- 0:05Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time. A wave original.
- 0:09Speaker 1: My name is Beaumont Jones. Thanks for listening wherever you
- 0:11Speaker 1: get your podcast. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
- 0:15Speaker 1: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
- 0:17Speaker 1: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
- 0:19Speaker 1: a hater. It is.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Hold on, I got a new name. First Fridays with Foxworth.
- 0:28Speaker 2: It works, I guess. Yeah, man, I'm telling you.
- 0:31Speaker 3: You make me feel guilty when you say it like that.
- 0:32Speaker 2: I ain't trying to make you feel guilty. I'm like,
- 0:34Speaker 2: what can I do? You know what I'm saying?
- 0:36Speaker 1: I'm down to make it happen, but it's first Fridays,
- 0:39Speaker 1: and that way, now people can look forward to the
- 0:41Speaker 1: specific occasion.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I miss it.
- 0:44Speaker 4: I still get, like, randomly, or not randomly, more and
- 0:49Speaker 4: more on the street, people, like, recognize me and say
- 0:51Speaker 4: they listen to my show, but for a long time,
- 0:54Speaker 4: or they see me on Get Up, but for a
- 0:56Speaker 4: long time, the thing I would get the most was like, oh,
- 1:00Speaker 4: I love you. And I'd be like, I get excited
- 1:02Speaker 4: a little bit on Fox or Friday.
- 1:05Speaker 3: And I'm like, yeah, I mean, that ain't really me though.
- 1:08Speaker 2: But it is you though. But it is you though.
- 1:10Speaker 2: That's the thing.
- 1:11Speaker 1: But also first Fridays at Foxworth has a phrasing that
- 1:15Speaker 1: is very important to African-Americans of certain bourgeoisness of our age.
- 1:20Speaker 2: As there was a time.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Where a first Friday, boy, let me tell you, Don't
- 1:23Speaker 1: nothing a black person with a degree love to do
- 1:26Speaker 1: more than go hang out with other black people who
- 1:29Speaker 1: have degrees where everybody knows that we're all here because
- 1:33Speaker 1: we have degrees. And so we pat each other on
- 1:35Speaker 1: the back by having degrees. And first Friday was such
- 1:39Speaker 1: an occasion.
- 1:41Speaker 4: That specific strain, I guess it's different than Jack and Jill,
- 1:46Speaker 4: but that's a whole nother conversation because- I don't know
- 1:49Speaker 4: nothing about that world.
- 1:50Speaker 3: That wasn't anything I was in.
- 1:52Speaker 4: So when I first had kids and we had a
- 1:54Speaker 4: little bit more money than I had as a kid,
- 1:56Speaker 4: people were like, you should do Jack and Jill. My wife,
- 1:59Speaker 4: who grew up more affluently than I did, was like, no. No,
- 2:04Speaker 4: we're not putting our kids in that.
- 2:06Speaker 1: See, this is why I love your wife.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Because on paper, Jack and Jill seems on the board.
- 2:11Speaker 2: But no, she actually a real one. This is important.
- 2:15Speaker 2: I do look back on it, though, because I.
- 2:18Speaker 1: There was always an emphasis, but my mother would try,
- 2:22Speaker 1: and I understand it better now as an adult, to
- 2:24Speaker 1: put me in situations to be around other middle to
- 2:27Speaker 1: upper middle class black kids because they weren't so many
- 2:31Speaker 1: of us, right? So we all need to get together.
- 2:33Speaker 1: But the thing is, I went to school with rural
- 2:36Speaker 1: working class people. So I did not meet these people
- 2:41Speaker 1: and feel like I was meeting my peers, right?
- 2:45Speaker 2: Like, I was just like, oh, this isn't my room either.
- 2:49Speaker 1: And I always wondered if I had gotten like a
- 2:51Speaker 1: little taste of Jack and Jill, maybe it would have
- 2:53Speaker 1: been good for me just so I wouldn't be so
- 2:56Speaker 1: mean to those people now.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Like, I don't like them at all.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Like, anytime somebody invites me to anything that I feel
- 3:03Speaker 1: like got a whiff.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Of that, I'm like, oh, you're one of them, huh? Yeah.
- 3:08Speaker 3: I would agree that....
- 3:11Speaker 4: You have this aversion to that group, which is probably
- 3:15Speaker 4: by all, most times it's you're better off not, but like, um,
- 3:19Speaker 4: I mentioned at, uh, up in Martha's vineyard going to
- 3:23Speaker 4: like the black Ivy league thing.
- 3:25Speaker 3: And, I could feel the eye roll through the text. Like,
- 3:30Speaker 3: some of them are cool, Bo. Like, some of them
- 3:33Speaker 3: are cool.
- 3:34Speaker 4: And my wife and I went to, like, Black Harvard
- 3:37Speaker 4: Alumni Weekend. And I remember, like, it's kind of cool
- 3:42Speaker 4: to me that both my wife and I are alumni
- 3:45Speaker 4: from this fancy school and we're going to this weekend
- 3:47Speaker 4: and it's going to be cool.
- 3:49Speaker 3: And all my friends, like, oh, that's dope. And Bo
- 3:51Speaker 3: is like... Oh, that's dope. Watch out. Don't, don't let,
- 3:56Speaker 3: don't catch it.
- 4:00Speaker 1: First of all, I don't think I realized that your
- 4:03Speaker 1: wife was also a Harvard alum.
- 4:05Speaker 2: I misunderstood that part. Okay. I get it.
- 4:07Speaker 1: It's a, it's a, and I mean, I imagine there's
- 4:10Speaker 1: another Dominique Fosworth walking around this somewhere. I, I, I, well, my,
- 4:15Speaker 1: my homeboy, um, I, he wrote his second book and he, um,
- 4:21Speaker 1: we went to high school together and like, he has
- 4:23Speaker 1: a much different background than even me where it's like his,
- 4:26Speaker 1: his brothers and his dad and all them.
- 4:28Speaker 3: They was, they was a pharmacist.
- 4:30Speaker 4: And they did some time as a result of his
- 4:32Speaker 4: mom was a teacher and he went on to like
- 4:34Speaker 4: go to Harvard and, and now it's a professor there.
- 4:37Speaker 5: And yeah, yeah you sound like we can kick it
- 4:42Speaker 5: yeah absolutely can kick it and there are a few
- 4:45Speaker 5: others like that but I get your point because when
- 4:48Speaker 5: I the funny thing is like they had at that
- 4:50Speaker 5: weekend they have so many like.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Meetings and conferences and seminars and whatever about all these
- 4:58Speaker 4: different things and then of course there are a few
- 5:00Speaker 4: well attended ones about like how we can address inequality
- 5:05Speaker 4: and it does have a feeling of how can we
- 5:09Speaker 4: fix them next?
- 5:12Speaker 3: It's like a little air of it. It's like a
- 5:14Speaker 3: little air of it. And not everyone is in there.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Cause you look around and other people roll in their
- 5:18Speaker 4: eyes too, but it all like, it's like, damn, what
- 5:21Speaker 4: are we going to do for them?
- 5:22Speaker 1: And you know what it is? And this is whether
- 5:24Speaker 1: it be Harvard, any of these other things, right? I
- 5:27Speaker 1: am apprehensive of any room, no matter who you are,
- 5:33Speaker 1: that you have to qualify to get into.
- 5:35Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 5:35Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 5:36Speaker 1: Any room where we tell people that you don't get
- 5:38Speaker 1: in because you have not achieved whatever that thing is, she, man,
- 5:42Speaker 1: they probably more fun than y'all.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Right?
- 5:45Speaker 1: Like, maybe that's what it is. I feel like you're
- 5:46Speaker 1: leaving the fun out the road. But I will say this.
- 5:49Speaker 1: There's one black man that I feel like.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Is everybody's kind of guy, and his name is Mike Tomlin.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 5:55Speaker 2: And National television, right?
- 5:57Speaker 1: Talk about this all the time, that if it's going
- 5:59Speaker 1: to look bad for you, don't make it look bad
- 6:01Speaker 1: for you on national television, because now this conversation goes
- 6:04Speaker 1: from inside the house to outside the house. And it
- 6:07Speaker 1: feels like everybody is in on it. And I don't
- 6:10Speaker 1: know how much those things matter in Pittsburgh, where they
- 6:12Speaker 1: seem to clearly move and operate at their own pace.
- 6:15Speaker 1: But bottom line is this Steelers team is not good.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers currently only has one hand that is operable.
- 6:22Speaker 1: And the other one is still 42 years old, right?
- 6:25Speaker 2: Can't lose sight of that. I bet he can't even
- 6:27Speaker 2: hold his hand steady.
- 6:28Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 6:28Speaker 2: Like, you ask him to go like this and see
- 6:29Speaker 2: what happens.
- 6:30Speaker 1: But anyway, now is the time that everybody is remembering
- 6:34Speaker 1: that Mike Thomas stopped winning playoff games when he wasn't
- 6:36Speaker 1: a black man as president no more, right? Apparently that
- 6:38Speaker 1: was a condition that was somewhat necessary to really, you.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Know, get to where he wanted to be.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I'm just saying, he won his first Super Bowl after
- 6:46Speaker 1: Obama got inaugurated.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Do you understand what I'm saying?
- 6:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Maybe that's what it is, right? I don't know. Anyway,
- 6:53Speaker 2: he ain't winning the playoff games.
- 6:55Speaker 1: And in Pittsburgh, they don't give a damn about no
- 6:57Speaker 1: goddamn Barack Obama or none of that. They kind of
- 7:00Speaker 1: want to know what's going on with the playoff wins,
- 7:02Speaker 1: where those haven't been.
- 7:04Speaker 2: It's a fair point.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I don't know if the coach is the reason that
- 7:08Speaker 1: this has been the case for those nine years, but
- 7:10Speaker 1: it is also fair for people to say anybody else
- 7:13Speaker 1: would have gotten fired to the maybe it ain't as
- 7:16Speaker 1: much racism no more, people.
- 7:18Speaker 2: If I were you and.
- 7:19Speaker 1: I were trying to make that point, I would say
- 7:21Speaker 1: the only two coaches that I could think of that
- 7:23Speaker 1: have existed like this in modern times were him and
- 7:26Speaker 1: Marvin Lewis. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, I'm
- 7:31Speaker 1: just saying.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Forgive me, the devil don't need no advocate.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I'm just saying that before they can say it, I'm
- 7:38Speaker 1: going to say it and make jokes about it.
- 7:39Speaker 2: But the Steelers look bad against the Bills.
- 7:43Speaker 1: This week they play against Baltimore, who also look bad
- 7:46Speaker 1: and have a head coach who has been there just
- 7:48Speaker 1: about as long that I would make the argument needs
- 7:51Speaker 1: to be fired. But if I am making the argument
- 7:54Speaker 1: that he needs to be fired, it then becomes very
- 7:55Speaker 1: difficult for me to not make the argument that Mike
- 7:57Speaker 1: Tomlin needs to be fired. The difference in their two cases, however,
- 8:00Speaker 1: is very clear. One of them has had a quarterback
- 8:02Speaker 1: since 2018, and one of them has not.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:06Speaker 3: I am biased in both cases. Yes. For different reasons.
- 8:10Speaker 4: And so, like, I think we can start with the
- 8:15Speaker 4: Harbaugh thing. It's like the one thing about Harbaugh that
- 8:18Speaker 4: I respect and appreciate and I think would be I'd
- 8:22Speaker 4: worry about losing is the ability to run a stable
- 8:27Speaker 4: organization while changing parts is a hard thing to do
- 8:31Speaker 4: and changing the way that they attack, like the transition from,
- 8:34Speaker 4: from Joe to Lamar wasn't easy. And then the transition
- 8:39Speaker 4: of the offense from what's his name?
- 8:44Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 8:44Speaker 3: From Roman to Munkin hasn't been easy, but it worked.
- 8:49Speaker 4: And then they had, multiple defensive coordinator transitions where they
- 8:53Speaker 4: launched a career uh one guy and they are working
- 8:56Speaker 4: on another guy and before that they were.
- 8:58Speaker 3: Wink martin they were crazy blitz.
- 8:59Speaker 4: Like it's just like unique things that i think some
- 9:03Speaker 4: of those things aren't as obvious in there and they're
- 9:05Speaker 4: tough to do i can understand though that the idea
- 9:08Speaker 4: that you haven't gotten over a certain hump that's fine
- 9:10Speaker 4: i think you and i are reasonable enough to know
- 9:13Speaker 4: that it don't mean it's going to get better you
- 9:16Speaker 4: can look at penn state like don't assume that it's
- 9:19Speaker 4: going to get better So you have to understand that
- 9:21Speaker 4: the risk that you're taking is like what you're saying
- 9:24Speaker 4: by firing your coach, your good coach.
- 9:26Speaker 3: So like if your coach stinks, then he's like, all right,
- 9:29Speaker 3: can't be no worse. Get out of here. It's different.
- 9:31Speaker 4: It's a different calculation when you have a coach who
- 9:33Speaker 4: has made things stable. What you're doing is now, all right,
- 9:37Speaker 4: we want a championship so bad that we're willing to
- 9:40Speaker 4: entertain the idea of being trash. And people who are
- 9:46Speaker 4: a part of good organizations, like fans of good organizations
- 9:49Speaker 4: like the Ravens, And the Steelers don't acknowledge, they don't
- 9:53Speaker 4: even imagine what it's like to be a Jets fan
- 9:56Speaker 4: or a Giants fan or a Raiders fan or a
- 10:00Speaker 4: Cardinals fan.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Like, look around the league. Most of these teams stink
- 10:06Speaker 3: for long periods of time. And you guys are mad, which, like,
- 10:09Speaker 3: I get it. It's fine.
- 10:10Speaker 4: You could want more and want better and expect more
- 10:13Speaker 4: and expect better. But you guys are mad because you
- 10:16Speaker 4: haven't won a Super Bowl. So that's all you just
- 10:20Speaker 4: have to. That's the thing that I worry about is
- 10:22Speaker 4: people who are saying this don't aren't doing the actual
- 10:25Speaker 4: calculation that the probability is that you're going to get
- 10:28Speaker 4: a bad coach, not that you're going to get an improvement.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Now, and for them, they feel like no, because the
- 10:33Speaker 1: last three coaches that they have hired over this span
- 10:35Speaker 1: of 60 something year or nearly 60 years have been
- 10:40Speaker 1: coaches who have not simply won Super Bowls, but have
- 10:43Speaker 1: been to multiple Super Bowls.
- 10:45Speaker 2: This has happened. With both of them.
- 10:47Speaker 1: The thing for me with the Steelers that I do
- 10:49Speaker 1: think is worth pointing out, and this is perhaps a
- 10:52Speaker 1: function of my age, the Tomlin lied that the standard
- 10:57Speaker 1: is the standard. Well, what is, the standard is the standard,
- 11:00Speaker 1: but you didn't answer my question.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Right?
- 11:03Speaker 1: What exactly is the standard when people talk about Pittsburgh?
- 11:05Speaker 1: Because people say the standard is Super Bowls, and that
- 11:08Speaker 1: is not true. They went to four Super Bowls in
- 11:11Speaker 1: six years under Chuck Knowles. And that was an unreal
- 11:15Speaker 1: run in a way that cannot be replicated in this
- 11:18Speaker 1: day and age.
- 11:19Speaker 2: But that was an unreal run.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Since then, as a franchise, and this is over a
- 11:24Speaker 1: span of 40-something years, they have been to four Super Bowls, right?
- 11:29Speaker 2: They've been during the 80s.
- 11:32Speaker 1: I think they went to an AFC championship game in there,
- 11:34Speaker 1: I think in 84 against Miami.
- 11:36Speaker 2: But otherwise, eh, they was just kind of there.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Coward got the thing back rolling, but Coward also had
- 11:43Speaker 1: like a three-year dip where they did not make the playoffs.
- 11:45Speaker 1: And then it's like win a playoff game here, win
- 11:48Speaker 1: a playoff game there. He got that Super Bowl all
- 11:50Speaker 1: the way toward the end. Tomlin, it was stronger in
- 11:53Speaker 1: the beginning game, I think that with the talent that
- 11:56Speaker 1: they've had in the last few years, getting to the
- 11:58Speaker 1: playoffs or whatever it has been is fairly impressive.
- 12:01Speaker 2: They have a quarterback problem.
- 12:02Speaker 1: They've been had a quarterback problem and they haven't made
- 12:04Speaker 1: a big move to get another quarterback because that's between Ben,
- 12:08Speaker 1: outside of Ben Roethlisberger and Terry Bradshaw, they have had
- 12:11Speaker 1: the mess quarterbacks over a span of decades. You can't
- 12:16Speaker 1: do it with the, with Neil O'Donnell at this point
- 12:19Speaker 1: in time, you can't do it with old Aaron Rogers.
- 12:22Speaker 1: They tried with Kenny Pickett. I could have told you
- 12:25Speaker 1: that wasn't going to work, right? So I don't know
- 12:28Speaker 1: what exactly is expected, but I do think it's fair
- 12:31Speaker 1: to say, bro, Howie ain't won not one playoff game
- 12:34Speaker 1: in this time period. But not one of them has
- 12:36Speaker 1: been a playoff game I thought they were supposed to win.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Right.
- 12:38Speaker 4: But I mean, I think that's why, that's part of
- 12:40Speaker 4: the reason why you criticize the coach is like, win
- 12:43Speaker 4: the ones that you're not supposed to win. A coach who,
- 12:46Speaker 4: I think most people would argue, wins a lot of
- 12:48Speaker 4: regular season games that he's not supposed to win. That's
- 12:50Speaker 4: why he's made the playoffs a lot more than... he
- 12:53Speaker 4: was supposed to and been over 500 a lot more
- 12:56Speaker 4: times than he was supposed to win. One of those
- 12:58Speaker 4: playoff games that you're, that you're not supposed to win
- 13:01Speaker 4: is a fair criticism over this amount of time because
- 13:03Speaker 4: they've been like good this whole time. So like, yeah,
- 13:06Speaker 4: that's fair. The, the state to the point about the
- 13:09Speaker 4: standard is the standard. The, the reason why that's such
- 13:12Speaker 4: a masterful thing is you can make it mean whatever
- 13:15Speaker 4: you want. It's about, it's about showing up on time
- 13:18Speaker 4: and playing hard. It's not about actually winning championships. It's,
- 13:22Speaker 4: It's about conducting yourself with dignity and respect. Like, he
- 13:25Speaker 4: ain't say nothing. Like, the standard just means, like, yeah.
- 13:28Speaker 4: Or the standard could be, like, be happy, have a
- 13:31Speaker 4: good time, be kind to people.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Right. That's the standard. So, like, he ain't really said nothing.
- 13:35Speaker 4: That's the master of those type of cliches or the
- 13:40Speaker 4: genius of those type of cliches is you throw them
- 13:42Speaker 4: out there and people, myself included, are like, oh, yeah,
- 13:46Speaker 4: you see the way he said that?
- 13:48Speaker 3: And then you get home and you're like... He ain't
- 13:50Speaker 3: saying shit.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Yo, he's so good at keeping it simple and not
- 13:53Speaker 1: giving you anything, but that should be feeling profound.
- 13:56Speaker 3: Don't it?
- 13:56Speaker 2: You know, like when that.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Person, I think it was a woman, I can't remember,
- 14:00Speaker 1: but asked him about cover three against the four verts,
- 14:02Speaker 1: and he said he did not want to explain it,
- 14:04Speaker 1: but he was impressed by the depth of the question
- 14:06Speaker 1: because it ain't no explanation, Mike. And for people who
- 14:09Speaker 1: need to understand what's going on here, cover three, there
- 14:12Speaker 1: are three deep defensive backs, four verts. Those three got
- 14:16Speaker 1: to guard four people.
- 14:17Speaker 7: What?
- 14:19Speaker 2: Answer, Mike Tomlin, is y'all fucked up.
- 14:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, the answer to that is probably the
- 14:28Speaker 4: hold defenders or the curl flat defenders will carry the verts,
- 14:31Speaker 4: which then opens up the curl flat. Like, it's a
- 14:33Speaker 4: much more complicated answer to that. There is no perfect
- 14:36Speaker 4: answer for any of that. But yeah, giving.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Somebody a compliment. And you're the head coach. You're Mike Tomlin.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Well done. That's a move there.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Well done. Well done. Well done.
- 14:46Speaker 3: That's your question.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Yeah, but I will.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Your point about you don't know who you're going to
- 14:50Speaker 1: get is an important one. Because the thing about the
- 14:53Speaker 1: Steelers is we can operate on the assumption that they'll
- 14:55Speaker 1: go get a good head coach because they did 35
- 15:00Speaker 1: years ago.
- 15:01Speaker 2: And then they did again 20 years ago.
- 15:03Speaker 1: And they did previously 55 years ago.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Ugh!
- 15:08Speaker 1: Right?
- 15:08Speaker 2: Like that's a.
- 15:09Speaker 1: there aren't that many of them around here and they
- 15:13Speaker 1: have an infrastructure. We are assuming that we think can
- 15:15Speaker 1: support whatever it is, but you're right. And for people
- 15:18Speaker 1: who don't know what's going on at Penn state, they
- 15:19Speaker 1: can't give that job away right now for whatever reason,
- 15:23Speaker 1: signing day has come. And I think they had class
- 15:26Speaker 1: 125 because they only got like five people because they
- 15:29Speaker 1: still don't have a coach.
- 15:30Speaker 2: They got mad that day.
- 15:32Speaker 1: And decided they were sick of james franklin understandable if
- 15:36Speaker 1: you always say i can make an argument for firing
- 15:38Speaker 1: anybody right okay they did it but you're right who
- 15:41Speaker 1: were you gonna hire that should have been a little
- 15:43Speaker 1: bit more clearly explained i thought it was going to
- 15:45Speaker 1: be matt rule apparently they thought it was going to
- 15:48Speaker 1: be matt rule because it's not matt rule and they
- 15:50Speaker 1: still don't have a coach but if the steelers mess
- 15:53Speaker 1: around in this place where they're in because they're still
- 15:55Speaker 1: not going to have a high draft pick because they're
- 15:57Speaker 1: still going to be pretty good right What's it going
- 16:00Speaker 1: to be? And Steelers fans, y'all don't know nothing about
- 16:03Speaker 1: them hardscrabble mean streets.
- 16:05Speaker 3: Yeah, and they're going to get to know it.
- 16:07Speaker 4: Or they might not. Maybe they'll figure it out again.
- 16:08Speaker 4: And I think they've hired good coaches, but your point
- 16:13Speaker 4: is a good one. They don't have experience doing it.
- 16:17Speaker 4: It could be luck. And I think no disrespect to
- 16:20Speaker 4: Chuck Knoll, but I feel differently about pre-free agency dynasties
- 16:25Speaker 4: than I do about preseason. post free agency dynasties. And like,
- 16:29Speaker 4: it's a different situation. Like, yeah, things worked out. Y'all
- 16:32Speaker 4: had a hall of fame, had fucking 10 hall of
- 16:34Speaker 4: famers on defense.
- 16:36Speaker 3: All right. And they couldn't go nowhere.
- 16:38Speaker 4: No matter what they couldn't, they could not stress your
- 16:41Speaker 4: cap because it didn't exist. And like, it's a little
- 16:44Speaker 4: different situation. And yeah, there are some advancements and developments made.
- 16:47Speaker 4: Like I respect that. But then the coward situation was
- 16:50Speaker 4: more closer to reality. What you're dealing with now is
- 16:54Speaker 4: it ain't reality, man.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Like this is not. And so, I get it.
- 16:57Speaker 4: My only point is not that he doesn't deserve to
- 16:59Speaker 4: get fired because, I mean, forget deserve.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Yeah, right.
- 17:02Speaker 2: That's an irrelevant factor.
- 17:04Speaker 3: That's an irrelevant factor.
- 17:05Speaker 4: My point is not that it's unreasonable to fire Mike Tomlin.
- 17:09Speaker 4: It's reasonable to fire Mike Tomlin. My only point is
- 17:13Speaker 4: understand that you quitting your job and the.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Market out there right now is not for employees. It
- 17:23Speaker 3: never is. So, yeah, go ahead and quit your job
- 17:26Speaker 3: if you want to.
- 17:28Speaker 4: I don't know what you're going to end up doing,
- 17:29Speaker 4: but you may not like it nearly as much as
- 17:31Speaker 4: what you got now.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Yo, and right now, this is not a time where
- 17:37Speaker 1: I feel like I'm hearing that this is the next
- 17:39Speaker 1: head coach name, right?
- 17:41Speaker 2: So, for example, old Big Brain Ben.
- 17:44Speaker 1: I got to stop calling him Big Brain Ben because
- 17:45Speaker 1: apparently some of that big-brainedness was actually Dan Campbell, and
- 17:49Speaker 1: it's actually Big Boy Ben who take his shirt off
- 17:52Speaker 1: and is kind of swole and dance around with his players.
- 17:55Speaker 2: But anyway.
- 17:56Speaker 1: If the Steelers job is open last year, they are
- 18:01Speaker 1: probably the move that Ben Johnson makes, even if they
- 18:04Speaker 1: don't have the quarterback right now, because they're going to
- 18:06Speaker 1: give you the time and we're going to figure out
- 18:08Speaker 1: who is going.
- 18:09Speaker 2: To be your best chance for success.
- 18:11Speaker 1: I don't know who the name is if you decide
- 18:14Speaker 1: that Mike Tomlin is not going to be your coach anymore.
- 18:16Speaker 1: I don't know who the guy is that you then say, okay,
- 18:19Speaker 1: we're going to hire and make this happen. Now, to
- 18:21Speaker 1: be fair, we damn sure didn't know who the guy
- 18:23Speaker 1: was when they hired Mike Tomlin.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 18:26Speaker 4: That's the same point. The same with Harbaugh. Apparently, Mike
- 18:29Speaker 4: Tomlin was... someone that the Roonies knew of and were
- 18:33Speaker 4: really impressed by.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Because Tomlin got the Rooney Rule interview with.
- 18:38Speaker 3: It worked.
- 18:39Speaker 2: I forget which team.
- 18:40Speaker 1: But, you know, Levitard always tells a story about how
- 18:43Speaker 1: the Dolphins were going to hire him, but they did
- 18:46Speaker 1: not because he was, and I.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Quote, too hip-hop, unquote.
- 18:50Speaker 1: And then they hired Cam Cameron and went 1-15. What
- 18:55Speaker 1: an amazing tale. But I think that that's what the
- 18:58Speaker 1: Broodies heard about was that interview.
- 19:00Speaker 4: Would you feel any differently about the two hip-hop line
- 19:04Speaker 4: if they wrote, like, I don't think our fan base
- 19:08Speaker 4: would be comfortable with it?
- 19:09Speaker 3: No, there's really no way to be like, he too black.
- 19:11Speaker 3: There's really no way.
- 19:12Speaker 1: The thing about the two hip-hop part is, guys, we
- 19:15Speaker 1: have seen Mike Toblin.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Like, for a long time, he know how to act
- 19:20Speaker 2: on an interview, right?
- 19:22Speaker 1: Like, they act like Mike Toblin, they act like he
- 19:25Speaker 1: went in there like the Fresh Prince in jazz.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Like, hey, how you doing?
- 19:29Speaker 3: Right?
- 19:29Speaker 2: Dabbed him up and then fell backwards. Like, he was
- 19:31Speaker 2: in there waiting on them, like....
- 19:35Speaker 3: My bad.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Who going first?
- 19:36Speaker 3: My name is Mike, and I'm here to.
- 19:40Speaker 2: It's like, who?
- 19:41Speaker 3: Who? What do you have to do? He come in
- 19:43Speaker 3: there and throw down some cardboard and start break dancing?
- 19:46Speaker 3: And hold on.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Keep in mind, everything else about the interview was impressive
- 19:51Speaker 1: enough that from the way the story is told, they
- 19:54Speaker 1: thought that he was somebody that you.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Should hire except he was too hip-hop.
- 19:58Speaker 1: So what was he doing that was so hip-hop or
- 20:02Speaker 1: how low was the hip-hop threshold such that you decided, nope.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Cam Cameron. He's our guy.
- 20:11Speaker 3: I mean, it seems obvious that it's just like a euphemism. Like, yes,
- 20:14Speaker 3: we don't want no black.
- 20:16Speaker 2: We don't want nobody black.
- 20:18Speaker 1: And then many years ago, and I think this is
- 20:20Speaker 1: a different ownership group. They eventually did hire Brian Florence,
- 20:25Speaker 1: who I think was a different kind of hip hop
- 20:27Speaker 1: that they didn't like.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Yeah, they wasn't down for mob deep hip hop. And like,
- 20:30Speaker 3: looking back on it.
- 20:34Speaker 4: Reports did a pretty good damn job like maybe he's
- 20:36Speaker 4: the guy that you should be looking at while he's
- 20:39Speaker 4: in the middle of suing the nfl.
- 20:42Speaker 1: I feel confident saying through a little knowledge and understanding
- 20:47Speaker 1: and paying paying more attention to the situation he will
- 20:52Speaker 1: never be a head coach and i will never complain
- 20:57Speaker 1: about it.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Maybe you know more than i know yeah no.
- 21:01Speaker 1: No he um He, I can understand why it is.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Because basically the Dolphins got him out of there because
- 21:07Speaker 1: they're like, hey, man, don't nobody like him, bro.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Like, he's a tough guy to be around.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Right.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:15Speaker 4: I won't push any further. But yeah, there's lots of
- 21:18Speaker 4: people who are tough to be around. The results matter
- 21:22Speaker 4: more than anything else. And I think that the, what
- 21:25Speaker 4: the Steelers do next would be interesting.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Well, hold on, hold on.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Sometimes how tough you are to be around has an
- 21:31Speaker 1: adverse effect on your results.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Fair point. Fair point.
- 21:34Speaker 6: Yes.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Maybe, yeah.
- 21:35Speaker 4: Some people are also built to be coordinators, and I
- 21:37Speaker 4: think you can look up in New England and say,
- 21:39Speaker 4: all right, that man coordinated shit out that offense.
- 21:42Speaker 2: Yes.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I mean, Bill Belichick is built to be a coordinator.
- 21:45Speaker 1: He just had Tom Brady.
- 21:46Speaker 3: That's fair.
- 21:47Speaker 1: I think he did a great job coaching those teams,
- 21:49Speaker 1: but he's built to be a coordinator because of how
- 21:53Speaker 1: he act.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:54Speaker 3: Mike Tomlin, built to be a head coach. Yes, he is.
- 21:57Speaker 2: He's a head coach.
- 22:00Speaker 3: He's a head coach people.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Yep.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Yep.
- 22:04Speaker 1: This is going to be something to see because they
- 22:06Speaker 1: got this game against the Ravens and Lamar Jackson is
- 22:08Speaker 1: playing like boo-boo. I'm not hearing much about it. I mean,
- 22:11Speaker 1: you live closer. So maybe there is hardball talk that
- 22:14Speaker 1: I'm not hearing. But if they don't make the playoffs,
- 22:16Speaker 1: I don't see how he can still be your coach.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:18Speaker 4: I mean, they chanted the same thing they did to Tomlin.
- 22:20Speaker 4: I don't remember which game it was. A few weeks ago,
- 22:22Speaker 4: they were chanting fire hardball. And I think a lot
- 22:26Speaker 4: of that was tied to, obviously, it's tied to their
- 22:29Speaker 4: playoff disappointments. But a lot of it was also tied
- 22:32Speaker 4: to the decision to start Cooper Rush over Snoop. Fans
- 22:35Speaker 4: didn't like that because Snoop had had success in the past.
- 22:38Speaker 4: But then Lamar came back. They reeled off a few wins,
- 22:41Speaker 4: even though they were ugly wins, and everybody got quiet.
- 22:44Speaker 4: If they end up missing the playoffs and losing the
- 22:47Speaker 4: division to this not very good Steelers team, the conversations
- 22:51Speaker 4: will pop back up. But I don't see it actually
- 22:53Speaker 4: leading to anything unless— there's some conversation inside the locker room.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Let me be straight with you.
- 22:59Speaker 4: Unless Lamar is upset, I don't see them reacting to
- 23:03Speaker 4: the fans that way because I think that they have
- 23:05Speaker 4: a situation there between Ozzie still being around, DaCosta being
- 23:09Speaker 4: the general manager. I think they have an idea of
- 23:12Speaker 4: a future head coach at some point. I don't think
- 23:16Speaker 4: they think that point is now unless their hand gets
- 23:19Speaker 4: forced by just a terrible fall off.
- 23:23Speaker 2: It's very interesting that people think this division is terrible.
- 23:25Speaker 1: I think the NFC South is probably worse, but we
- 23:29Speaker 1: have seen this as a terrible division. And we walked
- 23:31Speaker 1: into this year thinking that this division was rock solid.
- 23:34Speaker 1: It just had the Browns in it.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Yeah. The Bengals. I don't know.
- 23:39Speaker 4: The Bengals need to, that one Superbowl run really got
- 23:43Speaker 4: us confused about who the Bengals always is.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Specifically Zach Taylor.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Like we thought we knew, we thought we knew. And
- 23:49Speaker 2: then they went to a Superbowl.
- 23:52Speaker 3: And they keep reminding us every year.
- 23:54Speaker 4: And I mean, I guess you forgive them because of
- 23:56Speaker 4: the burrow injuries and the slow starts. The defenses have
- 23:59Speaker 4: been bad, switching out coordinators. But I just had this
- 24:02Speaker 4: before I got on with you. I was talking to
- 24:04Speaker 4: my producers about the show that we're going to do.
- 24:06Speaker 4: And they are trying to convince me to have a
- 24:07Speaker 4: conversation about taking the Bengals playoff run seriously.
- 24:12Speaker 3: And I won't do it. I won't do it. I
- 24:16Speaker 3: won't do it. I didn't do it last year. I'm
- 24:18Speaker 3: not doing it this year. I won't do it. And
- 24:21Speaker 3: they were like, what if they beat the Bills?
- 24:23Speaker 1: So?
- 24:24Speaker 3: What if they beat the Ravens? So?
- 24:26Speaker 4: And they're like, the last three games after that are
- 24:28Speaker 4: definitely easy and winnable. I guarantee you they lose. Between
- 24:32Speaker 4: now and the end of the season, they'll lose one
- 24:35Speaker 4: or two of these five games. Whether it's to the
- 24:37Speaker 4: teams that are better than them or to the teams
- 24:39Speaker 4: that are worse than them, I don't know, but not.
- 24:42Speaker 2: A serious outfit.
- 24:44Speaker 1: There is nothing better than when a Sam-I-Am moment just
- 24:47Speaker 1: jumps up out of nowhere. We did not, not in
- 24:50Speaker 1: a boat, not on a goat. No, sirree, Bob. Coming
- 24:54Speaker 1: up next, I'm going to ask Dominique what he thinks
- 24:56Speaker 1: about what Shador has looked like so far.
- 24:59Speaker 2: And also, Giannis might want to trade.
- 25:03Speaker 3: All right.
- 25:03Speaker 2: We are back with Dominique Foxworth.
- 25:06Speaker 1: I have talked about your door a couple of times
- 25:08Speaker 1: without you in your expertise as a defensive back.
- 25:11Speaker 2: And it's just a generally reasonable person. What we got here.
- 25:16Speaker 4: I mean, we got a lot of noise around a
- 25:20Speaker 4: situation that does not deserve to be that noisy. I mean,
- 25:27Speaker 4: that's the best way I could put it.
- 25:28Speaker 3: I think.
- 25:29Speaker 4: It's funny because you can't help but react to something
- 25:32Speaker 4: that everyone else is reacting to.
- 25:34Speaker 3: You don't have to like publicly react, but like you
- 25:36Speaker 3: have a reaction.
- 25:37Speaker 4: So like, I think I've swung back and forth based
- 25:42Speaker 4: on the, like the, what I felt was the predominant,
- 25:44Speaker 4: like a story around him or the predominant feeling around
- 25:48Speaker 4: him through the draft and through his college career until now,
- 25:52Speaker 4: it's like the pendulum swings. And I always feel like
- 25:54Speaker 4: my reaction or my feeling about it is like, I
- 25:58Speaker 4: don't really care about this.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Everybody cares about this, but they're not seeing that this
- 26:02Speaker 3: is different.
- 26:03Speaker 4: And so the most latest thing is like when he
- 26:05Speaker 4: got his first playing time in the Ravens game, it
- 26:08Speaker 4: felt like, oh, he's terrible. And I watched those those
- 26:11Speaker 4: games and I was like, hey, guys, they didn't protect them.
- 26:14Speaker 4: The two times they protected him, he went down field. Well,
- 26:17Speaker 4: the interception was a panicked, terrible throw. But generally, like
- 26:21Speaker 4: I think there's there's nothing to really pull from this
- 26:25Speaker 4: particular game. Then he goes and wins the next game,
- 26:27Speaker 4: has that incredible throw. And then it feels like the
- 26:31Speaker 4: narrative around him, I shouldn't use that word anymore, it's dead.
- 26:34Speaker 4: It feels like the push behind him is like, see.
- 26:37Speaker 3: He did it. He did it.
- 26:39Speaker 4: He got to talk about his teammates more after he win,
- 26:41Speaker 4: but he did it. And then I rewatched that game
- 26:44Speaker 4: and I'm like, that play was incredible. But he didn't
- 26:48Speaker 4: really do much in that game. It feels like we're
- 26:52Speaker 4: still in a situation where we're trying to really assess
- 26:55Speaker 4: this guy. And to be fair, if he were a
- 26:57Speaker 4: first round pick, he would be giving us enough right now.
- 27:00Speaker 4: I think for us to be like, all right, there's
- 27:04Speaker 4: something there we can build around it, but he's not a.
- 27:07Speaker 3: First round pick.
- 27:08Speaker 4: And I don't think he's done nearly enough for us
- 27:11Speaker 4: to be talking about like what they going to do.
- 27:14Speaker 3: Maybe they going to build around it.
- 27:15Speaker 4: Which it feels like some people are arguing that that's a,
- 27:18Speaker 4: A real thing.
- 27:19Speaker 3: They're going to draft some more quarterbacks, guys. It's going
- 27:21Speaker 3: to happen.
- 27:22Speaker 2: As soon as they can.
- 27:23Speaker 3: Of course. Which is next year. They got two first-round picks.
- 27:26Speaker 2: I mean, as soon in that draft as they can.
- 27:30Speaker 1: And by the way, I don't know if you'd seen this,
- 27:32Speaker 1: but apparently I saw a report that said, oh, here
- 27:34Speaker 1: we go. Browns open 21-day practice window, but Deshaun Watson
- 27:38Speaker 1: on nasty ass.
- 27:42Speaker 2: They are trying to make.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Sure that one of these many quarterbacks they have, right?
- 27:48Speaker 1: all of whom are kind of like the jack of hearts. Well,
- 27:53Speaker 1: not even all, to be honest. Some of them are
- 27:55Speaker 1: like eights. But they are going to see if at
- 27:59Speaker 1: all they have somebody there and they are still entertaining
- 28:01Speaker 1: the possibility that Deshaun Watson off.
- 28:05Speaker 2: An Achilles tear, was it? That maybe he still got
- 28:09Speaker 2: something left.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:12Speaker 4: This is one of those situations where I would be, which...
- 28:16Speaker 4: I guess the fact that he's shown that he can
- 28:18Speaker 4: be an elite quarterback is enough that you would want
- 28:20Speaker 4: to give it a shot.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Yeah, five years ago.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Yeah, but I would be scared that he actually played well.
- 28:28Speaker 4: Which I never want to be in a situation where
- 28:30Speaker 4: I'm rooting against my own guys.
- 28:32Speaker 2: You know?
- 28:34Speaker 4: And so like, if he played well for a short stretch,
- 28:40Speaker 4: we talking about extending him?
- 28:42Speaker 3: That's what we talking about doing, guys.
- 28:44Speaker 4: Which like, Would lead to some cap relief in the
- 28:48Speaker 4: short term, but not in the long term.
- 28:50Speaker 3: I don't know, man. Let's see what this draft's talking about.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Hey, and by the way, for the Browns, as I
- 28:56Speaker 1: look at this, their draft seems to have been okay.
- 29:00Speaker 3: They've had a lot of good drafts. Like, the roster
- 29:02Speaker 3: ain't terrible, man. Yeah, and they have.
- 29:05Speaker 1: I will just, to stop this from becoming, go to
- 29:09Speaker 1: a place that's too far, perhaps, one of the best
- 29:12Speaker 1: defensive linemen of all time.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Oh, no, it won't go too far with me.
- 29:18Speaker 2: I'm just, I would say it for myself.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Like, we are approaching Lawrence Taylor territory in what we're seeing.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Like, Reggie White territory in what we're seeing.
- 29:28Speaker 4: If they had ever made any good runs in the playoffs,
- 29:32Speaker 4: the way that we talk about him would be entirely
- 29:35Speaker 4: different right now. Like, we would be, the like we
- 29:38Speaker 4: talk about aaron donald like he's one of the best
- 29:40Speaker 4: detect like he is the best detect whoever i think
- 29:43Speaker 4: that that argument could be made in part because he
- 29:45Speaker 4: has some memorable playoff runs but i could think of
- 29:48Speaker 4: other guys who were as effective and as important nobody
- 29:53Speaker 4: and maybe i'm gonna get myself in trouble i watched
- 29:56Speaker 4: a lot of football Ain't nobody been like this, man.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Yeah, to me, it's Lawrence Taylor and Reggie White in
- 30:03Speaker 1: the pass rusher category.
- 30:06Speaker 2: Pass rusher outright destroyed.
- 30:07Speaker 3: He's both, though.
- 30:08Speaker 2: That's the thing. That's what I was about to say.
- 30:10Speaker 1: The thing about Lawrence Taylor is those other two guys
- 30:12Speaker 1: are so much bigger than him. There's a difference between,
- 30:15Speaker 1: now we just call them all edge rushers, but there's
- 30:18Speaker 1: a difference between being a 4-3 defensive end.
- 30:22Speaker 2: And Reggie White can also play defensively.
- 30:24Speaker 1: And five technique also, but being a handout defensive end
- 30:27Speaker 1: and being Lawrence Taylor outside linebacker at a time with
- 30:30Speaker 1: the position didn't even really exist in the way it
- 30:32Speaker 1: is now. But yes, Miles Garrett is a little bit
- 30:35Speaker 1: of both with not as, would he be better?
- 30:38Speaker 2: What do you think would help him more?
- 30:40Speaker 1: Some of Reggie White's Jesus or a little bit of
- 30:44Speaker 1: Lawrence Taylor's cocaine.
- 30:46Speaker 3: I'm going to go ahead and say that on the
- 30:48Speaker 3: football field. Yes. I'm always leaning towards L.T. Yeah.
- 30:54Speaker 1: I mean, so a little of the cocaine, because the
- 30:56Speaker 1: thing was Reggie White would be out there talking about
- 30:58Speaker 1: an Old Testament guy with them. Like he was telling
- 31:00Speaker 1: them that God was going to strike them down when
- 31:03Speaker 1: he was coming.
- 31:04Speaker 4: But I think, um, what is implied, obviously he don't
- 31:09Speaker 4: need to actually have the cocaine.
- 31:11Speaker 3: That's a different situation.
- 31:12Speaker 4: But at least the way you asked the question, I
- 31:15Speaker 4: was thinking like the way that he plays, he is, uh, level-headed. Like,
- 31:21Speaker 4: you never see him out there doing John Randall things.
- 31:25Speaker 4: I know he swung a helmet at somebody, but generally,
- 31:28Speaker 4: which I know it sounds ridiculous, generally, he just out
- 31:31Speaker 4: there whooping your ass and dapping you up.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Yes. Yeah.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Lawrence Taylor is a different variety of crazy person.
- 31:37Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 31:38Speaker 2: Right? Like, when you hear him talk about.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Playing, when you just, like, the NFL films clips of him, like,
- 31:46Speaker 1: he's a terrifying person as opposed to simply being a
- 31:49Speaker 1: terrifying opponent.
- 31:50Speaker 4: As I go through my mind of the best defensive
- 31:53Speaker 4: lineman or edge rushers that in the history, the, the
- 31:57Speaker 4: archetype mentally is not the Jesus guy. Like we talking
- 32:04Speaker 4: Charles Haley, we talking Lawrence Taylor, we talking John Randall.
- 32:08Speaker 3: I mean, I guess maybe Derek Thomas.
- 32:11Speaker 4: Is a little bit more like on the mellow side,
- 32:14Speaker 4: but yeah, I go with what I know.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Reggie white is just, the strongest man on like strong
- 32:23Speaker 1: in a way that you don't get from the gym.
- 32:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:26Speaker 2: The clips. Well, there's two of them. One that time.
- 32:30Speaker 1: And I'm pretty sure Brian Billick was the offensive coordinator
- 32:33Speaker 1: when this happened. And I just don't understand how he
- 32:36Speaker 1: drew up a play that involved Chris Carter being the
- 32:38Speaker 1: guy that had to block Reggie white. And all Reggie
- 32:41Speaker 1: white did was pick Chris Carter up and throw him
- 32:44Speaker 1: into Warren moon. There were three hall of famers in
- 32:47Speaker 1: this play that, One of them picked the other up
- 32:50Speaker 1: and threw him at the third. And when you hear
- 32:53Speaker 1: me say that, you're like, he.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Didn't throw Chris Carter at him. Go look it up.
- 32:58Speaker 1: He picked up a grown man and threw him into
- 33:01Speaker 1: another one like it was a bowling alley.
- 33:03Speaker 4: I remember that play. I remember it being the hump move.
- 33:06Speaker 4: I'm just going to draw it up so I can
- 33:07Speaker 4: see it. And also like before him, did anyone like,
- 33:12Speaker 4: that's a movie that Reggie White created.
- 33:15Speaker 3: Howie Long.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Howie Long is the hump move OG. However, I've never
- 33:19Speaker 1: seen the Howie Long hump move clips. I've only seen
- 33:22Speaker 1: Reggie White, including the greatest, which is on Thanksgiving Day.
- 33:26Speaker 1: He repeatedly threw Larry Allen around. It's like the hip
- 33:31Speaker 1: tossing wrestling is what the hump move is. This is
- 33:35Speaker 1: before we knew Larry Allen was Larry Allen, but we
- 33:37Speaker 1: weren't blind. We knew he weighed 350 pounds or whatever
- 33:41Speaker 1: it was.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Did you get Chris Carter being thrown?
- 33:44Speaker 3: No, no. It was worse than I remember.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:47Speaker 3: Because you're right.
- 33:48Speaker 4: I remember thinking that he was going upfield and hit
- 33:51Speaker 4: him with a hump move. Reggie White stopped his feet
- 33:54Speaker 4: because he was like, oh, Chris Carter, what you doing here?
- 33:57Speaker 3: Oh, you trying to block me? And then took one
- 34:00Speaker 3: arm and bashed him.
- 34:03Speaker 2: That's a great point. You're like, hey, what are you
- 34:04Speaker 2: doing on this side of the tag?
- 34:05Speaker 3: Yeah, he stopped like... This ain't your neighborhood. Yeah. Bastard.
- 34:12Speaker 4: But Miles Garrett has a lot of plays that are
- 34:15Speaker 4: shocking strength-wise like that also.
- 34:17Speaker 3: And then he has that thing that he.
- 34:18Speaker 4: Calls the Eurostep that he did it to Trent Williams
- 34:23Speaker 4: this weekend. I'm sure you can find that tape where
- 34:26Speaker 4: he starts outside and George Kittle, two of the best
- 34:29Speaker 4: blockers in football, George Kittle and Trent Williams, are trying
- 34:33Speaker 4: to block him. This man gives George Kittle a shake,
- 34:37Speaker 4: gets past him, and then plants off his outside foot
- 34:40Speaker 4: and throws his own body all the way to the inside.
- 34:44Speaker 4: If you haven't seen it yet, you need to find it.
- 34:47Speaker 4: And jumps all the way to the inside so much
- 34:49Speaker 4: so that Trent Williams, the most athletic big man you've
- 34:53Speaker 4: ever seen, can't get a hand on him.
- 34:56Speaker 3: It's absurd.
- 34:59Speaker 2: He plays for bums.
- 35:02Speaker 3: And then he has the strength on top of it.
- 35:05Speaker 3: He's got all the attributes except for the crazy.
- 35:09Speaker 2: And he can hoop.
- 35:10Speaker 1: He like playing with dinosaurs and shit. So it's interesting
- 35:14Speaker 1: because he doesn't have the crazy, but he had a
- 35:15Speaker 1: brother named Sean Williams who played basketball at Boston College who.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Appeared to have the crazy.
- 35:21Speaker 1: If Sean Williams had his brother's temperament and Miles Garrett
- 35:27Speaker 1: had his brother's temperament, both of them would probably be
- 35:31Speaker 1: a little bit better.
- 35:33Speaker 4: Miles Garrett, there's another series of clips. I'm going to
- 35:36Speaker 4: send them to you at some point where you can
- 35:39Speaker 4: see what he does at his size and strength. He
- 35:43Speaker 4: turns his lower body. So like he'll sell upfield with
- 35:48Speaker 4: his upper body and then he'll turn his lower body
- 35:51Speaker 4: in order to make the cut to break inside on people.
- 35:54Speaker 4: That's why his inside move is so ridiculous because the
- 35:57Speaker 4: O-linemen don't see it coming because somehow he has the flexibility.
- 36:01Speaker 3: He just... He just got it all, man.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Man, speaking of having it all, we're going to switch
- 36:06Speaker 1: entire sports. It sounds like Giannis and the Bucs are
- 36:10Speaker 1: talking again about whether or not it's best for him
- 36:14Speaker 1: to play for them, it's best for them to play
- 36:16Speaker 1: with him, so forth and so on.
- 36:19Speaker 2: They don't really know what to do. I've said it. Oh, okay.
- 36:23Speaker 1: It's worth noting that the last time I looked at
- 36:25Speaker 1: the numbers, they were like fourth in the East, and
- 36:28Speaker 1: now they are 10 and 13. They have lost eight
- 36:31Speaker 1: of their last 10 games. That's why they're having.
- 36:33Speaker 2: These conversations again. My bad. Like stay or go.
- 36:40Speaker 1: I just, I just don't know if it doesn't feel
- 36:42Speaker 1: that easy anymore. The trade me to a contender. The
- 36:45Speaker 1: word contender is a little more vague and trades are
- 36:48Speaker 1: a little harder.
- 36:49Speaker 3: Didn't he like grab something last night? Yeah.
- 36:51Speaker 2: A calf.
- 36:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:53Speaker 2: Hold on, hold on, hold on. In a way.
- 36:55Speaker 1: That if it wasn't Giannis, we would raise the question
- 37:00Speaker 1: of shenanigans.
- 37:01Speaker 4: Remember when he hyperextended his knee?
- 37:04Speaker 3: Yes. And we thought it was over? That he scored 60?
- 37:08Speaker 2: Like, what a championship, as I recall. I believe that
- 37:11Speaker 2: might have all been the same season.
- 37:12Speaker 1: But no, after all these reports come out, and then
- 37:15Speaker 1: he hits the ground and say, my foot hurt.
- 37:17Speaker 2: For many other NBA players, we'd be like, yeah, your
- 37:20Speaker 2: foot hurts. In his case.
- 37:21Speaker 7: i believe that he is actually hurt which by the
- 37:24Speaker 7: way y'all can talk all you want if he got
- 37:27Speaker 7: a calf injury i'm gonna need to see them mris
- 37:30Speaker 7: and everything else like y'all gonna need to hit the
- 37:32Speaker 7: zoom lens as tight as you can before you send
- 37:35Speaker 7: them over we start talking about a trade.
- 37:37Speaker 4: For sure yeah now that that i mean the way
- 37:40Speaker 4: it happened was kind of scary it was one of
- 37:42Speaker 4: those like It wasn't even in course of play. He
- 37:44Speaker 4: just made a great play, great pass. And then he just,
- 37:47Speaker 4: it gets a little scary. I get your point. My
- 37:49Speaker 4: first thing when I saw that news this morning was
- 37:51Speaker 4: to think that there was shenanigans. Then I watched it
- 37:54Speaker 4: and I got real nervous and was like, I hope
- 37:56Speaker 4: the MRI is all right. That is, I mean, normally
- 37:59Speaker 4: you just, you heard it in practice if it's shenanigans.
- 38:02Speaker 4: you ask it a lot of yourself as a performer.
- 38:05Speaker 4: It's unnecessary. And I mean, in this day and age,
- 38:07Speaker 4: you only got to hurt yourself. You just tell like
- 38:09Speaker 4: an NBA, tell them I ain't playing.
- 38:11Speaker 1: Well, also, also you can't do it like that in, in,
- 38:14Speaker 1: on the court, in the NBA, no more in these
- 38:17Speaker 1: days and times. Cause quite honestly, they might, you might
- 38:19Speaker 1: be under FBI investigation.
- 38:21Speaker 3: I forgot about that.
- 38:23Speaker 2: They about to go check the lines.
- 38:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:26Speaker 4: I believe y'all, this is, y'all, this is a believable guy.
- 38:29Speaker 4: He even did, uh, The modern-day nonsense, which I guess
- 38:33Speaker 4: isn't nonsense.
- 38:33Speaker 3: It's a thing now.
- 38:34Speaker 4: It's the first step in the process is changing social media.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Oh, he did that?
- 38:39Speaker 3: Whose job is that? Do you hire a company to
- 38:41Speaker 3: do that?
- 38:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:42Speaker 3: All right. I can't imagine that Giannis is scrolling through
- 38:45Speaker 3: deleting stuff.
- 38:46Speaker 2: Yeah, no, no, no, no, no.
- 38:48Speaker 8: You get somebody to do that. We'll talk about that
- 38:51Speaker 8: a little bit more. But, yeah, you get somebody else
- 38:53Speaker 8: to go through and make those moves. There are companies
- 38:56Speaker 8: who do this, or whoever it is that you trust
- 38:58Speaker 8: with the passwords to put all the inane stuff nonsensical
- 39:01Speaker 8: posts that you put up to make the people feel
- 39:04Speaker 8: like you engage with them.
- 39:05Speaker 3: Right.
- 39:06Speaker 1: But he's he got a lot of that can't go
- 39:07Speaker 1: back in him. And so that's why I don't think
- 39:12Speaker 1: he would do that.
- 39:12Speaker 2: Like, I think he always afraid he's going to get deported.
- 39:15Speaker 4: And like the move into a contender thing is, I
- 39:18Speaker 4: guess this season kind of disproves that. But like, don't
- 39:23Speaker 4: you automatically become a contender when Giannis shows up?
- 39:28Speaker 2: Yes, kinda.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Of, but it appears that you need to have a
- 39:34Speaker 1: deep bag of players rather than one with a really
- 39:39Speaker 1: heavy thing in it.
- 39:40Speaker 2: First of all, everybody playing.
- 39:43Speaker 3: For a second. They lost one game.
- 39:48Speaker 2: Everybody.
- 39:49Speaker 1: And the craziest part is everybody's playing for second. And
- 39:53Speaker 1: you know what team is actually in a position to
- 39:55Speaker 1: add Giannis without having to give up that much relative
- 39:58Speaker 1: to what they have them.
- 40:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:00Speaker 2: They're the ones who could do that.
- 40:02Speaker 1: They could make a decision if they wanted to, to
- 40:04Speaker 1: just be like, nah, we'd rather our run be like
- 40:07Speaker 1: seven years instead of 12. So how about we give you,
- 40:10Speaker 1: I don't know, Jalen Williams, huh? We give you Jalen
- 40:13Speaker 1: Williams and maybe a number one pick. Like they, like
- 40:17Speaker 1: they could make the trade and then be like, nothing
- 40:19Speaker 1: here is different than it was before.
- 40:21Speaker 3: My gosh.
- 40:22Speaker 4: Could you imagine if that he started playing the role
- 40:26Speaker 4: that we expect Chet to play? And it's like, and
- 40:28Speaker 4: they got having both on the court at the same time.
- 40:30Speaker 1: Like, Well, what if they call Milwaukee and it's like, well,
- 40:33Speaker 1: y'all can have Chet. Houston had always been the team
- 40:37Speaker 1: that I had looked at. And, you know, the Houston
- 40:39Speaker 1: thing is we will not trade our man Thompson, and
- 40:41Speaker 1: I think that's ridiculous. As good as I think that
- 40:44Speaker 1: he could possibly be, I had him, Shingun, all of
- 40:47Speaker 1: y'all can go if we get in yards.
- 40:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, that's positioning. I mean, come on. Y'all
- 40:56Speaker 3: are crazy.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Yeah, like, I mean, look....
- 41:01Speaker 1: To get Paul George, the Clippers had to give up
- 41:05Speaker 1: now the second best player in the NBA.
- 41:07Speaker 2: And look, none of us thought the shape was going
- 41:08Speaker 2: to be this good.
- 41:09Speaker 1: But that was the one Presti's like, I ain't leaving
- 41:13Speaker 1: without that one.
- 41:15Speaker 3: Sorry for the detour. Do you have TikTok?
- 41:18Speaker 2: If you send me something, I can look at it.
- 41:20Speaker 3: Okay. I mean, it's just a little.
- 41:23Speaker 4: You didn't make the face that I was expecting when
- 41:25Speaker 4: I told you about the Miles Garrett move so I
- 41:27Speaker 4: assumed that maybe which is reasonable you didn't see it
- 41:29Speaker 4: give me a look you weren't watching this nonsense the
- 41:34Speaker 4: 49ers game.
- 41:35Speaker 1: No I tried I did but yeah I am now
- 41:39Speaker 1: very curious to see what it is okay and the
- 41:41Speaker 1: answer to your question am I on TikTok no but
- 41:44Speaker 1: if on your laptop you could watch it on oh
- 41:46Speaker 1: my god.
- 41:48Speaker 3: How did what This motherfucker teleporting.
- 41:52Speaker 1: Yo, that is, I've never seen any player make, like
- 41:57Speaker 1: that's Barry Sanders.
- 41:59Speaker 4: This 6'5, 300 pound, muscle bound man out here teleporting.
- 42:06Speaker 1: I've never seen anybody on a football field make a
- 42:10Speaker 1: jump cut.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Like this is Marshall Falk caliber jump cut.
- 42:16Speaker 3: That man jumping 10-yard jump.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Yo, that's the kind of thing that makes a man
- 42:20Speaker 1: Trent Williams age retire.
- 42:24Speaker 2: Right?
- 42:24Speaker 1: Like, yo, I guess I ain't got it no more.
- 42:25Speaker 1: Except then you go back and watch it on film
- 42:27Speaker 1: and you're like, oh, couldn't nobody else do that either.
- 42:30Speaker 1: In fact, why doesn't he just do that every time?
- 42:34Speaker 4: Because he could just go through you or go around you.
- 42:36Speaker 4: That's the thing is the man got one of the
- 42:38Speaker 4: best speed rushes and can drop that shoulder and get
- 42:41Speaker 4: around the edge. He got it all, man. And his
- 42:43Speaker 4: defense is always really good, in large part because he
- 42:46Speaker 4: always out there.
- 42:49Speaker 2: And yet they, as a collective, stink. Mm-hmm.
- 42:56Speaker 3: He just driving people back to his power move is stupid. Ugh.
- 43:00Speaker 2: I can't stop watching this.
- 43:03Speaker 4: That's why you could tell. I've been distracted. We did
- 43:06Speaker 4: the Giannis conversation. We can get back to it. But
- 43:09Speaker 4: I've been distracted the whole time because I was like,
- 43:12Speaker 4: Bomani really ain't react the way that I expected.
- 43:15Speaker 2: No, no, no. I didn't.
- 43:20Speaker 1: And after you said that and I put it on,
- 43:22Speaker 1: I was like, well, maybe... I'll need to watch it
- 43:25Speaker 1: a second time to fully understand.
- 43:27Speaker 2: No, no, no. Now that I'm watching it for the
- 43:30Speaker 2: 12th time.
- 43:32Speaker 1: And by the way, number 68 on the other side
- 43:34Speaker 1: was over there getting worked by the other defensive end.
- 43:37Speaker 1: This was going to be a sack even if he
- 43:40Speaker 1: didn't get it done. He made that move and somebody
- 43:45Speaker 1: actually pushed Purdy into it, which had to make it
- 43:48Speaker 1: worse for Purdy.
- 43:49Speaker 4: Purdy had to be like, hey, what are you doing here?
- 43:52Speaker 4: You're supposed to be outside. I'm into Miles Garrett rabbit hole.
- 43:56Speaker 4: Do you remember when he was dribbling a basketball on
- 43:59Speaker 4: the field? Like fake dribbling a basketball over the center
- 44:02Speaker 4: for the Bengals?
- 44:03Speaker 1: Right before the snap. He was doing like the low crosses.
- 44:07Speaker 1: And then went for the rush. Yo, I just realized
- 44:10Speaker 1: what he did here. He did a stunt by himself.
- 44:14Speaker 3: He was the outside and the inside.
- 44:16Speaker 2: He was the one-man stunt. How is this possible?
- 44:22Speaker 3: Oh, gosh. Oh, gosh.
- 44:24Speaker 1: Okay, sorry for those of you who are not watching.
- 44:26Speaker 1: I imagine that Ryan can put this in what they
- 44:28Speaker 1: call a show notes.
- 44:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:31Speaker 2: Or something like that.
- 44:32Speaker 1: But you need to see what it is that I
- 44:37Speaker 1: just saw.
- 44:39Speaker 3: Yeah, and there's so many of them. There's so many
- 44:41Speaker 3: of them.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Hey, hey.
- 44:43Speaker 4: That was against Tripp Williams. I'm looking at other stuff
- 44:45Speaker 4: against guys who ain't Tripp Williams.
- 44:46Speaker 2: Guys that aren't going to the Hall of Fame.
- 44:49Speaker 3: That aren't a one-man offense.
- 44:51Speaker 4: You show up, your offense get 10 points better immediately
- 44:54Speaker 4: when Tripp Williams shows up.
- 44:58Speaker 1: It mattered not. Nothing that he had mattered. Right fast
- 45:02Speaker 1: before we get out of here. It feels like either
- 45:05Speaker 1: the Chiefs or the Texans It feels like one of
- 45:08Speaker 1: their seasons is going to end this week, but it
- 45:10Speaker 1: feels a little dramatic to say.
- 45:11Speaker 2: But I feel like if it's the Chiefs, it's over.
- 45:13Speaker 2: Is that fair?
- 45:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree.
- 45:14Speaker 4: I mean, the Chiefs have had a number of big
- 45:16Speaker 4: games already in this season, and I feel like they've
- 45:19Speaker 4: lost them all, which may be.
- 45:21Speaker 2: Well, they beat Indianapolis, right?
- 45:23Speaker 3: Yeah, they did beat Indianapolis. That was a big game win.
- 45:25Speaker 3: You're right.
- 45:27Speaker 4: But this one, so maybe I was going to say
- 45:29Speaker 4: that maybe my best faith for the Chiefs is that
- 45:32Speaker 4: they do, but maybe they not do because they got
- 45:34Speaker 4: one big game win. But, I mean, I don't. I
- 45:37Speaker 4: don't feel confident for the Chiefs. Of course, Patrick Mahomes,
- 45:39Speaker 4: we all respect him and we know it's possible. But
- 45:42Speaker 4: the O-line injuries combined with, I don't care if your
- 45:44Speaker 4: O-line is injured or not, that Texas defensive front is insane.
- 45:49Speaker 4: And there are really no holes out there because it's
- 45:52Speaker 4: like we don't have to blitz. We also don't have
- 45:55Speaker 4: to sit back in coverage because we got cover guys.
- 45:57Speaker 4: Like they could blitz if they wanted to, but they
- 45:59Speaker 4: don't need to. And they could sit back and like
- 46:01Speaker 4: double team everybody if they wanted to, but they don't
- 46:03Speaker 4: need to because both of their corners are pretty good.
- 46:06Speaker 4: You could attack the linebackers, I guess, in pass coverage,
- 46:09Speaker 4: but that ain't a long– now you're going to have
- 46:12Speaker 4: to dink and dunk it all the way down the field,
- 46:14Speaker 4: which I don't know. I don't feel great about this.
- 46:16Speaker 4: Of course, it's Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, all that stuff.
- 46:19Speaker 4: I have respect that they could get it done. But
- 46:21Speaker 4: the question is, will the Texans' offense be able to
- 46:24Speaker 4: score enough points? Because I don't think that the Chiefs'
- 46:28Speaker 4: offense is going to have much for this Texas defense.
- 46:31Speaker 2: But if the Chiefs win this, it is totally possible
- 46:33Speaker 2: that they.
- 46:33Speaker 3: Could win out.
- 46:34Speaker 1: And if they get in the playoffs, then I mean,
- 46:36Speaker 1: I mean, it's on the board. The big thing is
- 46:37Speaker 1: they need to catch the Chargers. Chargers are two games
- 46:39Speaker 1: up on them. I don't know what the tiebreaker is
- 46:42Speaker 1: if the Chiefs split because the Chiefs lost the first
- 46:44Speaker 1: game of the year of the Chargers.
- 46:45Speaker 2: So I don't know exactly how it plays out.
- 46:47Speaker 1: And I hope that Buffalo starts falling off, you know,
- 46:50Speaker 1: which is, you know, which is 100 percent on the board.
- 46:53Speaker 4: Buffalo got the Bengals this weekend, so they might beat them.
- 46:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I also want to say this about the Texans.
- 46:59Speaker 1: And I've said this, people have been reluctant to get
- 47:03Speaker 1: back hip with this, but.
- 47:03Speaker 2: We got to be real.
- 47:05Speaker 1: The Will Anderson trade worked out.
- 47:08Speaker 2: Right, because it looked ridiculous.
- 47:10Speaker 1: At the time because we thought they were going to
- 47:11Speaker 1: be back in the top five the next year.
- 47:13Speaker 2: No, they weren't, right?
- 47:15Speaker 1: It turned out to be a mid to late first
- 47:17Speaker 1: round pick that they sent to Arizona in order to
- 47:19Speaker 1: get Will Anderson.
- 47:20Speaker 2: So they got C.J.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Stroud and Will Anderson in the same year. They got
- 47:24Speaker 1: the two things you want to build around right there.
- 47:27Speaker 4: And they got a great coach, and we just thought
- 47:28Speaker 4: that it was going to be smooth sailing for them.
- 47:31Speaker 4: For some reason, they refused to address the offensive line issues.
- 47:35Speaker 4: And their quarterback keeps getting hurt. And their receivers, they
- 47:38Speaker 4: losing receivers.
- 47:40Speaker 3: It's rough. But this team was like expected.
- 47:43Speaker 4: Will you remember when they both brought in both those
- 47:46Speaker 4: rookies and they were great off the bat?
- 47:48Speaker 3: And we're like, all right. Long runway.
- 47:50Speaker 4: They're getting towards the time where it's time to start
- 47:52Speaker 4: signing them people.
- 47:53Speaker 3: And the runway gets a little bit more precarious.
- 47:55Speaker 2: Yeah, but they're another one, though. They have a winning
- 47:59Speaker 2: out is on the board.
- 48:00Speaker 1: Chiefs, Cardinals, Raiders, Chargers and the not as good as
- 48:04Speaker 1: they used to be Colts.
- 48:06Speaker 4: Yeah, that's I mean, is this do you find this
- 48:08Speaker 4: year like more fun or less fun? I guess it's
- 48:12Speaker 4: not a fair question, but.
- 48:14Speaker 2: It's a great question.
- 48:16Speaker 3: I don't.
- 48:17Speaker 2: I like there to be a great team.
- 48:19Speaker 3: Yeah. Me too.
- 48:20Speaker 2: And that, and that ain't here. Yeah.
- 48:22Speaker 1: I mean, unless you think the 11 and two Patriots
- 48:25Speaker 1: are great and I've just can't, I can't get myself
- 48:28Speaker 1: there yet.
- 48:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:29Speaker 4: I mean, the 11 and two Patriots have some issues.
- 48:32Speaker 4: And of course they, the funny thing about that is they, they,
- 48:35Speaker 4: their schedule hasn't been super tough, but then you look
- 48:38Speaker 4: around and like, ain't nobody out here.
- 48:39Speaker 3: That's really that good. Yeah.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:42Speaker 4: It just, it feels like we are in a little
- 48:44Speaker 4: bit of a transition stage, but yeah.
- 48:47Speaker 2: I love it.
- 48:48Speaker 1: But it also looks like all the good quarterbacks are
- 48:50Speaker 1: not going to make the playoffs. Like that's the part
- 48:53Speaker 1: that I don't know how.
- 48:55Speaker 2: Anybody actually feels about that.
- 48:58Speaker 1: Like if we look at who makes the playoffs right now,
- 49:00Speaker 1: let me pull this up. So it gives me, uh
- 49:04Speaker 1: just who's gonna be in the playoffs right now okay
- 49:06Speaker 1: so the playoffs from the afc if they started today
- 49:09Speaker 1: drake may who is good but like not the guys
- 49:12Speaker 1: we're used to i guess it's a better way yeah
- 49:14Speaker 1: drake may bo nicks trevor lawrence i guess oh lamar
- 49:18Speaker 1: jackson i've heard of him Justin Herbert.
- 49:21Speaker 3: He ain't playing well, though.
- 49:21Speaker 2: Right, he's not playing well. He's not healthy right now either.
- 49:24Speaker 2: And then Daniel Jones.
- 49:26Speaker 1: In the NFC, we are looking at Caleb Williams, Matthew Stafford,
- 49:30Speaker 1: who gave you a Matthew, one of the other kinds
- 49:33Speaker 1: of Matthew Stafford games last week. Jalen Hurts, Baker Mayfield,
- 49:38Speaker 1: Sam Darnold.
- 49:39Speaker 2: Don't believe it. And Jordan Love.
- 49:45Speaker 1: This isn't, you know, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, like the guy,
- 49:50Speaker 1: Joe Burrow.
- 49:51Speaker 2: Like the guys, they're not there.
- 49:54Speaker 3: Matt Prescott.
- 49:55Speaker 2: Right.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Who is playing lights out football guys. Like there will
- 49:59Speaker 1: be a football game played between this recording and and
- 50:02Speaker 1: uh you hearing this so it's possible that statement could
- 50:05Speaker 1: be laughable nah.
- 50:07Speaker 4: Nah it's not possible he's gonna play a game a
- 50:10Speaker 4: game in the dark because he's continuing he will continue
- 50:13Speaker 4: to play lights out football y'all can you can laugh
- 50:16Speaker 4: at me if you want to but i think i
- 50:18Speaker 4: feel pretty safe especially seeing what jordan love did to
- 50:21Speaker 4: that defense last week i don't want to talk about
- 50:24Speaker 4: it oh yeah i'm sorry i forgot oh man.
- 50:27Speaker 1: Look man here's the thing and this is the They're
- 50:29Speaker 1: hurt up and down again, and this happens with the
- 50:31Speaker 1: 49ers too, the most physical team in the league. The
- 50:35Speaker 1: physics of it is such that you're going to take
- 50:38Speaker 1: some of those blows too. I still think this has
- 50:40Speaker 1: been a good team. The weakness we saw in week
- 50:43Speaker 1: one is the one that got them. The interior offensive
- 50:46Speaker 1: line has been a big problem. They're down on defense
- 50:48Speaker 1: like guys, so that's its own thing. But what do
- 50:52Speaker 1: you make of this? For people who don't know this story,
- 50:53Speaker 1: Frank Ragnow played center for the Lions for many, many years.
- 50:56Speaker 2: He retired recently. after last season, he wanted to come
- 51:00Speaker 2: back this season. The Lions signed him.
- 51:02Speaker 1: They gave him a physical and he failed the physical,
- 51:05Speaker 1: not because it was like something wrong with his kidney
- 51:08Speaker 1: or something deep down in there. He had a grade
- 51:10Speaker 1: three hamstring strain and was trying to come play football.
- 51:15Speaker 2: Does he love the Lions that much?
- 51:17Speaker 3: I have so many questions.
- 51:18Speaker 2: What was he doing, by the way, as a non-football player?
- 51:23Speaker 4: Like, how do you get that level of, Maybe he's
- 51:28Speaker 4: still training, but also like I've never, like I've pulled
- 51:32Speaker 4: a quad before, but I've never.
- 51:33Speaker 3: Like had any hamstring issues, but like it hurts.
- 51:41Speaker 6: Grade three grade three mean his white leg was black
- 51:47Speaker 6: in that spot and his muscle was not functioning without
- 51:51Speaker 6: pain but he offensive lineman i i have no idea
- 51:55Speaker 6: what he thought when he showed up and knocked on
- 51:57Speaker 6: their door and was like hey ready to play.
- 52:00Speaker 1: What he thought was wrong imagine the look on their
- 52:05Speaker 1: faces when they took that.
- 52:06Speaker 2: Mri and they held that bitch up to the light
- 52:09Speaker 2: and they were like look come come look come come
- 52:14Speaker 2: look at this is this you see what i see right.
- 52:17Speaker 4: When he limped up to that to the facility and
- 52:20Speaker 4: knocked on the door what were all that what were
- 52:24Speaker 4: they thinking oh you just it's early in the morning
- 52:26Speaker 4: you still gotta warm up get some blood down i
- 52:28Speaker 4: feel you creaky it's creaky i feel you god i
- 52:32Speaker 4: don't get it at all and so that they just
- 52:33Speaker 4: like all right hi bye now see ya but.
- 52:37Speaker 1: The fact that the lions entertained this at all tells
- 52:40Speaker 1: you everything that you needed to know about where they stood.
- 52:43Speaker 4: I assume they called him i assume they called him
- 52:46Speaker 4: right it's like they were having issues they probably called
- 52:48Speaker 4: his agent like hey what'd you think and he was
- 52:51Speaker 4: like yeah cool i mean my hammy hurt a little
- 52:53Speaker 4: bit but it's no big deal i.
- 52:55Speaker 1: Mean but who else did they call did they call
- 52:57Speaker 1: bruce matthews did they call john hannah Like, who else
- 53:03Speaker 1: got a ring?
- 53:03Speaker 3: Kevin Glover.
- 53:04Speaker 2: That's what I said. Lopez Brown.
- 53:07Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 53:07Speaker 2: Did you give these other guys a ring? I just
- 53:10Speaker 2: got the grade three.
- 53:11Speaker 1: And I saw, without knowing the context, like NFL players
- 53:15Speaker 1: on Twitter being like, brother, grade three?
- 53:18Speaker 2: I'm like, what do you mean? What are you talking about?
- 53:19Speaker 4: And then it was like, I don't know the grading system,
- 53:23Speaker 4: but I don't think I've ever heard grade three. Most
- 53:27Speaker 4: times you got strain or tear.
- 53:29Speaker 2: Because once it comes to grade three, the details don't matter.
- 53:32Speaker 4: We never got there because normally like a strain is
- 53:35Speaker 4: a tear or it's like a small tear. So that's what,
- 53:38Speaker 4: that's like, I'm assuming like grade one. And then they
- 53:41Speaker 4: say it's a tear. I'm like, oh, that's bad. That's
- 53:43Speaker 4: grade two probably.
- 53:44Speaker 3: I didn't know that you could do more than that.
- 53:47Speaker 2: That's like a category five hurricane. Yeah. I've heard of it,
- 53:52Speaker 2: but you didn't even need to tell me that. Just
- 53:53Speaker 2: tell me to leave.
- 53:56Speaker 3: Go home now. That's it. Don't need to go home.
- 54:01Speaker 1: But that is Dominique Foxworth. Check him out on the
