- 0:06men on the moon Text written by Alison Hawes Many brave people have dared to
- 0:15go into space Twelve of them have even landed on the moon The first mentors
- 0:21set foot on the moon were Armstrong,
- 0:26Collins, Aldrin.
- 0:31Liftoff, in 1969, three Americans, Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins,
- 0:39climbed into this spaceship to prepare for their flight to the moon.
- 0:45Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins were in the command module of the spaceship.
- 0:51When all was ready, the huge rocket below the spaceship fled. They were off.
- 0:59A tricky landing. When they were within reach, Collins stayed in the command
- 1:07module and orbited the moon.
- 1:11While Armstrong and Aldrin took off for the moon in the Lunar Model, a small landing craft.
- 1:21As they got close, the pair noticed instead of heading for the flat part of
- 1:31the moon, they were heading for a huge box.
- 1:34It was very tricky. But they steered around the rocks and landed safely with
- 1:39about thirty seconds of fuel left, going outside.
- 1:44The pair continued their final checks and prepared their equipment inside the lunar module.
- 1:53Then they climbed down the stairs and stood on the moon.
- 1:58Six hundred million people saw the moon landing on TV.
- 2:03Armstrong went first, followed by Aldrin.
- 2:09Aldrin was careful not to close the door completely behind him.
- 2:16He was scared that if he did, they wouldn't get back in. Come, the moon.
- 2:21Once the moon surfaced, Armstrong and Aldrin, collected rocks,
- 2:27spoke to the President of the United States of America, put up the United States of America's work,
- 2:33did experiments, took photos.
- 2:36This is a close-up on the moon's surface.
- 2:40Armstrong took his photo of Aldrin. Look carefully.
- 2:45Can you see Armstrong reflected in Aldrin's helmet?
- 2:50A tricky return. Once they were back in the lunar module, Aldrin noticed the
- 2:58switch from the flight desk was broken.
- 3:01They had to repair it without it. They couldn't get off the moon.
- 3:06I mean, finally, Aldrin flipped the switch using a felt it.
- 3:11Then, they lifted off and joined Collins in the command module.
- 3:18They were going home The command module landed in the sea And the men were ready
- 3:26to be picked up The end and thank you for listening.
