- Speedcafe Team: This week on Full Credit to the Noise, Max breaks his 2026 duck in Barrasia, Marquez narrows the gap in Montaiggi. And we gear up for the mountain. Welcome to Full Credit to the Noise. Well hello, good morning, good afternoon, good in, and welcome to Full Credit to the Noise. You can find this podcast on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook at FC T T N Podcast. You can find me on Instagram, Twitter, Blue Sky, and Facebook at Former underscore legend. You can find the back across me on Twitter at Avial underscore motorsport. He's on Instagram at Avial.motorsport. He's a man who this week has opened up his consultancy services to Supercars teams as a Perth street track veteran. He's again declared himself available for a selection for the Australian cricket team. And tonight he's wearing a disguise after last year being banned from all licensed premises in Bathurst. Welcome to Speak Cafe's Andrew Van Lewen. Thank you very much, Former. I have officially arrived in Bathurst, which is great news. It's always exciting the day you get to Bathurst for the ⁓ for the 1000. But ⁓ I don't think I'm gonna need to go to many ⁓ what did you say, licensed premises over the ⁓ over the week. Obviously the Tattersels on Wednesday night and the and the Oxford on Sunday night for the party. But ⁓ apart from that, we've actually landed as in Speed Cafe. And the Pod By Association, a ⁓ Speak FA House Drinks Backer for the week. Finally. The Bathus Grange Distillery. Yeah, this is a project that's been in the works for a long time. We finally found someone. ⁓ so Stefan and I stopped by on our way into town and ⁓ Nick, lovely bloke, who runs the joint. Although anyone who's gonna give you a bunch of ⁓ free booze is probably gonna come across as a very nice fella, yeah. You're gonna think they're a lovely bloke anyway. But loaded up the back of our ⁓ Ford F-150. This is actually just a full plug fest, to be honest, this ⁓ start of the But yeah. Our Ford F one fifty got loaded up with ⁓ the BX whiskey and dry and there's a there's a ⁓ a hard lemonade and ⁓ man, it's just it's gonna be a good week. We might not need to leave the house all that much at all, to be honest. So thank you to the Bathurst ⁓ Grange Distillery. It's been an excellent start to our trip and we've only been here for a few hours. So you might not leave the house. You mightn't be able to looking at the lineups to try and get back to Sydney from Bathurst Way. I just seen a couple of videos. It is atrocious. It was incredible. We we had a pretty good run. It's a bit slow. We did the run over the highway and then the sort of cut through to the Bell's line of road connection up that end to come in the back way into Lithgow. And our direction was fine. It's a bit slow and pokey, kind of with speed limits and and road works, but the cue, obviously, you know, we're recording this on Monday evening, so it's public holiday here in New South Wales. Public holiday traffic trying to get back to Sydney from out past Lithgow was It was it it was gnarly. It did not look like fun. And that's this Monday. So next month. I really would urge, I really would urge anyone who was thinking about trying to make a morning getaway from Bathur next Monday to not do so. You could actually go and see our friends at the Bathus Grange distillery, to be honest. Like what a what an opportunity to stop there on the way out of town, have some lunch. ⁓ but it yeah, in all seriousness, it looked it looked bad. So there's gonna be no rush to leave on Monday if you're heading back to Sydney, because even today, boy ⁓ boy. It was ⁓ it was chops. You were saying to me that you also encourage people to do what you're gonna be doing and get a flight a private chopper back to Sydney, which is ⁓ interesting move. Hey, while we're on plugs, let's just quickly talk about Tattersal Hotel at Bathurst, where we are doing our live gig. If you are in Bathurst and you wanna have a cold beer, go down to Tattersels because the public in there has been one of the best blokes we've ever had to deal with. Go and see Carso, he will look after you. It is a great little pub. It's right on the corner of I don't know, two of them big streets. I think it's ⁓ Piper and something, but I don't know. But yeah, have a look at it. You can find everything in Bathurst if you just keep going left and right. Exactly right. Like you already find it eventually. ⁓ so yeah, if you do get a chance, if you want to have a cold beer, go down to Tatisla Hotel because it's a bloody beauty. And while we are plugging all sorts of things, let's talk about authentic because they are doing a big push this weekend. Our friends Will Hall is ⁓ doing a nineteen ninety-six tribute ⁓ to the Lounge Murphy car. ⁓ but he's doing the livery on a new Camaro and it looks the bomb. Yep, it's meant to be limited to a hundred and sixty one. You can call that a hundred and sixty because one of them's definitely coming home with Well we're down to one fifty nine now, so ⁓ Yeah, I was gonna say I reckon you're gonna want one too. ⁓ so that will the the first available opportunity to buy that will be at the live show. There you go. So once you once you get your phones back, ⁓ you'll be able to use if you are lucky enough to have a ticket to the live show, you'll be able to use your phone to go and buy one of those models and it does look very cool. They've they've Probably announced it today. And ⁓ it's a cool thing. So, yeah, going off the numbers, there might be fifty left by the time the end of the live shows because there's gonna be hundred people there. So all right, let's talk about what happened this week. And it was the East Bahrain, very East Bahrain GP in Malaysia, ⁓ qualifying Max Verstappen, dominated qualifying to claim his first pole position of 2026, clear of Lewis Hamilton with Isaac Hajjar third. However, he had to drop five places with an engine penalty. ⁓ it was Max's first poll of the season. ⁓ it was also the first poll of the season for a non-Mercedes powered car, and the first for the Red Bull Ford powertrains. So that was ⁓ something to ⁓ celebrate. Championship leader Kimmy Antonelli grabbed fourth, Oscar was seventh, and the Hall monitor eighth, and Liam Lawson eleventh. ⁓ pretty stock standard qualifying, but then we got to the race. Well First of all, we'll break down that it was win number seventy-two in his career for Max. He actually now is tying Michael Schumacher. Antonelli came second. Hamilton was third from Charles, Hadjar, Piastri and Lawson. George Russell's fading title hope suffered a potentially fatal blow after his W-17 stopped late on with ⁓ engine trouble. And congratulations to Ford, makers of the Raptor, one of the finest cars on the road. Their first win ⁓ on their return to Formula One with Red Bull. But the race was delayed by weather and an aborted start after a software problem as several drivers slowed dramatically or stopped altogether, with Max Verstappen reporting a loss of power at the front of the field before Lewis, Esteban Ocon, and Valerie Bottas all came to a halt at different stages. It led to FIA single-seater director Nicholas Tombatsis confirming that a software bug had left several cars unable to accelerate normally after slowly dramatic slowing dramatically in the wet conditions. It was a bit of a shit show to be honest and a bad look. And ⁓ it it really fueled Max up to start talking about how great V8's are again, Avio. Yeah, it w it's kind of it's not new news that these regulations are way overly complicated and problematic. ⁓ but it was certainly Probably the starkest example of it given how wide ranging it was through the field. Not every car had an issue, but effectively this is an override that exists within the FIA software. It is a it is a ⁓ a control ECU that controls the electronics of the motor. And it was kind of activated through a bunch of circumstances in terms of the slow speed in those conditions on the warm-up lap and the ⁓ dropping the RPM too low and all that sort of stuff, and effectively just that the ECU took over and said there's something wrong. Cars went into a limp home mode, really, that needed to be ⁓ cycled or overridden. And that's why we had that delayed start procedure. And that's why, you know, it was decided to put the cars back in their starting order, not because they all came back to pit lane in that jumbled up order because it was just chaotic out on track. And, you know, in a way it's impressive that that these ⁓ technical guys ⁓ at the FIA could reprogram everything. In that short a space of time and and pump out new software to these cars to get them going again. But we just shouldn't be doing that. And you know, this is a week after Valdery Bodass ended up in the wall because his car didn't quite know where it was on the track and deployed power at the wrong time, right? So it's just another sign that this this ⁓ way of ⁓ powering these these power units through algorithms and stuff, it's just not what it's not what Formula One should be. And It's not what motorsport should be. Drivers should be in control of of when and how they have they deploy power. And hopefully this is another wake-up call and the biggest wake-up call yet that we do need to get out of this regulation cycle as absolutely fast as possible. We know there's going to be changes next year and the year after, but surely this is the nail in the coffin in terms of any sort of long-term plan to try and continue down this path because it just was not a good look for. Anyone concerned. I loved I know you won't like this, but I loved they went to ⁓ Alonso and said to him, What did you make of it all? And he said, ⁓ let's think it's great news that next time my car stops we're just gonna start the race again when once I get my car going again. So fantastic. But yeah, like you said, it was a it was a really bad look. It was a shocking look. And yeah, it's it's crazy. Like you said, the the the the bottas thing that we sort of touched on last week about how the car basically decided It was in a different part of the track and needed to slow itself. That's that's not what we're here for, surely. No. No, nothing no, not at all. Not at all. So that was a bad look. The other bad look was Lando Knox behind the safety car. Yeah. Into turn one. Did you catch that? Wait, I thought it was I when I first seen the f this for the first time, I thought it was a replay of Stroll hitting Daniel in China. I'm thinking, look at this lunatic. I remember this, and then all of a sudden I seen him go, I think, that's Lando. What's he done? But yeah, he almost anyone that hasn't seen it, go and find it. Like he he barrels into turn one behind the safety car, seems to be distracted by George Russell's stopped car way too fast. And I mean way too fast, and goes within millimetres of wiping Oscar Piastri out of the race, skids off through the gravel, gets going, drops a few spots, ends up back in the points, which the kind of penalty didn't the self penalty didn't really fit the crime, to be honest. And what's just amazing is that You know, a week ago, and I know we apologized for the comments, but a week ago, Lando Norris was calling for Franco Colapinto, was saying he didn't deserve to be an F1 and that he should be banned for a race for doing something that wasn't even close to as stupid as what Lando Norris did. Like that was, you know, you are in control of the car behind the safety car. And that was just such a huge misjudgment. And were it not for millimeters, yeah, like millimeters, it would have wiped out his teammate and potentially other cars and it would have just been it's it was embarrassing enough as it is, but imagine if he'd done that how embarrassing it would have been a week after the comments that he made, because this was a far bigger misjudgment than than Colapinto's was. It was missed opportunity for Colapinto, but he could have come out hard and said, mate, that bloke should not be in this Yeah, yeah. Yeah, absolutely. But it was it was just yeah, I found it really interesting. And he he kind of, you know, he He half took the blame in the media pen afterwards, sort of saying, Yeah, well, I guess I'm in control of the car, but then went down this path of, well, they all checked up and there's this concertina and all this sort stuff. And and and actually said the words like, I don't know what else I could have done. And the answer to that is the exact opposite to what you did, which was barrel into the corner way too fast, ⁓ with a closing speed that was ⁓ just ridiculous at a point when you're not even racing other cars. So th these mistakes do happen, I get it, but just that that in the context of what happened in Baku. It's ⁓ it was it was bizarre. Yeah, if you're in a glass house, maybe don't pick up bricks. Just leave ⁓ on the floor. It'll be fine. But let's go with the shift cut 'cause there is a fair bit going on in and around Formula One at the moment. ⁓ And Formula One Chief Stefano Domenicali has given the clearest indication yet that the twenty twenty six season will conclude as planned in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, despite months of uncertainty around both races. He said yes, and we've said the calendar is confirmed. The last two Grand Prix will be in Qatar and Abu Dhabi. This is the direction we've taken based on the information reassurances we have, and which we are absolutely ⁓ we must have, of course, is the strategy will apply until the end of the year. Qatar is scheduled to host the penultimate event. From November twenty-seven to twenty nine, before Abu Dhabi brings the season to a close from December four to six. IMLA had had emerged as the leading alternative for a European conclusion for the championship, with also Portomo and Istanbul also linked to those dates. Mate, are you heading over? Are you keen? Look, th this is an interesting one. There's been some varying reports on a few aspects of this thing, including the accuracy of the translation of the quote given it was an interview in Italian. And these things do kind of you know, that sometimes stuff does get lost in translation a little bit, ⁓ in the wider media scheme when when interviews are conducted in other languages. But I don't know that much has actually changed here. I I sort of I I know there's people in the F one paddock that don't believe the situation has changed at all. F one has repeatedly said these races are on the schedule. But that doesn't mean there's not a big question mark over them. We know that Domenicali knows how to spin something. He's made an art form of it with the 2026 engine regulations. And there's big money at stake here in terms of who blinks first. So it's understandable that Domenicali would be trying this spin on. ⁓ look at the fact that we just had the Bahrain Grand Prix in Sipin. Like that's how convoluted these negotiations around who's paying for what can really get when races have to be cancelled. So there is. There's a lot of money at stake. My read on the situation is that things haven't actually changed and we still don't really know if we're going to have seven more rounds this season with the two Middle Eastern events at the end or six rounds this season with Imola replacing them both effectively at the back end of the calendar. And I guess, yeah, we don't really know what's gonna happen with the start of next season still as well. So I don't think I think there was it probably felt like there was more clarity around this, but it was actually ⁓ reiterating what what ⁓ Domenicale has already said, which is, well, the races are on the schedule and if they're on the schedule, we're planning on going there. So bits of play. Well Trump did say that once the midterms are done, this will all be sorted straight after that. So you know, let's just wait and see. Yeah, great. Seems seems positive as far as I can tell. ⁓ Fred's Vasur has urged Ferrari to remain united amidst scrutiny over his future, saying some of the attacks surrounding his position have become a bit personal. ⁓ the comments came after the latest round of speculation following comments from Red Bull forward Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, who said Ferrari was his only F1 operation that he'd go to without an ownership stake. Ferrari management, led by communications chief Maria Conti, said its position had not shifted around support for Vassur and made clear the message reflected the view of Chairman John Elkman and Chief Executive Benadotta Vigner. Based on Friday sorry, after Friday why such a public show of support had been required, Vasur said the con constant questions had become a distraction. When you see the noise and all the rumours in the press all week, I think as a team we need to work in serenity, and it was absolutely not the case this week. He added that while the pressure itself had not surprised him, some of the attacks had become personal. He said honestly, I knew what I would get on that. I'm not surprised at all, but sometimes the attacks are a bit personal. It's not good. We need friendly media. Is this the equivalent of Ferrari giving him full support of the board? ⁓ I look I don't I don't think so. I think there is still a fair bit of support there. I think like having Lewis Hamilton's unwavering support is pretty important for ⁓ for Fred in in his position there. I can certainly imagine that, you know, and I think what Fred's saying there is that, you know, ⁓ he knew that there we he would get some of this like the Italian media would be brutal if you're running the Ferrari F one team. That that would be definitely hard work, but Look, whatever is happening, we really saw the best and the worst of Ferrari's strategy decision making power all in one afternoon on Sunday, didn't we? Like it was ⁓ that was a wild old ride as to where where those two red cars were gonna end up. We did all right for ⁓ last us. ⁓ back in the fifth. Yeah, when when when they were more than a minute behind their the leaders, sort of six or seven or eight laps into the race, it didn't look all that flash then. So ⁓ we saw it all. ⁓ just in time for Bathus David, which must be ⁓ Bathus Weep because we're about to talk about parity again. Following recent testing in Melbourne, Supercars has removed a portion of the ballast from the Chev Camaro ⁓ to lower its center of gravity by r taking away some of the four point four kilos of ballast ahead of the Bathus 1000 while the Supra and the Mustang remain unchanged. The homologation teams also agreed to a revised center of gravity tolerance for the remainder of the 26th season. There could still be additional parody changes, however, with talks that last minute barometric testing may occur. no. I'm starting to lose lose the will to live when we talk about parody. Yeah, I mean it's it's Monday night as we record this, as I mentioned before, and there's still no final word on the barrow testing except for the fact that it is taking place. So There remains a big question mark over whether we'll see any engine parity changes. Aero, it appears there will be no changes. And then we have this small COG shift. So it's ballast being moved, not ballast coming off the car. It's not a change in the weight. It's just being shifted off the top of the the roll hoop where it was put earlier in the season on the Camaro. So ⁓ but ultimately compared to engine and aero, ⁓ a few grams of ballast is not what's going to win or lose you the Bathus 1000. So Aero, expect to remain the same, but engine, that's going to be the real big talking point ⁓ in the next couple of days here in Bathurst. In some good news, in his final start with Porsche, Matt Campbell signed off with a dramatic Petit Le Monds win alongside Kevin Estray and Lawrence Vanthor. ⁓ the number six Porsche Penske Motorsport team led home the twenty four BMW WRT of Sheldon Vanderlyn, Dries Vanthor, and Robin Fridge in a fantastic, thrilling race at Road Atlanta. He said it's a great way to cap off my Porsche career, getting an overall win. That's one we've been missing at Porsche, and ⁓ to cap it off like this is a fantastic to do it with Lawrence and Kevin is awesome, of course. Matt is heading over to Ford. One I was just thinking, ⁓ when I seen this, do you reckon there's a chance he beat the twelve around a Mustang? ⁓ I guess there is a chance if you're a factory forward driver. There is always a chance of that. He goes around at Bath in the G three card. Couple of a couple of ⁓ couple of shots at the top. Yep. What about this? A new racing category is being formed and operated independently as part of a proposed new national motorsport platform, with the double ASA set to provide sanctioning and insurance services for a new motorbike category. This category's own organizers would be responsible for running and promoting its events. The aim is to make motorcycle racing more sustainable, create more opportunities, and give competitors a platform that they're treated with respect. Apparently, every rider has a say, and technical decisions are informed by people who understand racing motorcycles. Jeez, this sounds like parody in supercars. ⁓ the group is also working towards get this, a standalone motorcycle road race at the one and only Bathurst. It would be a separate event towards their chair outside of their championship, subject to the necessary approvals. Have you ever seen motorbikes at s at Bathurst? Because I have, and it's wild. Yeah, not in person. I don't know heaps about this ⁓ in terms of the the kind of whole series thing, but on the Bathur side, I do know that the outgoing Bathur mayor, Robert Stumpy Taylor, he was Massive on getting bikes back to Mount Panorama. That was something he publicly made clear he would love to have done. He was recently replaced by Ben Fry, who is an absolute motorsport tragic, which is awesome. ⁓ I just don't fully know what his position on motorbike racing is and whether he shares Stumpy's enthusiasm for getting bike racing back at Mount Panorama, but it's certainly an interesting concept. I'd ⁓ I'd be intrigued to see it. If you're you're up the top of the mountain ⁓ this year and you want s motorbikes to return. Just go and set the temporary police station on fire like old times revealed. Just to show your backing. That's a good point. ⁓ Ford Racing will return to the FIA World Rally Championship as a full factory backed team from 28 with the all-new WRC car set to make its competitive debut one year later. Ford, which manufactures the amazing Ford Raptor, announced its renewed commitment to rallying, confirming that its longstanding partnership with ⁓ Sport will form the basis of an expanded works program. This is Great news because that now they are now the second manufacturer that's committed to these new rule set. Yeah. And I think there'll be more to come. Hyundai look like they may well as well. Yeah, I mean Ford in World Rallying just feels right, doesn't it? Like it's what fueled my lifelong love of small Fords. So to me it's ⁓ it's great news. And as I reckon we're about to discuss, it's well timed with the WRC really getting some proper motorsport media traction over the weekend, which to me feels like it's the first time in a long time that that's really happened. Yeah, sp well, as Avia alluded to, if you haven't seen this, go and look for it. But the t world title was won by Twirda's Elfin Evans and Scott Martin after incredibly with two corners left the entire rally. Oliver Solberg went off the road while leading with two seconds in his pocket. Solberg would have taken the crown on a countback if he'd got to the finish. And emotional Solberg was shattered after race. He said two corners, two corners. First, congratulations to Elfen He has been very consistent all season. That I even had a shot after my roller coaster of a season is incredible. I tried everything. I knew I was pushing, but didn't know if it was enough. I pushed even more. I couldn't save the car. I tried my very best. Evans has ⁓ became the UK's first world rally champion in twenty five years as he joins Colin McRae and Richard Burns. He's also the first Welsh driver to take the championship. Go and look for this footage because it is insane. Yeah, no, it was Blockbuster. And again, we haven't seen enough of that from the WRC in recent years. It's kind of fallen off the radar a little bit. So between the Ford announcement, you know, these new regulations coming in and this really high profile end of the season and dramatic ⁓ title conclusion, hopefully it's ⁓ all this stuff can come together to to kick start a bit of a revival for the WRC because it is it is spectacular motorsport rallying and you know, obviously For me being a West Aussie, it's something that's close to my heart as well, the World Relic Championship, because we had so much exposure to it for so many years in Perth. So yeah, I like ⁓ I like everything that's happening there. Hey, and did you see the the the commentator give him the absolute kiss of death? ⁓ the worst. He's already spraying the champagne out of the commentary box and ⁓ it went all tits up. ⁓ while it's where if you haven't seen it, you have to watch it. It is an amazing commentator's curse. It's one of the it's I can't remember a better one than that. That was that's all time. Yeah. ⁓ while we're on the on the dirt, Lewis Bates and Anthony McLaughlin claimed ⁓ early bragging rights in the All Aid Hills rally on the weekend. They won Heat One, extended their lead in the championship. While teammate and brother ⁓ brother, cousin, brother? Brother, Harry Bates and Coral Taylor claimed top honors. the second heat, and they finished the event in second place in the championship, which is going to go down to the last round. And speaking of championships, congratulations to Seth Burkhartz, who won the Australian Formula Four championship at Phillip Island, mainly because AVL didn't get to all the rounds. Otherwise, you probably would have wrapped that up. I didn't get to any them. That's the point. Kiwis and Aussies overseas. Well, let's just talk about NASCAR because Shane Van Gisburgen qualified 26th in the depends for large Orangemen 500 at Las Vegas. In the race, he enjoyed his first top ten finish in ten races with a ninth. The race was won by Chase Briscoe. And in Moto GP, Mark Marquez won the sprint race, ⁓ with Honda rookie Diogo Moreira promoted to a surprise second after post-race penalties to Jorge Martin and Anea Bastianini. In the Grand Prix, ⁓ unable to get ahead of Jorge Martin into turn one, Mark Martin Mar sorry, Mark Marquez. Mark Martin, I was thinking about him today for some reason. Mark Marquez Jumped ahead of ⁓ Jorge Martin after lap eight and then was never headed again. He pushed for the win. Bezecki grabbed third. The title now sees ⁓ Jorge Martin in the lead by just two points from Marquez and Bezzecki. He's now Bezecki's probably a write-off. He's 49 points off. Moto 2, Senator Adji has probably had his worst weekend a long time. Qualified 10th, finished 13th. And same for Joel Kelso. He qualified 23rd and finished 17th. And just finally, I don't know if you saw this. Before the Monteggy Grand Prix ⁓ Moto GP, there was a go-kart race for all the riders, where basically everyone turned up and raced. but Mark Marquez did not. He chose to have a body double replace him on the grid instead. They weren't gonna say anything, but he suggested that the event was inappropriate for him to go to at this stage of the season, given that he's icing his shoulders and everything else. He said after the warm up for the GP, I just needed to ⁓ needed ice and one of the team members came out and said it'd be cool if we put a stunt double in instead. He said it was a bit of a hold by drink moment and they basically did it and they were caught on the grid as to what they were gonna do. He said it might be selfish, he said, but I have to prioritise the g ⁓ the title. He said I've had a telling off, but that's the way it is. I actually think that's a pretty cool thing. They put him in a helmet in the team gear. He just looked like ⁓ same size dude and everything. ⁓ could have been Alex for all I know, but ⁓ Or it could have been his dad. Plenty of stories of ⁓ different drivers borrowing helmets and all that sort of stuff and hopping in cars when they should have out there. Heard a great one about Bathurst and a driver qualifying the car for a visiting overseas driver by putting the helmet and suit on. But yeah, let's go to a break because we'll come back and preview the Bathus one thousand. Winter could spell bad news for your vehicle's battery. Here are three maintenance tips from the battery gurus at RNJ Batteries. 1. Avoid frequent short trips to keep your battery at a healthy state of charge. 2. Keep the battery terminals clean and corrosion free. 3. Avoid running your accessories with the engine off for too long. If your battery is three years or older, it might be time to get it tested for free. At your local R and J Batteries. R and J Batteries power like nothing else. Right our mate, it's it's Supercar's Christmas essentially. start with the weather. It looks like it's gonna be dry, although maybe some rain on Saturday, or that seems to change on a day-to-day basis. But tops around twenty-on-to twenty-five, so it's not gonna be a scorcher by any stretch. The supports the 86s, Turing Cup Masters, Super Ute, Porsche Gruera Cup, and Super 2, of course. Supercars are out on track on Thursday at 12.30. Co-drivers are then out at 2.45. But the best qualifying session all year is on Friday at 3.10. And then the top 10 shootout is 24 hours later on Saturday at around 4 p.m. There's a bit on around town. Hell of a live show, apparently, on Wednesday that's sold out. As is the Track to Town. It's also on. There's some Peter Brock cars at the National Motor Racing Museum. And someone, Ray Dredge. ⁓ messaged me, he said, Hey Former, no one has talked about this, but it's actually twenty years since Mark Porter's tragic passing this weekend. Absolutely. So that's that was something Stefan and I were reflecting on on the in the car on the way up. Yeah. So there's also some drifts, some stunt team and some air ties. Hopefully ⁓ Mark Porter does get a mention at some stage during the weekend. Absolutely. We won't go through all the odds, but ⁓ I did send you the odds. Is there anything that grabs your eye? I think there's it's pretty straight up and down by the looks of it. ⁓ yeah. No, no, there might be a bit of value around some of the ruffies. Yeah. But we'll come to that when we have that conversation. Yeah. All right. Well, let's give me your podium. We'll start with how they're going to finish over the weekend. ⁓ I've got the eighty eight to win. I just think it's been too long since Triple H's won one of these big races. So I feel like ⁓ they're due, and I think Brock Feeney's due at Mount Panorama as well. ⁓ and then I've got the six and then the nineteen. So an all Mustang ⁓ sweep there. I've got Woody and Jackson Evans to get third. I've got Kai and Tim Slade to get second. And it'll be a penwright one two 'cause Matt Payne and Will Davison will get the win. The only thing I'm worried about that is is how pit stops all play out if there's two cars in contention from the one team. But ⁓ could be could be tricky, but still sit pretty fast cars there. ⁓ I can't go past Brady Castellan. To get it done ⁓ in ⁓ in qualifying. I haven't gone much further. Different to you there. What about best ruffy? ⁓ David Reynolds and James Courtney. Yeah. I still really like that combo for ⁓ for the Bathurne. Huge amount of experience at this circuit there. This is one of the circuits where we know Dave really excels. ⁓ we expect the Camaro to be a pretty handy package this weekend, ⁓ because history suggests that it is here at Bathurst. ⁓ and again, as we sit here, we don't know what's happening with barrow testing and all that sort of stuff. So I have them as a pretty handy ruffy at the I think it was twenty one bucks or whatever on your list of odds there. ⁓ like that's ⁓ that's not bad. I'm leaning on Andre Heimgartner and Bryce Fulward. I need the Toyota to be fast, but so but they're all and reliable. Yeah, well yeah, both of those things. So they're twenty one bucks. So I'm I'm hoping for a bit of luck for both of those things. How many safety cars? Because you remember only two years ago there was one in an all dry race. Yeah, I'll I'll go with five. Ooh, I've got two. I feel like it might be. Yeah. You'll probably win. Yeah. Cars on the lead lap at the checker, OVL. Well, because we have the stupid lucky dog rule, ⁓ I'll say there'll be twenty. I said eleven. But yeah. ⁓ unlikely headline from the weekend. ⁓ parody scrapped from Supercar's dictionary as manufacturers agree to get along. Mine's j equally as ridiculous. Super two runners give tow trucks and panel beaters nothing to do over the weekend. If this is the answer, what's the question? The answer is all three different marks. ⁓ who is banging on Tim Ebbard's door right now with their hand up? You got me. Almost word for word. If this is the answer, what's the question? The answer is a baroca, two sausage rolls, and a long black coffee. This has got to be something about your Thursday morning breakfast plan. What's standard issue with my ticket on Thursday morning? So Yeah, there you go. Nailed it. All right. Let's go to a break. ⁓ enjoy Bathurst, everyone. We'll obviously wrap it up after and Avial and Stefan will be doing dailies, so they will give you the news from the mountain every day. But we will wrap it up next week. But ⁓ geez, enjoy it. I can't wait. Yes, welcome back. Now the only place you wouldn't rather be if you're not going to be at Bathurst is where, AVL? In the Discord. That's right. I imagine it will be pretty hectic. ⁓ it was a live during that Grand Prix on on again another Grand Prix that at least was meant to start in a favorable time zone for the east coast of Australia. Got a bit late over there for you guys, was ⁓ still still pretty manageable in the west. But end up watching it on delay 'cause I watched the footy and was disappointed. Well, it was horrible timing for anyone hoping to watch both. Yeah. There was a time where it looked like it all could just flow into each other very, very nicely, at least the second half of the footy, and I didn't see a ⁓ I didn't see a second of the of the rugby league in the end, unfortunately. Yes. Because ⁓ yeah, that race just went for so long. So if you're not gonna be at Bathus Ruven, if you are, I guess, ⁓ and you're not a member, join FC T T N dot com and jump into the Discord because it will be pretty hectic during the weekend and you'll probably get a lot of news that you mightn't get in other places. Let's do credit or shredits. I'm gonna make a statement, you decide whether you agree or disagree with the credit or a shredit will come back ⁓ when we've done all six. Number one, if Brody isn't in the hunt for the championship at Adelaide, twenty twenty six will be seen as a failure. As a failure for Brody? You mean ⁓ credit. Credit. Number two, Ryland Gray will get a podium in supercars before Aaron Cameron. I hate these ones. Shreddit. Ooh. I wanna say Shreddit, but I'll say credit. Number three. We'll see who Sky F one values in their team by who they send to Abu Dhabi and Qatar. ⁓ Shredd. Credit. Number four. The difference between poll at Malaysia in twenty seventeen and on the weekend was five seconds. That isn't the big deal that people on social media are making it out to be. Credit. Yeah, credit. Number five, Castro rerunning the two thousand and seven livery of a Falcon best remembered for plumbing through the Chase Sand Trap is fraught with danger. Shredd. Credit. The only way we won't be talking about parody on Sunday afternoon at Bathurst is if it pours rain again. Yeah, credit. Credit. Yeah. I think Brody has to be in the final four when we get to Adelaide, surely. So I reckon Brody would see anything but a grand final berth as a failure himself. Like I I think I I'd say every year since twenty twenty. three that he sees anything except winning the title as a failure. Like that's how competitive that bloke is. So I think that's an easy credit there. Ryland before Aaron Cameron on the podium. ⁓ yeah, I I hate these ones 'cause there's no sort of great science or reason that can be applied to it and it sort of feels a little unfair of both drivers, but I went with Shredder because at the moment Camo's qualifying ceiling appears a little bit higher, even though it's inconsistent. And starting near the front is the best way to finish near the front. So Gutfield, I just think Roland might pull one and it might even be before the end of the year, just on a a Saturday race or something. We'll see if Sky values in their team by who they send Abu Dhabi and Qatar. Sh yeah, send Crofty over, make sure. I think I think as I said before, I think there's a long way to go to see if these races actually happen. This is an interesting one. The difference between Pilot Malaysia in twenty seventeen on the weekend was five seconds to the good of twenty seventeen, by the way. That isn't the big deal that people on social media are making it out to be. Well, I th I I mean people were raving about Max's lap, right? Like and you know, he was getting asked in the press conference where it ranks amongst his best. So, ⁓ I think that says it all. Hmm. I just don't think it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. Like when you're watching on T V or you're at the track, you're not gonna be able to tell. ⁓ it's let's be honest. Castro rerunning the twenties two thousand seven livery is a d is dangerous. Well, I said shred it because it was a heroic exit from contention at that race. ⁓ and it's a cool looking car, but also the retro liveries for Sandow, not Bathurst. So ⁓ is it? Technically, yeah. So history can't technically repeat itself because the car won't be carrying that livery this week. That's not as much fun. The only way we won't be talking about parody, I mean this is just a standard is we need it to rain again. Yep. Yeah, that's that sums it up. Whisper of the week. And I'll ask I'll ask you, have you heard this? There's a wild rumour, and it's a rumour. Blowing around that without a good result at Bathurst, one particular driver is set to be replaced by another from another team before the end of the year. Hmm. There you go. Heard anything? Do you think you know what it is? Forms tips. ⁓ yeah, I prefer not to speculate on news tip offs on a publicly available podcast. Well, that's why you'll never be on Motorsport 360, my friend. Our letter of the week comes from Dan Southey on Insta. I've already answered him, but I'm interested to hear your thoughts. He said, Hey former, thinking about your idea from a few months back of moving the timing line at Bathurst to the chase to allow cars to do qualifying laps by jumping into pits. Here's a counter idea. Opposed to moving the timing line, let's allow cars to enter the paddock via the access road after turn one. The same one they use after the checkered flag on Sunday. This road, Bathur Avenue, runs along the back of the paddock and back into the start of pit lane via the support dummy grid. It would add fifty-five seconds to the pit transit for cars who choose to use it. But it would be still quicker than doing a full in lap. What's your thoughts? ⁓ there's a few logistical and safety related issues here. Like obviously, you know, whatever the session, whether it's qualifying, particularly in qualifying, but in practice as well, drivers want to get back to the garage as quickly as possible. So all those areas coming off term one are all obviously at the moment they're basically public areas. If you've got a paddock pass, anyone can get there. So you would have to create a controlled environment with all of the safety or safety s infrastructure around it. And then you can't have cars arriving into pit entry from different directions at the same time. So yeah, it's it's I understand the the sheer logic of it, but it's would just be impossible to actually ⁓ facilitate. Yeah. I I said my idea is cleaner than yours, and that's where I gotta leave it. Well, mate, that'll do about doors for this episode of Full Crew of the Noise. Don't forget, you can find the show on all the socials at FCTTN Podcast. You can read ABL's excellent work at specafe.com over the weekend where they not only will be reporting, they'll be doing podcasting, and they do bake break all the big motorsport news first. Until next time, I've been Former, he's been ABL, this has been Full Crew of the Noise, and we'll see you at the Tattersels Hotel. ⁓ I can't wait for him. See you there. See ya. ⁓
