- 0:44Speaker 3: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark of You podcast.
- 0:47Speaker 3: I'm Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark movie fan.
- 0:50Speaker 4: I'm Wendy. I'm your former Hallmark hater.
- 0:54Speaker 3: Oh not even for now. Added on it.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Was a good weekend.
- 0:58Speaker 3: It was a good weekend. Today we're discussing mystery on
- 1:01Speaker 3: Mistletoe Lane, part of Hallmark's Miracles of Christmas series. If
- 1:08Speaker 3: you want to connect with us outside of the podcast,
- 1:09Speaker 3: we'd love for you to follow us on Instagram. You
- 1:12Speaker 3: can find us at Girls Gone Hallmark and at Megan
- 1:16Speaker 3: and Wendy.
- 1:16Speaker 4: Jump into our Facebook group Girls Gone Hallmark. We're just
- 1:21Speaker 4: left and right new people. So I think it's a
- 1:23Speaker 4: really nice group. And if you want to come and
- 1:25Speaker 4: talk about movies and share your opinion without getting you know,
- 1:30Speaker 4: beat up for it, it's a great group.
- 1:32Speaker 3: It is a great group. Lots of good conversation about
- 1:35Speaker 3: this weekend's movies if you want to talk about that.
- 1:37Speaker 3: More things to talk about. Big exciting news for not
- 1:41Speaker 3: just the Hallmark universe, but entertainment fans across the world.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Sag Aftra Studios and the AMPTP reached a tentative agreement
- 1:51Speaker 3: and the one hundred and eighteen day strike, so they
- 1:53Speaker 3: will be voting starting this week. The word is it
- 1:56Speaker 3: is a landmark achievement for the union. In what I've
- 2:01Speaker 3: seen shared, people are very happy with the outcome. My
- 2:04Speaker 3: favorite part about all of this, though, is the second
- 2:07Speaker 3: they reached the tendent agreement is that all of our
- 2:09Speaker 3: Hallmark stars were finally able to share promos for what
- 2:12Speaker 3: they've been working on, stuff that's already aired, stuff that's
- 2:15Speaker 3: coming out. What a bummer to work so hard on
- 2:17Speaker 3: something and then just have to sit on your hands
- 2:19Speaker 3: when it comes out for real. So I love that
- 2:22Speaker 3: they're excitedly sharing. We're getting some behind the scenes clips,
- 2:25Speaker 3: we're getting some fun bonus content from our stars, and
- 2:29Speaker 3: they're able to share the work that they've been creating.
- 2:32Speaker 3: So check out Instagram, check out your favorite Hallmark stars,
- 2:36Speaker 3: because odds are they're talking about what they're working on.
- 2:39Speaker 4: It's almost a little overwhelming to me as a consumer
- 2:42Speaker 4: on Instagram because like every actor is like posting about
- 2:47Speaker 4: their projects and I was like, Wow, you really didn't
- 2:50Speaker 4: realize how quiet it had been.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Yes, so listen to this.
- 2:55Speaker 4: On November thirtieth, Benjamin Airs is launching a Romance Unit
- 3:00Speaker 4: Versity pop up shop in Toronto, you know, to sell
- 3:03Speaker 4: his Romance University merch. Yeah, and Laura Vandervoot and Britney
- 3:09Speaker 4: Bristow will also be there in attendance to meet fans. Now,
- 3:13Speaker 4: I gotta tell you, they came out with a Romance
- 3:15Speaker 4: University Christmas hoodie that is real cute, but it's also
- 3:18Speaker 4: sixty dollars. I mean I almost kind of wanted it,
- 3:23Speaker 4: but I would only wear it during one time of
- 3:26Speaker 4: the year, you know.
- 3:28Speaker 3: I mean, did you spend sixty dollars on a nineteen
- 3:31Speaker 3: nine cardigan?
- 3:32Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 3:33Speaker 4: Yeah, shut up? Over there.
- 3:36Speaker 3: I'm just saying I think sometimes we spend the money
- 3:39Speaker 3: on fun things.
- 3:40Speaker 4: I know, I agree they're really cute. Then on December second,
- 3:45Speaker 4: Benjamin Heirs and a few of his friends are hosting
- 3:49Speaker 4: a fan experience at Martini Town in Langley, British Columbia.
- 3:54Speaker 4: So the event's call is like supposed to be like
- 3:57Speaker 4: a fan experience, and it's called Martini Town, Mary and Bright,
- 4:03Speaker 4: and it is being held at a city themed backlot
- 4:07Speaker 4: where many of the Hallmark movies are filmed at. And
- 4:12Speaker 4: there's going to be panel discussions with Benjamin, Paul Campbell,
- 4:18Speaker 4: Kimberly Sustad, Victor Webster and a whole bunch of other people.
- 4:23Speaker 4: And I thought this would be so fun to go
- 4:26Speaker 4: to if it wasn't in Canada, you know what I mean.
- 4:30Speaker 3: I'm sure it's still fun in Canada. Just geographically undesirable
- 4:33Speaker 3: for us, I think, is what we're saying exactly. Canada
- 4:37Speaker 3: shade not a yeah, yeah, I would totally go to
- 4:41Speaker 3: this if it were in LA we would go in
- 4:43Speaker 3: a hartbeat, absolutely.
- 4:44Speaker 4: Because I wanted to share that the Warner Brothers back
- 4:48Speaker 4: Loot does something during the holiday season. They take the
- 4:52Speaker 4: area where they filmed Gilmore Girls, and they recreate the
- 4:56Speaker 4: town of Stars Hollow. I went last holiday season and
- 5:01Speaker 4: really geeked out, like it was so fun to be
- 5:04Speaker 4: in like this fictional town that you have watched for
- 5:09Speaker 4: so many years. So I just think that's so cool.
- 5:12Speaker 4: And what I read is Martini Town. That's what it's like,
- 5:17Speaker 4: a backlot Martini Town. The name throws me because of
- 5:21Speaker 4: Martini but red Bar.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Yes, you know.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Anyway, from December one through January first, fans are able
- 5:29Speaker 4: to visit this backlot at Martini Town, and it's going
- 5:33Speaker 4: to be all decked out for Christmas. I feel like
- 5:38Speaker 4: you're in your own Hallmark movie.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Like you're in your own Misslete Manner situation. Exactly. My goodness,
- 5:47Speaker 3: so fun. Shall we chat mystery on Mistletoe Lane?
- 5:50Speaker 4: Let's do it?
- 5:51Speaker 3: It's here A synopsis, all right, New.
- 5:54Speaker 4: To Town, Heidi Wick's and her kids discover a Christmas
- 5:57Speaker 4: mystery in their historic home. Local handyman and historian David
- 6:02Speaker 4: helps along the way, finding his own surprising connection. This
- 6:06Speaker 4: movie stars Erica Sarah and Victor Webster.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Alan Harmon directed. He has forty previous directing credits, plus
- 6:14Speaker 3: another forty three assistant director credits. His last movie for
- 6:17Speaker 3: Hallmark was Fourth Down in Love from earlier this year.
- 6:20Speaker 3: He also directed Mingle All the Way You're Baking Me
- 6:23Speaker 3: Crazy and Never Kiss a Man in a Christmas Sweater,
- 6:25Speaker 3: among others. I'm not going to say anything else except
- 6:29Speaker 3: I wonder why Wendy chose those three as the movies.
- 6:32Speaker 3: He's also directed I've never seen Your Bacon Me Crez either,
- 6:35Speaker 3: have I? That's the one of these things might not
- 6:38Speaker 3: belong here in that Yeah, those.
- 6:40Speaker 4: Other two movies have not been my favorite core So
- 6:43Speaker 4: Mark Hefty wrote this script. He has seventeen writing credits,
- 6:46Speaker 4: including submovies We Really Liked Here At Girls Gone, Hallmark,
- 6:49Speaker 4: Unexpected Grace, A Dickens of a Holiday, My Christmas Family Tree,
- 6:53Speaker 4: and Beverly Hill's Wedding. He's also the writer for the
- 6:57Speaker 4: upcoming Nikki di Looach movie A World Record Christmas, which, btw,
- 7:01Speaker 4: I saw commercial for this weekend and cried.
- 7:05Speaker 3: I am shocked by that. A not a crier. I'm
- 7:08Speaker 3: a crier. Whitey's not a crier. Also, BTW, rumor has
- 7:12Speaker 3: it that that movie dropped early on the Hallmark Movies
- 7:15Speaker 3: Now app So if you want to watch it now
- 7:17Speaker 3: and not wait until this weekend. You can do so
- 7:20Speaker 3: if you have Hallmark Movies app Victor Webster stars as
- 7:23Speaker 3: David Avery. Webster has ninety acting credits, including the Wedding
- 7:27Speaker 3: Veil Movies, Matchmaker Mysteries, A Christmas Cookie Catastrophe in which
- 7:31Speaker 3: the movie poster creators did him dirty, and Summer Villa.
- 7:35Speaker 3: He also played Mike in eleven episodes of Working Moms,
- 7:38Speaker 3: which you can stream on Netflix. And let me tell you,
- 7:41Speaker 3: if you only know Victor Webster from Hallmark, I suggest
- 7:44Speaker 3: just give him watch his first appearance on Working Moms.
- 7:48Speaker 3: It's a totally different side of him. He's an absolute jerk,
- 7:52Speaker 3: but a real hot one.
- 7:53Speaker 4: Mm hmm. Eric Is Sarah plays Heidi Wicks. She has
- 7:56Speaker 4: fifty acting credits, including quite a bit of voice work.
- 8:00Speaker 4: She's probably best known for a TV series called Eureka
- 8:04Speaker 4: that ran from two thousand and six to twenty twelve
- 8:07Speaker 4: on the Sci Fi channel You Know I didn't watch that.
- 8:10Speaker 4: This appears to be her first Hallmark project.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Juliette Hawk plays teen daughter Annie. She has seven previous
- 8:17Speaker 3: acting credits, including a Winning Team and Christmas at the
- 8:20Speaker 3: Golden Dragon for Hallmark. She also looks to have a
- 8:23Speaker 3: small role in the Paul Campbell movie Magic in Mistletoone.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Later this season, Logan Piers plays son Garrett. This is
- 8:31Speaker 3: his first Hallmark movie. Oh. Mary Beth Manning plays Linda
- 8:35Speaker 3: Sweet Linda. She has twenty one acting credits and this
- 8:37Speaker 3: is her second Hallmark movie. She was previously in the
- 8:41Speaker 3: TV movie Laker Girls starring Tinay Others in nineteen ninety
- 8:45Speaker 3: and what episode of an ABC after school special called
- 8:50Speaker 3: My Mother Was Never a Kid in nineteen eighty one?
- 8:54Speaker 4: Are you familiar with this Laker Girls movie?
- 8:56Speaker 3: Gosh, I don't know if my brain is mad manufacturing
- 9:00Speaker 3: memories because I'm like envisioning Tinayethers in a cheerleading.
- 9:06Speaker 4: But no, I don't think I am. Yeah, it was
- 9:08Speaker 4: like Tina Yethers. I can't remember if she was blonde
- 9:11Speaker 4: or brunette.
- 9:12Speaker 3: I'm picturing blonde in this made up memory my brain
- 9:15Speaker 3: is creating.
- 9:16Speaker 4: And Tina Yeathers, of course was from family ties. She
- 9:21Speaker 4: was the younger sister, right. Wow, this is pulling from
- 9:26Speaker 4: the archives the eighties, a long time ago. Anyway. Yeah,
- 9:29Speaker 4: the movie is about her trying out for the Laker Girls,
- 9:33Speaker 4: which is the dance cheer. They're a dance team for
- 9:37Speaker 4: the Los Angeles Lakers. It's real terrible, but I was
- 9:41Speaker 4: really into real terrible TV.
- 9:43Speaker 3: Movies back then, So as you are now, as I
- 9:46Speaker 3: am now.
- 9:50Speaker 4: Fred Henderson plays Wallace. Henderson has a staggering one hundred
- 9:54Speaker 4: and fifty three acting credits, including a ton of work
- 9:57Speaker 4: for Hallmark. He will also be seen in the upcoming
- 10:00Speaker 4: Christmas on Cherry Lane. Also also noteworthy, he recently appeared
- 10:07Speaker 4: in a new horror movie What Keep Going called Totally Killer,
- 10:14Speaker 4: which a good friend of mine who loves this genre
- 10:17Speaker 4: of movies recommended.
- 10:18Speaker 3: So that's so funny because people who listen to our
- 10:21Speaker 3: Patreon will know that I watch a lot of movies
- 10:25Speaker 3: via TikTok, Like TikTok shares scenes from a movie and
- 10:30Speaker 3: I end up watching multiple scenes and I'm like, oh,
- 10:32Speaker 3: I've seen the movie. Well, this was one of them,
- 10:35Speaker 3: And I actually have this in my watch list, even
- 10:38Speaker 3: though I don't watch horror movies. The fact that it's
- 10:40Speaker 3: like a throwback to the eighties, your mom's in high
- 10:45Speaker 3: school situation. I kind of am intrigued by it.
- 10:49Speaker 4: I know, I think I want to watch it.
- 10:51Speaker 3: We should.
- 10:52Speaker 4: This friend of mine said it was pretty good.
- 10:54Speaker 3: So this movie was filmed in British Columbia, Canada from
- 10:57Speaker 3: late August to early September twenty twenty three.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Are you ready, I'm gonna go. Yeah, knock knock, Who's there?
- 11:05Speaker 4: Ho ho ho ho ho ho. Hold on to your
- 11:09Speaker 4: hat because you might be surprised at what I've got
- 11:12Speaker 4: to say about this movie.
- 11:14Speaker 3: I love everything about what just happened. Well, I should
- 11:17Speaker 3: have gone first because it's gonna be such a disappointment
- 11:21Speaker 3: and it is simply welcome to Christmas mystery movies.
- 11:27Speaker 4: Ah, yes, yes, yes, no, that's a good one. Okay, right,
- 11:30Speaker 4: let's talk about what we liked.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Okay, Well, I overall, can I just say I was
- 11:36Speaker 3: pleasantly surprised by this movie.
- 11:38Speaker 4: Me too.
- 11:39Speaker 3: I found the experience as a whole to be really enjoyable.
- 11:43Speaker 3: I just thought like, oh, this movie is like a
- 11:46Speaker 3: warm hug of a movie to me. I liked all
- 11:49Speaker 3: the parts, even though in the beginning I was like,
- 11:52Speaker 3: oh no, oh no, it's not gonna go well. And
- 11:55Speaker 3: then it really came together for me.
- 11:57Speaker 4: You thought I wasn't gonna go well because David and
- 11:59Speaker 4: Hidie you didn't get along.
- 12:01Speaker 1: You know.
- 12:02Speaker 3: It starts off with like ugh, who's the ebenezer who
- 12:04Speaker 3: did this? And then you've got these kids who come
- 12:06Speaker 3: in and that are kind of nasty, and I thought,
- 12:08Speaker 3: oh no, and none of that really panned out the
- 12:11Speaker 3: way I was worried it would.
- 12:12Speaker 4: Mm hmm agree, I uh want to agree with you.
- 12:16Speaker 4: I really enjoyed this movie. Yeah, I personally thought it
- 12:21Speaker 4: was It was the fun hunt for the clues uh
- 12:24Speaker 4: huh led by the kids in this movie that really
- 12:28Speaker 4: reeled me in.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Are you pleasantly surprised by the children's roles in this movie?
- 12:34Speaker 4: I thought they were super enjoyable.
- 12:37Speaker 3: You know.
- 12:37Speaker 4: The storyline was pretty straightforward, but it was kind of
- 12:40Speaker 4: delightful too, and it kept me entertained from the beginning
- 12:43Speaker 4: to the end. I did not fall asleep. But with
- 12:46Speaker 4: that said, I was less interested in like the backstory
- 12:50Speaker 4: of Mistletoe Manner and the attempt to revive the town's
- 12:55Speaker 4: historical society. But it was all tied together nice at
- 13:00Speaker 4: the end.
- 13:01Speaker 3: So that's interesting you say that, because my thoughts were
- 13:05Speaker 3: I thought the event of the house came together quite
- 13:08Speaker 3: well at the end. But I spent a lot of
- 13:10Speaker 3: time watching this movie second guessing the desire to like
- 13:14Speaker 3: revive mistletoe manner. I was like, who cares, what are
- 13:16Speaker 3: you gonna do? Slap some lights on this house? That
- 13:19Speaker 3: they turned it into a whole event I really enjoyed.
- 13:23Speaker 3: I have thoughts on the timing of that event, of course,
- 13:26Speaker 3: but they've got story time and they've got you know,
- 13:29Speaker 3: hot chocolate and all these other things happening. I thought
- 13:33Speaker 3: it came together well. But I agree with you this
- 13:37Speaker 3: whole like, oh, mistletoe manner. What's special about mistletoe manner?
- 13:41Speaker 3: They didn't have me throughout on that.
- 13:44Speaker 4: I agree, I agree.
- 13:46Speaker 3: I want to talk about some of the stars of
- 13:47Speaker 3: this movie. Yes, please, Erica Sarah and her delightful voice.
- 13:52Speaker 3: I loved her voice. I just thought more of that, please,
- 13:56Speaker 3: I loved it. I saw in your notes that she
- 13:58Speaker 3: does do some voice work, and I think that's perfect
- 14:01Speaker 3: for her. I just found her voice really interesting to
- 14:03Speaker 3: listen to.
- 14:05Speaker 4: I agree. Let me tell you for a second. I
- 14:07Speaker 4: was on Reddit last night and people were talking about
- 14:09Speaker 4: this movie. A lot of people didn't really like it
- 14:11Speaker 4: because they thought it was gonna be like a murdery
- 14:13Speaker 4: Christmas movie. Uh huh. I just don't think Homework's.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Ready to go there yet.
- 14:19Speaker 4: But a lot of people were saying that Erica Sarah's
- 14:23Speaker 4: voice was too gravelly and annoying, and I disagree.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Look, I it's like straight up misogyny. Anytime someone says
- 14:32Speaker 3: they don't like someone's voice, it's always a woman. It's
- 14:34Speaker 3: always a woman. No one's like, I don't like that
- 14:35Speaker 3: man's voice. Nobody always says that except for you about
- 14:39Speaker 3: the Ford truck guy.
- 14:40Speaker 4: I have no idea what you're referring to a Ford
- 14:42Speaker 4: truck guy.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Hold on, give me a minute. Batman Martless, Oh, I'm
- 14:50Speaker 3: sure it's circuiting. What is his name? Man the lego host?
- 14:56Speaker 4: Is this a freaking name?
- 14:58Speaker 1: Yes?
- 14:58Speaker 4: I can't stand his voice.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Bateman will s hay, thank you and will wow fans.
- 15:08Speaker 3: I love his voice. But again, nobody ever says that
- 15:11Speaker 3: about men's voice. Typically. So go Pound sand Ready users
- 15:16Speaker 3: our other star of this movie. I found Victor Webster
- 15:20Speaker 3: as warm and dreamy as ever. I just found me
- 15:23Speaker 3: such a comforting presence. Like I just was imagining this
- 15:27Speaker 3: single mom moving to this town, having to start fresh
- 15:31Speaker 3: new job. She's moved her kids, they're not really happy.
- 15:34Speaker 3: She's got this whole house to set up, and incomes
- 15:36Speaker 3: Victor Webster to save the day in just this like
- 15:39Speaker 3: quietly strong way.
- 15:42Speaker 4: That's really interesting that you say that, because there is
- 15:45Speaker 4: this certain, like muchiesmo that I like about him. I
- 15:49Speaker 4: find I'm very drawn to huh. And I remember, specifically
- 15:54Speaker 4: in one of the Wedding Veil movies, there was this
- 15:58Speaker 4: whole like scene where he likes up for Ali Sweeney.
- 16:01Speaker 4: I can't even remember what it was, but I was like, hello,
- 16:04Speaker 4: I like that.
- 16:06Speaker 3: I agree.
- 16:07Speaker 4: I really enjoyed him in this movie. And I thought
- 16:12Speaker 4: these two were like a nice sexy pair in a
- 16:16Speaker 4: very non sexy movie.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Mm hmmm, mm hmm. There was just something about him
- 16:21Speaker 3: them together.
- 16:22Speaker 4: I loved it.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Finally, I like to say yay for Linda and Wallace.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Oh and yeah that was sweet, Like he goes, I
- 16:28Speaker 3: don't need a coffee.
- 16:29Speaker 4: I just wanted to come say hi to you.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Oh sweet Wallace.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Yeah that's sweet. I guess like it was sweet. I
- 16:34Speaker 4: mean those Wallace's storyline was. I mean, Linda was just
- 16:38Speaker 4: like a side player here in this movie.
- 16:40Speaker 3: I just loved Linda. Look, I like those supportive characters,
- 16:44Speaker 3: like you're not on your own. She was on Heidie's
- 16:46Speaker 3: side the whole time. I just like she had Heidie's back,
- 16:49Speaker 3: and I really liked Linda. So speaking of the kids
- 16:52Speaker 3: in this movie, mm hmmm.
- 16:54Speaker 4: I thought Juliette Hawk knelled the MOPy but sweet teenage daughter.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Hmmm.
- 17:01Speaker 4: And Logan Pierce, who played the little brother, was really
- 17:04Speaker 4: cute too. I thought they were believable as a brother
- 17:08Speaker 4: sister pair. It was real cute how they were like
- 17:10Speaker 4: working together to find the clues, and uh, I enjoyed them.
- 17:16Speaker 3: I agree. They were a nice addition to this movie
- 17:19Speaker 3: and not almost the most compelling storyline of the movie.
- 17:24Speaker 4: Agree. Finally, I have some thoughts on Wallace played by
- 17:27Speaker 4: Fred Henderson. There were some things like I really like,
- 17:30Speaker 4: like how he was helping the kids and he was
- 17:33Speaker 4: engaged in the hunt for the clues and giving them
- 17:35Speaker 4: like a little bit of hints and all that stuff.
- 17:37Speaker 4: But in contrast, there was no reason for him to
- 17:42Speaker 4: keep this big secret from his adult son.
- 17:45Speaker 1: None.
- 17:46Speaker 4: It was simple, there was a reasonable explanation. There was
- 17:49Speaker 4: no need to make it bigger than what it was.
- 17:52Speaker 3: You would have thought there had been an actual murder
- 17:54Speaker 3: in this house.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Not.
- 17:55Speaker 3: This was a place of sad memories for me. That's
- 17:58Speaker 3: all you needed to say.
- 17:59Speaker 4: Totally, Yeah, He's just like, leave it alone, David.
- 18:02Speaker 3: It's like, well, what, yeah, are there bones buried in
- 18:06Speaker 3: the shed? Sir?
- 18:08Speaker 4: Exactly exactly. I have one little scene that maye swoon
- 18:13Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Oh and you.
- 18:15Speaker 4: Know the the movies on the Mystery Channel, Movies and Mysteries.
- 18:22Speaker 4: It was like it escaped me for a second. They
- 18:26Speaker 4: don't typically make me swoon. But there was a scene
- 18:29Speaker 4: when David kisses Heidi's hand on a missilete. I was like,
- 18:35Speaker 4: that's that's all you gotta do, guys, that's it. It's
- 18:38Speaker 4: that simple, that simple.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Just watch this movie. Be like Victor Webster. It's that easy, y'all.
- 18:46Speaker 4: All right, let's talk about what we wished for.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Okay, even though I loved the event at the house,
- 18:51Speaker 3: they needed to change the timing. Nobody's coming to a
- 18:54Speaker 3: community event on Christmas Eve. No, nobody's gonna be there.
- 18:56Speaker 3: Nobody's bailing on their family plan to come to this
- 19:01Speaker 3: community event. They're just not And I don't fully understand
- 19:05Speaker 3: why Hallmark is so committed. I guess because it creates
- 19:08Speaker 3: this sense of urgency, like we got to get it
- 19:10Speaker 3: done by Christmas Eve. Well, how about we got to
- 19:12Speaker 3: get it done by December first, so we have a
- 19:14Speaker 3: full season to actually capitalize on this event. Right, how
- 19:18Speaker 3: is one night helping you? And then I think it
- 19:21Speaker 3: carries as much weight launching this on December first, and
- 19:24Speaker 3: then like, look what you're gonna have for this whole season?
- 19:27Speaker 4: Right? I agree with you. Okay, I agree with you,
- 19:31Speaker 4: and tell us if we're wrong, because maybe you and
- 19:35Speaker 4: I are the only ones you do stuff with families
- 19:37Speaker 4: on Christmas Eve?
- 19:38Speaker 3: Maybe look, and I think also let me say that,
- 19:42Speaker 3: I think when you potentially are married or you're in
- 19:46Speaker 3: a partnership and you have multiple extended families to deal with,
- 19:50Speaker 3: that's when Christmas Eve between like my family and my
- 19:53Speaker 3: husband's family and all the grandparents, like we have to
- 19:55Speaker 3: do something on Christmas Eve, and we have to do
- 19:56Speaker 3: something on Christmas Day to satisfy all of those needs. Right,
- 20:00Speaker 3: But maybe some people are like looking around for something
- 20:02Speaker 3: to do Christmas Eve.
- 20:03Speaker 4: Maybe I need to know about it.
- 20:05Speaker 1: M M.
- 20:05Speaker 4: When I was told you earlier that I didn't like
- 20:08Speaker 4: love the whole backstory on mistletoe manner, and I think
- 20:10Speaker 4: this is why I would have cared more about the
- 20:14Speaker 4: history of the house. If we were given some sort
- 20:18Speaker 4: of visual backstory on it.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Maybe instead of just that like weird black and white print.
- 20:25Speaker 4: There's that, and then Heidi and David are at the
- 20:29Speaker 4: library researching it and they're reading out loud about it,
- 20:33Speaker 4: Like I think it would have been a better opportunity
- 20:36Speaker 4: to show us what it looked like. Or or when
- 20:40Speaker 4: Wallace comes to town and he visits the house, do
- 20:42Speaker 4: you remember that he like walks upside the house and
- 20:44Speaker 4: he like.
- 20:44Speaker 3: His flashback memories, give me a childhood memory something the
- 20:49Speaker 3: show how important the.
- 20:50Speaker 4: House was to him or the community or something. Dress
- 20:54Speaker 4: the house up, make it look old timey something.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Mm hmmm, yes, I would more. Yes, even take that
- 21:02Speaker 3: final end scene where it's dressed up and like cep
- 21:04Speaker 3: a tonate in Wallace's memory, Like that's good.
- 21:07Speaker 4: That would work for me, exactly exactly.
- 21:12Speaker 3: My next there's a bunch of questions. Okay, who moves
- 21:16Speaker 3: into a new house and doesn't explore it? That is
- 21:18Speaker 3: in my digite that Okay, I apologize.
- 21:21Speaker 4: You don't have to apologize.
- 21:24Speaker 3: How do are they? Like, Oh there's a carriage house,
- 21:26Speaker 3: Oh there's all of these things. The first thing I
- 21:29Speaker 3: do is I'm going to walk through that house. I'm
- 21:31Speaker 3: gonna learn how many rooms are there and what stuff
- 21:35Speaker 3: has been left behind. I'm not gonna constantly be surprised
- 21:38Speaker 3: by turning a corner and finding a giant nutcracker staring
- 21:40Speaker 3: at me like you, there is no chance I wouldn't
- 21:44Speaker 3: have gone in that carriage house. I would have been
- 21:45Speaker 3: able to just let it sit out there for days unopened.
- 21:48Speaker 4: Zero.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Yep, gotta know what's in it?
- 21:51Speaker 4: Me too, well, I'll say, here's my digite that it
- 21:55Speaker 4: just goes nicely here when the power goes out, and
- 21:57Speaker 4: hiding the kids. I think they're in the base. Mm hmmm,
- 22:01Speaker 4: it's where that big nutcracker? Where is that? What are
- 22:04Speaker 4: we talking about?
- 22:04Speaker 3: Unclear? In the house?
- 22:05Speaker 4: To me, where it is. The hallway they're walking down
- 22:09Speaker 4: is just filled with dusty cobwebs. I'm like, nobody cleaned
- 22:13Speaker 4: this house before you moved into it, right? It doesn't
- 22:16Speaker 4: make any sense to me?
- 22:17Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 22:18Speaker 4: Anyway, do you want to go on with your questions?
- 22:21Speaker 3: My next question is why is this movie called Mystery
- 22:24Speaker 3: on Mistletoe Lane and not Mystery at Mistletoe manor?
- 22:27Speaker 4: Very good question. I don't think they lived on Mistletoe Lane,
- 22:31Speaker 4: did they?
- 22:31Speaker 3: Maybe they did, but there's nothing about the street. There's
- 22:34Speaker 3: no discussion of the street. We meet the neighbor across
- 22:36Speaker 3: the street, who happens to also be married to the mayor.
- 22:39Speaker 3: I just thought the movie was poorly named Mystery at
- 22:42Speaker 3: Mistletoe manor how hard. Maybe they had bigger plans for
- 22:48Speaker 3: the event and then production They're like, m gotta be
- 22:51Speaker 3: one house. We got the budget to decorate one house, y'all.
- 22:56Speaker 3: And finally, how is the former director of the Historical
- 22:59Speaker 3: Society available to basically be the co director of the
- 23:02Speaker 3: Historical Society? Unpaid?
- 23:04Speaker 4: Yeah? I don't understand. Why did he leave the position?
- 23:07Speaker 4: That was never clear?
- 23:08Speaker 3: Right, Well, he's gonna start his renovation business. Oh really,
- 23:13Speaker 3: I'd like completely missed that. I think so, But he
- 23:16Speaker 3: doesn't appear to be doing much of that. Interesting.
- 23:20Speaker 4: Here's the final thing I wished for.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 23:23Speaker 4: The threat of Heidi losing her job at the Historical
- 23:26Speaker 4: Society based on the turnout at the hashtag tributary was
- 23:32Speaker 4: totally unnecessary, as was the town council meeting. I hear
- 23:37Speaker 4: a but.
- 23:38Speaker 3: No, but no, I have additional information. Yes, I just
- 23:43Speaker 3: thought it.
- 23:43Speaker 4: Was dumb, like, here's an unwarranted obstacle that we're going
- 23:47Speaker 4: to place in your way to like jeopardize the potential
- 23:49Speaker 4: of Heidi and David maybe getting together. It just was nonsense.
- 23:53Speaker 4: I mean, it's nonsense for the Hallmark Channel, but not
- 23:56Speaker 4: for movies and mysteries. Do you know what I mean?
- 23:59Speaker 3: Yeah? Well, well agree. I thought it was you're going
- 24:02Speaker 3: to hire this person and then give her two weeks
- 24:04Speaker 3: to make a difference.
- 24:05Speaker 4: Come on, Yeah, And I don't even think there was
- 24:08Speaker 4: no assignment like you have to come turn the Historical
- 24:11Speaker 4: Society around in two weeks before Christmas? Was there?
- 24:14Speaker 3: No, that was unclear. It was I think you're right,
- 24:17Speaker 3: this event didn't go well, therefore get fired. Also, at
- 24:21Speaker 3: the Historical Society town hall meeting, there are no less
- 24:24Speaker 3: than ten Christmas trees between the hallway and the interior
- 24:27Speaker 3: of the meeting. And you're telling me that this is
- 24:28Speaker 3: a town that's going to vote against her mistletone manner event.
- 24:33Speaker 4: Yeah, right now?
- 24:35Speaker 3: You ready for did you see that?
- 24:37Speaker 4: I am?
- 24:38Speaker 3: Did you know there was a Nora Jones song in
- 24:40Speaker 3: this movie? No, didn't even hear it while they're ice skating.
- 24:44Speaker 3: It's called Christmas Glow. And I only know that because
- 24:46Speaker 3: Nora Jones herself posted about it on Twitter.
- 24:50Speaker 4: Did she record that song for this movie or is
- 24:54Speaker 4: it an old song?
- 24:55Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 24:56Speaker 4: Okay, speaking of music, I loved that old record player
- 25:02Speaker 4: a cabinet thing.
- 25:03Speaker 3: Oh yeah, someone in.
- 25:05Speaker 4: My family had one at one point, because.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Like, it brings me a lot of joy to see it.
- 25:09Speaker 4: I can't tell you who had one, but I know
- 25:12Speaker 4: someone had one, and I kind of wish I had
- 25:14Speaker 4: one for my house, Like, if I had room for it,
- 25:16Speaker 4: I think it'd be so cool.
- 25:18Speaker 3: Yes, I love that. By the way, Nora Jones Christmas
- 25:20Speaker 3: Glow came out in twenty twenty one, so it was
- 25:22Speaker 3: not written for this movie. Got it one tiny? Did
- 25:26Speaker 3: you see that they're handing out flyers about their event,
- 25:29Speaker 3: flyers and cookies to promote mistletoe manner, and then they
- 25:34Speaker 3: just all go skating And I was like, were they
- 25:35Speaker 3: just standing there in skates handing out flyers? And I
- 25:38Speaker 3: said that out loud to my husband's like, no, they
- 25:40Speaker 3: want to put on skates, And I was like, the
- 25:41Speaker 3: scene goes from them walking away directly onto the ice,
- 25:45Speaker 3: so maybe they did go put on skates, but it
- 25:48Speaker 3: certainly seems like they were just booted up and ready
- 25:51Speaker 3: to go boot it up.
- 25:53Speaker 4: That's funny. The scene where Heidi is putting out Christmas
- 25:57Speaker 4: decorations at their house. She hasn't unpacked anything else, but
- 26:01Speaker 4: she chooses to unpack the Christmas decord, which I think
- 26:04Speaker 4: she was doing because like the kids were coming and
- 26:07Speaker 4: she wanted to make it feel like homey and special
- 26:10Speaker 4: to them. But she has these existing shelves and like
- 26:13Speaker 4: just like the perfect box of Christmas decorations that just
- 26:16Speaker 4: fit perfectly right on all these shelves. Like, come on,
- 26:18Speaker 4: we all know, and he's a little finessing. You can't
- 26:21Speaker 4: just like put it up there and be done right.
- 26:23Speaker 4: She had the perfect staging for every one of those shelves,
- 26:26Speaker 4: exactly exactly when they go out to the restaurant, he's
- 26:31Speaker 4: I don't know, they're she's picking up dinner and he's
- 26:34Speaker 4: eating chowder and they share a spoon to eat the chowder.
- 26:38Speaker 4: And tell me why I'm so grossed out by that?
- 26:41Speaker 2: Kids.
- 26:42Speaker 3: I agree, that's a good point. I don't want to
- 26:46Speaker 3: eat off of anybody's soup spoon.
- 26:48Speaker 4: No, that's like literally makes my stomach turn thinking about it.
- 26:53Speaker 4: Of course it did.
- 26:54Speaker 3: Although I was like, oh, I kind of want some chowder.
- 26:59Speaker 4: Well, who's going to Massachusetts this week? It's me and
- 27:02Speaker 4: you Met. I'm going to get some chowder. I have
- 27:05Speaker 4: two more. Did you see that? At least when Wallace
- 27:07Speaker 4: walks up to visit Mistletoe Manor, there is the most
- 27:11Speaker 4: offensive digital snow lined roof. It almost looks cartoonish so bad.
- 27:17Speaker 4: Did you see it?
- 27:18Speaker 3: I did. I almost rewound it but it did not.
- 27:21Speaker 3: But yes, it.
- 27:22Speaker 4: Looked like a cartoon. I was like, well, what am
- 27:24Speaker 4: I looking at here? This is awful.
- 27:27Speaker 3: It's August. It's like Disney Snow where they have like
- 27:30Speaker 3: the plastic tufts of snow over the castle.
- 27:33Speaker 4: Yes, that's exactly what it looked like exactly. And my
- 27:37Speaker 4: final did you see that? Heidi talks about this Christmas
- 27:41Speaker 4: tree being seen through the windows at the Historical Society
- 27:45Speaker 4: and it's going to draw people to come in. Well,
- 27:47Speaker 4: the night of their party, the windows are covered with
- 27:52Speaker 4: like sheer window coverings but still covered. I'm like, nobody
- 27:55Speaker 4: can see your awesome tree, but the drapes closed. If
- 28:00Speaker 4: you're trying to get people open your drapes.
- 28:02Speaker 3: Excellent point. Also, you alluded to it before, but during
- 28:06Speaker 3: the when the tribute tree takes off, Heidi shows up
- 28:10Speaker 3: and there's all these people there, and Linda's like, they
- 28:13Speaker 3: saw something called a hashtag. And once again, I am
- 28:18Speaker 3: begging you to ask one of the under twenty five
- 28:21Speaker 3: year olds on your production staff how to talk about
- 28:24Speaker 3: social media in a way that doesn't make you sound
- 28:26Speaker 3: like a boso.
- 28:27Speaker 4: Well even one of those kids could have been like yo, Linda,
- 28:31Speaker 4: they just want to dumb it down for the audience
- 28:33Speaker 4: set doesn't understand it.
- 28:34Speaker 3: Yeah, but just they saw it on social media. They
- 28:37Speaker 3: saw something called a hashtag. They didn't see the hashtag.
- 28:39Speaker 3: The hashtag is what made it go viral, but they didn't.
- 28:42Speaker 3: It's all I'm saying. Sometimes you talk about niche things
- 28:46Speaker 3: and they drive me crazy.
- 28:47Speaker 4: I know.
- 28:47Speaker 3: I know. Let's rate this bad Boy four point two
- 28:50Speaker 3: five stars.
- 28:51Speaker 4: I gave it four stars. I thought it was a
- 28:53Speaker 4: great family movie, Like anybody could watch this, you know,
- 28:57Speaker 4: like the family could sit down and watch this cue movie.
- 29:00Speaker 3: I agree. I think we are ramping up to some
- 29:03Speaker 3: stronger movies after a handful of misses this season so far.
- 29:08Speaker 3: If Victor Webster is your favorite Hallmark dude, guess what
- 29:12Speaker 3: we need you to open up the Apple podcast app
- 29:15Speaker 3: and leave us a five star rating, interview letting everybody
- 29:17Speaker 3: know how much you love Girls Gone Hallmark. We'll be
- 29:21Speaker 3: back later this week with a review of Christmas Island.
- 29:25Speaker 3: Come back for that. Thanks for listening. Goodbye bye
