- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from the very quiet dark porch this
- 0:32morning. I'm shooting out here early
- 0:36because we are the day after the storm and we have so much.
- 0:42There's just crap everywhere, to be honest, all around the
- 0:45property, girls are still locked up.
- 0:49It's dark and nice and quiet. So I'm out here because I think
- 0:53that I, I, this yesterday was a very interesting day to say the
- 0:58least. And when we were dealing with
- 1:02all of the morning, we missed yesterday's podcast.
- 1:05So we couldn't, I couldn't. There was no way that I was
- 1:09going to be able to get anything up yesterday and it was insane.
- 1:13We had 44 tornado warnings in a very short period of time for
- 1:19that many over the course of four, roughly 4 hours here.
- 1:24And it was by far the scariest thing that I have lived through
- 1:30weather wise in a very long time.
- 1:33I didn't grow up in an area where there are tornadoes and I,
- 1:39the area I grew up in north, the Northeast.
- 1:41So the weather there is very you, you know, when it's coming,
- 1:45they tell you it's going to be a hurricane, it's going to be a
- 1:47snowstorm. We don't have mud slides and
- 1:50fires and you know, a tornado warnings, I mean, it doesn't
- 1:54happen. So I didn't grow up with it and
- 1:56I'm not used to it. And here we have the propensity
- 2:01every so often to have tornadoes.
- 2:02We have hurricanes and I'm used to it because we can prepare for
- 2:05it. We understand what we're going
- 2:06into and my certainty girl loves that.
- 2:09But tornadoes, not so much. We knew it was going to happen.
- 2:14We knew it could happen. We knew there was a high, high
- 2:16probability of it happening. And it was scary as you can
- 2:22imagine. The alarm started going off in
- 2:24the middle of the night on our phones.
- 2:27Waking up, we were huddled in the bathroom.
- 2:30The dogs could not get the cat to come in the room with the
- 2:32dogs. And I was so upset because I
- 2:35could not get the cat to come in the room with us and she just,
- 2:39you know, cats. Need I say anymore?
- 2:41I'm trying to chase her around and I've got.
- 2:45Strangely enough, we did not lose our power at that point.
- 2:48And I could see the news on the television and could see that
- 2:53these tornadoes were dropping all all around us like they were
- 2:57coming off the water and they were dropping off all around us,
- 3:012 streets away, one St. away. And it was insane.
- 3:05They were moving fast and furious.
- 3:07And for someone who is very certainty driven, and that's
- 3:11what this is about today, having no control and not being able to
- 3:14know how to do this, this thing in in tornado world, not having
- 3:20a basement in our house, it is extremely unnerving.
- 3:25And I found myself physically shaking.
- 3:28And my son actually said to me, are you OK?
- 3:31And I was like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:33I was I but I was physically shaking.
- 3:35There was so much energy in my body because I was so nervous
- 3:38about what to do and how to go through it.
- 3:40And just getting in there and actually sitting down on the
- 3:44bathroom floor and then waiting and listening, it is so scary
- 3:48because you're waiting to hear the sound and all you can hear
- 3:51is the driving rain coming so hard.
- 3:54And it's a complete, you have to just surrender to the process.
- 4:00And in, in that moment, in that moment of sitting on the floor
- 4:03worrying that I couldn't get the cat, that the Tornadoes are all
- 4:06around us, that I'm shaking from head to toe, that my certainty
- 4:09girl is flipping out in my head because I don't know.
- 4:12And, and I can't tell my daughter does not.
- 4:14My daughter is married and does not live with us.
- 4:16And I'm trying to figure out if she's OK.
- 4:19She's about 20 minutes from me. And I'm trying to figure this
- 4:23all out. And I can feel the energy in my
- 4:26body and I, I tried very hard to control that energy at that
- 4:32moment, bringing it back down and focusing on we are OK, we
- 4:35are OK, we are OK. Not sitting there saying I hope
- 4:39we're OK with panic. And that's what I really wanted
- 4:42to emphasize today was the key to me settling myself down was
- 4:46not saying I hope we are OK, I hope we are OK.
- 4:51It was going into an energy of deep prayer knowing we were OK
- 4:57and as soon as I started to go into that and get out of my
- 5:00certainty girl head, everything started to change and I started
- 5:03to feel better. Now, maybe it would have been a
- 5:06false outcome if we had been hit, but we were not hit.
- 5:11And I was able to control my emotion in the moment much
- 5:14better by doing it that way. So I thought, you know, this is
- 5:18a worthy share today to let everybody know about a real
- 5:20world event where I had to put my own tactics to a test and a
- 5:26deep test. And boy does it work.
- 5:28So again, it's not about saying we are going to be OK because
- 5:32that is in that emotion of trying to control.
- 5:35That is in that emotion of panic or desperation.
- 5:39Instead, I went to seeing it as if it was done, knowing we were
- 5:45OK, we are OK, we are OK. And all of a sudden everything
- 5:51melted away and it was. I was able to get contained.
- 5:54Now, was I still shaky? Yes, because my body had so much
- 5:57energy in it and I was shaking like a leaf.
- 5:59But I was able to pull it back together.
- 6:01So luckily they're out of here and we are praying for all our
- 6:04friends up this entire corridor that this beast of a storm
- 6:08Helene just ran through. Our friends in North Carolina
- 6:13who are cut off from the world in Asheville right now.
- 6:16And say prayers for everybody, my friends, because they need it
- 6:20right now. The mountains are not used to
- 6:23getting this much water and this is really, really rough.
- 6:26So send blessings and I hope you have a blessed day as well.
- 6:32Bye.
