- 0:49SPEAKER_00: This is your host, Ekta.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: I have such a wonderful brand.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: You guys know how big of a mask, you know, addict I am.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: That's my favorite skincare um product, like the type of product that I enjoy.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: So this brand is actually very special to my heart because I love everything about masking.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: So without further ado, I want to introduce you guys to the founder of Mask Teeny, Olga Parno.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the show, Olga.
- 1:15SPEAKER_04: Hello, Dr.
- 1:16SPEAKER_04: Acta.
- 1:17SPEAKER_04: Hello, everyone, and thank you for having me.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's wonderful to host you.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: I'm really excited to dive right in.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Like I said, I'm a huge uh fan of all things that have to do with uh facial masks.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: So I'm really excited to learn about your um your work and your vision.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: So if you could get us started, Olga, um just talking about yourself and um your background and what led to the creation of Mask Tini.
- 1:43SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 1:44SPEAKER_03: So it's interesting that you mentioned masks because I always felt that masks were such wonderful targeted solutions, right?
- 1:52SPEAKER_03: They just target a specific concern, they get you back on track, and then you can do the rest of the skincare.
- 1:58SPEAKER_03: And that's actually, I come from investment banking backgrounds.
- 2:03SPEAKER_03: And back in the days, it was living in New York City, working for an investment bank as analyst, and um I basically traveled with companies like L'Oreal and PPR and uh Burberry, and my favorite meetings were with L'Oreal.
- 2:20SPEAKER_03: Um, I was definitely hooked on skincare.
- 2:24SPEAKER_03: Um, I had a lot of problems myself in terms of my skin, just working 13-hour days, constantly traveling, and not really finding their skincare line that would be streamlined, focused, easy to use, easy to use on the go.
- 2:42SPEAKER_03: And so that's kind of when I started thinking about creating one.
- 2:46SPEAKER_03: And I remember we were just having like Friday drinks with my girlfriends, and um, we were all using masks at that point, and it was like 2009, uh, when we would travel, a mask would be something that you get off the plane, you go to the hotel, you make sure that you're ready for that meeting because everybody expects you to look like you're you just slept eight hours, right?
- 3:13SPEAKER_03: And masks were uh those just like wonderful solutions.
- 3:17SPEAKER_03: So uh we were having martinis, and and that's kind of how the idea of mask zini launched.
- 3:24SPEAKER_03: I wanted to start with masks um and wanted to have a product that would be spa-like and give that spa-like feeling, but also um treat skin on a deeper level.
- 3:35SPEAKER_03: So that's how maskini was born nine years after.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: That's amazing.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: I love that, and I completely agree with you.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: You know, um, Olga, I always say, like, people ask me, they're like, you know, well, Ecta, you know, masks are kind of going out of style, or you know, they I'll see companies don't have like a lot of masks in their range, or you know, whatever it might be.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: And I always get very frustrated because I'm like, you're taking one of the best um, you know, product categories and skincare out of your line if you do that.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: Because honestly, it's what you said, it's a targeted treatment.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: I mean, you know, every time I do a mask, whether it's like a um, what do you call it, exfoliating mask with uh, you know, acid treatments in it, or if it's something like your wonderful um detox mask, uh, you know, it's always an experience that leaves my skin refreshed, you know, and rejuvenated.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: It's almost like you have reset the canvas, you know, every time you're doing a mask.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: And so I really, really enjoy that aspect.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: And I think that it's actually more like if you look at it from a science perspective, it's actually more in sync with the idea of like, you know, exposing your uppermost layer of cells to these wonderful ingredients that are there to help them look more plump, rejuvenated, you know what I mean, more alive basically, since they are dead.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: Um, and you know, it's it's it's a great way to kind of approach getting that beautiful, you know, uh skin effect that you're looking for on the go.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: So I I'm a huge fan, you know.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: I I love everything masking, and I love your range because you have such uh wonderful and versatile uh products in your range.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: And I I actually want to talk to you about that.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: What was the um thought process for you when you were really kind of creating um what kind of mask that you wanted to focus on first from the line?
- 5:26SPEAKER_03: Um, well, we wanted to um we definitely didn't want to come up with another jar, okay?
- 5:34SPEAKER_03: What and another clay mask because um it's just so cliche.
- 5:38SPEAKER_03: I don't think that they work properly.
- 5:41SPEAKER_03: I don't think that they work for Asian skin.
- 5:44SPEAKER_03: Um, and um I think there's definitely so many innovations in the mask market, and uh that's why we wanted to bring airless containers because of the ingredients um that we put in, it's very very important for them to be um in airless containers because you you very well know things like vitamin C, whether it's BVO is C form, it doesn't really matter which form.
- 6:14SPEAKER_03: The minute some of the ingredients, you know, get in contact with oxygen, with air, it's just almost like it's a different formula.
- 6:22SPEAKER_03: Um, and you don't really get the same effect.
- 6:26SPEAKER_03: So the only uh product that actually in our whole line right now, we have 10 products um um that are going to be available on the market uh starting spring.
- 6:36SPEAKER_03: So we have six now.
- 6:37SPEAKER_03: We have four masks, one eye cream, and a face cream, and we have three boosters and a body sculpt coming up that's already in the pipeline.
- 6:47SPEAKER_03: But we wanted them to be different.
- 6:49SPEAKER_03: So we wanted them to be multitasking.
- 6:52SPEAKER_03: The only mask in a jar that we have is your favorite gone girl detox mask, just because there's no water in the formula whatsoever.
- 7:00SPEAKER_03: So it can actually sit in that jar.
- 7:04SPEAKER_03: Um, but everything else, um, our Night Ranger, for example, overnight renewal mask, uh, contains so many ingredients like hyaluronic acid, retinol, papaya pineapple enzymes, um, lime pearl, which is the exfoliating acid from Australian finger lime.
- 7:20SPEAKER_03: So um, and it has this like gel form.
- 7:24SPEAKER_03: Um, have you tried it?
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: No, I love that one.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 7:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's on so many accolades for overnight renewal masks because usually renewal masks are you know sticky, you cannot go to bed after that.
- 7:42SPEAKER_03: You're walking around for hours trying, you know, like to to to to and waiting for this mask to get absorbed.
- 7:48SPEAKER_03: And Night Ranger is such a light formula, it literally like drips through, like it just gets through your pores, works on the deeper level, and um, I think it's wonderful.
- 7:58SPEAKER_03: Like, if you had no time and you wanted one product, it does it all.
- 8:02SPEAKER_03: Um, it won Vogue's best retinol serum.
- 8:05SPEAKER_03: Um, I think it was an Oprah also as an overnight renewal mask, one of the tops.
- 8:10SPEAKER_03: So it's just a great formula.
- 8:11SPEAKER_03: Then we also have the gold brightening mask, which um contains the ingredients called Renady, right?
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: I love that one.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, that gold mask, Olga.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: I swear to you, that mask is like my savior.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: Like I use it before I do my makeup.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: Like if I have somewhere to go, if I need to look really, really top flight, you know what I mean?
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: Like just look really natural but radiant and just, you know, whatever that might that look might be for me, because I'm not a very big like glam girl kind of person, but like what I do focus on when I'm doing my makeup is like, you know, I want my canvas, my face to be as well prepped as possible, right?
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: And this mask for everyone listening, and you know, I didn't mean to interrupt you, okay.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: Just I got so excited because this mask, it literally makes your skin glow.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: Like you will put it on and I leave it mine on for like 20 minutes or whatever I'm doing, like if I'm doing my hair, and then you take it off, and then you just need a little bit of makeup, and you will look so good.
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: I I don't know what magic you created with that one, but I really, really love that one as well.
- 9:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 9:20SPEAKER_03: Um, I love that one too, and I think a lot of the times um I feel like this is the the most not understood mask because um because it does have uh mica, which gives you that glow, right?
- 9:36SPEAKER_03: That's your natural um, you know, rock formation that you can find in makeup and you know powders and eyeshadows, but that's what gives it like that golden look.
- 9:47SPEAKER_03: But the ingredients um that are really working um on rebuilding your lipid barrier are amazing.
- 9:55SPEAKER_03: We have the BPS complex with like lentil, sunflower uh oils, um then we have granadies, which is like this very powerful pomegranate stem cell extract that actually suppresses melanine production.
- 10:10SPEAKER_03: And these are all clinically proven ingredients.
- 10:13SPEAKER_03: Um, we have BVOC there, um, which is a stable form of vitamin C.
- 10:19SPEAKER_03: So all of these ingredients are um are working while the mask is on, and I think it's a great mask for also uh people who are suffering from just like dull dehydrated skin.
- 10:32SPEAKER_03: Um, and it's a great pre-party, or like if you just want to have a day with like no makeup but kind of like glow, I think it's a great mask to have.
- 10:42SPEAKER_03: I love it personally.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: No, I 100% agree with you.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: And I think, you know, one thing I really, really love about the line is that there's no like, I mean, obviously all the products are great, but like there's no unnecessary overlap between your products.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: Like it's like everything is serving a purpose, everything is working um for specific needs, you know, whenever you're using it throughout the day.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: Like you mentioned, the overnight mask is so perfect if you are like for like me, for example.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: You know, I sometimes I get home and I'm so tired from the hospital, you know, and I don't have time to go through my normal skincare routine.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: So if you are one of those people you just wash your face, pop on the mask, and you wake up and your skin is as if you did your whole skincare routine the night before, you know, it's it's a wonderful, wonderful option for um just that busy lifestyle.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: And just people who, you know, a lot of times we don't have time.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: You know, if you take off your makeup, you're, you know, so it can be dreadful sometimes to think, oh gosh, not have to apply like 15 serums and you know what I mean, whatever your routine is.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: It doesn't have to be that.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: But my point is like it can feel daunting sometimes.
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: So this is where products um such as the overnight mask um in your collection are so crucial, I feel like, you know, for everyday skincare consumers.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: I mean, you need products in your collection that are gonna just be tried and true that you can go to, you know, immediately.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: And also the packaging is another thing I really want to talk to you about because I love that you've made everything so travel friendly.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: Like it's just so easy to pop into like a makeup bag or you know what I mean, if you're on the go, it's it's wonderful.
- 12:16SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 12:16SPEAKER_03: And that was the idea because I was traveling so much, and so my girlfriends were traveling, my friends were traveling.
- 12:22SPEAKER_03: So um, like when you talk, for example, about the other mask, which is uh Wog Bay, which is our uh moisture spritz that has like those great great ingredients like breastderm and aqua cell.
- 12:34SPEAKER_03: Um, these like brassderm is marine isomers that we bring from um breast in Brittany, and um they're a lot more powerful than even hyaluronic acid.
- 12:44SPEAKER_03: There's like a lot of research going on around how much hydration they actually bring to your skin.
- 12:50SPEAKER_03: So that particular mask, you can just like throw it in your purse.
- 12:53SPEAKER_03: Like it's in my gym bag at all times, it's in my purse.
- 12:57SPEAKER_03: And um, you can spritz it um on your um just like decollet area, neck, you can gently apply it.
- 13:04SPEAKER_03: It's a great, you know, it can be mixed with your foundation for a more of a dewy look.
- 13:09SPEAKER_03: It's a lighter moisturizer.
- 13:11SPEAKER_03: So when we were thinking about the mask concepts, it was very important for me to have a detox, right?
- 13:17SPEAKER_03: That, like you mentioned, creates a blank, like a good canvas.
- 13:21SPEAKER_03: It exfoliates, detoxes, right?
- 13:23SPEAKER_03: It creates that canvas to receive other ingredients.
- 13:26SPEAKER_03: Then you have a brightening mask.
- 13:27SPEAKER_03: You have to have a brightening mask that rebuilds also the lipid barrier, brightens.
- 13:32SPEAKER_03: So we have metal heads, and then we have uh woke, which is like our um hydrating spritz.
- 13:40SPEAKER_03: Um, it kind of builds that film that seals the hydration, gives you that eight hour hydration.
- 13:45SPEAKER_03: And do we look like that donut, glossy donut look that a lot of I think um girls like?
- 13:53SPEAKER_03: And I think it also makes you look very um, it makes you look younger, it just makes you look um alive, rested.
- 14:00SPEAKER_03: Um and we have an overnight renewal mask, which I think is such a wonderful step.
- 14:07SPEAKER_03: Um, it's easy.
- 14:09SPEAKER_03: Um, and if you don't have much time, it's it's it's just so convenient.
- 14:13SPEAKER_03: And I think there's a big misconception, I think, when especially when we look at um beauty influences and we look at their cabinets that they show on Instagram with a ton, a ton of products.
- 14:25SPEAKER_03: Dr.
- 14:25SPEAKER_03: Acton, that's not the reality.
- 14:27SPEAKER_03: That's not what you and I have, that's not what you and I use, that's not what real life is, right?
- 14:34SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 14:36SPEAKER_03: And um, and I think that there's you know, probably 10 or 12 products that I go back to.
- 14:44SPEAKER_03: And um, that's why we came up with um the face cream and the eye cream, because these are obviously products that are necessary, right?
- 14:53SPEAKER_03: So I made sure that they're packed with ingredients, and I believe there should be only one eye cream.
- 14:59SPEAKER_03: There's no need for two, there's no need for morning or like or night cream.
- 15:04SPEAKER_03: Um, it's just marketing.
- 15:06SPEAKER_03: If you can put all the ingredients in one bottle, yes, it is more expensive.
- 15:11SPEAKER_03: Um, it's a lot more active, but is it better for the consumer?
- 15:15SPEAKER_03: And I always think about my clients, it's better for my clients, right?
- 15:20SPEAKER_03: Um and then uh to have one face cream, there shouldn't be, you know, like uh a face cream for the morning and the face cream for the night.
- 15:29SPEAKER_03: Again, um, if you can come up with one face cream that's gonna be rich, that's gonna be built, you know, uh packed with peptides uh and actives, um, vitamin complexes, put it all in one.
- 15:41SPEAKER_03: Yes, again, it's more expensive for us as a manufacturer, but it is so much easier, easier for the consumer.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: Um well, that's what I really see.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: Here's the thing though, Olga, and I really like that you brought that up because my problem with a lot of brands is obviously that point that you made, which was truly brilliant, which is you know, these giant amounts of products that we see on the back uh drop of so many influencers, right?
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: Like, I mean, that's not reality.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: Let's that it's just not reality, unless you're like a hoarder and you're collecting products, you know what I mean?
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: Like, that's just not how normal people are.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: And also that homework part, like as a brand, I I fully believe that brands that are genuine, they will do that homework for their consumers.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: They will keep their consumers in mind, just like you mentioned, you know, with your process.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: Like that is something that I think if you are a founder who's creating something unique, you're filling a white space, you're doing the thing that nobody's really done before.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: These are questions that you automatically gravitate towards and you want to answer for your consumers so that you take the guesswork out for people, right?
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: Because a lot of times, you know, that connection between a consumer and a brand is like within, you know, two, three seconds, you'll know, you know, because it's like it's either the packaging, it's either the ingredient list, it's either the feel and texture of a product, but something's got to grab their attention immediately, you know.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: And so for me, I can honestly tell you as a consumer, when I first tried masking uh the products, I mean, obviously I am a mask lover, but for me, it was just the ease of use, you know, it's it's so easy to use, it's quality products, it's things that I want on my skin in terms of ingredients.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, it was just like the full, you know, package.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: And I think that's what we really need to kind of as a as an industry push people to create rather than creating these like single, you know, oh, by the way, this is just marula oil, oh, this is just rose hip oil, or just this is just an acid.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: You know, no, we don't need any more of that.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: We need things that are really well thought out formulas that are, you know, well um constructed from the chemistry standpoint as well.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: And they're they're serving multiple purposes, you know what I mean?
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: They're they're targeting your hyperpigmentation, they're targeting the texture, hydration, all of that stuff.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: And and that's where, you know, I really feel like mastini for me, it really stands out, you know, and and it really actually lives up to what I consider as a consumer to be what a good face mask is all about, you know?
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: So I I feel you.
- 18:18SPEAKER_03: Well, thank you.
- 18:19SPEAKER_03: I I appreciate you saying that.
- 18:21SPEAKER_03: Um, I do believe that skincare is very personal.
- 18:24SPEAKER_03: Um, and that's why as a consumer myself, I don't come from a skincare industry.
- 18:31SPEAKER_03: I I kind of grew into it, right?
- 18:35SPEAKER_03: Uh over time and made conditions and um and learned the business.
- 18:40SPEAKER_03: But um I think it's very, very personal.
- 18:43SPEAKER_03: I think you have to love the packaging, you have to love the concept, you have to relate to the concepts, and um you have to love the formulas, right?
- 18:52SPEAKER_03: Um and and so all of that has to be in line with with your values.
- 18:57SPEAKER_03: And for us, it was very important to not think of skincare as a routine, to be quite honest with you.
- 19:05SPEAKER_03: Um, I always wanted to have um a spa sort of like um experience to the line.
- 19:14SPEAKER_03: That's why we do have um essence of essential oil.
- 19:18SPEAKER_03: It's actually a blend of citrus and a little bit of vanilla undertone at only 0.0 to 5%, um, just to hide some of the ingredients that you know don't smell so great.
- 19:29SPEAKER_03: Um, and I think if you pay money uh for a product, you just want to have an experience that's pleasurable.
- 19:36SPEAKER_03: Um, and again, some of the actives are not that great in terms of smell, and then you don't want to go to bed and have your boiling said, What did you just put on your skin?
- 19:47SPEAKER_03: You smell horrible.
- 19:49SPEAKER_03: Um, but honey cost$500, right?
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: No, you know what's funny is that you bring this up, but there was a product I was trying the other night, and it was like um, it was like kind of like a mask, more of a peel.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: I swear to you, it smelled straight like rotten fish.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: And I was like, well, they missed the part in the formula where you have to mask the smell of the product because chemistry, you know, it doesn't discriminate when it comes to scents.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: So you really have to um adjust that part a little bit.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: But I mean, your your products are so good.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: I mean, I really, really love, you know, just everything.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: You know, like I said, the packaging is appealing to me, you know, as a consumer, the feel of the products, even the eye cream we were talking earlier.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: Like for me, I don't know about um you, but like for I really look for like a rich texture in my eye creams because I don't know, it just makes me feel like you're doing something, you know, instead of those like gel formulas, I don't like those at all.
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: So when I tried your eye cream, I remember for the first time I was like, oh, this is so luxe.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: Like I feel like this is so um hydrating and it's just made my eyes feel like I was putting a quality product on them.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: And that is truly half the battle with good skincare, you know, finding good skincare is it are you gonna like the texture?
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: Are you gonna like the feel and even the after, you know, effect and the feel later on it throughout your day, right?
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: So that's very, very important.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: It's hard to and it's hard to achieve as founders.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: So um I want to actually ask you, you know, because you do have such great ingredients um in all of your products, how has that been for you in terms of, you know, being an entrepreneur and making sure that the labs you're working with are delivering everything that you want?
- 21:27SPEAKER_00: What was that whole process like?
- 21:30SPEAKER_03: Um, well, I think that's that's a very important process in the whole chain uh because I always feel that the product has to be solid, the product has to be good.
- 21:43SPEAKER_03: Um, and um, I personally have to love it and usually go through uh quite a few tries um just to make sure that everything sort of aligns, right?
- 21:54SPEAKER_03: So it's it's it's the texture and how it feels after and how it mixes with the rest of the line.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: How it mixes maybe with makeup.
- 22:01SPEAKER_03: Like, for example, if you mention eye cream, if it's only one eye cream, we want to make sure that you can apply it in the morning, right?
- 22:08SPEAKER_03: And it mixes with your say under eye concealer and your mascara, but it's also rich enough to use at night.
- 22:16SPEAKER_03: So we usually go through, say, you know, sometimes 10 to 13 um what do you call it?
- 22:26SPEAKER_03: So we get the formula, right?
- 22:28SPEAKER_03: But um we usually have uh meetings with ingredients and pliers.
- 22:33SPEAKER_03: That's how we start.
- 22:34SPEAKER_03: We start with uh what's new in the market.
- 22:37SPEAKER_03: Usually we look at Europe.
- 22:39SPEAKER_03: Europe is always ahead of us in terms of just their regulations.
- 22:43SPEAKER_03: You know, we still use hydroquinone, it's been abolished there how many years ago.
- 22:47SPEAKER_03: Um, so I feel like they're a lot more uh responsible and advanced, and we always look for uh technologies from over to overseas and ingredients that are sort of up and coming, not yet known here or not yet so marketed here.
- 23:01SPEAKER_03: And that's like the first step.
- 23:03SPEAKER_03: And then we uh we have a meeting with uh a chemist and we say, well, how do we conceptualize how do we put it in our concept and in a particular product?
- 23:13SPEAKER_03: And that's that's sort of the the process, and then we start mixing and trying, and then we usually have we send out samples to some of the people that we want to get opinion from.
- 23:25SPEAKER_03: Um that's usually you know, 30 plus people, and and finally the formula is approved.
- 23:30SPEAKER_03: So that's pretty much the process.
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: I really love that, and I like that you're so open to trying new technologies.
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: I think you know, a lot of founders get so comfortable in what they've created that they don't really push their own limits, you know, sometimes.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: And and that really is the name of the game here, you know, with the beauty industry um being such a fast-paced world and skincare now becoming such a huge component of beauty, you have to stay on top of technologies, you have to stay on top of the research and the things that are really coming out that are um worth uh the money, right?
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: The consumers are paying.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: And that's another thing is like price points.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: Um, when you were designing your products, you know, what were what was something that you had to really account for when it came to your price points?
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: I mean, when what was the demographic you were really targeting and what was the whole process and and business mindset that you had um for making everything so accessible?
- 24:27SPEAKER_03: Um well, the the most important thing for me was to uh, like I said, to make it inclusive.
- 24:36SPEAKER_03: So it is a prestige brand.
- 24:38SPEAKER_03: Um, and I cannot say that our prices are low.
- 24:42SPEAKER_03: They're not.
- 24:42SPEAKER_03: If you go to mascadine.com and take a look, our most expensive item is$120, which is our hush money intensive restorative crown.
- 24:51SPEAKER_03: But I do think that based on the ingredients that are put being put into the into this product, um, it's really a steal for the money.
- 25:03SPEAKER_03: And uh when you mentioned that skincare industry is is growing so fast, I also think that the consumer is so much more educated.
- 25:14SPEAKER_03: Um, and it's it would be very um sort of silly to um to overlook that because the truth is consumers, especially Gen Z, um they are researching, they're doing their research, they're um very much into active ingredients, very much into anti aging and sort of looking for products that will you know prevent and put them on the right path, right?
- 25:40SPEAKER_03: From the get-go.
- 25:42SPEAKER_03: Um we're looking for those smart formulas.
- 25:45SPEAKER_03: So I think um I think our goal is to be a step ahead and to deliver the best at the price that is still affordable, so that it becomes affordable luxury.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 25:59SPEAKER_00: No, I love that.
- 26:00SPEAKER_00: And I think that it's definitely um well worth it.
- 26:03SPEAKER_00: You know, I think it's more about finding the products that resonate with you.
- 26:06SPEAKER_00: Um I go on to TikTok a lot of times and I see a lot of people are are really investing in these dupes, you know, as they call them.
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: And and I get very upset about that because I think that after interviewing, you know, so many brands, I've realized that there is something to be said about quality over quantity, definitely.
- 26:26SPEAKER_00: Um, I think that there are a lot of quote dupes out there that are, they might look like they are giving you the same kind of product or they're giving you the same, you know, the exact same formula.
- 26:38SPEAKER_00: But in reality, either they're they're packaging it to where it's a significantly less amount of product, or they're not really, you know, copying the formula to the T.
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: It's definitely different.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: So there's a lot of risk out there, you know, for then this for everyone listening, that when you're shopping, you shouldn't always be like, oh, well, what's the cheapest product I can buy that seems like a dupe for this?
- 27:01SPEAKER_00: No, invest in yourself.
- 27:03SPEAKER_00: You know, I really believe in that.
- 27:05SPEAKER_00: I think if you're a person like me, you enjoy masks, and you know, you want a company that is doing that correctly and doing that to the best of their abilities, find that company.
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 27:16SPEAKER_00: Find if you like serums, find that best company for your serums.
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: Don't just go looking for, oh, XYZ TikToker said, I like this, so I'm gonna go buy the same thing.
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: No, it has to be individual and it has to be personalized when you approach your skin health.
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: So from that perspective, I think that when it comes to price points, there's a lot that can be said there because, you know, if you're gonna invest in a company that's not cutting corners, they're doing their homework, you know, Olga, you had mentioned like, you know, the EU standards, those kinds of things.
- 27:46SPEAKER_00: I mean, that requires a lot of money on the uh part of the brand to create that for you.
- 27:51SPEAKER_00: So when you're investing in brands, you're voting to keep those founders, you know, at the forefront.
- 27:57SPEAKER_00: That's really what you're voting for because they're actually doing it right.
- 28:01SPEAKER_00: So I really encourage our listeners and anyone that you, you know, tunes into our podcast that, you know, it's not about um buying as many products as you want.
- 28:10SPEAKER_00: It's about finding what's good for you and then just investing in it and sticking to it.
- 28:15SPEAKER_00: So I, you know, it's okay.
- 28:17SPEAKER_00: I mean, yeah, your cream is expensive, but I've tried the cream, you know, the the hush money um moisturizer that you mentioned, it's phenomenal.
- 28:24SPEAKER_00: It's wonderful.
- 28:25SPEAKER_00: I can see why you charge$120 for it, you know?
- 28:28SPEAKER_00: So I really just I think it's about quality.
- 28:31SPEAKER_00: You have to find the quality.
- 28:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I agree with you.
- 28:34SPEAKER_03: Um on the quantity worth versus uh quality.
- 28:39SPEAKER_03: And that's why, you know, that's why we have 10 products.
- 28:42SPEAKER_03: I'm actually working currently on the cleanser to introduce the line as well, hopefully by the end of the year, and that will round up.
- 28:50SPEAKER_03: But I think there should be um there's there there are categories, right?
- 28:54SPEAKER_03: You want to have your spotlight experience and quick fixes with masks, then you want to have your basic creams, right?
- 29:02SPEAKER_03: Like you want to address the eye area, the face area, and the body, right?
- 29:05SPEAKER_03: You want to address the body with a good sculpting product that will exfoliate, tone, et cetera.
- 29:11SPEAKER_03: Um, and then you want to have your serums.
- 29:13SPEAKER_03: Serums go to work um on sort of like this deeper, more active level.
- 29:19SPEAKER_03: They're lightweight, and that's why um we came out with again, just what you need, not not more, not less.
- 29:27SPEAKER_03: We came out with exfoliating serum uh with uh glycolic lactic, um, and I believe mandalic, it's uh 10% uh and a lower pH.
- 29:37SPEAKER_03: We have uh vitamin C serum, and which actually is something that you mentioned.
- 29:42SPEAKER_03: Um we don't just put vitamin C in there, we put 23% uh vitamin C.
- 29:48SPEAKER_03: Um, we put niacinamide and hyaluronic acid in that one formula.
- 29:52SPEAKER_03: So this is our brightening booster.
- 29:55SPEAKER_03: And I think by giving that to the consumer, you're not just giving them vitamin C, you're giving them a whole treatment and a whole booster to their skincare ritual.
- 30:05SPEAKER_03: And then we also have um our uh Zen booster, uh, which is called Wo Zen.
- 30:11SPEAKER_03: It's on the website right now that you can you can see all the ingredients.
- 30:15SPEAKER_03: But the idea there is to calm your skin, to balance the pH of the skin, to you know, to prevent irritations from, you know, like your laptops, your phones, uh, the environment.
- 30:28SPEAKER_03: I think it's just like a very great hydrating, calming booster that you can add to your cream, uh to Hashmani, you can add it to Wokbei, you can use it on a standalone basis.
- 30:38SPEAKER_03: So we let the consumer decide what they want.
- 30:42SPEAKER_03: And you made a very good point.
- 30:44SPEAKER_03: It's not about what your girlfriend, your boyfriend, the influencer on TikTok is using, it's about your skin and what your skin needs at a particular moment because your skin might feel very different tomorrow.
- 30:56SPEAKER_03: And you should have the products that are available to you to address how your skin feels today and tomorrow.
- 31:05SPEAKER_00: Yes, I 1000% agree with you.
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: And also, you know, just to add to your point, I think especially now with all the you know brands coming out, you know how I don't know if you've seen it, Liga, like all the um makeup brands are now like, oh yeah, we're skincare too, you know, like right.
- 31:26SPEAKER_00: And I'm just sitting here like, um, or you could just stay in your lane and stay makeup based.
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: Like, I mean, it's great.
- 31:32SPEAKER_00: I I don't get me wrong, but when it comes to my skincare, I'm very picky, you know, and I don't know how many of you listening out there are like me, but if I'm gonna do skincare, I'm gonna do skincare, and then I'm gonna put my makeup on top of it.
- 31:44SPEAKER_00: And that's another thing I really wanted to like highlight about mascotini was that this is my go-to line for when I am, you know, I mentioned the the gold um infused mask, but even like, you know, the hush money uh moisturizer, it's such a nice, rich texture that you don't need a lot of it.
- 32:03SPEAKER_00: So when you're putting it on your skin and then you put primer even on top, which you don't even really need to do, it makes your skin so soft, like it just feels like butter.
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: And so anything that you apply on top is going to go on so much smoother, so much nicer.
- 32:19SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's like, you know, it there's a place for everything.
- 32:23SPEAKER_00: And I think that when it comes to skincare, I mean, you guys, you have to invest in the good stuff.
- 32:27SPEAKER_00: I mean, I can't say it enough times.
- 32:29SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 32:30SPEAKER_00: I'm just I'm trying to give everyone ways to utilize, you know, good products.
- 32:35SPEAKER_00: Like you shouldn't be instead of buying that$120 foundation that is claiming that it's got hyaluronic and these basic ingredients in it, you need to go buy a real skincare line and use that as your base for your makeup because that's gonna make your makeup not only look better, but it's gonna last longer.
- 32:51SPEAKER_00: It's going to not damage your skin, which is a huge thing that we never talk about.
- 32:56SPEAKER_00: Um, and it's also going to, you know, just be just more compatible with you in in general, your face, your physiology.
- 33:03SPEAKER_00: So I I'm a huge, you know, I I'm a huge believer in what's um, you know, if someone's got a niche that they're working in um as a brand, you need to really kind of invest in that and really um trust them, right?
- 33:14SPEAKER_00: And instead of just saying that, oh, this is my favorite makeup brand.
- 33:18SPEAKER_00: Oh, they put skincare in it.
- 33:19SPEAKER_00: I'm just gonna hop on that wagon.
- 33:20SPEAKER_00: Don't do that.
- 33:21SPEAKER_00: Just don't do that.
- 33:24SPEAKER_04: Well, I think there are you made a very good point.
- 33:26SPEAKER_04: I mean, there um there are all these hyped categories, right?
- 33:30SPEAKER_03: So you can um, as a brand, you know, there's certain brands that just jumped onto like the next hype category or the next trending word on Google.
- 33:41SPEAKER_03: It's almost like because skincare is so much driven by the data that we have, right?
- 33:46SPEAKER_03: Let's be realistic.
- 33:47SPEAKER_03: So there are brands that just like literally do that.
- 33:51SPEAKER_03: Uh, we are not that kind of brand, we are very much a skin-malistic brand.
- 33:57SPEAKER_03: Um, just good quality products, what you need, not more, not less.
- 34:03SPEAKER_03: And I always feel that um like a good product will last regardless of the trans.
- 34:12SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 34:12SPEAKER_00: No, it will.
- 34:13SPEAKER_00: It absolutely will.
- 34:14SPEAKER_00: And that's why, you know, um, I'll have to show you yoga, but I have this little um area, you know, in one of my rooms where I like keep all of the skincare I actually use.
- 34:25SPEAKER_00: And it's just this tiny little, you know what I mean, like just little corner.
- 34:29SPEAKER_00: And, you know, those are the products I use.
- 34:31SPEAKER_00: It's like that is the stuff I trust, you know, and it's not like no one can shake me when it comes to that.
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: Those are the products that work for me, they are the things that I invest in.
- 34:42SPEAKER_00: You know, Mastini is definitely on that shelf, you know.
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: It's just that I I really believe in that more curated approach to whatever it is we're buying and whatever it is that we're investing in, you know.
- 34:54SPEAKER_00: And I think that the brands who are doing makeup, you guys are doing a great job as is.
- 34:58SPEAKER_00: You don't need to cross over into this other lane.
- 35:01SPEAKER_00: You really just don't have to, you know, because there's a lot of really great um founders and products here already.
- 35:06SPEAKER_00: And I just, you know, I think that we can all coexist, right?
- 35:10SPEAKER_00: We don't all have to do everything, we can all coexist.
- 35:13SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, half the time, I hate to say it, you know, but somebody has to.
- 35:18SPEAKER_00: When you're doing something and then you start like switching modes and saying, oh, all of a sudden now I'm gonna start formulating a whole different type of product, nine times out of ten, you're gonna fail because you're not used to that category.
- 35:31SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 35:32SPEAKER_00: So it's almost like doing, I don't think that's doing justice to your consumers.
- 35:36SPEAKER_00: That's my point.
- 35:37SPEAKER_00: And so that's why I say, you know, skincare is skincare, makeup is makeup, and you should not be blending the two.
- 35:43SPEAKER_00: You should have a great skincare regime and a great makeup regime, and then just, you know, or regimen, sorry, and then just combine the two.
- 35:51SPEAKER_00: But don't, you know, don't be looking for that one product that's gonna do everything.
- 35:55SPEAKER_00: It just doesn't exist out there, guys.
- 35:57SPEAKER_00: It just doesn't, you know, you have to you have to figure it out, you have to find what's good for you, you know.
- 36:02SPEAKER_00: So um, I feel like I'm going in circles, but I I really want people to understand that.
- 36:08SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 36:08SPEAKER_02: No, I I I agree with you.
- 36:10SPEAKER_02: I and and I'm not also um, I don't know how about you, but I'm not a big makeup person.
- 36:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm not even I think the most amount of makeup I do is just for like photo shoots or um usually I'm good with just like a light foundation.
- 36:26SPEAKER_03: If I'm going to sign out on a on a days that I'm just working, you will just see me with skincare, sunblock, sometimes tinted, most of the times, even not tinted, um, red lip, a little bit of blush, and I'm good to go.
- 36:40SPEAKER_03: But again, um, that's personally me.
- 36:43SPEAKER_03: I understand that there are people who love makeup and that's how they um express themselves through makeup, and I respect that.
- 36:51SPEAKER_03: But again, I just feel that you have to then make sure that you're properly removing it, you're not going to bed wearing makeup, you're never going to bed wearing makeup, um, and that you're choosing good products.
- 37:05SPEAKER_03: And I think when you said creating products in mind with the thought in mind to not damage your clients is is a is an important thought because um when you create a product, like I feel tremendous responsibility.
- 37:22SPEAKER_03: Um, that's something that you know we put together and we created the idea, we created the formula is gonna wind up in the hands of of other people, right?
- 37:32SPEAKER_03: So just the thought of that and the responsibility that comes with it, I think is enormous.
- 37:39SPEAKER_03: And coming from a family of doctors, I mean, you know that the first thing they tell you is do not harm whatever you do.
- 37:46SPEAKER_00: Exactly, yes, absolutely.
- 37:49SPEAKER_00: No, I love that you said that.
- 37:51SPEAKER_00: Oh my goodness, yes, and do no harm, you know what I mean?
- 37:55SPEAKER_00: Do no harm, try to do your best, absolutely.
- 37:58SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's so crucial.
- 38:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, no, and I think you know, it's really important what you said because listen, there is an ethical responsibility, you know.
- 38:09SPEAKER_00: I don't care if you know people argue, oh, the FDE is not involved in skincare products, blah blah blah.
- 38:14SPEAKER_00: That doesn't matter.
- 38:16SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 38:16SPEAKER_00: There's this thing called, you know, individual integrity and ethics.
- 38:21SPEAKER_00: And if you are somebody who is creating products and you're putting them out there, like Olga mentioned, you've got to have that in you.
- 38:28SPEAKER_00: You've got to have that responsibility feeling inside of you.
- 38:31SPEAKER_00: And if you don't, as a founder, then you're doing you know more harm than good, you know, and it's really not, it's it's not a good look.
- 38:39SPEAKER_00: And more importantly, it's dangerous for you because if your products hurt somebody, you know, they're gonna be coming after you.
- 38:45SPEAKER_00: So you should do the homework, you should go the extra mile and put in, you know, your blood, sweat, and tears before you just launch a brand.
- 38:52SPEAKER_00: You know, it it's really there's nothing is perfect.
- 38:54SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying that.
- 38:55SPEAKER_00: There's no such thing as perfection.
- 38:56SPEAKER_00: But what I am saying is, you know, it is really echoing what you said, Olga, which is just this need and this feeling of true responsibility towards your consumers.
- 39:06SPEAKER_00: Um, and unfortunately, there's a lot of brands I just don't see that coming from.
- 39:10SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 39:11SPEAKER_00: Like it's like it almost like hurts my feelings when I see it.
- 39:15SPEAKER_00: You know, a brand just not give a crap, right, about their consumers because I'm like, well, why are we giving you our money then?
- 39:21SPEAKER_00: You know, why are we trusting you?
- 39:23SPEAKER_00: So it's very refreshing to hear, you know, you say that, especially because your your brand is just so wonderful and it's so phenomenal.
- 39:29SPEAKER_00: And it's something that everyone can really utilize.
- 39:32SPEAKER_00: That's another thing.
- 39:33SPEAKER_00: Like it's functional, you know, it's like not to rant too much, but I just want to say, you know, there are brands in the market that serve absolutely no purpose.
- 39:44SPEAKER_00: Like there really are.
- 39:46SPEAKER_00: And I just don't understand why people aren't like talking about that more because how many hyaluronic acid serums can you actually have, you guys?
- 39:54SPEAKER_00: You know, how many do we need before we realize industry like this is not necessary anymore?
- 39:59SPEAKER_00: You know, and we start focusing on the brands that are unique and they're creating their own space and they're creating their own little niche, you know.
- 40:06SPEAKER_00: And that's really how I see, for example, mask teeny.
- 40:09SPEAKER_00: Like you guys are in your own niche, Olga.
- 40:11SPEAKER_00: Like this is its own little category, you know what I mean?
- 40:13SPEAKER_00: And I don't see anyone else doing it.
- 40:15SPEAKER_00: So that's very special, like, you know, from a consumer standpoint.
- 40:19SPEAKER_00: That's very um intriguing and it's very like, you know, um, just it draws you in.
- 40:24SPEAKER_00: It makes you feel like, okay, they're the experts with masking.
- 40:28SPEAKER_00: Let me go to them, you know, rather than XYZ brand that I don't know anything about.
- 40:32SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I I I hear you.
- 40:34SPEAKER_00: And I'm a huge uh fan, you know, in all ways of everything that you've created.
- 40:38SPEAKER_00: It's it's really phenomenal.
- 40:40SPEAKER_03: I think well, thank you for saying that.
- 40:42SPEAKER_03: Um, our team works hard to create a product, and it starts from, like I said, from design, from you know, the formulation.
- 40:51SPEAKER_03: Um, and design has to do a lot uh with the product as well, because um, I think I have a one of the best creative directors in the world.
- 41:01SPEAKER_03: Um Jesse Bixler has been with me from the launch and um I love the packaging, I love the style that he's creating.
- 41:10SPEAKER_03: It's it's sort of whimsical, but it's sophisticated, and we didn't want to have that black and white um on the shelves.
- 41:18SPEAKER_03: We wanted to have the products that are gonna stand out on your uh counter and um and put a smile on your face, you know, just like look right, look special, you know, have those encouraging messages when you open the box, right?
- 41:34SPEAKER_03: Um and I think all of those little touches are important.
- 41:39SPEAKER_03: Um they're important to us personally as a team, and we hope that they're important to our um our client base.
- 41:48SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 41:49SPEAKER_00: And I can tell you, as you know, someone who loves your products, they are.
- 41:53SPEAKER_00: We see it, you know, we see your hard work, and I love what you're doing, and I love that you're not cutting corners.
- 41:59SPEAKER_00: I also wanted to give a huge shout out to all of my um fellow Indian American women out there that are might be, you know, uh getting married or you have a wedding coming up because in our culture, um, okay, I'm sure you know about this.
- 42:13SPEAKER_00: There's this ritual, it's called the um Huldi ritual, but it's really turmeric that is mixed um to kind of brighten the overall skin tone of the bride and also the groom.
- 42:24SPEAKER_00: And so it's like a whole ritual around it.
- 42:26SPEAKER_00: And we recently what I've been noticing um is that people are kind of gravitating because as we know, turmeric stains, right?
- 42:32SPEAKER_00: It stains your skin, it'll stain your clothes.
- 42:34SPEAKER_00: So a really, really great option for all my ladies out there that might be, you know, embarking on that journey, the gold mask is your best friend.
- 42:42SPEAKER_00: This could be used for that because it gives you that glow that um you would want from that turmeric blend that we use.
- 42:49SPEAKER_00: And you can still use the turmeric for like the actual ritual itself.
- 42:52SPEAKER_00: But as far as the the actual skincare and the glow benefits, I think this mask is a really, really great.
- 42:58SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, it's it's a great idea to have in like your wedding or like in your wedding bags or like, you know what I mean?
- 43:04SPEAKER_00: Like it's just it's it's a cool little option for um, you know, that specific ceremony.
- 43:09SPEAKER_00: So I just wanted to give a little shout out there.
- 43:11SPEAKER_00: But yeah, I mean I I love it, you know.
- 43:13SPEAKER_00: I think what you're doing is so unique, Olga.
- 43:15SPEAKER_00: And I love um everything that you guys are about to come out with, everything that's there.
