- 1:32three months, but when she could no longer hide him, she got a
- 1:37basket made of Papyrus, Reeds and water proofed it with tar
- 1:41and Pitch. She put the baby in the basket
- 1:44and laid it among the Reeds along the bank of the I'll River
- 1:49the baby sister, then stood at a distance watching to see what
- 1:53would happen to him soon. Pharaoh's daughter, came down to
- 1:57bathe in the river and her attendants walked along the
- 2:00River Bank. When the princess saw the basket
- 2:04among the Reeds, she sent her maid to get it for her.
- 2:07When the princess opened it? She saw the baby.
- 2:12The little boy was crying and she felt sorry for him.
- 2:16This must be one of the Hebrew children.
- 2:18She said then the baby sister approach.
- 2:22The princess should I go and find one of the Hebrew women to
- 2:25nurse the baby for you? She asked.
- 2:28Yes, do that. Princess replied.
- 2:31So, the girl went Some cold baby's mother, take this baby
- 2:36and nurse him. For me, the princess told the
- 2:38baby's mother, I will pay you for your help.
- 2:42So the woman took her baby home and nursed him later, when the
- 2:47boy was older, his mother brought him back to Pharaoh's
- 2:50daughter, who adopted him as her own son.
- 2:55The princess named him, Moses for she explained.
- 2:59I lifted him out of the water. ER, many years later when Moses
- 3:05had grown up, he went out to visit his own people, the
- 3:09Hebrews and he saw how hard they were forced to work during his
- 3:14visit. He saw an Egyptian beating one
- 3:17of his fellow Hebrews after looking in all directions to
- 3:20make sure no one was watching. Moses killed the Egyptian and
- 3:24hid the body in the sand. The next day, when Moses went
- 3:28out to visit his people. Again, he saw two Hebrew men
- 3:32fighting. Why are you beating up your
- 3:35friend? Moses said to the one who had
- 3:37started the fight, the man replied who appointed you to be
- 3:41our Prince and judge. Are you going to kill me as you
- 3:44killed the Egyptian yesterday? Then Moses was afraid thinking,
- 3:49everybody knows what I did. And sure enough the Pharaoh
- 3:54heard what had happened and he tried to kill me.
- 3:57Is that Moses fled from pharaoh and went to live in the land of
- 4:02Midian. When Moses arrived in Midian, he
- 4:06sat down beside a well. Now, the priest of Midian had
- 4:10seven daughters who came as usual to draw water and fill the
- 4:14water troughs for their fathers flocks.
- 4:17But some other Shepherd's came and chased them away.
- 4:20So Moses jumped up and rescue the girls from the shepherd's
- 4:24then he drew water for their flocks.
- 4:27When the girls return to real their father, he asked, why are
- 4:32you back so soon today? And Egyptian rescued us from the
- 4:36shepherd's, they answered, and then he drew water for us and
- 4:41watered our flocks. Then, where is he?
- 4:45Their father asked, why did you leave him there?
- 4:48Invite him to come and eat with us.
- 4:51Moses, accepted the invitation and he's settled there with him
- 4:55in time, Rhea. Well, gave Moses his daughter
- 4:59zipporah to be his wife later, she gave birth to a son and
- 5:04Moses named him gershom for he explained I have been a
- 5:09foreigner in a foreign land Years passed and the king of
- 5:14Egypt died, but the Israelites continued to grown under their
- 5:19burden of slavery. They cried out for help and
- 5:24their cry. Rose up to God.
- 5:27God heard their groaning, and he remembered his Covenant promise
- 5:31to Abraham, Isaac. And Jacob.
- 5:34He looked down on the people of Israel and knew it was time to
- 5:39act. God, so often our lives around
- 5:53us can feel like they are. The total sum of existence in
- 5:58the universe. We get so caught up in the story
- 6:01of our lives. That it's easy enough to forget.
- 6:05That there is a whole nother aspect to reality which is your
- 6:10home. Your dwelling Pace, it is the
- 6:14spiritual realm. And here, we hear this beautiful
- 6:18ending to this chapter. Are you see your people?
- 6:21You hear their cry. And you remember your promise
- 6:26and you are a God who keeps promises Thank you.
- 6:32That this is just an implicit part of your character and you
- 6:36can't help but be a promise keeper.
- 6:40Help us always remember that. And when we feel alone and
- 6:45struggling that we would know that there you are.
- 6:50Ready to keep your promises to us.
- 6:54So we thank you and we thank you that you have kept your promise
- 6:58to us and giving us Jesus and it's in his name that we pray.
- 7:04Amen.
