- 0:01Speaker 1: And Mark on demand by setting up pre sad for
- 0:04Speaker 1: his podcast on the iHeartRadio Act.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Now back to Mark Simone on wor.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Hey, let's take some calls. Eight hundred three to two
- 0:15Speaker 1: one and zero seven ten is the number eight hundred
- 0:19Speaker 1: three two one zero seven ten. Let's go to Bill
- 0:22Speaker 1: and Brooklyn. Bill, how you doing, Hi? Mark?
- 0:25Speaker 3: Mark? Did John Batchelor retire?
- 0:28Speaker 2: Uh?
- 0:29Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know. We don't have that
- 0:31Speaker 1: show here anymore. It's still a I think it's a podcast.
- 0:34Speaker 1: You canna listen to it as a as a podcast
- 0:36Speaker 1: if you go online. I think you can probably find it.
- 0:39Speaker 1: But we got a much better show. He was good,
- 0:40Speaker 1: John Batchelor. We've got a much better show nine o'clock
- 0:43Speaker 1: Jimmy Fayla every night nine to midnight. Have you listened
- 0:46Speaker 1: to it?
- 0:47Speaker 4: Yeah, Jimmy's pretty good.
- 0:48Speaker 2: I used to like John though, used to give you
- 0:49Speaker 2: a history lesson, you know, Anzio and d Day in
- 0:52Speaker 2: the Battle of Bulge and yeah.
- 0:54Speaker 1: No, he's had them very very very good. But Jimmy
- 0:57Speaker 1: fail a fun funny entertainment it. He does a lot
- 1:00Speaker 1: better ratings wise than a history lesson, So it's better
- 1:03Speaker 1: for us. But you just go on any podcast site
- 1:07Speaker 1: type John Batcher. I'm sure his podcast will will come up.
- 1:09Speaker 1: But make sure you listen to Jimmy Fayler every night
- 1:12Speaker 1: nine to midnight. Right here, let's go to Rich in
- 1:15Speaker 1: Myrtle Beach. Rich, How you doing?
- 1:18Speaker 2: Hey? Thanks? Mark. You know Spirit Airlines was the number
- 1:21Speaker 2: one airline of bringing Northern was in New York, New Jersey.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Cannt get down to Myrtle Beach. That's going to be
- 1:25Speaker 2: a big hit for tourism down here this particular summer.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Able to keep some of the wacky liberals up there
- 1:31Speaker 2: and they won't come down here.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Now.
- 1:32Speaker 2: There was a reporting yesterday that Liz Warren. It's funny
- 1:35Speaker 2: somebody brought up the other day that it was a
- 1:37Speaker 2: rake and judge that approved this denial of the merger.
- 1:40Speaker 2: But that means nothing.
- 1:43Speaker 1: This was all Elizabeth Warren, Pete boota judge Murkland.
- 1:46Speaker 2: It was. And there was a report that Liz Warren
- 1:49Speaker 2: sold twenty thousand shares of Spirit stout in the last
- 1:52Speaker 2: time to fourteen days.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I don't know about that. I know that's flying around
- 1:55Speaker 1: all over the internet. I haven't confirmed that. I don't know.
- 1:57Speaker 1: It may not be true, but yeah, it was Elizabeth Warren.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Thanks for calling Elizabeth Warren. She for some reason this
- 2:04Speaker 1: really bugged her, so behind the scenes she was pushing, lobbying, fighting,
- 2:09Speaker 1: battling with everybody in the government to make sure the
- 2:12Speaker 1: merger didn't go through. She blocked it. And buddhaj Edge,
- 2:15Speaker 1: who is an absolute idiot, it was all over television
- 2:18Speaker 1: denouncing the merger, saying it would drive up fares, it
- 2:22Speaker 1: would cost jobs, it would do this with everything they
- 2:24Speaker 1: said it would do, it wouldn't have done. And by
- 2:27Speaker 1: not allowing the merger, they caused the same stuff to happen,
- 2:31Speaker 1: but to an even greater level. So it was just absolute,
- 2:37Speaker 1: just total idiots. And of course Merrick Garland maybe the dirtiest,
- 2:41Speaker 1: sleaziest Attorney General we've ever had. All those fake law
- 2:45Speaker 1: fair cases were him, and he's the one. He's the
- 2:49Speaker 1: one that officially Department of Justice blocked the merger. It
- 2:52Speaker 1: was absolutely ridiculous. Now there's a couple of top Democratic
- 2:57Speaker 1: commentators who have actually said that that blocking that merger
- 3:02Speaker 1: was a mistake, and apparently they're getting hounded by everybody
- 3:06Speaker 1: in democratic world online for admitting that. Let's go to
- 3:09Speaker 1: lou In Union, New Jersey, lou How you doing well?
- 3:13Speaker 3: Good morning, Mark. I just want like a comment about
- 3:15Speaker 3: the John Storrings person. When he was an announcer for
- 3:18Speaker 3: the eighties in the Boosts for years on TV, and
- 3:21Speaker 3: then Michael Kake came along. It wasn't that a demotion
- 3:25Speaker 3: for study today on radio?
- 3:27Speaker 2: Uh?
- 3:28Speaker 1: No, I don't know, not, not really. I mean, he
- 3:31Speaker 1: was a radio guy. He loved radio. His whole career
- 3:33Speaker 1: was in radio.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Yeah, but did you take a cut?
- 3:38Speaker 1: No? No, no, you don't take a cut. But you know,
- 3:40Speaker 1: in the good old days, it was the nineteen fifties
- 3:42Speaker 1: or sixties or seventies, even the eighties, you'd wanted to
- 3:45Speaker 1: be on TV. You probably had more people hearing you
- 3:48Speaker 1: on TV than on the radio. But nowadays it's the opposite.
- 3:51Speaker 1: There are more people listening to the radio than watching TV.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Radio listening is up. TV viewership is way way down,
- 3:57Speaker 1: especially network TV. But now he was he was very
- 4:01Speaker 1: happy with doing radio. You know, it's nice to be
- 4:04Speaker 1: on TV. But you really, nobody really sees you. I guess,
- 4:07Speaker 1: you know, if it rains, then they come to there's
- 4:09Speaker 1: a shot of you in the booth. But I'd say
- 4:11Speaker 1: that you just you're just audio you're not a video
- 4:14Speaker 1: and again you probably have more listeners today on the
- 4:16Speaker 1: radio than on TV. Let's go to Bill in New Jersey, Bill,
- 4:19Speaker 1: how you doing okay?
- 4:22Speaker 4: Thank you?
- 4:22Speaker 3: Mark.
- 4:22Speaker 4: You know this show tonight the Met Gala. They should
- 4:26Speaker 4: definitely change the name from met Gala to the Nut Gallery.
- 4:29Speaker 4: It's definitely for IQ TV viewers where people spend thousands
- 4:34Speaker 4: and thousands of dollars to come out and look like
- 4:37Speaker 4: freaks with those stupid ass clothes on, and you probably
- 4:40Speaker 4: will not find will not find one republic in the group.
- 4:44Speaker 4: In the group, including Meryl Streep, who is very talented,
- 4:50Speaker 4: but she's very homely. I mean she looks very nice. Yeah,
- 4:55Speaker 4: we'll take that makeup off and you know, painting makeup.
- 5:01Speaker 1: They went to cast her in Baywatch. But she's pretty
- 5:05Speaker 1: pretty nice looking, I mean, very handsome woman. When you're
- 5:09Speaker 1: attractive but not in a really hot way, they call
- 5:12Speaker 1: you a handsome woman. She was, yeah, I know what
- 5:16Speaker 1: you're saying. Yeah, again, the good old days of the
- 5:19Speaker 1: Met Galley, you'd go there and you'd walk around the
- 5:21Speaker 1: room and there was Michael Bloomberg, and there was Henry Cravis,
- 5:24Speaker 1: and there was Ron Perlman, and there was all the
- 5:27Speaker 1: top business people. There was Henry Kissinger and his wife.
- 5:30Speaker 1: They were all the top society people. You'd see Princess
- 5:33Speaker 1: Diana there. And as they say, why the transition, why
- 5:39Speaker 1: did they get rid of that? Go to this crowd? Well,
- 5:42Speaker 1: those people are all dead, or they're too old, or
- 5:44Speaker 1: they don't come anymore. And they went to this crowd.
- 5:47Speaker 1: And the truth is, you can get more money out
- 5:50Speaker 1: of these people. They throw around recklessly, more money. So
- 5:54Speaker 1: instead of fifty thousand a table, now it's five hundred
- 5:57Speaker 1: thousand a table, and they're getting it. So and make
- 6:00Speaker 1: a lot of money with these people. And you know,
- 6:04Speaker 1: back then it was real fashion. You don't get the
- 6:06Speaker 1: Met Gala. They'd be one year honoring Ralph Lauren or
- 6:09Speaker 1: somebody like that, and now you don't know what the hell.
- 6:12Speaker 1: It's called costume art, and you're right, it's like Halloween costumes.
- 6:16Speaker 1: But you know, that was the other thing about the
- 6:18Speaker 1: Met Gala. All the billionaires in society people are gone,
- 6:20Speaker 1: and so are the is the fashion world really people
- 6:23Speaker 1: don't dress up anymore. There's no more suits and ties.
- 6:26Speaker 1: People dress crazy in real life, so you might as
- 6:29Speaker 1: well do that for the Met Gala. She's not wrong.
- 6:31Speaker 1: It's making more money than it ever did. Made thirty
- 6:33Speaker 1: one million last year with Bezos kicking in ten million.
- 6:37Speaker 1: It'll probably make thirty five million this year. So it's tonight. Hey,
- 6:41Speaker 1: when we come back, Michael Goodwin will be with us.
- 6:45Speaker 1: We'll talk to him next on seven to ten. Wo
- 6:49Speaker 1: oh oh, nobody told me Michael Goodwin's got the day off.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Michael Goodwin's got the day off. Liz Peak will be
- 6:57Speaker 1: with us next. Another brilliant columnists. She's our other Michael Goodwin.
- 7:03Speaker 1: She's great, brilliant writer. But we'll talk to her next
- 7:07Speaker 1: on seven to ten. Wor
