- 0:05This is something that happened to me in my time as a college student.
- 0:09I don' t think I' ve ever been the kind of person who
- 0:13believes very much in the paranormal. Although I am not a total skeptic,
- 0:17I have always believed that most of the paranormal experiences people live have logical explanation
- 0:23and, in fact, I myself, for a long time believed that this
- 0:28story should have a logical explanation. But recently I saw a video about those
- 0:33kids with black eyes and now I' m almost convinced I had a meeting
- 0:38with them back then. As I mentioned earlier, I was studying at the
- 0:45University and I had gotten a night job at a convenience store, but it
- 0:50' s more like a franchise. Anyway, I worked so I could pay
- 0:54for my studies, it was a very good job for me, since my
- 0:58boss was very kind and I had no problem with him doing my college work
- 1:03and homework there. Besides, the night work, there was very quiet.
- 1:08I just had to close the door and attend to anyone who came for something,
- 1:14and apart from some drunk people who were upset and demanded alcoholic beverages,
- 1:19even though I could no longer sell them, I had the fortune of never
- 1:26having suffered any assault or anything that would jeopardize my integrity. I remember that
- 1:32night in particular, it was quieter than usual. It was as if everyone
- 1:36around me had agreed to lock themselves in their homes and sleep until the next
- 1:41day. He didn' t even listen to motorcycles or cars, and on
- 1:48top of that, he didn' t have any homework or work to do
- 1:52that day either, so he was really bored. I remember I started doing
- 1:55different activities so I wouldn' t fall asleep, like sorting the linen all
- 2:00the shelves, although it wasn' t my turn to do it. I
- 2:05don' t know there was something on that night that was causing me a
- 2:08little restlessness. It was like I was the only person in the world that
- 2:13didn' t listen to anything, so to try to feel a little less,
- 2:17I just put a little low- volume music to keep cleaning the shelves
- 2:23so I could hear someone coming to the window to ask me for something.
- 2:28I remember well, I finished doing all that and I still felt that feeling
- 2:32of loneliness in the place and there was no way to get rid of it.
- 2:37So I took my phone and tried to text some of my friends,
- 2:43hoping they would be awake or available to talk, so that I could be
- 2:47distracted, as I was getting too uncomfortable, even if nothing strange really happened.
- 2:54I sent several messages, but none of them answered me. And I
- 2:59did not have anything to do anymore and at almost three o' clock in
- 3:02the morning, I sat in a chair behind the counter and started playing with
- 3:07my phone trying to stay awake and also trying to get that restlessness that I
- 3:15had to leave. I remember I was achieving my goal, but at some
- 3:20point the game got stuck making everything quiet. Again I was about to force
- 3:25my phone off. When I suddenly heard something, someone touched the window and
- 3:32although it was something I listened to practically every day in that job, this
- 3:38time I was startled even almost fell out of the chair because of the scare.
- 3:42I turned around and saw that it was about what seemed to be two
- 3:46children and, although moments ago, I really wanted some client to come in
- 3:53to take away that feeling of loneliness. Seeing those kids behind the window,
- 3:55all I could think of was that the sound situation was even weirder. As
- 4:01I mentioned earlier, it was almost 3 a m, so it made no
- 4:06sense for children to be alone on the street. At that time I watched
- 4:11them from the distance of the counter for a couple of minutes without getting close
- 4:16to them. However, both played insistently again, so I had no choice
- 4:21but to start walking towards them to see what they wanted. And as I
- 4:29approached, I could see certain things. First of all, they both had
- 4:34a grassy green sweatshirt, without any kind of print, but it looked like
- 4:40they were pretty big on both of them. Likewise, they were wearing the
- 4:44hat of such a hoodie in such a way that their head was almost lost
- 4:48within it. Still, by the type of hair they had, it could
- 4:54be distinguished that it was a boy and a girl I did not calculate more
- 4:58than ten years. But there was also one detail that I only realized once
- 5:03that I could recapitulate all the facts that I am narrating was that the light
- 5:08that lit the outside was tinking, which made it even more difficult to see
- 5:14their faces. I don' t know how to explain it I could see
- 5:18the face, but it was like I could only distinguish very general traits from
- 5:21the two. I remember well that the closer I got, the more chill
- 5:28I felt and something inside of me told me that I should not go any
- 5:30further. Actually, I did. I stayed at a safe distance of about
- 5:35a meter and a half and asked them what they wanted. They both remained
- 5:40silent for a few minutes before the child spoke. This boy, in fact,
- 5:46was quite polite, looked back and finally told me that his parents had
- 5:50left them by mistake at the nearby gas station one or two kilometers from this
- 5:57place. He also told me that they were very scared and that he could
- 6:03let them in so that they could call their parents. The truth is that
- 6:06at first I did think about opening up and that the child was really very
- 6:12polite, he used very kind words and he knew how to address people.
- 6:16In addition, there was something in his voice that seemed to pour out a
- 6:21lot of trust and credibility, but just as I was going to take a
- 6:28step towards them, I felt too much chills on my neck. It was
- 6:30like something told me I shouldn' t do it. So a little sorry
- 6:33to them and also feeling a little silly, I told them that they could
- 6:39dictate to me the number of their parents and I could talk to them.
- 6:42At that moment. However, at that time they both turned to see each
- 6:46other and told me that yes, please, I could let them pass.
- 6:51On this occasion, the girl was the one who spoke and with a rather
- 6:56sweet and begging voice, she told me that there was someone who was following
- 7:00them from the gas station and the truth is that they were too scared,
- 7:05they just wanted to come in and call their parents. I turned to the
- 7:10window on one side to see if there was no one stalking those children,
- 7:15but I saw no one, although when I turned around again, I could
- 7:18notice something, and it is that both looked at each other in a strange
- 7:24way, as they seemed to be smiling at each other, but not in
- 7:28a laughing way. It was more like when both children know something as accomplices.
- 7:32That scared me even more, as I suspected something and his attitude was
- 7:38not that of frightened children who needed help from someone. So I went back
- 7:44a bit and told them I couldn' t let them pass by company orders,
- 7:48but if they deserved the number of their parents I' d call them.
- 7:51At that time, then I could notice that both of them completely changed
- 7:57their attitude. Now they looked upset. I remember that the boy put his
- 8:01hand against the glass of the door and then, he started beating him with
- 8:07his palm open over and over again telling me a lot of insults. In
- 8:11addition, he told me what kind of human being I was by not providing
- 8:16help and protection to young children like them. And after that, the girl
- 8:20did, too. At the time I was pretty scared, but I remember
- 8:26I didn' t think it was paranormal. Rather, for a moment I
- 8:31imagined that they might be children who were being used as lures to assault.
- 8:37So all I could think of was going back a couple of steps and warning
- 8:41them if they didn' t leave at the time, I' d call
- 8:46the police. I even showed them my phone so they could see that I
- 8:50wasn' t joking about it. But right there, when they both raised
- 8:54their faces, I could see it. His eyes were completely black. I
- 8:58don' t know. It was only about the Iris, absolutely the whole
- 9:03eye was black. To this day I cannot understand how I did not notice
- 9:07this detail from the very first moment. I just know that at the time
- 9:11I was so scared that all I did was run to the cellar area and
- 9:16lock myself in there. The scariest thing about that night, at least for
- 9:22me, was that even when I was already in the cellar, I could
- 9:26hear how they touched the window. Again and again they had used that kind
- 9:30tone of voice to beg me to please let them in and that they needed
- 9:35my help. I tried calling the police. However, it was as if
- 9:41my phone was failing, since I had no signal and no call or message
- 9:46came out. The only thing I could hear for the next few hours was
- 9:52that voice of the children telling me they needed to come in, while knocking
- 9:58on the glass of the door over and over and they didn' t stop
- 10:03until it started to dawn. I told my boss and also my colleagues,
- 10:07but everyone took care to tell me that maybe it had been a joke of
- 10:11very bad taste, since in the cameras children are observed, but not their
- 10:16faces. They' ve never uploaded a video of that. I don'
- 10:20t know today. As I said before, I' ve always tried to
- 10:26give you a logical explanation like that it was a joke or that maybe because
- 10:31of the suggestion that I was misinterpreted the situation. But recently I saw some
- 10:33videos of people claiming to have seen these kids, just like me, so
- 10:39now I think maybe what I lived doesn' t have a logical explanation.
- 10:50I was born and lived practically all my childhood in Mexico, more exactly in
- 10:56Hidalgo State. My mom met Aaron when I was nine years old and since
- 11:01then he was like a father to me, since my real father basically disappeared
- 11:05as soon as he knew about my existence. So it was good news for
- 11:11me when my mom told me they were getting married. But that good news
- 11:16of having aaron permanently in our lives also came with bad news. They wanted
- 11:22us to move to America, specifically to Los Angeles. I' m not
- 11:28going to say exactly where, for sure, but the point was that we
- 11:33should leave and I was very sad because I was very close to my family
- 11:37in Mexico, as well as to my cousins and friends, but at that
- 11:43time I was too small for my vote to count on something, so my
- 11:46mom ended up doing what she thought was right, but to tell the truth,
- 11:52moving from Mexico to Los Angeles was pretty good for me. I quickly
- 11:56adapted, learned the language, and made new friends by the time the story
- 12:01that followed occurred. I was sixteen years old and by that time I was
- 12:07already a teenager and, although I am not proud to admit it, at
- 12:13that time I was going through my stage of rebellion, or rather it was
- 12:18my attempt to pretend to be an adult. I remember that even though Halloween
- 12:22was something I really liked and always had plans with my friends, even if
- 12:26it wasn' t about going for candy, I always had a plan.
- 12:31However, that particular year, I already felt too big to go out on
- 12:37Halloween, as someone who considered himself mature decided not to do anything that day.
- 12:43I didn' t make any plans, nor did I have any intention
- 12:46of getting out. I remember both Aaron and my mom told me that I
- 12:50could go with them to a Halloween party that they had been invited to,
- 12:56although I did want to go, as it was a party with vision.
- 13:00At that time I was very attached to the idea that I was too mature
- 13:05and sophisticated to continue celebrating Halloween, so I said no, and although they
- 13:09insisted on me, I stood by my position and finally both gave up and
- 13:16told me that I was fine. If I wanted to stay home that year.
- 13:20I remember Aaron telling me that if I wasn' t going to leave
- 13:24the house, then I would take care of giving candy to the children.
- 13:28I told him I was fine, because I always liked that sweet or trick
- 13:31thing. From the first moment I got to L A. I really liked
- 13:37going to order candy and I also liked seeing the kids in their costumes at
- 13:41the time. Personally, when I saw that the costume was very good,
- 13:48then I made up for it by giving them the best sweets or sweets that
- 13:52were usually given to every child. So that wasn' t a problem for
- 13:56me. That night they both left and I was alone at home. At
- 14:01first, I really felt pretty bad, since a part of me really wanted
- 14:07to go with my friends to see what they were going to do that halloween
- 14:11or at least go to the party with my mom, but as I had
- 14:15already made the decision and knew there was no turning back. All I had
- 14:20left was resignation. I remember I decided to make microwave popcorn and watch a
- 14:26horror movie hoping to rescue my Halloween night a little. So I was doing
- 14:31that when they knocked on the door and without thinking too much about it,
- 14:37I went to open up and handed them the candy. That first batch of
- 14:39kids. He had worked hard on his costumes and I remember giving them the
- 14:45best candy he had at the time. And after they left, I closed
- 14:48the door and continued to do my thing. I think that night I opened
- 14:54the door about fifteen or twenty times in just an hour and a half on
- 15:00Halloween there are some teenagers who don' t take the time to dress up
- 15:07don' t even make the slightest attempt. For doing so, but Aaron
- 15:09had taught me to give them one or two sweets, even if they were
- 15:13large, if they did not wear disguise as it prevented them from throwing eggs
- 15:18at your windows or something worse. I don' t know elsewhere, but
- 15:22at least in my neighborhood, this was very common, so it was better
- 15:26to give them what they were going to look for, although that year was
- 15:31so long that I ran out of any candy in a short time. So,
- 15:35fearing that someone would ask and giving him nothing, they would attack the
- 15:39house. I turned off the entrance light to make you think there was no
- 15:43one and at least protect the house. I even turned off the TV and
- 15:48put on my hearing aids so I wouldn' t make any noise that could
- 15:54tell me I was watching some unimportant videos when they knocked on the doorbell.
- 15:58I kept quiet in the hope that they would understand that there was no one
- 16:03at home and just leave. However, they kept playing and playing, so
- 16:07a little screwed up, I got up from the couch and walked cautiously to
- 16:14the door so that they could not listen and I looked through the peephole to
- 16:18verify who it was, for a moment I thought maybe it could be Arón
- 16:23or my mom, who for some reason had lost her keys. But as
- 16:26I looked out, the only thing I could see was three girls. I
- 16:30could not see their faces well, since two of them were wearing a hoodie
- 16:34and the third one was wearing a cap that made it difficult for me to
- 16:40see her. But it still looked like they were little girls. I'
- 16:45m calculating about seven or eight years. It became very strange to me,
- 16:48since none of them was disguised and, as young girls, I didn'
- 16:52t expect them to be without any kind of disguise I think I stayed watching
- 16:59them for about five or days seconds, without making any noise and during that
- 17:04time they didn' t ring the bell. I retreated with the same caution
- 17:07as I had gone so that they wouldn' t listen to me, but
- 17:11as soon as I took just two steps to get away from the door,
- 17:15they knocked the doorbell again. It was almost as if they knew that I
- 17:18was there, since one of them spoke and told me that some children had
- 17:22stolen all their sweets and that they wanted to come into the house to wait
- 17:26for their parents there, since those children were still chasing them, they asked
- 17:33me if I could help them. At first I was going to because they
- 17:37were very small girls and I didn' t think they posed any kind of
- 17:41threat. I even remember stretching my hand toward the door knob to open it,
- 17:47although I quickly realized that they had no way of knowing that I had
- 17:52already seen them or that there was someone at home, because, as I
- 17:56said before, I had done everything I could to make sure that it seemed
- 18:02like there was no one in the house. So that got really weird.
- 18:07I think I stayed about a minute trying to figure out how to act when
- 18:12they kept insisting on ringing the bell over and over again they kept telling me
- 18:18they needed my help waiting there for their parents, who were afraid and very
- 18:23cold because they didn' t know very well how to act. I decided
- 18:26to turn on the outside light and told them that I could not open the
- 18:30door because my parents were forbidden to do so, but that they could wait
- 18:36there without any problems, they could even sit on the rocking chair that we
- 18:41had on the porch while their parents arrived for them. After I told them
- 18:45all that, everything was quiet and I was about to pop back out to
- 18:48see if they were gone. When they called the doorbell again and repeated to
- 18:53me exactly the same as some children, they had stolen their sweets and wanted
- 18:59to come into the house to wait for their parents. So, thinking you
- 19:03hadn' t heard me. The first time I told them again, but
- 19:08instead of understanding, they knocked on the door again. Over and over again.
- 19:12I told them this time that they could sit in the rocking chair,
- 19:17that we had in the porch while their parents arrived and that they did want
- 19:22me to call them to hurry, but that I could not open the door.
- 19:26I don' t know why I did that, although I will always
- 19:30appreciate that something really inside of me told me that for no reason should I
- 19:37open that door, but they insisted again by ringing the doorbell and on that
- 19:41occasion they also started knocking directly on the door, insisting in a very begging
- 19:48way with a voice that really made me feel very guilty for not opening the
- 19:52door to them and, in fact, I was about to do it,
- 19:56but that voice inside of me told me not to do it. So I
- 19:57didn' t. I just kept repeating that it was okay, that they
- 20:03could wait there, but that I couldn' t open the door, but
- 20:07they kept knocking and knocking. Finally, I was already frustrated and also very
- 20:12frightened, I told them that I would not open them for any reason and
- 20:17that it was time to leave. On that occasion, I had already become
- 20:19firmer and at that time they stopped knocking on the door thinking that perhaps they
- 20:25had already left. I went to the door and I looked up at the
- 20:29peephole and they were still there, but the three of them were staring at
- 20:34the door knob. It was like they knew that I was seeing them,
- 20:38because the moment I looked up I could see that their eyes were completely black.
- 20:44And not only that, but, when I looked up at that moment,
- 20:48they smiled with a smile that was not normal and began to laugh in
- 20:52a demonic way, a smile that came from hell itself and after that they
- 20:59ran out of there. At that moment I was so scared that I only
- 21:04closed everything again and locked myself in my room praying everything I knew, until
- 21:08Aaron and my mother arrived I told them what happened, but they didn'
- 21:12t believe me and they told me that most likely someone had tried to make
- 21:18a Halloween joke and that I had fallen. But to this day it gives
- 21:22me a lot of chill to remember that night and those girls and I really
- 21:29hope I don' t experience something like that again. Stories written and adapted
