- 1:00Speaker 1: since Joe Burrows pregame workout. The highlight of Friday's preseason
- 1:13Speaker 1: opener actually happened two and a half hours before kickoff,
- 1:17Speaker 1: when the Bengals quarterback took the field with no compression
- 1:20Speaker 1: sleeve on his right calf and worked out for roughly
- 1:23Speaker 1: thirty minutes. Joe threw passes to members of the coaching
- 1:27Speaker 1: staff and even did some light running. It's certainly a
- 1:30Speaker 1: cause for optimism that Joe will be ready for the
- 1:34Speaker 1: season opener in Cleveland. We'll have more on his pregame
- 1:37Speaker 1: workout when I talked to Dave Lapham later in the podcast.
- 1:41Speaker 1: All right, time to review the preseason opener against the Packers.
- 1:45Speaker 1: By now, you know that Zach Taylor is not going
- 1:48Speaker 1: to play his starters very much, if at all, in
- 1:50Speaker 1: the preseason. The one exception on Friday night was Dax Hill,
- 1:54Speaker 1: who needs snaps as he moves into a starting role
- 1:57Speaker 1: at safety. The Packers, on the other hand, had their
- 2:01Speaker 1: starting offense on the field for two drives for an
- 2:04Speaker 1: obvious reason after having two starting quarterbacks over the last
- 2:08Speaker 1: thirty one years in Brett Favan Aaron Rodgers. This is
- 2:11Speaker 1: the summer of Love in Green Bay, and Jordan Love,
- 2:14Speaker 1: who has barely played in three NFL seasons, put the
- 2:18Speaker 1: Packers on the scoreboard. First second and goal from the nine.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Love hands it no fakes to Dylan sets up in
- 2:24Speaker 1: the pocket, cloats it into the end zone and Dubbs
- 2:28Speaker 1: comes down with a touchdown catch for the green Bay Packers.
- 2:32Speaker 1: He boxed out Sidney Jones the fourth and Romeo Dubbs,
- 2:36Speaker 1: who's six ' two two to oh four, pulled down
- 2:39Speaker 1: the TD throw.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Six two two oh four and you have a matchup
- 2:43Speaker 2: against Jones at six feet point eighty one.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Love was replaced by rookie Seawan Clifford, a graduate of
- 2:49Speaker 1: Saint Xavier High School in Cincinnati, and a pass interference
- 2:53Speaker 1: call at the goal line on Bengals cornerback Allen George
- 2:56Speaker 1: helped Green Bay take a fourteen to three lead early
- 2:59Speaker 1: in the second quarter, but it didn't last after a
- 3:03Speaker 1: fifty one yard field goal by Evan McPherson made it
- 3:05Speaker 1: fourteen to six. Moneymack made all four of his field
- 3:09Speaker 1: goal attempts. By the way, the Bengals scored their first
- 3:12Speaker 1: touchdown of the preseason. Clifford ready catches the shotgun snap
- 3:16Speaker 1: against a four.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Man rushing on the run. See it's going to a
- 3:20Speaker 3: pet sex as Tyson Anderson picks it off hand sprints
- 3:25Speaker 3: to the end zone for the Bengals touchdown.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Oh Man Walker of the offensive lineman just went up
- 3:32Speaker 2: to console Clifford, who is obviously very disappointed in the
- 3:37Speaker 2: outcome of that play. I mean, Tyson Anderson, it can't
- 3:42Speaker 2: be any easier than that. That ball was just gift
- 3:44Speaker 2: wrap to him. Clifford gets rid of the ball, He's
- 3:47Speaker 2: under pressure and jumping the route as Tyson Anderson and boy,
- 3:51Speaker 2: I'll tell you the pressure that came was up the middle.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Dominique Davis came with an inside rush, beat the guard
- 3:57Speaker 2: and tattooed Clifford up in his chest right as he
- 4:01Speaker 2: was releasing the football. Took some juice off that Tyson
- 4:04Speaker 2: Anderson undercut it and said see you later.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Later in the half, Tyson Anderson had another interception as
- 4:10Speaker 1: he ripped the ball away from six five, two hundred
- 4:13Speaker 1: and fifty nine pound tight end Tucker Kraft. It was
- 4:17Speaker 1: quite a night for the speedy safety out of the
- 4:19Speaker 1: University of Toledo, who missed his rookie year with a
- 4:21Speaker 1: hamstring injury. Dave Lapham talked to him after the game.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Two interceptions in the first half, one of them picked six.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Take us through what you saw.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Out there, Coach lou caught a great call and we
- 4:36Speaker 4: disguised the real well and the quarterback just never seen
- 4:38Speaker 4: me and helped one of our teammates. I was just
- 4:40Speaker 4: helping him recover and just made a great player finished through.
- 4:44Speaker 2: You jumped that route pretty darn strong, and Dominic Davis
- 4:47Speaker 2: had a pretty good rush. I'm not sure if you
- 4:50Speaker 2: saw the replay on it or not, but he pretty
- 4:53Speaker 2: good hit right in the quarterback's chest and you jumped
- 4:56Speaker 2: that thing, and it was when you intercepted it all
- 4:59Speaker 2: your I was green, I guess, huh yeah.
- 5:01Speaker 4: All I said was the end zone. Really, the quarterback
- 5:03Speaker 4: wasn't really chasing me, so I just kind of ran
- 5:06Speaker 4: to the left as far as I could knew nobody
- 5:08Speaker 4: was catching me once I got the ball.
- 5:10Speaker 2: What about the second interception? What'd you see there?
- 5:13Speaker 4: We just again, Coach Lou keep calling great calls. We
- 5:18Speaker 4: were in a cover cover three zone. He ran a
- 5:21Speaker 4: little stick route right on the sticks and seeing the
- 5:23Speaker 4: quarterback throw, broke on it and it was just a
- 5:25Speaker 4: competition for the ball and I came down with it.
- 5:28Speaker 2: So in the secondary, you guys have so much speed
- 5:32Speaker 2: you can run I mean, safety's corners. Everybody runs like
- 5:35Speaker 2: sub four four it seems like, I mean, and also
- 5:38Speaker 2: teams speed and smarts. It seems like you can run
- 5:42Speaker 2: and everybody's intelligent. Back there. That's a pretty pretty good one.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Two punched. You guys are gonna have a good year
- 5:47Speaker 2: back there.
- 5:47Speaker 4: No, Yeah, for sure. We just got to continue to
- 5:49Speaker 4: just stack days and sky's the limit for this group.
- 5:51Speaker 4: Just continue to communicate and just do our our five
- 5:54Speaker 4: things that we pride ourselves on doing. Just being playmakers,
- 5:57Speaker 4: finishing the ball, having a lot of effort flying around,
- 6:00Speaker 4: communicating a plant smart.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Lou Anroumo, what's it like playing for a guy? Uh?
- 6:05Speaker 2: That good? As a defensive coordinator? I mean, you feel
- 6:09Speaker 2: the trust between you guys, trust him, he trusts you.
- 6:12Speaker 2: It's gotta be a pretty good feeling.
- 6:14Speaker 4: No, Yah's for sure, trust level on both sides, both sides.
- 6:16Speaker 4: He trusts us to do what we gotta do, and
- 6:18Speaker 4: we trust him to put us in great positions, and
- 6:20Speaker 4: he always does and we reap the benefits of him
- 6:22Speaker 4: putting us in great positions.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Two interceptions in a half. Ever done that before at
- 6:28Speaker 2: any level?
- 6:28Speaker 1: Uh?
- 6:29Speaker 4: No, first time?
- 6:30Speaker 2: First time you got you can? You got both the footballs.
- 6:33Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I gave him to the equipment guy, So
- 6:35Speaker 4: I'm sorry they goll be giving them to me here soon.
- 6:38Speaker 2: So you keep them one one going to somebody else
- 6:40Speaker 2: in your family. You keeping them both.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Uh, now I'm gonna keep one one go go to
- 6:43Speaker 4: my parents back home.
- 6:44Speaker 2: There you go. That's a good son right there. Appreciate you, Tys,
- 6:47Speaker 2: I appreciate you.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Anderson's second I int came with one oh four left
- 6:52Speaker 1: in the half and the Bengals leading sixteen fourteen. They
- 6:56Speaker 1: were in field goal range, but Jake Browning threw a
- 6:59Speaker 1: pass that was two for Shdick Jackson, and he tipped
- 7:02Speaker 1: it into the hands of Green Bay rookie Carrington Valentine
- 7:05Speaker 1: out of Cincinnati s. Moeller High School. Twenty five seconds later,
- 7:09Speaker 1: the Packers took the lead for good. Twenty five seconds
- 7:12Speaker 1: left in the half. Clifford and the gun back at
- 7:15Speaker 1: the tent quick pass over the middle touchdown. Green Bay
- 7:21Speaker 1: Tyler Davis, one of five tight ends on the roster,
- 7:25Speaker 1: makes the catch for the Packers touchdown. The Packers' offense
- 7:29Speaker 1: wound up scoring five touchdowns, including an eighty yard run
- 7:33Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter by undrafted rookie Emmanuel Wilson. The
- 7:37Speaker 1: Bengals offense didn't score any tds, but there were some
- 7:41Speaker 1: bright spots, including a four catch debut for six round
- 7:45Speaker 1: draft pick Andre Yosi Vash. Here comes a blitz, Simeon
- 7:48Speaker 1: gets rid of.
- 7:49Speaker 3: It, pits Yosi Vosh get on a crossing route, breaks
- 7:52Speaker 3: the tackle running toward the Green Bay sideline and out
- 7:56Speaker 3: of bounds at Packers territory at the forty eight yard line.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Fifty party flagged down the offense to backfield.
- 8:03Speaker 2: It's going to be rough from the quarterback.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Yosi Vosh just missed the touchdown as he hauled in
- 8:07Speaker 1: a twenty five yard pass in the end zone and
- 8:09Speaker 1: got his right foot down, but the tip of his
- 8:12Speaker 1: left foot landed on the sideline. I spoke to him
- 8:16Speaker 1: after the game, Andre four catches fifty yards in your
- 8:21Speaker 1: NFL preseason debut, and if your feet were a little
- 8:24Speaker 1: bit smaller, you might have had a touchdown catch.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:27Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I just got to hold the space
- 8:28Speaker 5: there on that one. But you know, everything is a
- 8:30Speaker 5: work in progress, so I'm just happy I got to
- 8:32Speaker 5: be out there. I'm just making place.
- 8:34Speaker 1: What stood out to you about your first taste of
- 8:36Speaker 1: real NFL action.
- 8:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean it's really fast. You know, practice was fast,
- 8:41Speaker 5: but the game is a lot faster and I mean,
- 8:43Speaker 5: I just got to you had to all slow down
- 8:45Speaker 5: and just let the game come to me instead.
- 8:47Speaker 6: Of trying to rush these enforcements.
- 8:48Speaker 5: So with all coming with time. So I think this
- 8:50Speaker 5: is a really good experience.
- 8:51Speaker 1: For mere Chatting with Andrea Yosi Vosh, you were targeted
- 8:54Speaker 1: ten times? Did you find that out a good surprising
- 8:58Speaker 1: that they can do that much?
- 9:00Speaker 5: Not really, you know, I mean, if it's a one
- 9:01Speaker 5: on one matchup, I feel like those guys trust me
- 9:04Speaker 5: to make plays and things like that, So it wasn't
- 9:07Speaker 5: really surprise, and I was glad that they think were
- 9:09Speaker 5: the ball that anytime it shows shows a good traits.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Let's go back to the near touchdown catch. Have you
- 9:15Speaker 1: seen a replay? How would you describe your attempt to
- 9:19Speaker 1: get both feet down inbounds.
- 9:20Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean it was pretty tight, I think, Yeah,
- 9:24Speaker 5: I mean I think my second foot landed, Priory could
- 9:26Speaker 5: be right on the line by as close as the
- 9:28Speaker 5: line as you can. But you know, I'll make that
- 9:31Speaker 5: play next time it comes around.
- 9:33Speaker 1: This is a big moment for any rookie. I think
- 9:35Speaker 1: twenty Bengals rookies saw their first taste of NFL action.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Was it but thrill even though it's a preseason game.
- 9:42Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, you just want to go out there
- 9:43Speaker 5: and execute. It was definitely exciting that the stadium was
- 9:46Speaker 5: really packed. The fans were allowed, so there's a fun
- 9:48Speaker 5: environment to be in and you know, get to get
- 9:50Speaker 5: the work and.
- 9:51Speaker 1: You get to do it another week in Atlanta.
- 9:52Speaker 5: Yup, can't wait. I'm super excited, so onto.
- 9:55Speaker 1: The next you rats on a good first performance.
- 9:57Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Another Bengals rookie right back Chase Brown, got the ball
- 10:01Speaker 1: eleven times and showed off his speed. Simy In catches
- 10:05Speaker 1: the shotgun snap against the four man rush, bouncing in
- 10:08Speaker 1: the pocket, dumps it off check down to Chase Brown.
- 10:11Speaker 3: Look at him go as he hits the accelerator, runs
- 10:14Speaker 3: inside the twenty, and the rookie out of Illinois gets
- 10:18Speaker 3: tackled at the eighteen twenty one yards on the checkdown
- 10:23Speaker 3: to Chase Brown and.
- 10:24Speaker 1: The Bengals enter the paramount plus red zone. Brown finished
- 10:28Speaker 1: with twelve yards rushing in thirty three yards receiving. It
- 10:33Speaker 1: feels like your heart is still racing from the excitement
- 10:36Speaker 1: of being out there.
- 10:37Speaker 6: Is that the case, Yeah.
- 10:38Speaker 2: A little bit.
- 10:38Speaker 6: I mean it's my first NFL game and I just
- 10:43Speaker 6: i just think back on it right now, like, man,
- 10:44Speaker 6: my god, I could have been better. So that's just
- 10:46Speaker 6: my mindset phoner this week, and you know that's gonna
- 10:50Speaker 6: be mine. My theme is just no being better this week.
- 10:52Speaker 6: And you know, rolling into Atlanta, you.
- 10:54Speaker 7: Know, okay, this more.
- 10:59Speaker 6: Prepared more Not that I wasn't prepared this night, but
- 11:02Speaker 6: you know, there's just it's like your first game. Now
- 11:04Speaker 6: you get the shakes a little bit, and you know,
- 11:07Speaker 6: now I got that first game under my belt, so
- 11:09Speaker 6: just you know, building confidence or not and going in
- 11:12Speaker 6: the next week better.
- 11:13Speaker 1: People don't remember scores from preseason games, stabs from preseason games,
- 11:17Speaker 1: but when it's your first, it's something you'll never forget, right, no.
- 11:21Speaker 2: No, no, no no no.
- 11:22Speaker 6: But I mean these these are important for everybody that
- 11:25Speaker 6: had the opportunity to play tonight, and you know, just
- 11:28Speaker 6: being able to to to be better to go into
- 11:32Speaker 6: next week into these practices is what's most important.
- 11:35Speaker 1: It sounds like you wish the Atlanta.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Game is tomorrow night.
- 11:37Speaker 6: Man if it was, I'd be excited, But I mean
- 11:39Speaker 6: it just we just have some time to flush the film,
- 11:43Speaker 6: you know, learn from our mistakes and just you know,
- 11:45Speaker 6: be better as a as a group to come.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Up with the Winns have the twenty one yard gain
- 11:51Speaker 1: on the screen feel or check down feel, Yeah.
- 11:54Speaker 6: I mean that's gonna just do my job. It's pretty
- 11:57Speaker 6: wide open, just gonna make one person miss. I'm just
- 12:00Speaker 6: barely just doing my job.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Man, he made a miss badly. That seemed like he
- 12:04Speaker 1: didn't quite realize how much speed number thirty had for six.
- 12:06Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, I'm coming with I'm coming with power.
- 12:08Speaker 6: I'm coming with speed, and it's just you know, I
- 12:12Speaker 6: knew I had to play to make there. So it's
- 12:14Speaker 6: just like I said the day, I'm just doing my job.
- 12:17Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 12:19Speaker 1: The Bengals Booth podcast is brought to you by Kettering Health,

- 12:28Speaker 1: Kettering Health is committed to guiding you to your best health.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Visit ketteringhealth dot org to learn more. Again. The final
- 12:35Speaker 1: score was thirty six to nineteen green Bay. The Bengals
- 12:39Speaker 1: falled to three and eight in preseason games under Zach Taylor,
- 12:43Speaker 1: who prioritizes keeping his starters healthy over getting them snaps
- 12:47Speaker 1: and games that don't count. He spent a couple of
- 12:50Speaker 1: minutes with Lap after the game.
- 12:53Speaker 2: In every single football game, there's gonna be guys that
- 12:56Speaker 2: put forth good performances. I mean, Tyson Anderson two interceptions
- 12:59Speaker 2: and a half, pretty good, pretty good performance right there.
- 13:03Speaker 2: One of the guys jump out at you. I know
- 13:05Speaker 2: you haven't had time to you anything, take a look
- 13:07Speaker 2: at anything. Dominique Davis to me, I mean he had
- 13:10Speaker 2: a good pass rush on Tyson's interception. He comes up
- 13:13Speaker 2: with a funbell recovery after a hit on another sacks,
- 13:15Speaker 2: I mean sack you had. You had some guys that
- 13:17Speaker 2: stepped up and made some places.
- 13:19Speaker 8: Yeah, some guys flash like that. You know you'll you'll
- 13:21Speaker 8: have a chance to consume the whole tape to see
- 13:22Speaker 8: how the whole performance looked. But I did think Dominic
- 13:25Speaker 8: Davis showed up and made some key plays for us.
- 13:28Speaker 8: Tyson obviously, those are two really good interceptions. One of
- 13:32Speaker 8: them is in contested play he took away. The other
- 13:34Speaker 8: one he jumps to play and scores. So h those
- 13:36Speaker 8: should be big momentum changers for us, and we didn't
- 13:39Speaker 8: do enough to capitalize on him.
- 13:41Speaker 2: What's it like when a coach like yourself and sh Walters.
- 13:46Speaker 2: You see that all right? You want yo see Vosh,
- 13:49Speaker 2: who's a real good talent to get his hands extended,
- 13:52Speaker 2: to use that big body a little bit more instead
- 13:54Speaker 2: of letting the ball come to his body. And he's
- 13:56Speaker 2: done a really good job of that and it translated
- 13:58Speaker 2: in the game. He came close on a couple of
- 14:00Speaker 2: real big plays and contested catches, but he had the extension.
- 14:04Speaker 2: I thought he played really well and he gave a
- 14:06Speaker 2: lot of effort.
- 14:06Speaker 8: I saw some good things from him, you know. The
- 14:08Speaker 8: quarterbacks found a way to target him, and he made
- 14:10Speaker 8: some big plays, good catch up to the run, almost
- 14:13Speaker 8: had a good touchdown. You don't want to contest down
- 14:15Speaker 8: there on the go round the end zone. So those
- 14:16Speaker 8: were good things to see from under.
- 14:18Speaker 2: So red zone. Obviously, they scored in the red zone
- 14:22Speaker 2: with regularity. The red zone only got there I think
- 14:25Speaker 2: once and settled for a field goal. That had to
- 14:29Speaker 2: be disappointing a little bit.
- 14:30Speaker 8: Yeah, we had penalties that knocks us back. I didn't
- 14:32Speaker 8: think overall we were disappoint enough as a team. You know,
- 14:35Speaker 8: really you look at the first punt return we had.
- 14:38Speaker 8: We had a great return to the twenty five yard line,
- 14:40Speaker 8: we get a clip, so then we lose the field position.
- 14:43Speaker 8: We then punt to him, we give them a we
- 14:46Speaker 8: getting off side and give him a free first down.
- 14:47Speaker 8: They score a touchdown a couple of plays later. So
- 14:49Speaker 8: I just didn't think we were disciplined enough overall.
- 14:52Speaker 2: So what what did you take out of this football game?
- 14:55Speaker 2: I mean, did you see guys when they had a
- 14:58Speaker 2: bad play or some thing that went wrong. Were they
- 15:01Speaker 2: able to compartmentalize and move on? And that's what you
- 15:04Speaker 2: have to do in the NFL. There's going to be
- 15:06Speaker 2: some ups and downs in the NFL. That's just life
- 15:08Speaker 2: in the National Football League, and young guys have to learn,
- 15:11Speaker 2: you know, forget about that and let's go get something done.
- 15:14Speaker 8: I think the simplest thing is just the discipline. You know,
- 15:16Speaker 8: if we can eliminate the turnovers that put us in
- 15:18Speaker 8: really bad positions, and again, just simple things. Just be
- 15:23Speaker 8: where you're supposed to be. You know, I'm really in
- 15:25Speaker 8: all three phases, and those are things that we can
- 15:27Speaker 8: easily correct going to the next game. We're gonna really
- 15:29Speaker 8: emphasize them next week and be much better against seth Ana.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Did you see a lot of times with young guys,
- 15:35Speaker 2: it's trying too hard. I mean, you know, it's like
- 15:38Speaker 2: I want to try to go make a play. I'm
- 15:41Speaker 2: going to leave the crop that I'm supposed to harvest
- 15:43Speaker 2: and go try to get a little piece of this
- 15:44Speaker 2: crop over here. Did you see any of that?
- 15:46Speaker 8: We'll have to say, you know, that'll be better for
- 15:48Speaker 8: me to answer. I have to watch the tape up next.
- 15:51Speaker 1: A road game in Atlanta next Friday night. The Falcons
- 15:54Speaker 1: opened the preseason with a nineteen to three win over Miami.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Starting quarterback Desmond Ritter did not play for Atlanta. Former
- 16:02Speaker 1: Bengals draft pick Logan Woodside went the distance at QB.

- 16:28Speaker 1: or the stats of preseason games. For the guys who
- 16:31Speaker 1: played in their first NFL game tonight, it's a memory
- 16:34Speaker 1: that they'll have forever.
- 16:35Speaker 2: No question. And you know some young players not their
- 16:39Speaker 2: first game, but Tyson Anderson, for example, with two fumble
- 16:43Speaker 2: recoveries to your picks, excuse me, two interceptions in a
- 16:48Speaker 2: half of a football game. I asked him if it
- 16:50Speaker 2: never happened to him at any level. He was new.
- 16:53Speaker 2: He made his soling, not even any game, but definitely
- 16:56Speaker 2: note and a half, and he's keeping one of the
- 16:58Speaker 2: footballs and he's given the other one to his parents,
- 17:00Speaker 2: so he's a happy young man. Dominique Davis involved a
- 17:05Speaker 2: couple of the turnovers as well. I mean, those are
- 17:08Speaker 2: things that those guys will remember because you know, they
- 17:11Speaker 2: haven't had much playing time in the National Football League
- 17:14Speaker 2: at this stage. Josie Vash worked his tailoff. I mean,
- 17:20Speaker 2: I don't know, I'd have to check the GPS, but
- 17:23Speaker 2: special teams and running rouse. This dude ran all night long.
- 17:29Speaker 2: He may have to have a recovery day.
- 17:31Speaker 1: He needs a smaller foot. If he had a slightly
- 17:34Speaker 1: smaller foot or smaller shoe, he would have had a
- 17:37Speaker 1: touchdown catch.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Yeah, that was pretty good play. I mean the way
- 17:40Speaker 2: he twisted his body and just barely you know, missed
- 17:44Speaker 2: out on that touchdown. I would have been good for
- 17:45Speaker 2: him to get that, to get rewarded for that but
- 17:48Speaker 2: I think the thing that you got to like about
- 17:50Speaker 2: a guy like him is he takes coaching so well.
- 17:52Speaker 2: I mean, he was having some issues at getting extension
- 17:56Speaker 2: using the big body that he has his advantage, and
- 17:58Speaker 2: getting his arms extended catching the football. He was letting
- 18:01Speaker 2: the ball come to his body more. And the coach
- 18:05Speaker 2: has said, look, you know only has six foot three
- 18:07Speaker 2: with some range and length used it, and he's used it.
- 18:11Speaker 2: You don't have to tell intelligent guy like him something
- 18:14Speaker 2: more than once. And he's coachable, and he's extremely athletic.
- 18:19Speaker 2: There's no question about that.
- 18:21Speaker 1: DJ Turner has received a lot of attention this training camp.
- 18:25Speaker 1: I thought he played well. Four tackles, including two tackles
- 18:28Speaker 1: for loss. You mentioned Yosi Vash He had four catches.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Chase Brown handled the ball eleven times. He had a
- 18:34Speaker 1: twenty one yard catch on a check down. This rookie
- 18:37Speaker 1: rookie class showed pretty well in their first taste of
- 18:40Speaker 1: NFL preseason action.
- 18:41Speaker 2: They did they showed they belonged, you know, no question
- 18:44Speaker 2: about that. The game boiled down to third down. Green
- 18:49Speaker 2: Bay was better. Red zone. Green Bay was dramatically better.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Four touchdowns in the red zone. The Bengals getting the
- 18:56Speaker 2: red zone once and you know, settle for a field goals,
- 19:00Speaker 2: so you can't lose the red zone battle that significantly
- 19:05Speaker 2: and expect to win a football game. And really the
- 19:09Speaker 2: touchdown was on a on a defensive score, so it's
- 19:12Speaker 2: you know, gonna there's miles to go before they rust.
- 19:15Speaker 2: There's a lot of work that needs to be done.
- 19:16Speaker 2: But it's never as bad as you think it is,
- 19:20Speaker 2: and it's never as good as you think it is,
- 19:22Speaker 2: particularly preseason game number one. I mean, you look and
- 19:25Speaker 2: look at the tape, and if you didn't look at
- 19:29Speaker 2: it in sequence, you know I'd be this. This was
- 19:32Speaker 2: a competitive environment, but too many penalties, lack of red
- 19:37Speaker 2: zone execution, third down inefficiency, all that all that added
- 19:42Speaker 2: up to to losing a football game.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Neither quarterback played particularly well. I thought Browning was better
- 19:48Speaker 1: than Simon, but the protection was better for Browning, So
- 19:51Speaker 1: it's really hard to knock Simeon when he was dealing
- 19:55Speaker 1: with free runners and pressure that was not quite as
- 19:57Speaker 1: bad for Jake Browning.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree, and all that has to be taken
- 20:01Speaker 2: into account. Simeon when he wasn't spinning away from he
- 20:06Speaker 2: was getting rid of the football just before you know
- 20:09Speaker 2: contact was coming and you know that's the Green Bay Packers.
- 20:14Speaker 2: They ended up figuring things out free Runner. I don't
- 20:19Speaker 2: know it was because they were a man short and
- 20:20Speaker 2: protection because they had such a limited game plan going
- 20:24Speaker 2: into the game. There really wasn't a game plan. It
- 20:26Speaker 2: was keep it simple so players could be confident and
- 20:29Speaker 2: play real fast. Well in some cases that may have
- 20:32Speaker 2: let them down not having enough blockers or maybe you know,
- 20:36Speaker 2: there was a call that wasn't made properly at the
- 20:38Speaker 2: line of scrimmage to pick up that free runner. So
- 20:42Speaker 2: all that has to be sorted out and worked through,
- 20:44Speaker 2: and it's going to get going to get dramatically better,
- 20:47Speaker 2: there's no doubt.
- 20:48Speaker 1: So the real story of this game was what happened
- 20:51Speaker 1: before the game. Yea much earlier before the game, as
- 20:55Speaker 1: Joe Burrow came out onto the field for a pretty
- 20:57Speaker 1: rigorous pregame workout. He threw pass to members of the
- 21:01Speaker 1: coaching staff. He ran, although I wouldn't describe it as sprinting,
- 21:04Speaker 1: but it wasn't a jog. He was running pretty aggressively.
- 21:07Speaker 1: I saw him exit the stadium with Sam Hubbard. Seemed
- 21:10Speaker 1: to be in good spirits. So if you could have
- 21:13Speaker 1: one thing happened today, of anything, it wouldn't be a
- 21:17Speaker 1: dominant win over the Green Bay Packers. It would be
- 21:20Speaker 1: a sign that Joe Burrow is going to be AOKA
- 21:22Speaker 1: in time for the season opener against the Cleveland Browns.
- 21:25Speaker 1: And this was a positive step forward.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Yeah, the fact that he didn't have anything on that calf.
- 21:30Speaker 2: You know, there was no sleeve, there was no compression sock,
- 21:33Speaker 2: there was none of that kind of thing. So you
- 21:35Speaker 2: could see that bruising was reabsorbed. I mean it had
- 21:40Speaker 2: pretty much gone away, and that's what's allowed him to
- 21:43Speaker 2: do the things that he was doing out there. I
- 21:47Speaker 2: think the Wednesday practice that he attended it was probably
- 21:50Speaker 2: an impetus. I think it was like, oh man, I
- 21:53Speaker 2: get to get out and start doing something. This has
- 21:54Speaker 2: driving me crazy.
- 21:55Speaker 1: As long as the doctors and trainers said it's okay.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Exactly, and they were all out there, the trainers were,
- 22:01Speaker 2: you know, making sure that he didn't do too much.
- 22:05Speaker 2: But it would not surprise me if next week he throws,
- 22:09Speaker 2: and he throws more than one day. I'm not saying
- 22:12Speaker 2: necessarily Monday or Sunday.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Now when you say throws with linemen and receivers or
- 22:20Speaker 1: just off to the side, throwing the receivers.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Off to the side. I don't think he's gonna do anything,
- 22:25Speaker 2: you know, in terms of out on the football field
- 22:28Speaker 2: helmet and shoulder pads kind of thing. But I think
- 22:30Speaker 2: now that he has started to throw, I think he's
- 22:33Speaker 2: going to ramp it up. You know, he's going to
- 22:34Speaker 2: continue to throw. And it wouldn't surprise me that he
- 22:38Speaker 2: goes into some sort of a routine where every single
- 22:42Speaker 2: day if there's no setbacks, you know, like, what if
- 22:46Speaker 2: there's a setback tomorrow morning he wakes up, It's like, man,
- 22:50Speaker 2: maybe I did a little too much. If he ever
- 22:52Speaker 2: feels that he has to shut it down, back off
- 22:55Speaker 2: and shut it down because you do not want to
- 22:58Speaker 2: re exacerbate injury it because it's always worse that second
- 23:02Speaker 2: time goes. It goes to a point where it was
- 23:05Speaker 2: worse than when you first heard it. That seems to
- 23:07Speaker 2: be the way those calf issues are. I mean, they
- 23:10Speaker 2: can be lingering, so but he continues to wrap it up.
- 23:14Speaker 2: I mean love to see him. He's not going to
- 23:17Speaker 2: play in any preseason games. I don't think he was
- 23:18Speaker 2: gonna anyway. That's not going to happen. But what if
- 23:22Speaker 2: he was able to practice before the last preseason game
- 23:25Speaker 2: for a day or two, and then when they come back,
- 23:29Speaker 2: they don't have a game, they have a week off,
- 23:30Speaker 2: but that any work that they do, the workdays that
- 23:33Speaker 2: they do, he's out there doing as much as he
- 23:35Speaker 2: possibly can on those work days, and then the following
- 23:38Speaker 2: week goes to a regular week of practice and gets
- 23:40Speaker 2: ready for the Cleveland Browns. I could see that as
- 23:43Speaker 2: a possibility.
- 23:45Speaker 1: I think that's the best case scenario. This happened two
- 23:47Speaker 1: weeks ago, fifteen days ago. If he's out for two
- 23:50Speaker 1: more weeks, which would be four weeks since the injury,
- 23:54Speaker 1: that would still give him two weeks before the season
- 23:57Speaker 1: open or the season opener's thirty days away.
- 23:59Speaker 2: And watching him throw today, I mean, he's he's able
- 24:03Speaker 2: to He's able to put some torque on the football,
- 24:05Speaker 2: you know, so in the and the thing is he
- 24:08Speaker 2: has kept up with all the mental rep stuff, and
- 24:11Speaker 2: like we talked about before, he did get a ton
- 24:14Speaker 2: of reps in in July, you know, and and uh
- 24:17Speaker 2: so losing just a little bit of time that he lost.
- 24:21Speaker 2: It's not ideal, but it's not you know, something that's
- 24:24Speaker 2: going to like cost him. You know he's not going
- 24:28Speaker 2: to be the same guy going out there and playing quarterback.
- 24:31Speaker 2: I can see though a school of thought too, where
- 24:34Speaker 2: you know, it's like, okay, depending on how all of
- 24:36Speaker 2: this goes. I mean, if there's if he keeps progressing,
- 24:40Speaker 2: doing more and not having any setbacks playing, we're talking
- 24:44Speaker 2: about fine. If there's any minor thing, shut it down,
- 24:49Speaker 2: miss week one. You know, don't, don't push it. But
- 24:52Speaker 2: the way he look today is extremely encouraging, and you
- 24:56Speaker 2: think that Jayz, you know, maybe you can you can
- 24:59Speaker 2: add to that workload. He's young, he's in great shape,
- 25:02Speaker 2: He's a quick healer. He's shown that before. Hopefully, hopefully
- 25:08Speaker 2: now he's on a track where he'll be able to
- 25:12Speaker 2: go against the Cleveland Browns because we need all hands
- 25:15Speaker 2: on deck, particularly that hand, need that most important major
- 25:19Speaker 2: hand on deck up there in Cleveland.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Like we said, he wasn't sprinting before the game tonight,
- 25:25Speaker 1: but he was running. I would describe it as running
- 25:28Speaker 1: that shocks me. I did not expect that to happen
- 25:31Speaker 1: fifteen days after that injury.
- 25:33Speaker 2: I agree. Now the final thing is the explosion. You
- 25:38Speaker 2: know you're in the pocket and you have to push
- 25:40Speaker 2: off that foot, you know, on that foot attached to
- 25:44Speaker 2: that calf and really push off and it is his
- 25:46Speaker 2: right calf. So when he has to say he has
- 25:49Speaker 2: to get out of pocket and plant that foot and
- 25:52Speaker 2: torque his body and throw down the football field. All
- 25:54Speaker 2: of those kind of things that that is a much
- 25:57Speaker 2: different dynamic than even sprinting. Just run in a sprint
- 26:00Speaker 2: across the football field. Those kind of things where your
- 26:04Speaker 2: body has to has to adjust and still be able
- 26:07Speaker 2: to be real strong when you're exploding and being sudden,
- 26:12Speaker 2: you know in your movements. That's the final test.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Thanks for looking up.
- 26:18Speaker 2: I'm telling you I'd give him an a plus on
- 26:21Speaker 2: his first test.
- 26:22Speaker 6: He looked good.
- 26:23Speaker 4: He looked really good.

- 26:42Speaker 1: for our first edition of fantastic fun Facts this year
- 26:46Speaker 1: where you get to know the person under the pads.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Time for some fun facts with quarterback Reed Senate from Johnston, Iowa,
- 26:55Speaker 1: not too far from des Moines population roughly twenty four
- 26:59Speaker 1: thousand or so. I'm from a small town in New
- 27:02Speaker 1: York State. Our claim to fame is that luci Olle
- 27:04Speaker 1: Ball is from there. Does Johnston, Iowa have any sort
- 27:08Speaker 1: of claim to fame?
- 27:10Speaker 7: Ooh, we have a nfler named Quinn Satanowski who was
- 27:15Speaker 7: a long snapper on a tight end for the Baltimore
- 27:17Speaker 7: Ravens for probably two or three years. We have a
- 27:21Speaker 7: hybrid seed company that was known as Pioneer when I
- 27:23Speaker 7: was there, So, you know, a lot of the really,
- 27:25Speaker 7: really good corn was getting grown in the town that
- 27:28Speaker 7: I'm from. So other than that, though, I don't know
- 27:30Speaker 7: that there's a lot of excitement in Johnston, Iowa.
- 27:32Speaker 1: All right, Well, we've learned some important nuggets about Johnston.
- 27:35Speaker 1: It sounds like you are from a very athletic family.
- 27:38Speaker 1: I read that your dad was walk on basketball player
- 27:40Speaker 1: at Kansas. Your mom has a background as a sports writer.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Were you obsessed with sports growing up?
- 27:46Speaker 7: I was, but I was only obsessed with playing them.
- 27:48Speaker 7: You know, we watched Kansas basketball in North Carolina basketball,
- 27:51Speaker 7: but I wasn't a professional sports fan, So I was
- 27:54Speaker 7: obsessed with playing ball in the yard and coming up
- 27:56Speaker 7: with games and doing it that way. But you know,
- 27:59Speaker 7: watching sports has been something that I found to enjoy
- 28:02Speaker 7: more as I've gotten older. But I'll still try to
- 28:04Speaker 7: get my buddies play foot ball and do things like that,
- 28:06Speaker 7: and they look at me like we're grown men. You know,
- 28:07Speaker 7: we don't need to be doing that.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Well, you are definitely a grown man. You're six four
- 28:11Speaker 1: two twenty five. Were you the biggest most athletic kid
- 28:15Speaker 1: in the neighborhood growing up?
- 28:16Speaker 2: Not at all.
- 28:17Speaker 7: I was a late bloomer, so you know, I was
- 28:19Speaker 7: always taller and maybe bigger than some of the buddies
- 28:21Speaker 7: that I hung out with. But my athletic prime I
- 28:24Speaker 7: don't think probably came till my fourth or fifth year
- 28:26Speaker 7: in college even And you know, I still think I'm
- 28:29Speaker 7: on an upward trajectory, so I still think there's room
- 28:31Speaker 7: for growth on that front.
- 28:32Speaker 1: We're visiting with quarterback reed senate. I read that you
- 28:35Speaker 1: were not the starting quarterback in high school until your
- 28:37Speaker 1: senior year. Now Ben Roethlisberger can say the same thing,
- 28:40Speaker 1: but it is it's an underdog story to make it
- 28:43Speaker 1: to the NFL, and that's the case.
- 28:45Speaker 7: Yeah, I started one year in high school. I was
- 28:47Speaker 7: playing more baseball than I was football at that time.
- 28:49Speaker 7: You know, I was committed to play in other sports.
- 28:51Speaker 7: I wasn't doing camps and things like that, so recruiting
- 28:53Speaker 7: was an uphill battle. And then I only started one
- 28:55Speaker 7: year in college too, at the University of San Diego,
- 28:57Speaker 7: playing behind Anthony Lawrence was a two time conference Player
- 29:00Speaker 7: of the Year and ended up having a good career
- 29:02Speaker 7: over in Japan. But I think it's being able to
- 29:06Speaker 7: take advantage of opportunities when they come, and I think
- 29:08Speaker 7: I've learned how to, you know, be the best at
- 29:10Speaker 7: my role on the team, and I think there's there's
- 29:12Speaker 7: a role for that at this level as well.
- 29:14Speaker 1: What was living in San Diego like after growing up
- 29:16Speaker 1: in Iowa.
- 29:17Speaker 7: I was unbelievable, a little bit of culture shock, but
- 29:19Speaker 7: I grew quickly into my rainbow sandals, and you know,
- 29:23Speaker 7: picked up a surfboard a couple of times. I can't
- 29:25Speaker 7: say that I'm any good, but I lived a couple
- 29:28Speaker 7: of years at the beach and it's really hard to
- 29:30Speaker 7: beat that, I can tell you now.
- 29:32Speaker 1: I read that you were almost an Ivy leaguer before
- 29:35Speaker 1: you chose the University of San Diego.
- 29:37Speaker 7: You did your research. I thought I was going to
- 29:40Speaker 7: go to Penn That was kind of my dream school.
- 29:43Speaker 7: I remember my senior year of high school. Senior first
- 29:46Speaker 7: day of senior year, everybody wore the shirt of what
- 29:48Speaker 7: school they were going to go to, and I wore pinnshirt,
- 29:51Speaker 7: thinking that was going to be home for me. And
- 29:54Speaker 7: the coach there told me to call Tanner instran at
- 29:55Speaker 7: the University of San Diego, and I called him probably
- 29:57Speaker 7: four or five times and he never called me back.
- 30:00Speaker 7: I'll never forget my dad telling me the living room,
- 30:02Speaker 7: like call him one more time, like just call him,
- 30:04Speaker 7: like he doesn't want to talk to me, And he
- 30:05Speaker 7: finally picked up and he's like, come on a visit.
- 30:08Speaker 7: You know, I got a chance to make the team
- 30:10Speaker 7: that fall, and you know a lot of dominoes fell
- 30:13Speaker 7: in my direction since then.
- 30:14Speaker 1: So you finally got to start as your as a
- 30:16Speaker 1: senior as you pointed out, and had a great year.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Did you start to think the NFL was realistic possibility?
- 30:24Speaker 7: H Dale Lindsay, our head coach. After my freshman camp
- 30:27Speaker 7: and Jacques's are they said to me that they thought
- 30:30Speaker 7: I could play in the NFL. And I remember telling
- 30:32Speaker 7: some of my buddies from home that and then giving
- 30:34Speaker 7: me a hard time like you're at the University of
- 30:35Speaker 7: San Diego, man like relax, and those two people, definitely,
- 30:39Speaker 7: you know, gave me some you know, confidence behind the scenes.
- 30:43Speaker 7: That that made me feel like I was working towards something.
- 30:46Speaker 7: And that year I felt like I was going to
- 30:48Speaker 7: be able to show that I was an NFL player.
- 30:50Speaker 7: And my great friend Michael Bandy was the reason that
- 30:54Speaker 7: scouts were coming to watch us, and I think I
- 30:56Speaker 7: gave him a reason to come around a second time.
- 30:58Speaker 1: So after your college career, you signed as a college
- 31:01Speaker 1: free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was Tom
- 31:03Speaker 1: Brady's first year there, so you went through training camp
- 31:06Speaker 1: learning from the goat, being in a quarterback room with
- 31:09Speaker 1: the goat. What was that experience like?
- 31:11Speaker 7: It was amazing. A lot of people ask, you know,
- 31:13Speaker 7: what's he like? And I think he's everything that everybody
- 31:15Speaker 7: thinks he is. He's a fantastic person. He was really
- 31:18Speaker 7: supportive of me and in little moments, you know, gave
- 31:21Speaker 7: me some confidence. Even though I wasn't getting a ton
- 31:23Speaker 7: of reps. He was really valuable for my development. You know.
- 31:27Speaker 7: I was able to ask him questions and we would
- 31:29Speaker 7: sit and eat lunch together, and I would just watch
- 31:30Speaker 7: him watch tape. You know, there wasn't a lot of
- 31:32Speaker 7: discussion in there, but you know, he allowed me to
- 31:35Speaker 7: kind of hover around and see how he went about
- 31:37Speaker 7: his business. And I definitely learned a lot about being
- 31:40Speaker 7: a professional from him.
- 31:41Speaker 1: If you ate lunch with him on a regular basis.
- 31:43Speaker 1: What was he eating?
- 31:44Speaker 2: Ah, it was funny.
- 31:45Speaker 7: He was a big fan of the Sweet Baby Rays
- 31:47Speaker 7: barbecue sauce. And he was joking that the Avacada ice
- 31:51Speaker 7: cream and his diet stuff got blown out of proportion
- 31:53Speaker 7: because he did love that Sweet Baby Rays.
- 31:56Speaker 1: All Right, I feel like we've we've broken news here.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Tom Brady actually ate one thing that wasn't, you know,
- 32:01Speaker 1: incredibly healthy. So you've got three years of NFL experience
- 32:05Speaker 1: under your belt, practice, squad time, time on the roster
- 32:08Speaker 1: as a number three quarterback with the Philadelphia Eagles. How
- 32:12Speaker 1: do you improve under those circumstances Because you're not getting
- 32:16Speaker 1: a ton of reps during practice.
- 32:17Speaker 7: It's challenging, and I think it's part of being able
- 32:20Speaker 7: to take advantage of opportunities when they're presented to you.
- 32:23Speaker 7: Coach Floras when I was in Miami, gave me a
- 32:25Speaker 7: lot of walk through reps and so those were my
- 32:26Speaker 7: super Bowl every day, you know, going against that defense
- 32:29Speaker 7: and trying to make things work and learning how the
- 32:31Speaker 7: defense worked. It made me I learned a ton in that.
- 32:35Speaker 7: You know, Philadelphia was a different organization. I didn't get
- 32:38Speaker 7: as many hands on reps and so you know, felt
- 32:40Speaker 7: like I was doing a lot of learning behind the scenes.
- 32:42Speaker 7: And it's part of the challenge of not being a
- 32:44Speaker 7: starter in the NFL, and it's something that you kind
- 32:47Speaker 7: of have to overcome and take what you can get.
- 32:50Speaker 7: I feel like in the preseason especially, I've been able
- 32:52Speaker 7: to take advantage of the opportunities I get, and that's
- 32:54Speaker 7: going to be I think the story of my career
- 32:56Speaker 7: is am I able to take advantage of those preseason
- 32:58Speaker 7: reps and you know, show thirty two teams that I
- 33:01Speaker 7: can play and keep getting opportunities like this or you know,
- 33:04Speaker 7: figure out how it goes from there.
- 33:06Speaker 1: We're chatting with quarterback Read Senate. So the XFL had
- 33:10Speaker 1: a season this past spring. There were some prominent quarterbacks
- 33:12Speaker 1: in that league, including former Bengal AJ McCarron. Great opportunity
- 33:16Speaker 1: to play in games and you broke your foot YEP
- 33:19Speaker 1: how tough was that.
- 33:20Speaker 7: It was challenging. You know, I think the XFL was
- 33:23Speaker 7: definitely a learning experience for me. You know, getting hurts
- 33:27Speaker 7: always a challenge, but it's something that I had already
- 33:29Speaker 7: had in my other foot, so you know, the injury
- 33:32Speaker 7: wasn't something new to me. I kind of knew what
- 33:35Speaker 7: was going to come with it, but feeling like I
- 33:37Speaker 7: maybe missed out on chances this summer to you know,
- 33:40Speaker 7: show that I could play, learn a new offense. Those
- 33:42Speaker 7: things are things you have to take in stride. And
- 33:45Speaker 7: so now I'm I'm here in the opportunity that I
- 33:48Speaker 7: think could have been the best for me, and so
- 33:50Speaker 7: trying to take it as much as I can.
- 33:54Speaker 1: So when Joe Burrow injured his CAF at the beginning
- 33:56Speaker 1: of training camp, the Bengals had a couple of quarterbacks
- 33:58Speaker 1: try out and show to sign you. And some fans
- 34:02Speaker 1: might have said, that name sounds familiar. Where do I know,
- 34:06Speaker 1: reed Senate? And sure enough, if you go back to
- 34:08Speaker 1: the preseason two years ago, you let him up for
- 34:11Speaker 1: three hundred and forty three yards. He threw a miraculous
- 34:15Speaker 1: roughly forty yard touchdown pass and fourth and fifteen with
- 34:18Speaker 1: less than a minute and a half to go. Are
- 34:20Speaker 1: your teammates aware of that? Has anybody said, hey, I
- 34:23Speaker 1: remember that game?
- 34:25Speaker 7: Yeah a little bit. That was a really fun experience,
- 34:28Speaker 7: and I think, you know, like I was talking about
- 34:30Speaker 7: taking advantage of opportunities, and it's the only game I've
- 34:32Speaker 7: gotten to start at this level. I got in here,
- 34:35Speaker 7: I got signed, and I was kind of finishing stuff
- 34:37Speaker 7: up in the training room, and you know, Joe was
- 34:39Speaker 7: kind of doing some of his rehab and I just said, hey, man,
- 34:41Speaker 7: I'm reading he's like read senate preseason twenty or preseason
- 34:45Speaker 7: game three, twenty twenty one. I remember that, and so
- 34:48Speaker 7: it's funny we've gone back and forth a little bit
- 34:50Speaker 7: about that. You know, I joked with him. I got
- 34:54Speaker 7: home after that game and was, you know, obviously ride
- 34:56Speaker 7: and high. I felt like there wasn't anything else I
- 34:58Speaker 7: could do to make the team. And ESPN turned it
- 35:01Speaker 7: on Sports Center the Hours, turn it over and they
- 35:03Speaker 7: flashed Dolphins Bengals, and I'm like, are they sweet? I
- 35:07Speaker 7: might get to see some highlights And they showed ju
- 35:10Speaker 7: Jamar Chase drops and Joe Burrow throwing a screen for
- 35:13Speaker 7: minus two, and then it flashed the final score whatever Dolphins.
- 35:17Speaker 7: I don't even remember what the final score was, and
- 35:19Speaker 7: then at the bottom it said Joe Burrow won for
- 35:21Speaker 7: three minus two yards, so I can't even get a
- 35:23Speaker 7: stat line. So you know, that brought me back to
- 35:26Speaker 7: reality pretty quick. And you know, I had to joke
- 35:29Speaker 7: with Joe about that, and he's been fantastic. So it's
- 35:32Speaker 7: a it's been a fun quarterback room for sure.
- 35:34Speaker 1: All Right. A couple of wild card topics for quarterback
- 35:37Speaker 1: reed Senate. Who is your childhood athletic hero?
- 35:41Speaker 7: Tyler Hansbrough of the North Carolina basketball team. I felt
- 35:46Speaker 7: like I resonated with the set picks and rebounds and
- 35:49Speaker 7: get you know, offensive rebounds to score baskets. That was
- 35:52Speaker 7: kind of my basketball game. So Tyler Hansbrough was my guy.
- 35:55Speaker 1: If you could meet anybody in history, athlete, entertainer, famous, politician,
- 36:01Speaker 1: whoever it might be, who would that person be?
- 36:04Speaker 6: Hmm.
- 36:06Speaker 7: The first person that came to my head was Abraham Lincoln.
- 36:08Speaker 7: I was, you know, reading some books that are talking
- 36:11Speaker 7: about leadership and things like that, and a lot of
- 36:13Speaker 7: things come back to him and his ability to you know,
- 36:16Speaker 7: be kind of people remember people's names, the way that
- 36:18Speaker 7: he interacted with people and obviously let our country through
- 36:22Speaker 7: a really important time. I think he would be a
- 36:23Speaker 7: really fascinating person to talk talk with. You know, not
- 36:27Speaker 7: to skew your question now, but if I, you know,
- 36:30Speaker 7: could have a golf partner, you know, to play around
- 36:32Speaker 7: a golf with, I think Peyton Manning would be hard
- 36:34Speaker 7: to turn down. I think, you know, you've had a
- 36:37Speaker 7: whole of history. It totally changes the game. But if
- 36:39Speaker 7: I could just play, you know, eighteen rounds or eighteen
- 36:41Speaker 7: holes of golf would be I'd love to ride in
- 36:43Speaker 7: the cart with Peyton Manning.
- 36:44Speaker 1: A conversation with honest Dabe and a round of golf
- 36:47Speaker 1: with Peyton Manning. That's a good combo, read, Senate. Great
- 36:49Speaker 1: to have you in Cincinnati, Best of luck in the preseason.
- 36:52Speaker 7: Thanks for having me. I'm really excited to be here.
