- 0:02Speaker 2: I am Sherry Mackie, and it's time right now for
- 0:05Speaker 2: today's word. From shame to sonship, From shame to sonship.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Two Samuel nine and eight says mamphibis Chef fell to
- 0:18Speaker 2: the ground before the king. Should the king show kindness
- 0:22Speaker 2: to a dead dog like me? He exclaimed, You know,
- 0:28Speaker 2: maphibis Chef's story is one of the most powerful illustrations
- 0:32Speaker 2: of God's grace and restoration in the Bible.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Y'all.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Mamphibis Chef was born the grandson of King Saul and
- 0:43Speaker 2: the son of Jonathan Royalty by birth.
- 0:48Speaker 1: But after an accident as.
- 0:50Speaker 2: A child left him crippled, he was taken away and
- 0:53Speaker 2: lived in a place called Lodobar, a baron forgotten land
- 0:59Speaker 2: for years, but Fibi Chef lived with shame, brokenness, and
- 1:04Speaker 2: feelings of unworthiness. He had gone from the palace to poverty,
- 1:10Speaker 2: from confidence to condemnation. Then one day somebody said, one
- 1:17Speaker 2: day everything changed. King David, remembering his covenant with Jonathan,
- 1:23Speaker 2: set form a fibis Chef. Imagine the fear, Imagine the
- 1:27Speaker 2: confusion he must have felt as he was brought before
- 1:31Speaker 2: the king. He fell to the ground and said, should
- 1:35Speaker 2: the King show kindness to a dead dog like me?
- 1:39Speaker 2: See that's what Shane does. Shame distorts how we see ourselves.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Shame convinces us that our past mistakes, our past failures,
- 1:52Speaker 2: or our brokenness makes us unworthy of love, unworthy of blessings,
- 1:58Speaker 2: and unworthy of restoring. But David wasn't interested in mamphibis
- 2:04Speaker 2: Chef's passed.
- 2:05Speaker 1: He was focused on his position.
- 2:09Speaker 2: He said, don't be afraid, you will always eat at
- 2:13Speaker 2: the King's table. See that's what God says to us today.
- 2:18Speaker 2: We may come before him feeling unworthy, weighed down by
- 2:22Speaker 2: guilt or regret, but he calls us his.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Sons, his daughters.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Through Jesus Christ, he has restored us to our rightful place.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Romans aid, and one reminds.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Us there is now no condemnation for those who are
- 2:38Speaker 2: in Christ.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Jesus.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Maybe, like mamphibis Chef, you've been living in a mental
- 2:44Speaker 2: or emotional lodo bar, a place of discouragement, a place
- 2:49Speaker 2: of shame, a place of defeat. You've allowed a dead
- 2:52Speaker 2: dog mentality to tell you you're not enough, that you
- 2:56Speaker 2: failed too much, or that God can never use you again.
- 3:01Speaker 1: But here's the truth. You are still royalty.
- 3:06Speaker 2: You've been adopted into the family of God, and your
- 3:09Speaker 2: seat at the King's table is still reserved. So lift
- 3:12Speaker 2: your head up. The King is calling your name. He's
- 3:16Speaker 2: not forgotten about you. He's not focused on where you've been,
- 3:20Speaker 2: but he's focused on where he's taken you. His grace
- 3:24Speaker 2: is greater than your guilt. His love is stronger than
- 3:27Speaker 2: your past. And you are not condemned. You are chosen,
- 3:30Speaker 2: You are cherished, and you are crowned with mercy.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Come on, Jesus, Father, thank.
- 3:35Speaker 2: You for your amazing grace that restores that redeems. Thank
- 3:40Speaker 2: you for calling us out of shame into your sonship.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Help us God, to stop seeing ourselves through the lives
- 3:47Speaker 2: of our past, and to start seeing ourselves as you
- 3:49Speaker 2: see us, loved, forgiven and free. God, we declare that
- 3:54Speaker 2: there is no condemnation for us in Christ, Jesus. We
- 3:57Speaker 2: are seated at your table except made whole in Jesus' name.
