- 2:07Speaker 2: thing you do helps us to reach that goal. Thank
- 2:11Speaker 2: you an advance appreci All right, you want to just
- 2:16Speaker 2: dive right into it. It's kind of a boring episode.
- 2:20Speaker 2: There's a lot of different discombobulated elements that I was
- 2:23Speaker 2: kind of confused about also too slightly okay, deeply bored about.
- 2:28Speaker 2: But there were one or two items, yeah, that I
- 2:31Speaker 2: want to get into with you. So starting with again,
- 2:35Speaker 2: season six, episode eight.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Entitled A Wife Decides huh ooh, I wonder who that's about.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Well, it's about Mary and Cody talking about a baby.
- 2:46Speaker 2: But as it turns out.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Cody decides Cody, Cody's the wife. Cody's the wife. What
- 2:53Speaker 1: a shock like?
- 2:53Speaker 2: This entire time he's been chasing Mary for an answer
- 2:58Speaker 2: to the eternal question do you want to have another baby?
- 3:01Speaker 2: And she's been putting him off and putting him off. Well,
- 3:04Speaker 2: this episode he comes with his own opinion.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Yes, and where we get to yes, I have thoughts
- 3:12Speaker 1: me too.
- 3:13Speaker 2: All right, so start us upbeat.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Well, we start off with it's three weeks since everybody's
- 3:18Speaker 1: moved intto their homes, and everybody seems happy. Seems Yeah,
- 3:24Speaker 1: all the kids are playing around with each other, they're
- 3:26Speaker 1: all happy to be together. You have teenagers playing video
- 3:29Speaker 1: games and Mary's loved. You have kids building forts and
- 3:33Speaker 1: shit out and Christine's very sad.
- 3:37Speaker 2: There's not one stitch, not one lick, not one piece
- 3:41Speaker 2: of vegetation, no, not one blade of grass, just dirt,
- 3:43Speaker 2: not one plant, not one succulent, not one, not a cactus, nothing.
- 3:47Speaker 1: They nothing there, just gravel. No, they just did the
- 3:49Speaker 1: front landscaping, but nothing in the bag.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Yeah, Like, okay, that's actually pretty emblematic of who they are,
- 3:55Speaker 2: Like forward facing with this great family, But don't look
- 3:57Speaker 2: in the back over there insane, nothing there, no vacant,
- 4:01Speaker 2: devoid of humanity.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Yeah, demonic. Well, except the backyard seems like it's got
- 4:07Speaker 1: some life because the kids are building forts and stuff
- 4:09Speaker 1: and get down and that's really cute.
- 4:11Speaker 2: It is cute and I love that me too, and
- 4:13Speaker 2: so there are aspects of it that are quite idyllic.
- 4:16Speaker 2: And I love that the kids are finally back together. Yeah,
- 4:21Speaker 2: but I'm wondering how back together the wives are. Yeah,
- 4:25Speaker 2: because Cody tells us on the couch or in a
- 4:27Speaker 2: talking head that it's been really awesome to have everybody
- 4:31Speaker 2: in the cul de sac, and it we're getting that
- 4:33Speaker 2: old vibe back, like we've got proximity.
- 4:35Speaker 1: It's great.
- 4:35Speaker 2: But the wives have gotten used to being on their own,
- 4:40Speaker 2: and so it's about like navigating their independence while also
- 4:44Speaker 2: being so grateful though that we're together. And like the
- 4:47Speaker 2: subtext there was hitting with me. I'm like, hmm, is
- 4:51Speaker 2: there a problem? Oh yeah, what do you think that
- 4:53Speaker 2: problem might be?
- 4:54Speaker 1: There's totally a problem they are seeing that Cody still
- 4:58Speaker 1: prefers Robin. I feel they're noticing it now. I don't know.
- 5:02Speaker 1: It just felt really weird. I think Cody talked about
- 5:06Speaker 1: like how it's a challenge to bring the family back together,
- 5:09Speaker 1: but it's a blessing. But he looked dead inside when
- 5:12Speaker 1: he was saying yeah, because he's the one that has
- 5:14Speaker 1: to kind of bring everybody back together, right. But I
- 5:20Speaker 1: don't know.
- 5:20Speaker 2: I think previous to this, when they were in the rentals,
- 5:24Speaker 2: the women were able to kind of delude themselves into
- 5:26Speaker 2: just believing that Cody was spreading out his time equally
- 5:30Speaker 2: among the wives, but they didn't see it. Yeah, it
- 5:33Speaker 2: wasn't right in front of them. It's not like Lee
- 5:34Speaker 2: High when he knows he's leaving my basement and he's
- 5:37Speaker 2: going over Janelle's side, Like they know where he is
- 5:39Speaker 2: in the house. Now they're back in a cul de sac,
- 5:42Speaker 2: and so they're gonna know where he is in the
- 5:44Speaker 2: cul de sac, and if he has already started to
- 5:47Speaker 2: favor and prefer Robin, they're going to be.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Looking out that window hunting, uh huh.
- 5:52Speaker 2: And they're going to see him doing that. And that's
- 5:53Speaker 2: what I'm to agreed, disconnect. But I also think my
- 5:57Speaker 2: vibe was that Robin and is starting to get a
- 6:01Speaker 2: little territorial again. This is the first time she's ever
- 6:04Speaker 2: owned a house baby, and so she's got her own
- 6:08Speaker 2: rules around that. I'm wondering if now is the time
- 6:11Speaker 2: that we're gonna start policing the refrigerator. Kids can't just
- 6:15Speaker 2: walk up in my house and take all my food,
- 6:18Speaker 2: even though I'm your mom. I promise I'm your mom, right,
- 6:21Speaker 2: and I'll see you better knock though before you come
- 6:23Speaker 2: into this hazard be or take off your shoes, and
- 6:25Speaker 2: don't bring your dirty grub of feet into my house.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I own this, It belongs to me.
- 6:29Speaker 2: I mean, I might be extrapolating a little bit a
- 6:31Speaker 2: little much out of it, but that was what I
- 6:33Speaker 2: was getting, and that's what I think Cody's trying to
- 6:35Speaker 2: navigate a little bit.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I mean, I could kind of see it because if
- 6:38Speaker 1: you notice, we only had footage of the kids being
- 6:40Speaker 1: at all the other three houses, not at Robin's.
- 6:43Speaker 2: No, well, Logan was at Robin's helping to load up
- 6:46Speaker 2: her refrigerator. So she has Logan carrying in the groceries.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Yeah, be my servant, yeah Logan, Yes, that's all she
- 6:54Speaker 1: wants them for. Well.
- 6:55Speaker 2: I also think, and this is gonna be terrible, my god,
- 6:58Speaker 2: but I feel like because Logan's in college and she's
- 7:01Speaker 2: in her early thirties. I just wonder whether she looks
- 7:05Speaker 2: at his muscles a little bit and that, Yeah, I
- 7:09Speaker 2: think I wonder if she thinks maybe, I don't know, stop, well,
- 7:12Speaker 2: she's devoid of all morals, why not. I just wonder
- 7:16Speaker 2: if she's crushing She's always like sitting next to Logan
- 7:19Speaker 2: during the family meetings, And I'm just wondering if maybe
- 7:23Speaker 2: deep down there's a little something there with.
- 7:25Speaker 1: With Rabbit, a little lightning bolt down there.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Baby lightning, a baby Mormon lightning. Got her breakdancing in
- 7:33Speaker 2: the middle of the nighthood. Stop thinking about Logan over
- 7:36Speaker 2: there at the.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Breakdancing on Cody. Oh, in the middle of the We're
- 7:41Speaker 1: getting so inappropriate. What we warned you. But does anybody
- 7:44Speaker 1: else have that vibe?
- 7:45Speaker 2: I kind of have that vibe the way that she
- 7:47Speaker 2: looks at Logan sometimes, always sits right next to him,
- 7:51Speaker 2: has him with his little tank top and big old
- 7:53Speaker 2: muscles carrying it.
- 7:55Speaker 1: But I don't think so.
- 7:56Speaker 2: I bet there's a lot of raccoons out there who
- 7:58Speaker 2: is sniffing that out too.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Even pick up on that. So now I'm gonna have
- 8:01Speaker 1: to watch you gotta watch with my monocle got to
- 8:04Speaker 1: watch and see that. That's disgusting. Yeah, but I could
- 8:07Speaker 1: see it.
- 8:08Speaker 2: But already there's maybe a little bit of trouble or
- 8:11Speaker 2: turbulence in paradise.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Totally already three weeks in problems. Yeah, because like you
- 8:17Speaker 1: had said, they're all forward facing. Look at the appearance
- 8:20Speaker 1: on the outside, we're totally fine. But deep down, that
- 8:23Speaker 1: backyard's ugly. That backyard's messy, yep, and they're shit hidden there.
- 8:29Speaker 1: And then we have Cody meeting with new manufacturers from
- 8:32Speaker 1: My Sister Wives Closet.
- 8:35Speaker 2: I thought it was the same lady as before who
- 8:38Speaker 2: had a business with her divorced husband, but like I don't,
- 8:42Speaker 2: I can't keep up, and I don't care.
- 8:44Speaker 1: I don't either. So yeah, but he's meeting with them
- 8:46Speaker 1: because he's going to be designing very special jewelry pieces
- 8:50Speaker 1: for his wives that he also plans to sell on
- 8:54Speaker 1: the My Sister Wives Closet website.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Yes, this whole scene is a form of dumb marketing
- 9:00Speaker 2: that he's trying to roll out for the viewing audience.
- 9:04Speaker 1: And so he takes this.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Into his Sacred Sketch Book, where he has made four
- 9:08Speaker 2: different sketches based on his ideas for his wives and
- 9:12Speaker 2: what he feels about them.
- 9:13Speaker 1: It's just like Robin. Yeah, them drawing in the little sketchbook. Yeah,
- 9:17Speaker 1: I gotta go to Starbus.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I gotta get my sketchbook because I'm getting inspired by God.
- 9:21Speaker 2: I need to get my latte and to let it out.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I need to channel it. And these are so bad.
- 9:26Speaker 1: These are the ugliest designs I've ever seen it in
- 9:28Speaker 1: my entire life, the ugliest necklaces. You should put the
- 9:32Speaker 1: photos in here, okay, people to see. But we start
- 9:35Speaker 1: with Robin and Cody's brand idea isn't that she's a bird,
- 9:40Speaker 1: specifically a phoenix rising because that's what Robin called herself
- 9:45Speaker 1: after her divorce. She rose from the ashes of divorce
- 9:49Speaker 1: into this beautiful phoenix.
- 9:52Speaker 2: That's what he's designing for Robin, right, And it's really
- 9:55Speaker 2: ugly with this chicken head at the top of a
- 9:59Speaker 2: heart on fire. But then you look at the picture
- 10:01Speaker 2: and I'm like, what's going on? These flames are absolutely terrible.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Who out there is watching this and buying this particular
- 10:09Speaker 2: piece of jewelry, I do not understand.
- 10:12Speaker 1: And I wonder how much they're selling this for at
- 10:14Speaker 1: this time because if they're selling it for their regular
- 10:17Speaker 1: prices of like one hundred, one hundred and fifty two
- 10:19Speaker 1: hundred dollars a pop. Like absolutely, no, no way, no,
- 10:23Speaker 1: no way. And then we get to Mary's necklace girl.
- 10:29Speaker 2: So Cody is starting to talk about his concepts about it,
- 10:34Speaker 2: and he's really just tapping into.
- 10:36Speaker 1: The energy of Mary.
- 10:38Speaker 2: And the closest approximation to describe Mary is a dog.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Yeah, to represent loyalty, loyal like a dog.
- 10:49Speaker 2: I actually think he came into this design meeting thinking
- 10:52Speaker 2: like he could maybe design a golden retriever with like
- 10:56Speaker 2: the word Mary underneath it, the head of a golden
- 10:58Speaker 2: retriever and it'd be perfect. Well, these manufacturers are.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Like, Cody, you can't fucking do that.
- 11:04Speaker 2: You can't design a piece for your wife that represents
- 11:08Speaker 2: her and have it be a dog, Like no woman
- 11:10Speaker 2: wants to receive that.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Are you this dumb?
- 11:12Speaker 2: Do we really need to sit here on camera and
- 11:15Speaker 2: tell you this?
- 11:16Speaker 1: Yes, the answer is yes. And so he settles on
- 11:18Speaker 1: a heart with a crown on top of it, and
- 11:21Speaker 1: then the word fidelis over it like one of those
- 11:25Speaker 1: like cringey like sailor mom tattoos.
- 11:28Speaker 2: You know, it actually was kind of masculine to me
- 11:32Speaker 2: a little bit. I kind of like in Fidelis to semperify.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 11:35Speaker 2: I just just makes me think of kind of a
- 11:38Speaker 2: masculine design. Yeah, maybe that's how he views her. I
- 11:42Speaker 2: don't know, but I, oh god, I felt bad for her.
- 11:45Speaker 2: I did the way he described it, knowing she's going
- 11:48Speaker 2: to watch it back some day.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Would you imagine if your husband said some crap like
- 11:53Speaker 1: that on TV about you. My wife's loyal like a dog,
- 11:56Speaker 1: So I was thinking maybe a dog. Maybe her design
- 11:59Speaker 1: could be a dog can Oh my god. And then
- 12:02Speaker 1: we then we have Janelle, whose elements earth? Why because
- 12:08Speaker 1: she's like a turust I guess I mean, is he
- 12:11Speaker 1: basing some of his inspirations off of like astrological placements?
- 12:17Speaker 1: I mean I thought so. But then he said that
- 12:19Speaker 1: Christine's element was air, but she's aries and that's fire.
- 12:23Speaker 2: But it has the word aer in kind of maybe
- 12:27Speaker 2: that's what he was going.
- 12:28Speaker 1: He's so dumb, Oh my god, embarrassing. Yes, we have Janelle,
- 12:33Speaker 1: she's earth. So he picked a tree.
- 12:36Speaker 2: So boring, and you're gonna be looking at the picture
- 12:39Speaker 2: right here. It's just very unimpressive. No color nothing interesting.
- 12:45Speaker 2: I guess, like the little hearts for branches. But it's
- 12:47Speaker 2: like so pedestrious, it is so bad, so jewelry design,
- 12:51Speaker 2: one oh one.
- 12:52Speaker 1: And this was the necklace that Janelle left behind as
- 12:56Speaker 1: a symbol of their relationship in that pod or whatever
- 12:58Speaker 1: in the middle of the air Zona desert on her
- 13:00Speaker 1: way to North Carolina. And she was like, this meant
- 13:03Speaker 1: so much to me. It was the symbol of our relationship.
- 13:05Speaker 1: And I'm like, this is ugly tree, okay, okay. And
- 13:10Speaker 1: then we have Christine's necklace okay. And because she's air,
- 13:15Speaker 1: what represents.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Air fairies because also air in the word fairies.
- 13:21Speaker 1: I mean, he's so dumb.
- 13:22Speaker 2: And next to her design, he wrote the word ethereal,
- 13:26Speaker 2: but with like an ei, like.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Noticing that you're dumb, dumb. It is so dumb, stupid, stupid,
- 13:32Speaker 1: super stupid. But he designs some fairy and a heart
- 13:36Speaker 1: or whatever. It looks awful. And I remember, I can't
- 13:40Speaker 1: remember if it's the next episode or the one after
- 13:42Speaker 1: or whatever. When he finally gives the necklaces to everybody,
- 13:45Speaker 1: because after this meeting, Cody's like, I'm worried that one
- 13:48Speaker 1: of the other wives is gonna be jealous of one
- 13:50Speaker 1: of my other beautiful designs for the other wife. Okay,
- 13:54Speaker 1: he gives Christine her necklace and she's like, oh thanks,
- 13:57Speaker 1: I hate it. REMI literally hates it. Oh my god. Yeah,
- 14:01Speaker 1: and they have a whole discussion about it on the
- 14:02Speaker 1: couch and everything. Okay, I can't wait to get to it. Yeah.
- 14:05Speaker 2: I mean he's thinking fairy because again air I guess,
- 14:09Speaker 2: but also because fairies have that darker shadow side, and
- 14:13Speaker 2: he's like, sometimes fairies will bite you, yeah, which is
- 14:16Speaker 2: what I think he's really wanting to shine a light on.
- 14:18Speaker 2: And the manufacturer's like, oh, so she's a little bit mischievous,
- 14:21Speaker 2: and he's like, yeah, that's what it is, totally. It
- 14:23Speaker 2: Also she bites me all the time, which is constantly
- 14:25Speaker 2: coming for this neck right here.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, honestly, Cody, you deserve it. Yeah, he does
- 14:30Speaker 1: deserve it. And then we go to a store named
- 14:35Speaker 1: Guilt and some run down Vegas casino.
- 14:40Speaker 2: The Silverton Casino in Nevada. Now, before we get there,
- 14:44Speaker 2: we have Mary telling us to the camera that they've
- 14:47Speaker 2: had some customer feedback from their various expos and website chronicles. Yeah,
- 14:55Speaker 2: and the feedback has told them that their jewelry, their
- 14:58Speaker 2: junk jewelry is ugly, is way too expensive, and so
- 15:02Speaker 2: they're looking for some cheaper pieces. And so what the
- 15:05Speaker 2: Browns are about to do is roll out an exclusive
- 15:08Speaker 2: wholesale jewelry line that they.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Know is just going to kill it, oh totally.
- 15:14Speaker 2: And to validate this, this casino at the Silverton Casino
- 15:18Speaker 2: and mall or whatever has reached out and said, we
- 15:21Speaker 2: would like to exclusively carry your wholesale.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Junk Mormon jewelry.
- 15:27Speaker 2: And they're so excited, and Robin's just like, oh my god,
- 15:30Speaker 2: this is the validation that I need, that this is such.
- 15:33Speaker 1: A good idea. Totally absolutely save our family totally. So
- 15:37Speaker 1: they go on over to the casino, Yeah, and they
- 15:39Speaker 1: talk with the owner of the manager Love Guilt, and
- 15:46Speaker 1: Cody talks about how excited he is. He thinks it's
- 15:48Speaker 1: going to bring more people by selling their stuff wholesale,
- 15:51Speaker 1: which I'm like, how much is your wholesale?
- 15:53Speaker 2: But he's telling the manager of this inappropriately named casino store, Guilt, Yeah,
- 15:59Speaker 2: He's telling her, well, because you are going to be
- 16:02Speaker 2: carrying exclusively our wholesale jewelry, this is going to become
- 16:07Speaker 2: a destination spot.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Totally. Like, people who are into the.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Sister Wives are going to drive here from Wisconsin and
- 16:14Speaker 2: North Dakota and South Carolina just to buy this wholesale
- 16:18Speaker 2: twenty dollars trinket junk jewelry.
- 16:21Speaker 1: It's genius, really gonna be awesome. I mean, honestly, their
- 16:24Speaker 1: business sense is top notch here. It's really great what
- 16:28Speaker 1: they're doing well.
- 16:29Speaker 2: And you have the Manu factorer saying to the camera
- 16:32Speaker 2: that there have been other casinos specifically that were somewhat
- 16:36Speaker 2: interested in carrying the line. But then it gets kind
- 16:39Speaker 2: of kicked up the corporate ladder and somebody at the
- 16:42Speaker 2: top puts the kibosh.
- 16:43Speaker 1: On it because we don't want to offend people. Yeah,
- 16:46Speaker 1: I'm sure that's why.
- 16:47Speaker 2: And the lady is like, it's a casino, it's in
- 16:49Speaker 2: Las Vegas, Nevada, Like, what are you worried about. They're
- 16:52Speaker 2: not worried, honey.
- 16:53Speaker 1: No, it's crap. Yeah, that's why they don't want to
- 16:55Speaker 1: sell it at their casino. It's trash. They don't want
- 16:59Speaker 1: to sell it at all because it's ugly, just be honest,
- 17:01Speaker 1: Not because you're polygamists. Oh my god, I'm so tired
- 17:05Speaker 1: of that already. In these Rewhine episodes, like I know
- 17:08Speaker 1: that we're going back in time and this was a
- 17:10Speaker 1: big deal back then, but like you're real a big deal.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Oh my god, I just can't stand listening to it.
- 17:16Speaker 1: It's like, oh my god, they hate us because we're different.
- 17:19Speaker 2: They could carry our jewelry at their various and sundry
- 17:23Speaker 2: casinos and they'd make a whole lot of money, but
- 17:25Speaker 2: because we're polygamists, they won't do it.
- 17:27Speaker 1: So eternally oppressed. No, it's because it's so ugly.
- 17:32Speaker 2: And Robin even says on the couch like, if this
- 17:34Speaker 2: doesn't work, then we're gonna have to go back to
- 17:37Speaker 2: the drawing board and figure out, like what are we
- 17:39Speaker 2: missing here? Yeah, maybe come up with something new. And
- 17:43Speaker 2: to my understanding, it's not gonna work. No, do they
- 17:47Speaker 2: ever go back to the drawing board change up their
- 17:49Speaker 2: game punt?
- 17:50Speaker 1: Also, so I don't think so at all. I don't
- 17:52Speaker 1: even know if Janelle even does her plus size Mormon
- 17:54Speaker 1: Holy Line.
- 17:56Speaker 2: I would love to see it. I would love to
- 17:57Speaker 2: Did anybody ever buy it?
- 17:59Speaker 1: I don't know. Would you like to model it for us?
- 18:01Speaker 1: Would you like to send us the picture so we
- 18:03Speaker 1: could feature it? Right? Here. That'd be great. I would
- 18:05Speaker 1: love that. I would love that too. But Janelle, also
- 18:08Speaker 1: on the couch, is like, yeah, I'm gonna do my
- 18:09Speaker 1: own thing for right now. Yeah, I'm going to focus
- 18:12Speaker 1: on my real estate and I'm just gonna do that
- 18:15Speaker 1: and maybe I'll come back to my sosuarves closet or
- 18:17Speaker 1: maybe not. And you can see Robin getting pissed off.
- 18:20Speaker 2: By that, like she kind of rolls her eyes a
- 18:22Speaker 2: little bit. When Janelle says that she's mad, she is
- 18:25Speaker 2: totally mad. Well, but Janelle, you're either in or you're out,
- 18:28Speaker 2: I mean, right, and you have told her you were
- 18:30Speaker 2: going to participate, yeah, and you're like, yeah, I'm not
- 18:32Speaker 2: into it. I have to feed my kids, as it
- 18:33Speaker 2: turns out. And now you're like, maybe I'll do the
- 18:35Speaker 2: books or whatever. Yeah, but she just doesn't believe in
- 18:38Speaker 2: the concept and you can't blame her, but you would
- 18:41Speaker 2: love to hear her say it though.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Of course, Janelle's kind of a pushover a little bit.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Like Cody will say something to her, he'll sweet talk,
- 18:49Speaker 1: or he'll give her that sweet sweet pencil, and then
- 18:52Speaker 1: she'd be like, oh my god, yeah, I had an epiphany,
- 18:54Speaker 1: like I'll be involved, and then it'll wear off and
- 18:57Speaker 1: then she'd be like, this is so stupid, though, yeah,
- 19:00Speaker 1: and she'll go back to her regular thing. But yeah,
- 19:04Speaker 1: they're going to sell stuff at Guilt. Cody puts on
- 19:06Speaker 1: an apron and talks about how masculine he.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Is, which is so bizarre, and the entire store identity
- 19:13Speaker 2: was strange to me. I felt like it was a
- 19:15Speaker 2: little bit hypocritical of Robin and Christine. And Christine does
- 19:19Speaker 2: talk about like how she had like some hesitation because
- 19:22Speaker 2: the store is called Guilt and they have like this
- 19:26Speaker 2: religious business. They are religious people, so why would they
- 19:29Speaker 2: want to align their brand with a store called Guilt.
- 19:33Speaker 2: But once they get in there, Robin is so taken
- 19:36Speaker 2: aback by the offerings. Oh my god, I would put
- 19:39Speaker 2: all of this stuff in my house. Yeah, I'm like, yeah,
- 19:42Speaker 2: that's because it looks like it's a cracker barrel. Seriously,
- 19:45Speaker 2: these frilly aprons and word art yep.
- 19:49Speaker 1: And the mermaids out on the lobby, Oh my god. Scandal.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Christine was scandalized by a little bit by the mermaids
- 19:55Speaker 2: a little bit. She's like, well, they're scantily clad, but
- 19:58Speaker 2: at the same time, they're mermaids, aren't they sippos?
- 20:00Speaker 1: Yeah, they're in the waters, and it's fine.
- 20:02Speaker 2: But if I'm out at a restaurant and one of
- 20:05Speaker 2: the waitresses is scantily clad, I definitely don't like that.
- 20:09Speaker 1: I'm just like this.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Conversation about purity modesty. But then at the same time,
- 20:14Speaker 2: you're in a casino, and I think gambling goes against
- 20:17Speaker 2: the tenant of your religion tenants of your religion, But
- 20:20Speaker 2: you're in a casino at a store called guilt. Yeah,
- 20:24Speaker 2: mag it makes sense.
- 20:24Speaker 1: It doesn't make any sense, it makes sense. And I
- 20:26Speaker 1: think even Gina the manufacturer says, like bill fail if
- 20:30Speaker 1: they remain too conservative, and they do.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Yeah, spoiler alert. I don't know if they fail because
- 20:37Speaker 2: they're too conservative. No, I think they fail because they suck. Yeah,
- 20:40Speaker 2: and they're dumb.
- 20:41Speaker 1: That's my theory, my working theory. I'm workshopping right now.
- 20:45Speaker 1: I agree. And then we have Janelle go to the
- 20:48Speaker 1: gym again to get weighed and talk about how the
- 20:52Speaker 1: scale's not moving again and she gets yelled at by
- 20:55Speaker 1: her personal train and it's such a mystery. How could
- 20:59Speaker 1: it be? Why is the scale? And I just can
- 21:02Speaker 1: we just talk about that?
- 21:04Speaker 2: Like in science ye types of ways, I'd get it, Okay,
- 21:08Speaker 2: Like I'm I'm rocking a tubo body and everything. Okay,
- 21:11Speaker 2: I'm a marsupial with my Marsupial pouch, my baby Joy
- 21:14Speaker 2: and I'm rocking my baby Joey over here. However, like
- 21:18Speaker 2: it's calories in, calories out, I get it. There's some
- 21:22Speaker 2: things that, like you know, will make it harder, like
- 21:24Speaker 2: you got pcos you got thyritish is absolutely It doesn't
- 21:27Speaker 2: mean you can't lose weight. And the fact that Janelle,
- 21:30Speaker 2: based on what she's saying in this episode, has been
- 21:33Speaker 2: working her ass off and she does look like she's
- 21:35Speaker 2: losing weight.
- 21:36Speaker 1: She's lost ten inches off her wai. She looks good.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Yeah, But the fact that she has been working out
- 21:41Speaker 2: as hard as she is and the scale is not
- 21:43Speaker 2: moving means that our girl is a secret eater totally.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Have you ever seen that show? Of course I am,
- 21:52Speaker 1: of course, I don't know what I could be doing wrong.
- 21:55Speaker 1: I barely eat anything.
- 21:56Speaker 2: I promise that they put a private investigator on their tail.
- 22:00Speaker 1: And watch them go to the buffet and eat.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Yeah, ten thousand calories and one's sitting Like I think
- 22:04Speaker 2: Janelle is a secret eater totally. So she gets on
- 22:09Speaker 2: that scale yep, and it hasn't moved, not a bit,
- 22:12Speaker 2: and she's disillusioned.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean she granted, she's lost like thirty something pounds,
- 22:17Speaker 1: which is good, and she has lost inches off her waist,
- 22:19Speaker 1: which her trainer keeps trying to point out to her
- 22:22Speaker 1: because I guess since the last way. And she lost
- 22:24Speaker 1: another two inches, which is good. And we see a
- 22:27Speaker 1: flashback of her at some point, and she does look
- 22:30Speaker 1: smaller very much so, so like she is doing the
- 22:33Speaker 1: work but not doing She's doing some of the work exactly.
- 22:36Speaker 1: I'm just wondering how much she's changing her diet. She's not.
- 22:40Speaker 2: You know what they say is that, like the diet
- 22:43Speaker 2: is actually like ninety percent of it. Exercise is awesome,
- 22:45Speaker 2: but like it's really what you're putting into your body.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Yep.
- 22:47Speaker 2: And so at some point after they weigh in and
- 22:51Speaker 2: the scale hasn't moved, they go to consult this nutritionist
- 22:55Speaker 2: dietician called the Kettlebell Bombshell, Yeah, who is also stupid
- 23:01Speaker 2: and dumb. It's like, well, we really just want to
- 23:04Speaker 2: make sure that you're getting nutrition.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Have you heard of it?
- 23:07Speaker 2: Yeah, like the food that you eat is like denser
- 23:10Speaker 2: or something, yeah, like is it dense? Though?
- 23:12Speaker 1: Yeah? Do you know what that means? Just like oh
- 23:14Speaker 1: my god and that.
- 23:16Speaker 2: But at the end of their stupid monologue, the kettle
- 23:19Speaker 2: Bell Bombshell says, I think we're gonna have to go
- 23:21Speaker 2: back to you eating fifteen hundred calories a.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Day fifteen hundred yet, which means Janelle hasn't been eating
- 23:28Speaker 1: of course, which it brings into mind like, well, what
- 23:34Speaker 1: have you been eating, Janelle? Exactly exactly. She's probably eaten
- 23:38Speaker 1: ice cream late at night. I mean, hey, I know it,
- 23:41Speaker 1: I know it, I get it, but it's about acknowledging that. Yeah.
- 23:45Speaker 1: I can't stand when people like complain and they're like
- 23:47Speaker 1: I've done everything.
- 23:48Speaker 2: I promise it's a mystery, like no, you haven't though, yeah,
- 23:53Speaker 2: like just to own up to it, like I know,
- 23:55Speaker 2: I'm not losing my twenty pounds that I need to
- 23:57Speaker 2: lose because I'm getting McDonald's.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Sometimes I don't care my life.
- 24:00Speaker 2: I just don't care. I'm willing to rock a big
- 24:02Speaker 2: old stuff, a big old boulder. I have no problem
- 24:06Speaker 2: with that, right exactly. But like, if I want to
- 24:09Speaker 2: lose weight, which by the way, I have one I'm
- 24:11Speaker 2: about to get crazy. Oh my god, him about Quito
- 24:15Speaker 2: slash Paleo, this ifing, and I'm probably going to fast
- 24:19Speaker 2: one day.
- 24:19Speaker 1: I'm going to get craz like one meal a week.
- 24:23Speaker 1: I'm going to come on with like no voice about
- 24:27Speaker 1: how you're so tired, but I'll be no food and
- 24:30Speaker 1: I'll be sitterer. Yeah, sure I'll be. But I'm about
- 24:33Speaker 1: to kind of cause I gotta coat visit my.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Prid everything every like two to three months before I
- 24:41Speaker 2: take my road trip up to Iowa to visit my
- 24:43Speaker 2: brother who.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Does not care at all.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Nobody cares at all, but I care. Yeah, so crazy,
- 24:49Speaker 2: I'm going to go on some crazy thing.
- 24:52Speaker 1: But bat is Now. One thing I was.
- 24:54Speaker 2: A little bit put off by was her trainer, Sean
- 24:57Speaker 2: or whatever his name is, because he's like, yeah, you
- 25:01Speaker 2: want to get on the scale and it makes you neurotic.
- 25:04Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, well, it's just a data point. Actually,
- 25:06Speaker 2: it's just something to help her analyze where she is,
- 25:09Speaker 2: Like I think it's okay, it can make you neurotic, yeah,
- 25:11Speaker 2: but like why are you getting agro though, And then
- 25:13Speaker 2: to the camera he's like, I'm just sick of her
- 25:16Speaker 2: always wanting to get on the scale and he hits it.
- 25:18Speaker 2: I'm like, Sean, calmed down. Yeah, you're a personal trainer.
- 25:22Speaker 2: This is one element of information. It's very valuable. Like,
- 25:25Speaker 2: get more neutral about it. Poor Janelle, she just wants
- 25:27Speaker 2: to know what she weighs.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm kind of questioning his credentials because he's talking
- 25:33Speaker 1: about how you lose inches before you lose pounds, and
- 25:36Speaker 1: I'm like, that doesn't make any sense. You have to
- 25:39Speaker 1: lose pounds, yeah, to lose inches, but like, you know whatever.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Right, and there's the whole muscle weighs more than fact.
- 25:48Speaker 2: I'm like, well, no, but a pound is a pound
- 25:49Speaker 2: though exactly pound is a pound.
- 25:51Speaker 1: But I get it. I understand what he's saying.
- 25:53Speaker 2: And he just wants her to sort of untether from
- 25:55Speaker 2: the number and get into all this body.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Addiyaudi, that's looking real good. I mean she is looking
- 26:01Speaker 1: great and enough exactly that it's not enough. She's two
- 26:04Speaker 1: hundred and forty three pounds.
- 26:05Speaker 2: She wants to be one hundred and forty three pounds, right,
- 26:07Speaker 2: and she does need to switch it up.
- 26:09Speaker 1: Yeah, she needs to stop eating the ice cream. And
- 26:11Speaker 1: I don't think she ever does. No, I don't think
- 26:13Speaker 1: she does. I don't think she does. Maybe she just
- 26:15Speaker 1: accepts herself. No, she's doing the plexus thing now where
- 26:17Speaker 1: you can burn forty pounds drinking the stream. No, I
- 26:23Speaker 1: don't think she's lost a No. And Christine's doing the
- 26:25Speaker 1: same thing now with h David. She said David lost
- 26:27Speaker 1: twenty five pounds by.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Drinking pounds by drinking plexus. It's all such a scam.
- 26:32Speaker 2: They're doing ozempics, he's totally doing. They're on seglue, tide
- 26:35Speaker 2: and the GP one just like Mary two, absolutely all
- 26:38Speaker 2: of them are McKelty. All of just be honest.
- 26:40Speaker 1: They can't be honest, No, they can't. And then we
- 26:44Speaker 1: have Mary and Cody going on a little hikey poop
- 26:48Speaker 1: and this is where it gets good. Yeah, this is
- 26:50Speaker 1: really good. So Mary goes hiking in her clogs, even
- 26:53Speaker 1: though she knew that they were going to the Red Canyon.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Did she? Yeah, she did. I don't Well, she said
- 26:58Speaker 1: it was her idea.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Okay, But like if Cody is your husband, yeah, and
- 27:04Speaker 2: he knows he's going to take you on a hike
- 27:06Speaker 2: up into the red rocks of it all, and the
- 27:10Speaker 2: producers probably know this as well, And you're walking out
- 27:13Speaker 2: in clogs, don't you like take a second and say, hey,
- 27:16Speaker 2: you might want to run in there and put some
- 27:17Speaker 2: tennis shoes on. But he's so detached from Mary he
- 27:21Speaker 2: notices nothing about her and cares nothing about her that
- 27:25Speaker 2: he doesn't even notice. And they get into his stupid
- 27:27Speaker 2: little lexus and off they go for their picnic. And
- 27:30Speaker 2: then she's got a hike. Yeah, she's got a scale,
- 27:32Speaker 2: makes Scott faces in her clog.
- 27:35Speaker 1: He makes her hike because he doesn't give a crab now,
- 27:37Speaker 1: and he's like yelling at her to go faster. She's
- 27:40Speaker 1: walking up in her claw right, And I was like
- 27:42Speaker 1: looking at her shoes and they're not even like the
- 27:45Speaker 1: clogs that go all the way over your feet. They're
- 27:46Speaker 1: slip on. So I'm like, what are we doing? But
- 27:49Speaker 1: then they get to their hiking spot, they put down
- 27:51Speaker 1: a blanket. It's raw romantic, and they have a little
- 27:54Speaker 1: picnic and they're going to have a talk about having
- 27:59Speaker 1: a baby because Mary made a decision apparently and so
- 28:02Speaker 1: has Cody.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Well, yes, they're going to have the conversation, but the
- 28:07Speaker 2: way that it's framed is that Mary really wants to
- 28:10Speaker 2: know what Cody thinks and can we just like, me,
- 28:14Speaker 2: can we just go back to the beginning a little bit? Yeah,
- 28:16Speaker 2: because for every single season we've had at least one
- 28:20Speaker 2: episode where Cody is asking her what do you want
- 28:23Speaker 2: to do? Yeah, and she's been like, I just don't know.
- 28:27Speaker 2: She starts crying and we'll never get an answer. And
- 28:30Speaker 2: in a few of those scenes from the past, we've
- 28:32Speaker 2: had Cody seeming to be optimistic, like into it, like
- 28:36Speaker 2: I'd love to do it. But it's been a couple
- 28:39Speaker 2: two three years at this point, and Mary's just now
- 28:45Speaker 2: checking in with Cody to see where Cody is feeling
- 28:47Speaker 2: after he's been chasing her tail, trying to get a
- 28:51Speaker 2: final answer about what she wants to do, and she's like, well,
- 28:55Speaker 2: but I want to know what you want to do, Cody,
- 28:58Speaker 2: because I'm confused. Did you notice how He's like, okay,
- 29:01Speaker 2: so you want my opinion? And then she the way
- 29:03Speaker 2: she's talking to him. Did you notice this or was
- 29:05Speaker 2: it just me? She's like, yes, I want to know
- 29:07Speaker 2: what you have to say.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a little harsh, and Cody's just like this, yeah,
- 29:11Speaker 1: I know, And I feel like this is part of
- 29:14Speaker 1: the problem is the way Mary comes at him. She's
- 29:17Speaker 1: intense yeah, very intense, and the way she kind of
- 29:19Speaker 1: just yells at him, right, so she asks him, well,
- 29:23Speaker 1: what do you want to do and then Cody's like, yeah,
- 29:25Speaker 1: so my gut is no, yeah, it's actually been and
- 29:29Speaker 1: oh for a minute, I don't want a baby. I
- 29:31Speaker 1: don't want to do that, you know, with you specifically
- 29:34Speaker 1: I'm going to knock up Robin here in a little while,
- 29:37Speaker 1: but not with you. I don't want to have a
- 29:39Speaker 1: baby with you. I'd be cool with it, though, if
- 29:41Speaker 1: it happened naturally, which had to have stung because they're
- 29:45Speaker 1: not having sad no, of course, not because he knows
- 29:48Speaker 1: that it's never going to happen, of course. Yeah, And
- 29:51Speaker 1: that's what I thought this during this entire conversation, I'm like,
- 29:54Speaker 1: is this like a roundabout way of talking about ending intimacy? Like,
- 29:59Speaker 1: because the ways they were talking about it was really
- 30:02Speaker 1: weird because Mary is like surprised that Cody's all of
- 30:05Speaker 1: a sudden saying no, And I mean, I guess it
- 30:09Speaker 1: is surprising because the last couple seasons Cody has been
- 30:12Speaker 1: the one initiating the conversation and initiating the idea of
- 30:15Speaker 1: like IVF, we could do surrogacy like, do you want
- 30:17Speaker 1: to have a baby? We can try, we can do
- 30:19Speaker 1: it right now. And now he's saying nah, And so
- 30:23Speaker 1: she's a little surprised and then brings up going to
- 30:26Speaker 1: a doctor.
- 30:28Speaker 2: This is what kills me, Yeah, because she wants Cody
- 30:32Speaker 2: to chase her, right. She wants Cody to want to know,
- 30:35Speaker 2: what are you going to do? She wants Cody to
- 30:38Speaker 2: want her, And I feel like she's using this as
- 30:42Speaker 2: an issue to make him do that. Yeah, all of
- 30:44Speaker 2: a sudden, Cody's like, yeah, I don't want that anymore.
- 30:47Speaker 2: I mean, and let's be real, you're forty three years old,
- 30:49Speaker 2: and I mean that the odds are less likely, and
- 30:52Speaker 2: you know, it's a whole different ballgame out here, and
- 30:55Speaker 2: it's not happened naturally, and I'm just not feeling it
- 30:57Speaker 2: in my spirit, and so let's just say no that.
- 31:00Speaker 2: And then Mary's like, but I could go.
- 31:02Speaker 1: To the doctor. Yeah, Like, well, but you've.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Already been to the doctor. But why haven't you been
- 31:07Speaker 2: pursuing that this full time? Then why did it take
- 31:10Speaker 2: him saying I don't want it anymore. I've chased your
- 31:13Speaker 2: ass around this entire time. I'm not into it anymore
- 31:16Speaker 2: for you to say, but I could still go to
- 31:18Speaker 2: the doctor, right.
- 31:19Speaker 1: That was so stupid to me because she brings it
- 31:22Speaker 1: up and then Cody's like, well, yeah, you could, but
- 31:25Speaker 1: like ask them what and she's like, well, I don't know,
- 31:27Speaker 1: I'd have to talk to the doctor. It's like, if
- 31:29Speaker 1: this was actually something you wanted, you would have figured
- 31:32Speaker 1: out all of that information already, and you haven't, so
- 31:34Speaker 1: you're totally right. She totally does want Cody to keep
- 31:38Speaker 1: chasing her. And this is the only thing that she
- 31:40Speaker 1: really has tying to Cody because she's the infertile wife.
- 31:46Speaker 1: She doesn't have all of the other kids. And I'm
- 31:47Speaker 1: not trying to shit on Mary here, but like that's
- 31:49Speaker 1: what she values her worth on. She even talks about
- 31:52Speaker 1: she she does. I think it's when she gets to
- 31:55Speaker 1: Robin and she tells Robin about their decision, which was
- 31:57Speaker 1: very weird to me, but whatever. She's like, I don't
- 32:00Speaker 1: know what value I will bring to the family now
- 32:03Speaker 1: that I won't have a baby. And then she talks
- 32:06Speaker 1: about how her and Cody are on a different level
- 32:08Speaker 1: than the other wives.
- 32:09Speaker 2: How she's on a different level. She doesn't say Cody,
- 32:11Speaker 2: she said her, I'm on a different level because I
- 32:13Speaker 2: don't have young children.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Well, she said, their relationships different, she said that, and
- 32:17Speaker 1: then I'm on a different level because I'm going to
- 32:18Speaker 1: be an empty nester. And she thought about being an
- 32:21Speaker 1: empty nester with Cody. She always envisioned that she would
- 32:24Speaker 1: do it with Cody. But now she's at that point
- 32:27Speaker 1: in her life and she's alone, she doesn't have anybody.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Cody's straight up abandoning her. That's what she's telling us
- 32:35Speaker 1: by not really telling us. And that's why I think
- 32:37Speaker 1: this whole conversation was about intimacy. I wonder if at
- 32:40Speaker 1: this point in time they stopped fucking, because she said
- 32:44Speaker 1: in season nineteen or whatever, it's been over ten years
- 32:47Speaker 1: or something, and I wonder if this was.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Kind of one that was happening. Yeah, yeah, I don't
- 32:52Speaker 2: think they're being intimate now. I think Cody absolutely knows
- 32:55Speaker 2: when he says, well, if God or nature says yes,
- 32:58Speaker 2: and it's a yes, but he already knows, like they're
- 33:00Speaker 2: not actually together in that way unless it's an immaculate conception.
- 33:04Speaker 2: God has nothing to do with that. You're not boning
- 33:06Speaker 2: your wife, you're not taking her to pound out her day,
- 33:09Speaker 2: and so it's not going to happen unless you do,
- 33:10Speaker 2: and he doesn't want to do it. And I guess
- 33:13Speaker 2: this just shocks Mary. I think this is a blow
- 33:15Speaker 2: straight to her heart and into her ego, and it
- 33:17Speaker 2: really does cause her to have all of these internal earthquakes. Okay, well,
- 33:21Speaker 2: if we don't have this, then if there's not a
- 33:24Speaker 2: child that I can kind of dangle in front of him,
- 33:26Speaker 2: the prospect of conceiving and or having a child.
- 33:29Speaker 1: If I no.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Longer have that, then what do I have? What value
- 33:33Speaker 2: am I bringing to this family?
- 33:34Speaker 1: Yikes?
- 33:35Speaker 2: And I think we're entering into the era of Mary
- 33:39Speaker 2: trying to find herself and figure out like what is
- 33:42Speaker 2: her role again? Where is her value? And also what
- 33:45Speaker 2: does she want? And of course this is going to
- 33:47Speaker 2: lead us down the catfish journey exactly, which I can't
- 33:51Speaker 2: wait to get to. It sounds really juicy, But I
- 33:53Speaker 2: felt bad for Mary. I just wish she had opened
- 33:57Speaker 2: her adult, big aged mouth communicated like a long time ago.
- 34:02Speaker 2: And if this is something you were truly thinking about,
- 34:05Speaker 2: why haven't you been consulting with doctors perhabilities specialists and
- 34:09Speaker 2: really understanding what it's about. And I thought you already
- 34:12Speaker 2: did that. I thought you had the information you needed, right, Like,
- 34:16Speaker 2: why do you need to go back to doctors unless
- 34:18Speaker 2: you want to keep just dangling that carrot.
- 34:21Speaker 1: I'm like that must be what it is, because I
- 34:23Speaker 1: was actually getting frustrated with Mary, Like I was trying
- 34:25Speaker 1: to like have compassion for her, because it's sad that
- 34:28Speaker 1: she thinks that her only worth in the family is
- 34:31Speaker 1: being a fertile myrtle and having all of these kids.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Like that's sad. She's worth more than that, of course,
- 34:36Speaker 1: but I was getting so annoyed with her just going
- 34:38Speaker 1: back and forth on this thing, because I'm just thinking, like,
- 34:40Speaker 1: you could have taken up Robin's offer of surrogacy when
- 34:44Speaker 1: she popped out Solomon, Like she was willing to do
- 34:46Speaker 1: that for you, and I know it probably would have
- 34:48Speaker 1: been a weird dynamic, but like, if you truly did
- 34:50Speaker 1: want another kid and you wanted to raise kids with Robin,
- 34:54Speaker 1: why didn't you take her up on that offer? Why
- 34:56Speaker 1: did it take you fricking four years to do that?
- 34:58Speaker 2: Well, it's also valid if you don't, that's okay, I guess, well,
- 35:01Speaker 2: but like, don't be shocked then when he's like I'm
- 35:03Speaker 2: forty three, right, and it's not in the cards for
- 35:06Speaker 2: you and me anymore, maybe for me and my younger
- 35:08Speaker 2: wife or whatever, But like, I'm not into it anymore,
- 35:10Speaker 2: Like he's he's got an opinion as well, And I
- 35:13Speaker 2: just feel.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Like that was what surprised her.
- 35:16Speaker 2: She thought she could keep him on the hook indefinitely.
- 35:20Speaker 2: And if it were me and I'm Mary and I'm
- 35:23Speaker 2: in this family structure, in this dynamic, I'm like going
- 35:27Speaker 2: to have this conversation with my husband and I'm going
- 35:30Speaker 2: to be like, Okay, well, if we don't have a
- 35:32Speaker 2: child together, we've got Leon moving out of.
- 35:34Speaker 1: The house, where does that leave you and I? Right?
- 35:38Speaker 2: And like what value do I bring to this relationship?
- 35:40Speaker 2: What do you want from me? And like this is
- 35:43Speaker 2: what I'm thinking from you? And how can we support
- 35:45Speaker 2: each other? And what does our next chapter actually look like?
- 35:48Speaker 2: I don't get the impression that they have these types
- 35:51Speaker 2: of conversations, not at all, Like I feel like this
- 35:54Speaker 2: this conversation here out in Red Rocks Canyon can springboard
- 35:57Speaker 2: very organically into that much more in conversation, but they're
- 36:01Speaker 2: so unwilling to have it, and that too speaks to
- 36:04Speaker 2: their lack of emotional intimacy any kind of friendship or intimacy.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Oh totally, And witnessing this, I kind of understood. And
- 36:11Speaker 1: I don't want to like give Cody too much props here,
- 36:14Speaker 1: but like I kind of understood his perspective in season
- 36:16Speaker 1: nineteen of like how him and Mary just like never
- 36:19Speaker 1: really had that emotional intimacy because it's obvious, like how
- 36:23Speaker 1: are you not having these conversations with your partner off camera?
- 36:26Speaker 1: Like you don't need to have the camera crew there
- 36:29Speaker 1: to have this intimate conversation, but like you don't even talk.
- 36:32Speaker 1: You're not on the same page. After how many years
- 36:35Speaker 1: of talking about this baby stuff. And like we've been
- 36:37Speaker 1: talking about how this was like a producer storyline, and
- 36:40Speaker 1: maybe it was, but I think partially it was a
- 36:43Speaker 1: genuine thing from Cody and Robin trying to get married
- 36:46Speaker 1: to have another baby for some reason. You even see
- 36:49Speaker 1: that earlier in the episode, Robin's kids keep mentioning the
- 36:53Speaker 1: idea that Mary might want to have another baby. So
- 36:56Speaker 1: Robin's telling her kids and telling all the other little
- 36:59Speaker 1: ones like Isabelle was on the couch at the same time,
- 37:01Speaker 1: and like, yeah, Mary wants to have another child. Why
- 37:04Speaker 1: are we telling her? Why are we telling them.
- 37:07Speaker 2: That I have no idea, bizarre and sad, and I
- 37:10Speaker 2: think Mary is actually feeling real emotions here.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Yeah, totally. But the way they leave.
- 37:17Speaker 2: It at the picnic is Cody's like, let's just let's
- 37:20Speaker 2: just agree that we're gonna sit on no for a
- 37:22Speaker 2: little while. We're gonna meditate on our no because it's
- 37:26Speaker 2: a no from me dog literally, to meditate on the
- 37:29Speaker 2: know and like, maybe check back in sometime in the
- 37:32Speaker 2: future and see how that feels. Are waking are you
- 37:35Speaker 2: waking up at night? Are you crying about the no?
- 37:38Speaker 2: Or is like the no okay?
- 37:39Speaker 1: Because I'm feeling like the no is awesome? Yeah, I
- 37:41Speaker 1: think the no is great. Yeah. And so Mary's like, okay,
- 37:44Speaker 1: we can do that. Yeah defeated, which she's not saying
- 37:47Speaker 1: her real feelings here, which this is the opportunity to
- 37:50Speaker 1: do that with your.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Husband safe, but I feel unsafe.
- 37:54Speaker 1: And then they kiss and they hug and Cody that
- 37:57Speaker 1: was weird too.
- 37:58Speaker 2: I was actually look to really, my impulse was to
- 38:02Speaker 2: kind of look away because it was so awkward.
- 38:04Speaker 1: Turtle when he.
- 38:05Speaker 2: Said, can we seal it with a kiss? Or seal
- 38:08Speaker 2: this deal? And he leans in for a kiss and
- 38:09Speaker 2: it's just you can tell they haven't touched each other
- 38:13Speaker 2: in a very long time.
- 38:14Speaker 1: Yeah, and he doesn't like touching her specifically. And then
- 38:18Speaker 1: Robin comes over from her little house, walks over in
- 38:21Speaker 1: her clogs also to Mary's house to talk about this
- 38:25Speaker 1: conversation because Mary feels like Robin's owed an explanation.
- 38:31Speaker 2: Well because Robin was the one who initiated this surrogacy conversation.
- 38:36Speaker 2: But we see Robin before she even gets to Mary's
- 38:39Speaker 2: house to camera say something like, yeah, I guess Cody
- 38:42Speaker 2: and Mary had to talk about having a baby or something,
- 38:45Speaker 2: and so Mary wants to talk to me about it.
- 38:46Speaker 2: I don't know, as if Cody and she didn't workshop
- 38:50Speaker 2: what he was going to say out beforehand, as if
- 38:53Speaker 2: he didn't come right home and report everything back to her.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Which he absolutely did. Yes, why you always lying exactly?
- 39:01Speaker 1: And you can kind of tell she's a bad liar.
- 39:03Speaker 1: You can see it all over her face because she
- 39:05Speaker 1: sits down with Mary and Mary's like, yeah, so we
- 39:08Speaker 1: decided it's a no, we're not gonna have a baby.
- 39:11Speaker 1: And Robin's like, oh my god, really, why? Wow? Why?
- 39:18Speaker 1: You can kind of see like a smile that she's
- 39:20Speaker 1: trying to keep from forming, but she's she's happy about it.
- 39:24Speaker 1: And then Mary cries because she confesses to Robin that
- 39:29Speaker 1: actually she wanted to try to have a baby, that
- 39:31Speaker 1: was why she wanted to talk to Cody on the
- 39:33Speaker 1: Red Rocks. And I'm just like, why didn't you say that?
- 39:35Speaker 2: With your big girl seasons one through five, you could
- 39:37Speaker 2: have been saying that. You could say in the last
- 39:39Speaker 2: episode when we're digging with a shovel in our Las
- 39:43Speaker 2: Vegas backyard, when he asks you again and you put
- 39:46Speaker 2: him off, then it's so stupid, it's so dumbed.
- 39:50Speaker 1: She cries about it, and I'm just like, so annoyed
- 39:52Speaker 1: with Mary. I'm like, how old are you? And you
- 39:54Speaker 1: can't just say how you really feel?
- 39:57Speaker 2: She can't, And you know what, I think it's because
- 39:59Speaker 2: she is afraid. I think if she asks clarifying questions
- 40:03Speaker 2: from Cody, like well where do I fit in?
- 40:05Speaker 1: Now? What's going to happen with you?
- 40:06Speaker 2: And I I think she's afraid of his actual answer
- 40:09Speaker 2: because again, by this point, her Ring was already melted down.
- 40:12Speaker 2: He's already said I'm doing this so that you can't
- 40:14Speaker 2: control me. There's already been some huge issues in their relationship,
- 40:18Speaker 2: and she is afraid of him saying, well, I don't
- 40:21Speaker 2: want to be with you anymore. So she doesn't ask
- 40:22Speaker 2: the questions, she doesn't initiate conversations out of fear. But
- 40:27Speaker 2: she's going to be able to have this conversation with Robin,
- 40:30Speaker 2: who can hold some space for her, fake space, fake
- 40:34Speaker 2: space for her. And she says something like, well, I
- 40:37Speaker 2: just didn't know if maybe I wanted to have a
- 40:39Speaker 2: baby to replace Leon. I was kind of checking my
- 40:42Speaker 2: inner motivations around that. But it doesn't matter now because
- 40:46Speaker 2: it's a no. It's a no, and I'm sitting on
- 40:48Speaker 2: the no.
- 40:49Speaker 1: I'm meditating on the no. Yeah, knowing I think she
- 40:53Speaker 1: knows deep down what that really means, which is that
- 40:55Speaker 1: Cody's never going to touch her ever again. Yeah, Like seriously,
- 40:58Speaker 1: that's what I think. You Guys can say that I'm wrong,
- 41:03Speaker 1: but that's what I think it is. And I mean,
- 41:05Speaker 1: I want to give Mary grace here, and I understand
- 41:09Speaker 1: that it's a difficult decision to make, especially when you're
- 41:12Speaker 1: in your forties and like you'd have to go through
- 41:14Speaker 1: IVF or like you'd have to go through IVF either way,
- 41:17Speaker 1: Like if you wanted to carry it, or if you
- 41:19Speaker 1: wanted Robin to carry the baby and it would have
- 41:21Speaker 1: been difficult and it's your expensive and then like, do
- 41:26Speaker 1: you want to start over again in your forties after
- 41:28Speaker 1: Leon's going to college? Like I understand.
- 41:30Speaker 2: It's Cody going to be around because he's already favoring
- 41:33Speaker 2: another wife.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Right, And he says that he would be there for
- 41:36Speaker 1: the kid, but I'm like, no.
- 41:38Speaker 2: You would, but he's kind of talking about how it's
- 41:40Speaker 2: more her responsibility and to carry certainly her choice to
- 41:43Speaker 2: carry it. But I mean, I'll be there after the
- 41:45Speaker 2: baby's here totally. But I was almost felt, like vibrationally,
- 41:50Speaker 2: like he was warning her he might not be as
- 41:51Speaker 2: available exactly. Yes, she might expect him to be because
- 41:55Speaker 2: he's not into it and he's not into you and
- 41:56Speaker 2: he doesn't want to create life with you. I think
- 41:59Speaker 2: she was hoping to recreate a relationship with him from
- 42:04Speaker 2: this point on, and now she's going to have to
- 42:07Speaker 2: figure out what she's going to do.
- 42:09Speaker 1: And it feels to me.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Like Cody has repeatedly done this to her, like, by
- 42:16Speaker 2: Christmas twenty thirteen, you're going to need to tell me
- 42:19Speaker 2: whether you want to have a child or not, and
- 42:20Speaker 2: then we can start a relationship anew. And then we're
- 42:23Speaker 2: going to get to like later in Vegas. Well, if
- 42:26Speaker 2: you come to a flag staff with us and give
- 42:29Speaker 2: us all your money so we can buy Robin Hurt mcmanchin,
- 42:33Speaker 2: then we can start this relationship anew. And or here,
- 42:37Speaker 2: here's a list of all the things I need you
- 42:39Speaker 2: to do, and if you can do that, then we
- 42:41Speaker 2: can start this relationship.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Anew.
- 42:43Speaker 2: Now I'm wondering if what we're seeing with them out
- 42:45Speaker 2: on the rocks like this is just another version of that,
- 42:49Speaker 2: like let's sit on the No, I'm letting you down.
- 42:51Speaker 2: I don't want to be with you, but we'll come
- 42:53Speaker 2: back later and maybe we can start this relationship anew.
- 42:57Speaker 1: That's probably what it is. And that's a totally manipulative tactic,
- 43:01Speaker 1: and like such a narcissistic thing, because you know, Mary's
- 43:05Speaker 1: trying to dangle her carrot in front of Cody, but
- 43:07Speaker 1: really he's dangling his carrot in front of her, like
- 43:09Speaker 1: come over here, like no, no, no, I'm not leaving completely.
- 43:13Speaker 1: I'm just never gonna touch you ever again. And I'm
- 43:16Speaker 1: not gonna value you the same way that I value
- 43:18Speaker 1: my otherwise, especially Robin. But like maybe maybe there will
- 43:23Speaker 1: be a chance sometime in the distant future for something new.
- 43:27Speaker 1: Who knows, And Mary even says something like that, like
- 43:30Speaker 1: maybe we can recreate our relationship out of this, and
- 43:35Speaker 1: she's hoping that, but I'm like, it's never gonna happen.
- 43:37Speaker 2: It's not gonna happen, And you're gonna fall in love
- 43:39Speaker 2: with somebody else that you meet online, and then Cody's
- 43:42Speaker 2: gonna have the audacity to be buttered about it, yea,
- 43:45Speaker 2: after you've neglected her so thoroughly and dashed all of
- 43:48Speaker 2: her dreams and her hopes.
- 43:50Speaker 1: Yes, you've done this.
- 43:51Speaker 2: To her, and you're gonna be so shocked and hurt
- 43:53Speaker 2: and offended that she turned to somebody else for some
- 43:56Speaker 2: love and assurance.
- 43:58Speaker 1: And honestly, that was like the closest she got to leaving.
- 44:01Speaker 1: And then several years later of just her dealing with
- 44:04Speaker 1: the punishment from that and the repercussions of that, dealing
- 44:07Speaker 1: with this small little man getting mad about it because
- 44:11Speaker 1: she was just trying to feel something in her life.
- 44:13Speaker 1: Like I feel bad for Mary, but I'm also like
- 44:16Speaker 1: frustrated watching her sometimes because I'm like, oh my god.
- 44:19Speaker 2: Like, just leave, let's make a different choice for yourself,
- 44:22Speaker 2: making a powered choice, like what do you want? But like,
- 44:24Speaker 2: right here, right now, I think she wants Cody, Yeah,
- 44:27Speaker 2: right here, right now. I think she also doesn't have
- 44:30Speaker 2: a job, and trails is her job, and like, and
- 44:32Speaker 2: so if I'm not in this.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Family, like what am I going to do to earn money? Good?
- 44:35Speaker 2: But it's going to be a couple of years from
- 44:37Speaker 2: this point where she starts with Lularau. I know she's
- 44:39Speaker 2: continuing in the MLM now with Cody. They do that
- 44:42Speaker 2: business together right now in season six, Yeah, they're doing
- 44:45Speaker 2: season six, Yeah, right right now, season six what we're
- 44:47Speaker 2: watching in the rewind. But then she's going to go
- 44:50Speaker 2: on to Lularoaux and she's going to start making big bucks.
- 44:52Speaker 2: I wonder how much of that she contributed to this family,
- 44:56Speaker 2: bringing value in this different way which has nothing to
- 44:59Speaker 2: do with her cookie or ability to have babies. But
- 45:02Speaker 2: even that's not going to be enough. No, it's never
- 45:05Speaker 2: going to no, no, because he does not love you. No,
- 45:07Speaker 2: he doesn't at all. And then even now in twenty
- 45:10Speaker 2: twenty five, she's still making those cryptic Instagram posts because
- 45:13Speaker 2: she still can't be vulnerable. She still can't say how
- 45:15Speaker 2: she actually feels. And I'm just like, please just write
- 45:18Speaker 2: a book and like read everybody to filth, and like, right,
- 45:21Speaker 2: the book is going to be the front of the
- 45:23Speaker 2: house landscape. I mean, I know it's not going to
- 45:25Speaker 2: be the back of the house destitution. It's not going
- 45:29Speaker 2: to be She doesn't know yet how to share in
- 45:31Speaker 2: that authentic way.
- 45:32Speaker 1: I never will. I don't know.
- 45:33Speaker 2: I think that she's inclined toward personal development. I think
- 45:37Speaker 2: she's inclined maybe even toward therapy, although I don't know
- 45:40Speaker 2: if she's gotten any I don't think so. Like she
- 45:43Speaker 2: seems inclined to want to heal, so maybe that opens
- 45:46Speaker 2: up a space for her to actually heal over time.
- 45:49Speaker 1: But that's not right now. That is definitely not right now.
- 45:52Speaker 1: You know what they say, you can't teach an old
- 45:54Speaker 1: dog new tricks. Wow, that's true.
- 45:58Speaker 2: But sorry that I thought it. It's true in that
- 46:01Speaker 2: that's what people say. Yeah, but you're always I.
- 46:05Speaker 1: Know you're being so nice, but I know, no, But
- 46:07Speaker 1: I but I'm.
- 46:07Speaker 2: An old dog by by those stews. Yeah, but I'm
- 46:10Speaker 2: always out here like thinking about how I'm thinking about things? Yeah,
- 46:13Speaker 2: And I'm always thinking about like what how could I
- 46:15Speaker 2: do something better. Okay, No, not really, but you've also.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Been in therapy in a long time, and I've been growing.
- 46:21Speaker 2: I do want to be a blessing to people. I
- 46:23Speaker 2: do like want to actually live in a productive, constructive way.
- 46:26Speaker 1: Mary's charging people six thousand dollars to stay at a
- 46:29Speaker 1: Best Western Yeah, for her retreats. So it's like, yeah,
- 46:33Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm not trying to shit on Mary.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Don't come for me in the comments. It's just like,
- 46:37Speaker 1: I'm frustrated with you sometimes. I got really frustrated here.
- 46:39Speaker 2: Yes, I'm like, Okay, now all of a sudden you
- 46:40Speaker 2: want a baby after all this time and finding like,
- 46:43Speaker 2: what are we doing now?
- 46:44Speaker 1: All of a sudden you want to do all this? Oh,
- 46:46Speaker 1: miss me with that? So obnoxious? And then we get
- 46:49Speaker 1: to the preview okay for next week's episode. Now that
- 46:53Speaker 1: looks juicy.
- 46:54Speaker 2: And as somebody who's been on the periphery of the
- 46:57Speaker 2: Sister Whis multiverse, like, I've heard rumors about the panel
- 47:01Speaker 2: in which they confront Christine's aunt.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Yeah, so this is the aunt. Not correct me if
- 47:08Speaker 1: I'm wrong.
- 47:09Speaker 2: Who got out of polygamy yet was in some sort
- 47:12Speaker 2: of a traumatic polygamous experience, yes, and is she coming
- 47:16Speaker 2: to this panel to confront them? Like, what's going on?
- 47:19Speaker 2: What's the context?
- 47:19Speaker 1: I don't know if she's like coming to visit or
- 47:21Speaker 1: something and then she happens to be in town or
- 47:24Speaker 1: in the panel, or if she specifically comes to the
- 47:26Speaker 1: panel to shit on the family. Either way, I think
- 47:29Speaker 1: it's great, but I don't.
- 47:30Speaker 2: Think she's there to shit on the family, right, like
- 47:32Speaker 2: she's there to debate polygamy. Yes, but the way Christine
- 47:36Speaker 2: frames it is so petulant and immature. I don't know
- 47:39Speaker 2: why she hates my family so much, but I guess
- 47:41Speaker 2: she wants to come on TV and talk about how
- 47:42Speaker 2: she hates my family. No, it looks like she wants
- 47:45Speaker 2: to come on and talk about like the dangers of polygamy.
- 47:48Speaker 2: And as it turns out fast forwarding ten years, she's
- 47:50Speaker 2: absolutely right. But what do we have you talking about
- 47:53Speaker 2: that in season nineteen now about all the things your
- 47:56Speaker 2: aunt is.
- 47:56Speaker 1: About to say in season six? No, not at all.
- 47:59Speaker 1: But maybe the aunt is shitting on the family in
- 48:01Speaker 1: the context of Cody, like shitting on Cody as the
- 48:04Speaker 1: patriarch and everything like that. I don't know, We'll see
- 48:08Speaker 1: he deserves it. But this panel looks lit because you
- 48:12Speaker 1: also have that teenager, the angsty teenager that left polygamy
- 48:17Speaker 1: or whatever, that's there. He'm a stripper that yes.
- 48:19Speaker 2: Yeah, she's there, and now she's going to be yes
- 48:24Speaker 2: of course, and they're gonna be asking questions.
- 48:26Speaker 1: And then Robin gets really mad, really yeah, really really
- 48:31Speaker 1: mad because I think the aunt asks something of like
- 48:34Speaker 1: she's a victim or or Robin says, don't make me
- 48:37Speaker 1: out to be a victim just because you had trauma
- 48:39Speaker 1: and polygamy, and then Cody says something like that too.
- 48:42Speaker 1: I don't know. It's gonna be good. Yeah, yeah, I
- 48:44Speaker 1: can't wait. That looks really good.
- 48:45Speaker 2: Yeah, excited about it.
- 48:47Speaker 1: Yeah, well, this was an interesting episode.
- 48:49Speaker 2: Boring but boring, but like there's always little tidbits and
- 48:53Speaker 2: we do love to consume them.
- 48:54Speaker 1: You're in the dumpster.
- 48:56Speaker 2: Yeah, now, is there anything else that we want to
- 48:58Speaker 2: say to these beautiful racco before we get up on

- 49:16Speaker 2: Oh wait, sidebar, sidebar? What before we get out of
- 49:19Speaker 2: here sidebar? I was wondering Beatrice whether we should punt
- 49:23Speaker 2: this to our listeners and our viewers, this following question
- 49:27Speaker 2: about what to cover next in addition to Sister Wives.
- 49:30Speaker 2: Oh yeah, So, as you know, Sister Wives Season nineteen
- 49:33Speaker 2: is returning on April twentieth, But that week or thereabouts,
- 49:38Speaker 2: we also have The Valley on Bravo coming back, which
- 49:42Speaker 2: we watched last year and it was really great. In
- 49:46Speaker 2: addition to that, though, we have poly Family, Yeah, the
- 49:50Speaker 2: quad Polyquo of Cringe that will come good like around
- 49:55Speaker 2: the same time as well. I think for the General Pod,
- 49:58Speaker 2: we can only cover two shows at a time and
- 50:02Speaker 2: the rest is going to have to be relegated to Patreon.
- 50:05Speaker 2: But we want to know from y'all what do you
- 50:07Speaker 2: want us to cover more? Do you want us to
- 50:10Speaker 2: cover on the General Pod the Valley or would you
- 50:13Speaker 2: rather us cover poly Family? So drop in the comments
- 50:18Speaker 2: and let us know. Go onto our Instagram.
- 50:21Speaker 1: And me DM you.
- 50:23Speaker 2: Maybe we'll do a poll. I can do a pull
- 50:24Speaker 2: on YouTube, you can do a poll on Patreon and Instagram. Yeah,
- 50:27Speaker 2: but definitely let us know what you want us to cover,
- 50:30Speaker 2: and then whatever we don't cover, we will be cover
- 50:33Speaker 2: ring on Patreon. Yes, does that sound good? I think
- 50:35Speaker 2: that's Do you have a strong preference, like what you
- 50:38Speaker 2: would want to do.
- 50:39Speaker 1: Look, if we're going to do Polly Family on the
- 50:41Speaker 1: General Pod, don't cancel me. Yeah, that's the only thing.
- 50:44Speaker 1: Just don't cancel me.
- 50:45Speaker 2: So I don't think they're going to cancel you. I'm
- 50:47Speaker 2: going to be able to do anything. CANCELAB because I
- 50:50Speaker 2: can't with those people.
- 50:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm into it, I love it.
- 50:52Speaker 2: I know I'm really excited to cover that though, but
- 50:54Speaker 2: I mean I'm also excited about the Valley. See, so
- 50:56Speaker 2: we're going to just pitch that to you. Let us
