- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, Welcome to the Inside the Birds postgame show. I'm
- 0:13Speaker 1: Jeff Mosher. I'm with Adam Kaplan and anybody out there
- 0:17Speaker 1: who likes the Eagles have any fingernails left on their fingers.
- 0:20Speaker 1: I bet we're surprised at this point because Adam the Eagles.
- 0:24Speaker 1: They do it again, almost in reverse manner from Week three,
- 0:28Speaker 1: where they had to overcome a nineteen point deficit against
- 0:31Speaker 1: the Rams to win. They try to avoid blowing an
- 0:35Speaker 1: eighteen point lead against the Bucks, but at the end
- 0:38Speaker 1: of the day they hold on, they win. They exercise
- 0:42Speaker 1: their demons in Tampa and Raymond James Stadium and Adam
- 0:46Speaker 1: there four and oh and you can say what you
- 0:48Speaker 1: want about the Eagles are certainly flawed. Every team is,
- 0:51Speaker 1: but yet another example of the Eagles figuring out a
- 0:54Speaker 1: way to pull it out in the end.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Yeah, they did. I mean it, look Harry, certainly. The
- 0:59Speaker 2: second half was a disaster, particularly offensively. After Kevin Patula
- 1:03Speaker 2: called a brilliant first half the Conservatives, the conservatism came
- 1:09Speaker 2: back in the second half. I mean, unfortunately, I jakes
- 1:11Speaker 2: myself to you and with our Patreon members on discord,
- 1:16Speaker 2: I said, Petulla cannot get conservative. Keep throwing the football.
- 1:20Speaker 2: What did I say after last week's game. They got
- 1:23Speaker 2: to stop doing this. Come out and be aggressive against Tampa.
- 1:27Speaker 2: They were to start the game. They scored twenty four
- 1:30Speaker 2: offensive points. Second half was a disaster. I liked a
- 1:34Speaker 2: lot in the first st I've heard it was phenomenon
- 1:36Speaker 2: in the first half. Petula is super aggressive. But they
- 1:39Speaker 2: cannot be conservative. This has got to stop. This is
- 1:41Speaker 2: this spy. This is a coaching issue from the head coach.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Nick did not have this best game of the year.
- 1:46Speaker 2: He again with the bad penalties. I know it's it's
- 1:51Speaker 2: not TICKI tech, it's the way the league is calling it.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Nick is admitted publicly he took responsibility for the personal fouls.
- 1:57Speaker 2: They did it again in the first half. Can't do that.
- 2:00Speaker 2: If you want to celebrate, you have to celebrate away
- 2:02Speaker 2: from the player. They know they've been told that. There's
- 2:05Speaker 2: a saying of coaching. If it's happening, you're allowing it. Yeah,
- 2:07Speaker 2: it can't happen anymore. Number one. Number two, you have
- 2:11Speaker 2: to tap your offront the coordinator on the shoulder and say, hey,
- 2:13Speaker 2: throw the football. You can do that. Don't tell him
- 2:15Speaker 2: what to call. You got to tell him start throwing
- 2:18Speaker 2: the football.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Stay aggressive, Let's keep it up, Let's put our foot
- 2:21Speaker 1: on the pedal. Let's not revert. Absolutely, that is a
- 2:24Speaker 1: head coaching decision that has made all the time. And
- 2:27Speaker 1: I agree with you even on the foul issue, or
- 2:30Speaker 1: the taunting or personal fouls. The Eagles have quite a
- 2:33Speaker 1: bit of them now. And I will say I remember
- 2:36Speaker 1: watching the Thursday night game between the Seahawks and the Cardinals,
- 2:40Speaker 1: I think it was, and I think Kenneth Walker got
- 2:43Speaker 1: flagged for a taunting costs his team fifteen yards and
- 2:46Speaker 1: the guy didn't play. It was first quarter. I don't
- 2:48Speaker 1: think he took another rep until the fourth, third or
- 2:50Speaker 1: fourth quarter. That was a statement by the head coach saying,
- 2:54Speaker 1: which I'm sure doesn't just happen that day. It's the
- 2:57Speaker 1: week of practice, guys. The NFL is cracking down on this.
- 3:01Speaker 1: We got to keep our emotions in check. We can't taunt,
- 3:04Speaker 1: we can't spit. We can't you know, rough House, And
- 3:07Speaker 1: you gotta heed the message or else you have to
- 3:10Speaker 1: hold players accountable. So I agree with you on that.
- 3:13Speaker 1: The Eagles want to I wanted to zoom out real
- 3:15Speaker 1: quick here and just say something because I think this is.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I wrote about this in my observations column on Philly
- 3:22Speaker 1: Voice that I hope everybody reads. It was my first item.
- 3:25Speaker 1: You can nitpick out a lot of things, but the
- 3:27Speaker 1: Eagles have won twenty of their last twenty one games. Okay, Now,
- 3:33Speaker 1: you grew up in the Philadelphia area. I grew up
- 3:35Speaker 1: around a lot of people from the area. You don't
- 3:39Speaker 1: have to go back too long to hear your parents
- 3:42Speaker 1: or your grandparents talk about how difficult it is to
- 3:45Speaker 1: be an Eagles fan and all of the heartbreaking losses,
- 3:48Speaker 1: and we this franchise hasn't won a Super Bowl in
- 3:50Speaker 1: fifty fifty one, then fifty two years before they finally
- 3:54Speaker 1: did it. Well, now this team is in the middle
- 3:57Speaker 1: atom of a stretch. It is so enviable that it's
- 4:01Speaker 1: hard to even fathom being an Eagles fan or follower
- 4:05Speaker 1: and seeing just how good they've been for twenty one
- 4:08Speaker 1: weeks here, that's pretty impressive.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Well, so I'm glad you brought that up. But I
- 4:12Speaker 2: don't think we're nitpicking. See, this is my issue with coaching.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Control the things that you control, the stuff that you
- 4:18Speaker 2: don't have control. Look at if the defense makes a
- 4:21Speaker 2: great play, if you're being aggressive and make it aflection. Okay,
- 4:24Speaker 2: you can live with that, you know, if you like there.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I have a couple other things we'll get to as
- 4:29Speaker 2: we get through their offense and the defense as we
- 4:31Speaker 2: get through this. But I just wanted my opening statement,
- 4:33Speaker 2: or my opening thoughts is that I echo the people
- 4:36Speaker 2: that feel like Sirianni and Batulo because it's it's Knick's offense,
- 4:41Speaker 2: it's his decision in the end. Just be aggressive because
- 4:45Speaker 2: you've got this talent and the aggressiveness of the first half,
- 4:48Speaker 2: I was like, wow, this is even better than I
- 4:49Speaker 2: thought it would be. I didn't expect it. You know,
- 4:51Speaker 2: we could say after last week's game, this is what
- 4:53Speaker 2: they need to do, and they do it. But they
- 4:55Speaker 2: were so aggressive. I mean they on the touchbush play,
- 4:58Speaker 2: they hand off to Hurt, I mean to Barklay. I
- 5:00Speaker 2: love it. The show pass. This is phenomenal. Like I
- 5:04Speaker 2: Coho could have seen this, like this is phenomenal. Then okay,
- 5:07Speaker 2: second half, let's start running the football on first down?
- 5:10Speaker 2: No no, and guess what it shot them in? They asked,
- 5:13Speaker 2: they almost blew the game.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Yeah no, that is certainly not a nitpick for this game,
- 5:16Speaker 1: because it felt like the Eagles missed an opportunity to
- 5:20Speaker 1: put their foot on the throat.
- 5:21Speaker 2: They control that, dude, right.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I think that's a very legit I just met. When
- 5:25Speaker 1: you look out on it over twenty one games or
- 5:28Speaker 1: the last few years, you can find little things here
- 5:30Speaker 1: and there that we've but like the stretch of football
- 5:33Speaker 1: that they've played is would make people's grandparents and ancestors
- 5:37Speaker 1: almost like roll over if they're deceased in their grave
- 5:40Speaker 1: because they just never thought the Eagles could achieve this
- 5:43Speaker 1: kind of win success.
- 5:44Speaker 2: And I want to add, and you brought this up
- 5:46Speaker 2: to me, I forgot. I totally forgot on our pregame
- 5:48Speaker 2: show with Cosel. You know, I brought up the game
- 5:51Speaker 2: that they lost was Garder Johnson getting thrown out. I
- 5:55Speaker 2: forgot hurts got hurt in that game in the first
- 5:56Speaker 2: quarter against Washington. Yes, and they blew Yes. So I'm
- 6:01Speaker 2: glad you remember that because there listen. Let me let
- 6:04Speaker 2: me just and I'm glad you brought this up. I
- 6:06Speaker 2: want to be fair. Syrian is a phenomenal head coach,
- 6:08Speaker 2: but it doesn't mean we can't criticize them when it's warranted.
- 6:11Speaker 2: This is sometimes a little bit of a higher level
- 6:14Speaker 2: discussion about how coaches around the league see it. You
- 6:17Speaker 2: know they when you get a lead, there's this thing
- 6:20Speaker 2: in your head, Hey, don't blow this lead. Let's stay conservative,
- 6:23Speaker 2: or let's let's just run the ball out. But here's
- 6:26Speaker 2: the problem, as we take to the next level here,
- 6:29Speaker 2: they are a poor running team unless Hurts runs it.
- 6:31Speaker 2: It's not Barkley's fault, we pointed. We pointed out inside
- 6:34Speaker 2: the tape that Jurgens and Dickerson are not playing at
- 6:37Speaker 2: the level they need to. The interior theor line is
- 6:39Speaker 2: not blocking well for the run game. So guess what
- 6:42Speaker 2: you have an option? You could throw the football. And
- 6:44Speaker 2: Hurts was on such a role, the marriage between Syrian
- 6:48Speaker 2: well Sirianni Batulo and Hurts with phenomenal the first half.
- 6:51Speaker 2: But I put this now on on on Hurts. Now,
- 6:53Speaker 2: we'll see what the tape looks like when you and
- 6:56Speaker 2: you talk to Greg with our Patreon members. Andrew and
- 6:58Speaker 2: I will be at it aboard of the Chicki's doing
- 7:01Speaker 2: our show, our radio show on Tuesday. But I just
- 7:04Speaker 2: wanted to. I know Greig doesn't like to criticize play calling,
- 7:06Speaker 2: but from a conceptual standpoint, did he like what he
- 7:09Speaker 2: saw on the tape that I'd like to know.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Yeah, No, it seems like now you're waiting for him
- 7:15Speaker 1: to figure it out and figure it out and find
- 7:17Speaker 1: the way to spring him. And I wrote this, I
- 7:20Speaker 1: think we all thought that passing the ball war was
- 7:24Speaker 1: going to open up lanes for Saquon and make it
- 7:27Speaker 1: better for him to run, like you pass to set
- 7:30Speaker 1: up the run, while in the first three weeks they
- 7:32Speaker 1: were running too much to set up the pass, right, So,
- 7:35Speaker 1: but that clearly hasn't been the case because you couldn't
- 7:39Speaker 1: pass the ball better in the first half. Then he
- 7:41Speaker 1: was fifteen to sixteen in the first half, Jalen Hurts was,
- 7:44Speaker 1: and then lanes still weren't there for Saquon. So now
- 7:49Speaker 1: this has got to be something that they've got to
- 7:51Speaker 1: strategically figure out. And I agree, I don't see anything
- 7:53Speaker 1: different in Saquon. It may just be that the offensive
- 7:57Speaker 1: line is not as massive without Kai back, and it
- 8:00Speaker 1: may be a bunch of different things. You know, who
- 8:02Speaker 1: knows what it is, but it does. It is something
- 8:04Speaker 1: that they got to figure out, and I don't I
- 8:06Speaker 1: keep saying, I don't think it's gonna happen all year long.
- 8:09Speaker 1: I do think a big Barkley breakout will come. But
- 8:12Speaker 1: it also goes to show, and we said this in
- 8:14Speaker 1: the off season, is very hard to have a season
- 8:17Speaker 1: like Saquon Barkley had last year and then follow it
- 8:20Speaker 1: up with the same exact or better season.
- 8:23Speaker 2: It does best season NFL history through But right, yeah,
- 8:29Speaker 2: he'll I mean he'll get a thousand yards. I don't
- 8:30Speaker 2: know if even if he'll get twelve hundred at this point,
- 8:32Speaker 2: but and and look, that would be so those would
- 8:35Speaker 2: be the criticisms. The special teams well, through the first
- 8:38Speaker 2: half of first half of this game, they are incredible.
- 8:41Speaker 2: A block punt. Brad Man with phenomenal in the first half,
- 8:45Speaker 2: second half. He had a couple of punts that were
- 8:46Speaker 2: a little short, they had a coverage gaff, they got
- 8:49Speaker 2: lucky on one because there was a penalty holding penalty.
- 8:53Speaker 2: But you know, overall, if they won the game, you're
- 8:55Speaker 2: absolutely right. Twenty out of twenty one him. This is
- 8:57Speaker 2: just incredible football. I see. I don't buy this thing though.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Eagles fans are spoiled. No, they're not. They they have
- 9:02Speaker 2: enough information out there, they're getting smarter. They know when
- 9:05Speaker 2: things could be even done better. There's things again, you
- 9:09Speaker 2: funnel the football, you drop it. Okay, that's a that
- 9:11Speaker 2: that's a physical error or a miss block. There was
- 9:14Speaker 2: a there was a miss block by Steam in the
- 9:16Speaker 2: second half. Okay, that's a physical that's not a coaching issue.
- 9:19Speaker 2: But the things that coaches control, they have to do
- 9:21Speaker 2: a better job. But again, they won the game. They
- 9:23Speaker 2: will host the Broncos. The play on Monday Night against
- 9:28Speaker 2: the Bengals, but the Eagles have to feel pretty good
- 9:30Speaker 2: about it. Another thing that they did have a couple
- 9:32Speaker 2: of injuries. Lane Johnson again with a shoulder. We don't
- 9:35Speaker 2: know if it's stinger related, but it's shoulder. Jalen Carter's shoulder,
- 9:39Speaker 2: Obo Conchero. They ruled him out immediately. That's unfortunate. With
- 9:44Speaker 2: the truck, was the triceps one of them?
- 9:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it was.
- 9:48Speaker 2: I think it was trip immediately.
- 9:49Speaker 1: At least Carter was able to make it back. Thankful.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, So they're down of the seven intrusts are
- 9:54Speaker 2: down to five and of course, oh Jelari, boy, they
- 9:56Speaker 2: really don't like Ojelari. When I say that means when
- 9:59Speaker 2: when when you're down, when you can't rush the pasture, well,
- 10:02Speaker 2: and you already lost to Nolan Smith for a minimum
- 10:04Speaker 2: of four weeks or four games, and you don't have Ocelari.
- 10:08Speaker 2: They're telling you they don't think he can help them
- 10:10Speaker 2: right now. It's unfortunately right, he's got to be active
- 10:13Speaker 2: next week. I come on a right, the past rush
- 10:15Speaker 2: is poor.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Cool, Well, something's got to go on. We'll talk about that.
- 10:18Speaker 1: We'll talk we go inside the defense and talk about that.
- 10:20Speaker 1: I want to get also into some of the offensive
- 10:24Speaker 1: rhythm that was so great in the first half, but
- 10:26Speaker 1: maybe not there in the second half. Let's pause real
- 10:28Speaker 1: quick first to here we're from our great sponsors.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Hey, you know that one guy in the group chat
- 10:33Speaker 3: who hit a five leg parlay week one and he
- 10:35Speaker 3: wouldn't shut up about it for the rest of the season.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Sounds like Kaplan, right, yeah, yeah, it could be him.
- 10:41Speaker 3: It could be you, and we would all want to
- 10:44Speaker 3: be you. My bookie makes it stupid easy to get

- 13:01Speaker 1: and support the show. What I liked about the Eagles
- 13:04Speaker 1: offense and where I think it flourished and you hit
- 13:07Speaker 1: this on the head was sort of not only play
- 13:09Speaker 1: calling but play design. You mentioned the two touchdowns right,
- 13:12Speaker 1: And I do think that the experience that they've had
- 13:15Speaker 1: against Todd Bowles helped in this game, because when Todd's
- 13:19Speaker 1: gonna blitz five, six, seven guys at you, it's gonna
- 13:22Speaker 1: leave a lot of one on ones, and that's why
- 13:23Speaker 1: I thought they were really smart to come out passing
- 13:25Speaker 1: and then not so much in the second half. But
- 13:28Speaker 1: I will say Todd did a good job on his end.
- 13:32Speaker 1: He stopped blitzing in the second half. He showed it,
- 13:34Speaker 1: but then dropped and he was getting decent enough pocket
- 13:38Speaker 1: collapse with his four man rush. You saw Veya get
- 13:41Speaker 1: some sacks and some pressure. You saw Logan Allen Logan
- 13:44Speaker 1: is Logan Allen Logan, Who's Logan Hall? Thank you get
- 13:48Speaker 1: get pressure the edge guys yah yah were able to
- 13:51Speaker 1: get pressure, and then that forced Jalen to have to
- 13:54Speaker 1: go throw against a lot and coverage and he just
- 13:57Speaker 1: wasn't as comfortable as he didn't have the one on
- 13:59Speaker 1: ones that he had in the first half. So you
- 14:01Speaker 1: need to be able to counter punch when the other
- 14:04Speaker 1: team counterpunches itself, and I just didn't. It wasn't there.
- 14:09Speaker 1: But again I agree with you on they needed a
- 14:11Speaker 1: pass more. But there was an adjustment and we'll talk
- 14:14Speaker 1: to Greg when he does inside the tape. It did
- 14:16Speaker 1: look like the Bucks played into the Eagles hands early
- 14:19Speaker 1: by sending maybe one too many rushers because you saw
- 14:23Speaker 1: that sixteen yarder to DeVante Smith. He was getting Barkley
- 14:27Speaker 1: out in the flats. There was and Gotard. Goddard is
- 14:30Speaker 1: always big for Jalen Hurts against the Blitz. Remember the
- 14:33Speaker 1: Packers game wild card game last year and got it.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Being healthy and productive was he was really their most
- 14:39Speaker 1: damaging part of their offense for the first half because
- 14:42Speaker 1: A J didn't catch a pass until nobody cared about
- 14:45Speaker 1: it because he was doing well. But AG didn't have
- 14:47Speaker 1: a pass catch until under the two minute warning in
- 14:50Speaker 1: the first half.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Yeah, Gott it was huge in the first half that
- 14:53Speaker 2: he had a two touchdowns in the first half, the
- 14:55Speaker 2: shovel pass which is beautifully designed and executed, and then
- 14:59Speaker 2: I love to play by Hertz on the third and six.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Look at my notes here. There was a critical play
- 15:04Speaker 2: in the first half the day. Yes, I know that
- 15:08Speaker 2: passing numbers are not good this season, but that's not
- 15:10Speaker 2: what I'm talking about. He's done a very good job
- 15:13Speaker 2: for the most part of maintaining his downfield focus and
- 15:17Speaker 2: if he doesn't, there's zero chance that play gets completed.
- 15:20Speaker 2: He did and he saw him and hit him on
- 15:23Speaker 2: the left. Just a great play. I like how they
- 15:26Speaker 2: used Mechi on that one play. In the first half,
- 15:27Speaker 2: which is really good. Now the other thing, now, this
- 15:30Speaker 2: this bothered me and I don't know why they did it.
- 15:34Speaker 2: You gotta have you gotta have cam Latsu in line.
- 15:37Speaker 2: They had Calca Terror as the why tight end lot
- 15:41Speaker 2: Too as the offset fullback. That's not gonna work. It
- 15:43Speaker 2: hasn't worked all season. I look at my notes to
- 15:47Speaker 2: and I know I'm being critical, but it doesn't work.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Calca Terror can not block in line. What else do
- 15:52Speaker 2: they need to find out about this? It doesn't work.
- 15:55Speaker 1: It doesn't. It feels like you're trying to fool people, right,
- 16:00Speaker 1: like they're really not gonna block with Yeah they are.
- 16:02Speaker 2: He's too light, he can't block in line. Yeah, I
- 16:06Speaker 2: just I a lot too can block from as a
- 16:09Speaker 2: fullback movement to the why position. It's just it's not
- 16:12Speaker 2: I'm sorry, I don't agree with that. They're not going
- 16:14Speaker 2: to convince me otherwise.
- 16:15Speaker 1: So you think that he can help the team better
- 16:18Speaker 1: offensively by moving back to tight end and being.
- 16:21Speaker 2: The wh No, but it doesn't mean you can't use
- 16:23Speaker 2: him as a fullback where it's worked. But Calcuterra can't
- 16:26Speaker 2: block in line. I don't I just I don't know
- 16:29Speaker 2: that that one is just I have it as a
- 16:31Speaker 2: bullet point question mark, like at one point if they
- 16:34Speaker 2: understand that's not gonna work.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Yeah, you used to be able to live with it
- 16:37Speaker 1: a little bit, I think when calcat was going to
- 16:40Speaker 1: give you five or six catches for forty five yards
- 16:42Speaker 1: in the game. But still why yeah.
- 16:45Speaker 2: The why he's no longer here he's with the Saints.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, you know that's right. It's not a it's
- 16:50Speaker 1: not a great situation there, and you wonder how long
- 16:52Speaker 1: they'll continue to go with that. And maybe again that
- 16:54Speaker 1: when we talk about what are they going to do
- 16:57Speaker 1: to figure out a way to spring Barkley, Better to
- 16:59Speaker 1: get him some that are blocking up front, get bodies
- 17:01Speaker 1: off of him. That could be the answer, Adam, just
- 17:03Speaker 1: getting whether it's cam Lato or someone more capable of
- 17:08Speaker 1: blocking than Greg Alcatra.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Yeah. And by the way, I love the way in
- 17:13Speaker 2: the first half, first four out of this first five
- 17:16Speaker 2: place were called pass plays. Yep. You gotta love that
- 17:19Speaker 2: they threw the ball more than they ran it in
- 17:21Speaker 2: the first half, which is what I was looking for. Aggressive,
- 17:24Speaker 2: and then they came unbelievably predictable in the second half.
- 17:27Speaker 2: That this is hard to believe. You may or may
- 17:29Speaker 2: not know this hurts to not have a single passing
- 17:31Speaker 2: yard in the second half.
- 17:32Speaker 1: I know he didn't complete a pass in the second half.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I don't know if I've ever seen that from a
- 17:36Speaker 1: team that scored thirty one points and won a game.
- 17:39Speaker 2: I mean, now, I'm not absolving hurts from you know,
- 17:43Speaker 2: did he miss the table tell us. We'll have to guess,
- 17:46Speaker 2: so that one of the tape's gonna tell us everything.
- 17:48Speaker 2: We know you and you'll talk with the Patreon group.
- 17:51Speaker 2: We're Tier three is will talk to Greg on Tuesday, right,
- 17:55Speaker 2: and I know we will have Greg's notes exclusively for
- 17:57Speaker 2: Patreon members. Tier three. We're gonna probably do the offense
- 18:01Speaker 2: first because I'm so curious. I think i'll post that first.
- 18:03Speaker 2: I can't wait to see what Greg thinks. But I
- 18:06Speaker 2: just thought Hertz was so damn good in the first half.
- 18:08Speaker 2: I'm like, man, don't stop wrong. I'm sorry for keep
- 18:11Speaker 2: bringing this up. Yeah, but it just bothers meet coaches
- 18:14Speaker 2: shoot themselves in the foot mm hmm by getting too conservative.
- 18:17Speaker 2: I've seen it for years. No matter what the team is,
- 18:20Speaker 2: they there's it's like you going to Tampa, Oh, geez,
- 18:23Speaker 2: we have it won there in a while. It was
- 18:25Speaker 2: twenty thirteen on that Monday night game. You know, last
- 18:28Speaker 2: couple times we've been there, wasn't very good. Let's just
- 18:30Speaker 2: get out of here with a win. Don't coach like that. Yep,
- 18:33Speaker 2: put them, put them out of their misery. Just keep
- 18:35Speaker 2: throwing and keep scoring. And now the other is in breakers.
- 18:38Speaker 2: I don't know. This is what I want to ask Greg.
- 18:40Speaker 2: You can ask Greg for us. They hit him for
- 18:43Speaker 2: the banggate. I think it was a crosser. It was
- 18:45Speaker 2: a three step drop that's usually a bang gate. He
- 18:48Speaker 2: just throws it across the middle and they got him
- 18:50Speaker 2: on that. AJ got it. But I wanted to see
- 18:52Speaker 2: more in breakers, which we saw a little bit in
- 18:54Speaker 2: the first half, but I don't remember seeing much of
- 18:56Speaker 2: the second half.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I'm very curious to hear Eggs breakdown because, uh,
- 19:02Speaker 1: I don't know, there's got to be a there's got
- 19:04Speaker 1: to be a counter for them when the defense starts
- 19:07Speaker 1: to do something differently where they can still move the ball.
- 19:09Speaker 1: And your point, you're pointing the first play of the
- 19:12Speaker 1: second half, I figured they were gonna spread. I thought
- 19:15Speaker 1: they were going to do something, you know, creative and
- 19:17Speaker 1: it was a handoff to Barkley for minus three and
- 19:21Speaker 1: then the second play is a sack by via Veda.
- 19:24Speaker 1: So right away the radar was up that something's not good,
- 19:27Speaker 1: something's not right. You know, they had to punt it.
- 19:29Speaker 1: They went three How many possessions it was that they
- 19:32Speaker 1: went three and out in a row, one to three
- 19:35Speaker 1: straight possessions that they went three and out? Uh so
- 19:39Speaker 1: not great and clearly, and then of course in the
- 19:41Speaker 1: fourth quarter they had two so five all together from
- 19:45Speaker 1: the uh from in the second half or three and out.
- 19:48Speaker 1: So that's that's that's almost infathomable, unfathomable. The way they
- 19:52Speaker 1: were moving the ball in the first half fifteen mins.
- 19:55Speaker 2: I mean, he hurts it. It seemed like he had
- 20:00Speaker 2: two hundred yards and I know it was only one thirty,
- 20:02Speaker 2: but it just he was in such a rhythm, and
- 20:04Speaker 2: Patula's in such a rhythm as a play caller. They
- 20:07Speaker 2: had no the Bucks had no answer, and Hurts was
- 20:10Speaker 2: so good against the Blitz, and I because we don't
- 20:12Speaker 2: have access to the tape this early, we're not true
- 20:14Speaker 2: exactly other than hurt other than balls had enough. He's like, oh,
- 20:18Speaker 2: this isn't working. You bring what I usually do against Hurts.
- 20:21Speaker 2: He's killing us, so they're going to back off, make
- 20:23Speaker 2: them haul on the ball a little bit. And they
- 20:25Speaker 2: didn't execute. So uh, the coaches have some cruches to make.
- 20:29Speaker 2: But as you may, as you said, look, they won
- 20:30Speaker 2: the game. Bottom lines, they won the game.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I do want to bring attention to the offensive
- 20:35Speaker 1: line because I thought that actually, you know, we've said
- 20:37Speaker 1: that they haven't been theirselves as much lately, but I
- 20:40Speaker 1: thought they did an excellent job for the most part.
- 20:43Speaker 1: There's a breakdown here or there. I know Steen got
- 20:46Speaker 1: beat once and Dickerson got it, but in general, against
- 20:49Speaker 1: a team that came at you and came out you
- 20:51Speaker 1: and came at you, I don't recall too many free
- 20:54Speaker 1: you know. That's the thing with Todd Bowles and his
- 20:55Speaker 1: blitzes is he usually breaks down your scheme and gets
- 20:58Speaker 1: a bunch of free rushers, don't I don't remember that.
- 21:01Speaker 1: I think that they blocked it up pretty well from
- 21:03Speaker 1: O line to running back to tight end, and then
- 21:06Speaker 1: some of those sacks that you saw in the second half,
- 21:08Speaker 1: that was Hurts trying to find someone and run a
- 21:11Speaker 1: little bit, and then took a few sacks from vea.
- 21:14Speaker 1: I don't think that that was on the offensive line.
- 21:16Speaker 1: I thought the offensive line did well running they were terrible,
- 21:20Speaker 1: but again that's like something different.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Now, Yes, they had eleven tackles for loss. That gives
- 21:25Speaker 2: you the answers to the test. That's really bad. I
- 21:29Speaker 2: I I can't believe that they're this bad. And I
- 21:32Speaker 2: know it's generally inside runs. Yeah, getting absolutely blown up
- 21:36Speaker 2: on your point you made earlier, which is which is
- 21:38Speaker 2: a good one. I think it was actually the first place. Yeah,
- 21:43Speaker 2: right af the middle, and it's just I'm like, oh boy,
- 21:46Speaker 2: this this is okay. This we'll see what happens. Only
- 21:48Speaker 2: the first play the half it got progressively worse. It
- 21:52Speaker 2: was just the defense had to hold on. And another
- 21:55Speaker 2: thing is, man, can we transition right now to defense
- 21:58Speaker 2: because it was.

- 24:05Speaker 1: experience made for Philly fans twenty one and up.
- 24:08Speaker 2: I know that their past rush has been mostly anemic.
- 24:11Speaker 2: This season, it had to blitz more as a coach.
- 24:14Speaker 2: If it's not working, you got to swallow your pride
- 24:16Speaker 2: and bring it. They had some quality rushes when they
- 24:20Speaker 2: brought pressure. Guys are having a problem winning one on
- 24:24Speaker 2: one the sim pressures, as you and I were talking
- 24:27Speaker 2: about privately during the during the game, some of them
- 24:29Speaker 2: really worked. I give them credit in this that they
- 24:34Speaker 2: made Baker Mayfield, Now he didn't have Mike Evans, but
- 24:38Speaker 2: he made him fidgety and rushed himself sometimes. Despite Zach
- 24:43Speaker 2: Bond had had the rush, had the really nice sack.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Oh Jomo had to wear a flattenum actually basically made
- 24:51Speaker 2: him a pancake right up the middle. Yep. But look
- 24:55Speaker 2: there they're still having trouble. They can't win with four
- 24:57Speaker 2: it's it's just not gonna happen. Not this season less rate.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I think every third down vic either through an
- 25:06Speaker 1: extra man pressure or a SIM pressure. There was I
- 25:08Speaker 1: can't remember a single third down unless it was like
- 25:11Speaker 1: third and twenty or something where he just hit the
- 25:15Speaker 1: bucks with a four man rush, like that's a simple,
- 25:18Speaker 1: a conventional fore man rush. A SIM or creeper pressure
- 25:22Speaker 1: is four man, but you're you're rushed a blitzing linebacker
- 25:24Speaker 1: dropping an edge player. Usually, I think on literally every
- 25:29Speaker 1: third and medium or third and short there was some
- 25:31Speaker 1: form of either SIM pressure or extra man pressure, which
- 25:34Speaker 1: is like the opposite of what you saw for several weeks,
- 25:37Speaker 1: especially in the second half last year. So that just
- 25:40Speaker 1: shows you that, you know, we talk about the training
- 25:42Speaker 1: camp thing all the time, remember how it's so deceiving
- 25:45Speaker 1: and Moro Jomo was just a beast, and he did.
- 25:47Speaker 1: He did get a sack late in the game that
- 25:50Speaker 1: was important, but again that was on an extra man pressure.
- 25:52Speaker 1: So you're gonna get a one on one. They just
- 25:55Speaker 1: have not had it from the edges. They haven't had
- 25:58Speaker 1: it from the middle. They just but they but they
- 26:01Speaker 1: are getting pressure because Vic is dialing it up. He's
- 26:04Speaker 1: concoct down to you just wonder how long, like can
- 26:07Speaker 1: he do this and survive on it all year long
- 26:09Speaker 1: or do they need to figure out a way to
- 26:11Speaker 1: get another edge?
- 26:12Speaker 2: Like yeah, and their their run defense, the numbers aren't terrible,
- 26:16Speaker 2: but they gave up the boy they got they got crushed.
- 26:19Speaker 2: The misdirection misdirection runs with Bucky Irving, who had who
- 26:22Speaker 2: had some nice plays? Now yeah, uh, the the negatives
- 26:25Speaker 2: defensively would be now the play the Buka touchdown, I
- 26:30Speaker 2: mean what that that's one of those like they both
- 26:33Speaker 2: put their hands up. It was a coop and it
- 26:36Speaker 2: was a coop and metro coop. And I can't remember
- 26:38Speaker 2: who else it was on which play on the book
- 26:41Speaker 2: of seventy seven yard touchdown?
- 26:43Speaker 1: That would be Micuba and the safety blankenship was it not?
- 26:47Speaker 2: Okay, whoever it was? Okay, I'm looking at my notes here.
- 26:51Speaker 2: That's that. That's what look that that's they have to
- 26:53Speaker 2: knock it down. Okay, they didn't they gave up the
- 26:55Speaker 2: touch it them. It wasn't like they got beaten coverage, right,
- 26:58Speaker 2: they got lone assignment right right right. It wasn't like
- 27:01Speaker 2: that they were both there. It's just got to knock
- 27:03Speaker 2: it down. Then the irving one, you got a running
- 27:06Speaker 2: back on a linebacker. Running back wins. Okay, that's what happened.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Uh so, But here's what's problematic for me, Queinil Mitchell
- 27:15Speaker 2: made so many great plays in the game. There were
- 27:18Speaker 2: two badly missed holds where he and Ringo go.
- 27:24Speaker 1: I know, I know that's that's the difference between when
- 27:26Speaker 1: you're a star in this league and you get the
- 27:28Speaker 1: calls right and then you know, it's like when Michael
- 27:30Speaker 1: Jordan would get every single call, but then when you
- 27:32Speaker 1: would you would pat guys on the elbow when they shoot,
- 27:35Speaker 1: and they would never call him for it.
- 27:38Speaker 2: They held so many times I lost can I actually
- 27:40Speaker 2: wrote down six two were so egregious and I know
- 27:45Speaker 2: that they'll send him into the league. Well, it's not
- 27:47Speaker 2: going to change it. You can't challenge a flag, so
- 27:50Speaker 2: the game's over. But there were but you know what,
- 27:53Speaker 2: also also there are a couple plays that the Bucks
- 27:58Speaker 2: could have been called for but hey, is this saying goes?
- 28:00Speaker 2: They didn't call it, so it's not a penalty or
- 28:02Speaker 2: a couple of them were called. But what but uh,
- 28:05Speaker 2: you know defensively, Look, it's it's one of these things
- 28:08Speaker 2: that we knew they had a pressure problem, which we
- 28:11Speaker 2: talked about all off season. One of my concerns was
- 28:14Speaker 2: with Jaylex Hunts not ready to be a pass rusher.
- 28:16Speaker 2: He clearly is not. He really shouldn't be starting. But
- 28:20Speaker 2: they don't have anybody else right now who could rush
- 28:21Speaker 2: the passer, and Zadarius Smith, as we expected, started Well,
- 28:27Speaker 2: we'll ask Greg what the tape looked like from his
- 28:29Speaker 2: standpoint in terms of who got in at all? Did
- 28:31Speaker 2: anyone get any pressure? Carter did not have a good
- 28:34Speaker 2: game the previous week until late in the game.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Mm hm.
- 28:36Speaker 2: He definitely got hurt Bybran and Young was it you
- 28:38Speaker 2: saw him play? Ushi had a couple of nice rushes,
- 28:41Speaker 2: but but they missed They missed a couple where they
- 28:44Speaker 2: got thought and then the Baker scrambled man. They have
- 28:47Speaker 2: to get him pull him down.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Yeah, well, sometimes you gotta tip your hat like that.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Felt like Eli Manning in the Super Bowl against the
- 28:54Speaker 1: Patriot I was wondering if Tom Brady was gonna say
- 28:57Speaker 1: tye again.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Yeah exactly, yeah, yeah.
- 29:00Speaker 1: So But hey, on that note, though, John Campbell, right,
- 29:06Speaker 1: I know there are people who expect that Campbell will
- 29:09Speaker 1: move to the edge when Nikobe d comes back to
- 29:12Speaker 1: give the Eagles that edge pressure that we're talking about
- 29:15Speaker 1: that they need. But I don't know, man, he is.
- 29:18Speaker 1: He is so valuable to their pressure scheme right now
- 29:21Speaker 1: as a blitzer from the second level and in his coverage,
- 29:26Speaker 1: I mean he picks off Baker Mayfield that the most
- 29:28Speaker 1: important juncture in the game. He had a huge hit
- 29:32Speaker 1: on the irving to help cause a fumble. He j
- 29:35Speaker 1: Alex Hunt was in this. Yeah, Hunt didn't get enough
- 29:38Speaker 1: credit because Hunt was also hitting him at the same time.
- 29:40Speaker 1: But either way, like the way he and Bond are
- 29:44Speaker 1: playing that second level right now, at both elite levels,
- 29:47Speaker 1: you can't take him out of there.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Bond's an incredible football player, just an incredible football This
- 29:53Speaker 2: is one of the all time Eagles stories. Certainly for
- 29:55Speaker 2: as long as you and I have could cover this
- 29:56Speaker 2: team in the league, I've not seen anything like this before.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Market You know, we've talked about my lot of but
- 30:01Speaker 2: that's a little. That's well, it's been a football player's
- 30:04Speaker 2: whole life, where my lot it hasn't been. But to
- 30:06Speaker 2: do what he's doing in a position he's not familiar
- 30:08Speaker 2: with is simply incredible. Bobby King a great coach. Ringo, look,
- 30:13Speaker 2: I'll tell you. Look, Mike Evans didn't play, and then,
- 30:14Speaker 2: obviously is a major factor of not denying it. Obviously
- 30:17Speaker 2: it changed the way the Eagles could play them. But Ringo,
- 30:20Speaker 2: for the most part, unless we're told otherwise, held his own.
- 30:23Speaker 2: I thought he did a nice job. But well, we'll
- 30:25Speaker 2: see what Greg thought. He gave up and other sources
- 30:27Speaker 2: who grade the tape for us, Yeah, see what they thought.
- 30:30Speaker 2: But it wasn't a disaster that we absolutely know.
- 30:33Speaker 1: Yeah, he held his own, and he held a little
- 30:35Speaker 1: bit of Chris Godwin a little too much.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Hey, hey, you know what, you know what they got
- 30:40Speaker 2: away with some Now now it's on tape, they're gonna
- 30:44Speaker 2: look for it. The wrest will look for it. But
- 30:47Speaker 2: the bottom line is it was not a disaster. You know,
- 30:49Speaker 2: I'm sure Eagle fans were coming in like, uh oh,
- 30:51Speaker 2: we know Evans isn't playing, but they got Godwin back.
- 30:55Speaker 2: They targeted the hell out of him, but they held
- 30:56Speaker 2: him tore three for twenty six or ten targets. That's
- 30:58Speaker 2: a great job by the gene was on him. Abuka Okay,
- 31:03Speaker 2: the one big play on that he didn't do anything.
- 31:05Speaker 2: So there are a lot of good stories defensively. Now
- 31:07Speaker 2: they almost choked it, but at the end, the offense
- 31:11Speaker 2: handed the defense the job to win the game, and
- 31:13Speaker 2: they did.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Now, you gotta what the Eagles turnover. They've had a
- 31:18Speaker 1: turnover in every single game so far, and and all
- 31:22Speaker 1: of them have seen to been like monument monumental when
- 31:25Speaker 1: they happen. You go back to week one, the Miles
- 31:27Speaker 1: Sanders fumble right as they were going they were deep
- 31:31Speaker 1: in the Eagles territory there, felt like they were going
- 31:33Speaker 1: in with all the momentum. Then he fumbled. Week two,
- 31:36Speaker 1: Travis Kelcey mcouba picks off the pass that Travis drops
- 31:39Speaker 1: as he's trying to go in to the end zone.
- 31:42Speaker 1: And then of course the Rams you get the opening
- 31:45Speaker 1: drive interception that stakes them to a lead, which was
- 31:48Speaker 1: really important at that time because they were about to
- 31:50Speaker 1: go through a really rough stretch of offense. And then
- 31:53Speaker 1: two obviously in this game that are absolutely huge. So
- 31:58Speaker 1: I think that this has been a very I don't
- 32:00Speaker 1: want to say underrated because we talk about it, but
- 32:03Speaker 1: all four of their wins this year have come by
- 32:05Speaker 1: a combined twenty points. All four have been by one possession.
- 32:08Speaker 1: And if you go back and look at those twenty
- 32:10Speaker 1: of twenty one wins that they've had, almost sixty to
- 32:13Speaker 1: seventy percent of them are by one possession or you know,
- 32:17Speaker 1: eight points or fewer. So these turnovers are coming in.
- 32:21Speaker 1: They're just so bad. I know coaches say that if
- 32:23Speaker 1: you win the turnover battle, and especially on the road,
- 32:26Speaker 1: you'll win like seventy five percent of the games. Well,
- 32:28Speaker 1: the Eagles are showing you can win like ninety five
- 32:30Speaker 1: percent of the games by doing it.
- 32:32Speaker 2: It's been I have hurt you again, clean game. Didn't
- 32:35Speaker 2: turn it over, right, They'll continue to work with them
- 32:38Speaker 2: and figure out what what's going to take to play
- 32:41Speaker 2: complete game offense. Ive not won elite half in two
- 32:44Speaker 2: different games. I mean, it's kind of weird, right, but again,
- 32:47Speaker 2: they want it. There's a lot to feel good about that.
- 32:50Speaker 2: We know what the issues are. They're the same as
- 32:52Speaker 2: we've told you all off season. Pass rush and corner
- 32:54Speaker 2: opposite Mitchell. But again ringo hel hell zone. We thought
- 32:59Speaker 2: you also have the t the fumble recovery, which is
- 33:01Speaker 2: a big give him credit for that. We know he's
- 33:02Speaker 2: an elite special teams player. But you know how he's
- 33:06Speaker 2: how he's chure to the trade de line is find
- 33:10Speaker 2: some team that's really bad that's willing to give them.
- 33:14Speaker 2: I know it's a lot to ask for, but how
- 33:15Speaker 2: he loves trading draft picks. Sure find it. Find some
- 33:19Speaker 2: pass rusher if you've got to give, you know, you
- 33:22Speaker 2: could give away draft picks, some young player you're not
- 33:25Speaker 2: going to use. They need another they got they need
- 33:27Speaker 2: a corner badly. I know. It's I mean, you could
- 33:30Speaker 2: be patient. They have three four weeks to evaluate this
- 33:32Speaker 2: to the trade deadline, but sure they are four and
- 33:35Speaker 2: oh you've got to feel good about that. Uh. They
- 33:38Speaker 2: have an interesting schedule coming up here. But the bottom
- 33:40Speaker 2: line is they knocked the They knocked the Bucks off.
- 33:43Speaker 2: They want to Tampa, which has always been difficult for them.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Right now, the undefeated teams are the Bills, the Colts
- 33:51Speaker 2: as we speak, because we're you know, we're getting the
- 33:54Speaker 2: show up quickly, the Eagles, and the Niners. That's it, man, Wow,
- 33:59Speaker 2: that tells you man, Eagles are really, really good. I'm
- 34:02Speaker 2: glad you brought up what they've done because we lose
- 34:03Speaker 2: tracks sometimes when we're critical of how great this football
- 34:07Speaker 2: team is, how well they're coached. It's never gonna be perfect.
- 34:09Speaker 2: No team isn't out of thirty two, but they have
- 34:12Speaker 2: some things they internally are in charge of it clean up.
- 34:14Speaker 2: There's no question.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Yeah, you gotta cherish it. Well, you got it. It's
- 34:17Speaker 1: not gonna last forever, but it could last for a
- 34:19Speaker 1: really long time here and it's been about two years,
- 34:22Speaker 1: and we will see where that takes the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 34:25Speaker 1: This week, we've got we're gonna have great coverage of
- 34:28Speaker 1: course to check O dailies, and we're gonna have Birds
- 34:30Speaker 1: Weekly with Ray Didninger and Derek Gunn. We'll have our
- 34:34Speaker 1: WBCB show on Tuesday night. We'll have who well what else?
- 34:38Speaker 1: We got Inside the Tape with Greg Cozell in two parts,
- 34:42Speaker 1: so a whole lot of great content Inside the Data
- 34:45Speaker 1: with Sam Finkel. So make sure you're staying tuned here
- 34:48Speaker 1: to the Inside the Birds platform. That's gonna do it
- 34:50Speaker 1: for Inside the Birds postgame for Adam Kaplan. I'm Jeff
- 34:54Speaker 1: Moscher we'll catch you on the next one.
- 35:00Speaker 2: O
