaker 5: now he's got a legitimate opportunity. Remember he wasn't supposed
- 12:22Speaker 5: to necessarily be the starter. The McCarthy kid who was
- 12:25Speaker 5: drafted out of Michigan with the knee injury, was supposed
- 12:29Speaker 5: to be the starter this year. So they plug him
- 12:31Speaker 5: in and he goes in, plays great.
- 12:32Speaker 4: There's a little Kurt Warner to it, right.
- 12:33Speaker 5: If you remember back in the day the Rams signed
- 12:37Speaker 5: Trent Green to be their quarterback. He gets hurt in
- 12:41Speaker 5: the Rams thought, oh my god, it's all over, and
- 12:42Speaker 5: then Kurt Warner steps in and becomes a Hall of Famer.
- 12:45Speaker 5: So you know, for him, he's in the perfect situation.
- 12:48Speaker 5: And six years now, seven years into his NFL career,
- 12:51Speaker 5: he just gets to go play.
- 12:52Speaker 6: Yeah, so much of its maturity. Yeah, six years. He
- 12:55Speaker 6: now realizes he said nothing to lose, he can come in.
- 13:00Speaker 6: He makes a mistake. Why every thought it was my names?
- 13:02Speaker 6: Yeah mistake. Anyways, supposed to be here and I don't
- 13:04Speaker 6: have to be a hero. So he's got his dough
- 13:08Speaker 6: Now he can.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Go put let's touch to the other side of the football.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Brian Flora is now their new defensive coordinator coming in
- 13:14Speaker 1: this season has given them a different look and and
- 13:18Speaker 1: Doug spoke a little bit about what that defense looks
- 13:20Speaker 1: like now.
- 13:22Speaker 8: I think coach Fory has just done a great job
- 13:24Speaker 8: with the personnel there. He's found roles for their guys.
- 13:30Speaker 8: It's a multiple, multiple front disguise defense. They're going to keep,
- 13:37Speaker 8: you know, the lid on it. You know, they're not gonna,
- 13:39Speaker 8: you know, let a lot of explosive passages, which I
- 13:42Speaker 8: think was a year ago, you know, was was was
- 13:45Speaker 8: part of the part of the issue there. But they've
- 13:48Speaker 8: done a great job I think just just moving guys
- 13:53Speaker 8: around on defense and we got veteran guys in spots
- 13:56Speaker 8: that our leaders there. That's a physical group and it's
- 14:01Speaker 8: another top challenge.
- 14:02Speaker 1: For offense, definitely getting the physicality out of them. I'm
- 14:06Speaker 1: familiar with Floors is some of his coaching work in
- 14:08Speaker 1: New England John and he talked about it on the
- 14:10Speaker 1: podcast there today with Bucky Brooks and just what he's
- 14:12Speaker 1: been able to dial up with them and for lack
- 14:14Speaker 1: of a better word, basically attacking their opponents and kind
- 14:17Speaker 1: of making them making those teams adjust to them.
- 14:19Speaker 4: Well, they're really good. They they they blitz.
- 14:22Speaker 6: Well, they've got I think five or three guys with
- 14:25Speaker 6: five or more sacks, so it's hard to identify who
- 14:30Speaker 6: you have to double. The key to playing this scheme
- 14:36Speaker 6: is you have to be patient and and and you
- 14:38Speaker 6: have to be very smart and make good quick decisions
- 14:41Speaker 6: in the short passing game.
- 14:43Speaker 4: Uh. I think mac Jones can do that.
- 14:45Speaker 6: I mean it's it's uh, this shapes up to me
- 14:48Speaker 6: as a game the Jaguars can stay competitive in if
- 14:51Speaker 6: they're smart and patient.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Uh.
- 14:53Speaker 6: I think Matt can do that if he's the guy.
- 14:56Speaker 6: Uh if he stays over his feet, so to speak,
- 15:00Speaker 6: I try to do too much say in the game
- 15:02Speaker 6: plan and not panic, which I think he can do.
- 15:05Speaker 5: Explorer is the most successful coach to leave New England.
- 15:09Speaker 5: I mean lots of guys did.
- 15:11Speaker 1: He obviously didn't have success as a head coach when
- 15:12Speaker 1: he went to Miami, but I would argue he's one
- 15:15Speaker 1: of the better coordinators and what he's been able to
- 15:17Speaker 1: do Obviously he was in the Steelers last year as well,
- 15:19Speaker 1: and he when we talk about how we want our
- 15:23Speaker 1: team to be physical and tackle hard and finish, he
- 15:25Speaker 1: always gets that out of players and he's really creative. Obviously,
- 15:28Speaker 1: the Malcolm Butler play in the Super Bowl, he was
- 15:30Speaker 1: kind of in charge of the secondary at that point
- 15:32Speaker 1: when he was able to. I mean, Malcolm Butler undrafted
- 15:34Speaker 1: free agent out of small college in Mississippi, so he
- 15:39Speaker 1: gets a lot out of what he has and I
- 15:41Speaker 1: think plays to their strengths and gets.
- 15:43Speaker 2: The most of his players.
- 15:44Speaker 5: I think it's also worth noting that they let the
- 15:46Speaker 5: Neil Hunter walk in free agency, right and are fine apparently, Yeah, right,
- 15:50Speaker 5: which is a great lesson, a great lesson. They knew
- 15:52Speaker 5: what they had, they knew what they wanted, and incomes
- 15:57Speaker 5: a new defensive coordinator and without the Neil Hunter puts
- 16:00Speaker 5: together maybe the best defense in football.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Gotta love it.
- 16:03Speaker 5: He was impressive, very much.
- 16:05Speaker 1: So is all right, say us, we're gonna give you
- 16:06Speaker 1: our prediction. That's to what the headlines are gonna be
- 16:08Speaker 1: on Monday morning. Jag Zam brought to you in part
- 16:19Speaker 1: by Settith, Florida's trusted and reliable moving company setteth it's
- 16:22Speaker 1: proud to be the official moving company of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 16:25Speaker 1: To get a guaranteed quote, you can visit set itth
- 16:27Speaker 1: dot com.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Slash Jacks.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Welcome back, and we're going to do our best to
- 16:38Speaker 1: predict the future as we look to what the headlines
- 16:41Speaker 1: are going to be on Monday morning after this game
- 16:43Speaker 1: against the Vikings on Sunday, Brian, what do you think
- 16:45Speaker 1: we're going to be talking about?
- 16:46Speaker 5: Well, as Afford too mentioned, I on Monday thought that
- 16:50Speaker 5: the Jaguars were close last week and just said finally
- 16:53Speaker 5: they pushed through. I predicted a win on Monday, so
- 16:55Speaker 5: I'm sticking with it.
- 16:56Speaker 4: I go with white hat Hero.
- 16:58Speaker 5: They're wearing white helmets for the very first time in
- 17:00Speaker 5: franchise history. Was weird to be on the practice field
- 17:03Speaker 5: to just see those. I'm gonna stick with the assumption
- 17:05Speaker 5: that Matt Jones will make his first start in a
- 17:08Speaker 5: Jaguars uniform, and I think he makes a play and
- 17:13Speaker 5: keeps the Vikings off balance early on, the Jaguars get
- 17:16Speaker 5: their offense going and find a way to shock people
- 17:21Speaker 5: and beat a really good Vikings team.
- 17:24Speaker 6: Well, much like you, Brian, I'm an eternal optimist, and
- 17:28Speaker 6: this prediction of mine is full of hope.
- 17:31Speaker 4: And so I'm I'm predicting a Jaguars a win this
- 17:37Speaker 4: Tiger's time. Look at the alteration. I like it, hissed Tiger's.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Time would be better.
- 17:43Speaker 6: But you know, Brian Thomas Junior coming out was sort
- 17:49Speaker 6: of like Justin Jefferson in the sense that he was
- 17:52Speaker 6: sort of the second LSU receiver in his draft. And
- 17:56Speaker 6: I think if the Jaguars are gonna win, they may
- 17:59Speaker 6: have to gear the offense more toward BTJ than they've
- 18:03Speaker 6: done in the past. So maybe this is when we're
- 18:07Speaker 6: sitting there watching NFL Network on Sunday night, when they're
- 18:09Speaker 6: talking about Brian Thomas Junior instead of Justin Jefferson.
- 18:13Speaker 5: Wow, that would be something mackwell, and it really would.
- 18:16Speaker 6: You could see that being a storyline. That wouldn't mean
- 18:19Speaker 6: BTAJA is better yet, right, but if this is a
- 18:22Speaker 6: step toward getting there, I think he can get there
- 18:24Speaker 6: and he can be that guy. Maybe this is the
- 18:26Speaker 6: week he starts to ascend to that level. He's already
- 18:29Speaker 6: a pretty good level.
- 18:30Speaker 5: You were in New England at the time the Jaguars
- 18:33Speaker 5: passed on Jordan Jefferson or Justin Jefferson. Jordan Jefferson's in
- 18:37Speaker 5: their locker room. Now that didn't pass on him on
- 18:39Speaker 5: Justin Jefferson in favor of Caleb on Jason. Imagine if
- 18:43Speaker 5: you had both of them.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Well, we're gonna get to see it live and in person.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Yeah, but we got our own LSU wide receiver and
- 18:48Speaker 1: after as we mentioned, very talented Mac likes to throw
- 18:50Speaker 1: it up too, so we might be able to see
- 18:51Speaker 1: some of that if he does.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Get to play. Mine is more of the matchup. We
- 18:54Speaker 2: talked a little bit about.
- 18:55Speaker 1: It already, but it means a friendly fire between Josh
- 18:58Speaker 1: Heinzeln and Cam Robinson because those two went up against
- 19:01Speaker 1: each other in practice for what five six years now,
- 19:03Speaker 1: so they know each other quite well. I don't know
- 19:06Speaker 1: if any love is gonna be lost, because as I mentioned,
- 19:07Speaker 1: Cam's probably gonna be as hype as he's been for
- 19:09Speaker 1: a game and quite some time, and I think Josh
- 19:11Speaker 1: is taking that on himself, is gonna be going at
- 19:13Speaker 1: him most of the day as well. So I don't
- 19:15Speaker 1: know which way this is gonna go. I know this
- 19:16Speaker 1: is something I'm gonna need watching whenever they're on the field.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Together and keeping my eye on.
- 19:22Speaker 2: All right, stay with us.
- 19:23Speaker 1: We we'll talk a little bit more about this game
- 19:25Speaker 1: on Sunday, the Spooch Service matchup and what you can expect.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Sam, Welcome back into Jags Am. Today.
- 19:40Speaker 1: We are brought to you by dream Seats. Jags fans

- 19:47Speaker 2: Zip Chair is furniture for fans.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Also, this week's game against the Vikings is brought to
- 19:51Speaker 1: you by CSX CX CSX how Tomorrow Moves. It's gonna
- 19:56Speaker 1: be the Slute to Service game for the Jags and
- 19:59Speaker 1: also the first first time ever, as Brian mentioned, they're
- 20:01Speaker 1: gonna be wearing white helmets.
- 20:04Speaker 2: People feel very strongly one way or the other on these.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Unfortunately, they cannot wear all white uniforms because you have
- 20:09Speaker 1: to wear it with one of your alternate uniforms. So
- 20:10Speaker 1: I believe it's going to be white helmets, black jerseys,
- 20:13Speaker 1: white pants, white socks, white shoes. Imagine, so everything else
- 20:17Speaker 1: except the jersey will be white, is what they're kind.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Of going for. Do you know thirty years I fail
- 20:22Speaker 2: yet I'll have to see it with the whole uniform.
- 20:24Speaker 2: I don't know how I feel.
- 20:24Speaker 5: Thirty years ago they had a boardroom in the trailers
- 20:28Speaker 5: when the stadium was under construction with all sorts of
- 20:30Speaker 5: combinations out, and there was no white helmet.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Right.
- 20:34Speaker 5: There was a silver helmet and a black helmet, but
- 20:35Speaker 5: no white helmet. So when I turned the corner yesterday,
- 20:37Speaker 5: I had no concept of what it was going to
- 20:40Speaker 5: look like to see white helmets. And I literally kind
- 20:41Speaker 5: of did this and looked back at me. It just
- 20:44Speaker 5: looked so strange. I had never contemplated a white helmet.
- 20:47Speaker 4: I kind of like, it's cool.
- 20:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I'd like to see it with all white. I'd
- 20:52Speaker 5: like to see it with maybe the teal tops and
- 20:54Speaker 5: the teal pants. But you know, when you're talking about
- 20:57Speaker 5: uniform combinations in November, it means that your football team
- 21:00Speaker 5: is not meeting expectations.
- 21:02Speaker 4: So we can do out there breaking that passes in
- 21:04Speaker 4: a white helmet.
- 21:06Speaker 2: It's going to be doing it.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Why not.
- 21:09Speaker 6: It's I mean, I love the black helmet of the Jaguars.
- 21:15Speaker 6: I don't think that'll ever go away. You never say never,
- 21:17Speaker 6: but this is a cool change up.
- 21:19Speaker 5: Here's the question, do you ever foresee the day when
- 21:21Speaker 5: the NFL loosens the.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Rules and you can work fun.
- 21:25Speaker 5: Well, yeah, this thing goes more international, and it's only
- 21:28Speaker 5: going to get more international. I think there'll be a
- 21:30Speaker 5: day where there can be a team or two that
- 21:32Speaker 5: likes the Oregon approach and has four or five different combinations.
- 21:35Speaker 2: They put together.
- 21:36Speaker 4: It's a long time coming.
- 21:37Speaker 2: You know what.
- 21:38Speaker 4: I I don't think so.
- 21:40Speaker 5: I think the international thing is going to drive a
- 21:42Speaker 5: lot of innovation in NFL thinking.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Let's just bring the throwbacks back. Let's start with that.
- 21:47Speaker 2: I think that's a good place to start.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Jagger's is gonna take on the Vikings on Sunday. We
- 21:51Speaker 1: will be back on Monday to recap everything for you.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Enjoy the game. We'll see then
