Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to The Edge. I'm your boy, Michael Parsons,
- 0:02Speaker 1: and I'm with my boy, Q Avery. What it do? Man,
- 0:06Speaker 1: oh man. A lot of stuff's been going on. Two
- 0:11Speaker 1: weeks later, and here we are. Week five is finally completed. Yeah, yeah,
- 0:16Speaker 1: it took a lot. We saw a lot. A lot
- 0:19Speaker 1: of poorly managed games, trades, quarterbacks playing well, quarterbacks playing poorly.
- 0:25Speaker 1: The NFC East, not one win amongst the conference. despite
- 0:32Speaker 1: two teams in the conference playing each other. How do
- 0:35Speaker 1: you feel about that? I'm not going to lie. It's
- 0:38Speaker 1: been bad ball. It's been bad ball. Philly, that was
- 0:45Speaker 1: just a bad luck loss. Up to that point, they
- 0:48Speaker 1: did everything right. With no Saquon, no Devontae Smith. And
- 0:53Speaker 1: they were going to beat a top AFC team with
- 0:55Speaker 1: eight seconds left. Just... You just got tipped your hat.
- 0:58Speaker 1: That was just a great return. Just bad luck. Like,
- 1:00Speaker 1: we were just talking about it. Dude get tackled one
- 1:02Speaker 1: second left. It's almost like you should have let him
- 1:04Speaker 1: try to score a little bit more. That would have
- 1:06Speaker 1: been a play. You give far more grace to coaches
- 1:10Speaker 1: than I do. I think Serrani handled that last two
- 1:15Speaker 1: minutes pretty poorly. I don't mind the decision to kick
- 1:18Speaker 1: it down the field. Your special teams got to make plays.
- 1:23Speaker 1: And that's what we talk about where your players have
- 1:25Speaker 1: to show up, right? And I just told you this earlier.
- 1:30Speaker 1: It was like, we just got on the Cowboys about
- 1:35Speaker 1: not putting in play. So now the analytics say you
- 1:37Speaker 1: should put it on play. It's just bad luck. Like,
- 1:41Speaker 1: it's just very bad luck in those situations. But I
- 1:44Speaker 1: think he made the right call. It's just that the problem, like,
- 1:49Speaker 1: you don't expect your return to give up a 50-yard
- 1:51Speaker 1: return with eight seconds left. Like. I mean, he did
- 1:56Speaker 1: take blame for the loss. I think that he knows
- 1:58Speaker 1: there's some things he could have done different. This team
- 2:00Speaker 1: also didn't have a timeout unlike the Ravens. Right? No
- 2:03Speaker 1: timeout changes everything. We could kick it in the end zone.
- 2:07Speaker 1: They're at the 35. They got to push it 25
- 2:08Speaker 1: yards down the field and get out of bounds. That's tough.
- 2:13Speaker 1: It is tough. But I could. I understand his thinking. Yeah.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Let's just make a tackle on special teams. I have
- 2:20Speaker 1: two seconds left. We're good. It's always just that one play.
- 2:26Speaker 1: You know, the NFL comes down to those one plays
- 2:28Speaker 1: all the time. And the NFL's been so good at, like,
- 2:30Speaker 1: controlling that one play. Like, it's almost like they mastered
- 2:34Speaker 1: the perfection of, like, this one play can probably tilt
- 2:37Speaker 1: the game. Yeah, wasn't a good look. Wasn't a good look. Well,
- 2:41Speaker 1: the Eagles have suffered back-to-back losses, back-to-back blown leads. They've
- 2:46Speaker 1: been outscored 46-3 in the second half. What do the
- 2:50Speaker 1: Eagles got to do to get things back right? Second
- 2:52Speaker 1: half adjustments. They've been the worst second half team in
- 2:54Speaker 1: the league. What do second half adjustments look like? Because
- 2:57Speaker 1: I think to us, you only get 15 minutes at halftime.
- 3:01Speaker 1: So what do those adjustments look like? What's working? What's
- 3:04Speaker 1: not working? Simple. If it's not working, let's throw it.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Egos have been the biggest problem between coaching and players
- 3:12Speaker 1: in this league. In what way? Like coaches can't help themselves.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Like they like, They get so full of themselves. They're like, oh, man. Like,
- 3:23Speaker 1: I just got to show I can displace. Like, how
- 3:25Speaker 1: I can put a full. Like, Tampa Bay versus Cowboys.
- 3:31Speaker 1: There's no way I don't take the three-position lead in
- 3:33Speaker 1: the fourth quarter. I don't care how good my team is.
- 3:36Speaker 1: I'm taking the three possessions. How many times do we
- 3:38Speaker 1: have to keep learning that? We learned that in Detroit,
- 3:40Speaker 1: San Fran, and what, the NFC Championship game? Yeah, I did. Like,
- 3:44Speaker 1: I don't understand it. How many times are we going
- 3:47Speaker 1: to learn from this, bro? It's not about. The exclamation point.
- 3:51Speaker 1: It's just about the period. Hello. Like, hello. It's just
- 3:56Speaker 1: about the period. Like, bro, I don't need to keep
- 3:59Speaker 1: fighting when we can go up three possessions. Like, it's
- 4:03Speaker 1: the ego of coaches, of just the mindset, like, let's
- 4:07Speaker 1: just bury him. Sometimes bury him is just doing the
- 4:10Speaker 1: small things right. Just do the little things. Just coaching
- 4:13Speaker 1: the situations. He would have got fired if he'd lost
- 4:15Speaker 1: that game. Because essentially, Dallas was one drop away from...
- 4:19Speaker 1: Taking the lead. And I'm not saying– I don't think
- 4:21Speaker 1: that their rookie quarterback was going to drive down and
- 4:23Speaker 1: score a touchdown or get three to win the game
- 4:26Speaker 1: the way they just went three and out the possession before.
- 4:30Speaker 1: They putting us in some bad situations. Bad situations, bro.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Why risk it? You got a rookie quarterback out there.
- 4:36Speaker 1: So what happened to this Eagles team? We're talking about
- 4:39Speaker 1: them in the second half. But what has gone wrong?
- 4:43Speaker 1: First losing record since 2021. I bet A.J. Brown is
- 4:47Speaker 1: somewhere smiling right now. Man, is he? And I'm going
- 4:52Speaker 1: to say this, not smiling because it's like, oh, I'm
- 4:57Speaker 1: happy the Eagles is doing bad. But smiling of like,
- 5:00Speaker 1: I told y'all, we a good football team, but we
- 5:04Speaker 1: can't execute. Why can't we execute? Like, we had a
- 5:10Speaker 1: whole fan base get mad at A.J. Brown because he
- 5:14Speaker 1: expected better. Like, I never saw something like that. Like
- 5:18Speaker 1: a player expects better out of an organization and they
- 5:22Speaker 1: want to play better. They expect to put better numbers out.
- 5:25Speaker 1: And fans are mad because he expects that. Oh, but
- 5:28Speaker 1: we're winning. Barely only gets by for so long. And
- 5:32Speaker 1: now we're seeing it. You can't just keep barely winning
- 5:36Speaker 1: when you're losing talent. Yeah. Because other teams are talented too.
- 5:42Speaker 1: They have the talent, Dre. They were just barely winning.
- 5:45Speaker 1: They're escaping. Escaping. Like, look at, like, it was a
- 5:50Speaker 1: stat with the Chiefs. It was like two years ago.
- 5:52Speaker 1: They won every game, close game, by one or two
- 5:57Speaker 1: point margin. They won like 10 games or something like that.
- 6:01Speaker 1: You can correct me if I'm wrong. I just know
- 6:02Speaker 1: it's something like that. Last year, they lost every game
- 6:06Speaker 1: by a close margin. And this year, they're doing it again. So,
- 6:12Speaker 1: I'm saying that it's like, you can't, every year, you're
- 6:15Speaker 1: not going to be able to just escape by And
- 6:18Speaker 1: especially when you lose your right tackle. You trade away
- 6:21Speaker 1: a future Hall of Fame wide receiver. The guy that
- 6:24Speaker 1: you want to be number one is out with a hamstring.
- 6:26Speaker 1: You're starting running backs out with a hamstring. And my
- 6:29Speaker 1: thing is, like, the thing that I don't like about
- 6:33Speaker 1: Philly's system is they don't have a workhorse. And they
- 6:39Speaker 1: don't want to make someone just a one workhorse. That's
- 6:43Speaker 1: the ego within the players. Who should it be? And
- 6:45Speaker 1: the organization. Who should that workhorse be for the? Saquon Barkley.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Just put it on his shoulders. Put it on your shoulders.
- 6:51Speaker 1: We're paying you $ 20 million a year. Every other $ 20
- 6:55Speaker 1: million a year, players touching the ball 30 times a game. B. John. B.
- 7:00Speaker 1: John's touching the 30. B. John, I'm sorry. Whether it's
- 7:03Speaker 1: 18 by hand, I'm getting another seven in the air.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Same with Gibbs. They're workhorses. They open the game for
- 7:12Speaker 1: everyone else. But they don't want to go on their
- 7:14Speaker 1: center and just hand it off to Saquon. Because guess what?
- 7:18Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts, it got to be in my hands. Ooh,
- 7:22Speaker 1: that's tough. I got to look out for my boy.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I think Jalen just wants to. If Jalen didn't throw
- 7:27Speaker 1: the ball at all, I think he'd be good with
- 7:28Speaker 1: handing the ball out 50 times if it led to
- 7:30Speaker 1: a win. But that's the thing. But they're not showing that, though.
- 7:36Speaker 1: If that's not working... Do something else. Like, I think
- 7:39Speaker 1: it was a stat. Like, Saquon, he had 15 carries,
- 7:42Speaker 1: 86 yards. He's averaging on the league before the injury
- 7:44Speaker 1: about five yards a carry. Why isn't he touching the ball?
- 7:48Speaker 1: Coaching malpractice. That's ego. Get him to rock. Come on, man. Like,
- 7:54Speaker 1: that's what's wrong with the league. Everybody feel like they
- 7:58Speaker 1: got to eat. Sometimes just being a role player– And
- 8:02Speaker 1: getting paid off someone else is still a good job.
- 8:04Speaker 1: As long as there's food on the table. As long
- 8:06Speaker 1: as there's food on the table. You feel me? Yeah.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Everybody's meant to go to the Hall of Fame. Like,
- 8:11Speaker 1: that's the problem. I'm telling you. It's egos. I hear
- 8:14Speaker 1: you on that. So, we also saw the Bucks beat
- 8:18Speaker 1: the Cowboys with a backup quarterback Thursday night. That was
- 8:22Speaker 1: a bad loss. That's tough. That was a bad loss.
- 8:26Speaker 1: You know, I... You know, I be seeing a lot of,
- 8:33Speaker 1: you know, the Cowboys, Bucks, like all the arguments on
- 8:37Speaker 1: social media. One thing that, like, I don't, like, I
- 8:44Speaker 1: think this is where coaches could be effective. Coaches could
- 8:47Speaker 1: be effective on alignment, assignment, and knowing what you're supposed
- 8:54Speaker 1: to do. Like, they're supposed to help you slow down
- 8:57Speaker 1: your reaction pre-snap and post-snap. But as a player, I
- 9:03Speaker 1: believe your responsibility has to take over at that point.
- 9:06Speaker 1: What are you as an athlete when the ball snap?
- 9:09Speaker 1: So your coach can't come out there and hold your
- 9:13Speaker 1: two gap for you, come tell you if you're getting
- 9:16Speaker 1: fanned to you or fanned away to squeeze. Like those
- 9:19Speaker 1: are your eyes, your steps. You have to be ready
- 9:22Speaker 1: when it comes to Sunday. And I truly believe that
- 9:27Speaker 1: it doesn't matter sometimes what play you're in. It's just
- 9:30Speaker 1: about me against you. Dominate or be dominated. And I
- 9:34Speaker 1: just feel like the Cowboys in those moments just didn't
- 9:39Speaker 1: win those one-on-ones. And it was a game where it
- 9:42Speaker 1: was like we beat ourselves more than they did. 100%. Effort, drops,
- 9:49Speaker 1: falling on explosives. Like, those are things that we can control. Like,
- 9:54Speaker 1: those are things that players can control. Keeping your feet,
- 9:58Speaker 1: proper footwork, technique, winnings. you're in play keeping the eye
- 10:01Speaker 1: discipline effort running to the ball jugs machine watching the
- 10:07Speaker 1: ball hit your hands those are players those are things
- 10:10Speaker 1: that we can control so like i get it like
- 10:13Speaker 1: and this is my problem with like us players and
- 10:16Speaker 1: sometimes i'll be having to check players like yo You
- 10:19Speaker 1: don't realize how good we got it. Like, we're all
- 10:25Speaker 1: lucky to be here, but all our money touches. Don't
- 10:27Speaker 1: forget that. Like, stuff like this causes people jobs, just
- 10:32Speaker 1: like Washington and Giants game. I was just going to
- 10:36Speaker 1: get in there. You talking about coaching. Jaden Daniels probably
- 10:37Speaker 1: caused my man Dan quitting his job, to be honest
- 10:40Speaker 1: with you. That's tough. To be honest with you. And, like,
- 10:44Speaker 1: I'm a big Jaden Daniels fan, but the reality is, like,
- 10:47Speaker 1: He probably cost a lot of people their jobs this
- 10:49Speaker 1: past weekend. So you put none of that on the
- 10:52Speaker 1: coaches here? Hey, bro, and all respectfully, we get coached
- 10:59Speaker 1: so much on these situations that, like, I'm a defensive player,
- 11:04Speaker 1: and this is programmed in me. I know what to
- 11:06Speaker 1: do in those situations. 100%. There's no way I'm taking
- 11:10Speaker 1: a sack with 14 seconds of no timeouts. Like, and then, like,
- 11:14Speaker 1: this is just, and mind you, It would be different
- 11:16Speaker 1: if Jaden Daniels was a rookie. This is your third year.
- 11:19Speaker 1: This is your third year. You've been to the NFC
- 11:22Speaker 1: Championship game. You've been in big moments before. And to me,
- 11:27Speaker 1: even after a sack, you're casually getting up. That was
- 11:31Speaker 1: the thing that frustrated me the most. I'm like, you
- 11:33Speaker 1: just took a sack with 14. Look at the play.
- 11:36Speaker 1: I'm not mad what you did. Cool. Do it. But look,
- 11:39Speaker 1: he's not even urgently getting up. But think about it.
- 11:43Speaker 1: It's not just him. This is what's so confusing about this.
- 11:45Speaker 1: There's a receiver who was back there at the 10-yard
- 11:48Speaker 1: line who was just chit-chatting with the DB from the Giants. Like,
- 11:52Speaker 1: that is disgusting, bro. So I agree with you wholeheartedly.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I think that the quarterback is responsible for being the co-pilot.
- 12:03Speaker 1: He's the co-pilot. The head coach to me is a pilot.
- 12:06Speaker 1: You don't call plays on offense. You don't call plays
- 12:08Speaker 1: on defense. I need to be talking to my offensive coordinator, hey,
- 12:12Speaker 1: let's just spike it. They could have took the clock
- 12:14Speaker 1: down to 10 seconds, spiked the ball. We're not dealing
- 12:17Speaker 1: with any of this right now. I'm not going to lie.
- 12:19Speaker 1: That's not the situation that we want to do because
- 12:23Speaker 1: it was next score wins regardless. Exactly. But my thing is, like,
- 12:28Speaker 1: at that situation, it's just like I put more weight
- 12:32Speaker 1: on it. Like, if people are going to say QBs
- 12:36Speaker 1: want to lose games, and as you can see, they
- 12:37Speaker 1: just would have lost the game on the QB hands.
- 12:40Speaker 1: This is your job, bro. Get paid a lot of money. Like,
- 12:43Speaker 1: this is your job to be prepared to understand the
- 12:46Speaker 1: game and understand situations. That's in your job profile. And
- 12:51Speaker 1: you're telling me, oh, we're going to pay this guy
- 12:54Speaker 1: eventually $ 60 million? This cannot happen. It's tough. It's tough
- 13:00Speaker 1: as a head coach to see a situation like that.
- 13:04Speaker 1: And Jaden James is in contract here. That's not what
- 13:06Speaker 1: I want to put on tape. I didn't love how
- 13:10Speaker 1: he handled the press conference after the game. I would
- 13:13Speaker 1: have liked to see more accountability in myself. Extreme ownership.
- 13:15Speaker 1: I'm a player. You know, I'm a big JD5 fan. But, like,
- 13:20Speaker 1: that's inexcusable, bro. Like, the lack of urgency. Like, that's something, like,
- 13:26Speaker 1: I would have had to say something in the locker room. Like,
- 13:30Speaker 1: I would have had to come talk to him. Like, yo, like,
- 13:33Speaker 1: that's not okay. So, you see what the old lineman,
- 13:35Speaker 1: Chris Paul, said. Yeah, we talked about this in the huddle.
- 13:39Speaker 1: For them to talk about that in the huddle, then
- 13:42Speaker 1: still go out there and execute the way they did.
- 13:45Speaker 1: I'm going to say there's not a coach in America.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Even Coach Sean Homer said it a couple weeks ago.
- 13:52Speaker 1: I probably overly coached, and this is why you overly coach,
- 13:55Speaker 1: not to do stupid things like that. This is why
- 13:57Speaker 1: you overly coach, because you lose games off of that. But, like...
- 14:03Speaker 1: This is just, like, there's no way that they didn't say, hey,
- 14:07Speaker 1: this is the situation here. How much time, so you
- 14:11Speaker 1: mentioned it a little bit earlier. How much time in
- 14:13Speaker 1: NFL meetings, practices, all those things, are you guys talking
- 14:18Speaker 1: about situations like this? Every day. Really? Every day. Like,
- 14:24Speaker 1: on Wednesday, we bring up, you know, end of half,
- 14:29Speaker 1: four-minute drill. Like, we talk about it. Thursdays, we literally
- 14:34Speaker 1: do two-minute situations. We change the clock, change the time,
- 14:39Speaker 1: change the point differential. They need a scorer, got to
- 14:42Speaker 1: have a situation, whatever. We do those situations every week.
- 14:46Speaker 1: On Fridays, red zone situations, we talk about it. What's
- 14:49Speaker 1: the mindset? Oh, we don't push the ball. We don't
- 14:53Speaker 1: reach unless we need the seven. If not, keep it tucked. Like,
- 14:58Speaker 1: we talk about these situations. When you want to reach,
- 15:00Speaker 1: when you don't want to reach. Four-minute drill, what's the mindset?
- 15:03Speaker 1: Protect the ball, stay in bounds. Protect the ball, stay
- 15:05Speaker 1: in bounds. Like, we go through all these situations every week,
- 15:10Speaker 1: so there's no way that you don't know these situations.
- 15:13Speaker 1: We even go through mock games, like, where we walk
- 15:16Speaker 1: through these situations. So it's like, to me, like, this
- 15:20Speaker 1: is a lack of preparation, a lack of mentality, and
- 15:23Speaker 1: a lack of urgency by the man on campus. That
- 15:27Speaker 1: just can't happen. So we had the NFC East. I
- 15:30Speaker 1: want to let you know what your predictions were for
- 15:31Speaker 1: the NFC East. He said it was one, the Eagles, two, Cowboys, three, Commanders, four,
- 15:39Speaker 1: the Giants. Right now we got the Giants in first place.
- 15:42Speaker 1: What do you say about the rankings now? Where do
- 15:44Speaker 1: you think they're going to shake up? How do you
- 15:46Speaker 1: feel about what it's looking like? Man. Who you got
- 15:54Speaker 1: at four? Let's just start there. Who you got at four?
- 15:57Speaker 1: At four, the Commanders. Yeah, 100% agree. Commanders at four.
- 16:01Speaker 1: At four. After that loss, I just can't take it serious.
- 16:06Speaker 1: I don't think the locker room is going to take
- 16:07Speaker 1: their quarterback serious. I didn't love how they were talking
- 16:10Speaker 1: about the things he said in the locker room after
- 16:13Speaker 1: the game. Yeah. You got to, when you're a quarterback,
- 16:17Speaker 1: you got to have extreme ownership. That's the least you
- 16:19Speaker 1: can do. Yeah. Who you got at three? At three,
- 16:23Speaker 1: I'm going to take the Eagles. Oof. Two. I'm going
- 16:31Speaker 1: to take Giants. Agreed. And number one? I'm going to
- 16:35Speaker 1: take the Cowboys. You still got Cowboys at the number
- 16:38Speaker 1: one spot. Yeah. They've had some clunkers. The thing I
- 16:44Speaker 1: want to say about the Cowboys is with their record,
- 16:50Speaker 1: it's more deceiving than like they've shown so much good
- 16:54Speaker 1: stuff off tape. They're just a few stops away. Yeah,
- 16:58Speaker 1: and you're in a bad division. So you have a chance.
- 17:01Speaker 1: You have a chance. You have the Highest point per
- 17:04Speaker 1: margin offense in the league, great. So you know it's
- 17:07Speaker 1: not a problem scoring points. It's just about what's the details,
- 17:12Speaker 1: what's the effort, and what's the commitment going to look
- 17:14Speaker 1: like every day as a defense to say, hey, we're
- 17:17Speaker 1: going to hustle to the ball and we're going to
- 17:19Speaker 1: get stops and play good coverage and do the small details.
- 17:23Speaker 1: That's all they're missing. They just got to make it
- 17:25Speaker 1: tough on offense. They haven't made it tough to this point.
- 17:28Speaker 1: But I think if they can just make you work
- 17:30Speaker 1: for it, I think they got a chance to be successful.
- 17:31Speaker 1: That's the only thing. So we talk about those guys,
- 17:34Speaker 1: but we got to talk about the Green Bay Packers. Yep.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Is the pack back? I don't think the pack ever left. Oh, okay.
- 17:42Speaker 1: We had some rough weeks. But 31-7 to Chicago Bears.
- 17:47Speaker 1: We had one more week. Okay. 31-7 to beat the Bears.
- 17:51Speaker 1: What excited you the most about that game? I just
- 17:55Speaker 1: liked how every phase was dominant. Special teams, offense, and defense.
- 18:01Speaker 1: That was our most complete game. this year, and I
- 18:04Speaker 1: think it was more like, it wasn't even about making
- 18:08Speaker 1: a statement. It was like, the message was just like,
- 18:10Speaker 1: how great can we be this week? We haven't played
- 18:13Speaker 1: our best ball. Can we do it this week? And
- 18:15Speaker 1: it was a division opponent, and that's what probably made
- 18:17Speaker 1: it worse. That was the period. There was two things
- 18:21Speaker 1: that I really liked. The secondary played amazing. I think
- 18:23Speaker 1: that it was time for that. Those guys that really
- 18:25Speaker 1: stepped up. I think they did real sticky coverage. Like,
- 18:29Speaker 1: the way they were passing off in zones, they just
- 18:30Speaker 1: did a good job there. But in the offensive line,
- 18:32Speaker 1: I thought took real strides. Jordan Love was able to
- 18:35Speaker 1: play like who we think Jordan Love is. What was
- 18:39Speaker 1: the energy like leading up to the game? I'm not
- 18:42Speaker 1: going to lie. Everybody was excited. We took like like
- 18:46Speaker 1: nobody on our team is like worried. Like we know
- 18:49Speaker 1: how good we can be. It's just about being consistent.
- 18:52Speaker 1: And we know we're getting players back. Can I players
- 18:57Speaker 1: back like. You? Yeah, like, yeah, we know we're going
- 19:00Speaker 1: to get players back. Oh, God. Just don't, after you
- 19:03Speaker 1: said that, I didn't want to know. It's like, where
- 19:04Speaker 1: are we at and where are we going is, like,
- 19:06Speaker 1: in the same direction. Yeah, okay. I just see you
- 19:09Speaker 1: moving those legs a lot over there, you know what
- 19:11Speaker 1: I'm saying, talking about players coming back. But we had
- 19:14Speaker 1: Luther Bird. Did you see his comments? Yeah, I saw
- 19:18Speaker 1: his comments. I don't be worried about him, though. They're
- 19:22Speaker 1: raised baiters. They just trying to get a reaction out
- 19:25Speaker 1: of you? Yeah, they just want viral. They want to
- 19:28Speaker 1: be viral all the time. I love the tell bro
- 19:33Speaker 1: to stop clout chasing. The comment on X. But after that,
- 19:39Speaker 1: I thought it got real quiet on him. People saying
- 19:42Speaker 1: he quit XYZ. So you got no response for him? No,
- 19:47Speaker 1: I don't got no response for him. You don't participate?
- 19:50Speaker 1: in that type of thing? I told you, I'm in
- 19:51Speaker 1: too good of a headspace to get in that world.
- 19:53Speaker 1: So you're just going to leave it to Anthony Davis? Yeah, yeah.
- 19:56Speaker 1: You got to leave it to the people who care
- 19:57Speaker 1: about that. To me, this is second year in the rivalry.
- 20:00Speaker 1: This is my second year in the rivalry. I don't
- 20:02Speaker 1: got nothing to say. We ain't earned that right yet.
- 20:06Speaker 1: When you talk about rivalries, you were a part of
- 20:08Speaker 1: another big rivalry The Cowboys and the Eagles. How does
- 20:11Speaker 1: this really compare to that type of environment? It's probably equivalent. Really? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:17Speaker 1: It's a lot of smoke. No, it's definitely a lot
- 20:19Speaker 1: of smoke. And I think it's more the fans. They
- 20:21Speaker 1: get riled up. Philly fans getting tuned up for the
- 20:24Speaker 1: game was crazy. Playing in Lincoln on Sunday night was
- 20:28Speaker 1: crazy as a Cowboys player. I can imagine. Did Lincoln
- 20:32Speaker 1: be crazy at 1 o'clock on a Sunday? Bro, it
- 20:34Speaker 1: was a movie. Movie. I still got flashbacks about those games. Man,
- 20:39Speaker 1: I remember my boy Ben DiNucci had to come in
- 20:41Speaker 1: on that Sunday night. That's my dog. Shout out, Ben.
- 20:45Speaker 1: We see you on CBS. On my back. That stuff's real, though.
- 20:49Speaker 1: But in this rivalry, I only played the Bears twice
- 20:53Speaker 1: in my career. I played them once last year, and
- 20:56Speaker 1: when they came to Dallas when Justin Fields was the
- 20:59Speaker 1: starting quarterback. So I don't really got a lot of
- 21:02Speaker 1: blood in a rivalry to talk about it or Put
- 21:07Speaker 1: ownership in it. I just try to line up and play.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Can't wait to see that happen in the year. Christmas Day,
- 21:14Speaker 1: we there. Christmas Day, we can count on you being
- 21:17Speaker 1: out there? Yeah, of course. I hope to see you
- 21:19Speaker 1: back a little sooner than that. You think you can
- 21:21Speaker 1: ask me? No, no, for sure. But I'm just saying,
- 21:23Speaker 1: Christmas Day. Christmas Day, you can count on that. Yeah,
- 21:25Speaker 1: you can count on that. You versus Chicago Bears. Yeah.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Christmas Day. Yeah. I'm pulling up. Yeah. After the game,
- 21:32Speaker 1: I saw Caleb. Yeah. We should care. I'm like. He's like, y'all,
- 21:36Speaker 1: good game. I said, see you on Christmas. I ain't forget.
- 21:38Speaker 1: I ain't forget. I'm standing on that. I'm going to
- 21:41Speaker 1: see y'all Christmas Day. I can't wait. I'm standing on that.
- 21:44Speaker 1: I can't wait either. They going to have everybody back.
- 21:46Speaker 1: We going to have everybody back. Unless Boogie. Yeah, Santa
- 21:51Speaker 1: can only go to one stop. That's it. He can
- 21:55Speaker 1: only go to one stop. Your boy Christian Watson has
- 21:58Speaker 1: been absolutely balling out. I think. I think that he's
- 22:03Speaker 1: making the case that he's one of the best wide
- 22:04Speaker 1: receivers in the NFL. Oh, for sure. The catch he
- 22:07Speaker 1: had down the middle, jumping over somebody, like a head top. Oh,
- 22:12Speaker 1: there it is right there. Yeah. You know, C-Watt has
- 22:18Speaker 1: been my biggest advocate on my ACL recovery. In what way?
- 22:24Speaker 1: Him coming off ACL last year, just the mental side
- 22:27Speaker 1: of things, what to expect, how to handle things. Like,
- 22:31Speaker 1: how to trust the science because we working with the
- 22:33Speaker 1: same people and just being patient. Like, him telling me, like,
- 22:38Speaker 1: how he went down and went to Wisconsin and he
- 22:43Speaker 1: helped him with his hamstring and how everything tied together,
- 22:46Speaker 1: coming off the knee, just everything, man. Like, and that's
- 22:50Speaker 1: what I'm getting right now. Like, I think the biggest
- 22:54Speaker 1: thing that people worried about with me, they're like, man, like,
- 22:58Speaker 1: why ain't he back yet? It is not that. If
- 23:00Speaker 1: the Super Bowl was this week, I'm playing in the
- 23:02Speaker 1: Super Bowl. But it's just about me making sure I
- 23:07Speaker 1: have all the small things fixed first. What a lot
- 23:11Speaker 1: of people don't figure out is it's not just the ACL.
- 23:13Speaker 1: It's like, why did the ACL happen? What was weak?
- 23:17Speaker 1: Because it all works together. It's a chain, right? And
- 23:21Speaker 1: throughout the history of ACL, they notice if you come
- 23:26Speaker 1: back early, there's tend to be overcompensation. On the other side, right?
- 23:31Speaker 1: Injury on the other side, counter lateral. Yeah. Or it
- 23:34Speaker 1: could be on the same side. So throughout just this year,
- 23:38Speaker 1: it was just like we seen injuries across the league
- 23:41Speaker 1: coming off ACL or coming off injuries where it was
- 23:44Speaker 1: like a soft tissue injury, a core muscle injury, ankle injury.
- 23:50Speaker 1: So they were just like, we just going to make
- 23:52Speaker 1: sure everything is right before. Because everyone knows it's like,
- 23:57Speaker 1: what's the point of getting me back for four weeks?
- 23:58Speaker 1: And then next thing you know, my groins bother me.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Now I have a core muscle. Now I'm missing. So
- 24:03Speaker 1: it's not even about that. It's just about making sure
- 24:07Speaker 1: you're just doing everything right. And so I appreciate CWAP
- 24:10Speaker 1: for that. Just trusting the signs, trusting everything that they're
- 24:14Speaker 1: giving me, and just being a good friend, an open advocate.
- 24:18Speaker 1: So this part of me doesn't surprise me about the
- 24:21Speaker 1: success because the guy practiced hard, works hard, the preparation is,
- 24:26Speaker 1: And I mean, he even told me, he's like, in
- 24:28Speaker 1: my contract, they made me say, I got to go
- 24:30Speaker 1: earn my money. I'm going to go get that. And
- 24:33Speaker 1: he finna go get that. He's going to get it.
- 24:35Speaker 1: He's going to go get that. Give me my money. Yeah, facts.
- 24:39Speaker 1: In the other NFC North news, the Vikings moved to 5-0.
- 24:43Speaker 1: The only 5-0 teams are the Chiefs and the 49ers.
- 24:46Speaker 1: All NFC North teams are above 500, and today they
- 24:49Speaker 1: make the playoffs. When you see the Vikings, like, what
- 24:52Speaker 1: do you see? I know that's one of you guys'
- 24:53Speaker 1: big rivals as well. Yeah. The Vikings, I just see
- 24:57Speaker 1: an elite defense and an offense that's starting to kind
- 25:00Speaker 1: of get it. Yeah, I definitely see an elite defense.
- 25:04Speaker 1: I just– I don't know if I can say their
- 25:06Speaker 1: offense is getting it. I think Kyler had a really
- 25:08Speaker 1: good game. I think that the things that KOC asked
- 25:11Speaker 1: Kyler to do requires being such a technician. It's just
- 25:15Speaker 1: going to take time. Like, does it catch on fast
- 25:18Speaker 1: enough for Kyler is my only question. I'm going to
- 25:20Speaker 1: say my thing for this, like, KOC, he's a mastermind offensively.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Hades is someone with experience in the game. That's why
- 25:30Speaker 1: Sam Darnold works so well. He came from a very
- 25:33Speaker 1: advanced Shanahan defense, I mean offense. So he's able to
- 25:37Speaker 1: understand the complexity of what you're trying to accomplish offensively.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Kyler coming from where he was coming from, that hasn't
- 25:47Speaker 1: always been his... That wasn't his bag. He was like
- 25:51Speaker 1: running around making plays. Now, if he could get Kyler
- 25:55Speaker 1: to get those extra boom, boom, boom, I think he
- 25:59Speaker 1: extremely takes off. Agreed. But that comes with coaching, detail,
- 26:04Speaker 1: consistent meeting time, like putting the extra work in. I
- 26:07Speaker 1: believe Kyler Murray can get there. He needs to. Like
- 26:10Speaker 1: he needs to prove the league wrong. Yeah, I think
- 26:13Speaker 1: if the Vikings are going to get where they hope
- 26:14Speaker 1: to go, like battling for first with you guys, I
- 26:17Speaker 1: think it's going to require Kyler to take another step.
- 26:20Speaker 1: But I think versus the Saints was a step in
- 26:22Speaker 1: the right direction. Sure. There's been somebody who's been balling
- 26:25Speaker 1: that wide receiver. Mike Evans and the 49ers. That undefeated team.
- 26:31Speaker 1: But Mike Evans was acting a fool. He doesn't get
- 26:35Speaker 1: any separation. That's not what he's going to do. But
- 26:37Speaker 1: he's going to catch first downs and make big plays.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Seven catches, 113 yards, and one TD. What do you
- 26:45Speaker 1: see when you see like a 30-plus-year-old vet still putting
- 26:49Speaker 1: up numbers like this? They feed him where he's good at.
- 26:55Speaker 1: What did I just tell you? Hello. Who's the similarity? Yeah.
- 26:59Speaker 1: They're not forcing Mike to do all type of routes.
- 27:02Speaker 1: They're like, Mike. Like, I remember, what was it, week
- 27:05Speaker 1: one or week two? They had the sideline came. He
- 27:08Speaker 1: was like, man, throw that joint up to me in
- 27:10Speaker 1: the end zone. Just throw it up. They threw it up.
- 27:13Speaker 1: He was like, man, what did I tell y'all? Why
- 27:15Speaker 1: can't you do that with Marv? Like, I want to say,
- 27:19Speaker 1: what was the one with Banks? They had Marv run
- 27:21Speaker 1: a slant or something like that where he pick-sixed it.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Everyone knows in the red zone every DB is damn
- 27:28Speaker 1: near playing inside leverage. Got to be. 90% of the time. 95.
- 27:32Speaker 1: And we ain't back pulling either. So why are you
- 27:34Speaker 1: forcing him to run a slant? They want him to win. No.
- 27:39Speaker 1: He ain't going to win. Faye Baltimore, if he just
- 27:41Speaker 1: had one earlier that game against the Giants. Like, bro,
- 27:47Speaker 1: I'm telling you, we overly coaching sometimes. We don't make
- 27:50Speaker 1: the simple stuff hard. Yeah. Like, and then don't get
- 27:54Speaker 1: me wrong. Mike will go run a dig. Like, he'll
- 27:56Speaker 1: do that. Like, he'll go. But where it matters the most, one-on-one,
- 28:00Speaker 1: and it's Mike against whoever. It don't matter who in
- 28:05Speaker 1: the league. Just give me the rock. He's been unstoppable
- 28:09Speaker 1: since he's been in the league. Like, it didn't matter
- 28:11Speaker 1: between Prime, Marshall and Lattimore. Today, what they had. Who
- 28:16Speaker 1: was out there on them? We had Diggs. Who was
- 28:18Speaker 1: the other corner we had out there? Let me look. Witherspoon. Yeah,
- 28:22Speaker 1: we have Witherspoon. And he big boy is somebody in
- 28:25Speaker 1: the corner that is some ferocious. He's like the Derrick
- 28:30Speaker 1: Henry of receivers. Can we talk about this? I'm not
- 28:34Speaker 1: going to lie. These are your people. These are your mans.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Both your mans. Yeah, that's my mans. This is my mans.
- 28:38Speaker 1: This is your mans. This is my mans. Is he wearing, like,
- 28:40Speaker 1: a ski mask? Can he not see his face? Or
- 28:43Speaker 1: what's going on here? I'm not going to lie. Diggs
- 28:45Speaker 1: usually do be wearing the thing above his nose. That's
- 28:47Speaker 1: what I thought. So he actually might not have known
- 28:49Speaker 1: who it was. Yeah, on God. And then Diggs, he
- 28:51Speaker 1: just got elevated for practice squad. So, like, it probably wasn't, like,
- 28:55Speaker 1: a scouting report. And then, like, people who know Mike, like,
- 28:59Speaker 1: I believe them in this interview, like, He's never done
- 29:02Speaker 1: nothing like that. He probably really didn't know who it was.
- 29:06Speaker 1: He's such a good guy, bro. I think he was
- 29:09Speaker 1: truthful about it. He didn't know who it was. That's
- 29:11Speaker 1: still a violation. Yeah. And Diggs be talking crazy, too. Oh,
- 29:15Speaker 1: I'm already knowing. Yeah. Yeah. So I understand why Mike
- 29:18Speaker 1: was like, yo, who's talking to me like this? That's
- 29:21Speaker 1: how Diggs is. He's a huge trash talker. And they
- 29:23Speaker 1: did have some battles back in the day, like Diggs
- 29:25Speaker 1: versus when he was with the Cowboys. Yeah, don't get
- 29:28Speaker 1: it twisted. My man Trey, he done showed Mike what's up. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 29:33Speaker 1: A couple times. He's cold. That's why I thought it
- 29:35Speaker 1: was even wilder. I've had pics when you was playing
- 29:38Speaker 1: wide receiver. Yeah. not get too crazy. But it was
- 29:42Speaker 1: funny nonetheless. No, that joint had me like, I almost
- 29:45Speaker 1: had to message my dog. You ain't say nothing yet?
- 29:47Speaker 1: Don't ever let somebody do this again. I would have
- 29:51Speaker 1: just threw hands just to make the clip go away.
- 29:53Speaker 1: And look, I'll take this 15-yard personal foul. We both
- 29:56Speaker 1: out the game. Forget the foul. Forget the foul. The fine.
- 30:00Speaker 1: You got to fight for your respect. That Joe's a
- 30:02Speaker 1: walking Jif now. Oh, every time. Every time. You get
- 30:06Speaker 1: a text from somebody you don't know, you're going to
- 30:08Speaker 1: hit them with that Jif. Yeah. Let me see that. Yeah,
- 30:10Speaker 1: like I'm mad that happened to him. It wasn't the
- 30:15Speaker 1: finest hour. Brock Purdy is now the favorite to win MVP. 1,196 yards,
- 30:22Speaker 1: 13 TDs, two interceptions. Could Mr. Irrelevant be the MVP?
- 30:27Speaker 1: For sure. Do you think he's that good? Is he
- 30:31Speaker 1: a game manager or is he somebody who can really
- 30:32Speaker 1: change a game? I'm going to say this. Before I
- 30:39Speaker 1: was leaning on the side of game manager, now I
- 30:42Speaker 1: think he's taken over that. I think he, before it
- 30:47Speaker 1: was like he had so much around him that was
- 30:50Speaker 1: hard for him to fail. He had prime Debo, prime Iuke,
- 30:54Speaker 1: prime C-Mac, prime Kittle, Best left tackle in the league.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Best left tackle in the league. So he had so
- 31:02Speaker 1: much around him that was like, bro, you can't mess up. Like,
- 31:06Speaker 1: you can't. Now it's like, all right, you know, I'm
- 31:11Speaker 1: not saying Deebo. He's just older. But, like, he's older.
- 31:14Speaker 1: He's just older. Kittle's older. You know what I mean? Like,
- 31:17Speaker 1: Mike Evans is older. C-Mac's a little older. Like, everyone's older.
- 31:22Speaker 1: And I think he's able to do it with less. Like,
- 31:24Speaker 1: he's not. playing with the same caliber. They're not the
- 31:27Speaker 1: same caliber they were in their prime. And I think
- 31:30Speaker 1: what makes it special is like what made him better
- 31:33Speaker 1: was he was playing ball without them. Like when C-Mac
- 31:38Speaker 1: went down last year and Ayuk wasn't there. Deebo wasn't there.
- 31:43Speaker 1: So he was running around with Jawan Jennings, Ricky Pearsall
- 31:46Speaker 1: here and there. And it made him play better. He
- 31:49Speaker 1: had to be more precise, be more on time, understand
- 31:53Speaker 1: that guys weren't always going to separate. create more anticipation.
- 31:57Speaker 1: I think that's kind of what made him make that
- 31:59Speaker 1: jump this offseason. It's like, oh, wait, I had this
- 32:01Speaker 1: last– didn't have these guys last year, but now I
- 32:05Speaker 1: have them. So who's doing more with less? Is it
- 32:08Speaker 1: Brock or is it Mahomes? Because you look at Mahomes'
- 32:12Speaker 1: receiver room. Yeah, Mahomes is doing more. I mean, but
- 32:16Speaker 1: Kenneth Walker, he's leading the league right now. He's like
- 32:19Speaker 1: the best back in the league right now besides Bijan.
- 32:22Speaker 1: I don't think he's better than Bijan, but his– His workload,
- 32:25Speaker 1: his stats is... Mahomes is doing a lot with lesser
- 32:29Speaker 1: known receivers. Yeah, for sure. Backs, we get... Either one's better.
- 32:34Speaker 1: You can say one or the other. It doesn't matter.
- 32:36Speaker 1: But the receiver room, tight end is probably about equal. But,
- 32:41Speaker 1: you know, we got two guys, I think, at the
- 32:43Speaker 1: peak of their game. But I think coming off the ACL,
- 32:47Speaker 1: Brock Purdy coming off what he did. Brock Purdy just
- 32:50Speaker 1: creates plays because he doesn't get sacked too. So he
- 32:52Speaker 1: just does a lot for that team. Yeah, I think
- 32:55Speaker 1: Brock does a good job overall. Like, I think he's
- 32:57Speaker 1: done a better job of controlling the game. Yeah, no interceptions,
- 33:02Speaker 1: no sacks. Everything's a positive play. They just do. Now
- 33:06Speaker 1: what I think Brock Purdy has is Kyle Shanahan will
- 33:09Speaker 1: be dialing it up. No, no, he got Kyle Shanahan,
- 33:13Speaker 1: but I think Purdy's a tier above Darnold. Oh, definitely. Yeah. Like,
- 33:21Speaker 1: I think Darnold has proved– What we say about him.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Just so we're clear, what do we say about him?
- 33:28Speaker 1: Because I want to know how you feel. He's a
- 33:29Speaker 1: game manager. Oh, yeah. 2T. Yeah. I mean, if you
- 33:33Speaker 1: look at their losses, any game Seattle lost, he's had
- 33:36Speaker 1: two plus turnovers. Yeah, I think he's going to have
- 33:39Speaker 1: to play better if they want to go back to
- 33:41Speaker 1: a Super Bowl. For sure. Any game they lost, I
- 33:45Speaker 1: think dating back to last year, any game they lost,
- 33:47Speaker 1: he had multiple turnover games. If they just play good
- 33:50Speaker 1: defense and he don't turn the ball over, they're going
- 33:52Speaker 1: to win every game. They got an A-plus defense, and
- 33:54Speaker 1: their offense is a C-minus right now. You know what's
- 33:57Speaker 1: crazy was I didn't get to watch the whole game
- 34:01Speaker 1: because I had just got home, but I watched the
- 34:03Speaker 1: second half, and the score was 26-26, I believe. And
- 34:11Speaker 1: I was astonished to hear how many Seattle actually scored.
- 34:16Speaker 1: They said it's 26-26, but Seattle has made their kickers
- 34:20Speaker 1: 5-for-5 for field goals. I said, so they only score once? Yeah. Like,
- 34:27Speaker 1: that's crazy. Like, that's crazy. Like, that's a true meeting
- 34:31Speaker 1: of game managers. That's all he is. He going to
- 34:34Speaker 1: get that done. But we talked about the good teams.
- 34:37Speaker 1: We talked about a lot of positives. We got to
- 34:40Speaker 1: talk about the 0-5s. All 0-5 teams are in the AFC.
- 34:46Speaker 1: We got the Chargers. We got the Titans. And we
- 34:49Speaker 1: got the Dolphins. Have you seen any of those three
- 34:52Speaker 1: teams play? Yeah. I watched a little bit of the
- 34:59Speaker 1: Chargers game yesterday. Have you ever seen a regression like
- 35:03Speaker 1: Jessa Herbert? The things he's doing, the last interception of
- 35:06Speaker 1: the game, he doesn't look like who people said he was.
- 35:12Speaker 1: I mean, it's hard for him to have confidence. Why?
- 35:15Speaker 1: He's getting hit most in the league. I think second most.
- 35:19Speaker 1: I will say prior to this week, Do you want
- 35:21Speaker 1: to know what quarterback actually had the most pressures in
- 35:24Speaker 1: the league? Mine? Yeah. I know. And he still manages
- 35:30Speaker 1: to make it work. So at one point, people have
- 35:32Speaker 1: to stop making excuses for Justin Herbert. Okay, okay, okay.
- 35:35Speaker 1: But it's been a history for Justin Herbert. It's not
- 35:37Speaker 1: like it's just a new thing. No, it has been
- 35:39Speaker 1: a history. J-Lo, it was like a new thing. People
- 35:41Speaker 1: were like, whoa, our quarterback. Aaron Rodgers always had a
- 35:44Speaker 1: good line. Packers always had a good line. Yeah. Let's
- 35:46Speaker 1: not do that. But like. They just had a bad
- 35:50Speaker 1: luck of injuries for the past couple years. They have,
- 35:55Speaker 1: but they've invested so much in the O-line, two first-round picks. Okay, okay, okay.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Both tackles. Let's go through it. Let's go through it.
- 36:03Speaker 1: We got time. They pay Rashawn Slater. What was it,
- 36:07Speaker 1: first game or preseason? Tears his patella tendon. Wow, I
- 36:10Speaker 1: lose my all-pro left tackle to start the season. Damn. Okay.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Joe Ault. Oh, he's promising. Oh, tight rope. A high
- 36:19Speaker 1: ankle sprain. Out damn near the season. Oh, wow. We
- 36:23Speaker 1: back to these guys again. Boom. They making, they're going winning.
- 36:27Speaker 1: They're finding ways to win games. Boom. Here it goes again.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Come back this year. Rashawn Slater banged up. I think
- 36:34Speaker 1: missed a game. Joe Alt missed a game. Joe Alt concussion.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Rashawn Slater, high ankle sprain, tight rope surgery. It's just like,
- 36:42Speaker 1: He can't catch a break. Two years in a row,
- 36:44Speaker 1: both of his tackles go down. Now, Joe, I think
- 36:47Speaker 1: he's not out for the year or out for- He
- 36:48Speaker 1: got a neck injury. Slater will be back. Never mind.
- 36:53Speaker 1: He's requiring surgery. Yeah, that's six- I'm looking at it now.
- 36:58Speaker 1: We got rookie six-round pick attack. Hold on, hold on.
- 37:00Speaker 1: I had a high ankle. I had six weeks no surgery.
- 37:03Speaker 1: So tightrope, you're adding probably another four. That's probably 10 weeks.
- 37:10Speaker 1: I'm looking at this Slater IR, Joe Ault neck injury,
- 37:14Speaker 1: the center done for the season. So it's not getting better.
- 37:19Speaker 1: It's not getting better for him. Fibula injury. My man
- 37:21Speaker 1: is fighting for his life. He got a rookie left tackle,
- 37:25Speaker 1: rookie left guard, undrafted rookie at center, an interior cold
- 37:29Speaker 1: stranger right guard, and then a rookie at tackle. He's
- 37:34Speaker 1: fighting for his life. He's just trying to stay alive
- 37:36Speaker 1: back there. I kind of feel bad. But I think
- 37:41Speaker 1: that's the situation with all three of these old linemen.
- 37:43Speaker 1: And what weapons do we have? We talk about weapons
- 37:46Speaker 1: for everyone else. What weapons you got? Besides Ladd. Johnson?
- 37:56Speaker 1: I'm just... I mean... Where would you put Johnson? No disrespect.
- 38:02Speaker 1: No disrespect. We're talking about like... You're talking about like
- 38:05Speaker 1: top tier players. We're talking about tiers. Like... We're talking about, like,
- 38:08Speaker 1: and Ladd, it's not like he went all pro yet. Like,
- 38:10Speaker 1: he's good. He's a good player. He's going to be
- 38:12Speaker 1: in the league for a long time. Let's not get,
- 38:15Speaker 1: we're not trying to get disrespect. If you're in the league, like,
- 38:17Speaker 1: you're a good player. Yeah, you're a good player. But
- 38:20Speaker 1: it's levels. He don't got no Jettas. I don't even
- 38:26Speaker 1: think they got a C-Watt. And people don't even talk
- 38:28Speaker 1: about my man Golden. They don't got a T. Higgins.
- 38:30Speaker 1: They don't got nothing. Okay, let's. Ladd is a. Julian Edelman,
- 38:37Speaker 1: great player. He can be a Super Bowl winner. He
- 38:40Speaker 1: can work the slot. He can work the slot. But
- 38:43Speaker 1: you're talking about outside? Bro, you need an outside. And
- 38:48Speaker 1: then the run game's not done. How can you establish
- 38:50Speaker 1: the run game with rookies across the line? So now
- 38:53Speaker 1: he's dropping back every play. And now he's getting hit. Like,
- 38:59Speaker 1: I would love to say, oh, he just regressed. Oh,
- 39:02Speaker 1: he got better. No, that's the easy way out. I
- 39:05Speaker 1: just think he hasn't– they've tried to put things around
- 39:09Speaker 1: him in place, but the efforts go bad with injuries. Like,
- 39:14Speaker 1: injuries suck. Like, the Packers, we went through– we just
- 39:17Speaker 1: lost our right tackle. And we had a free agent.
- 39:21Speaker 1: We had a dip and dive. You know, we got
- 39:23Speaker 1: move pieces. Figuring it out. You got to figure it out.
- 39:26Speaker 1: And luckily we got some guys that came in and
- 39:28Speaker 1: it's kind of, you know, going better for us, but
- 39:32Speaker 1: you know, some people don't got the cap to say, Hey,
- 39:35Speaker 1: let's go get this guy or Hey, let's sign this
- 39:37Speaker 1: guy off a practice squad or, you know, get some
- 39:40Speaker 1: veteran leadership. They don't even got veteran leadership. Well, well,
- 39:46Speaker 1: in terms of leadership after the game, Jim Harbaugh was asked,
- 39:52Speaker 1: what does one say to an own five team? His
- 39:56Speaker 1: answer was, I don't know. You want to be a coach.
- 40:00Speaker 1: What would your answer be to a question like that?
- 40:03Speaker 1: I think at this point it's about how many of
- 40:05Speaker 1: us love football. Yeah. I think I would go down
- 40:09Speaker 1: that route. How many of us really love football? How
- 40:13Speaker 1: many do us know what it takes to be a
- 40:15Speaker 1: good football player? How many of us are going to
- 40:20Speaker 1: really learn from our mistakes? How are we going to grow?
- 40:24Speaker 1: Because being older than five, it can get worse. That's
- 40:29Speaker 1: the beautiful part about this journey, fellas. It can get worse.
- 40:34Speaker 1: But it can always get better. But the question is,
- 40:38Speaker 1: to get better, that's going to determine me. It's going
- 40:40Speaker 1: to determine you. And what are we willing to sacrifice
- 40:43Speaker 1: to get better? Like there's no... Speech about, ah, this pains,
- 40:48Speaker 1: this sucks. Like, I really wanted this for us. You
- 40:52Speaker 1: don't really want every game. Like, but the reality is
- 40:55Speaker 1: we got to get better. We got to find a
- 40:57Speaker 1: way to work around what we got. And that's probably
- 41:00Speaker 1: the hard part. You don't got none of your first
- 41:03Speaker 1: round left tackles or right tackle. The guy you paid
- 41:06Speaker 1: a lot of money to on free agents out for
- 41:08Speaker 1: the year. What do you do? Coach, you ready to
- 41:17Speaker 1: run through the wall? Yeah. You ready to get this
- 41:19Speaker 1: shit done? That's what I'm saying. Like, we're going to
- 41:22Speaker 1: have to figure it out. They got to look in
- 41:23Speaker 1: the mirror. You got to look in the mirror. And
- 41:27Speaker 1: they say the mirror is the ugliest thing because we
- 41:29Speaker 1: never want to find it. But the truth is, everyone
- 41:32Speaker 1: needs self-evaluation. Like, all of us ain't the best thing
- 41:38Speaker 1: in the world. I think, like, even my man Derwin's
- 41:43Speaker 1: hurt right now. Yeah. Like, They just getting a bad
- 41:48Speaker 1: draw with injuries. They ain't got no luck. So that's
- 41:52Speaker 1: what you want to hear as a player as well?
- 41:54Speaker 1: Like that kind of speech? Yeah, like I think like
- 41:57Speaker 1: if I'm in a room and the coach is being
- 41:59Speaker 1: real with us, right, I'd rather you just tell us
- 42:02Speaker 1: what it is. Why do we suck? Simple as that.
- 42:07Speaker 1: Don't beat around the bush talking about analytics or you
- 42:10Speaker 1: could have done this better. Well, coach. My abilities only
- 42:15Speaker 1: withstand the positions that you put me in. I am
- 42:20Speaker 1: not him. I am not the Hall of Famer you
- 42:24Speaker 1: used to have. My trajectory is not that high. Put
- 42:30Speaker 1: me in a position to win, coach. This isn't a
- 42:32Speaker 1: plug and play. You got to do something different. Whatever
- 42:37Speaker 1: you had him doing, I can't do that. I can't
- 42:40Speaker 1: do that. I'm not winning my one-on-ones. Ski me open.
- 42:45Speaker 1: If you leave me one-on-one with this defensive end, I'm
- 42:47Speaker 1: going to lose that battle. Ski me. Chip, slide. Help me.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Help me help you. Hello. 100%. Well, another 0-5 team,
- 43:03Speaker 1: the Tennessee Titans. My dog, Cam Ward, had a rough go.
- 43:07Speaker 1: He also has a really difficult O-line situation and skill position.
- 43:14Speaker 1: But after the game, a reporter asked him, have you
- 43:18Speaker 1: got used to losing? How does one handle a question
- 43:24Speaker 1: like that? That's disrespectful. That's disrespectful. So as a player,
- 43:30Speaker 1: when you get met with disrespect like that from reporters,
- 43:32Speaker 1: what is stopping you from being disrespectful back? I mean,
- 43:38Speaker 1: my mom always just taught me differently. I'm not going
- 43:40Speaker 1: to match disrespect with disrespect. It only just keeps getting
- 43:44Speaker 1: uglier and worse. And the relationship sours. And now I
- 43:48Speaker 1: just gave them people ammo, not off what they said,
- 43:51Speaker 1: but my reaction to what they said to me. And
- 43:54Speaker 1: that's the, most of the social media, that's the rage bait.
- 43:57Speaker 1: They want to bait me into saying something. So it's
- 44:00Speaker 1: not about them. It's about my reaction. Don't fall for that, Cam.
- 44:06Speaker 1: I just say what his struggles is like. One thing
- 44:10Speaker 1: that I hate is, like, none of them are supporting Cam.
- 44:17Speaker 1: It's like they don't want to see him win. I
- 44:21Speaker 1: want to see everyone in the league win. Regardless, I
- 44:24Speaker 1: want to see everyone in the league feed their families,
- 44:26Speaker 1: take care of their families, and prosper in their own way.
- 44:30Speaker 1: And I don't know how that looks like, but I
- 44:32Speaker 1: just hope it looks like for each individual. It doesn't matter.
- 44:36Speaker 1: In God's own way. Whatever success looks like for them,
- 44:38Speaker 1: you want them to have it. Exactly. I don't, like,
- 44:42Speaker 1: besides the inside organization, the media, the people online, like,
- 44:49Speaker 1: give him time. He doesn't have, besides Mr. Biskey. He
- 44:55Speaker 1: is his backup. Who was another first round that didn't
- 45:00Speaker 1: reach what he was fully capable of. No real veteran leadership.
- 45:07Speaker 1: He's a young guy coming from now a different offensive
- 45:11Speaker 1: coordinator than his first year. So he's now trying to
- 45:16Speaker 1: understand a new system, new philosophy. In year two of
- 45:20Speaker 1: the league where he's still learning football. I'm not, do
- 45:25Speaker 1: I hate him? And it's not like he's came into
- 45:29Speaker 1: a system, and this is what I hate too, If
- 45:33Speaker 1: you were drafted number one overall. Your team's bad. Your
- 45:38Speaker 1: team's bad. Like, it's not like you're coming into, like,
- 45:42Speaker 1: people always say, like, it's a blessing and a curse
- 45:44Speaker 1: to be a top ten pick. Like, you never, like,
- 45:47Speaker 1: there was a saying that was like, you don't really
- 45:49Speaker 1: want to go in a top ten. You want to
- 45:50Speaker 1: go somewhere between ten and twenty. Because, like, if you're
- 45:57Speaker 1: in a top ten, you're not one piece away from.
- 46:00Speaker 1: It's a whole bunch of pieces. Your trajectory. Your trajectory. Like,
- 46:03Speaker 1: going from first pick to just us. Like, besides CJ
- 46:10Speaker 1: that one year, he used to make playoffs. Like, he
- 46:13Speaker 1: beat the odds, right? But they also drafted Will Anderson
- 46:16Speaker 1: in that same draft. And they had a pretty decent team.
- 46:23Speaker 1: If you draft in 10... To 20, we talk about, hey,
- 46:27Speaker 1: those was a couple games away from. It was close.
- 46:29Speaker 1: A couple one-score games away, like we talked about. Yeah, yeah.
- 46:31Speaker 1: A couple one-score games away from that. They lost a
- 46:33Speaker 1: few of those, yeah. And then, you know, 20 to 30, playoff. Like,
- 46:37Speaker 1: playoff caliber teams. Hey, we don't really need you, but
- 46:39Speaker 1: you can add. We probably got an older guy that
- 46:41Speaker 1: we can draft. We might get sneaky in here. Yeah,
- 46:45Speaker 1: you could come in and replace him eventually. Hey, draft, develop, boom, boom, boom.
- 46:50Speaker 1: The Tennessee Titans have no real identity right now. And
- 46:55Speaker 1: we talk about identity a lot. No great run game.
- 47:00Speaker 1: He's dropping back 30-plus times a game with a very
- 47:07Speaker 1: average or below average offensive line. And look, there were
- 47:12Speaker 1: some bad clips. Dan Moore tripped Peter, a top left guard.
- 47:16Speaker 1: The guard and the tackle. And let Will Anderson get
- 47:17Speaker 1: a free sack. But it's like people don't care about that.
- 47:22Speaker 1: It's Cam's fault. Everything can't be Cam's fault. It's all
- 47:27Speaker 1: on the quarterback, per the folks. Yeah, per the folks. Like,
- 47:31Speaker 1: that's crazy to me. Yeah, I'm starting to feel bad
- 47:35Speaker 1: for Cam. With two things. One, would Cam benefit from
- 47:41Speaker 1: like a soft benching, kind of like what happened to
- 47:43Speaker 1: Bryce Young? No. Why strip him of his confidence? I
- 47:53Speaker 1: think that's the number one characteristic in a quarterback, confidence. Yeah.
- 47:57Speaker 1: So we don't want to bench him, but what about
- 48:00Speaker 1: a change of scenery? No. Just keep him there. Just
- 48:04Speaker 1: let him ride it. It's not like he's just throwing
- 48:09Speaker 1: ducks all game. Yeah, I think that he has potential.
- 48:11Speaker 1: It's not ugly. Yeah, I think he has potential. It's
- 48:13Speaker 1: just I want him to get a change of scenery
- 48:16Speaker 1: so he can play around some talent, so he can
- 48:18Speaker 1: get an opportunity to be successful. But that's what your
- 48:20Speaker 1: team has to do. That's what ownership. They not doing it. Like,
- 48:24Speaker 1: how are we looking at this situation and saying, hey,
- 48:27Speaker 1: Cam should be good? Yeah. When they lined up for
- 48:31Speaker 1: week one, they knew they wasn't going to be no good.
- 48:35Speaker 1: You feel me? Like, there's no way. Like, outside looking
- 48:39Speaker 1: at it, like, we looking at our team like, yeah,
- 48:41Speaker 1: we'll be a competitive. We got to do better, like,
- 48:45Speaker 1: helping and putting around and helping the players that we drafted,
- 48:50Speaker 1: put them in position to succeed. yeah like put it's
- 48:54Speaker 1: like like and that's why i'm always siding with the
- 48:56Speaker 1: players because you know it's like we need opportunity just
- 49:03Speaker 1: as bad as like like mixed with the ego like
- 49:07Speaker 1: hey we drafted this guy but we can also bring
- 49:12Speaker 1: this guy but nah nah i like my draft pick
- 49:15Speaker 1: no bro it's not about your draft pick right it's
- 49:19Speaker 1: about how are we in a win now mode or not? Like,
- 49:24Speaker 1: we got this money. What? It don't get saved. Yeah.
- 49:29Speaker 1: Just spend it. What Kareesh should say? Spend that. Just
- 49:32Speaker 1: spend it. It's not like you get savings. It's the
- 49:35Speaker 1: league's money. Yeah. Like, just spend it. Let it go.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Bring in talent. And if you miss on a free agent,
- 49:41Speaker 1: you miss, but at least you tried. Like, I'll take
- 49:44Speaker 1: the effort over any day of just not trying at all.
- 49:47Speaker 1: The thing that people forgetting is, and it's easy to do,
- 49:54Speaker 1: we compare Hall of Famers, guys who are just one
- 49:58Speaker 1: of one, and say, hey, we expect you to be
- 50:01Speaker 1: this guy. I am my own color. I am my
- 50:04Speaker 1: own person. I think my own way. I play my
- 50:08Speaker 1: own way. I'm not him. His trajectory is here. Mine
- 50:13Speaker 1: made Max here. And that's the reality. I'm sorry if
- 50:17Speaker 1: you thought I was going to be the next golden
- 50:19Speaker 1: child of Tennessee Titans and I was supposed to come
- 50:22Speaker 1: and change this organization around. I can only come and
- 50:24Speaker 1: put my best foot forward to what they've given me.
- 50:27Speaker 1: And that's just the reality of most fans. So we're sorry, fans,
- 50:32Speaker 1: that we are not the same caliber of primetime Deion
- 50:35Speaker 1: Sanders because that's what people thought you know, a certain
- 50:39Speaker 1: player was going to be. Like, that's just not the reality. Like,
- 50:41Speaker 1: we cannot think that way. And honestly, if you put
- 50:43Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes on the Tennessee Titans right now, their record's
- 50:48Speaker 1: still 0-5. You can't win there right now with the
- 50:53Speaker 1: situation they have set up. Like, we have to understand that. But,
- 51:02Speaker 1: you know... We put so much of the wins and
- 51:04Speaker 1: losses on quarterbacks, and we've seen guys have success, and
- 51:07Speaker 1: we've seen guys come in with instant success. So we
- 51:12Speaker 1: expect everyone to. Not everyone's trajectory is that. 100%. Some
- 51:17Speaker 1: people just need time. But the thing is, we don't
- 51:20Speaker 1: see those bad years when them guys are sitting at
- 51:23Speaker 1: benches and they're learning defense and they're learning the scheme.
- 51:26Speaker 1: And then we also don't think about the gratitude of
- 51:28Speaker 1: guys who get to stay with the same coaches. Andy
- 51:31Speaker 1: Reid and Patrick Mahomes, them being together for so long,
- 51:33Speaker 1: it makes it that much easier. You can add so
- 51:36Speaker 1: much to a playbook. You can throw so much more
- 51:38Speaker 1: in the game. Add stuff to your game plan. You
- 51:42Speaker 1: remember in 2019, we ran trips, right? You know what
- 51:47Speaker 1: I'm saying? You can give them all that. Okay, cool.
- 51:50Speaker 1: I got you. Exactly. It's so easy and so hard
- 51:54Speaker 1: to do that. We just can't compare those. This is
- 51:58Speaker 1: not the same. 100%. Well, it would be wild of
- 52:04Speaker 1: me to not mention Cowboys versus Packers. Your old team
- 52:09Speaker 1: is coming up to Green Bay. What are you looking
- 52:12Speaker 1: forward to the most about this game? Man, I'm excited
- 52:15Speaker 1: about the game. I'm so excited. I would say I'm
- 52:19Speaker 1: just ready to see a very good clash game. I
- 52:22Speaker 1: think Dallas Green Bay has a rivalry of its own
- 52:24Speaker 1: ever since the Dez caught it. Dez didn't catch it.
- 52:28Speaker 1: I know. I know. The Dez catch thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 52:31Speaker 1: So it's going to be a good game, man. I'm excited.
- 52:34Speaker 1: I'm excited. I really am. Dez, I still remember what
- 52:37Speaker 1: you said on Twitter, but we're going to leave that alone.
- 52:39Speaker 1: You know, for real. Oh, yeah, y'all was beefing over
- 52:43Speaker 1: the weekend. He was beefing with me. He was using
- 52:48Speaker 1: words he didn't know what they meant, so I had
- 52:50Speaker 1: to try and assist in there, and he didn't catch
- 52:52Speaker 1: the ball. But, no, I'm looking forward to it. When
- 52:54Speaker 1: you play your old team, is there anything that you like,
- 52:58Speaker 1: any emotions that come up, or is it just like
- 52:59Speaker 1: another game? Bro, it was just another game. Like, I
- 53:03Speaker 1: think so many people wanted me to be back for
- 53:08Speaker 1: that game to make the game bigger than what it was. Like,
- 53:12Speaker 1: it's just another Sunday night football game against two good teams.
- 53:17Speaker 1: It's not about me. You know what I mean? Like,
- 53:20Speaker 1: I think that probably let people down. Oh, Michael, he's
- 53:23Speaker 1: going to want to be back for the Dallas game. No,
- 53:27Speaker 1: I'm in that phase of life where, like, I just
- 53:30Speaker 1: want to be healthy again. That's it. It's coming soon. Yeah.
- 53:36Speaker 1: I don't care about the team I left or the
- 53:39Speaker 1: team that they think I want my revenge against. I
- 53:44Speaker 1: don't need revenge. I just need two healthy knees to
- 53:47Speaker 1: do what I love to do. And we can't wait
- 53:50Speaker 1: to see it. And we can't wait to see it.
- 53:53Speaker 1: Dallas versus Packers Sunday night. At Lambeau, it's going to
- 53:57Speaker 1: be a wild one. I hope we come out and
- 53:59Speaker 1: play how we did against the Bears, and we'll have
- 54:01Speaker 1: a good game. Let's do it. Let's do it. Yo,
