- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Powered by Seahawks.com. Now, here's your host, Nassau Chobie.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome back to another edition of Hawk Talk. The Seahawks
- 0:14Speaker 1: getting ready to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in
- 0:17Speaker 1: Sunday Night Football Bump, hoping to break the losing streak.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Yeah, man. We got to get back in the win column.
- 0:23Speaker 3: It's been a while since we've been on a little
- 0:24Speaker 3: streak like this, but this is the NFL.
- 0:27Speaker 2: They got players, too. Let's see what we can do.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I mean, for context, for everyone watching and listening,
- 0:32Speaker 1: the Seahawks have not lost back-to-back games since the end
- 0:34Speaker 1: of December of 2024. Mike McDonald's first year as Seahawks coach.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Sam Darnold actually was playing for the Vikings in one
- 0:40Speaker 1: of those back-to-back losses. That's how long it's been. So
- 0:43Speaker 1: they've been on a great run. Obviously, listen, they've lost
- 0:47Speaker 1: three games by eight points. In those three games, they've
- 0:50Speaker 1: turned the ball over ten times.
- 0:52Speaker 2: You don't do that.
- 0:52Speaker 1: This team could easily be 6-0, but it is what
- 0:54Speaker 1: it is. That's why they play the games differently. Since
- 0:56Speaker 1: we weren't able to do a recap podcast after last
- 0:59Speaker 1: Thursday bump, quickly, what did you learn from the Seahawks
- 1:01Speaker 1: and the Broncos game last week?
- 1:03Speaker 3: Man, I learned something I already knew. It was just reaffirm, man.
- 1:07Speaker 3: They're just resilient. The defense is going to give the
- 1:09Speaker 3: offense a chance to win the ball game, right?
- 1:11Speaker 2: In all games.
- 1:12Speaker 3: You look at the second half numbers by the Broncos.
- 1:14Speaker 3: That defense was lights out.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Bo Nix, I think I saw a stat.
- 1:19Speaker 3: He's only thrown like two or three footballs, air yards,
- 1:22Speaker 3: further than 10 yards this year. And it seemed like
- 1:24Speaker 3: he didn't do any. against this defense. Man, I'm just
- 1:27Speaker 3: amazed by the defense every week.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's the thing. They will give you a
- 1:30Speaker 2: chance to win. You said it great.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Every game that this team is in, they'll have a
- 1:33Speaker 1: chance to win when you play defense that way, and
- 1:35Speaker 1: it's great to see. And honestly, for me, even the
- 1:40Speaker 1: offense is resilient. That was as bad as the first
- 1:44Speaker 1: half as you can think of, and they still at
- 1:46Speaker 1: the end, even after a late turnover, come down the field.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Rasheed has a nice return. They did what they had
- 1:52Speaker 1: to do to stay competitive. They obviously want to play better.
- 1:54Speaker 2: We know that.
- 1:55Speaker 1: But this team is full of resilient guys in this
- 1:57Speaker 1: locker room, and I promise you they are not phased
- 1:59Speaker 1: from it. You take a couple extra days off after
- 2:02Speaker 1: the short week last week. You have a long week
- 2:04Speaker 1: to prepare for this game. They're going to be ready
- 2:05Speaker 1: to go against the Kansas City Chiefs, Ken Walker, all
- 2:09Speaker 1: that coming into Lumen Field on Sunday Night Football. A
- 2:11Speaker 1: couple quick player updates throughout the week. Anthony Bradford back
- 2:15Speaker 1: to practice. Assuming he has a good week, he's going
- 2:17Speaker 1: to be starting for the Seahawks at right guard, which
- 2:19Speaker 1: is a crazy thing because a lot of people really
- 2:21Speaker 1: slandering that man. And I'm excited because now people are like, well,
- 2:24Speaker 1: you know what? He can help us. He's a good
- 2:25Speaker 1: football player. Excited for Bradford to be back out there.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Zach Charbonnet, that's the big one, has a chance to
- 2:30Speaker 1: play this week. He's getting a full week's worth of reps.
- 2:34Speaker 1: So hopefully he's back out there in some capacity, according
- 2:37Speaker 1: to Coach McDonald. And unfortunately, the Seahawks will be without
- 2:39Speaker 1: Elijah Arroyo.
- 2:40Speaker 2: He went on IR. And we'll see about Drake Thomas.
- 2:44Speaker 2: All right.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Well, get some guys back. You lose some guys. That
- 2:46Speaker 3: is the circle of life in the NFL. So hopefully
- 2:49Speaker 3: Bradford balls out and we get a little bit of Charbonnet.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Absolutely. Let's get into these Chiefs. What's on tap? What's
- 2:55Speaker 2: on tap? 5-0 bump.
- 2:57Speaker 1: First place in the AFC West, beating the Broncos, Colts, Dolphins, Raiders,
- 3:02Speaker 1: and Chargers. They seem to be back to their old
- 3:04Speaker 1: winning ways, opening the season, like I said, 5-0. Patrick Mahomes,
- 3:07Speaker 1: he's healthy. Ken Walker is running absolutely wild. Travis Kelsey
- 3:11Speaker 1: fending off father time. And these Chiefs are one of
- 3:13Speaker 1: the last three teams to remain unbeaten on the season.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Against the Chargers bump, wasn't a super exciting game, but
- 3:18Speaker 1: they were in control from jump.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Yeah, the Chiefs were up 9-3 at half after two
- 3:23Speaker 3: great touchdown runs from who?
- 3:25Speaker 2: K-9. And two field goals from Harrison Butker. Like saying
- 3:29Speaker 2: that name.
- 3:29Speaker 3: The second half was slow with each team adding just
- 3:32Speaker 3: a field goal as the Chiefs went to win 22-6.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Pat Mahomes, 23 of 30, 272. Zero touchdowns. Did have interception.
- 3:40Speaker 3: K-9 can tease and put up huge numbers. 19 carries,
- 3:42Speaker 3: 128 yards, two touchdowns. He's playing elite level. And you
- 3:46Speaker 3: got Xavier Worthy who led all receivers with 73 yards
- 3:48Speaker 3: and seven receptions for the Chargers. Herbert, 22 of 37, 204,
- 3:52Speaker 3: zero touchdowns, one interception. He also led the team in
- 3:56Speaker 3: rushing with a whopping 26 yards and five carries.
- 4:00Speaker 2: That's not great. No, not good. That charge is struggling, man.
- 4:03Speaker 2: They're struggling.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Yeah, they're 0-6. I mean, big changes probably coming for them.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Not great what's going on over there, unfortunately. But for
- 4:11Speaker 1: the Chiefs, You know, the Chargers aren't a good football team.
- 4:14Speaker 1: If you look at their schedule, yeah, the Dolphins aren't
- 4:16Speaker 1: a good team. Colts are struggling. They're down bad. The
- 4:19Speaker 1: Raiders are kind of struggling, too. Obviously, you play these
- 4:22Speaker 1: on the schedule.
- 4:23Speaker 2: No shade. They're 5-0. They're playing unbelievable football.
- 4:25Speaker 1: But it'll be interesting to see when they go up
- 4:28Speaker 1: against a defense like the Seahawks. But when you look
- 4:30Speaker 1: at these numbers, man, you've got the number one offense
- 4:34Speaker 1: taking on the number one defense. So that matchup is
- 4:36Speaker 1: going to be crazy. Looking at the numbers for the
- 4:37Speaker 1: Seahawks offense, they are 17th in the NFL. averaging 332
- 4:41Speaker 1: yards per game, 18th for the run, 16th passing offense,
- 4:45Speaker 1: 13th in points per game. You look at the Chiefs,
- 4:48Speaker 1: cream of the crop. Number one, averaging 414 yards a game.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Number two, rushing attack, 159.8 yards per game. Ninth passing offense, 254,
- 4:58Speaker 1: and fifth in points per game. So they are putting
- 5:00Speaker 1: up numbers offensively for sure.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Yeah, Chiefs are moving, grooving, man. Canine doing his thing.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Of course, you got the Pat Mahomes over there. Defensively,
- 5:08Speaker 3: number one versus number eight. Hawks 10th against the run.
- 5:11Speaker 3: The Chiefs number six. Hawks first against the pass.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Good stuff. The Chiefs 15th against the pass.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Points allowed. The Hawks seventh allowing 20.3. And the Chiefs
- 5:20Speaker 3: second allowing 16.6.
- 5:21Speaker 1: So it's going to be a game, obviously. Anytime you
- 5:27Speaker 1: put the number one offense versus number one defense, get
- 5:30Speaker 1: your popcorn ready. That's why it's on Sunday night. It's
- 5:32Speaker 1: going to be fun there. And something's got to give.
- 5:34Speaker 1: We're going to talk a lot about this offensive matchup.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Something's got to give. between that run game and the
- 5:39Speaker 1: seahawks run defense i'm excited to look at that matchup
- 5:42Speaker 1: but before we do let's know the history between these two.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Teams know your history chiefs they lead the all-time series
- 5:50Speaker 2: 34 to 19 yeah and.
- 5:51Speaker 1: They had others it was a tough place to play
- 5:54Speaker 1: back in the day there if you talk to any
- 5:56Speaker 1: of the older guys sorry i called you old but
- 5:58Speaker 1: rabel wyman moore all those guys it was from for
- 6:01Speaker 1: 10 years they didn't win a game in kansas city
- 6:03Speaker 1: wow Um, so obviously it was a tough place to
- 6:05Speaker 1: play at Arrowhead for sure. Seahawks old AFC West rivals
- 6:09Speaker 1: have won four of the last five games. The last
- 6:12Speaker 1: matchup was a 24, 10 win Arrowhead stadium bump. And
- 6:16Speaker 1: I'll gloss over this pretty quickly. Cause that was a
- 6:17Speaker 1: rough time for one. There's a massive ice storm that
- 6:21Speaker 1: hit Seattle. And if you weren't on the team playing,
- 6:24Speaker 1: I don't know if you made it there. It was
- 6:26Speaker 1: rough or engineered to make it there. The broadcast didn't
- 6:29Speaker 1: sound great. I remember we were doing the show from
- 6:31Speaker 1: the studio, and you were the backup play-by-play just in
- 6:33Speaker 1: case we couldn't get the stuff on off of TV.
- 6:36Speaker 2: It was a different time.
- 6:37Speaker 1: And on the field, it wasn't that great either.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Almost had my chance. Almost had my chance.
- 6:42Speaker 1: And on the field, it wasn't much better. Really, the
- 6:46Speaker 1: biggest moment from that game was the photo of DK Metcalf.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I don't know if you remember that. When all the
- 6:50Speaker 1: receivers were, because it was like zero degrees outside, and
- 6:52Speaker 1: they were all flexing before the game, shirts off and
- 6:55Speaker 1: all that.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:55Speaker 1: That was probably the most memorable thing because they were
- 6:57Speaker 1: down 17-3 at halftime, down 24-3 before Noah Fant caught
- 7:01Speaker 1: a touchdown to make it 24-10. Ken Walker, against the Chiefs,
- 7:05Speaker 1: was 26 carries, 107 yards. Mahomes threw two touchdowns, and
- 7:08Speaker 1: Kelsey had 113 yards and six receptions. That team, wow,
- 7:13Speaker 1: it's hard to even compare the two teams from that day,
- 7:16Speaker 1: especially with the Seahawks and how everything has changed there. So, obviously,
- 7:19Speaker 1: it'll be a better result. I can tell you what, though,
- 7:21Speaker 1: Obama's going to be in a lot better conditions on Sunday.
- 7:24Speaker 2: For sure.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Yeah, let's get things rolling, man.
- 7:28Speaker 2: We'll be doing. We're about to go to the NFC West.
- 7:32Speaker 2: What's the word?
- 7:34Speaker 3: Where my soldiers at?
- 7:35Speaker 2: Westside! Where my soldiers at? Westside! And the Seahawks are
- 7:38Speaker 2: the NFC West champs again. What's the word in the
- 7:42Speaker 2: West on Hawk Talk? It's looking weird in the West.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Last year didn't look like this. Turn in. Niners at
- 7:49Speaker 2: the top, 6-0. Seahawks 3-3. Rams 2-4.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Cardinals 2-4. It's going down in the West, man. Tipper
- 7:56Speaker 3: caps to the 49ers for now. We will catch you.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Let's talk about this Cardinals and Rams game, though. After
- 8:01Speaker 3: a tough game on Thursday night, I know this game
- 8:03Speaker 3: made Seahawks fans pretty happy to watch another division rival struggle.
- 8:08Speaker 2: The Rams were huge favors against the Cardinals at home.
- 8:10Speaker 3: The preseason Super Bowl champs, that's funny, lost another tight
- 8:14Speaker 3: game at SoFi, losing 18-16. The Cardinals have won more
- 8:19Speaker 3: games at SoFi than the Rams have.
- 8:21Speaker 2: That's messed up. And they've only won two games.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Yes, that's messed up. They've also snapped a game-losing streak.
- 8:27Speaker 3: Arizona's defense has been one of the NFL's worst this
- 8:29Speaker 3: season until it held McVay, Stafford, and their talented union
- 8:34Speaker 3: to 286 yards total. The Rams special teams took another
- 8:37Speaker 3: hit when new kicker Blake Grupe, am I saying that right?
- 8:41Speaker 2: Yep. Was injured trying to make a tackle and kickoff.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Just trying. You know, I think it was his right knee.
- 8:47Speaker 2: I saw him plant in the ground and push off
- 8:49Speaker 2: of it. And poor guy. He's only like $ 1.
- 8:50Speaker 1: 50, $ 1.
- 8:50Speaker 3: 60. He's trying to make a tackle. He got spun around.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Poor dude, man. The game was a field goal fest,
- 8:56Speaker 3: but let's fast forward to the end of the game.
- 8:58Speaker 3: The Rams put together an 8-play, 86-yard drive in just
- 9:01Speaker 3: two minutes and took the lead at 16-15 with 47
- 9:05Speaker 3: seconds remaining.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Then what?
- 9:07Speaker 1: Cardinals were helped by a questionable and necessary roughness penalty,
- 9:10Speaker 1: but it is what it is. Brooks got the reception
- 9:13Speaker 1: that helped the Cardinals get in the field goal range.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Chad Ryland hit the game-winning field goal.
- 9:17Speaker 2: 4-3 yarder. They win the game without scoring a touchdown.
- 9:20Speaker 1: While that penalty was definitely questionable, that's not why.
- 9:24Speaker 2: They lost the game. They were physically beaten that whole game.
- 9:27Speaker 2: They did not play well.
- 9:29Speaker 1: You look at it, Stafford just 25-33, 2-22, two touchdowns.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Pukutukua 80 yards on six receptions. Kyron Williams 50 yards
- 9:36Speaker 1: on 10 carries bump. But the Rams are down bad injury-wise,
- 9:40Speaker 1: and it just continues to get worse. So, Devontae Adams
- 9:44Speaker 1: ruptured his hammy. He's out six to ten weeks. Puna Ford,
- 9:48Speaker 1: our guy, former Seahawk, ruptures triceps.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Out for the season.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Kobe Turner, another really good player, gave us fits on
- 9:54Speaker 1: that defensive line, strained a groin, expected to miss a
- 9:57Speaker 1: handful of weeks. late groupie newly signed kicker towards acl
- 10:01Speaker 1: on that play and you want to talk about special
- 10:05Speaker 1: teams continuing to hurt them yeah when you saw groupie
- 10:08Speaker 1: make that tackle i'm not making light of the situation
- 10:10Speaker 1: i'm not i'm speedy recovery never want to see anyone
- 10:13Speaker 1: get hurt but that would be like For everyone out
- 10:17Speaker 1: there in the comments of these players saying all that
- 10:19Speaker 1: kind of stuff, that's what it would look like if
- 10:21Speaker 1: you tried to tackle these guys.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. They're professional athletes. They're the best in the world.
- 10:25Speaker 1: So when you're buying your keyboards and you're saying, I
- 10:27Speaker 1: could do blank, blank, that's what it would look like.
- 10:29Speaker 2: I just want to remind everybody about that. That's well said.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Well said.
- 10:34Speaker 1: So, again, I keep saying this all year. The Rams
- 10:37Speaker 1: are a very good football team.
- 10:38Speaker 2: We know that.
- 10:40Speaker 1: But the more time goes on, the more these injuries
- 10:42Speaker 1: stack up, the more adversity sits.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Can we keep saying they're a very good football team?
- 10:46Speaker 2: They're 2-4. You're right. Maybe we shouldn't. Because on paper,
- 10:50Speaker 2: they're a great team. On paper, they won. On paper,
- 10:53Speaker 2: they won.
- 10:54Speaker 3: But in reality, they're struggling, man. Everybody's speedy recovery, though, man.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Everybody.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Yeah, and then elsewhere in the division, the Commanders, 49ers. 49ers, man,
- 11:03Speaker 1: tip your cap. They just keep finding ways to win.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Dominating the Commanders.
- 11:07Speaker 2: They're up 20-3.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Led 23-3 midway through the third quarter. Commanders, though, they
- 11:11Speaker 1: come all the way back, making it a one-score game.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Niners punt on their final three possessions. So Commanders had
- 11:16Speaker 1: the ball down a score twice in the fourth quarter,
- 11:19Speaker 1: but they weren't able to get the job done. They
- 11:21Speaker 1: turned the ball over on downs after incomplete pass in
- 11:23Speaker 1: fourth and three. In the final possession, they had a
- 11:25Speaker 1: second and 10 from the Niners' 28-yard line. Jane Daniels,
- 11:28Speaker 1: intentional grounding. Then he gets sacked. Game ends. Purdy, 21-29, 264,
- 11:33Speaker 1: one touchdown. McCaffrey had a solid day, 64 yards, 16 carries.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Did lose a fumble, but did have two touchdowns. That
- 11:39Speaker 1: was his.
- 11:40Speaker 2: First fumble in like 500 touches. That's insane. Crazy. And,
- 11:43Speaker 2: you know, they used the heck out of McCaffrey, man.
- 11:45Speaker 1: But, Bump, can you, again, and I hate to say
- 11:48Speaker 1: this because there's a lot of former Seahawks connections on
- 11:50Speaker 1: the commanders right now.
- 11:52Speaker 2: What is going on game management-wise? What is happening? How
- 11:55Speaker 2: do you throw the ball away in fourth and three?
- 11:56Speaker 2: I don't care if you saw the flag. I don't care.
- 11:58Speaker 3: No.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Here's the thing, too, is I feel bad for Dan Quinn. 100%.
- 12:02Speaker 2: You know for sure.
- 12:05Speaker 3: They've had conversations about this, especially after the week before
- 12:08Speaker 3: where you go down and there's no urgency. You're not
- 12:12Speaker 3: getting up to get a play going. Anyway, Jaden Daniels
- 12:16Speaker 3: just needs to lock it in. That's all you can say.
- 12:18Speaker 3: He's played enough football to know you are the quarterback.
- 12:21Speaker 3: You must be situationally aware at all times. And unfortunately,
- 12:25Speaker 3: it's going to fall on Dan Quinn. If these guys
- 12:27Speaker 3: don't put together some wins here late, who knows what's
- 12:30Speaker 3: going to happen.
- 12:31Speaker 1: I'm happy they stayed in the game and made it
- 12:33Speaker 1: competitive and then didn't just get boat raced after that.
- 12:35Speaker 1: So it shows, like, the team is still committed to him.
- 12:37Speaker 1: The team is still playing hard. It just can't happen.
- 12:39Speaker 3: It can't happen, man, on any level. You know what?
- 12:41Speaker 3: Pop Warner, you got it. Pop Warner, okay. But after that, man,
- 12:45Speaker 3: there's constant communication. Let's figure this out and make sure
- 12:48Speaker 3: everybody's good, especially after the week before you had a
- 12:51Speaker 3: mishap as well.
- 12:52Speaker 2: It's four down. Give somebody a chance. Just throw it up, kid.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Throw it up.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Anyway, and obviously you can tell my root and interest.
- 12:59Speaker 1: That's why I'm like, come on, guys.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Get it together. Come on, man. Holy smokes. Anyway, let's
- 13:04Speaker 2: get back to these Kansas City Chiefs. Man up. Hey,
- 13:06Speaker 2: who you got? Who you got? You know what time
- 13:08Speaker 2: it is. Man up. Man up, brother. Man up. Man
- 13:11Speaker 2: up on Hawk Talk.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Where we always start, quarterbacks start with one of the
- 13:16Speaker 1: best to ever do it. Patrick Mahomes taking on this
- 13:20Speaker 1: Seahawks defense. He's the best quarterback of this generation.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Yep.
- 13:24Speaker 2: After Tom Brady, it's Patrick Mahomes.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Five Super Bowl appearances, three Super Bowl wins, three-time Super
- 13:29Speaker 1: Bowl MVP, six-time Pro Bowler, two-time first-team All-Pro, two-time MVP,
- 13:33Speaker 1: offensive player of the year, 17-4 playoff record. I could
- 13:35Speaker 1: go on and on and on. The track record predates him.
- 13:38Speaker 1: He is a dog. 2025, though, was a first-time bump.
- 13:42Speaker 1: He's had a major injury in his career.
- 13:44Speaker 2: He's been hurt. He's had ankles. He's had knees. He's
- 13:45Speaker 2: had all that stuff.
- 13:46Speaker 1: But he tears his ACL week 15 or at the
- 13:48Speaker 1: end of last season, something like that, against the Chargers.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Despite that injury, though, he starts the year. I think
- 13:54Speaker 1: he's back before people thought. Healthy, good to go week one.
- 13:57Speaker 1: And he's playing pretty good. So far in this year,
- 13:59Speaker 1: he's 105 for 158, 66 completion percentage, 1,300 yards, nine touchdowns,
- 14:04Speaker 1: three interceptions. I mean, he's doing well. He's not putting
- 14:11Speaker 1: up the MVP type numbers.
- 14:13Speaker 3: You don't have to. You don't have to. K-9 running
- 14:16Speaker 3: that rock, man. He doesn't have to. But he is
- 14:20Speaker 3: still capable. You never sleep on Pat Mahomes.
- 14:22Speaker 2: He's liable.
- 14:23Speaker 3: To have a big game, but thankfully he's going up
- 14:25Speaker 3: against the best defense in all the land, the Seahawks defense.
- 14:30Speaker 3: So got to make it messy for him and the
- 14:32Speaker 3: best passing defense if you want to try to get busy, Mahomes.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Let's talk about our quarterback, Sam Darnold. He's nice.
- 14:37Speaker 3: He's coming off a tough game against the Broncos, 27-51, 278,
- 14:41Speaker 3: zero touchdowns.
- 14:42Speaker 2: He did throw two interceptions.
- 14:43Speaker 3: He's thrown an interception in every game this year except
- 14:46Speaker 3: for the Patriots when he only played about five games.
- 14:49Speaker 2: We haven't seen the best from him yet, but you
- 14:51Speaker 2: know what? It's coming. I believe. I believe. It's the
- 14:54Speaker 2: same guy who.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Led the NFL with 30 wins by QB since 2024.
- 14:59Speaker 3: 100-plus passer rating in 22 games since 2024.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Third best in the NFL.
- 15:04Speaker 3: 19 games with 100-plus passer rating and two touchdowns since 2024.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Second in the NFL.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Fourth highest passer rating in the conference championship game in
- 15:12Speaker 3: NFL history.
- 15:13Speaker 2: I'm just saying, let's not forget who this man is.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Without question, I don't think a couple bad games should
- 15:20Speaker 1: erase the previous 30.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Right. It's unfortunate. No, everyone offensively wants to play better.
- 15:26Speaker 1: I think all those guys will tell you they've yet
- 15:28Speaker 1: to put four quarters together. And that's every position on
- 15:30Speaker 1: the field. So I just I'm excited for Sam because
- 15:33Speaker 1: he's got a really good opportunity. National audience. The haters
- 15:37Speaker 1: are out there. I've never met a more resilient man
- 15:40Speaker 1: in my entire life. If there's anyone that can handle it,
- 15:42Speaker 1: it's Sam. So what better what better way to go
- 15:44Speaker 1: out on national television and take care of business against
- 15:47Speaker 1: these chiefs? So I'm hoping we see that from him.
- 15:50Speaker 1: It's going to be a tall task, though, because they're
- 15:51Speaker 1: good defensively. They're eighth in the NFL, allowing 306 yards
- 15:54Speaker 1: per game, and they're 15th in the NFL, pass yards,
- 15:57Speaker 1: allowing just 217.
- 15:58Speaker 2: So we'll see. Something's got to give, Blump. Yeah, man.
- 16:01Speaker 2: It's going to be a battle. I mean, this is
- 16:03Speaker 2: why you play the game. Play the game. Another battle. K-9.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Goodness gracious, K-9. You know, he was a former Seahawk.
- 16:10Speaker 3: He's having a great 2026 season. Excuse me. K-9, man,
- 16:17Speaker 3: having a great 2026 season. The 44th overall pick in
- 16:20Speaker 3: the 2022 draft. He's on pace to shatter all his
- 16:23Speaker 3: career highs. Walker leads the NFL in yards, yards per carry,
- 16:27Speaker 3: yards per game. Longest carry, 76. He's getting everything he
- 16:31Speaker 3: deserves and won it over there with KC.
- 16:34Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, proof's in the pudding. They're running that thing.
- 16:38Speaker 1: He's doing everything that he can, and he's performing. He's
- 16:41Speaker 1: had at least 18 carries in every game this year.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Walker only had 18 carries. or more, one time in
- 16:48Speaker 1: the regular season last year. In the playoffs, though, obviously
- 16:50Speaker 1: that's when things ticked up. It was 19-19-27. Walker is
- 16:54Speaker 1: doing everything he can to show that he's never down
- 16:56Speaker 1: back in this league. And the stats don't lie either.
- 16:58Speaker 1: He's the third player in Super Bowl era with at
- 17:00Speaker 1: least two touchdowns in four of his team's first five games,
- 17:03Speaker 1: joining Hall of Famer Emerson Boozer and Calvin Johnson. Walker
- 17:08Speaker 1: also has 760 scrimmage yards and eight scrimmage touchdowns this season.
- 17:12Speaker 1: He's the sixth player all-time with at least 750 scrimmage
- 17:14Speaker 1: yards and eight scrimmage touchdowns in his first five games
- 17:17Speaker 1: of the season with a bunch of other Hall of Famers.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Marshall Falk, Eric Dickerson, Jim Brown, and you throw in
- 17:22Speaker 1: Priest Holmes even. And here's the other thing, Bob. Here's
- 17:24Speaker 1: the number one thing for me. He has forced seven
- 17:27Speaker 1: missed tackles in week six alone, leads the NFL with
- 17:29Speaker 1: 52 missed tackles forced through this many games in week six.
- 17:35Speaker 2: He's going to be motivated. It's going to be fun.
- 17:37Speaker 1: I think the Seahawks defense is going to be motivated
- 17:39Speaker 1: because they're up for the challenge because what they do
- 17:40Speaker 1: is stop the run.
- 17:41Speaker 3: At the ranked 10th, it gets run only allowing 96
- 17:44Speaker 3: yards per game.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Let's keep reading this stat as long as we can.
- 17:48Speaker 3: The Seahawks have not allowed a 100-yard rusher for a
- 17:51Speaker 3: franchise record 32 consecutive games, 35 if you include the playoffs,
- 17:56Speaker 3: the longest streak in the NFL. Walker has four 100-yard
- 17:59Speaker 3: rushing games this season alone. As Nas says, get your
- 18:03Speaker 3: popcorn ready.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Have to, have to. So that's the one.
- 18:07Speaker 1: That's what they're going to talk about on all the
- 18:08Speaker 1: pregame shows. We're going to talk about all week. So
- 18:11Speaker 1: that's a marquee matchup. We'll see how the Seahawks defend that.
- 18:14Speaker 1: And then you have our running backs. The Seahawks run
- 18:16Speaker 1: game is not where it was to end last season.
- 18:19Speaker 1: There's no question about that. But people have forgotten how
- 18:22Speaker 1: the season started last year. There's a little bit of
- 18:25Speaker 1: revisionist history going on. Last season, through six games, the
- 18:29Speaker 1: Seahawks ran for 625 yards, averaging 104 yards per game.
- 18:34Speaker 1: That is 24th in the NFL at the time. Through
- 18:36Speaker 1: six games this season, The Seahawks have run for 643 yards,
- 18:41Speaker 1: averaging 107 yards per game, good for 18th in the NFL. Yep,
- 18:45Speaker 1: you heard what I just said. The Seahawks are actually
- 18:47Speaker 1: running the ball better this year than they were last year.
- 18:50Speaker 2: No, they're not.
- 18:51Speaker 1: I know that sounds crazy. I know it, but it's true. Yes,
- 18:55Speaker 1: there's been some fumbles. Yes, there's been less explosive plays.
- 18:58Speaker 1: But I say all that to say, not because I'm
- 19:00Speaker 1: saying there's nothing wrong with the Seahawks' run game and
- 19:02Speaker 1: it's perfect. I'm telling you guys that so you understand,
- 19:05Speaker 1: give it some context. What you saw at the end
- 19:07Speaker 1: of last year is not what we saw at the
- 19:08Speaker 1: beginning of last year. The Seahawks evolved into that. You
- 19:12Speaker 1: have a lot of the same pieces. Yes, you don't
- 19:14Speaker 1: have Ken Walker, but you also haven't had Zach Charbonnet.
- 19:16Speaker 1: You also haven't had Jadarian Price for most of this season.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Charbonnet hopefully is coming back this week. So I just
- 19:21Speaker 1: say all that to say, let's take a break. There's
- 19:25Speaker 1: a good chance the Seahawks will get that running game
- 19:27Speaker 1: back to where it was, or at least close to.
- 19:30Speaker 1: It's a work in progress sometimes. You have all these
- 19:32Speaker 1: different things out there. So I say all that to say, hey,
- 19:35Speaker 1: pump your brakes. Let's not misremember how last season went.
- 19:39Speaker 1: This Seahawks run game hopefully can get things going. Last
- 19:42Speaker 1: week they ran for 113 yards, average 4.3 yards per
- 19:44Speaker 1: carry they can be a little bit more consistent in
- 19:46Speaker 1: that things good things can happen Kansas City has six
- 19:49Speaker 1: best rush defense so we'll see what they can do there.
- 19:51Speaker 3: Yeah context is important and people have to realize sometimes
- 19:55Speaker 3: it takes a while you got to warm the car
- 19:56Speaker 3: up sometimes you know got to warm the engine up
- 19:59Speaker 3: and let it go and it's all connected right if
- 20:01Speaker 3: you can get the run game going the play is
- 20:02Speaker 3: going to be better the pass is going to be
- 20:04Speaker 3: better so yeah let's uh positive vibes towards the run
- 20:07Speaker 3: game All right, let's talk about another matchup. Travis Kelsey,
- 20:10Speaker 3: Xavier Worthy, and Rasheed Ryan. I don't think Rasheed is playing, right?
- 20:13Speaker 2: He got banged up. Travis Kelsey, 14-year vet, and he's
- 20:17Speaker 2: going to the Hall of Fame. Easy. As soon as
- 20:19Speaker 2: he retires, clock starts, he's gone.
- 20:21Speaker 3: 11-time Pro Bowler, four-time First League Mall Pro, three-time Super
- 20:24Speaker 3: Bowl champ, seven consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. He's had at least
- 20:28Speaker 3: 800 yards in every season except his rookie year when
- 20:32Speaker 3: he only played in one game. So far in 2026,
- 20:35Speaker 3: Travis has 20 receptions, 299 yards, and two touchdowns. His
- 20:39Speaker 3: 299 are sixth in the NFL amongst tight ends. He
- 20:42Speaker 3: is the Chiefs' leading receiver. He's been the Chiefs' leading
- 20:45Speaker 3: receiver for the past five seasons. And what else can
- 20:48Speaker 3: you say about Travis, man? Look, he's never been fast,
- 20:53Speaker 3: but he's definitely not fast now in his career. But
- 20:55Speaker 3: he understands route running, time, spacing. He has a great
- 20:59Speaker 3: connection with his quarterback. They ad-lib sometimes and just make
- 21:02Speaker 3: it happen.
- 21:03Speaker 2: He knows how to get open.
- 21:04Speaker 1: And he's playing really well considering everyone's, is he going
- 21:09Speaker 1: to retire the last couple years?
- 21:10Speaker 2: Is he going to retire? Is he going to retire?
- 21:11Speaker 1: And he's looking good right now. Now, in terms of
- 21:14Speaker 1: receivers in that side of the ball, they've had some issues, right?
- 21:17Speaker 1: Leading receiver, Tyquan Thornton, he dislocated his ankle in that
- 21:20Speaker 1: win over Vegas. That was pretty gross. Out the rest
- 21:23Speaker 1: of the year. And he was having a pretty good year.
- 21:25Speaker 1: 11 receptions, 219 yards, two touchdowns. Then you got Rashi Rice.
- 21:29Speaker 1: He had a lot of injuries in his career. And
- 21:31Speaker 1: now he's dealing with hamstring injuries. So, yeah, we're probably
- 21:33Speaker 1: not going to see him. 13 receptions for 190 yards.
- 21:36Speaker 1: So you ask, who is going to step up? Xavier Worthy.
- 21:38Speaker 1: He's now the number one option and receiver. Former first-round
- 21:42Speaker 1: pick from Texas hasn't necessarily lived up to expectations, but
- 21:46Speaker 1: it's his time to shine at this moment, right? 21 receptions,
- 21:49Speaker 1: 206 yards, one touchdown. 2021 was the last time a
- 21:52Speaker 1: Kansas City wide receiver led this team in receiving them,
- 21:55Speaker 1: just for context.
- 21:56Speaker 2: That was Tyreek Hill. Of course.
- 21:58Speaker 1: And they're going to have their work cut out for
- 21:59Speaker 1: them because the Seahawks team is the number one pass
- 22:01Speaker 1: defense in all the land. So it'll be interesting to
- 22:04Speaker 1: see who steps up outside of Travis Kelsey. You know, Worthy,
- 22:07Speaker 1: can he be that guy? Obviously with the run game working.
- 22:10Speaker 1: But if you can shut down the run, I am
- 22:12Speaker 1: very interested to see how the Seahawks match up against
- 22:14Speaker 1: that receiver court.
- 22:15Speaker 2: I would say advantage Seahawks. Yeah, I love our secondary, man.
- 22:17Speaker 2: I love it.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Test the young Xavier Worthy. I said this before earlier,
- 22:21Speaker 3: and I sound crazy. Make Pat Mahomes beat you. Make
- 22:24Speaker 3: him beat you. Come on, that does sound crazy. All right,
- 22:26Speaker 3: let's talk about our receivers. Got JSN, Cooper Cub, Rasheed Shahid.
- 22:30Speaker 2: All right, man. Let's do it again.
- 22:31Speaker 3: JSM, the best receiver in the game. First when it
- 22:34Speaker 3: comes to yards, talking about this year. First in receiving touchdowns.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Longest reception. Receiving yards per game. Yards per touch. And
- 22:42Speaker 3: he's fourth when it comes to yards from scrimmage with
- 22:46Speaker 3: 733 so far this year. 49 receptions. 717 yards. Seven
- 22:50Speaker 3: touchdowns last week. He had 12 for 134. Looked like
- 22:54Speaker 3: he was favoring his ankle a little bit, but he just.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Toughed it out, man.
- 22:59Speaker 3: The first half, he had like 20 yards or something
- 23:01Speaker 3: like that. Most of his money came in the second half,
- 23:04Speaker 3: so you can never count this dude out.
- 23:06Speaker 2: No question. There's not enough ways to say how good
- 23:09Speaker 2: Jason is.
- 23:10Speaker 1: And the way he puts his team on his back,
- 23:12Speaker 1: he is honestly, he's the only person on offense you
- 23:15Speaker 1: can say, yeah, everything you're doing, you're good.
- 23:19Speaker 2: No one needs to talk about 11.
- 23:20Speaker 1: And the rest, and listen too, like Cooper Cupp, Rasheed Shaheed,
- 23:24Speaker 1: I think more is coming from them.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Cupp, 16 receptions, 179, one touchdown.
- 23:28Speaker 1: He became a 97th player in NFL history to reach
- 23:31Speaker 1: 8,500 career passing yards, receiving yards.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Excuse me. Rashid Shaheed coming off the best game. Come
- 23:37Speaker 2: on now. As a pass catcher against the Broncos, right?
- 23:39Speaker 2: Come on now.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Five receptions, 66 yards, had a long of 42. So
- 23:43Speaker 1: far in the year, he's got four carries for 39
- 23:45Speaker 1: yards in the touchdown, 14 receptions for 162 yards. I
- 23:50Speaker 1: just feel like this is the last piece bump.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Yeah. If, Rashid Shahid.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Can truly become a factor on this offense and stretch
- 23:58Speaker 1: the field and really be a threat. People cannot defend
- 24:01Speaker 1: this team the way they want to and the way
- 24:03Speaker 1: they're currently doing it. So it was good to kind
- 24:06Speaker 1: of see almost like a breadcrumb for Shahid of like, okay,
- 24:09Speaker 1: we're getting there. So I'm hoping that can continue. The
- 24:11Speaker 1: Chiefs are middle of the pack, 15th in the NFL
- 24:13Speaker 1: against the past, 217 yards per game.
- 24:16Speaker 2: So it should be interesting. It should be. Let's go
- 24:21Speaker 2: get them.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Feed 11. And everyone else contributed like last week. Cup
- 24:26Speaker 3: had about 50. Rasheed had about 60. I like those numbers.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Absolutely. And we'll tell you how the Seahawks are going
- 24:32Speaker 2: to get this victory and path to victory. At the 45,
- 24:35Speaker 2: waits for the snap. Michael Dixon puts it down. That
- 24:39Speaker 2: kick is away. And that kick is good! The Seahawks win!
- 24:44Speaker 1: It's good!
- 24:45Speaker 3: It's a path to victory on Hawk Talk.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Sunday Night Football. All the lights are on. The nation
- 24:50Speaker 1: will be watching. Seahawks taking on the Kansas City Chiefs team.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Big week. We know that. And above all else, there's
- 24:59Speaker 2: one thing the Seahawks need to do. They need to
- 25:01Speaker 2: take care of the football. Cherish it.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Everything after that, everything goes good, man. And it's everybody.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Offensive line, it plays a role. Sam Darnold plays a role.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Running backs play a role. Receivers, everybody. Turnovers are the
- 25:13Speaker 1: reason this team is 3-3. If you didn't have it,
- 25:15Speaker 1: there easily could be 6-0. The Seahawks are 15-0 under
- 25:19Speaker 1: Mike McDonald when they win the turnover battle.
- 25:21Speaker 2: That's pretty good. 15-0. You take care of the football game.
- 25:24Speaker 2: You will win this game.
- 25:26Speaker 3: Sam, play free. Relax your mind. Push the football down
- 25:30Speaker 3: the field. You'll be all right, especially if you find
- 25:33Speaker 3: number 11 about 10, 11 times, okay? Because it's working.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Off is the line. You need to protect a bit.
- 25:38Speaker 3: And Sam, just be good under pressure. He's pressured 31%
- 25:44Speaker 3: of the time in dropbacks, the most in the league
- 25:46Speaker 3: right now. And O-line's got to help out. And he
- 25:50Speaker 3: needs to be smart with the ball, too. Get the
- 25:51Speaker 3: football out of your hands. And get after Mahomes, man.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Be smart, good angles. He is so elusive, and he's
- 25:57Speaker 3: not fast. You know, him and Brock Purdy might be
- 26:01Speaker 3: the two most elusive, not fast quarterbacks I've seen in
- 26:03Speaker 3: this league. So he had some practice last week with Purdy.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Let's get after him this week. And then K-9's having
- 26:08Speaker 3: a great year. You got to get your paws on him.
- 26:10Speaker 3: Got to get him down. Got to have gap integrity.
- 26:13Speaker 3: Because if he gets to that second level, it's going
- 26:15Speaker 3: to be trouble.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a home run hitter.
- 26:17Speaker 1: And he's proven that over all the years in Seattle.
- 26:19Speaker 1: You got to be sound. That's all 11 hats. Get
- 26:22Speaker 1: into the football and make them plays there. And don't
- 26:24Speaker 1: let Travis Kelsey go off. Keep these receivers in front
- 26:27Speaker 1: of you. You win that matchup. You have better players
- 26:29Speaker 1: in your secondary than they have to offer. If you
- 26:31Speaker 1: stop K-9, keep receivers in front of you. This Seahawks
- 26:34Speaker 1: team can get this done. They can keep pace with
- 26:36Speaker 1: the 49ers because things are getting to stack up. I
- 26:40Speaker 1: don't think I'll say it right now on October 22nd.
- 26:43Speaker 1: I don't think the division is completely out of reach.
- 26:45Speaker 2: I don't. But it starts when you start winning some games.
- 26:48Speaker 2: That's going to start on Sunday. Keep pace. Win this week.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Change the narrative. Figure it out.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Seahawks taking on the Chiefs. Pre-game show will start at
- 26:58Speaker 1: 2 p.m.
- 26:58Speaker 2: Here are all the guys.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus, Paul Moore, Ray Roberts, and Brian Walters. Listen,
- 27:04Speaker 1: go get it done, Seahawks. Go get it done. He's
- 27:06Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. I'm Nassar Chobey. This has been Hawk Talk.
