- 0:12Speaker 1: delicious cup of coffee with me. We're gonna be talking
- 0:14Speaker 1: about a fantastic subject today in Hebrews chapter one, that
- 0:19Speaker 1: Jesus is above the angels and how all of the
- 0:21Speaker 1: prophecy in the Old Testament proves this. And we're also
- 0:24Speaker 1: going to talk about how Jesus is not Michael the
- 0:27Speaker 1: Archangel based upon some biblical facts in the Old Testament.
- 0:31Speaker 1: So stay tuned for this discussion. All right, faith listeners,
- 0:40Speaker 1: I'm excited to jump right into this topic. But first,
- 0:42Speaker 1: of course, here is a quick message from a sponsor.
- 0:45Speaker 1: And while this is playing, this is a really good
- 0:47Speaker 1: time for you to grab it your delicious cup of
- 0:49Speaker 1: coffee or a mediocre cup of tea, because there's no
- 0:53Speaker 1: such thing as a good cup of tea, and also
- 0:56Speaker 1: your Bible out of the version that you prefer, So
- 0:58Speaker 1: go ahead and grab those things while this ad plays.
- 1:02Speaker 1: And now that you have all your things for today's episode,
- 1:05Speaker 1: let's go ahead and read Hebrews chapter one five through fourteen.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I'm going to be jumping around in scripture a lot today,
- 1:12Speaker 1: possibly more than I ever have before. So forgive me
- 1:15Speaker 1: if I forget where I'm going from time to time,
- 1:18Speaker 1: because there's so many tabs opened in my computer right
- 1:22Speaker 1: now that I might mix them up. So forgive me
- 1:25Speaker 1: for that. In advance, Let's read Hebrews one five through
- 1:29Speaker 1: fourteen for t which of the angels did he say
- 1:33Speaker 1: at any time you are my son? And today I
- 1:35Speaker 1: have become your father. And again I will be to
- 1:38Speaker 1: him a father, and he will be to me a son.
- 1:40Speaker 1: When he again brings in the firstborn into the world,
- 1:42Speaker 1: he says, Let all the angels of God worship him.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Of the angels, he says, he makes his angels wins
- 1:49Speaker 1: and his servants a flame of fire. But of the Son,
- 1:52Speaker 1: he says, Your throne, O, God, is forever and ever.
- 1:55Speaker 1: The scepter of uprighteousness is the scepter of your kingdom.
- 1:58Speaker 1: You have loved righteousness and hate iniquity. Therefore, God, your God,
- 2:03Speaker 1: has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.
- 2:06Speaker 1: And you Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of
- 2:08Speaker 1: the earth. The heavens are the works of your hands.
- 2:11Speaker 1: They will perish, but you continue, they will all grow
- 2:14Speaker 1: old like a garment does. You will roll them up
- 2:17Speaker 1: like a mantle, and they will be changed. But you
- 2:20Speaker 1: are the same. Your years won't fail. But which of
- 2:23Speaker 1: the angels has he told at any time sit at
- 2:26Speaker 1: my right hand until I make your enemies the footstool
- 2:28Speaker 1: of your feet? Aren't they all serving spirits? Send out
- 2:31Speaker 1: to do service for the sake of those who will
- 2:33Speaker 1: inherit salvation. When we started Hebrews on Tuesday, I talked
- 2:39Speaker 1: about the points that you need to understand about Jesus
- 2:42Speaker 1: in order to recognize him as God. So the first
- 2:45Speaker 1: thing I mentioned is that firstly, you have to realize
- 2:47Speaker 1: that Jesus was not created. In John chapter one, it
- 2:50Speaker 1: mentions that Jesus was in the beginning with God the Father,
- 2:54Speaker 1: and that Jesus was the creator. Everything was created through Jesus.
- 2:58Speaker 1: And that's also what Hebrews one mentions as well, that
- 3:02Speaker 1: Jesus himself not only is the creator, but is sustaining
- 3:05Speaker 1: the entire world as we speak. He is sustaining everything
- 3:10Speaker 1: by the power of his word. So Jesus has not
- 3:13Speaker 1: been created because he is the creator. And secondly, we
- 3:17Speaker 1: talked about how Jesus is also sitting at the right
- 3:20Speaker 1: hand to God the Father. That is another thing that
- 3:23Speaker 1: proves his divinity is that he is able to be
- 3:26Speaker 1: near God the Father. And actually, something I did not
- 3:28Speaker 1: mention on Tuesday that I just thought of. Whenever we
- 3:31Speaker 1: see God's glory talked about in scripture, it is overwhelming
- 3:37Speaker 1: to the point of somebody feeling like they're going to die.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Like whenever a human being encounters God's glory, they fall
- 3:47Speaker 1: over as if dead because they are terrified being in
- 3:51Speaker 1: the presence of somebody so much greater than they are,
- 3:54Speaker 1: knowing that they offended that person. So they fall over
- 3:57Speaker 1: as dead because they probably believe that they are going
- 4:00Speaker 1: to be dead. And then on top of that, if
- 4:01Speaker 1: you look at the Book of I Believe it's Ezekiel.
- 4:05Speaker 1: When Ezekiel has visions of God's glory, he sees these
- 4:09Speaker 1: angels flying around, and even the angels can't handle God's glory.
- 4:14Speaker 1: They have to fly around with their faces covered, so
- 4:18Speaker 1: they have three wings. They have two wings at the
- 4:21Speaker 1: top that cover their face, and then they have two
- 4:24Speaker 1: wings that they fly with, and then two wings that
- 4:27Speaker 1: cover their feet. Because even the angels can't handle being
- 4:31Speaker 1: in God's glory, and yet Jesus is able to sit
- 4:35Speaker 1: right next to God the Father, and he is perfectly
- 4:39Speaker 1: able to handle it because he is God himself. And
- 4:44Speaker 1: that's something I didn't mention on Tuesday that I just
- 4:46Speaker 1: thought of. But also the third thing we need to
- 4:48Speaker 1: understand about Jesus being God is that he is better
- 4:51Speaker 1: than the angels. And that is what the author of
- 4:53Speaker 1: Hebrews goes into more in depth today in this passage,
- 4:57Speaker 1: starting in verse five, it says, for to which of
- 4:59Speaker 1: the angels did God say? Did he or God say,
- 5:03Speaker 1: at any time? You are my son. Today I have
- 5:06Speaker 1: become your father, and again I will be to him
- 5:09Speaker 1: a father, and he will be to me a son. Now,
- 5:11Speaker 1: first things I want to point out about those two verses,
- 5:14Speaker 1: which are found in the Old Testament. By the way,
- 5:16Speaker 1: both of those verses show that Jesus already existed, because
- 5:21Speaker 1: God is talking to an individual that already exists. So
- 5:25Speaker 1: this shows that Jesus was not born, he was not created,
- 5:29Speaker 1: He just is. And so God is now revealing Jesus
- 5:34Speaker 1: as his son. That's actually what some versions do translate it,
- 5:37Speaker 1: as for example, the NLT says you are my son
- 5:41Speaker 1: today I reveal you as my son. And I think
- 5:43Speaker 1: that's an interesting way to put it, because that's essentially
- 5:46Speaker 1: what it comes down to. Actually, Jesus is God's only son.
- 5:52Speaker 1: He's the only begotten son. Now don't forget that word begotten,
- 5:56Speaker 1: because I'm going to come back to that word in
- 5:57Speaker 1: just a second. But you might be like, well, jen
- 6:00Speaker 1: and God has a lot of sons. It actually says
- 6:03Speaker 1: in scripture that we, like humans, are God's sons and daughters.
- 6:08Speaker 1: And it also says that the angels are God's sons
- 6:11Speaker 1: in the Book of Job. Let's turn to Job chapter
- 6:14Speaker 1: one and read verse six real quick. Here's what it
- 6:16Speaker 1: says about this. Now, on the day when God's sons
- 6:19Speaker 1: came to present themselves before Yahweh, Satan also came among them. Okay,
- 6:25Speaker 1: so that verse shows pretty clearly that the angels are
- 6:27Speaker 1: also called God's sons. And not to mention, the New
- 6:31Speaker 1: Testament says over and over and over again that you
- 6:33Speaker 1: and I, when we believe in Jesus, we have become
- 6:37Speaker 1: the sons and daughters of God. So then how can
- 6:41Speaker 1: Hebrews one claim that Jesus is the only son and
- 6:45Speaker 1: that God never called the other angels his sons well,
- 6:48Speaker 1: because Jesus is the only begotten son. The angels might
- 6:53Speaker 1: be God's created sons, You and I might be God's
- 6:57Speaker 1: adopted sons, but Jesus is the only begotten son. In fact,
- 7:03Speaker 1: one of the most famous verses in the entire Bible,
- 7:05Speaker 1: John three sixteen says that very thing for God so
- 7:09Speaker 1: loved the world that he gave his only begotten son,
- 7:12Speaker 1: that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but have
- 7:16Speaker 1: everlasting life. That's from the King James version. And we
- 7:19Speaker 1: don't use the word begotten anymore in our English language
- 7:23Speaker 1: because it's just old fashioned. But the word begotten is
- 7:27Speaker 1: actually really important. I'm kind of sad that the web
- 7:30Speaker 1: does not mention this word right here, because if you
- 7:33Speaker 1: read the NKJV or the KJV, it'll say in Hebrews
- 7:36Speaker 1: chapter five, you are my son today I have begotten you.
- 7:40Speaker 1: And that word begotten is actually very important. Let's go
- 7:44Speaker 1: back to the Greek as to what the word begotten
- 7:46Speaker 1: actually means. It is monogenes. I believe it's pronounced I
- 7:51Speaker 1: might be wrong about that. It says it's a Greek
- 7:54Speaker 1: adjective frequently translated in the Bible as only begotten. It
- 7:58Speaker 1: derives from monos only and genos kind generally meaning a
- 8:05Speaker 1: unique soul, unparalleled, specific relationship. It describes Jesus as uniquely
- 8:11Speaker 1: divine and of the same essence as the Father. I mean,
- 8:16Speaker 1: think about the breakdown of that word monos and genos
- 8:20Speaker 1: monos meaning only, genos meaning kind. In other words, of
- 8:25Speaker 1: the same kind or of the same class. You might say,
- 8:32Speaker 1: that is what the word begotten means. Jesus is the
- 8:35Speaker 1: begotten son of God. He is of the same kind
- 8:39Speaker 1: and of the same class. So he is equal to
- 8:43Speaker 1: God the Father, through and through. That is what the
- 8:46Speaker 1: word begotten means. And I'm kind of sad that our
- 8:49Speaker 1: English language has sort of dropped that word because it's
- 8:52Speaker 1: a really important word to understand when talking about Jesus
- 8:58Speaker 1: being the son of God. He's not just the son
- 9:01Speaker 1: of God, but he is the only begotten son of God.
- 9:04Speaker 1: He has begotten. He is of the same kind as God,
- 9:08Speaker 1: the Father. God never told the angels that. He never
- 9:14Speaker 1: told the angels you are my only begotten son. I'm
- 9:17Speaker 1: going to reveal you as my son today. He never
- 9:20Speaker 1: told them that. But Jesus is special because he is
- 9:23Speaker 1: of the same kind as God the Father, and that's
- 9:28Speaker 1: what Hebrews is trying to prove here. And then it
- 9:31Speaker 1: says in verse six, when he again brings the firstborn
- 9:35Speaker 1: into the world, he says, let all the angels of
- 9:38Speaker 1: God worship him. Now, that word firstborn here has confused
- 9:43Speaker 1: a lot of people because they say, oh, well, if
- 9:47Speaker 1: Jesus is the firstborn, clearly he has to have been born.
- 9:51Speaker 1: And that makes a lot of sense as to why
- 9:52Speaker 1: people think that, because you know, when we think of
- 9:55Speaker 1: a firstborn child, we think that that child is truly
- 9:58Speaker 1: the first born of the parents. But you have to
- 10:02Speaker 1: go back to the cultural Hebrew understanding of what firstborn
- 10:06Speaker 1: means in order to understand what the author is trying
- 10:09Speaker 1: to say. The word firstborn was a title. It was
- 10:13Speaker 1: not an origin story, we should say, because actually, if
- 10:17Speaker 1: you look in the Old Testament, there were a lot
- 10:19Speaker 1: of times where children who weren't the firstborn got the
- 10:23Speaker 1: title of firstborn. A really famous example of this in
- 10:26Speaker 1: the Old Testament is Jacob and Ysau. You know, Jacob
- 10:30Speaker 1: was the second born son Esau was the firstborn. But
- 10:34Speaker 1: Esau rejected God, and so God stripped Esau of his
- 10:38Speaker 1: title of firstborn and gave it to Jacob. So when
- 10:43Speaker 1: somebody is called a firstborn, that's the title to mean
- 10:47Speaker 1: that they inherit everything that their father owns, meaning that
- 10:51Speaker 1: that child is on the same exact level as his father,
- 10:55Speaker 1: because his father is in trusting everything that he has
- 10:59Speaker 1: to him. So that's why Jesus here is called the firstborn.
- 11:04Speaker 1: And the author of Hebrews mentions this verse, which says,
- 11:08Speaker 1: let all the angels of God worship him. Now, this
- 11:10Speaker 1: verse is found in the septuagent version of Deuteronomy chapter
- 11:15Speaker 1: thirty two, verse forty three, which the versions that you
- 11:20Speaker 1: and I have today, for whatever reason, don't include that
- 11:24Speaker 1: little portion, but there's always a footnote that talk about it. So,
- 11:28Speaker 1: for example, the footnote in the web if you turn
- 11:30Speaker 1: to Deuteronomy thirty two, verse forty three, it says for
- 11:35Speaker 1: this verse, the Sebtuagent reads, Rejoice you heavens with him,
- 11:38Speaker 1: and let all the angels of God worship him. Rejoice
- 11:41Speaker 1: you gentiles with his people, and let all the sons
- 11:43Speaker 1: of God strengthen themselves in him. For he will avenge
- 11:46Speaker 1: the blood of his sons, and he will render vengeance
- 11:49Speaker 1: and recompense justice to his enemies, and will reward them
- 11:52Speaker 1: that hate him, and the Lord shall purge the land
- 11:55Speaker 1: of his peoples. Now, I'm not gonna lie. I did
- 11:58Speaker 1: not look into why are current bibles don't include the
- 12:02Speaker 1: subtuagent version of that verse, because we have like the
- 12:06Speaker 1: shortened version of it, which says, rejoice you nations with
- 12:09Speaker 1: his people, for he will avenge the blood of his servants,
- 12:12Speaker 1: he will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he will
- 12:14Speaker 1: make atonement for his land and for his people. That's
- 12:17Speaker 1: what the web says. So I don't really know why
- 12:20Speaker 1: the subtuagent version is not included in the Old Testament.
- 12:24Speaker 1: But regardless, we do have the footnotes that talk about
- 12:27Speaker 1: the subtuagent here. And also Hebrews chapter one mentions that
- 12:32Speaker 1: verse from the subtuagen let all the angels of God
- 12:36Speaker 1: worship him, which shows that Jesus is above all the
- 12:39Speaker 1: angels of God. And then verse seven it says of
- 12:43Speaker 1: the angels, he says, he makes his angels wins and
- 12:46Speaker 1: his servants a flame of fire. Now that is a
- 12:49Speaker 1: verse found in Psalm forty five. Oh just kidding, It
- 12:54Speaker 1: is found in Psalm one oh four, verse four, which
- 12:57Speaker 1: says he makes his messengers wins and his servant's flame
- 13:01Speaker 1: of fire. Now that is, of course talking about just
- 13:05Speaker 1: the normal angel, and that verse again Hebrews is pointing out,
- 13:09Speaker 1: shows that angels are mere servants of God, whereas Jesus
- 13:15Speaker 1: is something greater, He is God himself. And this should
- 13:19Speaker 1: give anyone who thinks that Jesus and Michael the Archangel
- 13:22Speaker 1: are the same entity pause, because Jesus is clearly greater
- 13:28Speaker 1: than the angels. Michael the Archangel is described only as
- 13:33Speaker 1: an angel, nothing more than that. If you turn to
- 13:37Speaker 1: Daniel chapter let's see here Daniel chapter ten, twelve through fourteen.
- 13:43Speaker 1: This is how Scripture describes Michael the Archangel. It says,
- 13:47Speaker 1: then he said to me, don't be afraid, Daniel, for
- 13:50Speaker 1: from the first day that you set your heart to
- 13:52Speaker 1: understand and to humble yourself before your God, your words
- 13:55Speaker 1: were heard. I have come for your word's sake. But
- 13:58Speaker 1: the Prince of the Kingdom of Persia with study me
- 14:00Speaker 1: for twenty one days. But behold, Michael, one of the
- 14:03Speaker 1: chief princes came to help me because I remain there
- 14:05Speaker 1: with the kings of Persia. Now I have come to
- 14:07Speaker 1: make you understand what will happen to your people in
- 14:10Speaker 1: the latter days, for the vision is yet for many days.
- 14:13Speaker 1: So those verses essentially describe an angel that came to
- 14:17Speaker 1: Daniel and was telling Daniel about this problem that he had,
- 14:21Speaker 1: where Michael the Archangel came to help him. And this
- 14:24Speaker 1: angel describes Michael as being one of the chief Princes,
- 14:30Speaker 1: not the chief Prince, but one of the chief princes,
- 14:34Speaker 1: meaning that there are multiple chief princes. So yes, Michael
- 14:39Speaker 1: the Archangel is certainly an archangel. He is one of
- 14:43Speaker 1: the great princes of the angelic realm. But he is
- 14:48Speaker 1: not the Prince. He is not the King of kings,
- 14:51Speaker 1: he is not the Lord of lords. He's just an
- 14:54Speaker 1: angel with a lot of authority in God's kingdom. So
- 14:58Speaker 1: scripture does differentiate My the Archangel and Jesus, and not
- 15:03Speaker 1: to mention. If you continue in verse eight of Hebrews one,
- 15:06Speaker 1: it says, but of the son he or God says
- 15:10Speaker 1: your throne, O, God is forever and ever. The scepter
- 15:14Speaker 1: of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom. You have
- 15:18Speaker 1: loved righteousness and hated iniquity. Therefore God, your God, has
- 15:22Speaker 1: anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Now that is a verse from Psalm chapter forty five,
- 15:30Speaker 1: six and seven, And we actually did discuss this one
- 15:33Speaker 1: over on the Bible Explained on Fridays. But this verse
- 15:36Speaker 1: is God the Father calling Jesus God, and then Jesus
- 15:41Speaker 1: in turn calls God the Father his God. Not to mention,
- 15:46Speaker 1: when Jesus was down here on earth, he did pray
- 15:48Speaker 1: to God the Father while he was up on the cross, saying,
- 15:50Speaker 1: my God, my God, why have you forsaken me? So
- 15:54Speaker 1: Jesus did call God the Father his God, and then
- 15:57Speaker 1: in turn, God the Father also called Jesus God. So
- 16:01Speaker 1: it shows right there that Jesus and God the Father
- 16:05Speaker 1: are one and the same because they're both God and
- 16:07Speaker 1: they both call each other God. So it's kind of
- 16:09Speaker 1: a cool little verse where yes, God the Father indeed
- 16:13Speaker 1: says that Jesus Christ is God. Now, before I end
- 16:17Speaker 1: the episode, I want to throw a little caveat in there,
- 16:20Speaker 1: because something that came to mind when I was researching
- 16:24Speaker 1: this is the fact that we see in the Old
- 16:26Speaker 1: Testament where people actually refer to God as the Angel
- 16:30Speaker 1: of God. And in my mind, not gonna lie, that
- 16:34Speaker 1: kind of threw a wrench in things. If you turn
- 16:36Speaker 1: to Exodus chapter three, verse two. Here's what it says.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Yahweh's angel appeared to him in a flame of fire
- 16:43Speaker 1: out of the middle of the bush. And he looked
- 16:45Speaker 1: and behold the bush burned with fire, and the bush
- 16:47Speaker 1: was not consumed. Moses said, I must go now and
- 16:51Speaker 1: see this great sight. Why the bush is not burned.
- 16:54Speaker 1: When Yahweh saw that, he came over to see God
- 16:57Speaker 1: called to him out of the middle of the bush
- 16:59Speaker 1: and said Moses, Moses, he said, here I am. Those
- 17:04Speaker 1: verses right there show that the angel causing the bush
- 17:08Speaker 1: to burn was actually God himself. And that's where things
- 17:12Speaker 1: get really confusing, because Jesus is greater than all the angels.
- 17:16Speaker 1: But yet scripture does actually say that Jesus is an angel.
- 17:21Speaker 1: In fact, he's called the Angel of God on a
- 17:23Speaker 1: handful occasions in the Old Testament, specifically in the Book
- 17:26Speaker 1: of Joshua I believe, and also later on in the
- 17:29Speaker 1: Book of Judges, when the Angel of God appeared to
- 17:33Speaker 1: Samson's parents and gave them a message. Samson's parents actually
- 17:38Speaker 1: offered to the Angel of God and worshiped him and
- 17:41Speaker 1: said I have seen God. So that shows right there
- 17:43Speaker 1: that sometimes in the Old Testament, when the Angel of
- 17:46Speaker 1: God shows up, it is probably Jesus himself. So how
- 17:50Speaker 1: do we remedy that with the fact that Hebrews Chapter
- 17:53Speaker 1: one says that Jesus is above all the angels. Well,
- 17:56Speaker 1: the best explanation for that is by looking at the
- 17:59Speaker 1: word angel it self. The word angel just means messenger,
- 18:04Speaker 1: and we see the word angel not always referring to
- 18:07Speaker 1: just the angels. At the beginning of Revelation, John was
- 18:10Speaker 1: actually writing letters to the churches, and he said to
- 18:13Speaker 1: the Angel of the Church of Philadelphia, for example, And
- 18:18Speaker 1: it's very possible he's not writing that letter to an
- 18:20Speaker 1: actual angel, but to a messenger. So the word angel
- 18:25Speaker 1: can sometimes get confusing because it means messenger. But when
- 18:29Speaker 1: Hebrews chapter one is talking about the difference between angels
- 18:34Speaker 1: and Jesus, he's talking about the difference between God's creation
- 18:40Speaker 1: and Jesus himself, who was not created. Because the angels,
- 18:44Speaker 1: as we know of them, were the servants of God.
- 18:47Speaker 1: That is what Psalm one of four says. That is
- 18:50Speaker 1: what Hebrews here quotes about how angels are different than
- 18:54Speaker 1: Jesus because the angels are created servants of God, whereas
- 18:58Speaker 1: Jesus is not a servant he might at times be
- 19:01Speaker 1: a messenger for God's words, but he is not a servant,
- 19:06Speaker 1: because he is the begotten son of God. He is
- 19:10Speaker 1: equal to God across the board. In fact, Hebrews one,
- 19:13Speaker 1: verse three says that Jesus is the radiance of God's glory,
- 19:17Speaker 1: the very image of his substance, and upholding all things
- 19:20Speaker 1: by the word of his power. So that shows right
- 19:22Speaker 1: there that Jesus and the angels or the servants are different.
- 19:28Speaker 1: But let's go ahead and conclude Hebrews one, starting in
- 19:30Speaker 1: verse ten. Here's another verse that Hebrews mentions, you Lord,
- 19:36Speaker 1: in the beginning lay the foundation of the earth. The
- 19:39Speaker 1: heavens are the works of your hands. They will perish,
- 19:41Speaker 1: but you continue. They will all grow old like a
- 19:44Speaker 1: garment does. You will roll them up like a mantle,
- 19:47Speaker 1: and they will be changed. But you are the same.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Your years won't fail. Those are verses from Isaiah forty
- 19:53Speaker 1: five twelve and also Psalm one oh two. Those are
- 19:58Speaker 1: describing Jesus. What did these verses say, Well, they say
- 20:01Speaker 1: that Jesus was in the beginning, and he laid the
- 20:03Speaker 1: foundations of the earth. It says the heavens are the
- 20:06Speaker 1: works of his hands. They will perish, but Jesus continues,
- 20:10Speaker 1: meaning he is eternal, he is everlasting. They will grow
- 20:14Speaker 1: old like a garment grows old. Jesus will roll them
- 20:17Speaker 1: up like a mantle and they will be changed. But
- 20:19Speaker 1: you are the same, and your years won't fail. That
- 20:22Speaker 1: is talking about Jesus. That is what Hebrews says. Right here.
- 20:26Speaker 1: These verses are describing Jesus. So that's another thing we
- 20:30Speaker 1: have to understand about Jesus in order to recognize him
- 20:33Speaker 1: as God, is that he is eternal. The first point
- 20:36Speaker 1: that I talked about on Tuesday is that Jesus was
- 20:39Speaker 1: not born. The second point is that Jesus is sitting
- 20:41Speaker 1: at the right hand of God the Father. The third
- 20:43Speaker 1: point is that Jesus is above all the angels because
- 20:46Speaker 1: God the Father actually said so in the Old Testament.
- 20:49Speaker 1: The fourth reason being that Jesus is the creator, so
- 20:52Speaker 1: he could not be created. And the fifth point is
- 20:54Speaker 1: Jesus is eternal. He existed at the beginning and he
- 20:58Speaker 1: will exist forever. Even after the earth completely perishes, Jesus
- 21:04Speaker 1: will still be His years won't fail. He will be
- 21:07Speaker 1: the same. The earth may fail, but he will be
- 21:10Speaker 1: the same. And then verse thirteen But to which of
- 21:13Speaker 1: the angels has he told at any time, sit at
- 21:15Speaker 1: my right hand until I make your enemies the footstool
- 21:18Speaker 1: of your feet. That's another verse from the Psalms, that
- 21:21Speaker 1: is Psalm one ten, verse one. God never told this
- 21:25Speaker 1: to any angelic being. He never said that to them.
- 21:29Speaker 1: He said this to Jesus, that Jesus was going to
- 21:32Speaker 1: sit at the right hand of God the Father, which
- 21:35Speaker 1: is where he is right now. By the way, In fact,
- 21:37Speaker 1: this prophecy is currently coming true. Sit at my right
- 21:40Speaker 1: hand until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet.
- 21:44Speaker 1: That is what God the Father is doing. He's telling Jesus, hey,
- 21:46Speaker 1: sit right here next to me, my son, until I
- 21:49Speaker 1: finish what I have started, until I make your enemies
- 21:52Speaker 1: your footstool, which means I put them underneath you. God
- 21:57Speaker 1: never said any of these things to the angels, which
- 22:00Speaker 1: shows that Jesus is not Michael the Archangel. He is
- 22:04Speaker 1: not any angel. Because angels are God's servants, and that's
- 22:08Speaker 1: what Hebrews concludes with right here in verse twelve. Aren't
- 22:11Speaker 1: they all serving spirits sent out to do service for
- 22:15Speaker 1: the sake of those who will inherit salvation. That's the
- 22:19Speaker 1: purpose of the angels right now is to do service
- 22:23Speaker 1: for the sake of the people who will inherit salvation.
- 22:27Speaker 1: That is what the angels are doing. And there's a
- 22:28Speaker 1: lot of mystery surrounding that. And I understand people's fascinations
- 22:32Speaker 1: actually with the supernatural. I get it, you know, I'm
- 22:37Speaker 1: kind of fascinated with it. And scripture is kind of
- 22:40Speaker 1: vague when it talks about angels in a lot of ways. Hebrews,
- 22:44Speaker 1: I would say, actually talks about angels maybe the most
- 22:47Speaker 1: out of any book in the New Testament or Old Testament.
- 22:50Speaker 1: So we don't really know a lot about angels or
- 22:53Speaker 1: the spiritual realm for that matter. But what we do
- 22:56Speaker 1: know is that Jesus created all of it. Jesus is
- 22:59Speaker 1: the creator. He created the angels, He created the angels
- 23:02Speaker 1: who chose to fall, He created human beings who chose
- 23:05Speaker 1: to fall. He created everything. And so since Jesus sits
- 23:09Speaker 1: at the right hand of God the Father, we as
- 23:13Speaker 1: Christians must worship Jesus as God. Thank God, I got
- 23:19Speaker 1: through this episode. When I first started researching this today,
- 23:22Speaker 1: I was like, how am I going to talk about this?
- 23:26Speaker 1: How am I going to do it? This is so
- 23:28Speaker 1: beyond me and yet and I sat down and prayed
- 23:30Speaker 1: and God gave me the words. So thank you so much, God,
- 23:33Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you for helping me and get through
- 23:35Speaker 1: this episode. This was one I was really really concerned about. Actually,
- 23:39Speaker 1: all right, faith for listeners, we're ending on a high note.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Here's a quick word from a sponsor, and I'll say
- 23:42Speaker 1: goodbye after that. I hope you understand now why Hebrews
- 23:47Speaker 1: is my favorite book of the New Testament. I just
- 23:50Speaker 1: love it. It is so cool, so fun to talk about,
- 23:53Speaker 1: and there's so many points in it that you know,
- 23:55Speaker 1: we don't really talk about when discussing other portions of
- 23:59Speaker 1: the Scripture. So it's just been a lot of fun
- 24:01Speaker 1: to discuss Hebrews. And there's going to be a lot
- 24:04Speaker 1: more great topics from the Book of Hebrews specifically. You know,
- 24:08Speaker 1: people claim that the Book of Hebrews proves that people
- 24:12Speaker 1: can lose their salvation, and I'm going to show why.
- 24:14Speaker 1: I personally don't believe that, and I don't think that
- 24:17Speaker 1: Hebrews proves that at all. But I think Hebrews lines
- 24:19Speaker 1: up perfectly with the rest of Scripture, where it says
- 24:21Speaker 1: that you know, nobody can be plucked out of Jesus's hands. Like,
- 24:25Speaker 1: once Jesus got you, nobody can take you out. So
- 24:28Speaker 1: we'll get into topics like that and other topics as well.
- 24:31Speaker 1: You know, the Order of Malchisedek is coming up in
- 24:33Speaker 1: Hebrews also, and I'm excited to talk about that subject also.
