It's Kim and my co host. Grandma Gail. So as you guys can tell, if you are watching the episode, we are not in our typical setting. We're in the Spotify offices here in New York recording our pod for this very special Mother's Day episode. Exactly.
• 1:29
Grandma is very thrown off by the new setting.
• 1:31
Speaker 3: I'm thrown off by the new setting because usually the cameras are in front, and I can see if my hair is out of place. But now whatever it is, you'll see me au naturel.
• 1:40
Speaker 2: Well, you look the same.
• 1:42
Speaker 3: No. No. Sometimes it's a little bit different.
• 1:45
Speaker 2: It's actually funny. I had no idea you stared at yourself while we recorded. I do. And that you always listen back to our episodes. I always
• 1:53
Speaker 3: do do that. I like to listen because I like to hear how stupid we sometimes are. Speak for yourself. I actually sometimes think to myself, oh, I shouldn't have said that or oh, I wish I had said that. I don't listen to the whole thing necessarily.
• 2:08
  You know
• 2:08
Speaker 2: what everyone has their different craft like if you are better by re listening to yourself, love that for you. I think I would pick apart everything because I already edit a lot of our stuff.
• 2:18
Speaker 3: Well that's it so you've gone over it. I don't edit so I don't really know if I made a mistake here or there and wanna correct it the next time.
• 2:24
Speaker 2: That's fair. The office here is great, though. We got a little sneak peek and
• 2:29
Speaker 3: The view. The view, Carrie. First of all, to have an office that you can look out and see the Statue Of Liberty and all the beautiful buildings in downtown and the water, it's just breath taking. You had that when you worked Yeah.
• 2:41
Speaker 2: When I used to work at Cheddar because it wasn't far from here.
• 2:43
Speaker 3: No. Was Financial District. Actually, where you work was a little easier to get to.
• 2:47
Speaker 2: It was right off the highway.
• 2:48
Speaker 3: Right. Yeah. So this was a little tricky. This was a little tricky. We had to ask a couple of people.
• 2:53
Speaker 2: Well, I think not to put you on the spot, but whenever you take an Uber or Lyft, you like to tell the driver where to
• 3:00
Speaker 3: tell him this time. The guy was so poor man was so confused. And I kept saying, why don't you put it on so I can hear it too? He didn't know what he was doing. Finally, I just said, get it work.
• 3:10
Speaker 2: Just ride yellow because that
• 3:11
Speaker 3: is what makes you feel that uncomfortable. Happy.
• 3:13
Speaker 2: Yeah. So here's what we're gonna discuss in the episode today so you guys know what to expect. We're going to recap our Mother's Day event from yesterday, which was at Blushington. We're gonna talk all about different Mother's Day and mom topics from what makes a good mom today versus back then.
• 3:35
  Speaker 3: Same thing.
• 3:37
Speaker 2: Mom guilt. And obviously, we're going to answer all the questions from the AskGrandmaAnything that you wrote in on Instagram. We're going to go through a few articles, including why girls in the West Village all look the same. So let's get into it. Grandma, first of all, happy early Mother's Day.
• 3:55
Speaker 3: Thank you. You already gave me my gift, which I for those who don't know, we always do pictures of each other. She always gives me the best picture from some place where
• 4:04
Speaker 2: we work comfortable. I thought I hadn't given
• 4:06
Speaker 3: you frame. Oh. No. I got one with sparkles last year and my wedding dress.
• 4:10
Speaker 2: That was a few years ago.
• 4:11
Speaker 3: I don't know. I keep them all over. This one's on my right near my bed. I love it. Good.
• 4:15
It's a beautiful one. From Truly gifted. Very.
• 4:18
Speaker 2: And they have a lot of very, like, customizable gift options, which is great, cards, everything.
• 4:25
Speaker 3: So things are so much easier. That's the one thing I have to say. You can do everything on your phone or on your computer. I'm I'm not so good at that, but you are very good, and my husband is very good.
• 4:35
  Speaker 2: Mhmm.
• 4:36
Speaker 3: Excellent. And and of course, your mother, I don't think she ever walks into a store, including a grocery store anymore. She orders everything Instacart. Yeah.
• 4:44
Speaker 2: Question, and we'll get to this later, have more questions about this, but would you get your daughter, my mom, a Mother's Day gift for being a mom, or do you only get your mom a Mother's Day gift?
• 4:54
Speaker 3: Usually it's just your mom. Yeah. Or if your daughter just became a mom.
• 4:59
  Speaker 2: Okay.
• 4:59
Speaker 3: Then I think it's definitely appropriate to give it. Usually I don't give the my daughter or my daughter-in-law a gift. What about The gift is me. I keep giving. Yeah.
• 5:09
Speaker 2: Right. Yeah. True. I think if you're a mom, don't have to
• 5:12
Speaker 3: get anyone else again. Right, exactly.
• 5:14
Speaker 2: But what about if you're a husband or dad?
• 5:17
Speaker 3: Well I was gonna say you know it's so interesting, I thought of that on the way here today. My dad used to always, when we were younger, when the children are younger, used to always give my mother a little piece of jewelry. Whether it was real costume jewelry or real jewelry, it had beautiful taste. And I was thinking to myself when I was watching the meth thing with all the little broaches on everybody's lapel, I've got to go look in the drawer and see if I can find some of those.
• 5:41
Speaker 2: Can we do that later?
• 5:42
Speaker 3: Yeah. I know you're going to be looking at that drawer. He used to do something and he used to sign the children's names on it and you know from the children.
• 5:51
Speaker 2: Because that's the thing too. Let's say you're a mom but you have kids that are 15 and they're not paying for that.
• 5:57
Speaker 3: Think it's the dad's responsibility to then even though he has a mom hopefully. Right. He should do both gifts.
• 6:04
Speaker 2: Yeah. What's wild though is like why do we even expect men to remember these things?
• 6:08
Speaker 3: I think they do.
• 6:10
Speaker 2: I don't know. What does Poppy get you Mother's Day gifts?
• 6:12
Speaker 3: No but my son always does and my daughter always does. Like I don't know. Poppy now I know you know he's he gives me whatever I want basically but we're not into too many gifts anymore. I mean, we're looking to deemphasize what we have. We would like to get rid of a lot of the stuff we have.
• 6:31
So we're not we're definitely not buying things for each other, materials.
• 6:35
Speaker 2: Yeah. But flowers? I
• 6:37
Speaker 3: don't know. Flowers are card. Yeah.
• 6:38
Speaker 2: Yeah. I feel like Mother's Day is more about spending the time together doing a activity, a lunch, whatever it is,
• 6:44
  Speaker 3: rather than Always.
• 6:45
  Speaker 2: Big gifts.
• 6:46
Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, I don't think a big gift is warranted. I think a little card is always appropriate. It's lovely. And I used to love, like, red roses or tulip.
• 6:55
Actually, any of the spring flowers that were available, I always think that's the prettiest gift to give.
• 7:01
Speaker 2: So in a little bit, I wanna recap our Mother's Day event, but first, was thinking we could start with some of the ask grandma anything questions because they were all Mother's Day related. Alright. So we had people write in something that you and your mom always disagree on, but you love her anyway. And these were some of the responses.
• 7:26
  Speaker 3: Okay.
• 7:28
Speaker 2: Someone said, sharing family news. So like, mom tells everyone everything. And they're like why do you have to I actually get this one. Sometimes I tell mom something and suddenly all her friends know about it.
• 7:40
Speaker 3: Well unless it's a very big secret what's the difference ma'am? It's usually something good hopefully that you wanna share with people that you love or or really spend a lot of time with. That I don't think is I mean, if it's a deep dark secret, I don't think anybody should share anything. But otherwise, it's for everybody to know.
• 7:58
Speaker 2: Okay. Some other Mother's Day related Handling a mother-in-law when you're not close, but you and your mom are, and you all live in the same city.
• 8:08
Speaker 3: I think you have to be respectful, and I think you have to share. It's the one day a mother is a mother. You do have a husband that has a mother, so you have to be just as kind to him as you would be to your mother. Naturally, you don't feel the same probably towards her as you do your mom. Many times you do.
• 8:24
I mean, I was very close with my mother-in-law, and I would do the same thing I did for my mom as I did for her. But that's unusual. I think most people don't. But if you're in the same city, you certainly should spend time together. One could if you'd if the families don't usually do it together, then do one for lunch and one for dinner or do one for a late brunch in the morning.
• 8:46
But definitely both deserve to be celebrated.
• 8:50
Speaker 2: They said, is your mom jealous of your relationship with your grandma? Definitely not.
• 8:54
Speaker 3: No. No. But we have a very unusual relationship. First of all, we're very we're all very close. Yeah.
• 8:59
And actually, your mom likes for you to get the brunt of all the craziness of this. She's not really big into this. She enjoys thinking about it and and perhaps sharing it with her friends, but she doesn't want to be that involved. If she wanted to be she would be.
• 9:15
Speaker 2: But she also doesn't care. Yeah.
• 9:16
Speaker 3: Well she's not she's she's a much more private person. She would never want you in her closet.
• 9:22
Speaker 2: Would She would say she would want us in the closet but I don't think she'd want to be trying the clothes on. Like there's a I don't know where the barriers are but like she'll tell me all of her thoughts on all of our videos.
• 9:32
  Speaker 3: Oh she does?
• 9:33
Speaker 2: Oh she texts me and she's like you you like this sounded this wasn't funny. Oh really? Or like this was boring.
• 9:40
Speaker 3: Oh she never tells me that so
• 9:41
Speaker 2: okay good. Well she knows I'm the one like curating me the Yes all right so she's being constructive. Of course constructive.
• 9:48
Speaker 3: Okay Grandma Gail's advice when you've lost your mom. That's something that you really never get over. A mother is a mother and you never really forget her. So do perhaps do something as a family that she might have liked to have done. You know, go to maybe the same restaurant.
• 10:06
If you're making if you're home and there was always a special dish that she liked, make the dish. And and, you know, I often go by where my mom lived, and I look up and I say to the window, happy Mother's Day. You know? It's what it is. I mean, you know, you have, feelings about your mother and your father that you really never forget.
• 10:24
Don't forget, Father's Day is coming up soon too. And the same goes for that. I mean it's a love that is really surpasses all other loves, your parents, and it's special. It's interesting.
• 10:36
Speaker 2: I feel like when I don't know. I'm sure everyone feels different and has their different process, but when someone's passed, when they're like talking to them or connecting with them, I feel like it is often out the window or outside. Like why
• 10:47
Speaker 3: is that? Well, don't know. I I that I then I can't answer you. For me, it was because I lived across the street from my mom. I would look up and pretend literally, I would see my mom waving to me in the morning and my father.
• 11:00
So that was something that I really had. I think it's just a matter of looking up to the heavens.
• 11:06
  Speaker 2: Yeah. Right.
• 11:07
Speaker 3: It's really not that you're looking in the air and talking, but you're thinking of in a, you know, in an ethereal way about your parents. Mhmm. Makes sense. No longer around. But they're always around in your heart.
• 11:18
Mhmm. I really do believe that. Of course.
• 11:21
Speaker 2: Okay. Let's talk about our event.
• 11:23
Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. We had a fun time yesterday. We really did. Firstly, we got dressed up in Tori Birch sent us both beautiful outfits that we happened to have picked out white. You had an adorable white sundress.
• 11:34
I had a white with little black
• 11:36
Speaker 2: trim I and tried on a few different options.
• 11:39
Speaker 3: Yeah. But this was more your type.
• 11:40
Speaker 2: Yeah. Like at first I tried like a mini skirt and jacket but it was a little like stiff for a specific event.
• 11:47
Speaker 3: And also when you're doing an event, this is some advice for those people out there that are doing maybe a parent teacher's thing or some business activity. You have to be comfortable. Yeah. And I said that to you. The jacket would not have been flexible.
• 11:59
It was cute, and it was very wearable Totally. If you wore it out for dinner and you took it off in a restaurant or you went to a movie and you took it off. But if you had to be running around and talking to people and going on a mic and then doing it it wasn't flexible enough. So this way, the sundress really gave you the ability to not be restricted. Restricted.
• 12:19
Speaker 2: And then there were some really cute, like, collared sweater, like Yeah. Shirt things that I was thinking about, but the dress felt really festive.
• 12:26
Speaker 3: It was perfect. It was it was a perfect eye thing, and I think everybody it was interesting. We had so many more people. We were sold out which was really wonderful because we didn't know how it would go. And we gave this event for Mother's Day as well as the charity that we got very involved with.
• 12:47
Speaker 2: Yes. Bottomless Closet which donates to disadvantaged women to help them feel empowered to go back into the workforce. So we had a donation box that'll actually be at Washington We had
• 13:00
Speaker 3: two big boxes that they filled up immediately because everybody was terrific. Yeah. They came in with shopping bags. One woman was bringing in all kinds of costume jewelry. I was thinking of going through the box.
• 13:10
  Yeah.
• 13:11
Speaker 2: I know. It looks like good stuff.
• 13:12
  Speaker 3: It was.
• 13:13
Speaker 2: Lovely. The the box will be at Blushington all month long, and you can also go to Blushington and get the Kim look or the Gale look all month long, which was something we had at the event, like, get grandma's classic blowout, and to get some of my, like, favorite glowy makeup tips.
• 13:30
Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. And they put a false eye. Of course, I didn't do it, but you had very pretty false eyelashes on. It was very it was fun. We had a lot of fun.
• 13:37
Everybody got into the spirit of it. Mhmm. And then the food was delicious that you got. I don't know. That was really wonderful.
• 13:42
Didn't know you're gonna have all that stuff.
• 13:44
Speaker 2: Well, you didn't know because you weren't part of the planning. Well, I
• 13:47
Speaker 3: wouldn't have ever planned that. I would have given them a pretzel. So you they're lucky that grandma wasn't doing the planning.
• 13:53
Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, it's always interesting to try something new as creators and business owners. And I really as you said, like, didn't know how it would go, but so much effort and time went into it. It looked
• 14:05
Speaker 3: it, by the way.
• 14:06
Speaker 2: Thank you. It was really amazing that we did sell out so quickly after you know we only were promoting it for like a week or so and we had to cap it due to the space capacity.
• 14:16
Speaker 3: You couldn't have more than that. We had almost 100 people in there. That was getting to be too tight.
• 14:21
Speaker 2: And more kept RSVPing so then we had to cut it off unfortunately. But Right.
• 14:24
Speaker 3: We'll do another one with something at some other place.
• 14:27
Speaker 2: Yeah. And I loved it. People really followed the assignment too. Like, told people if they could bring the donations and they did. We asked people to bring a family member since it was a Mother's Day event and, like, excuse my grandma, it's always a family affair.
• 14:40
And people really did come with their mom and their aunt and their Right. So I was really happy that we had such a large turnout and such impact on our audience and that we were able to sell out. So it felt like really successful.
• 14:53
Speaker 3: No. And your team was great. I mean, they all did a great job. It was it was a really terrific day.
• 14:57
Speaker 2: So day before I went to set up and it was hilarious because there was this one woman who was getting, like, her hair or makeup done when we were setting up, and she was so curious to what we were doing that even after she finished, she was like to the Blushington people, can I eat my pizza here and continue to watch them?
• 15:15
Speaker 3: It was like a show.
• 15:16
Speaker 2: Yeah. And the so then and she kept asking us things, which was funny. But, yeah, that was just hilarious. And then day of, we got a few hours early to the, events to Blushington to set up and everything. And throughout the event, I feel like everyone who kept coming in wrenched beeline to you and was like, does my skirt go with my was very yes.
• 15:37
Should I have worn these shoes?
• 15:39
Speaker 3: Well, you know, it's interesting. I give free free advice. I I I'm in no way shape form working for Vogue, so don't take it literally. If you like the skirt the way it is, it's perfect. But, you know, after we meet so many young people and I meet so many young people, I've gotten so accustomed to telling you what to do.
• 15:57
It's just a natural thing. Actually, the the woman who was the owner of the boutique said, which shoe should I wear? The higher here or the lower here? I I said, you know what? Whichever makes you comfortable because they were both very nice.
• 16:10
But, you know, often you need an outside person
• 16:12
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 16:13
Speaker 3: To take a peek at your look because I know we're very short. So we have gotten better at it. You can't look at design that's meant for the models on the runway on the that or six one and have, no busts and no behinds and have legs that go up like four miles. You have to know your proportions. And there are certain styles and certain designers that just don't work for us.
• 16:37
And after a while, you get to know it. Yeah. So the long skirt and the full skirt looks good on some people. On a very short person, they're not always so flattering. So we have to really be careful with our style.
• 16:49
Hopefully as you get everyone gets more mature, we realize this one style is is not one stop shop. Right. Like you're going to talk about that article that was in the paper.
• 17:00
Speaker 2: Oh yeah we'll get to that when we get to
• 17:02
Speaker 3: But that fits your right
• 17:03
Speaker 2: into it. Also I feel like if I'm going to psychoanalyze which I love to do I think people love getting validation from someone who seems like they know what they're talking about or it's very I don't know. No nonsense. And you do know what you're talking about about a
• 17:21
Speaker 3: lot things. I've got it down for myself. You know, I wouldn't you know, when I I certainly know what looks good on you and on your mom. Yeah. Other people I can't judge because, you know, I haven't seen their style as often.
• 17:34
But, you know, your eye gets sort of trained there for a while.
• 17:38
Speaker 2: Maybe it comes with maturity
• 17:40
Speaker 3: and age. With age. I was trying
• 17:41
Speaker 2: to be nice and say maturity, but
• 17:43
Speaker 3: age is Thank you.
• 17:44
Speaker 2: Is what I meant.
• 17:47
Speaker 3: Oh, and then one very funny thing happened, Kim, that I have to tell you. I you bought me for my birthday the most beautiful little crystal bowl with with, little flowers. It's so delicate and so fragile. So and it's beautiful. I put it next to my bed.
• 18:02
I haven't decided what to fill it with yet.
• 18:04
Speaker 2: I don't even know if need to fill it.
• 18:06
Speaker 3: No. But it the but the little flowers would stick out more if I put something green in it. I was thinking of green jelly beans or something, but then I'm gonna eat them, so I'm not sure I want
• 18:15
Speaker 2: like the open candy.
• 18:16
Speaker 3: Yeah. That could be true. So I might not put anything in it. Anyway, this young girl came to the event yesterday, and she had come from Dior and said she wants the same thing.
• 18:27
Speaker 2: She's holding the shopping bag.
• 18:28
Speaker 3: Shoulding the shopping bag, saying what she was giving to her mom for Mother's Day. Yeah. So I think we're definitely going in there because they owe us big time. But that was so funny. She's wanted to only talk about that, that she got the same thing.
• 18:41
Know. I don't tell everybody. Not everybody on the block needs that bowl, but
• 18:46
Speaker 2: it wasn't really sell out of stuff really quickly.
• 18:47
Speaker 3: Oh, I'm sure. They don't have millions of them anyway, and it was beautiful.
• 18:50
  Speaker 2: It's almost like we're influencers.
• 18:52
Speaker 3: In the in the bowl situation. In in every situation.
• 18:57
Speaker 2: So talking more about Mother's Day, our plan this year is just to get dinner on Sunday Yep. With the Yep. Yep. We're doing
• 19:05
Speaker 3: some always do. Yeah. We always have a casual dinner. You know, some neighborhood Italian restaurant which everybody sort of loves. Yeah.
• 19:13
We like to use but it's usually yeah. Because everybody comes up because they're being nice to me.
• 19:20
Speaker 2: But I'm what wait. What do you mean?
• 19:21
Speaker 3: Because they don't have to go so I don't have to go downtown. Oh, yeah.
• 19:24
Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh, yeah. I guess but everyone's uptown except for me. And and my brother.
• 19:28
  Speaker 3: And your brother.
• 19:30
Speaker 2: Do we we never really do brunch, do we?
• 19:32
Speaker 3: Sometimes I do it with my son and his mother-in-law, but she's in Vienna, so she's not here. So good for her is right.
• 19:41
Speaker 2: Nice. When you were growing up, what did your mother's days look like?
• 19:45
Speaker 3: We always had barbecues because we lived in the suburbs.
• 19:48
  Speaker 2: Right.
• 19:48
Speaker 3: Okay. But we would have I mean, you know, families were not as nuclear in the fifties, And my cousins and my both sets of grandparents and all the aunts and uncles, we'd all barbecue. And we take a, we would one time do it at my aunt's and one time do it at our house, and we would have hamburgers and hot dogs.
• 20:08
  Speaker 2: That's nice.
• 20:08
Speaker 3: And, you know, a typical actually, a typical July 4 birthday on every holiday. Hot dogs and hamburgers, ketchup, potato chips, Yeah. It was
• 20:17
Speaker 2: What about when mom was young and you were like
• 20:22
Speaker 3: a young mom? Well I was already living in the city so I think we ended up going to a restaurant. And don't forget my parents were still alive so we all did. We did it on family. We always were a large group.
• 20:32
Yeah. You know going someplace. So we'd have to go someplace that could at least be 12 people. Right. For dinner and we didn't want to break the bank.
• 20:40
Nobody was looking to you know so we'd go to someplace casual. What
• 20:44
Speaker 2: was your first Mother's Day as a mom like? Do you remember?
• 20:48
Speaker 3: I think I was frazzled. Think I was frazzled. First of I was 23 years old. Wild. And your mother was not that easy.
• 20:59
She was beautiful, but she wasn't that easy. That's me now. Well, you know what? Whatever it is, what comes around goes around. But I we never left any of the children.
• 21:11
We took all the kids with us for dinner. And we just had fun. You know, it was I I don't remember what the first one was. I lived on 72nd Street. I might have even had it in my apartment.
• 21:23
Mhmm. And everybody came over and we had sandwiches. I I don't even remember. Or we might have had pizza.
• 21:28
Speaker 2: Yeah. I feel like all of my memories from really all of my childhood was being raised by multiple generations. Like, I
• 21:38
  Speaker 3: feel like
• 21:38
Speaker 2: it's a group effort. Yeah. Everything we do in my family, like, raise especially We raising were lucky. Yeah. Were there things that like, decisions that my mom and dad made that they had to get, like, talk to you about first or get your opinions on?
• 21:52
Speaker 3: I don't think so. Not about you know we might give our gave our opinions on maybe what school the kids should apply to. You know if they asked we didn't we didn't say you know which one we adamantly wanted. I feel like you would have
• 22:08
  Speaker 2: in
• 22:08
Speaker 3: No some of your because I really didn't grow up in the city so I didn't have a have an idea about that but my children did and I you know they both went to the same Upper East Side school.
• 22:17
Speaker 2: Right. But the time I was, like, applying for school and stuff, you knew more.
• 22:20
Speaker 3: Yes. I did know more. I think we gave our opinions, but we left that up to the parents really basically because, you know, you have to know what's going on at that particular moment in time. Nothing stays frozen. And what was good twenty years ago might not be the right decision now.
• 22:35
  Speaker 2: Fair.
• 22:36
Speaker 3: And I think that's that's an ongoing thing.
• 22:38
Speaker 2: What about if, like, I did something that I was gonna get punished for? Like, would you have I
• 22:45
Speaker 3: would hang up the phone. I don't want I was never we grandparents are not supposed to be involved in punishing. Yeah. That's the one good thing about grandparents. We never saw anything wrong with our grandchildren.
• 22:55
Even if we knew what was wrong, you know, we closed the door. We hung up the phone, we said it's up to you now, you're the parents. Yes. And I think that's the way it does work unless you live with your grandparents. Know, if in that and which many many people do now, then it's the grandparents who make the decision or in concert with the parent.
• 23:13
But if you're in another house or another apartment, close the door and let the parents figure it out.
• 23:19
Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't even remember getting well, I remember getting in trouble a lot, but I don't remember punishments that, like, lasted a long time. Like Oh. I re like, I know when I was talking to a lot of my friends, if I did something bad, who even knows what it was, I it was, no TV for the rest of the night, something like that. And then my other friends would be grounded for a month.
• 23:40
Speaker 3: They can't go something worse. Yeah.
• 23:42
Speaker 2: True. You really were a good kid. I'm kidding. Mom was strict with me for sure. Like I had strict curfews.
• 23:49
Just everything was definitely helicopter. Well don't
• 23:52
Speaker 3: forget it was the first child. Yeah. Your first child you always do that with. I did the same thing. By the time the second one or the third one comes around, let them figure Way it more Lucy.
• 24:01
Let them let them figure it out themselves.
• 24:03
Speaker 2: Yeah. Also the difference between your first child and my mom's first child me being girls. Right. And then the second children being boys.
• 24:11
Speaker 3: Boys. They we were much more lax with the boys
• 24:13
Speaker 2: than really fair because I feel like they do worse stuff.
• 24:16
Speaker 3: They probably do, but we figured boys will be boys.
• 24:19
  Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't love
• 24:20
Speaker 3: that still saying. It's still the saying of the day. I don't think you can look at the way you wouldn't discipline a girl the same way you would discipline a boy.
• 24:29
  Speaker 2: I hate discipline. Better. Like, that's I don't
• 24:31
Speaker 3: if you're if you're better. But, you know, there was an interesting thing on the program. I was listening to the other night on a Chinese an Asian gentleman from China was speaking about, you know, they used to have they used to throw the the women into the the river. They only wanted they were only allowed one child That was years and so years ago. Well, that was a polyp because it was over overpopulation, whatever the policy Terrible.
• 24:55
I know, but that was what they were doing. That wasn't the gist of the conversation. Was now saying somebody was interviewing him and he's he was worked in a hospital and he was saying, you know, we have an interesting thing now. We used to only want sons. Now every family wants at least one daughter because we find when the parent gets ill, the one who cares for the the parent is the girl child.
• 25:21
Not surprising. Really very, very true. There's always one child in every family that ends up taking over care of an elderly person. But in most cases, it is the woman. Yeah.
• 25:31
I mean, I'm sure there are exceptions, but in most cases
• 25:34
Speaker 2: pathetic and more capable.
• 25:36
Speaker 3: I don't know what the answer is. It must be something that women are just more sympathetic.
• 25:42
Speaker 2: Yeah for sure. Was there anything that your mom said to you or advice that would be like taboo now? Or even advice you gave mom?
• 25:54
Speaker 3: I don't think so. I think what my mother told me well of course my mother said you're 21 get married that's another story. I don't think anybody does that anymore but I don't think any advice was ever wrong. I mean, you know, she she came from a certain time period, and when you live, you know, that's the advice you give because it's surrounded by the media and the culture of that moment. What you did in the fifties, you're not doing in 2025.
• 26:22
Right. So I think it's it's each generation has a different set of values. A good is still good and bad is still bad, but there are certain things that that do change. I mean, certainly the way the dynamic between husbands and wives, fathers fathers never would change a diaper. I mean, I I think your your grandfather changed one diaper on each child.
• 26:44
I mean, he would never be
• 26:45
Speaker 2: I don't my dad ever did.
• 26:47
Speaker 3: I think he might have changed one.
• 26:48
  Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know. Maybe not. Maybe not. I don't think so.
• 26:51
Speaker 3: Well, all I have to tell you, I came home one afternoon. It was Poppy's only time he had to do it for mommy, and all the and in those days, we didn't have paper diapers. Don't we didn't have Pampers or whatever. We it was cloth diapers that you'd send to the laundry. Oh.
• 27:06
And you had a week supply. They would come they'd pick up on a Monday, you know, and deliver and then pick up the Wild. The well, that's what it was. Or you'd wash them yourself in the in in a machine or by hand.
• 27:18
Speaker 2: How do you get rid of the
• 27:19
Speaker 3: You used to dump it. Well, I
• 27:21
Speaker 2: don't think we have to talk about that.
• 27:23
Speaker 3: Wasn't gross? It's part of life. Most people do that. So, anyway, I came home. The entire week of diapers was used in that one day,
• 27:32
  Speaker 2: and it was
• 27:32
  Speaker 3: a Saturday.
• 27:33
Speaker 2: I had a break down. Changing it?
• 27:35
Speaker 3: He couldn't figure it out. He was messing them all. It was all terrible. Funny. So that he you know what?
• 27:40
He got out of ever having to change again. Fair. Yeah. Very smart. That's why he went to Harvard.
• 27:45
Exactly. Do you think mom did anything better with me than you did with her? I think we probably both made the same mistakes or different mistakes, but we all make mistakes. Yeah. We do the you know, I think when people look at their parents, they have to realize they're we're human.
• 28:05
We all we do the best we can. Sometimes you lose your temper. Sometimes things are not so good in your in your home life or in your economy. I mean, the the you know, and there's added stress to family relationships. So you gotta give parents a little bit of slack.
• 28:22
You never know what they're going through. You know, when you're a child, you think everything that your parents do, everything is perfect, but it really isn't perfect, in anybody's life. It just doesn't happen that way.
• 28:33
Speaker 2: What do you think makes a good mom today versus back in the day?
• 28:38
Speaker 3: I think a good mom is still a good mom, somebody who listens. And I hope the moms today, because many of them work, some of them don't, but they take the time to understand where their child is coming from. I do have a feeling that we over pamper a lot of the kids today. I that they are they are made much more dependent on their families now than they were when I was growing up. At a certain point, our families would say, you're on your own.
• 29:09
You're 18. Right. Go out and figure it out. If it's wrong, it's wrong. Today, there's much more cuddling and much more conversation.
• 29:16
It's called gentle parenting. Oh, is that what it's called?
• 29:19
Speaker 2: And, like, I don't know. I'm not in the weeds of this, but a lot of the time, instead of, you know, just letting your kid cry in the other room, I don't know exactly how it works, but you would go down to their level and you would say, what is making you feel sad or whatever it is. We didn't have that.
• 29:33
Speaker 3: Yeah. What's making you feel sad is too bad and go and get over it. Yeah.
• 29:37
Speaker 2: I was just watching.
• 29:39
Speaker 3: And I'm not sure it's better now. I actually think that's a problem. I really do. I think it it makes weaker people. Don't know.
• 29:47
Speaker 2: I I think it I I don't think so. I think I would definitely go in the sexual parenting role.
• 29:51
Speaker 3: You are gonna be definitely a gerangel parent.
• 29:55
Speaker 2: I was just watching Meet the Parents.
• 29:57
Speaker 3: Oh, that was so funny.
• 29:58
Speaker 2: The De Niro character, like, had the nanny cam and was like we have to just let him cry. That's how he's gonna learn how to be self sufficient. Right. And then Barbara Streisand and Yeah. Oh my god, Justin Hoffman were sneaking in and giving him chocolates and stuff.
• 30:13
So there are different parenting styles.
• 30:16
Speaker 3: And nothing is wrong and nothing is right.
• 30:18
Speaker 2: Right. Like do you I guess does it as a mom, do you have to be super hands on to be like a good mom? Yeah. You think so?
• 30:26
Speaker 3: Well either that or have somebody good at home whether it be a grandmother or perhaps a caretaker or you know somebody or maybe the dad is home. Right. I mean you know somebody has to guide children through the terrible twos and they're all at each stage of your child's life has different issues whether, it's the twos or then they become tweens and then they become teens, then you gotta get through the marijuana stage. You gotta get through the Marijuana stage. Drinking stage where now it's all legal now, I guess.
• 30:58
Whatever stage it is, I think you have different times and somebody has to be there to have the conversation or be the disciplinarian. Yeah.
• 31:07
Speaker 2: But I also think mom guilt is a huge thing now that, you hear about how some people are raising their kids and you're like, should I be doing that? Is that or or mom guilt also can be like you feel bad that you're Missing working or missing certain things.
• 31:22
Speaker 3: Well that is a problem. I think that's a problem and the jury's still out on this. We don't have enough information. It'll take fifty years to see how this has affected the family. Mhmm.
• 31:33
Because you know there were much fewer divorces in you know in the in the back in the day. Now one in every two gets divorced. We now have single parents which we never really most people didn't have. I mean they were always there but it was you know we didn't have that much of it. Now it's very prevalent and not stigmatized at all.
• 31:54
And so you have all different types of social differences, and I think we don't know yet. Yeah. We don't know yet. It's very hard to say now when we're looking at it in this time, Frank. Right.
• 32:06
You'll know. I won't be here to find out the results, but you can write me a note and look up in the heavens and tell me. Exactly.
• 32:12
Speaker 2: No. You will, I think, see a lot of that. But I think I would say a 100% there's no reason that a woman having a career should negatively impact Well, it's just fun.
• 32:28
Speaker 3: You know what? You listen to, I was listening to Jenna Bush the other day, and she said she cried the first time she couldn't get to the baseball game that her child did. It is traumatic because those are things that the children will say years from now.
• 32:42
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 32:42
Speaker 3: You weren't at that game. Yeah. So at some point, you have to have a conversation with the children when they understand that one parent is gonna attend if you both work. You know, you can't leave it for or have the grandparents fill in. The president of The United States, the ex president, wasn't coming back from Texas to watch her grandchildren.
• 33:01
Right. So it's a little harder for people that are famous people. Yeah. But I think in a normal family, somebody has to show up to the soccer game. Mhmm.
• 33:10
Somebody has to look at the report card if it's not both parents and say that was a good job, that wasn't a good job, but it needs some parent in there to have the conversation. It doesn't matter which one.
• 33:21
Speaker 2: I also think today some women decide that they don't wanna have kids or some women wait till they're in their late thirties or even forties sometimes. Do you think that is empowering to have
• 33:32
Speaker 3: the optionality or do you worry that they'll miss out? I don't think they'll miss out. I think they just get older and have less patience. What you could do at 20 which most girls today don't don't have children that or a large family in their early twenties, but what what you feel like in your late twenties, you don't feel like in your late thirties. So it's very different just physiologically.
• 33:57
You know what? You figure it out. It doesn't matter. Women now can have children way into the 40s. It's not advised.
• 34:04
I don't think most doctors still think it's healthy, but certainly 30 year olds can have children and it'll be perfectly fine. I think it's just a matter of, ability to get down on the floor and play with for me already, so we're we're And then you'll have to sit you'll have to sit at a table.
• 34:21
Speaker 2: Yeah. Exactly. Get them a little stepladder. What do you think of momfluencers? Like if you're an influencer but you're you're a mom so you're showing your kids and stuff like that.
• 34:34
Do you think like what are your general thoughts?
• 34:36
Speaker 3: Well I think I think children do emulate their parents and certainly little girls do emulate their mother. I mean is that what you're saying? Is that what you're trying to say?
• 34:45
Speaker 2: Let's say like when in ten years from now I'm posting on social media all the time like
• 34:51
Speaker 3: Oh they might not like that you posted you mean.
• 34:53
Speaker 2: If I post them Right.
• 34:54
Speaker 3: Well, I don't like that. That. I know that. And I But
• 34:57
  Speaker 2: would I be a momfluencer?
• 34:59
Speaker 3: That's up to each individual. I don't think it's so right. I know a lot of people do it because they start showing the products with their children in
• 35:06
Speaker 2: it themselves. By that logic, you're making money for your family.
• 35:10
Speaker 3: Yeah. But then they are not they really go to school and kids either might make fun of them, might be envious. Who knows? I I'm not that I'm not sure of, Kim. I I think when they're very little, it's maybe cute, but I think when they start understanding five, six years old and they start going to nursery, you know, kindergarten.
• 35:29
Yeah. I would keep the children out of the limelight as much as you can.
• 35:33
Speaker 2: Yeah. Some celebrities, like, you'll hear the kids' voices and you're responding to them, and that's kind of maybe better than showing their faces. I don't know where I stand on it, but, like, Amy Schumer the other day, I guess it was her son's sixth birthday, and she posted pictures of him but always something covering his face.
• 35:49
Speaker 3: Yeah. Because you don't wanna have people. But then why post it at all? There's so many security issues today. I mean, you know, we didn't grow up in this kind of world that you're really scared for your child in many cases, especially if they're public figures.
• 36:02
And I I mean, very much like the card Kim Kardashian doesn't wanna have her child, you know, out there that much because
• 36:10
Speaker 2: I feel like she shows all her kids.
• 36:12
Speaker 3: No. She does, but she's getting showing them less, and they don't love it. I don't think they like it. I I think it's it could be scary. I wouldn't do it that much.
• 36:21
Speaker 2: Do you think being a cool mom is a compliment or a red flag? I don't think it matters. I think I
• 36:28
Speaker 3: think being cool and not observing what's going on in in your child's world and just saying oh that's cool it doesn't matter if he's I got a bad
• 36:37
Speaker 2: a cool mom is like other people saying oh Kim has a cool mom. She you know lets us stay up
• 36:44
Speaker 3: Yeah that's what I'm saying. Don't I think that can can back fire. I don't think a mother and father is supposed to be meant to be cool. They're not supposed to be friends and they're not supposed to be cool.
• 36:55
Speaker 2: Right. I agree with that. I always think of the mean girls mom. That's all right.
• 36:59
Speaker 3: That one's probably going to be a very successful person.
• 37:03
  Speaker 2: Wait it's a movie. It's scripted movie.
• 37:05
Speaker 3: Oh, it is? Oh, I don't know.
• 37:06
Speaker 2: Mean Girls? You've seen Mean Girls with Lindsay Lohan.
• 37:08
Speaker 3: No. I didn't see it. But I know what what you're talking about, but I never
• 37:12
Speaker 2: saw iconic movie. You should see it. It's, 20 old at this point. But the Amy Poehler character, she would walk in and like the daughter was like hooking up with a guy and she'd be like, Do you guys need anything? And you know, that's the ultimate
• 37:23
  Speaker 3: goal to mom.
• 37:26
Speaker 2: Let's get into the drama club. Some trending topics, gossip, drama that happened this week on social media.
• 37:35
Speaker 4: From athletic stuff like a full court pickup game, swish to athletic ish stuff like a half mile stroll. Get those steps in. Head to Sierra or sierra.com for the brands you want at the prices that let you do it all. From athletic to athletic, Sierra's got it.
• 37:51
Speaker 5: This episode is brought to you by Prime. Obsession is in session, and this summer, Prime Originals have everything you want. Steamy romances, irresistible love stories, and the book to screen favorites you've already read twice. Off Campus, Elle, Every Year After, The Love
• 38:25
Speaker 2: We talked a lot about the Met Gala. Final thoughts on that.
• 38:29
Speaker 3: You know my thought on it that I thought it was not so terrific but I did love Diana Ross. Yes. I thought she stole the show. She was the show. Without her there was no show.
• 38:38
Speaker 2: Names on her dress. I loved it.
• 38:40
Speaker 3: And just the fact that she's still the number one star in the world. I thought it was too slow. I thought some of the clothes that the men wore especially the beaded jackets and the you know those were cool. Those were what it was meant to be a dandy theme.
• 38:54
  Speaker 2: For sure.
• 38:55
Speaker 3: I thought a lot of the and and I loved Stevie Wonder. The fact that I saw him that night and he looked so great. I love that. Mhmm. Most of it I thought was just went too slowly.
• 39:06
It was just and the most exciting part was the jewelry that the men and the women wore. I didn't like the clothes as much as I like the jewels.
• 39:14
Speaker 2: I wish that every minute you were seeing a new celebrity walk in because no one is slow. But I guess people are just seeing the screenshots of the outfits on social media later. So
• 39:23
Speaker 3: Well, we we did a, a podcast. We we we taped our show that we did live. We did
• 39:29
Speaker 2: live. Streamed on Instagram, I think
• 39:31
Speaker 3: is last time I'm ever doing that was two hours of looking at a costume go up the steps so slowly, and everybody chimed in, which was fun. So we had more fun talking to our audience, but, it was too slow this year.
• 39:43
Speaker 2: I did wanna see Rihanna. We didn't even really make it until It
• 39:47
Speaker 3: was five or ten she went on. The thing started at six came on the red carpet.
• 39:52
  Speaker 2: I know.
• 39:52
Speaker 3: Four hours of waiting for one person that was ridiculous. Well, we saw her the next day.
• 39:57
Speaker 2: Of course. And she had her baby bump. She looked really good. She looked beautiful. A$AP Rocky, the guy who had, like, the cane
• 40:04
  Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
• 40:04
Speaker 2: With the that's her baby daddy. Do you
• 40:06
Speaker 3: know that? Okay. No. I didn't know that. They didn't tell me How
• 40:09
Speaker 2: feel do about the fact they've had three kids and are not married?
• 40:12
Speaker 3: Well, you know, I don't approve of this. Yeah. But so many of the celebrities tend to live this lifestyle. It's fine for them. I don't think it's fine for the children.
• 40:22
I don't care how progressive you are. But, you know, everybody has a right to choose the way they wanna live. Grandma Gail doesn't approve of that.
• 40:28
Speaker 2: Mhmm. Okay. Let's move on to the grandma report. We're gonna talk about two articles. One is a study.
• 40:38
Do you call your mom enough? Perfect for Mother's Day. Data shows you probably don't. A significant portion of Americans acknowledge they don't communicate with their moms as often as they should. The average contact was about once a week.
• 40:50
Oh, boy. And also a lot of the the study was saying that moms feel underappreciated. 30% of moms say their families don't express enough gratitude. And thirty nine percent report getting less than an hour of personal time per day. So Oh, per day.
• 41:08
  That's a long can't have an hour per day. That's a
• 41:11
Speaker 3: long time to be Well, with a if you're working or have another family, I mean, an hour is a long time. That would be an hour conversation on the phone. Mean, we do it.
• 41:20
Speaker 2: Up in between, like, a cumulative hour.
• 41:22
Speaker 3: No. I I think an hour a day is too long. I do think a phone call every day or every other day would be
• 41:28
Speaker 2: very appropriate. Personal time. Like, mothers only get an hour to themselves.
• 41:31
Speaker 3: Oh. Oh. I'm sorry. Yeah. Thought okay.
• 41:34
Speaker 2: No. So mom's only like They don't have enough time.
• 41:36
Speaker 3: They don't have enough time. Me time. Me time. Me time.
• 41:39
Speaker 2: Okay. So I don't know. I feel like Mother's Day can feel a little performative. But It can
• 41:47
Speaker 3: be sad when mom isn't here anymore. Totally. You know, that's another story, but that so, you know, do it with an aunt. Do it with a friend. Do it with somebody you love.
• 41:55
Be appreciative. You know, give them a card and say I love you. Yeah. I think, you know, so often everybody's busy in their own life Yeah. That they forget to do the little something that might make no difference in their life but makes a big difference to their the loved
• 42:10
Speaker 2: I get it. Sometimes I'm like, I have a million emails I haven't read. I feel nonstop like it doesn't feel like a conversation about la dee da, whatever, like, can happen in this moment. But also, we spend hours of our time scrolling a day. Like, that can it's not gonna kill the vibe to get on the phone for five Exactly.
• 42:30
Minutes with your mom, grandma, whoever it is. So that's all
• 42:34
Speaker 3: for the mom and the grandma feel very special.
• 42:37
Speaker 2: Yeah. Okay. The other article a lot of people are talking about this online. It's an article. It must be nice to be a West Village girl was the title.
• 42:46
Speaker 3: I read that, Kimmy. I told you that a couple of weeks ago.
• 42:48
Speaker 2: I think this is a different one, but basically they were saying we we were talking a little bit about, like, the matching uniforms just that everyone's in. So it's the vintage coat, the ballet flats, the style to look effortless, but very curated kind of look. But there is like a the article was talking about there's an identity to the West Village that has completely changed. Like, I'm sure even when you would go down to the West Village, it felt very artsy and bohemian, like back in the day.
• 43:16
  Speaker 3: Now it's not.
• 43:17
Speaker 2: No. Now it's like very capitalist.
• 43:20
Speaker 3: Right. Well that's where all the money is downtown. The poor old people are all uptown in their old apartments. Right. And I Wishing that they were downtown.
• 43:28
Speaker 2: A lot of the girls in the West Village and I'm I'm probably part of this but they treat the city like the stage for their Instagram posts. So it's like the coffee shop, the, like, walking down Bleecker Street, the old townhouses. It's just about, like, taking on that aesthetic and, like, romanticizing New York, but I don't know if it's really true to who they are.
• 43:52
Speaker 3: Well, I don't know who it's who they wanna be, so then that's fine. Yeah. What the article that I read was that everybody walks around in the same uniform. The, the the, loose jeans, the leather jacket, the T shirt, no matter what time of the day it is, it's a uniform. And so much of that has been perpetrated by the designers now.
• 44:11
You can't only blame it on the young people. The young people, especially New York young people, see on in the stores and see what's propelled. It's very casual wear. Mhmm. And they've taken it to a style.
• 44:23
I think they look cute to be very cute.
• 44:25
Speaker 2: The West Village is like the new Murray Hill with, like, a uniform identity and, like, kinda basic Oh,
• 44:33
  Speaker 3: I don't know. Think
• 44:34
  Speaker 2: girls and
• 44:35
  Speaker 3: Oh, maybe.
• 44:36
  Speaker 2: I think
• 44:37
Speaker 3: I think I I think, you know, each neighborhood charming
• 44:40
Speaker 2: to live then? Like, what is cool if it's not Paris. Fair.
• 44:44
Speaker 3: I mean, New York is New York. Every little street has a character, and you have to appreciate. New York is such a big city. Right now, we're down at the World Trade Center. It's fabulous down here.
• 44:55
You wouldn't believe this is a world that would be the same as the world I live up on 80th Street. It's you know? So ever and each neighborhood is beautiful. They all have their own restaurants, their own little areas that you would like to have lunch in or dinner in, and that's what's wonderful about New York. That's why I always say somebody should come to New York for at least a year or two when they get out of college just to experience this kind of city.
• 45:18
Whether it's this city or any big city. It could be Chicago. It could be I won't say San Francisco anymore, because I don't think I'd wanna go there anymore. In LA, DC. I don't think I wanna go to LA either.
• 45:31
Some fires are there. I can't go there either.
• 45:33
Speaker 2: Okay. Let's just stay.
• 45:34
Speaker 3: And I don't wanna go to DC because the airport isn't so good. Okay. So let's just stay in New York. Stay in New York.
• 45:40
Speaker 2: Okay. Let's go to the rewind. Grandma, what are you watching on TV lately?
• 45:49
Speaker 3: Well I'm watching a series now. I watched you know I watched I finished all my Netflix.
• 45:55
Speaker 2: Which did you finish?
• 45:55
Speaker 3: To have a new couple of new Netflix programs. It's getting I love Netflix. Yeah. I really do, but I've gone through all of them because our life is so I swear to you. Our life is so that we're home.
• 46:06
We go for dinner at 06:30 now, and we're home at 08:30.
• 46:09
Speaker 2: Okay. Did you watch the new season of You? That's a big Netflix title right now.
• 46:14
  Speaker 3: I don't think so as a matter
• 46:15
Speaker 2: of on Hulu. I have to double check that. Last of Us has a new season. Black Mirror has a
• 46:20
Speaker 3: new have start oh, I have to. Oh, I
• 46:22
Speaker 2: I don't watch those shows, but I know people are talking about them. Did you finish your friends and neighbors on Apple? No.
• 46:28
Speaker 3: I can't do that because I don't have Apple in the city.
• 46:30
Speaker 2: Oh, I'll set it up for you.
• 46:31
  Speaker 3: No. I don't you can't.
• 46:33
  Speaker 2: No. You can.
• 46:34
Speaker 3: I have a very old TV. You can't do it in the city. But let's not tell you. I'll save it for the hampers.
• 46:38
Speaker 2: Easily get you an Apple TV. So I'm not buying an Apple TV. Why? Get it for you. Don't worry about it.
• 46:43
Speaker 3: We're not doing that. You need a new iPad also. Grandma's cutting back. It's not 1990 was a good vintage for the TV.
• 46:50
Speaker 2: Okay. Let's play a game. Should we bring it back Mother's Day?
• 46:56
Speaker 3: Not my TV. Not not your TV.
• 47:03
Speaker 2: Handwritten letters for Mother's Day.
• 47:06
Speaker 3: No. I don't think anybody's gonna write a letter. I don't even think kids are taught how to do script anymore, but I think a card with your signature and a little note is fun. I do think that's nice.
• 47:16
Speaker 2: Sit down family dinners? Absolutely. Agree. We're having one. What about family portraits?
• 47:21
  Like an actual
• 47:22
Speaker 3: Oh, I don't think Well, they do photograph. No. You know, I I think it doesn't have to necessarily be Mother's Day. It could be around a special occasion and everybody gets together.
• 47:31
  Speaker 2: That, though.
• 47:32
Speaker 3: No. Because we're all terrible photograph well,
• 47:34
Speaker 2: you're actually Christmas cards. We don't do No. We've never sat
• 47:37
  Speaker 3: down
• 47:37
  Speaker 2: We
• 47:37
Speaker 3: don't do one like a card.
• 47:38
  Speaker 2: Commissioned painting. No.
• 47:41
Speaker 3: You have painting. Have a painting. Well, my grandfather loved me beyond the thing. So he had to he had to have my portrait painted. It's now in my house in the Hamptons.
• 47:49
Yeah. So I moved it from house to house, from my mother's house to my house to a different basement. Now it's upstairs. Upstairs.
• 47:56
Speaker 2: Okay. Last one. What about plastic covered furniture in the home?
• 47:59
Speaker 3: No. That was by Graham. That was the worst thing in
• 48:02
Speaker 2: the Why was that a thing?
• 48:03
Speaker 3: Did you ever watch Raymond? You know?
• 48:06
  Speaker 2: Love Phil Rosenthal.
• 48:08
Speaker 3: No. But everybody loves Raymond.
• 48:10
  Speaker 2: He wrote that.
• 48:10
Speaker 3: Okay. He wrote that with Raymond, with, what's his name? The star. I can't
• 48:15
  Speaker 2: think. Ray.
• 48:15
Speaker 3: Ray Romano. Romano. The the grandma the mother has the sofa with the plastic. My grandmother had it too. And we would go up, and we would sit down.
• 48:25
First of all, your legs stick to the sofa. Everything and it went on for years and years. She had this beautiful white sofa. I don't even know if I think it was all white. It might had flowers or some kind of brocade.
• 48:36
We took my grandfather died. They would sleep on that sofa with the plastic if he wanted to take a nap.
• 48:43
Speaker 2: Just live your life comfortably.
• 48:44
Speaker 3: He wouldn't because they couldn't do it because they couldn't destroy. This was gonna mess up their
• 48:50
Speaker 2: But then you never see the
• 48:51
Speaker 3: actual He never saw it. He never saw the poor man died.
• 48:54
  Speaker 2: He
• 48:54
