That's a lot of phrases. Luna: And a lot of fun. So what are we diving into today? Lucas: Winter is coming — at least in Norway. So I thought we'd talk about skiing. It's a huge part of Norwegian culture. Luna: Skiing! I've always wanted to try it. But I have no idea how to say anything about it in Norwegian. Lucas: Well, you're in luck. Let's start with the basic verb: 'to ski' is 'å stå på ski'. Say it with me: å stå på ski. Luna: Å stå på ski. That's a mouthful. Å stå på ski. Lucas: Perfect. It literally means 'to stand on skis'. So if you want to say 'I like to ski', you say 'Jeg liker å stå på ski'. Luna: Jeg liker å stå på ski. I like to ski. I can say that. Lucas: And if you're going on a ski trip, that's 'en skitur'. Skitur. Luna: Skitur. Like a ski tour. I love that word. Lucas: Me too. Now, you'll also see ski tracks in the snow. Those are 'skispor'. Skispor. Luna: Skispor. Ski tracks. So if I'm following a trail, I'm following skispor. Lucas: Exactly. And you'll need ski poles — 'skistaver' — and ski boots — 'skisko'. Skistaver, skisko. Luna: Skistaver and skisko. The poles and the boots. Got it. Lucas: Now, let's put it all together in a little scene. Imagine you're planning a weekend trip. Luna: Okay, I'm imagining. Lucas: You could say: 'Jeg skal på skitur i helgen. Jeg liker å stå på ski.' That means 'I'm going on a ski trip this weekend. I like to ski.' Luna: Jeg skal på skitur i helgen. Jeg liker å stå på ski. That sounds great. Lucas: And if someone asks where the ski tracks are, you can say: 'Følg skisporene.' Follow the ski tracks. Luna: Følg skisporene. That's useful.
