- 0:57Speaker 2: Now here's a quick reminder that you can have the
- 1:00Speaker 2: latest edition of this podcast delivered right to your phone, tablet,
- 1:03Speaker 2: or computer by subscribing wherever you get your podcasts. It's
- 1:08Speaker 2: the greatest thing since a money making idea for a
- 1:12Speaker 2: Cincinnati restaurant. My son Sam is a student at the
- 1:16Speaker 2: University of Colorado, and one of his favorite things to
- 1:19Speaker 2: eat there is a breakfast sandwich sold at the Deli Zone.
- 1:23Speaker 2: What makes it so good Well, in addition to the
- 1:26Speaker 2: usual bacon, egg and cheese or sausage egg and cheese,
- 1:30Speaker 2: the Deli Zone adds hash browns, not on the side,
- 1:35Speaker 2: but right in the sandwich. I have never seen that
- 1:38Speaker 2: on a menu in Cincinnati or anywhere else that I've lived,
- 1:41Speaker 2: and I'm not sure that I've ever wanted to try
- 1:44Speaker 2: anything more, especially if the breakfast meat is the Cincinnati
- 1:48Speaker 2: favorite getta. So if you run a Cincinnati breakfast joint
- 1:54Speaker 2: or know somebody that does, and want that restaurant to
- 1:57Speaker 2: make a bundle, add hash brown to your breakfast sandwich
- 2:02Speaker 2: and let me know about it. I can guarantee at
- 2:05Speaker 2: least one frequent customer. Now time for the radio replays
- 2:10Speaker 2: from Sunday's twenty four point route in Miami. Merry Christmas,
- 2:16Speaker 2: Happy Hanukkah, and greetings from tropical Miami, where the sun
- 2:20Speaker 2: is shining and the temperature is seventy nine degrees as
- 2:24Speaker 2: the Bengals look to win their final road game, of
- 2:26Speaker 2: the year as they take on the Miami Dolphins, and
- 2:30Speaker 2: it is time for the pig skin to fly here
- 2:33Speaker 2: at hard Rock Stadium. First and ten Bengals from their
- 2:36Speaker 2: own nine. Burrow throws it deep downfield. T Higgins high
- 2:40Speaker 2: points the ball and makes the catch at the forty
- 2:43Speaker 2: five yard line.
- 2:45Speaker 1: First and goal from the nine for Cincinnati.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Burrow in the gun back at the fourteen Chase Brown
- 2:51Speaker 2: off his right hip. Burrow catches the shotgun snap, looking right,
- 2:54Speaker 2: throws into the end zone for Higgins.
- 2:56Speaker 1: He's done it.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Touchdown Bengals. T Higgins, with a great adjustment to the ball,
- 3:04Speaker 2: then drops to his knees and praise to a higher
- 3:08Speaker 2: power after making a great catch on that throw from
- 3:12Speaker 2: Joe Burrow.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Unbelievable play by T. Higgins. He showed everything. He showed
- 3:15Speaker 3: his size, he showed his athleticism, he showed his soft hand.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Yours under center eighth and seven yards behind, tossed to
- 3:23Speaker 2: the left eighth and finds a hole to thirty five
- 3:26Speaker 2: thirty twenty five twenty fifteen ten five touchdown Miami. The
- 3:33Speaker 2: NFL's fastest running back shows off his speed as the
- 3:38Speaker 2: Dolphins are a pat away from tying the game. This
- 3:41Speaker 2: will be a forty five yard field goal attempt for
- 3:43Speaker 2: the lead from the right hash Mark Ryan Rico will hold,
- 3:48Speaker 2: Rookie Will Wagner will snap. Money Back is ready the
- 3:52Speaker 2: snap the placement and money Man's kicked on its way
- 3:55Speaker 2: and hits the left upright and it bounces through the
- 4:00Speaker 2: ricochet pays off as money Match struck the upright but
- 4:04Speaker 2: struck it on the inside portion and it carried right
- 4:08Speaker 2: into the middle for a successful field goal. He has
- 4:11Speaker 2: not missed from inside of fifty yards this year.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Unbelievable, Just like he planned it.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Second down from the Cincinnati ten viewers with an end
- 4:21Speaker 2: around Malik Washington to the five and cruises into the
- 4:25Speaker 2: end zone for the touchdown. Misdirection has killed Cincinnati all season,
- 4:32Speaker 2: and Malik Washington cruises in for the go ahead touchdown.
- 4:36Speaker 3: And boy, that was just a perfectly time call.
- 4:39Speaker 2: On first and goal, Burrow hands it off, pe Ryan hesitates,
- 4:43Speaker 2: accelerates them scores as he goes in standing up for
- 4:47Speaker 2: the go ahead touchdown.
- 4:49Speaker 3: He would have scored from anywhere, really, I mean, there
- 4:51Speaker 3: was a short yardage goal line. There was a great
- 4:54Speaker 3: blocking up front by the Bengals offensive line. They creased
- 4:58Speaker 3: the Miami Dolphins. I mean they moved he people up front.
- 5:01Speaker 3: That's tough to do. Shortyarde goal line situation. Samaj p
- 5:04Speaker 3: RN scores easily.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Now it's third down and fourteen, the Dolphins at their
- 5:08Speaker 2: own twenty six.
- 5:09Speaker 1: They'll go with an empty backfield.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Barrett Carter moving from the middle of the field out
- 5:14Speaker 2: toward the slot.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Here's a throw of the middle. It is caught.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Ballstock freeze and the Bengals appear to have it. He
- 5:20Speaker 2: got got the thirty four yard line of Miami.
- 5:22Speaker 1: They do. The ball was punched away.
- 5:25Speaker 2: The fumble recover by the defense. First down and the
- 5:30Speaker 2: Bengals get the first takeaway of the game, first and
- 5:33Speaker 2: goal from the nine.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Cincinnati up by three.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Here in the third quarter, it's an empty backfield and
- 5:37Speaker 2: a shotgun snap.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Burrow throws left caught at the five.
- 5:40Speaker 2: What a move by Chase Brown as he spun around,
- 5:44Speaker 2: deeked his defender and chuck it across the goal line
- 5:48Speaker 2: for a Bengals touchdown. He made one of the best
- 5:51Speaker 2: tacklers in the NFL.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Jordan Brooks whiff he did.
- 5:56Speaker 3: I mean that was an unbelievable pitvot move.
- 5:58Speaker 1: On third and ten, He's gonna fire middle of the field.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Knocked over in the air.
- 6:02Speaker 2: He had intercepted Barrett Carter the Rokiata Clemson running it
- 6:06Speaker 2: back to the forty. He gets tackled at the thirty five,
- 6:09Speaker 2: and we called it. If you force this kid to
- 6:12Speaker 2: throw sooner or later, you're going to get your hands
- 6:15Speaker 2: on the football. First and ten for the Miami twelve.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Chase goes in motion. Furrow hands it off big hole
- 6:21Speaker 2: middle of the field. Chase Brown swerving between the hashmots,
- 6:25Speaker 2: and he scores on a twelve yard touchdown run to
- 6:30Speaker 2: give Cincinnati a thirty to fourteen lead. Third down in
- 6:34Speaker 2: three from the five yard line of Miami, play clock
- 6:37Speaker 2: down to six.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Burrow in the gun.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Chase Brown lines up to his left, play clock at
- 6:41Speaker 2: two one.
- 6:42Speaker 1: They snap it back to Burrow.
- 6:44Speaker 2: He throws to the right wide open is Chase Brown
- 6:47Speaker 2: no defender nearby. He catches it near the forward right
- 6:52Speaker 2: pylon for his third touchdown of the day.
- 6:55Speaker 3: The Miami Dolphins sideline is disgusted and just pointed in disillusion.
- 7:02Speaker 3: I don't know what other d words, but Chase Brown
- 7:05Speaker 3: just comes in motion and then just turns it up
- 7:07Speaker 3: the football field runs a little out route and nobody
- 7:10Speaker 3: covers them.
- 7:11Speaker 2: The running back is a chan Youwers drops back to throw,
- 7:15Speaker 2: begin scrambling right, floats it high and deep down the field.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Intercepted another takeaway for Cincinnati. Jalen Davis with the pick,
- 7:25Speaker 2: and the Bengals defense is having its best quarter in ages.
- 7:31Speaker 3: It might be in team history. Three takeaways in a
- 7:34Speaker 3: fourth down stop in one quarter.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Third down and six. The Bengals have it. At the
- 7:39Speaker 2: seventeen of Miami. Burrow catches a shotgun snap, three step
- 7:42Speaker 2: drop throws, Kasiki have to go, line leaps head hauls
- 7:47Speaker 2: it in for the touchdown. Mike Kasiki doing the gritty
- 7:52Speaker 2: as the Bengals have scored forty four points.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Unbelievable.
- 7:57Speaker 2: The lineup in epistol formation for the final play of
- 8:00Speaker 2: the game. Unless it's an incomplete pass, it's a handoff
- 8:04Speaker 2: to right, trying to bounce it left. He's got the
- 8:06Speaker 2: first down, he'll be wrapped up. The officials blow the
- 8:10Speaker 2: play dead and that will do it, yes, as the
- 8:15Speaker 2: final four seconds will run off the clock.
- 8:20Speaker 1: In the final road game of the year.
- 8:21Speaker 2: The Cincinnati Bengals hopefully have given their fans a taste
- 8:25Speaker 2: of what's to come in twenty twenty six as they
- 8:29Speaker 2: crush the Miami Dolphins by the final score of forty
- 8:32Speaker 2: five to twenty one. One week after having a passer
- 8:36Speaker 2: rating of fifty eight point two, Joe Burrow's rating was
- 8:40Speaker 2: one forty six point five, the second highest of his career,
- 8:44Speaker 2: and the forty five points the Bengals put on the
- 8:47Speaker 2: board is the most they've ever scored with Burrow at quarterback.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Dave Lapham talked to him one on one after the game.
- 8:55Speaker 3: How do you feel like you played today?
- 8:58Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 8:58Speaker 5: I thought pretty well.
- 9:01Speaker 6: You know, I just took what was there, and our
- 9:03Speaker 6: guys are making plays down the field with the ball.
- 9:06Speaker 3: In their hands. You know, I got greedy once or twice.
- 9:10Speaker 6: But I thought, for the most part, is a pretty
- 9:12Speaker 6: clean game.
- 9:13Speaker 3: Unbelievable day twenty five of thirty two. I think that's
- 9:17Speaker 3: a seventy three percent completion percentage or something thereabouts, three
- 9:22Speaker 3: hundred and nine yards passing, four touchdowns, no interceptions. That's
- 9:27Speaker 3: a that's a hell of a hell of a stat line.
- 9:30Speaker 3: What did you see out there? What with the Miami
- 9:32Speaker 3: Dolphins trying to do well?
- 9:33Speaker 6: They played a little single high early and t got
- 9:36Speaker 6: him out of it. He had two big plays early on.
- 9:38Speaker 6: That's kind of set the tone for the rest of
- 9:40Speaker 6: the game. And then we just got a lot of
- 9:42Speaker 6: soft zone after that. So then after that we just
- 9:44Speaker 6: started dinking and duncan and making plays after the catch.
- 9:47Speaker 3: The third quarter, you ever been part of a third
- 9:49Speaker 3: quarter like that? I mean the defense just turned them
- 9:52Speaker 3: over three times. They had a stop on fourth down.
- 9:55Speaker 3: I mean they didn't score a point and you guys
- 9:58Speaker 3: scored I think it was twenty four downs and kicked
- 10:00Speaker 3: the field goal. I mean, you've ever been in a
- 10:02Speaker 3: quarter is dominant? Is that one?
- 10:04Speaker 6: The defense is making plays like that. You have a
- 10:06Speaker 6: short field, you gotta convert.
- 10:08Speaker 3: You know, we were able to convert.
- 10:10Speaker 6: On on all four of those opportunities, So that felt great.
- 10:13Speaker 6: But it's fun watching these these young defensive players find
- 10:16Speaker 6: their groove and keep getting better.
- 10:18Speaker 3: You mentioned the team played well, got them out of
- 10:20Speaker 3: that cover one. Your your running mate Jamar Chase was
- 10:24Speaker 3: outstanding again, But I mean he's outstanding every week. The guy,
- 10:28Speaker 3: the guy's the best, he's the best in the league.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Having a one to two punch like that, what does
- 10:34Speaker 3: that do for your offense?
- 10:35Speaker 6: It just opens everything up. You know, they really, defenses
- 10:38Speaker 6: have to build their game plan around those guys, and
- 10:41Speaker 6: we know that and they know that, and so we
- 10:43Speaker 6: can execute plays based on that, and we have everything
- 10:49Speaker 6: in our back pocket, know what to get to when
- 10:52Speaker 6: you know, we face all these different kinds of coverages.
- 10:55Speaker 6: We faced basically everyone that you could see over the
- 10:58Speaker 6: last four or five and you know, we've done a
- 11:02Speaker 6: good job building the packages to attack all these certain
- 11:07Speaker 6: coverages that we see based on those two guys.
- 11:09Speaker 3: And finally, Joe, you mentioned your coaches put together great
- 11:13Speaker 3: game plans for you guys, you know, every week in
- 11:16Speaker 3: order to take advantage of all the all the talent
- 11:18Speaker 3: and weapons that you've got. Talk about your coaches a
- 11:21Speaker 3: little bit.
- 11:22Speaker 6: Yeah, obviously there's a lot said about this team in
- 11:26Speaker 6: this organization, and they did those coaches, but you know,
- 11:29Speaker 6: nobody works harder than those guys to put us in
- 11:31Speaker 6: good spots to go and execute. I think we have
- 11:34Speaker 6: some of the best coaches in the NFL. I think
- 11:37Speaker 6: the game plans that we put together put us in
- 11:38Speaker 6: a great spot to succeed.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Couldn't agree with you more. Joe, as always appreciate you.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Thanks for your time.
- 11:43Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Thanks, Lot Burrow's favorite target was Jim R. Chase, who
- 11:47Speaker 2: had nine catches for one hundred and nine yards, and
- 11:50Speaker 2: Chase Brown also accounted for one hundred and nine yards
- 11:53Speaker 2: sixty six rushing and forty three receiving. Brown scored three
- 11:58Speaker 2: touchdowns for the first time I'm in his NFL career.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Chase was this the all around performance this team has
- 12:05Speaker 2: been looking for all year?
- 12:07Speaker 5: I think so.
- 12:08Speaker 8: I mean, the defense came out with turnovers and we
- 12:11Speaker 8: were able to respond to every single one, So that
- 12:13Speaker 8: always feels good.
- 12:15Speaker 7: We'd love to carry.
- 12:16Speaker 8: This momentum going forward and just finish off the season.
- 12:19Speaker 3: The best weekend?
- 12:20Speaker 2: Was it a game where you were almost surprised how
- 12:22Speaker 2: quickly the offense was back on the field. They were
- 12:25Speaker 2: not only getting turnovers, they were getting them quickly.
- 12:27Speaker 7: Yeah, no, it was.
- 12:28Speaker 8: It was cause I was standing there at times and
- 12:29Speaker 8: I'm like, did you just get the ball back again?
- 12:31Speaker 8: I'm sprinting of in my helmet. So, yeah, they definitely
- 12:34Speaker 8: call me by surprise.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Sometimes no points last week, forty five points this week.
- 12:38Speaker 2: How determined were you guys during the course of this
- 12:41Speaker 2: week at practice to show who you really are on offense?
- 12:44Speaker 8: Yeah, we took it personal. So when everything's firing and
- 12:49Speaker 8: all cylinders. I mean, we're gonna score a lot of points.
- 12:52Speaker 1: So it's all good to go ahead and do that today.
- 12:54Speaker 8: It's just building momentum, even though you know our season
- 12:58Speaker 8: is gonna end not the way we wanted it to,
- 13:00Speaker 8: but you know we can still finish off, you know,
- 13:03Speaker 8: on all plausive.
- 13:04Speaker 2: No, it's great to have t back. Obviously, two big
- 13:07Speaker 2: plays early in the game. It just kind of reinforced,
- 13:10Speaker 2: at least in my mind, the impact that he can
- 13:13Speaker 2: have when he's available.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, she's a great player.
- 13:17Speaker 8: If he's one of the best receivers, if not the best,
- 13:20Speaker 8: we got both of them. We have two of the
- 13:21Speaker 8: best receivers in the NFL right there. That's the only
- 13:23Speaker 8: way to put it. So she's always gonna make a play.
- 13:27Speaker 8: I'm not surprised anytime I see a fifty to fifty
- 13:29Speaker 8: jump ball, it's on fifty to fifty, it's like ninety ten.
- 13:31Speaker 7: So he's a great player.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Does a game like this leave you wanting more, like
- 13:35Speaker 2: almost wishing that, you know there were more games left?
- 13:38Speaker 8: Yeah, we could play all year long without getting hurt
- 13:41Speaker 8: in our bodies, Like we're able to take it. I mean,
- 13:44Speaker 8: I would so feels good then hobby ins like this.
- 13:48Speaker 1: And grat's in a great game. Defensive laid.
- 13:51Speaker 2: The Bengals turned a three point halftime lead into a
- 13:54Speaker 2: blowout by dominating the third quarter, getting two interceptions, forcing
- 13:58Speaker 2: a fumble, and stopping the Dolphins on fourth and one.
- 14:03Speaker 2: The average drive start for the Bengals offense after those
- 14:06Speaker 2: four Miami possessions was the Dolphins forty three and a half.
- 14:10Speaker 2: In Cincinnati took full advantage by scoring four straight touchdowns.
- 14:15Speaker 2: For more on the play of the defense, here's my
- 14:17Speaker 2: conversation with linebacker Barrett Carter. Barrett three takeaways in one quarter.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Describe what it was like. You had one of the interception.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Describe what that third quarter was like for everybody on defense.
- 14:30Speaker 4: Yeah, just coming in a halftime, Coach Taylor just said
- 14:34Speaker 4: that we needed to take the ball away and on offense,
- 14:36Speaker 4: we had to keep the ball away from them.
- 14:38Speaker 7: So, no, that was that's the goal.
- 14:39Speaker 4: That we go into every single game with to try
- 14:41Speaker 4: to be at least plus two and just for us
- 14:44Speaker 4: to you know, come out third quarter swing, come out swinging,
- 14:46Speaker 4: and they'll get the ball back to our offense was
- 14:48Speaker 4: huge and trade a lot of momentu.
- 14:50Speaker 7: For our team, So it's a I'm glad that we
- 14:52Speaker 7: were able to do that. We just have to keep
- 14:54Speaker 7: building on.
- 14:55Speaker 2: A major challenge going into this game with stopping the
- 14:57Speaker 2: running attack. They had the one long time touchdown run
- 15:00Speaker 2: or relieve the game. Other than that three yards per
- 15:03Speaker 2: carry for the rest of the day. How did you
- 15:06Speaker 2: guys do such a good job at stopping the run.
- 15:09Speaker 4: Yeah, we always have to lock in on our keys.
- 15:10Speaker 4: We knew that stopping the run was going to be
- 15:12Speaker 4: the main emphasis this week, and you know Miami, they
- 15:14Speaker 4: do a great job every single week of creating a
- 15:16Speaker 4: lot of ikenny and it makes it very challenging for
- 15:18Speaker 4: a defense. So we knew that it was going to
- 15:20Speaker 4: be a big challenge for us and know we're able
- 15:23Speaker 4: to step up to that challenge.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Describe the excitement level of coming with your first I
- 15:27Speaker 2: MT in the NFL.
- 15:28Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm super exciting. No, I feel like I was
- 15:31Speaker 7: it was long overdue.
- 15:32Speaker 4: I feel like I should have had that many many
- 15:34Speaker 4: weeks ago, but you know, God makes no mistakes. So
- 15:37Speaker 4: I'm just glad I was able to get that for
- 15:38Speaker 4: our team and you know, get the ball back to
- 15:40Speaker 4: our offense.
- 15:40Speaker 7: So Hopefully I can just keep building on that.
- 15:42Speaker 2: You got your first. Jalen Davis got his first as well.
- 15:46Speaker 2: He's had a nice impact since moving up from the
- 15:48Speaker 2: practice squad. Describe what he's done for the defense.
- 15:50Speaker 7: Yeah, JD is such a so savvy.
- 15:53Speaker 4: He's been in the league for however many years has been,
- 15:56Speaker 4: and you know he's been he's just been working every
- 15:58Speaker 4: single day, just waiting for a shot.
- 15:59Speaker 7: And we know he stepped up. He stepped up to
- 16:02Speaker 7: the plate. He wasn't afraid to, you know, come in
- 16:05Speaker 7: and do his thing. And you know, JD's a dog.
- 16:07Speaker 4: It's an honor to get to play alongside him, and
- 16:09Speaker 4: it's a he just flies around and makes play, So
- 16:11Speaker 4: it's a it's a blessing to get to play with JD.
- 16:13Speaker 2: This is one of those games, Parritt, where you guys
- 16:16Speaker 2: excelled in all three phases. Offense scored forty five, defense
- 16:20Speaker 2: gets multiple takeaways. Ryan Rico had four punts inside the twenty.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Did you feel like this was the first time that
- 16:28Speaker 2: you've experienced a total performance by the Bengals.
- 16:32Speaker 7: I feel like it.
- 16:33Speaker 4: It was in bits and pieces, so there were still
- 16:35Speaker 4: a lot of a lot of players left out there
- 16:37Speaker 4: that you know that we needed correct in all phases.
- 16:40Speaker 4: I know all guys can say that, but you know,
- 16:43Speaker 4: we're we're taking We're definitely taking steps in the right direction,
- 16:46Speaker 4: but it's nowhere near what.
- 16:47Speaker 7: We're at what we're capable of doing as a team.
- 16:49Speaker 4: So we just have to, you know, keep keep this
- 16:51Speaker 4: momentum going, keep building on this and you know, the
- 16:54Speaker 4: feeling that we have right now, we have to chase
- 16:56Speaker 4: this feeling every single week and even leading into next
- 16:59Speaker 4: year because we're capable of so much more. But now,
- 17:02Speaker 4: when we play complimentary football, we're capable of doing really
- 17:04Speaker 4: great things and that's what we show today.
- 17:06Speaker 7: But we just have to keep building on.
- 17:07Speaker 2: It's a nice early Christmas present for Bengals fans.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Congratulations on a great win.
- 17:13Speaker 7: Thank you so much, appreciate that.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Good to hear from head coach Zach Taylor, who's spent
- 17:17Speaker 2: a couple of minutes with lap right after the game.
- 17:21Speaker 9: To be in this situation we're in right now, come
- 17:24Speaker 9: down here to vacation weather. Everything feels good. I've coached here.
- 17:28Speaker 9: I've seen a lot of teams fall fat coming out
- 17:30Speaker 9: and for our guys respond and play a complete game
- 17:33Speaker 9: in all three phases, especially with the way they controlled
- 17:35Speaker 9: the second half. Defense came out and got four turnovers
- 17:38Speaker 9: to start the second half, often scored four touchdowns to
- 17:40Speaker 9: start the second half. Special teams is unbelievable. With fuel position,
- 17:44Speaker 9: everyone's out there playing lose, having fun making plays. It
- 17:47Speaker 9: was really really good to see.
- 17:48Speaker 3: I don't think i've ever seen a third quarter like
- 17:50Speaker 3: your team put together today. I mean, three takeaways, stop
- 17:54Speaker 3: on fourth down, you score three touchdowns, kick a field goal.
- 17:57Speaker 3: I mean that's total dominance. That was a buck kicking.
- 18:00Speaker 3: And that's a pretty damn good football team. The Miami Dolphins,
- 18:03Speaker 3: they're pretty solid.
- 18:03Speaker 7: They are.
- 18:04Speaker 9: They've got good talent, they've got a great coaching staff.
- 18:07Speaker 9: They've had a tough season like we have. You know,
- 18:09Speaker 9: but we knew this is gonna be a battle coming in.
- 18:10Speaker 9: We have a ton of respect for him, and I was.
- 18:12Speaker 9: I was proud of the response our guys had.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Talk about coaching staffs, let's talk about yours. You know,
- 18:17Speaker 3: you obviously called a great game. Dan Pitcher put together
- 18:20Speaker 3: a good game plan. Al Golden put together a great
- 18:24Speaker 3: game plan. Defensively, Darren simm has been doing it for
- 18:26Speaker 3: a long time. Special Teams like you mentioned, played at
- 18:29Speaker 3: a real high level, dominated field position, just an overall
- 18:33Speaker 3: totally dominant performance on one unit complimenting the other.
- 18:38Speaker 9: They were absolutely you know, so proud of this coaching
- 18:40Speaker 9: staff for sticking in there and keep coaching these guys
- 18:42Speaker 9: up and getting the most out of them. Appreciate the
- 18:44Speaker 9: players for how they've responded. They've taken the coaching, They've
- 18:46Speaker 9: given great effort. We expect none the least from our guys,
- 18:49Speaker 9: but still you can look around in a lot of
- 18:51Speaker 9: these situations and you don't get all that. So again,
- 18:54Speaker 9: just just proud of the way our guys responding handle
- 18:56Speaker 9: business today.
- 18:57Speaker 3: I think that's the thing I'm going to remember about
- 18:58Speaker 3: this football team. Played twelve years altogether. I know what
- 19:04Speaker 3: it's like when the worm's not going your way, the
- 19:07Speaker 3: worm doesn't turn your way, and you lose close football
- 19:10Speaker 3: games and you're given halasius effort and so doing. These
- 19:13Speaker 3: guys never quit though, never even thought about Quinton. I mean,
- 19:15Speaker 3: it's not even in their vocabulary. How proud are you?
- 19:18Speaker 3: How proud are you of that?
- 19:19Speaker 9: It's just a credit to the men we have in
- 19:21Speaker 9: the locker room. They're going to handle their business. They're
- 19:23Speaker 9: going to play for the guy next to them. So again,
- 19:26Speaker 9: I didn't expect anything less, but it's always great to see.

- 19:49Speaker 1: Of the Bengals.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Now time for their radio guys recap Lap. A little
- 19:55Speaker 2: while ago, I asked t Higgins if this feels like
- 19:57Speaker 2: it could be a preview of what's to come in
- 20:00Speaker 2: twenty twenty six. He said, yes, did it feel that
- 20:03Speaker 2: way to you?
- 20:03Speaker 7: It did?
- 20:04Speaker 3: I think we both felt that a little bit during
- 20:07Speaker 3: the course of the broadcast. I think there's a lot
- 20:09Speaker 3: of pieces that they have got a quarterback, do they ever?
- 20:14Speaker 3: They got multiple wide receivers to build on. I mean
- 20:18Speaker 3: to work with win games with. They have a tight
- 20:21Speaker 3: end group that you can win with. They got a
- 20:22Speaker 3: running back group's going with. The offensive line is solid. Defensively,
- 20:26Speaker 3: there's a little bit more work to do, but you know,
- 20:28Speaker 3: they get an offseason to get that done, get some
- 20:32Speaker 3: veteran free agency in here if they possibly can, and
- 20:34Speaker 3: then the holes that they haven't filled, go ahead and
- 20:37Speaker 3: fill them in the draft, and boy, twenty twenty six
- 20:39Speaker 3: could be very special. It really could.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Some of the young guys that have been pressed into
- 20:43Speaker 2: service on defensive struggled this year, but we've seen them
- 20:47Speaker 2: get better and again today Barrett Carter comes up with
- 20:50Speaker 2: his first interception. Miles Murphy was involved in multiple plays.
- 20:55Speaker 2: We saw a splash play by Shamar Stewart on running
- 20:58Speaker 2: play late in the game.
- 21:00Speaker 1: In the final two weeks of the season.
- 21:01Speaker 2: I would think that's the thing you're hoping to see
- 21:03Speaker 2: more of or the most big plays by some of
- 21:06Speaker 2: those young guys on date.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Couldn't agree more, Dan, I mean, you want to see
- 21:09Speaker 3: the graft continue to rise. I think you know your
- 21:13Speaker 3: rookie year, you definitely pay your dues. I remember Paul
- 21:17Speaker 3: Brown telling us as rookies. He met with the rookies
- 21:20Speaker 3: individually and collectively and said, it's.
- 21:22Speaker 7: Not going to be easy. You're going to struggle.
- 21:24Speaker 3: You're going to pay your dues as rookies, but learn
- 21:26Speaker 3: those lessons, you know, keep those in your mind. Don't
- 21:30Speaker 3: dismiss them, learn from them, and become a better football player.
- 21:33Speaker 3: And then the following year, you're going to get better,
- 21:35Speaker 3: and that's going to continue through the rest of your career,
- 21:37Speaker 3: and hopefully you be playing in the NFL for seven
- 21:40Speaker 3: or eight years. And I think there's more than a
- 21:42Speaker 3: handful of guys that fit that description in this locker room.
- 21:45Speaker 2: As NFL employees, we can't gamble on the games, but
- 21:49Speaker 2: if I could have, I would have made a bet
- 21:51Speaker 2: of any amount of money that Joe Burrow would have
- 21:54Speaker 2: bounced back with a big personal performance. And sure enough,
- 21:57Speaker 2: he goes from the second worst passer rating of his
- 22:00Speaker 2: career to the second best.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Incredible one forty six point whatever it was, four touchdowns,
- 22:06Speaker 3: no interceptions. I mean, that's what it's all about. Taking
- 22:10Speaker 3: care of the football, you know, don't put the ball
- 22:12Speaker 3: in jeopardy, don't turn the football over. And Joe's phenomenal
- 22:15Speaker 3: in that area. He did. He said he had the
- 22:17Speaker 3: worst game that he's ever had. He said that thirty
- 22:22Speaker 3: two teams in the NFL all thirty two would have
- 22:24Speaker 3: lost last week the way he played at the quarterback position.
- 22:27Speaker 3: So you knew he was going to make restitution. You
- 22:31Speaker 3: knew that he was going to make plays. You knew
- 22:33Speaker 3: he was going to have a bounce back performance, and
- 22:35Speaker 3: that's exactly what he did.
- 22:37Speaker 2: The Bengals defense gave up one long run. On the
- 22:40Speaker 2: other carries, it was three yards per carry. You haven't
- 22:43Speaker 2: had a chance to study the tape yet, but did
- 22:45Speaker 2: anything stand out to you as to why they were
- 22:48Speaker 2: so good at stopping their run other than the one
- 22:51Speaker 2: long touchdown.
- 22:53Speaker 3: They played their gap control responsibilities impeccably, you know they did.
- 22:58Speaker 3: They were where they were supposed to be when they
- 22:59Speaker 3: were supposed to be there, and knowing why they were
- 23:02Speaker 3: supposed to be there. They had a lot of knockbacks.
- 23:05Speaker 3: The defensive line knocked the offensive lineman backwards and you know,
- 23:09Speaker 3: control them and then played off of him to make plays.
- 23:12Speaker 3: They just I thought too. They've played with energy, They've
- 23:16Speaker 3: played with enthusiasm when they played with the motion, you know,
- 23:18Speaker 3: the triple le's. If you have a defense that does that,
- 23:22Speaker 3: it makes up for a lot of mistakes. It makes
- 23:24Speaker 3: up for lack of talent. Not that they don't have talent,
- 23:27Speaker 3: but you know, and honestly, I don't think Al Golden
- 23:30Speaker 3: did anything real sophisticated or complicated. I think he just said, here,
- 23:35Speaker 3: we're gonna go and line up in maybe these two
- 23:37Speaker 3: or three things. We're gonna play football. Go out there.
- 23:39Speaker 3: You've been doing it your whole life. You've been doing
- 23:40Speaker 3: it since junior high school, you know, pee wee football,
- 23:43Speaker 3: junior high, high school, college. Go out there and play football.
- 23:46Speaker 3: That's what you're getting paid to do.
- 23:48Speaker 2: The best this team can do is finish with seven wins.
- 23:51Speaker 2: That is not successful by anyone's measure, but if you
- 23:54Speaker 2: can win your last three, the feeling is so much
- 23:59Speaker 2: better or going into the off season program, free agency,
- 24:03Speaker 2: the draft, et cetera.
- 24:05Speaker 1: For everybody in the building.
- 24:06Speaker 3: Yeah, if you're when you're building for twenty twenty six,
- 24:09Speaker 3: like we talked about with the with the free agency
- 24:12Speaker 3: and the draft and all that, to finish with three
- 24:15Speaker 3: straight wins with the players that you have already and
- 24:18Speaker 3: that you've been working with, that's that's a good indicator
- 24:21Speaker 3: that you're doing a lot of things right. And you know,
- 24:24Speaker 3: that's all you can ask for is once you once
- 24:27Speaker 3: you strike that chord where okay, we're capable of doing this,
- 24:31Speaker 3: we're not really too capable of doing that. Let's eliminate that.
- 24:36Speaker 3: Let me experiment with this a little bit. Let's add
- 24:38Speaker 3: this to the equation. Let's add this to the list
- 24:42Speaker 3: of defensive fronts and coverages that we have. And I'm
- 24:45Speaker 3: sure that's what Al Golden's doing now, because, like we
- 24:47Speaker 3: talked about earlier defenses, where it's at, they got to
- 24:50Speaker 3: make more improvements there than anywhere.
- 24:52Speaker 2: We're standing just outside the locker room moments ago, I
- 24:55Speaker 2: saw cameraman huddled around t Higgins and Chase Brown and
- 24:59Speaker 2: some of the guys that had big offensive games. Didn't
- 25:02Speaker 2: really see anybody around the offensive lineman, the unsung heroes
- 25:06Speaker 2: in a forty five point performance.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Yeah, they've played well, you know, and I think Scott
- 25:10Speaker 3: Peters is doing a good job with them. I think
- 25:13Speaker 3: that their you know, their graph is going up. You
- 25:15Speaker 3: got a couple of veteran guys, you know, Ted Carris
- 25:18Speaker 3: and Orlando Brown that know what they're doing. They've played
- 25:22Speaker 3: a million snaps. They played every defensive front that you
- 25:25Speaker 3: can play, every that you can imagine, every defensive front
- 25:29Speaker 3: known to man, probably. But these other guys, these other
- 25:32Speaker 3: young guys, they're you know, they're trying to learn and
- 25:37Speaker 3: on the job training can be tough, you know, particularly
- 25:39Speaker 3: if you lose them every game, so you don't get
- 25:42Speaker 3: a reward, you don't get Okay, yeah, boy, you guys,
- 25:45Speaker 3: you got really did a great job. And here's what
- 25:48Speaker 3: you got. You got a victory out of it. That
- 25:49Speaker 3: hasn't really happened to them all that often. So I
- 25:52Speaker 3: think to get a win like this, and and to
- 25:54Speaker 3: win it as convincingly as they did, I think says
- 25:56Speaker 3: a lot.
- 25:57Speaker 1: We've got an enjoyable flight to look forward to.
- 26:00Speaker 3: About that, Let's pack him and zip them and get airborne.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Up next, a home game against the Arizona Cardinals, who
- 26:06Speaker 2: felled at three and twelve after losing it home to
- 26:09Speaker 2: Atlanta on Sunday. Cincinnati opens as a six point favorite.
- 26:15Speaker 2: That's a wrap on the Miami game. Up next, it's
- 26:18Speaker 2: time for this week's Fun Facts Conversation, where you get
- 26:21Speaker 2: to know the person under the pads. Time for some
- 26:26Speaker 2: fun facts with linebacker and special Teams stand out Joe
- 26:29Speaker 2: Giles Harris. I know you played football in Montvale, New Jersey,
- 26:33Speaker 2: which isn't too far from New York City. Where exactly
- 26:36Speaker 2: did you live growing up?
- 26:37Speaker 10: I lived in New York growing up, So it's about
- 26:39Speaker 10: fifteen minute rod right outside of all right out soide
- 26:42Speaker 10: of New Jersey.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Do you consider yourself a New York City guy, a
- 26:46Speaker 2: Jersey guy? How would you label yourself just.
- 26:48Speaker 10: In New York and not New York City, not New
- 26:50Speaker 10: Jersey guy. I love everyone I'm from New York. I
- 26:53Speaker 10: love that about myself. I love the energy in New York.
- 26:56Speaker 10: I love New York. I love everything that it revives
- 26:58Speaker 10: and what it's about. So I tell everybody I'm from
- 27:01Speaker 10: New York. Joe, what sports did you play growing up?
- 27:03Speaker 10: And when did you know that football would ultimately be
- 27:06Speaker 10: your path forward? So growing up we played everything, and
- 27:10Speaker 10: then when I got to the high school, I played football, basketball,
- 27:11Speaker 10: in lacrosse. But for me, football was everything from an
- 27:15Speaker 10: early age. My dad coached high school football from the
- 27:17Speaker 10: time I was born, so I've been on a field
- 27:19Speaker 10: in pampers and as long as I can remember, and
- 27:22Speaker 10: it's the only thing I ever wanted to do. My
- 27:24Speaker 10: mom jokes and will tell stories, so I told her
- 27:26Speaker 10: that I wasn't going to college state classes. I was
- 27:28Speaker 10: going there for chalk talk and film prep and things
- 27:30Speaker 10: like that. That's what I was gonna do in college.
- 27:32Speaker 10: So being able to be here now. It's a blessing,
- 27:34Speaker 10: but I pretty much knew football was my path all.
- 27:38Speaker 2: You played college football at Duke, which means you were
- 27:41Speaker 2: probably a very good student in high school. Was that
- 27:44Speaker 2: important in your family. Absolutely.
- 27:46Speaker 10: My mom and my grandmother were both teachers, so that
- 27:50Speaker 10: was pushed on us big from the early from early on,
- 27:52Speaker 10: and when it came to it, it's like, well why not,
- 27:55Speaker 10: do you know, It's the best of both worlds. I
- 27:57Speaker 10: got to play very competitive powerfil football and get one
- 28:00Speaker 10: of the best educations in the country, So, I mean,
- 28:03Speaker 10: it was a win win for me.
- 28:04Speaker 2: Coach k was the basketball coach throughout your tenure at Duke.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Did you interact, Oh, I mean we saw him a
- 28:10Speaker 2: couple of times.
- 28:11Speaker 10: I wouldn't say I knew him personally, but there was
- 28:13Speaker 10: a couple of times he spoke to the football program
- 28:15Speaker 10: and you know, going to the games and things like that.
- 28:16Speaker 10: But it was definitely cool to see like a living
- 28:18Speaker 10: legend in person, especially his last couple of years I
- 28:20Speaker 10: was there, So it was pretty cool.
- 28:22Speaker 2: While you were Duke, you were the three time winner
- 28:24Speaker 2: of the Vincent Ray Award, which goes to the best
- 28:27Speaker 2: linebacker at Duke, and Vinnie Ray, of course, is here
- 28:31Speaker 2: in Cincinnati played for the Bengals. He is currently the
- 28:33Speaker 2: team Chaplain. Have you two hit it off now that
- 28:35Speaker 2: you're here in Cincinnati.
- 28:37Speaker 10: So it's funny, you know, being at Duke for the
- 28:39Speaker 10: four years, that was the name I heard every day.
- 28:41Speaker 10: I heard Vinnie Ray would do this, Vini Ray would
- 28:43Speaker 10: do that, Vinie Ray wouldn't have done this, or and
- 28:45Speaker 10: it was back and forth. And I didn't actually meet
- 28:47Speaker 10: Vine until this past year, this past spring at an
- 28:51Speaker 10: event the NFL host over the summer, and I got
- 28:54Speaker 10: to meet Vinnie for the first time. And it was
- 28:55Speaker 10: funny because I'm like, I know so much about you,
- 28:57Speaker 10: but I don't know you. And since, you know, he's
- 29:00Speaker 10: been nothing but a blessing to me and my family,
- 29:02Speaker 10: and between getting settled in sincey Bible studies, meeting with
- 29:06Speaker 10: him one on one, you know, it's it's been really
- 29:09Speaker 10: cool to, you know, build that relationship. And Vinnie's a
- 29:11Speaker 10: New York guy who went to Duke, and I'm a
- 29:13Speaker 10: New York guy I went to Duke, so it kind
- 29:14Speaker 10: of just worked out hand in hand.
- 29:16Speaker 2: There's a bit of a Duke connection in this locker room.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Beyond Vinnie Ray, Is it cool for you to have
- 29:22Speaker 2: so many former duke players in that Bengals locker room?
- 29:24Speaker 7: Absolutely?
- 29:25Speaker 10: I mean I got to play one year with Shaka
- 29:27Speaker 10: in college and he was really young. But I kept
- 29:29Speaker 10: in contact with Shaka through my time in the league
- 29:31Speaker 10: and until he got here, and you know, we talked
- 29:34Speaker 10: back and forth. And then it was funny last year
- 29:36Speaker 10: I was here for a week and I texted him
- 29:37Speaker 10: and I was like, hey, come to a locker and
- 29:39Speaker 10: he was like, what are you talking about?
- 29:40Speaker 7: Him was having a beer.
- 29:40Speaker 10: So seeing seeing him grow and things like that, it's
- 29:43Speaker 10: been awesome. It's a really good friend of mine. And
- 29:45Speaker 10: Lucas Patrick was a senior when I was a freshman,
- 29:47Speaker 10: so it's kind of the reverse thing, but same thing.
- 29:49Speaker 10: You know, it was nothing but good to me. I
- 29:51Speaker 10: talked to Lucas while he was in the league and
- 29:53Speaker 10: I was preparing to come in and I played against
- 29:55Speaker 10: him at least two or three times, and now being
- 29:56Speaker 10: on the same team, it's it's a cool full circle moment,
- 29:59Speaker 10: and you know, those of the relationships you built, Like
- 30:01Speaker 10: I'm thinking, I'll.
- 30:02Speaker 7: Never see this guy again.
- 30:03Speaker 10: He's a senior of my freshman in college and then
- 30:05Speaker 10: fast forward all these years and here we are again
- 30:07Speaker 10: in the same locker room, you know, so it's it's
- 30:08Speaker 10: a really cool feeling.
- 30:09Speaker 2: We're visiting with Joe Giles Harris. You had a great
- 30:12Speaker 2: career at Duke, team MVP, two time first Team All
- 30:15Speaker 2: acc or a team captain there your final year. Did
- 30:18Speaker 2: you expect to get drafted and was it a big
- 30:21Speaker 2: disappointment when you weren't?
- 30:23Speaker 3: Oh?
- 30:24Speaker 5: I think so, I think for me.
- 30:25Speaker 10: You know, that's obviously for everybody, it's the ultimate goals
- 30:27Speaker 10: to get drafted, and when.
- 30:29Speaker 5: It didn't happen, you know, it hurt a little bit.
- 30:32Speaker 10: But I come from a competitive household and my brother
- 30:34Speaker 10: plays profession lacrosse and things like that, so there was
- 30:36Speaker 10: no sulking in the moment. It was just all right,
- 30:38Speaker 10: what are you gonna do to stay? What are you
- 30:39Speaker 10: gonna do to you know, actually make it? Because you're
- 30:42Speaker 10: not the first the first door is not open, so
- 30:44Speaker 10: you got to walk to the second door. So for me,
- 30:47Speaker 10: it was disappointing, but I think it also taught me
- 30:49Speaker 10: a lot of things about myself, and it taught me
- 30:51Speaker 10: that if I really wanted, I had to put in
- 30:53Speaker 10: that much more work to get to where I'm at,
- 30:55Speaker 10: and seven years later, I'm still here doing it. So uh,
- 30:58Speaker 10: blessed for how it's gone. It started with kind of rough,
- 31:01Speaker 10: but you know, we figured it.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Out because of the way NFL accounting works. The roster
- 31:05Speaker 2: says you have two years of NFL experience, and it's
- 31:07Speaker 2: always annoying to me because the truth is, this is
- 31:11Speaker 2: your seventh NFL season, including time that you've spent on
- 31:14Speaker 2: practice squads. It's a good living regardless of what your
- 31:18Speaker 2: status is on the roster. What's been the key for
- 31:21Speaker 2: you to remain an NFL player for seven years?
- 31:25Speaker 10: For me, I think it's just been simple. You know,
- 31:27Speaker 10: show up to work every day and work. There's somebody
- 31:29Speaker 10: coming in and take your spot every day. There's a
- 31:31Speaker 10: one hundred guys who are getting tryouts every day, and
- 31:34Speaker 10: so what are you doing in that building to stand
- 31:36Speaker 10: out on a consistent basis? So it's you know, I've
- 31:39Speaker 10: built a routine being consistent and just being vocal and
- 31:44Speaker 10: being a leader. And when you get your opportunity to
- 31:45Speaker 10: make plays, make plays. That's the league about. The more
- 31:47Speaker 10: plays you make, the longer you stay. The less plays
- 31:49Speaker 10: you make, you're gonna have to find something else to do.
- 31:51Speaker 2: I introduced you off the top as a linebacker, and
- 31:53Speaker 2: special teams stand out right now. Pro Football Focus has
- 31:56Speaker 2: you graded number eleven among all special teams players in
- 32:00Speaker 2: the NFL so far this year. You've had several tackles
- 32:03Speaker 2: and kick coverage in recent weeks. How much of special
- 32:07Speaker 2: team's success is all out effort and how much is
- 32:11Speaker 2: knowledge and technique? Well, I think you know, it's a
- 32:14Speaker 2: combination of both. But shout out you know, coach Darn,
- 32:17Speaker 2: Coach Ben, and you know the guys in the unit.
- 32:19Speaker 10: You know, I'm just the guy who's been lucky enough
- 32:20Speaker 10: to have a couple of tackles these past few games.
- 32:22Speaker 10: But it comes down to film study and just working hard.
- 32:25Speaker 10: And you know, I think for a lot of guys,
- 32:28Speaker 10: you know, early on you can kind of look at
- 32:30Speaker 10: special teams as that I don't want to play special teams.
- 32:31Speaker 10: I want to be a defensive I want to be offensive guy.
- 32:33Speaker 10: But it's just as important. It's it's just as fun,
- 32:37Speaker 10: and you know, guys carve out roles doing that. So
- 32:40Speaker 10: for me, like I told you, just being consistent and
- 32:42Speaker 10: doing what I have to do to stay in a building,
- 32:44Speaker 10: and you know, getting the opportunity to play there, and
- 32:46Speaker 10: it's been nothing but good to me and kind of
- 32:48Speaker 10: opened my eyes a little more of special teams the world.
- 32:50Speaker 10: And I just thank my film studying things for being
- 32:52Speaker 10: able to be in the right place the right time.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Maybe in a perfect world, you get drafted by a team,
- 32:57Speaker 2: you spend a decade with that team, and that your
- 33:00Speaker 2: NFL career. That's not been the path for you. On
- 33:03Speaker 2: the other hand, you've probably made hundreds of friends, and
- 33:05Speaker 2: the different teams you've been with, You've seen how it
- 33:08Speaker 2: works in different places, You've lived in different cities. Have
- 33:11Speaker 2: you enjoyed that part of your career.
- 33:13Speaker 5: Absolutely, I don't take any of this for granted.
- 33:16Speaker 10: I've made nothing but great relationships, and you know, just
- 33:20Speaker 10: the people I've met along the way have been amazing,
- 33:22Speaker 10: and that you know, there's people you met along the
- 33:24Speaker 10: way who aren't amazing, but it's just part.
- 33:25Speaker 5: Of the process.
- 33:26Speaker 10: But I'd say the overall knowledge I've gained just from
- 33:29Speaker 10: the business side of it, how the NFL works, you know,
- 33:32Speaker 10: what locker rooms are like, and things like that. I
- 33:34Speaker 10: think it's kind of really helped me, you know, stay
- 33:38Speaker 10: focused and stay grounded and things like that, and to
- 33:41Speaker 10: to really like it's been nothing but a blessing.
- 33:43Speaker 5: Like I've loved this process. It's been hard.
- 33:45Speaker 10: There's been days where I'm like, this is not it,
- 33:46Speaker 10: this is the worst thing in the world, but it's
- 33:49Speaker 10: you know, everything's turned the corner from me, and I'm
- 33:52Speaker 10: grateful for it. I came to this lead with no kids.
- 33:54Speaker 10: I have two kids now, two beautiful kids who have
- 33:56Speaker 10: now part of this process. My wife's part of the process.
- 33:58Speaker 10: So it's been good for us. It's good in us
- 34:00Speaker 10: a different perspective. Got to live in different areas of
- 34:02Speaker 10: the country, which is cool, you know, being from New York,
- 34:04Speaker 10: I only wanted to live in New York.
- 34:06Speaker 5: It was good.
- 34:06Speaker 10: I was able to branch out and do things like that.
- 34:08Speaker 10: But it's been a blessing and I cherished every Every
- 34:12Speaker 10: place I've been at has been good for me and
- 34:14Speaker 10: my family, and I'm just forever grateful.
- 34:16Speaker 2: All Right, a few wild card topics now for Joe
- 34:19Speaker 2: Giles Harris, since you mentioned having two kids, son, daughter,
- 34:23Speaker 2: one of each, and what's your favorite thing about being
- 34:25Speaker 2: a dad?
- 34:25Speaker 10: My son is two years old and my daughter's one
- 34:27Speaker 10: year old, Blaze and Breeze, and I think my favorite
- 34:30Speaker 10: part of being a dad is just coming home and
- 34:31Speaker 10: hearing what they had to say about their day, and
- 34:33Speaker 10: you know what they did or what I did. And
- 34:35Speaker 10: my son's at the age where he understands things now
- 34:37Speaker 10: and wants to play football. So I get home and Dad,
- 34:39Speaker 10: you didn't make a tackle today, and I'm like, yeah,
- 34:41Speaker 10: I didn't make a tackle. Money I'm trying, So just
- 34:44Speaker 10: that part, but it's just coming home and you know,
- 34:46Speaker 10: seeing there's something more important than whatever you got going
- 34:50Speaker 10: on that day. So I love to My daughter runs
- 34:53Speaker 10: to me every time I come in the house, whether
- 34:55Speaker 10: it's because she was being bad that day or she
- 34:56Speaker 10: just wants to see me. It is, you know, to
- 34:58Speaker 10: be determined, but just seeing their face, seeing their smiles,
- 35:01Speaker 10: and remember there's you know, there's people counting on me
- 35:04Speaker 10: to be more than a football player, and I think
- 35:06Speaker 10: that's the best part about it.
- 35:08Speaker 2: You have a hyphenated last name, Giles Harris. Was that
- 35:11Speaker 2: always the case or did you make that choice?
- 35:13Speaker 10: That's been always the case. My mom and my dad.
- 35:16Speaker 10: Neither one wanted to give up their last name. And
- 35:19Speaker 10: it sounds great and it's original and when you see it, you.
- 35:22Speaker 5: Know who I am.
- 35:23Speaker 10: So the only people who have that last name are
- 35:26Speaker 10: people blood related to me. So I think, uh, I
- 35:28Speaker 10: think it's a blessing. It helps me stand out and
- 35:30Speaker 10: it's unique.
- 35:31Speaker 2: So I appreciate you referenced your brother, JT. Earlier, a
- 35:35Speaker 2: professional lacrosse player for the Denver Outlaws. He is a
- 35:38Speaker 2: three time All Star in the Premiere Lacrosse League.
- 35:41Speaker 7: Tell us a little bit about his career.
- 35:43Speaker 10: Oh, well, my brother has been, you know, the best
- 35:45Speaker 10: player at lacrosse in my opinion, And I know that
- 35:47Speaker 10: probably doesn't cary well because I live in the house,
- 35:49Speaker 10: but he's been the best lacrossselayer I've seen in a
- 35:51Speaker 10: long time. He plays defense, you know, he played defense
- 35:54Speaker 10: playing growing up, playing football and things like that, so
- 35:56Speaker 10: kind of translated.
- 35:57Speaker 5: But he's had, you know, a heck of probably a
- 35:59Speaker 5: better career.
- 35:59Speaker 10: Than I've had, to be honest, he you know it,
- 36:02Speaker 10: was a defensive player of the Year in college, All
- 36:04Speaker 10: American most of his time in college. I think he
- 36:06Speaker 10: won Defensive Player of the Year already in the PLL.
- 36:09Speaker 10: So he's just a study, handles his business. He approaches
- 36:12Speaker 10: every day cod of some of that I do, you know,
- 36:14Speaker 10: just attack the day mentality, and he's just a competitor,
- 36:17Speaker 10: like there's a fire in him and it burns and
- 36:20Speaker 10: he's gonna get his job none no matter what.
- 36:22Speaker 2: Who is your all time favorite athlete in any sport?
- 36:26Speaker 3: And why?
- 36:27Speaker 5: My Also my favorite athletes is probably my older brother.
- 36:30Speaker 10: And that's funny, but you know, he was the first
- 36:33Speaker 10: one we watched, the first example that I got of
- 36:36Speaker 10: hard work and you know, dedication. My brother wasn't the
- 36:38Speaker 10: best athlete there was. He was a very good athletes
- 36:40Speaker 10: All American in his college playing football Erie Pennsylvania, but
- 36:44Speaker 10: you know, he just set a good example for me,
- 36:46Speaker 10: and everything you saw was genuine. He never he didn't
- 36:49Speaker 10: skip reps, he wasn't skipping workouts, and he set the example.
- 36:53Speaker 10: So it was you either match that or you're not
- 36:55Speaker 10: going anywhere. So I said, my older brother.
- 36:58Speaker 2: Is other than football. What are you good at?
- 37:02Speaker 5: Depends on yes.
- 37:03Speaker 10: I think I'm a pretty good basketball player myself. Basketball,
- 37:07Speaker 10: you know, and I like to just hang out. I'm
- 37:09Speaker 10: a big I love to watch movies and do things
- 37:11Speaker 10: like that. I love history, so I like to watch
- 37:14Speaker 10: you know, the trivia stuff and like things like that
- 37:16Speaker 10: and test my brain.
- 37:17Speaker 5: But those are pretty much small things.
- 37:19Speaker 7: I'm good at all. Right.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Final fun fact for Joe Giles Harris. This one's kind
- 37:22Speaker 2: of deep. If you could meet anyone in history, living
- 37:27Speaker 2: or deceased, who would that person be?
- 37:31Speaker 10: I say, right now aft the top of my head,
- 37:33Speaker 10: probably Barack Obama, And I would just you know, just
- 37:36Speaker 10: want to pick his brain about you know, he was
- 37:38Speaker 10: the first black president of the United States, and you
- 37:41Speaker 10: know the things he went through growing up and the
- 37:43Speaker 10: things he went through as our president. So just to
- 37:45Speaker 10: kind of pick his brain and see where he's at,
- 37:47Speaker 10: you know, because it takes a strong person to you know,
- 37:49Speaker 10: lead this country, and especially when you're the first of
- 37:52Speaker 10: you know, a group.
- 37:53Speaker 2: To do that.
- 37:54Speaker 10: So just pick his brain and you know, just get
- 37:57Speaker 10: to know him. I think that would be probably person
- 37:58Speaker 10: I want to meet the most. This has been great.
- 38:00Speaker 10: Appreciate your time. Best of look the rest of the year.
- 38:02Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 38:03Speaker 5: I appreciate it.
