- 0:01Hey, hello and welcome to another episode of the Christian
- 0:05Reef podcast. Today's guest goes by the name,
- 0:09spacious. And that's right.
- 0:12Spacious spacious spacious, he is a Russian YouTuber who
- 0:19creates content for horror games Funny Moments, compilations,
- 0:24reactions Vlogs. And he also creates his own
- 0:27music as well. So there's a lot to delve into.
- 0:30But yeah, he's my first ever Russian guest.
- 0:33Which for me is pretty awesome. So but if you had got the lat Oh
- 0:40hey, it's okay. Is going right?
- 0:43How are you? Very good.
- 0:45Very good man. It's pleasure to have you on the
- 0:47show and that there was different ways.
- 0:51I wanted to approach this because, you know, when I was
- 0:55looking through the research and I was looking at your channel,
- 0:57you know, one of the things that I noticed straight away was that
- 1:00your location is the United States and as I know, you're
- 1:04actually in Russia, but another one of my guests that had on the
- 1:08show. Was from South Africa and he did
- 1:11a similar thing in order to Target that American audience.
- 1:14So obviously there's a strategy behind it, but I found this
- 1:18interesting because, you know, Russia is a huge market and just
- 1:24you know, even if you would go down that route just of making a
- 1:28Russian only speaking channel that you you probably still do
- 1:31very well. Anyway, so those I guess there's
- 1:34kind of like for me. Immediate question marks with
- 1:37regards to that At but I guess what I wanted to talk about just
- 1:41right off the bat is like, why do you choose to post content in
- 1:45English and not Russian as well like save for a second Channel
- 1:51or something? Yeah so I have like a little
- 1:55little teaser here that I'm going to create a Russian
- 1:58Channel actually reflect with stealthy little bit about this.
- 2:02So it's like all my friends that saw me talking in English and
- 2:06doing the content in English. They said Take a breath in
- 2:10Russia. There are no such content and no
- 2:13such energy in Russian YouTube because it's really little of a
- 2:18horror game YouTubers and like, only, Let's Plays and blogs kind
- 2:22of stuff on Russian market. So it's kind of will be easy to
- 2:28go on Russian YouTube and just bang it, but at the same time,
- 2:32so kinky kinky and yeah. Yeah.
- 2:35At the same time, I started like my first ever YouTube channel.
- 2:38As a Russian, let's player and I played horror games and like
- 2:42funny games and funny moments. The same thing when I was like
- 2:4513, and it was like, 8 to 9 years ago, right?
- 2:49So, I started whole game like for nine years now and it was
- 2:54like, I was not that good to be on YouTube as I analyze post,
- 3:00analyzed it and in retrospective it was like, it was trash for
- 3:04me. So I dropped it for a couple
- 3:06years and then I thought that no English like Let's be honest.
- 3:12Like so much better than all the Russians.
- 3:15Like there are no Russians like around me, I'm like telling only
- 3:21the people I'm talking to that know, English that much that
- 3:24they can just speak with German guys in English speaker and the
- 3:28audience in English. So it's like I thought the Vlogs
- 3:33and the horror games with the my Russian reaction in English will
- 3:38be interested in finding to see because it's like Unique Style.
- 3:44I get I get what you mean. I do think it's quite surprising
- 3:47actually that you say that there isn't Russian YouTubers kind of
- 3:51doing this right now because like I know a fair bit about
- 3:54Russian culture, I've lived in Europe, I've had a lot of
- 3:58Russian friends. So I've seen a lot of like I
- 4:00guess Russian media and music and such and there's a lot of
- 4:04energy and that so really surprises me that there isn't
- 4:07like a bigger sort of seen in Russia, as far as YouTube is
- 4:13concerned. I mean, I often from like an
- 4:16objective kind of Outsiders looking in kind of perspective.
- 4:21I've always seen like a lot of similarities between like Russia
- 4:25and America. Like if you take say Russian rap
- 4:28as an example, you know, like even the way people look, the
- 4:32way they hold themselves is very similar to American style and
- 4:35the way people close themselves and it makes sense, you know,
- 4:38it's the proliferation of American Media around the world
- 4:42And it just kind of gets everywhere.
- 4:44But like with that being said, Russian culture is very strong
- 4:49in of itself. So, like I'm surprised there
- 4:52isn't more of a scene because one of the questions I had to
- 4:55you was actually about you know, so talking about the Russians
- 5:00YouTube scene and I guess who like the most successful Russian
- 5:04YouTubers, like who the big names in Russia at the moment I
- 5:08think you know, the music band Little Big It brings like I'll
- 5:16to Native Electronic Pop stuff. Okay, okay.
- 5:20So they're like banging like my friends from America from
- 5:24Europe. They stay like little big is bad
- 5:29hanging bro. It's interesting because all
- 5:35YouTubers like stand-up comedians, they doing sketches
- 5:38they burn some some content so they started like Small
- 5:42YouTubers, they grouped with each other and then just started
- 5:45making music making videos and they just like, they just like a
- 5:50big gang in YouTube seeing so emotion, right?
- 5:54So there's not really like Soul YouTubers in Russia.
- 5:57It's more. Like, as you say like groups or
- 6:02I don't know how to put it like yeah, groups opposes the best
- 6:05word and so it's like a franchise so to speak kind of
- 6:08thing. Yeah.
- 6:09It's like they're all made franchise but Same time, there
- 6:12are couple of like Minecraft, lets players like correlates
- 6:16players and Russian that makes the contents in Solo.
- 6:20But it's I think it's not like this wide, not this like a big
- 6:25appreciation from the media outside the internet because
- 6:29these guys who I was talking about there were like big on TV
- 6:34big on. Like they're going to e revision
- 6:36from our country. I think I know the people that
- 6:39you're on about because I remember because I basically,
- 6:41I'll Explain, I lived in Estonia for a few years and there's like
- 6:46a lot of Russian TV programming that showed there and I remember
- 6:50seeing I can't remember the name but it was like a comedy show
- 6:55live show as a group of comedians, I didn't understand a
- 7:01word but they had good energy. It look like it was funny, but
- 7:05it was always the same faces. It was like three to five guys
- 7:08and they would and women as well, I think as well.
- 7:11Yeah. And they would do like different
- 7:12characters, sketches and such. And from what I was told, that's
- 7:17like, very popular and I guess esteemed in Russia like it's
- 7:21considered in high regard, so that's cool.
- 7:25But yeah, I kind of, I mean, you haven't come out and said it,
- 7:28but like, I kind of agree with you that it doesn't kind of,
- 7:34it's not really, like having a proper YouTube channel.
- 7:37I didn't limit, like, when I see, I don't know, like, Jimmy
- 7:39Kimmel or some shit like that, like, If anything I think that's
- 7:43a bit exploitative. It's like look you already make
- 7:45money from its Eerie like stop coming here and stealing our
- 7:49stuff. Like, don't go to our place,
- 7:50Just Do Your Own Thing. Like internet is our place go
- 7:54out and the worst thing about YouTube as well is that like
- 7:57they push those those people as well.
- 7:59They don't push people like you and me who are actually trying
- 8:01to grow something from the ground up with no support.
- 8:04They just push the people that have all of the support.
- 8:07What's the, what does the point? But anyway, I digress.
- 8:12Before we get onto like, you know, your Inspirations in terms
- 8:16of like Western YouTubers. Is there anyone that you look up
- 8:20to in the Russians seem like anyone that I don't know.
- 8:24Maybe when you started out with YouTube, when you were doing
- 8:27your Russian only videos that you would like, yeah, this is
- 8:29the person I want to be like, or this.
- 8:31I like the way this person creates videos, Etc.
- 8:36Yeah, when I started YouTube, I was beforehand watching.
- 8:41The whole night through videos of useless mouth, the user guy.
- 8:46So he is like completely Russian.
- 8:48He makes concert in Russia but you feel the energy that he took
- 8:52from like PewDiePie because he he played like Happy Wheels
- 8:57before PewDiePie. He said it like whites and I
- 9:01mean black and white like he played before.
- 9:04PewDiePie the fat people's shit. And yeah he is he was a really
- 9:09big inspiration for me. So I thought if he can do it
- 9:14like from a small town around Moscow, why can't I do it?
- 9:19When I was I thought I was like just a little kid like thirteen
- 9:23year old but nobody like got seriously my content.
- 9:28It was like just another pose earliest, just another copy of
- 9:32useless mouth or something like that as my, some of my friends
- 9:35said, like you're copying Too Much from the useless mouth, I
- 9:39think it's. Yeah, going gone.
- 9:41And he got like gang like Khalil Gaelic with his friends, just
- 9:45small Russian like lets players who he played with and actually
- 9:50I met one in person and who we were like chatting and such but
- 9:55it's not like collaborations and stuff and they're like, quite a
- 9:59funny. Guys.
- 10:00They're just, they give you like this Vibe of what's.
- 10:05What's interesting to people to see on you?
- 10:08So that was a big, big impression. and, Yeah, I gotta
- 10:15go. I get what you're saying with
- 10:16that, like I agree with your point about.
- 10:19Like I think it's sensible, you took a break because I did the
- 10:22same thing. I actually started my YouTube at
- 10:24the end of 2013 and early 2014 and I still stand by the music
- 10:29like if you go on my channel and you go right back to the
- 10:31beginning, you can find the music that I created then and I
- 10:35stand by it. But you know I again I made
- 10:38cringe videos as well. I was just copying what everyone
- 10:41else was doing. I think I was a bit Too harsh on
- 10:44myself but you know low self-esteem blah blah blah blah
- 10:47blah. You know you grow up, you become
- 10:50older and wiser. But yeah, I do kind of think I
- 10:55got I wish I'd started it sooner but I do think that like you
- 10:59have to approach it when you have like a game plan when
- 11:02you've got like, okay, this is what I'm going to do and will
- 11:05grow from here. Because like, last year, I
- 11:07started doing acting for the first time early last year and
- 11:13You know, I posted a couple of videos on YouTube, like here's a
- 11:16short film, here's the thing I did and then it got a bit of use
- 11:19got some interest and I was like, hmm, what if I would try
- 11:22this and then it kind of evolved from there.
- 11:25And then eventually it's like, okay we're going to do this.
- 11:29Let's let's pursue this kind of thing, people like it.
- 11:32Yeah but it it takes time to kind of get to that point where
- 11:35like, okay I'm going to make a schedule.
- 11:38I'm going to make this kind of content.
- 11:40I'm going to avoid this I'm you know but like that initial
- 11:44Having that plan and having that confidence as well, like to
- 11:47actually pursue it because they're not a lot of people
- 11:50understand, especially people that don't do you too.
- 11:53But I don't understand what goes into it.
- 11:55And you know, I think for most for most of us like we are our
- 12:00own worst critic. You know, I can think of times
- 12:03when I've started doing like, a, let's play series, like I got 10
- 12:06episodes in and I just canceled it and delete it all.
- 12:09I like so much work went into that.
- 12:10I was like, no, it's trash. No one would watch it.
- 12:13And I think that's the key. It's like you got to always be
- 12:18trying to beat your own standards and such but but yeah.
- 12:24Anyway, moving on. Are there any?
- 12:29Of course there are but like who are your main Inspirations that
- 12:32Inspirations in terms of like Western YouTubers and such?
- 12:35Who are the big ones that you know you are aspiring to be like
- 12:40Yeah, the the first one actually that they started watching not
- 12:45Russian content was the PewDiePie president, of course.
- 12:50So the theme of one man, doing the whole job like playing games
- 12:56and gaining like money, popularity of this.
- 12:59That's what a catch me. It's like, bro, I can all the
- 13:05time. My parents were, like, why are
- 13:07you always playing games? You nothing will get The with
- 13:10this. And I'm just like bra, look at
- 13:12this man, he's lines, making money, immense making big money,
- 13:18and yeah. So it's like it was beauty pie
- 13:20was Markiplier and to be honest, I was quite mad because I
- 13:26started before Markiplier, my first channel.
- 13:29Hmm, and started to play horror games.
- 13:31It was like a little bit Downer that, like, grown man can do
- 13:35better than a little kid. But whatever, like I moved on
- 13:39from this and actually there was I think a little bit of
- 13:43Syndicate like Syndicate. Tom Cassell from England.
- 13:48Hmm. Yeah, he is like zombie videos
- 13:52and then wargs. Especially for the vlogging with
- 13:56his phone, just inspired me to take my phone with me and just
- 14:00do vlogs too, because it's interesting to see, like,
- 14:04Russian Russian life within. It's like, not going into Russia
- 14:10because everybody, especially my, I'm getting off the topic a
- 14:14little bit. Nobody sorry.
- 14:19One of my subscribers said that I generally thought that you
- 14:22have a bear pet. I'm like, yeah, like I'm Russian
- 14:27I can, I generally have to get like, a bear pet, and I told her
- 14:33that, I saw Pat, I saw a bare, like, twice in my life.
- 14:37It was in zoo. Yeah.
- 14:40And that's crazy. Because really some people think
- 14:43that we have, like, Bears on the street, we drink what I like
- 14:46with our family and d and we play balalaika just doing in to
- 14:51attain ourselves. Yeah, that's crazy.
- 14:54So, I thought that it would be, it will be interesting to to get
- 14:59my subscribers into Russian life.
- 15:02Like I'm just a, just a basic boy living in Russia, I'm not
- 15:06moving anywhere. I'm like not going to Bali look
- 15:09at my big blog so it's like a little bit of traveling through
- 15:13the Russians getting through all the way, extended stuff for me,
- 15:18but it's interesting to people looking and watching my videos
- 15:21because when I thought, when I When I showed how Russian trains
- 15:29work. Hmm.
- 15:31All the subscribers were like why is that like Russia Trace?
- 15:34Are you traveling with that? And I'm like yeah there's just a
- 15:38regular day. Yeah so yeah I thought I don't
- 15:42know about like other inspirational YouTubers like
- 15:45Western ones. Cuz I watch sometimes sidemen
- 15:52from England and Game Grumps. Yeah, Game Grumps Game, Grumps
- 15:57were like a little bit of my style and just watching it
- 16:03casually playing games and just commenting weird stuff.
- 16:07So yeah, I'm not like into big amount of YouTubers.
- 16:12Okay. But I went on watching this,
- 16:15it's like, it's my content for days.
- 16:17It's like, I'm not, I'm not clicking off and I'm not.
- 16:20I'm unsubscribing from these people, that's fair enough.
- 16:24What is your kind of overall opinion of just different
- 16:27YouTube scenes around the world? You know?
- 16:29Because I know for me, I'm a big fan of like UK scene, not
- 16:35really, because I'm from the UK just that I think.
- 16:37That we have better content creators in terms of just over
- 16:42all the sort of content that's being created versus when I look
- 16:45at people in like America there are a few people here and there
- 16:49they're interesting. But like there's a lot that I
- 16:53don't personally like and I am generalizing here but like for
- 16:58me it's always been like the best ones are in like the UK or
- 17:02would like dotted around Europe and such but I'm always looking
- 17:06for like stuff that's very The unique, you know, for instance,
- 17:10just before we started, I was checking out this video, by a
- 17:13guy called fingers, name is doing with us.
- 17:16David us. He's a guitarist and he just has
- 17:19like some very interesting ways that he recorded his video.
- 17:23Like I, you know, I probably am subscribe like a million
- 17:25different musician, you know. But like him in particular he
- 17:30has like you know interesting camera angles like he does a
- 17:33thing where if he's playing live he has like a I guess it's like
- 17:37GoPro attached to the top of the guitar and it's just a weird
- 17:41thing, I don't know it's different and like that's the
- 17:43kind of the big thing with YouTube isn't it is trying to be
- 17:45different and trying to do something that not everyone else
- 17:48is doing. So yeah like do you have any
- 17:51favorite like I suppose regions of the world or scenes so to
- 17:57speak. Yeah, I thought about like Astro
- 18:02Liam Australian boys. Oh, it's like Mike's mofo cold
- 18:06ones. I really love cold ones.
- 18:09That's why I really want to get into one of podcasts.
- 18:14Yeah, I'm really thankful that I'm here.
- 18:18Yeah. Oh yeah.
- 18:20I mean yeah. I thought about like yeah.
- 18:24Oh I was just you just going to say that like I think podcasting
- 18:28has just become like a Staple of YouTube in general now.
- 18:31But I will say this, though, Given that it's like very
- 18:36oversaturated. I think you do have to kind of
- 18:38come at it with something unique or something a little bit
- 18:41different, because one of the major concerns I had starting a
- 18:44podcast is like, well there's so many now like who the fuck is
- 18:48going to watch this, who cares? And that was one of the reasons
- 18:51I decided to do like interviews and like a mixture of interviews
- 18:54and then me going at length on topics as well.
- 18:59And it is very much a work in progress.
- 19:01I mean, it's early days still, but Is something to be
- 19:06considered. Because there are so many where
- 19:10it's just people sitting down and discussing a topic which is
- 19:14fine. I mean, I think it largely
- 19:16depends on the people that are there and I know these sound
- 19:21like all really obvious points to but to anyone who doesn't do
- 19:23this, like, I think when you start watching like, loads of
- 19:27these, you start noticing like, patterns or like, for me,
- 19:33sometimes I noticed A bit of laziness in certain podcast.
- 19:36I'm not going to name any names, but like there are some that I
- 19:40subscribe to because of the people involved, and then I
- 19:43watch it. And I'm like, actually, this is
- 19:45a bad podcast and it's disappointing, because it's like
- 19:49these people are like great content creators normally.
- 19:52But then when they do a podcast, it's bad.
- 19:55And that's the funny thing is, it's like a podcast is its own
- 19:57entity. The fact that all people on
- 19:59YouTube are doing it is just kind of, besides the point.
- 20:03I think, I think you have to Come in with a basic plan and
- 20:07like see how it evolves and you have to stick with it as well.
- 20:11Like, you can't just kind of give up straight away.
- 20:15You've got to try a lot of different things, but, you know,
- 20:19if it is something that you genuinely want to want to do,
- 20:23I'd recommend. Yeah, just having that initial
- 20:25kind of concrete plan of like, okay, I want to chase this thing
- 20:29and we'll see where it goes from there.
- 20:31Yeah. But you're growing deadly.
- 20:34I saw your first podcasts and like the recent one, like we
- 20:40video before me video podcast. That was, that was Grove, dude.
- 20:45So thank you, everyone. I really enjoyed like last
- 20:48video. I've been enjoying it.
- 20:50Yeah, it's looking about effort, talking about scenes.
- 20:55I thought about like English seen, like as you said like in
- 21:00England, but I still like stuck on.
- 21:04Sideman and Simon friends but I guess it's like it's not that
- 21:08much. And also I really love the
- 21:11videography scene like this McKinnon Casey neistat because I
- 21:17really love the juice in the video because in my spare time,
- 21:22I work as a videographer. So I like shoot this crazy
- 21:27videos for some events for weddings for like, Proms and
- 21:33cetera. So He taught Myself by this
- 21:37video, so I learned a lot from these boys.
- 21:41So it was like quite quite quite a lesson for me from just
- 21:46watching beautiful videos for these guys.
- 21:50And yeah, I don't know about the American because American scene
- 21:53is like, such a big wide difference, right?
- 21:56Even like with the regions and vloggers and lets players, but I
- 22:00think I'll stop on England and Australia, Australia.
- 22:04Yeah yeah. I mean again like I said it is
- 22:08difficult to generalize because there are many you know, like I
- 22:11like I said like I'm not fond of the American scene but I can
- 22:14think of plenty of American YouTubers that I adore and love
- 22:17and have subscribed to you for many years.
- 22:21I just think I guess more. I mean is is like what's popular
- 22:25generally speaking? Like okay for instance like to
- 22:28take someone like Logan pool, like I respect what he's done
- 22:32but I wouldn't personally like, watch that kind of content.
- 22:35And I realize it's not for my demographic.
- 22:37Obviously I get that. I'm just saying that.
- 22:39Like it's if you pin if you take him as an example, there's
- 22:45probably like ten thousand different YouTubers, doing the
- 22:47same thing as him. And I, that's what I mean, about
- 22:49the kind of over saturation stuff, like when I take my own
- 22:54channel, you know, I'm not doing anything particularly
- 22:58groundbreaking or anything, but like, I realized that it's very
- 23:02niche in some way. So growth take longer because
- 23:07people have to kind of Like me, like what I'm doing?
- 23:12You know, he's down, right? Yeah.
- 23:14I mean it would be very easy to just throw out videos to get
- 23:17views but then it wouldn't be like the type of content that I
- 23:21want to make. It wouldn't be real because
- 23:23cetera and I think that's something that people have to
- 23:27think about because it's all well and good trying to get the
- 23:30views in the beginning and throwing everything, you know,
- 23:33the expression throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks
- 23:36I get that but the same time there will be a point.
- 23:39It's like okay I got the audience now.
- 23:41I've got the views now. What and the tricky thing is, if
- 23:45you build up an audience slowly It's much better because they
- 23:49grow with you. They kind of indicate what they
- 23:52want, they're going to stick around.
- 23:53Whereas if you just get people randomly like okay, I did a
- 23:56couple of videos. They bang I get like 10K Subs,
- 24:0020K sobs, you've then got a like frantically, try and keep them.
- 24:05And it's like, they won't necessarily want to stay because
- 24:08you know, you'll be trying different things.
- 24:10You be like, okay I'll put a vlog out and then no one cares.
- 24:13And it's like, ah, Okay, I don't know.
- 24:17That's just my view on it. I think it depends on your
- 24:20strategy, I guess a lot of people don't care about that as
- 24:23well, but it's like, when I started YouTube, like when I was
- 24:30like a grown-ass adult, as we say like in 19 years I thought,
- 24:37like I can do challenges, I can do like Tick-Tock dances and
- 24:42like compilations of funny moments from different kind of
- 24:45Players and just stick it in my video.
- 24:48I get like a bright infringement, but at the same
- 24:50time, I don't enjoy that ad. I just, I will hate myself when
- 24:54I get it, like views when I get money when I get, like people
- 24:58who wants more of this content. But at the same time, I think
- 25:02that later in the evening, like after my nine-to-five job, I
- 25:08will go to work and try to do a video that I hate.
- 25:12If you do that, I don't really enjoy making.
- 25:15Like getting the material, edit it like post-production it.
- 25:18I hate it. Why why am I bothering?
- 25:21So I thought like I will do what I love to do.
- 25:24Like, I like to play games. I like to shoot videos and then
- 25:28sometime soon or later I will get the people who enjoy that
- 25:33too. So any time in my life when I do
- 25:37anything like that, like this kind of videos, they will stick
- 25:40around and I will enjoy this as much as I did like in when I was
- 25:4419. So I thought like it's a long
- 25:47way to go. And this won't happen like like
- 25:51this. There will no, no, like money or
- 25:56just big frame but it's like a steady long road that you take
- 26:01it now. Yeah.
- 26:03I think the same way that you do, you know, I thought about
- 26:06this in the beginning as well because there was that moment of
- 26:09like should I do what's popular or should I do what I like?
- 26:12And it's like I tried a few things here and there.
- 26:14There. But like I had the same problem
- 26:17that you had. Like, I do like I don't know,
- 26:20reaction video and it would take ages to edit and I'll be like
- 26:24and the video wouldn't do particularly well.
- 26:26I think that's all right but it's like yeah, I don't enjoy
- 26:30doing this. I want me doing this.
- 26:32Okay. So don't do it, then I'm like,
- 26:34oh but I want to, I want to grow our.
- 26:36Yeah. But like what's the point?
- 26:37If you don't enjoy it, Okay, all right.
- 26:40Fine and as you say it's a disease, a decision.
- 26:44It's like, okay, we're going to do this the long way.
- 26:46We're going to do it the hard way but in the end it will be
- 26:49worth it. Yeah.
- 26:51Yeah, this let's continue the theme of YouTube.
- 26:57Tell me why you decided to become a YouTuber.
- 27:00Like obviously, we know a little bit about what inspired you and
- 27:04we are obviously understand now that, you know, it's, it's part
- 27:07of what you do in your daily life and so, Such with
- 27:09videography. But what were the initial
- 27:11reasons why you decided to become a YouTuber?
- 27:16I think it's like I started with my love to making videos like
- 27:22any kind of videos when I was like one or two years old my dad
- 27:28always liked shoot like a little family videos with VSR.
- 27:32I was like a chess we see are like this kind that little
- 27:36camera that records on cassette so I watch like he he is doing
- 27:43videos of me. Me like me, I'm looking at
- 27:47myself like Year back. Five years back like now it's
- 27:51like 20 years back. Yeah and it was like so
- 27:54astonishingly exciting for me just you can just take your like
- 28:01little camera and shoot your your vision of the world like
- 28:05you see with your two eyes like only, you can see with them, but
- 28:09you can show people how you see all the pictures.
- 28:13And then I started like playing video games, who it happened to
- 28:17me early again because of my dad.
- 28:20He like bought me a computer when I was four I guess I
- 28:25started with all the gaming stuff so I thought, like I
- 28:28really liked videos, I really like video games.
- 28:31I will not stop like playing when I get like 16.
- 28:34I will just go and drink. I'll just go and party.
- 28:37No, I just I still enjoyed like sitting in my, in my bedroom
- 28:41playing horror games and playing Just Casual games and it's like
- 28:45no going anywhere. So I thought like I can do my
- 28:51biggest Hobbies like, I can connect them and maybe you took
- 28:55William a chance like to make this my job.
- 28:58It's like it's a dream of every fucking kid to play games and
- 29:03game money. Especially when like, open
- 29:07parents told you like, it's not getting you anywhere.
- 29:11Why you playing games? You like, spend your time?
- 29:13Life on this waste. So I thought, like I can't get
- 29:17it high in and ask a personal question.
- 29:19Like what's the age difference between you and your page?
- 29:23So you're like early 20s, right? Or early to mid-twenties
- 29:25something like that, right? Yeah.
- 29:27I'm 22, right? So your parents so in the 50s or
- 29:3140s. Yeah.
- 29:32Forties fifties, right? Yeah.
- 29:34So there's that this generational difference there as
- 29:36well. It's like when they were growing
- 29:38up. Yeah, totally different plus
- 29:40it's Russia as well. So like they might have If true
- 29:44Soviet Union as well possibly. Yeah.
- 29:47Right yeah. So there's all these different
- 29:49elements to it. So like they see you playing a
- 29:51game and I imagine there's probably a bit of like fuck you
- 29:53doing what you're not working. What do you mean you're playing
- 29:56games? What do you mean?
- 29:57You can make money with games. So you will fool.
- 29:59Like is there a now? It's like it's happening from
- 30:02time to time. I guess it will just take that
- 30:06day. When you come home and you just
- 30:08show your dad. Like, look at this fat stack of
- 30:10made from this and he'll be like Huh?
- 30:13Looking for this day like it's it will be my second birthday.
- 30:18Absolutely man. Absolutely well yeah yeah.
- 30:26So we've learned a little bit about why you started and it
- 30:29sounds logical to me. It was similar to me to you
- 30:33know, I think it largely does kind of start out with just
- 30:36playing around and seeing what you can do and and also just
- 30:40like seeing what other possibilities as well.
- 30:43Well, I got, I find that the more limited you are.
- 30:47In terms of the technology, you have, the more creative you have
- 30:50to be as well. Like, I can recall times, I've
- 30:53not had like a proper camera. So I've had to use like mobile
- 30:56phones and I've had till I beat, you know, like Frances I don't
- 30:59have like proper artificial lighting.
- 31:02So I had to like, be clever with like the use of like natural
- 31:06lighting and stuff. And yeah, I think it's good.
- 31:09It can only be a positive thing in terms of Developing your
- 31:15creativity and yeah and in terms of things like like having a
- 31:20career in filmmaking or videography it's like okay if we
- 31:23have a problem it's not the end of the world I can use different
- 31:26techniques and try different things.
- 31:30So what would you say is like your favorite type of content to
- 31:36create? Because as I sort of covered in
- 31:37the beginning, you do a lot of different types of stuff, you're
- 31:41always trying different things, And you create content very
- 31:45regularly. So what's your absolute
- 31:47favorite? That you just love to do.
- 31:50I really love to play like full big walkthroughs and it's like a
- 31:58relevant from irrelevant games but at the same time as you said
- 32:03like as you mentioned, I'm like shooting on my lap top all the
- 32:07every single game and I'm shooting like this video even
- 32:11with my little action camera and my light is like it's like table
- 32:17lamp. So it's always like I To be
- 32:20Savvy to play some games, that will be some kind of relevant.
- 32:26Like some kind of Markiplier will choose with his video or
- 32:29standing, but at the same time, I really love to play recent
- 32:33games are like big games. It's like, it can gain you
- 32:37views, like, in no time. And at the same time, you will
- 32:39enjoy playing, like, new game. It's like interesting for you,
- 32:43but I cannot really record that. So I choose horror games, like,
- 32:48I'm not really enjoying playing horror games like That's
- 32:50bullshit. What are you doing?
- 32:53Well, I know it's like not like I'm not enjoying this.
- 32:57I really love horror. I really love horror games, but
- 32:59sometimes it's like 50% of this games like when you get into it.
- 33:03Yeah. It's like it's a shitty game
- 33:06made by like 10 year old but you have to like, finish the game
- 33:10because you have like a schedule have like people who asked you
- 33:14to play this game. I see these indie games that
- 33:17people are sending in feet to you.
- 33:19And you're like, okay let's do it.
- 33:20And you get halfway any but all this is shit.
- 33:23Yeah it my my home like what they sent me why we're wasting
- 33:27my time? That's just so yeah.
- 33:31Like and my favorite content is log Vlogs because I mentioned I
- 33:35really love like pizza McKinnon and Casey neistat stuff.
- 33:38So I really love to make be rolls.
- 33:41Every love to make beautiful picture and like tell people
- 33:44about my day tell people about my unusual travels around the
- 33:48Russia. So So it's like to my favorite
- 33:52like type of content, I don't know.
- 33:54I will, I will try my best to create something more, something
- 33:58like try different stuff. Mmm, because now I'm like, it's
- 34:03like interesting period in my life that I'm moving from my
- 34:06parents to another city, she'll be leaving by my own.
- 34:09So wasted two wishes for. Is this for studies?
- 34:12Or is it just for work, or yeah, for my University and I'll just
- 34:16stay there. He's becoming bad.
- 34:20Yes, my became man, I'll say this much it wants you.
- 34:26There was as far as I'm concerned.
- 34:27Once you move out, you never want to go back.
- 34:31Yeah, sure to visit and such, but like, I moved out when I was
- 34:36let me see. I was 21.
- 34:37I'm 27 now, it's about six years on my own or living with like
- 34:43Partners or whatever. And I love my own space like
- 34:48just can't ever imagine. Imagine going back.
- 34:52Yeah, it's really fun. I mean, In fairness, when I
- 34:55left, when I was 31, I was ready.
- 34:56I was, I think I was ready for a good couple of years.
- 35:00Otherwise, I'm sorry right now and we talked like, with Stills
- 35:04about this, like when you have like a streamer house.
- 35:08Yeah. Streamer apartments or like
- 35:11concentrator like spaced where you live, where you create where
- 35:16you just can bash into one's room and do a content from this.
- 35:20Let's get a couple million views from just some of your friend
- 35:24just pooping and you can make very good Bank of you now go, I
- 35:30always watch it till the end. I could imagine.
- 35:32If you say, like, you lived with steel Z and you did a video like
- 35:36that, he's a very eccentric guy. So, I imagine living with him
- 35:40would just be just crazy, I just be something that.
- 35:44Yes, still, I love him. I love the man.
- 35:47What's me a little bit? Just on a side.
- 35:49Know how you No steals because for those who listen to the
- 35:53podcast, they'll know that we did a podcast with still Z and
- 35:58he's a twitch streamer is a very prominent stream and he also
- 36:01does a little bit of YouTube as well, but he's more focused on
- 36:03Twitch streaming. I know that you guys have done
- 36:07Twitch streaming together, but yeah, talk us through how, you
- 36:11know, him how you met him, what the connection is there?
- 36:15That's textually a really funny story, like when I started
- 36:21YouTube I didn't have like any friends to record with, because
- 36:25all the older videos in my Russian Channel.
- 36:28I will just playing with my friends.
- 36:29They didn't like, even notice that I'm making a video right
- 36:32now, we're just having a laugh, kind of like a little like swear
- 36:36her jokes and stuff. Okay.
- 36:39So I just added it in one compilation, so they didn't
- 36:43really know that I'm making videos.
- 36:44I'm just enjoying. Self and try my best to get my
- 36:47editing skills better. But now, when I started spatters
- 36:50Channel, it was like, really lonely because I only like,
- 36:56tried reactions and, or games like solo horror games, and was
- 37:02kind of sad, because I do care canadian-american, lets players
- 37:05who always play all every single game.
- 37:09They play with each other, mmm, ever heard of them.
- 37:13That was the name. Black Rhinos gaming H20
- 37:16Delirious if they don't have like banana crew.
- 37:19I think Banana Bus crew. Okay?
- 37:23And it's like Venice is like the biggest one.
- 37:26So yeah, I was watching their videos and they're like, all the
- 37:31videos they were making they were making together.
- 37:34It's like Gmod see is go GJ. It was really fun to me to look
- 37:39at this like that you have laughs you have like inside
- 37:42jokes. And the audience can take it.
- 37:46So I thought I need a partner. So one of the loneliest nights
- 37:50after recording my videos and editing it and posting it every
- 37:53single day I was playing golf with my friends by myself.
- 37:58I just bought a game and just I was going through servers to
- 38:02play with someone because it was like 3:00 a.m. and Russia.
- 38:05So I got like into weird server that was called like still see
- 38:09stream haha which that TV for Celeste stealthy.
- 38:13See, it's always like I'm gonna stream to slap this bitch.
- 38:16I'm gonna like just bash the door and get in the Stream and
- 38:22that's how we met. We started to talk who started
- 38:25to message each other on Twitter and we just started like why
- 38:28don't we have a collab? Like he was, he was streaming at
- 38:32the moment like before he's a little break and he was
- 38:37streaming. I was recording video and just
- 38:39I'm just mashing like highlights of the video on my channel.
- 38:43Of the stream. And that's how we just mad.
- 38:46And that's how we started to make hunting together.
- 38:48And we'd like enjoyed each other Vibes.
- 38:52Like, I'm with the German boys. They speak German.
- 38:55I'm just don't understand shit. It's like full gibberish for me.
- 39:02But still like I enjoyed it, his friends and him.
- 39:06It's like I really love the vibe.
- 39:09It's going on the sales extreme. Excellent, man, that's really
- 39:12cool. I mean, it's kind of the same
- 39:14for me to like, I've met a lot of people through doing this and
- 39:17people, I would consider friends as well.
- 39:19It's funny as well to even think about like the online friends.
- 39:23I mean, for me, you know, I've been yeah playing games online
- 39:27or my life so you know, it's not really Unheard of to have online
- 39:34friends, but was kind of different back in the day, back
- 39:36in the day, when it was just things, like Xbox 360 online,
- 39:40like you would have people, you regularly played with and
- 39:42chatted with. But I wouldn't necessarily like
- 39:45say they're always friends. It's just kind of like, people
- 39:48you play with. But as you kind of as the
- 39:51internet grew and things changed and things are where they're at
- 39:54now, is, I mean, it's if you play with people long enough,
- 40:00you get to know them, you collab a lot, I mean, Jesus, I've done
- 40:04literal podcasts with people having never met them, but we
- 40:08rate in regularly, did it on a regular basis and it's like,
- 40:11wow, this is kind of weird when you think about it because I
- 40:14just, I'm detached from it. I'm like, yeah, this is cool,
- 40:17this is cool. And then you just sit back in
- 40:18like this weird. This is very weird.
- 40:23Yeah, yeah. Like I was like in this to, with
- 40:27the steam friends like when you just add on Steam, like let's go
- 40:31play. Say around play match but we'd
- 40:34still be like, we're just like now planning on seeing each
- 40:38other going to each other's countries to excellent.
- 40:42Do a real-life collabs. So it's like it's a little bit
- 40:46different. It's really interesting for me
- 40:48because I never had like this kind of experience in my life.
- 40:51Yeah, I can't wait for that as well.
- 40:53When things sort of return to some resemblance of normality,
- 40:57it would be great to do. Real-life, co.labs, I got a lot
- 41:00of ideas people. I want to work with Obviously,
- 41:03I'd like to make this podcast, you know, actually have guests
- 41:07there in person, that would be great, you know, I don't mind
- 41:11doing it online, but it's just, I think it's, it's a different
- 41:15kind of experience when you are face-to-face with someone
- 41:20different vibe, different feeling, lots to be taken from
- 41:24it. It's just different.
- 41:25Yeah. So, just kind of, I suppose
- 41:28drawing it to a little bit of a close as far as like, you and
- 41:34YouTube is concerned because I'm going to get to social media in
- 41:37a second because of a couple of questions ever.
- 41:39The biggest question I want to ask you is like what are the
- 41:43biggest challenge? As you know I've got to I've got
- 41:45two questions here. What are your biggest challenges
- 41:49that you faced with YouTube so far?
- 41:51Because you've been doing it awhile now and obviously you
- 41:54know, as you said you were doing Russian any videos for a couple
- 41:57of years then you stop, then you took a break now, you've
- 42:00returned doing English, only videos and you've been doing it
- 42:04for some time. So talk us through what the
- 42:07major challenges have been and yeah, I guess what you've learnt
- 42:12throughout this process. The biggest challenge is for me
- 42:17it's like it's this dumb feeling of not gaining any where it's
- 42:24like every Creator. I think have this like a little
- 42:28crisis. It's now it's going on like now
- 42:32and then like when you feeling like what the fuck am I doing?
- 42:37Why am I doing the? Am I doing wrong why?
- 42:38It's nothing happening like boom?
- 42:40Why? Nothing is recognizing me?
- 42:42What's like why am I have you? A dropping by My Views are like
- 42:47Constance, why? It's like, why units not picking
- 42:50when I enjoyed making like this video, add video and it was like
- 42:55a big blast for me to record that to edit that to
- 42:58post-production it and nothing happened is like it.
- 43:01Got like a little less views than usual.
- 43:05And this kind that I took I'm taking a breaks when I have this
- 43:10kind of breakdowns. As I feel like when I'm I'm down
- 43:15like this with my creations and what my creativity going in the
- 43:21internet. I will just I will make it like
- 43:25every single day, the shittiest like meteor content.
- 43:30Like I don't want to do that, I don't want to like feed my
- 43:35subscribers who really enjoy that.
- 43:37It could be like two people or 10 people, but they enjoy me
- 43:41being active, being my cell being liked Doing what I'm
- 43:46doing. So I don't want them to see my
- 43:48sad face and talking about like I'm quitting YouTube tomorrow
- 43:52because I feel down because I feel depressed about my career.
- 43:56So I learned myself that I need to like, take a break, like, for
- 44:01the week for the month. I don't know.
- 44:04My longest break like this was for four months after four
- 44:08months, I felt so refreshed. I felt so refreshed and I
- 44:13thought, like, I'm never going to stop.
- 44:15Stop like this because I feel like I'm getting matured after
- 44:20this kind of breaks because I only had like two of them, like
- 44:24one big between like Russian and English Channel.
- 44:29And this kind of break this Autumn.
- 44:32I think less last autumn And that was like my biggest
- 44:37thinking process about, what am I doing?
- 44:40What am I going to do with you two?
- 44:42What I'm going to achieve with this who I want to be on YouTube
- 44:48on the internet. So I thought like this is the
- 44:51biggest like The biggest pet peeve.
- 44:56I might say they called me to do this like breaks at the same
- 45:02time. They, they teach you something
- 45:05and the other like other big problem that I like experienced.
- 45:12It was like, nobody gives a shit.
- 45:15What are you doing? Like?
- 45:18Yeah, that's when you are in Russia.
- 45:21It's like in not a big city. It's like no content creators.
- 45:26Like it's, you can count them on your fingers, on your hand.
- 45:32They're like nobody understands you.
- 45:33Nobody like really gives a shit about what you doing like, even
- 45:37with parents and closer friends. Most of it was the kind of
- 45:40General consensus in Russia as in terms of like thoughts and
- 45:47feelings on YouTube because I know in the UK it's beginning to
- 45:52be taken more seriously because of content creators like, you
- 45:56know, KSI who's kind of established a sort of a
- 46:00promising music, career and stuff, and it's like a lot of
- 46:02crossover. So now you're seeing him, people
- 46:04like him being interviewed regularly on TV and now they're
- 46:08kind of realizing that hey, you can make money from this.
- 46:10You can make a career out of this, is it, is it like being
- 46:15taken seriously in Russia as far as that's concerned?
- 46:18Or is it still kind of something that people like?
- 46:21About, it's secure in there. I should say, like, it's getting
- 46:26there, like, like, with the English media, but it's still
- 46:30like, not that much of a, do you like people from TV?
- 46:35And so on is going like the older population of the our
- 46:39country and every Everybody is watching TV around like in
- 46:43Russia. But yeah, I don't, I don't
- 46:45understand like why you watch TV, you can choose content, what
- 46:48your what you've been feeding yourself that Is weird.
- 46:52I gotta be honest. Like I think it might be because
- 46:55there's such a big population in Russia and you've got a lot of
- 46:58people in from older generations and such so maybe they're not so
- 47:01comfortable with on-demand services but it is weird because
- 47:05obviously you have those services available there so
- 47:07people can pick and choose what they want to watch when they
- 47:10want to watch it. And I'll be honest like I find
- 47:13it surprising when I learned that people still watch TV cuz I
- 47:17never watch TV. I always watch things on demand.
- 47:21And movies normally like TV series, really?
- 47:26I don't really watch like 10 still like Yeah, it's like with
- 47:34the, with my parents. For example.
- 47:37I taught them that you can like, what YouTube?
- 47:40What? She Instagram watch Tick-Tock?
- 47:42Yeah. With your own mobile phone that
- 47:44you have this year. Oh wow.
- 47:47This year it's like it was weird.
- 47:50They watching TV every single evening.
- 47:51I'm like not, I don't know what this thing except for my
- 47:55PlayStation 2. It's like why do you use this?
- 48:00And yeah, so it's like, as you said, it's with the population
- 48:04with the old non-tech people. I should say, like, people who
- 48:10don't understand much more than the TV.
- 48:13They just, like, I have a TV. I'll just in the shit that they
- 48:16feeding me. And that's why it's like, not
- 48:20recognized by the older people. Yeah.
- 48:24And at the same time, I didn't have like this.
- 48:29This much of appreciation for my friends, that who watched my
- 48:33content for like, once or twice? They were saying like you're
- 48:36copying this, you're copying Kim.
- 48:38You're cutting her and they like, you're not going to make
- 48:40it by. Like don't bother.
- 48:43Why are you taking this to you? Like little small town boy,
- 48:49trying to do shit like people doing for ages now and have that
- 48:53negativity and it was really quite depressing.
- 48:56Like yeah, I'm like I'm not talking People have to bed if
- 49:00you facility that to microreel leg.
- 49:03I don't I don't blame your hobby to collect something.
- 49:08Like I got us a big point for any kind of hobby.
- 49:13Mmm. Yeah, I don't sound this topic,
- 49:16actually, like, I've never had people really tell me like not
- 49:20to do things as such, but I have had this kind of, like lack of
- 49:26support from people around me over the years.
- 49:29E years because now I don't really ask anyone anything, I
- 49:36just do what I do because I love it and I believe in it, I'll
- 49:39keep pushing it because I find like often.
- 49:42When you ask the people around you they're not helpful really
- 49:45in any way you know they don't guess it up and kind of say like
- 49:49yeah this is awesome. Yeah you should be doing it
- 49:51because to be honest that's the type of people I want around me
- 49:55like that's why I think it's good to surround yourself with
- 49:58other content creators. They get it.
- 50:00And when you when you make something that you're really
- 50:02proud of, they know to like be like yeah.
- 50:05Well done not just because that they're your friends or you know
- 50:08they're trying to catch you up, make you feel better but like
- 50:10they get why it's a big deal because they do it themselves.
- 50:15Whereas I find that a lot of those people that aren't
- 50:17supportive or a - they either don't do something like that
- 50:20themselves, or they're just kind of like they don't realize the
- 50:25power of like how negativity can affect you how it can be.
- 50:29I hate you, you know, so it's it's like a constant battle.
- 50:32Like I know for myself, you know, like you said before like
- 50:36those days when you feel really bad, like I've had days where
- 50:39I'm like maybe I should quit this, you know what's the point?
- 50:42Like no one watches its trash. You know like what am I doing?
- 50:46Who am I kidding? And then you get over it and
- 50:50you're like, just keep doing it till the end of the day.
- 50:56But I think the point I'm trying to allude to is that you Really
- 50:59have to like believe in yourself, first and foremost and
- 51:02the people around you. I mean, ideally, they're
- 51:05supportive and positive but either or I think you just got
- 51:09to like ignore them and just do your own thing.
- 51:13Just now you have to be your own number one fan girl.
- 51:16After all that, that's a good point, actually, a lot of people
- 51:20that I've spoken to on the podcast and just in general.
- 51:23I've always said that that you need to be able to enjoy your
- 51:25own content. I watch it back and be like,
- 51:27yeah, this is good. I'm proud of this.
- 51:29Yes, I know this sounds weird but sometimes when I'm listening
- 51:32back to podcasts of myself like interviewing people and I'm just
- 51:38checking it to make sure it sounds good and there's no
- 51:41issues and such. But there's sometimes I just
- 51:44leave it on. I feel like this is all right,
- 51:47actually, this is quite interesting and I'm like, what
- 51:49you're doing? You had the conversation?
- 51:51You were there. You don't need to listen to.
- 51:54Yeah, to me it's a good thing. It's like, okay, if this is
- 51:57something that's listenable that I Listen to it and get over
- 52:00because I don't like watching myself.
- 52:02That's just me or listening to myself.
- 52:04It's like, I'm far as I'm concerned.
- 52:08I'll check it. And then I'll never think about
- 52:09it again. But I do want people to enjoy it
- 52:13because I enjoy it and I want it to get better and you know, it
- 52:19is there for entertainment purposes, first and foremost.
- 52:23So you want to be able to watch it back and enjoy it yourself.
- 52:28I think that's very important. Portent point and yeah, I
- 52:31couldn't agree. More of you on that one, as you
- 52:35said, like, if you I'm sorry to interrupt you like you, please,
- 52:39please, please. It tastes like a really
- 52:43interesting point. Like, when you listen to
- 52:47yourself and watch yourself, like, watch your videos and
- 52:51listened to your podcast, it's like, when I was while editing
- 52:55it and I'm hearing like my joke, I can best out like laughing
- 52:59because Real love this like kind of humor and yeah, I don't
- 53:03really remember that. I'm saying this but now I'm
- 53:06watching it like as a full full picture and I'm like, I'm
- 53:10laughing, I guess. It's reliving it, isn't it?
- 53:13Like it's a good video because I enjoy that.
- 53:16So I enjoy my humor. That somebody would enjoy that
- 53:19too. So that's a good joke.
- 53:21So I'm like big thumbs up on this video and just continue on
- 53:26like was watching my boring face in my boring voice that I hate
- 53:32to listen and re-watch to. But I have to like when I'm
- 53:35editing, when I'm like shaking, everything is okay.
- 53:37Like when I'm post-production it like I really don't really love
- 53:42my face. I don't really like my voice.
- 53:45Not like, saying like I'm right there with you.
- 53:49I think it's in a way it's positive to be your own worst
- 53:52critic. Like, you don't see it like
- 53:55other people, like I don't see that.
- 53:56I look at you and I'm like, this is a cool guy.
- 53:58It's got good, looks talented. Doing a lot of cool stuff like I
- 54:01don't see any of what you see but I understand why you feel
- 54:05that way because I feel the exact same way.
- 54:07Sometimes, I listen to something that I say or and I'm like
- 54:11that's cringe and other people like like it and they're like,
- 54:15that's great and I might know it's not shit but you know it's
- 54:22like people's different. Isn't it?
- 54:24I think it's good thing to, you know, be your own worst critic
- 54:27because it forces you to do better, the push yourself and
- 54:31yeah, doing that. I think inevitably you will get
- 54:34better and you have to you have to at some point.
- 54:40Absolutely. Well, I'm going to throw a
- 54:42really random question your way. This has nothing to do with
- 54:45anything. I just had to ask because a
- 54:48you're my first Russian guest. Be your Russian and See, the
- 54:56reason I'm asking this is because it's a very divisive
- 54:58question. As far as Russians are
- 55:00concerned, you get one answer or the other and it's normally a
- 55:03very strong answer. So my question to you is, what
- 55:08are your thoughts on the Russian President?
- 55:11Vladimir Putin? Go there?
- 55:16Yeah. So I was like till last year or
- 55:21like around that time. When I was like younger, when I
- 55:25was like little bit stupider, a little bit, like, not concerned,
- 55:29about my taxes and all. So I was like, I'm not political
- 55:39boy, I'm like, I'm not talking about this, I'm not thinking
- 55:42about this, I'm just getting like through, but the other day,
- 55:47I heard this really wise words of a stand-up comedian that he
- 55:53said. Quote, like if you say that your
- 55:55unpolitical and you live in Russia, it's the same thing.
- 55:58If you close your eyes and somebody fuck you in the ass and
- 56:00you like, I'm not saying this, I'm not looking, and when I'm
- 56:04getting like older, I'm trying to get this because that's a
- 56:08fair point. That's a great analogy,
- 56:11actually. I mean, okay, like what I will
- 56:13say on this topic is because like I said, I got a lot of
- 56:16Russian friends. They're very split on this issue
- 56:23and the Best thing that I can one thing I will quickly say is
- 56:26that Western media, always portrays Vladimir Putin as like
- 56:32either the savior of Russia or like this really evil guy that
- 56:37does evil things. And you know, I'm sure a lot of
- 56:40that is true. I'm sure you know there's a lot
- 56:42of shady shit but to be honest there's a lot of shady shit with
- 56:45every single government. It's not generally mean I think
- 56:47it's just that classic American thing of like or he's Russian
- 56:50sources. The bad guy what is Germans is
- 56:53you know Stop that bullshit. But on the factual side of
- 56:57things then someone said this to me a couple of years back.
- 57:01I think when I was living in Estonia it was a Russian person
- 57:04and they said this to me and this made the most logical sense
- 57:06to me. What.
- 57:07As far as that why there's a divide between like say Putin
- 57:10supporters and and people that don't support him and why it's
- 57:15so kind of like balanced as well because I mean fucking out Trump
- 57:18has supporters, right? So it's it's not unheard of
- 57:21that, like, Putin would have supporters but As I understand
- 57:26in the 90s when Russia was, like, totally unbelievably
- 57:30fucked, specifically places, like Moscow and stuff, like, it
- 57:34was a very dangerous place to live and to be.
- 57:36Yeah. And obviously, it was very
- 57:38highly controlled by the Russian mafia, you didn't have, like, a
- 57:42police force or a proper government or anything.
- 57:45So, it's like a free-for-all almost.
- 57:47And, again, I'm not saying, this is fact, this is just what I've
- 57:50been told is that when Putin came in Around that time because
- 57:55he's a different terms and stuff.
- 57:56When he first came in around that time, he essentially kind
- 57:59of eradicated that problem and kind of got Russia to a point
- 58:03where it was like a function, functioning continent / country
- 58:07again. So he basically took the country
- 58:10out of that and into like a new error.
- 58:14Now obviously over the years over the decades, all that shady
- 58:19stuff has happened and you know, there's been like good stuff,
- 58:23bad stuff and so on. And that of course creates the
- 58:26divides. And I think this is purely a
- 58:30generational thing. So the people that are voting
- 58:32for him, I would wager a largely, those older
- 58:35Generations. Who remember, like how fuck the
- 58:37country was, you know, after the Soviet Union and in this kind of
- 58:42intermediary period. They don't want to go back to
- 58:45that they're like, well this guy saved us.
- 58:47We want to keep voting for him because it's going to keep us
- 58:51safe and keep the country going because it's not just about
- 58:55safety. You know, it's other things like
- 58:56economy. I mean, you know, for many years
- 58:59the Soviet Union was a very powerful functioning power, you
- 59:03know, 50 60, 70 years, you know, is doing very well and then it
- 59:07was that kind of gorbachov error and stuff that it started going
- 59:10downhill in every single way. But principally like
- 59:16economically speaking it would had failed massively and that's
- 59:18kind of like what really sent it downward into a spiral.
- 59:26So like I think that's kind of more why there's that divide and
- 59:30like, when this person told me this, that that seemed very
- 59:32logical and it's kind of the same in a way with Trump, you
- 59:36know, with his whole thing of like, make America great again.
- 59:39He's, I mean, all the people that are voting for him for the
- 59:42most part, I like out at heart. Just like racists, like, all
- 59:46sorts of crazy shit, right? Yeah, but what he's appealing to
- 59:49is that idea of like, Hey, do you remember what the America
- 59:53was like in the 50s and 60s? Like we want to go back to that?
- 59:57We want that like make America great again, that's what he's
- 1:00:00appealing to and those people are believing in that message
- 1:00:03and voting for that message. And I think that's kind of what
- 1:00:07Putin supporters alike as well that they're voting for that
- 1:00:09message. Letting not necessarily him per,
- 1:00:13se it. It's yeah.
- 1:00:16And I wanted to tell about like Russian mentality, it's like
- 1:00:20plays a big role because Russians are, like, let's say
- 1:00:25like that. Now, Russia is instable a little
- 1:00:31bit of shit Place. Hmm.
- 1:00:33But people love this stable thing about the sheet place so
- 1:00:36they still live in the shit place.
- 1:00:38They still like pay taxes and get like shitty hospitals, but
- 1:00:43they stay. Like like to be stable because
- 1:00:47they are afraid of what comes after.
- 1:00:50They don't really love to try anything new, try anything
- 1:00:54different try anything like from Western countries.
- 1:00:59So all other people elderly people are really love.
- 1:01:02Wouldn't because it's stable, but at the same time but I think
- 1:01:08about like Putin politics, we're talking like Putin.
- 1:01:12But I think it's like talking about The government because
- 1:01:15it's a little bit good of here, little bit Dad.
- 1:01:19It's like his friends and his like, bodies all around the
- 1:01:24government now. And that's what, that's what I
- 1:01:28mean about like, pushing topic. And it's like, after you said
- 1:01:32like after the crisis and Soviet Union, he just Duke the country
- 1:01:37in his big arm, big strong arm, but the same time this arm can
- 1:01:42just choke you. Like choke you to death.
- 1:01:45And it's like a little bit more of this and that like a bit more
- 1:01:49of harsh bit of more of less harsh and people like love this
- 1:01:54stable politics with the with what's going on with them.
- 1:01:58What was going on with their children with their grandsons
- 1:02:03because they understand this, they can like, appreciate this,
- 1:02:08they can comprehend to this. So that's why they continue
- 1:02:12voting to put. But It's like it's it's out of
- 1:02:16his way, it's out of his age, everybody's saying, like even
- 1:02:19the university would that they enroll to, they're saying like
- 1:02:23your digital natives, you're like you just do people you live
- 1:02:26with your smartphone's, you wake only totalk in like Messengers
- 1:02:30and shit but the same time we'll live in Russia.
- 1:02:33Ishida hospitals. Yeah.
- 1:02:35Have broken like facilities of government.
- 1:02:38That's right. Like, with all the like big
- 1:02:42wages of Governments. He's very Wish, isn't it?
- 1:02:47Like today like really we righted don't really understand
- 1:02:50maybe I'm dumb. No, no, I think you hit on a
- 1:02:54very good point because there's a lot of countries in the world
- 1:02:57that have a similar situation where you know the average let's
- 1:03:01say living experience for a person is pretty substandard by
- 1:03:07comparison with other countries and people just put up with it
- 1:03:11you know because it's what they know you know it's life is life
- 1:03:16but then they'll also have access to like technology and
- 1:03:21Western stuff as well as it's like a very weird kind of mix of
- 1:03:24things as far as that's concerned.
- 1:03:28And yeah I get what you mean it's odd.
- 1:03:30Like when I started traveling around Europe and living in
- 1:03:33Europe, I sort of began to understand just the differences
- 1:03:38between countries and like how lucky I am to be from from UK in
- 1:03:45many respects but like I do kind of think that every country has
- 1:03:50it's good and it's bad things. Like even the UK is heavily
- 1:03:54flawed in many different ways and I think a lot of the time
- 1:03:58when you're picking somewhere to live It's a case of like, what
- 1:04:03am I happy to put up with? And what am I?
- 1:04:07What do I need? You know, like what can I do
- 1:04:09without? It's more like that, you know,
- 1:04:11nowhere is part of even like America which is, you know,
- 1:04:15labeled as like you know, this perfect place and everything's
- 1:04:18great. Like, obviously I'm not talking
- 1:04:19about right now just talking about, you know, over time over
- 1:04:23history. Yeah.
- 1:04:25The American dream. It's like, we all know that it's
- 1:04:27BS but like there is a lot of Truth in certain things.
- 1:04:31You know, being able to set up a business there and stuff like
- 1:04:34that. Yeah and make a living there but
- 1:04:37like it now you know, America is very unsafe and it's something
- 1:04:41that's like well you can move there but you you're at your own
- 1:04:44risk, you know? And it's It's tough.
- 1:04:48It's tough like anywhere. But yeah, but Russia is an
- 1:04:52interesting one, it really is. I mean, because I've seen I've
- 1:04:55seen that, you know, I'm a lot of Russian people in Estonia.
- 1:05:00I saw remnants of like the Soviet kind of, I don't know how
- 1:05:06to put it. Just just like, okay so there
- 1:05:09would be a lot of like Soviet era buildings that people still
- 1:05:12live in which I find that perfectly livable and such but
- 1:05:15just, you know, it's a different.
- 1:05:17It's like I think the best way to put it in at least in Estonia
- 1:05:20is it's like two worlds, kind of merging but like, you know, it's
- 1:05:25like putting together two jigsaw pieces that don't fit and it's
- 1:05:29that. Well, eventually someone's going
- 1:05:31to have to budge. Even we move forward and we move
- 1:05:36away from this. Or we don't move forward and we
- 1:05:40just stick with this. It's like just doesn't work, but
- 1:05:44it's the same in every single city is like given in Moscow,
- 1:05:48there are like older buildings. So the architect and at the same
- 1:05:54time, there is a lot of modern buildings like thin walls and
- 1:05:57like everything digital. It's really weird strange,
- 1:06:03right? Well, thanks for giving us that
- 1:06:06aren't Side Story. Be something interesting, moving
- 1:06:09it back to social media so you're wrong.
- 1:06:13This social media Network known as VK.
- 1:06:19It's a Russian website, social media websites been around for
- 1:06:22many years. I think, as long as my space,
- 1:06:25even if people remember that and the full name at least because
- 1:06:30it used to, just it used to be called the conductor and back to
- 1:06:36the conduct. Don't act, right?
- 1:06:38And now it's been shortened to VK, but it's been around a long
- 1:06:41time. I think it's a Russian only
- 1:06:45websites, not available in any other countries as a just
- 1:06:48Russian speaker. It's like, SMG places like
- 1:06:53stands older stars. Ukraine, belorussia yes, a
- 1:06:59russian-speaking countries? Basically?
- 1:07:01Yeah, russian-speaking. How does this social?
- 1:07:06Because on YouTube it's kind of like jokingly tongue-in-cheek
- 1:07:09listed as a tight space for my Russian buddies kind of thing
- 1:07:13and yeah I to me that makes perfect sense you know you're
- 1:07:15going to have different social media platforms.
- 1:07:18You want to appeal to your Western audience but you want to
- 1:07:21still appeal to you at your home audience as well makes perfect
- 1:07:24sense to me but how does it compare to Western social
- 1:07:29networks? You know like that you use like,
- 1:07:31say you Instagram, Twitter, whatever.
- 1:07:34Is it better or worse in any way?
- 1:07:37I don't know about the features or anything of the K, but is it
- 1:07:41does it is it better the same? What is it like what how does it
- 1:07:45work? And is it useful for promoting
- 1:07:49your YouTube? So it's actually the week, a
- 1:07:54thing came across just after the Facebook banked store, Zack made
- 1:08:01the Facebook and then one really interested in Ducks invention
- 1:08:09student made up of EK. So it's like pretty much the
- 1:08:12clone of Facebook. And so it has like by public
- 1:08:15Pages. It has like your own page, your
- 1:08:17friends count, some Some communities and cetera.
- 1:08:22So it's, I think it's quite interesting about the
- 1:08:28advertisement and all the promoting of your own stuff
- 1:08:33because there are, there is, as far as I know, a really good
- 1:08:37targeting system about the promoting stuff as an Instagram.
- 1:08:41So I I've got like a couple of public pages that I run with my
- 1:08:46friends like sharp and and like OverWatch.
- 1:08:50Paige. I had like 1K followers there.
- 1:08:55So it's it's interesting experience, but at the same time
- 1:09:00I think that we K is like not as solid social media.
- 1:09:05It's like not a solid big space for your work for us.
- 1:09:10For me it's like it's pretty much the Facebook.
- 1:09:13I just post every single video of my own on my wall in my
- 1:09:16public specials page and I just I don't care about it, like it's
- 1:09:22for my Russian friends because all the promotion goes to
- 1:09:26Russian friends who are subscribed to this page, you can
- 1:09:30tag like a couple of like, I don't know, Russian guys who
- 1:09:35interested in this and that in this tag, but at the same time,
- 1:09:38it's like Facebook is like not going anywhere.
- 1:09:40There are big groups of YouTubers who like, like for
- 1:09:44like, subscribe for subscribe. Yeah, like boy.
- 1:09:48Go and work so Is VK like old people Facebook, but for Russia.
- 1:09:55Now know. We have like another like, okay.
- 1:09:59It's like another VK. Okay.
- 1:10:01Right. Okay.
- 1:10:03It's like this place is trash. VK is like a little bits.
- 1:10:08That's like At been the trash bin, like like a big trash
- 1:10:14truck. Yeah.
- 1:10:15Upgrade in the trash can, that's all slightly clearer.
- 1:10:18Yeah. Yeah, pretty much.
- 1:10:19I use VK only for my body's only to message my friends and like
- 1:10:26to know things about my University and stuff or work
- 1:10:31because all the people like pretty much concentrating on VK
- 1:10:34not like using like WhatsApp or something like that.
- 1:10:37They used to be k for chats. I'm using like This pretty much
- 1:10:40only for work and connecting with my friends and colleagues.
- 1:10:44It's the same for me every spoke actually.
- 1:10:46I mean I use it. Yeah to keep in touch with
- 1:10:49family post memes and shit now and again but nothing that I
- 1:10:55don't it's mainly there. Yeah to keep in touch with
- 1:10:59family and friends and then I've got a public page for all of my
- 1:11:03you know all my projects and stuff but like I just look at it
- 1:11:07as another place. Like I don't really We care
- 1:11:11about it, I'm just like it would be silly not to have it.
- 1:11:14It would be silly not to post their, but at the same time like
- 1:11:18you say it's like not really. It's not like the police to.
- 1:11:24Yeah. I feel like if you're going to
- 1:11:26find people, that are genuinely interested in what you do, as
- 1:11:31far as that content creation is concerned, it's going to be
- 1:11:33through YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, you know, the places
- 1:11:38where people actually actively Things.
- 1:11:40I mean read it for instance is a good example to but it's bit
- 1:11:45different but yeah, I get where you're coming from and they just
- 1:11:49interesting to me to compare because obviously we don't have
- 1:11:54the K here. I remember I've always known
- 1:11:57about VK for many years but I just kind of assumed it was just
- 1:12:01you know, Russian version of Facebook basically.
- 1:12:03So it's interesting to know that there's other networks others
- 1:12:06much it makes sense as well that you guys.
- 1:12:09As use it for chat, suppose because obviously Facebook owns
- 1:12:13everything. Now as far as like yeah what's
- 1:12:16an Instagram model that it wouldn't necessarily be used as
- 1:12:21that the primary social media app in other in other regions of
- 1:12:25the world that makes sense. But anyway moving forward.
- 1:12:31What is my MBA? Jumba mahjongg.
- 1:12:37Okay, my jumper as so, if you started any video of mine, my
- 1:12:45classic intro is like, what is up on the jumbos spaces here.
- 1:12:49Welcome to another shitty horror game.
- 1:12:53So when I started watching like I don't I remember.
- 1:12:58Was it like usual smile for PewDiePie sometime like for the
- 1:13:02short time he was Getting to his audience like me jumpers.
- 1:13:08It's like Jambo Jambo is like something like with the Mexican
- 1:13:12stuff and all that, that, and I remember that when I was like,
- 1:13:16trying to improve my intros like first like couple of videos.
- 1:13:20Okay, I thought I was, I was saying like, what is up, guys,
- 1:13:23but guys, just like, what am I hipsters?
- 1:13:26Exist? Yeah sexist.
- 1:13:30Just kidding it like and I thought like every single
- 1:13:33YouTuber has like Named for their audience.
- 1:13:36Like, oh, I remember that Trend. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:13:40So I thought like, I'm from that old school, so I'll just do my
- 1:13:44jumper Clan. So we have like mogambo Clans.
- 1:13:46So every single subscribers me jumper for me.
- 1:13:50Okay. Cool.
- 1:13:51As ice cream a Jamba is like a friend or like, I don't know.
- 1:13:55Is that language? I don't know.
- 1:13:56Is that, is that a word even? But snuck, I really like that.
- 1:14:00That's what. I don't know.
- 1:14:01I just saw it on your YouTube and I thought it was funny.
- 1:14:04I thought I'd Find a creative way to ask you about that
- 1:14:08because I knew it was is listed as like our you're going to be
- 1:14:10part of this community. Yeah.
- 1:14:13But I just thought that was an interesting thing.
- 1:14:15Now let's talk a little bit about more about streaming.
- 1:14:21Now we know that you kind of stream with with your friends
- 1:14:26such as still Z and such, but why did you actually decide to
- 1:14:30start streaming on Twitch? Because I feel like this is a
- 1:14:33good question to ask people that do both.
- 1:14:34YouTube and twitch because they are so drastically different.
- 1:14:37I know it's possible to just upload the streams to YouTube
- 1:14:41and cut clips and stuff. But like it really to me, it
- 1:14:44sounds like you're really kind of trying to give YouTube a go
- 1:14:47on its own and you're doing these things separately.
- 1:14:51Yeah. We're going for service being
- 1:14:53that yet. Right.
- 1:14:53Yeah, so why did you decide to start streaming on Twitch?
- 1:15:00So I thought when the all the YouTube gaming And like, in
- 1:15:06midtown's of 2010, 2012, when the gaming pops has tagged as a
- 1:15:16category in YouTube, the started to do the gaming YouTube gaming.
- 1:15:21So I thought like it's not really a good platform to stream
- 1:15:26on because nowadays, A lot of people who stream on YouTube and
- 1:15:30like they are successful, they use all the features as it
- 1:15:33should, right? But at the same time, I thought
- 1:15:36like if you want to stream yourself even like just chatting
- 1:15:39or playing game or like connecting with your community,
- 1:15:42I think that which is more appealing to the audience.
- 1:15:47It's like when you go to Twitch I feel like I want to connect
- 1:15:52with the Creator. I want to see how you can look
- 1:15:56to calculate dogs, how he responds to the game life
- 1:16:00because in every video, like I think A lot of creators have
- 1:16:05this. You play in a character like
- 1:16:07video starts. You hit the right button.
- 1:16:10You're this funny guy but when you, I just with my editing one
- 1:16:16of my videos it's like specialist is a character for me
- 1:16:19because I really like I just decided for me is like spiders
- 1:16:23is a character. He's like he's a little bit
- 1:16:25crazy. He likes to shout.
- 1:16:26He likes to scream, he likes to like be mean and stuff but at
- 1:16:30the same time I'm not really that guy in real life because
- 1:16:33but I'm saying It's like, it's, it's like complicated I think
- 1:16:41because at the same time I can be like a really shy guy in the
- 1:16:44real life, but at the same time I can be really loud.
- 1:16:48Big Boy, YouTube's. So when you go to Twitch, you
- 1:16:52feel like the real energy of creature, even he is playing the
- 1:16:56character. He's not.
- 1:16:58You just see the man. The woman that attach a
- 1:17:03helicopter. Let's say, Let's say one day you
- 1:17:05become really big and really successful.
- 1:17:08Yeah, because I think there's a lot of YouTubers and twitch
- 1:17:11streamers that do exactly what you're doing.
- 1:17:14They essentially play a character online or if not a
- 1:17:18character, then a very souped-up kind of high-energy version of
- 1:17:23themself. But then the difficulty with
- 1:17:26that is that when you do eventually meet fans and do meet
- 1:17:29and greets, probably going to be very disappointed because you're
- 1:17:33not going to be that. Person in real life.
- 1:17:37I mean you could choose to be I suppose I suppose you could act
- 1:17:40all day but that's tiring to do that.
- 1:17:43Do you not anticipate a sort of a problem with this?
- 1:17:46That the reason that I ask this because when I started YouTube,
- 1:17:49The Thought very briefly crossed my mind like should I Not like
- 1:17:53consciously that portray a character but should I be, you
- 1:17:56know, souped up for the camera and stuff and my kind of
- 1:17:59conclusion was, this is a bad idea because if I do have fans
- 1:18:04or something in the future, I have to be that guy.
- 1:18:07And I don't want to be that guy just want to be myself from day
- 1:18:09one. So, talk to me a little bit
- 1:18:11about that. That, like, do you anticipate
- 1:18:14that as a problem or tall? No, not really.
- 1:18:17Because there is like in every other man like that.
- 1:18:22There is like big introvert and extrovert Barrett's of him.
- 1:18:27Like when you chilling with your friends, you like a little bit
- 1:18:30introverted, you just don't really want to scream and shout
- 1:18:33and do all this chip, but the same time, every single like,
- 1:18:37not a friend, but like her, mate, like, who knows you every
- 1:18:42single, like this person in like, my university in my work,
- 1:18:45they know, like this kind of spaz, because they know the
- 1:18:49time, like, I can be screaming, I can be joking around about
- 1:18:52like being Citizen stuff. But I'm not really with my
- 1:18:57family like this because I don't really know.
- 1:19:01Is that like, is that bipolar thing.
- 1:19:04But I really love to be introverted and extroverted of
- 1:19:09the same time because I can be just like chilling and being
- 1:19:13like screaming and being like joking around about bad stuff
- 1:19:17like a really like to try and steal his stream tube and
- 1:19:21history. Really.
- 1:19:22I don't want to ban. Yeah.
- 1:19:26And at the same time like I'm like this joke, a little weird
- 1:19:30guy in the University that everybody loves and everybody
- 1:19:33likes joke with. It's like not really big a
- 1:19:36character. I should say it's like big of
- 1:19:40what you want to be. It's like still developing the
- 1:19:44same time as you playing the character.
- 1:19:46So I really want to be like this.
- 1:19:49Be a better version of myself. And as you said, if I met
- 1:19:53somebody in real life and I met like Russian people and talked
- 1:19:58with some Indonesian subscribers and they they saying like you're
- 1:20:03a good guy like not that really big of a spaz.
- 1:20:07But at the same time it's really good to talk to you and really
- 1:20:11good like to hang around and just have a beer or something.
- 1:20:16so I thought, like that's the perfect, like centered version
- 1:20:20of me to me, it kind of sounds like you're Betraying one shade
- 1:20:28of your personality that you made a very good point there.
- 1:20:30What you said, like all you know, I wouldn't act this way in
- 1:20:32front of my parents and I think that's a fair point.
- 1:20:35You know we do act differently with different friends different
- 1:20:38groups because I thought I suppose it brings out different
- 1:20:40parts of us. Like I always try to be
- 1:20:43personally I was trying to be myself in all situations but is
- 1:20:46inevitable that when you're with certain people certain parts of
- 1:20:50you are pulled out and so on and so forth so yeah it is.
- 1:20:54To me it just sounds like it's just one shade of your
- 1:20:56personality that's coming out online.
- 1:20:58And In fairness we can all agree that when we're doing these
- 1:21:03YouTube videos or this trick streaming, we are pushing it a
- 1:21:06little bit for the camera because, you know, you can't
- 1:21:08just sit there like, like this make the video, you know, this
- 1:21:12we're just chillin like this and because no one who wants to
- 1:21:15watch that, you got to be more animated and start.
- 1:21:17So it is an opportunity to sort of do that.
- 1:21:21But yeah, cool, awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome.
- 1:21:24Was moving forward. Do you, would you say you prefer
- 1:21:30creating content for YouTube or twitch?
- 1:21:34Which is your favorite? I don't know, I just as I said
- 1:21:38like I don't care like a cool equipment for that which I
- 1:21:42really love streaming. I really love streaming, but at
- 1:21:45the same time I don't have like much of a Time living with my
- 1:21:49parents and my brother for example or and not like much of
- 1:21:54a All of the hardware in like Hardware is not allowing me to
- 1:21:59play. What I want to play.
- 1:22:00I want to be a big Fortnight streamer but I only play
- 1:22:04fortnight's on low level by my own.
- 1:22:07So I enjoy more of YouTube. In case of that, you can
- 1:22:14increase the quality of your content because you can just do
- 1:22:19all the post-production and like editing as you wanted.
- 1:22:24B and which you can really live with in life you can really add
- 1:22:29it what you want to edit. You want to edit a meme.
- 1:22:31You have to look at the meme. Download it, put it on the
- 1:22:35screen and now you have a mean and bang in the video, I kept
- 1:22:38this mean when that meeting and just an explosion, that's why I
- 1:22:42have want to have error. At some point you need to send
- 1:22:47it to do you not think it's kind of worth just starting even
- 1:22:53though you don't have the it meant that you want because I
- 1:22:56know that feeling I had the exact same concerns when I
- 1:23:01started doing this podcast, you know.
- 1:23:03So I've since been alive since been able to get a better Mike,
- 1:23:07shout out to steal Z for making that happen as always.
- 1:23:10Thank you so much but yeah I started with just some crappy
- 1:23:15microphone that I bought in Estonia that was worth like 20
- 1:23:19euros and you know I was frustrated at first as I are, I
- 1:23:23wish I could do More. I wish I had like the perfect
- 1:23:25camera. The perfect Mike and it's, we're
- 1:23:28still growing. We're still getting there, but
- 1:23:30it's like, do I guess what? I'm trying to ask you because
- 1:23:36because this was the decision I made as well.
- 1:23:38We should just go for it and get the stuff later on.
- 1:23:40Do you not think it's worth just starting out and growing?
- 1:23:44That following getting those people behind you?
- 1:23:47And then, you know, you could probably get like, things like
- 1:23:50donations or make money from, I don't know sponsorships or Soar
- 1:23:54through YouTube or Foo twitch, or however, and eventually get
- 1:23:59the things that you want. Because, as you've said, first
- 1:24:02and foremost, the content is the most important thing.
- 1:24:05The equipment obviously just makes it easier or better to
- 1:24:09produce what you want to produce.
- 1:24:10But like, first and foremost, people are coming to consume
- 1:24:14your content, you know, it's not about the fucking mic or
- 1:24:18something like that, idea, every with that because all the
- 1:24:23people, Really play all the games by themself, they don't
- 1:24:28really going on streams on YouTube, videos for the game,
- 1:24:32like, for real exceptions. Like when you can play really
- 1:24:35the game, or by the game, but the same time, they really don't
- 1:24:38want to see only the game. They want to see like a Content.
- 1:24:43They want to see, Joe's, they want to see your energy.
- 1:24:46They want to talk with you like on live streams.
- 1:24:49So I think that if you have like shooting Mike, if you don't have
- 1:24:53a camera but you have big eager to do this.
- 1:24:57I think it's like never never late, just do this, just spread
- 1:25:02your word, spread your like, butter on all the tasks that you
- 1:25:06want and get into that. So eloquently put.
- 1:25:13Okay. Switching up.
- 1:25:15Moving forward, you are also a musician.
- 1:25:19It's something that you don't kind of push as much as
- 1:25:22everything else. Now, I would say that's probably
- 1:25:25because you're still very much experimenting with this and
- 1:25:28it's, it feels to me like something that's a bit newer.
- 1:25:32I mean, I personally think that there's a lot of Promise in this
- 1:25:35in what you're doing. I'd I dug the sound of it.
- 1:25:38I thought it was I can tell you're not using like, the best
- 1:25:42equipment ever, but you know, you got to start somewhere and
- 1:25:46it's good for what you like, the equipment that you're using.
- 1:25:50You've done a very good job is basically what I'm trying to
- 1:25:52say. And you're kind of regularly.
- 1:25:55Releasing this music via your SoundCloud.
- 1:25:58So talk to us about, I guess what music kind of means to you
- 1:26:03in general. So with the music, there's like
- 1:26:08I thought that Music and the video are different.
- 1:26:12It's like production-wise, the editing wise, the post
- 1:26:16production wise and I thought it's like a really hard work and
- 1:26:20at the same time, I really wanted to know any like music
- 1:26:24theory or like get into music school or stuff.
- 1:26:27But I don't like I don't I don't understand in any notes.
- 1:26:33I mean like I don't play guitar. I play ukulele only by the
- 1:26:38chords. Online, like, showing how you
- 1:26:41have to put your fingers on it. So I don't know notes, but when
- 1:26:46I try, I was looking at the YouTube videos like in my
- 1:26:50recommendations like how to make this kind wrap trap music, like
- 1:26:54by like Lilia tea or something and I saw like there's like
- 1:26:59basic FL Studio basic Ableton, you can just download it and
- 1:27:04just click around. So, download it, it started to
- 1:27:08click around like And I don't want to brag or anything but
- 1:27:12everybody saying like I have a good taste in music.
- 1:27:16So, I'm like, listening to music and I understand like notes,
- 1:27:20like, in my head not like, knowledge wise, but in my head,
- 1:27:25I know that this sounds good. So I started to like big some
- 1:27:29notes, big, some chords speak some patterns, try to experiment
- 1:27:35it. So I didn't like push it so much
- 1:27:39in Content. But really I enjoyed making
- 1:27:43music. I don't really do that recently
- 1:27:45because it's like, when you hit you, you just spinning all all
- 1:27:49night, all night. We're just making this track.
- 1:27:52Yeah. And that's why I don't really
- 1:27:55listen to music when I'm traveling, like by bus by tram
- 1:27:59buy something because because when you listen to music, you
- 1:28:03only listen to like when I was listening to Joe G's new album
- 1:28:08and I made next. Track of mine.
- 1:28:10I noticed that the inch of the track was the same Melody as the
- 1:28:15job, geez, but I still don't know the chords, I still don't
- 1:28:18know notes but I replay that with my own brain.
- 1:28:23So I thought, like if you don't listen to music when you're
- 1:28:25traveling, like to work to University or to school, you
- 1:28:30have this little development going on your your brain is
- 1:28:34board. So it's starting to produce
- 1:28:36music. So I'm like I'm trying to Do it
- 1:28:39like in my phone, then just remember this sound.
- 1:28:44Just go back home and do it on my laptop.
- 1:28:47So it's like more productive to make you sounds and you music.
- 1:28:51Okay. What are your goals with music?
- 1:28:56I really know. So I have like a little much
- 1:28:59more of audience in SoundCloud because on my I don't know how
- 1:29:05it's like YouTube wise and SoundCloud wise listens like
- 1:29:09views, there is a lot of them and I was not expecting this.
- 1:29:14I just put tags on I like put my own photo shops of the previews
- 1:29:20and that's all. I'm just throw it there and go
- 1:29:23just playing video games and when I go back, Can hear that.
- 1:29:27People really love the sounds. It's like I really want to make
- 1:29:32people like sad and horny because that's what I'm
- 1:29:37classify. My music.
- 1:29:39Still a dimple 1e sudden horny. Yeah, so it's like heartbroken
- 1:29:44playlist. I don't know, something like
- 1:29:46that. I'm not really like sad all the
- 1:29:49time, but I really like making sad music.
- 1:29:52She's a pretty random mix of of two motions right there, sir.
- 1:29:56Sad and not the horny. It's it's my style of think.
- 1:30:02I thought like for example, like which genre of music you're
- 1:30:06making like what is your genre is?
- 1:30:08I'm saying like silent horny. Just nice me shit.
- 1:30:13Yeah, because it for those who haven't listened to I recommend
- 1:30:16you go and listen to on Sanka, it's good stuff.
- 1:30:18It's Lo-Fi kind of experiment or hip-hop, I guess.
- 1:30:24But like you say it's difficult to put Honorees on things these
- 1:30:27days especially if it gets more and more experimental, but it's
- 1:30:31cool. And I like the fact that you do
- 1:30:33it in Russian as well. I don't think it massively makes
- 1:30:37a big difference if it's in English or Russian particularly,
- 1:30:40but I will say that the Russian language is very nice for music.
- 1:30:44There's a lot of fantastic Russian musicians out there.
- 1:30:49Just kind of gives it a different vibe, I guess.
- 1:30:53So that's cool. But what could we kind of From
- 1:30:56you in the future, in terms of your music.
- 1:30:58I mean, you mentioned that you're not really doing stuff
- 1:31:00right now, but as you said before, you kind of comes to you
- 1:31:04at certain times and I'm the same, like I write music when it
- 1:31:08comes to me and if I get an idea, I start writing on it so
- 1:31:11that I don't get worried, like, if I haven't released music in a
- 1:31:13while. So when do you reckon we could
- 1:31:17like, do you have an idea of you, sort of, I don't know,
- 1:31:22earmarked a certain time. Or are you just kind of, you
- 1:31:25know? In for the inspiration to come.
- 1:31:30Actually. Now, I'm working with the witch
- 1:31:32house genre. Okay.
- 1:31:34So I really love like this dark wipe or Real Horror stuff too,
- 1:31:40so which, which house is like a little bit Dancy, a little bit
- 1:31:43scary sounds, but it's still the house.
- 1:31:47So I've almost produced the track to the to the perfect fit
- 1:31:52that I want to and me and my friends are going to shoot a
- 1:31:56video like a music video, cool. So music video to come.
- 1:32:01I'm trying to do which house now.
- 1:32:04Excellent. Excellent.
- 1:32:06Well, if you need a singer, give me a shout out because I say,
- 1:32:09yeah, yeah, that's how many different looks awesome.
- 1:32:13That well that's, that's great. Actually that you've got
- 1:32:15something upcoming. So there is something coming for
- 1:32:18you in terms of Music fantabulous and yeah, so moving
- 1:32:24it forward, as I guess to kind of put a little bow on this
- 1:32:31particular podcast, draw it to a close.
- 1:32:34Do you have any major upcoming projects through that YouTube or
- 1:32:39twitch that you'd like to share with us particular things that
- 1:32:43you'd like to plug, or maybe just some final thoughts that
- 1:32:45you'd like to share to your followers or to anyone that
- 1:32:49isn't currently following? You now is your time to plug
- 1:32:51yourself, go nuts. Step two, spares, boys and
- 1:32:57girls. I'm not sexist.
- 1:33:00Yeah, that's the mean. Was going with the German.
- 1:33:03Boys would still Z like sub two spares always on his dreams?
- 1:33:07So yeah. I'm going to release less of a
- 1:33:10gaming content and try to get more into IRL stuff.
- 1:33:14So more Vlogs to happen because I'm moving places more
- 1:33:16challenges and crazy stuff like I really enjoy, filthy Frank, so
- 1:33:23let's see. Will Road will take me when I'm
- 1:33:26like living by myself with my friends.
- 1:33:28So yeah that's that's the main reason and the second one I
- 1:33:34really to I need to make a video about this like is quicker than
- 1:33:40your podcast. I'm going to create a second
- 1:33:44channel. It's four locations on this
- 1:33:46emotion and try to wing it like not this every single day videos
- 1:33:52but like twice or three times Times a week, okay, but it's
- 1:33:56more. I think it's more quality to
- 1:33:59this. We always say, in which tells
- 1:34:01you like it's quality over quantity so and I don't really
- 1:34:06think that's in the YouTube. Now, it's some time ago, YouTube
- 1:34:11was rewarding guys who upload daily like twice like except
- 1:34:16youkai who got this and now it's like, not really about that.
- 1:34:19It's about watch time and like shorter videos more interesting
- 1:34:22continent. Inside.
- 1:34:24So I'm really trying to focus on that new Strat and I will upload
- 1:34:31once or twice on Russian Russian channel, so it's going to be
- 1:34:36interesting. It's going to be, I don't know.
- 1:34:40I really don't know. I really want to like include
- 1:34:43more people into my like viewership and like into my
- 1:34:47image a clan so I can, like, understand what people see that
- 1:34:52I'm doing and they like, Really to watch it.
- 1:34:56This is pretty interesting. Yeah, that you're going to have
- 1:34:58two separate channels at 144 English or International on one
- 1:35:03foot for Russian. Like I find that is this kind of
- 1:35:06interesting to me. You know, I mean because it's
- 1:35:08the same guy same person but yeah dis different audiences
- 1:35:13because they are the excellent speaks their language.
- 1:35:16Yeah, it's like clicking on the channel Greek.
- 1:35:19Pair of skinny jeans when you click on his back and a oh, And
- 1:35:27I get what you mean. I get what you mean.
- 1:35:29I think it can only work out in a positive way.
- 1:35:33I think. If anything, it would be good if
- 1:35:36it helps you to leverage fat. Like I think, you know, if your
- 1:35:39Russian fans enjoy you and they want to check out more of you
- 1:35:42than they can see in your International stuff.
- 1:35:46And yeah, it just kind of gets you out there to more people
- 1:35:49really, doesn't? It and allows you to the
- 1:35:51sandbox, and it allows you to stuff it in your native language
- 1:35:54as well. Which as I and speaking of a
- 1:35:57languages as well, it does kind of Effects.
- 1:36:01How you create things and the vibe.
- 1:36:04And the fear is different in different languages.
- 1:36:07So there is that. Well, listen, thank you very
- 1:36:11much for being on the podcast. It's been an absolute pleasure
- 1:36:15and another, another great interview, another great podcast
- 1:36:18of really enjoyed it to everyone listening to the Christian we've
- 1:36:22podcast Christian Reeve podcast Jesus I nearly did the spelling
- 1:36:26mistake that everyone does with my name pisses me off.

- 1:37:15I don't, I don't doesn't care. I don't care if you have a small
- 1:37:17following or a massive following, you know, might
- 1:37:19change the nature of how I do the interview, but I always go
- 1:37:23through the same process. I always do as much research as
- 1:37:26I can and try and put my guests in the back in the bed.
- 1:37:29Possible light but I think more importantly, I always try to
- 1:37:31give people a platform to speak which people don't always
- 1:37:35necessarily have. There's no very easy to talk
- 1:37:37about yourself. Whereas, if you're being
- 1:37:39interviewed, it's much easier. So yeah.
- 1:37:43And also, yeah, for everyone listening, if you just have
- 1:37:45topics that you'd like me to cover in the podcast because I
- 1:37:48know we've occasionally, we do podcast, which just me talking

- 1:37:55pretty much anything. So if you do, have any topics

- 1:38:01comments. Please let me know or look at

- 1:38:08Yes. Go to the YouTube video to see
