- 0:00Speaker 1: Come come on. Uh huh, I sure will. Good morning everybody.
- 0:09Speaker 1: You're listening to the voice, Come on dig me now,
- 0:12Speaker 1: one and only Steve Harvey got a radio show. Man
- 0:18Speaker 1: o man, oh man. Wow. I think about all the
- 0:22Speaker 1: things God has done for me as overwhelming at times,
- 0:26Speaker 1: and I want everybody to have that feeling and to
- 0:29Speaker 1: sharing that feeling of completion and satisfaction. And the only
- 0:34Speaker 1: reason I got this, and it's the thousandth time I've
- 0:37Speaker 1: said it, is because I formed a relationship with my creator. Period.
- 0:42Speaker 1: That's it. That's that's it. I can't tell you as
- 0:45Speaker 1: anything else else. You know, I've always had a strong
- 0:48Speaker 1: work ethic. My father put that in me. My father's
- 0:51Speaker 1: conversation with me growing up was always constantly about work hard,
- 0:56Speaker 1: don't be lazy, be a man, do what you say
- 0:58Speaker 1: you're gonna do. YadA YadA, YadA, YadA YadA. Man. I
- 1:02Speaker 1: was so tired of my father at times. I was going, Man,
- 1:04Speaker 1: what is with this dude? Right here? Man, every time
- 1:07Speaker 1: we have a conversation, it's got to be about work.
- 1:10Speaker 1: It's got to be about, you know, man, doing your best,
- 1:14Speaker 1: trying hard, you know, working, being honest, do what you
- 1:17Speaker 1: say you're gonna do. But that was his mission. I
- 1:22Speaker 1: can't tell you how much I appreciate that now. I
- 1:25Speaker 1: can't even I can't even put it into words when
- 1:27Speaker 1: I think about my old man and what he was
- 1:31Speaker 1: to me, and I just, man, I'm so grateful for
- 1:36Speaker 1: that balance I had in my life. And then my
- 1:38Speaker 1: father was a fighter. He fought on the weekends. You know.
- 1:44Speaker 1: My father used to come home with his clothes toe
- 1:47Speaker 1: off of him. He put a fresh shirt on, and
- 1:50Speaker 1: he go back. My mom used to talk about my
- 1:52Speaker 1: father fighting all the time, slick, while you're always fighting.
- 1:56Speaker 1: You know a little bit of that rubbed off on
- 1:59Speaker 1: me too. You know that kind of got into me,
- 2:01Speaker 1: and I didn't understand that either. But then on the
- 2:04Speaker 1: same turn, my mother was a Sunday school teacher for
- 2:06Speaker 1: forty years, so her conversation was never about fighting or anything.
- 2:10Speaker 1: It was all about love and understanding and doing another
- 2:14Speaker 1: that you would have to do under you. My mom
- 2:16Speaker 1: was a Sunday school teacher, so I learned about faith.
- 2:19Speaker 1: I had to go to Sunday school, prayer meeting, Bible study,
- 2:22Speaker 1: young people meeting, choir rehearsal. You know, I was a
- 2:25Speaker 1: church man so much I was actually looking as there's
- 2:28Speaker 1: got to be an alternative to this, you know. I
- 2:31Speaker 1: want you know, I was a little kid even I
- 2:34Speaker 1: was thinking at one point maybe I ought to look
- 2:36Speaker 1: in al because there's got to be something cooler than
- 2:38Speaker 1: this going on every day. It had got that crazy
- 2:41Speaker 1: for me. But the balance between those two people created
- 2:45Speaker 1: who I am today. And I want you to understand
- 2:48Speaker 1: that the things that you are in your past have
- 2:52Speaker 1: helped create who you are today. If you view it
- 2:55Speaker 1: the right way, everything that has happened to you and
- 2:59Speaker 1: your past has happened to you for a reason, and
- 3:03Speaker 1: it's usually for the good if you view it that way.
- 3:09Speaker 1: But if you, on the other hand, or a type
- 3:12Speaker 1: of person who can't move forward because you are allowing
- 3:15Speaker 1: your past to stop you from having your future, then you,
- 3:20Speaker 1: my friend, are doing a disservice to your life. You
- 3:26Speaker 1: are not honoring God's blessings. You are not taking advantage
- 3:31Speaker 1: of the gain, knowledge, wisdom, and experience of your life. Example,
- 3:38Speaker 1: if you are a woman and you are always talking
- 3:44Speaker 1: about a former relationship what he did to me. If
- 3:48Speaker 1: he had not did this to me, I wouldn't be
- 3:52Speaker 1: in this place today. I thought I had a man. Now,
- 3:56Speaker 1: I ain't got no man allah lah lah lah lah
- 4:01Speaker 1: if I you know he came along and I was
- 4:04Speaker 1: doing just swell. He just came in and he just
- 4:08Speaker 1: lied to me. He lied to me, nod. He did
- 4:12Speaker 1: this to me. Then he cheated, then he left. All
- 4:15Speaker 1: of that that you're saying can very well be true.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Have you thought that maybe maybe somewhere in God's infinite wisdom,
- 4:29Speaker 1: that he knew that you had made a mistake in
- 4:34Speaker 1: picking him anyway? Maybe he knew you had made a
- 4:38Speaker 1: mistake in saying yes or I do to him anyway,
- 4:43Speaker 1: or come on, move in? And so what he did
- 4:47Speaker 1: was based on your decision now to say yes, I do,
- 4:53Speaker 1: or come on, let's move in together. That was your decision.
- 4:56Speaker 1: You ain't go to him about this one. You made
- 4:59Speaker 1: this DECI based on that decision and all the negative
- 5:04Speaker 1: things that started happening, he allowed you to get away
- 5:08Speaker 1: from it. Now how you got away from it, it's
- 5:11Speaker 1: always not the choice of ours. See, you stuck on
- 5:15Speaker 1: the fact that he left, that he walked out. But
- 5:19Speaker 1: let me share this with you. When he was there,
- 5:21Speaker 1: how good was he? Tell you? How good was he
- 5:24Speaker 1: for you? See? You got to stare at You got
- 5:28Speaker 1: to look at the blessing. The blessing is. Now you
- 5:32Speaker 1: are on your own. Now you walk in your house.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Ain't nobody in there with a disruptive spirit. Now you
- 5:39Speaker 1: go home. You could take your clothes off, walk around
- 5:42Speaker 1: like you want to. Now you go home, you can
- 5:45Speaker 1: sit down and look at TV or catch your breath
- 5:48Speaker 1: if you want to. Your kids don't have to see
- 5:53Speaker 1: y'all arguing all the time. Have you looked at the
- 5:56Speaker 1: blessing in it? But now if you gonna keep looking
- 5:59Speaker 1: at the negative, didn't guess what? Now you can't move
- 6:03Speaker 1: forward because you keep allowing your past to keep you
- 6:09Speaker 1: from moving forward. If God has brought you through it,
- 6:13Speaker 1: why don't you move on from it? Look, you got
- 6:17Speaker 1: through it. He gone, he ain't coming back. He got
- 6:20Speaker 1: somebody else. So you gonna sit there and just keep
- 6:23Speaker 1: tripping cauts. He gone and he got somebody else. Hey,
- 6:27Speaker 1: pick yourself up. Thank God for the blessing. It didn't
- 6:31Speaker 1: feel like a blessing. Why you was going through it
- 6:34Speaker 1: and all the pain of him leaving and the divorce
- 6:36Speaker 1: and all that messed you up? Got it? When you
- 6:39Speaker 1: get through it, all of that, You ain't the first
- 6:41Speaker 1: one being left. You ain't the first one being divorced.
- 6:45Speaker 1: You ain't the first one been in a bad relationship.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Pick yourself up, thank God for the blessing, and move
- 6:52Speaker 1: forward in your life, because maybe when you quit complaining,
- 6:57Speaker 1: maybe you'll find out that God has something in store
- 7:01Speaker 1: for you that he wants you to have, but he
- 7:04Speaker 1: can't give it to you if you ain't grateful. So
- 7:07Speaker 1: God gives you a blessing, but because you don't see
- 7:09Speaker 1: it as a blessing, you ain't grateful for it. Now,
- 7:12Speaker 1: guess what, You steady asking God to do something for you,
- 7:16Speaker 1: but you ain't thanking him for what he's done for you,
- 7:19Speaker 1: but you steady wanting him to do more. How does
- 7:22Speaker 1: that work? How does that work? Man? That he should
- 7:26Speaker 1: keep on giving you things when you ain't even working
- 7:29Speaker 1: with the stuff he done gave you. And I don't know.
- 7:32Speaker 1: And I'm just using that one example. That could go
- 7:35Speaker 1: for me and too, vice versa, and so on and
- 7:38Speaker 1: so forth. I'm just using that as an example. Now,
- 7:41Speaker 1: why I laid on that one so long? You have
- 7:44Speaker 1: to take that over God. That's all just set. I
- 7:46Speaker 1: ain't pointing fingers at nobody in nothing, because I've been
- 7:49Speaker 1: guilty on both sides of the coin. Who am I,
- 7:53Speaker 1: But I'm just sharing with you what I had to do.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I had to learn to stop allowing my past to
- 7:59Speaker 1: interfere you with my future. You're listening to The Steve
- 8:03Speaker 1: Harvey Morning Show.
