- 0:48Speaker 4: goes down his Lingeran's goal if he is first of
- 0:50Speaker 4: the season. It was a great shot by him as
- 0:52Speaker 4: he waited for the screen going to the front of
- 0:54Speaker 4: the net. I believe it was toven him heading towards
- 0:56Speaker 4: the front. It may have gone off of him. We're
- 0:59Speaker 4: having to look here. It didn't redirect, but it could
- 1:01Speaker 4: have gone off of a shark player pass.

- 2:34Speaker 6: Alconiski with me here from the seats in Anaheim, and
- 2:37Speaker 6: I want to recap this week fellas. But before I
- 2:39Speaker 6: do that, the recapping of this also includes the joys
- 2:42Speaker 6: of going on the road. Vince, we had some good
- 2:45Speaker 6: dinner time last time. I think al Kaniski has some
- 2:48Speaker 6: great time of the happiest place on earth.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Yeah, it was fun.
- 2:51Speaker 3: It was it's you know what, we work hard, but
- 2:54Speaker 3: it's also very nice sometimes when you can find these
- 2:58Speaker 3: holes in the schedule. I know, Alan, Jay and Piper
- 3:00Speaker 3: they went off to Disney yesterday. I found myself over
- 3:04Speaker 3: on Newport Beach watching my line.
- 3:06Speaker 5: You eventually.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, washing my lions revert back to their early
- 3:10Speaker 3: two thousand cells.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Took a nice reflective walk along the beach. It was
- 3:15Speaker 1: it was nice.
- 3:16Speaker 3: It was a good day to just relax and unline
- 3:19Speaker 3: before the craziness of the schedule continues to pick it up.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Yeah, Sunday was a rest day, and my rest day.
- 3:26Speaker 4: I mean I walked over ten miles at the happiest
- 3:29Speaker 4: place on her How many steps did you get in
- 3:31Speaker 4: by the way, it was north of eighteen thousand, and
- 3:34Speaker 4: it sneaks.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Up on you. At the end of the year.
- 3:35Speaker 6: You had about four workouts and in one day with
- 3:37Speaker 6: Mickey Mouse in the house.
- 3:38Speaker 4: Well, Piper jten, I didn't realize that. But at the
- 3:40Speaker 4: end of the day there was a thirty minute ride
- 3:43Speaker 4: back to the hotel and we both we all got
- 3:44Speaker 4: into the car stiff after walking so much yesterday. So yeah,
- 3:51Speaker 4: all of us put some time in on our shoes yesterday.
- 3:53Speaker 4: But I had a good time. Enjoyed some Disney Fair
- 3:57Speaker 4: in terms of corn dogs, churros, and even a little barbecue.
- 4:01Speaker 4: I mean I could find barbecue at Disneyland.
- 4:04Speaker 5: It really isn't too hard.
- 4:05Speaker 6: And hey, yea also have Tony Romas across the street,
- 4:07Speaker 6: which I think is one of your hotspots.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Also, absolutely, it was on my list, but we had
- 4:11Speaker 4: a big group there, so I'm gonna put that one
- 4:13Speaker 4: off till next trip.
- 4:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:14Speaker 6: Look, if you're looking back at Piper Show's fiend, you
- 4:16Speaker 6: guys had a great time. I think Carlman Bate part
- 4:18Speaker 6: of the Kings broadcast team. She and Piper go way back.
- 4:21Speaker 6: That added to the vibe as well. And I mean,
- 4:23Speaker 6: I can't be happier for someone like Piper who just
- 4:25Speaker 6: loves this to death. And she she she comes in
- 4:29Speaker 6: completely decked out with the Disney garb up and down.
- 4:34Speaker 5: I mean, she really is the happiest.
- 4:36Speaker 4: Please notice a few different people, Hey, Piper, shot can
- 4:39Speaker 4: get We're in Disneyland.
- 4:41Speaker 5: There's a one hundred thousand people here.
- 4:43Speaker 6: Now these are cracking fans in Disney, fans who listen
- 4:45Speaker 6: to her podcast also, right.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Absolutely, but yes, they did absolutely notice. Piper and JT
- 4:51Speaker 4: and I were just in the background.
- 4:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:52Speaker 6: Yeah, I had a brief meet up here with a
- 4:54Speaker 6: friend and mentor of mine. We've done a lot of
- 4:57Speaker 6: Dodgers games before and he lives up more on the
- 5:00Speaker 6: north side of of the area here with the greater
- 5:03Speaker 6: Los Angeles area. So we had a quick detour right
- 5:06Speaker 6: through Dodger Stadium and had a great time with photos
- 5:09Speaker 6: and walking around the ballpark as well.
- 5:11Speaker 5: Of course you did, yes, yes, because I know that, Hey,
- 5:15Speaker 5: you went to Detroit and you're lying.
- 5:17Speaker 1: You do the exact same Lions.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Lions have to get to a super Bowl before we
- 5:21Speaker 3: can talk about the exact same thing. Man, Lifelong Dodgers
- 5:25Speaker 3: fans and twenty come.
- 5:28Speaker 5: Well, you get some new jokes for one.
- 5:29Speaker 6: Seriously, Yeah, yeah, yeah, happiest place on Earth, they I'm taking.
- 5:34Speaker 5: I'm owning it here.
- 5:36Speaker 6: Let's let's recap this last week lost of Buffalo or
- 5:40Speaker 6: loss against Buffalo, loss against Colorado Los at Calgary, and
- 5:44Speaker 6: it feels like maybe the bottom is dropping out at
- 5:47Speaker 6: one nine and one, but things pick right back up
- 5:50Speaker 6: at San Jose. What a refreshing win that was. And
- 5:53Speaker 6: I'll kind of go about this in the way that
- 5:55Speaker 6: we did about a couple of weeks ago. The pros
- 5:58Speaker 6: and cons, the upside, the downsides, the things that you enjoyed,
- 6:03Speaker 6: the tough scenes, however you want to slice this year
- 6:05Speaker 6: for me, the pros you had to like where their
- 6:08Speaker 6: game was trending, I think not so much with San Jose,
- 6:11Speaker 6: but with Colorado, with Calgary the first two periods and
- 6:16Speaker 6: let's just face it here San Jose you got a
- 6:18Speaker 6: heavy dose of goaltending and a heavy dose of shot
- 6:21Speaker 6: blocking as well. So I think if you take up
- 6:24Speaker 6: maybe out the play under the hood of San Jose
- 6:27Speaker 6: where the Kraken didn't you know, Benpa didn't break, you
- 6:30Speaker 6: had to like again, where this game is going into
- 6:32Speaker 6: lane Lambert's credit, he raised a good point about this,
- 6:35Speaker 6: even Jordan Eberley as well. The cons For me, of course,
- 6:38Speaker 6: there's still the lack of offensive production. But things picked
- 6:40Speaker 6: up of course at San Jose. But yet when you're
- 6:43Speaker 6: scoring about roughly two goals a game. Again, Jordan Neberley
- 6:47Speaker 6: said this himself. I mentioned this is one of my
- 6:49Speaker 6: favorite quotes from him, is that the line is super
- 6:52Speaker 6: razor thin, meaning you have little to no margin for
- 6:56Speaker 6: air heads. You had the two back to back blown
- 6:59Speaker 6: third period leads. Well, but again you find a way
- 7:02Speaker 6: at San Jose that at least gets the mood going
- 7:04Speaker 6: back in the right direction.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that the win was crucial, and I think, you know,
- 7:09Speaker 3: it's been very frustrating and disappointing these last handful of games,
- 7:13Speaker 3: and Lane Lambert even said it himself.
- 7:14Speaker 1: He goes, the irony is that we're playing, in.
- 7:18Speaker 3: A lot of instances better in these losses than we've
- 7:22Speaker 3: had in some of our wins. And that's the most
- 7:24Speaker 3: frustrating part, is because this game is a game of inches,
- 7:28Speaker 3: and how many times have we heard Lane and other
- 7:31Speaker 3: players say we have to be damn near perfect in
- 7:34Speaker 3: order to win these games, and if we're not, it's
- 7:37Speaker 3: it's always one mistake, it's one let down, it's never man.
- 7:41Speaker 3: The Kraken are just playing awful tonight. I cannot think
- 7:45Speaker 3: of too many. I can maybe count on one hand
- 7:48Speaker 3: the number of stinkers this team has had all season long.
- 7:52Speaker 1: So that's the frustrating part.
- 7:53Speaker 3: You're still, you know what, two nine and one in
- 7:57Speaker 3: your last twelve, so you're you're trending in the right direction.
- 8:01Speaker 3: You can't start a win streak until you win the
- 8:04Speaker 3: first one, and they did that in San Jose a
- 8:06Speaker 3: couple of nights ago. But now you've got a back
- 8:08Speaker 3: to back coming up this week, and you play six
- 8:10Speaker 3: games in ten days. You've got a back to back,
- 8:14Speaker 3: two days off, a back to back two days off,
- 8:16Speaker 3: and then another back to back coming out of the brink,
- 8:18Speaker 3: so it's not like the schedule is going to lighten up.
- 8:23Speaker 3: So that win, I think was it was a really
- 8:26Speaker 3: good way to release a little bit of that pressure,
- 8:29Speaker 3: to loosen the valve a little bit. But they got
- 8:31Speaker 3: to keep on finding ways to rack up these points.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I would add to that that that San Jose game,
- 8:38Speaker 4: you know, we talked to Jordan Eberley between periods and
- 8:40Speaker 4: it was great that you you heard from the captain
- 8:42Speaker 4: because it was one one going to the third period,
- 8:45Speaker 4: they're on a tolven And goal and I got that
- 8:47Speaker 4: got that goal from the San Jose Sharks, and you
- 8:50Speaker 4: just we wanted to know from Jordan, like you've seen
- 8:53Speaker 4: a couple of a bunch of close games going to
- 8:56Speaker 4: that third period, what's it going to take for this
- 8:58Speaker 4: team to to get pushed over the top up And
- 9:00Speaker 4: you know, he talked a lot about you know, discipline
- 9:03Speaker 4: and focus and stuff. But it was great to see
- 9:06Speaker 4: the go ahead goal, the goals from defenseman Riker Evans
- 9:11Speaker 4: Ryan Lingern both getting goals. You know, we always talk
- 9:14Speaker 4: about depth and scoring with his team, and they weren't
- 9:16Speaker 4: snipes like obviously it's difficult to score on the NHL,
- 9:19Speaker 4: but it was putting the puck on net, and the
- 9:22Speaker 4: Cracket ended the game with thirty two shots on net.
- 9:24Speaker 4: That was huge. They've been shooting a lot more lately.
- 9:26Speaker 4: I think I did the stat a few games ago
- 9:29Speaker 4: where they've been averaging five or more shots per game
- 9:32Speaker 4: over the last ten games prior when you compare to
- 9:35Speaker 4: the ten games prior to that. So they're putting a
- 9:37Speaker 4: lot more pucks on net. And those two goals were
- 9:40Speaker 4: just that, they were shots on net through screens that
- 9:42Speaker 4: found their way through ends up helping the team win
- 9:45Speaker 4: the game.
- 9:45Speaker 5: So that was huge.
- 9:46Speaker 4: And you know, you say it's a game of inches,
- 9:48Speaker 4: I think it's a game of mistakes. You know, the
- 9:51Speaker 4: more mistakes you make, the more likely you're going to
- 9:54Speaker 4: lose the hockey game. But it's also you have to
- 9:57Speaker 4: take advantage of those mistakes. You have to force those
- 9:59Speaker 4: mistakes if you're pushing the other team. So if you
- 10:01Speaker 4: can cause a team to make more mistakes and you
- 10:04Speaker 4: can take advantage of those, you're gonna win the hockey game.
- 10:06Speaker 6: See here's where I get at with the San Jose
- 10:08Speaker 6: game two also got through passed Joey to court, but
- 10:11Speaker 6: they weren't clean goals, and san Jose had to work
- 10:15Speaker 6: for one of them. The second one was a free
- 10:17Speaker 6: play and a freak bounce, and I chocked that second
- 10:20Speaker 6: goal up just right to that. San Jose got a
- 10:22Speaker 6: ton of looks here, don't get me wrong. And this
- 10:24Speaker 6: is where I think something that where the krack and
- 10:26Speaker 6: want to, you know, lock down a little bit more
- 10:28Speaker 6: here ahead of Anaheim in LA. But this is where
- 10:31Speaker 6: goaltending can stabilize you if you're plug chasing. And we're
- 10:34Speaker 6: right back to this once again, where goaltending is going
- 10:37Speaker 6: to keep you in games.
- 10:38Speaker 5: And there's seven points out right now back of the
- 10:41Speaker 5: cut line.
- 10:41Speaker 6: But if you want to drag yourselves back into the
- 10:44Speaker 6: fight goaltending has to be a big part.
- 10:46Speaker 7: Of this here.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Yeah, one thing we've always said is looking at this team,
- 10:49Speaker 3: defense and goaltending have never been the problem. And I
- 10:52Speaker 3: think if you look at Joey's numbers and Grubauer's numbers,
- 10:55Speaker 3: they even though on paper they might not, you know,
- 11:00Speaker 3: look the best we're looking at one goal games here
- 11:03Speaker 3: from Seattle. A lot of these games, I think the
- 11:06Speaker 3: Kraken now have played in six of their last seven
- 11:09Speaker 3: have been essentially one goal games if you count the
- 11:12Speaker 3: if you take away the empty netters. So you know,
- 11:14Speaker 3: Joey Decord Philip Grubauer are letting in one to two
- 11:18Speaker 3: goals a night and then they're finding ways to to
- 11:22Speaker 3: to keep the team in games. Joey Decord last game
- 11:24Speaker 3: in a nine to seven two say percentence, right, so
- 11:26Speaker 3: he's he's continuing to play well.
- 11:30Speaker 1: But you're right.
- 11:31Speaker 3: I mean, your goalie a lot of times has to
- 11:33Speaker 3: be your best player. And that goes back to the
- 11:35Speaker 3: comments that we've heard from multiple guys as that man, our.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Goalie was big tonight. He was really huge back there.
- 11:41Speaker 3: So that's gonna be a huge key and a huge
- 11:44Speaker 3: factor for Seattle moving forward. Is you know, fairly or unfairly,
- 11:50Speaker 3: your goalie on on most nights is going to have
- 11:53Speaker 3: to be your best player.
- 11:55Speaker 6: We're gonna get to some previews here, lineup updates as
- 11:58Speaker 6: well that are coming down the pipe here for today.
- 12:01Speaker 6: But I want to go also here to the roster
- 12:03Speaker 6: component of this. Here the Mason Marchman trade which happened
- 12:07Speaker 6: right before the San Jose game.
- 12:09Speaker 5: And listen, I mean there there are some there, there are.
- 12:12Speaker 6: Some trades which work out, some that don't and I
- 12:16Speaker 6: think just based on the production aspect of this here
- 12:18Speaker 6: off the top, this wasn't gonna be a good fit.
- 12:21Speaker 6: And the reason why that a move was made, and
- 12:23Speaker 6: you know, I think in another in other senses here
- 12:25Speaker 6: is that you put Mason Marchman on a different team.
- 12:27Speaker 6: There's there there's something going with him and Don Wald,
- 12:30Speaker 6: Don Wandell here from the past. That's something that that
- 12:32Speaker 6: works out for him. But now you have more room
- 12:35Speaker 6: opening up for players like Yanni Newman when he's back
- 12:39Speaker 6: in healthy, Berkeley Catton, and then you have to solve
- 12:41Speaker 6: who goes where when you plug Jayden Schwartz in Jerry
- 12:44Speaker 6: mccannon right back here into this mix. So, I mean
- 12:47Speaker 6: tough to see Marchman go from the fact that there
- 12:50Speaker 6: were some big plans for him back in the summer.
- 12:52Speaker 6: But what you do is that you move on and
- 12:54Speaker 6: now all of a sudden, you move some cap space
- 12:56Speaker 6: open and not not not also just that, but also
- 12:59Speaker 6: the draft picks that you get back from a turn,
- 13:00Speaker 6: which also includes one second rounder.
- 13:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean you've in improved your your second round
- 13:06Speaker 4: draft pick on on that trade, and it does create
- 13:09Speaker 4: opportunities for others. I don't think it was a good fit.
- 13:14Speaker 4: You know, for whatever reason, it just didn't look like
- 13:17Speaker 4: it was working with Mason Marchmant. You know, we see
- 13:20Speaker 4: obviously much more than the game itself. We see the practice,
- 13:24Speaker 4: we see you know, the office stated they tried moving
- 13:26Speaker 4: him up and down the line. Yeah, yeah, so all over,
- 13:29Speaker 4: for whatever reason, it just didn't work out. And you know,
- 13:32Speaker 4: it wasn't just you know, two games ago that you
- 13:35Speaker 4: saw it wasn't working out. It was you know, a
- 13:37Speaker 4: dozen or more games ago when you started to think,
- 13:40Speaker 4: I don't think this is going to be a long
- 13:41Speaker 4: term situation for Mason marchmanth So, I don't think it
- 13:44Speaker 4: was a surprise for any of us to see him
- 13:46Speaker 4: moved off the roster to another team.
- 13:48Speaker 6: There's conversation of where are you right now in relation
- 13:51Speaker 6: here to the standings? Does that may be affect you know,
- 13:53Speaker 6: where this team moves with trade activity, and I mean listen,
- 13:57Speaker 6: we said this before, we'll say it again. You know
- 14:00Speaker 6: there'll be more moves in store. Potentially he could have
- 14:02Speaker 6: helped this team, I think, certainly. But you know, if
- 14:05Speaker 6: you're if you're somebody asking me, if you're this far out,
- 14:08Speaker 6: why don't you just go ahead and tear it down. Well,
- 14:10Speaker 6: the thing is is that you've still got a lot
- 14:13Speaker 6: of games here to play in January, and I think
- 14:16Speaker 6: there's a sense of what this team wants to look
- 14:19Speaker 6: at when they can get mc cann back, when they
- 14:21Speaker 6: can get Schwartz back once they're healthy, and see if
- 14:24Speaker 6: they can give a real, real solid kick at this
- 14:26Speaker 6: thing once they come out of the roster freeze period
- 14:29Speaker 6: of this and then right back into January, because you
- 14:32Speaker 6: look at this here from what they've got going there
- 14:35Speaker 6: are seventeen games in January.
- 14:37Speaker 5: Which will be a lot of hockey. I couldn't believe
- 14:42Speaker 5: it when you said that way.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Yep, nineteen and thirty five if you start out the Christmas.
- 14:47Speaker 6: So we're hearing again that the Olympic break is going
- 14:49Speaker 6: to be maybe I think a big checkpoint where a
- 14:53Speaker 6: lot of teams are at with the temperature of their season,
- 14:55Speaker 6: the temperature of their roster. And I think it if
- 14:59Speaker 6: you if depending upon which the stream you go to,
- 15:02Speaker 6: going all in or tearing it all the way down.
- 15:06Speaker 6: It's still a bit too early right now in the season.
- 15:08Speaker 3: It's early, but I mean the kracket had been playing
- 15:11Speaker 3: with a shortened roster, and we're gonna break some news
- 15:15Speaker 3: right now.
- 15:15Speaker 6: We just found out all right, Everett, youah this stage, Yeah,
- 15:18Speaker 6: I don't, I don't have the breaking news, flopper, but zero.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Brandon Montor four weeks on the shelf with with hand surgery,
- 15:29Speaker 3: like come on and like it. That to me has
- 15:34Speaker 3: been the most frustrating part about this season is you
- 15:37Speaker 3: know that if you had a full compliment of players
- 15:41Speaker 3: for thirty forty game, thirty four tonight, whatever it is, right,
- 15:46Speaker 3: if you've had a full compliment of players, you're not
- 15:49Speaker 3: You're not losing nine of ten games.
- 15:51Speaker 1: You're not doing that right.
- 15:52Speaker 3: So now you find out today that Brandon Montor is
- 15:54Speaker 3: out for four weeks with with with with hand surgery.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Every injury there's been no data day with the sniffles,
- 16:01Speaker 3: it's all been four to six, six to eight, like
- 16:04Speaker 3: these have all been long term injuries that have kept
- 16:07Speaker 3: you know, your best players McCann and Schwartz and Coppocaco
- 16:12Speaker 3: and now Brandon Montor. So we decord missed a couple
- 16:15Speaker 3: of games, like all of your best players have been
- 16:17Speaker 3: on the shelf, and you know that's the that's the
- 16:20Speaker 3: very frustrating, maddening part about this schedule.
- 16:23Speaker 1: But you're right. I mean the schedule doesn't get it easier.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Like I said before nineteen and thirty five, coming out
- 16:29Speaker 3: of the break six and ten to start with three
- 16:32Speaker 3: back to backs, and Alan and I were talking, I
- 16:34Speaker 3: cannot remember a time where a team has had three
- 16:37Speaker 3: back to backs in a row. I mean that this
- 16:39Speaker 3: is this is an EHL schedule when we're playing seven
- 16:42Speaker 3: and nine, so like this is in Yes, this is insane.
- 16:47Speaker 5: People.
- 16:47Speaker 6: If you're ever wondering what it takes here to reach
- 16:50Speaker 6: the NHL, you've and you've got to go through the grind.
- 16:53Speaker 6: And this is what they call the grind in the
- 16:55Speaker 6: minor leagues. A lot of bus rides, a lot of
- 16:57Speaker 6: three and threes. The NHL does not have.
- 17:00Speaker 5: Three and three.
- 17:01Speaker 3: And listen, I understand that we travel better than most
- 17:05Speaker 3: and we're treated very very well, and I know this
- 17:08Speaker 3: is kind of first world problems here, but I'll give
- 17:10Speaker 3: you a scenario. The Kraken have a home game against
- 17:12Speaker 3: the Minnesota Wild on January eighth. They play in Carolina
- 17:17Speaker 3: on the tenth, so they have a cross country flight
- 17:20Speaker 3: to start a five game road trip. Usually you're allowed
- 17:24Speaker 3: to go out two days early. If you have to
- 17:26Speaker 3: cross two time zones, two or more time zones, and
- 17:29Speaker 3: we do.
- 17:29Speaker 6: There will also be a game in Calgary on a Monday,
- 17:32Speaker 6: and then right back home against Boston on a turn
- 17:35Speaker 6: on Tuesday.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Yeah, so, I mean, the back to backs are crazy.
- 17:39Speaker 3: But you know, I'm getting off my soapbox here, but
- 17:41Speaker 3: it's just I think for this team, when going back
- 17:44Speaker 3: to your initial question, when you're looking at buying, selling, trading,
- 17:49Speaker 3: whatever the case may be, I mean, I think January fifteenth,
- 17:54Speaker 3: that might be the cut line for me, because you're
- 17:58Speaker 3: still early enough before the dead line. Some teams out
- 18:01Speaker 3: there are a bit desperate. If you're Seattle, you can
- 18:04Speaker 3: maybe look at leveraging some pieces, or if you're right
- 18:07Speaker 3: back in this thing, the Kraken could go from sellers
- 18:10Speaker 3: slash standing pat to buying. So but I do think
- 18:14Speaker 3: that you're gonna have to see a positive movement North
- 18:18Speaker 3: in the standings over these next two weeks three weeks.
- 18:20Speaker 4: Yeah, you know this team that struggled, well, let's be honest,
- 18:24Speaker 4: let's struggle all season long to put pucks in a
- 18:26Speaker 4: net winning games, you know, in low event style three
- 18:30Speaker 4: two two to one, going to a shootout with the
- 18:32Speaker 4: Islanders zero zero, both goaltenders getting shutouts. A lot of
- 18:37Speaker 4: that struggle comes from having guys like Jared McCann, Jaden Schwartz,
- 18:41Speaker 4: and now Brandon Montour out of the line lineup long term.
- 18:45Speaker 4: So you know, you think about the month of January
- 18:48Speaker 4: coming up, these nineteen games after the holiday in thirty
- 18:51Speaker 4: five days, this team's really gonna have to lean on
- 18:54Speaker 4: this defensive structure and find a way, even with this schedule,
- 18:58Speaker 4: to play each and every game that way, to continue
- 19:01Speaker 4: to win hockey games three to two, two to one,
- 19:03Speaker 4: four to three, because they're just not gonna get the
- 19:06Speaker 4: offensive output they would get if they had Montour, McCann,
- 19:11Speaker 4: and Schwartz in the lineup.
- 19:12Speaker 6: There's no assumption that you're gonna run the table. And
- 19:14Speaker 6: of course this season has had a lot of updill
- 19:16Speaker 6: battles here, but getting to game forty eight, which will
- 19:20Speaker 6: be January nineteenth, the Kraken have just played through game
- 19:24Speaker 6: thirty three. They'll be right through game forty eight by
- 19:28Speaker 6: January nineteen. There are a lot of points on the
- 19:32Speaker 6: table to be had and to be swiped. So I
- 19:36Speaker 6: think based on how much you're treading water right now
- 19:38Speaker 6: and again We're gonna get more into the loss of
- 19:40Speaker 6: Montour in a bit, but the fact that you could
- 19:43Speaker 6: still be getting Jayden Schwartz back soon, maybe getting Jared
- 19:47Speaker 6: mccannon back soon, sooner than later, I should say. But
- 19:51Speaker 6: then also Berkeley Catton and how well he's looked as well.
- 19:55Speaker 6: I think again this last week told us that there
- 19:57Speaker 6: is something maybe that they can dig deeper with here
- 20:02Speaker 6: for this lineup and for how they play to get
- 20:05Speaker 6: these matters back on track and put this one to
- 20:08Speaker 6: nine and one slide right back in the rearview mirror.
- 20:10Speaker 6: And I think fits you said a great that middle
- 20:13Speaker 6: point in January is going to be I think a
- 20:15Speaker 6: big check pointer for a lot of teams to decide
- 20:17Speaker 6: what they want to do with their season.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it is.
- 20:19Speaker 3: And again I think it's it's for not only for Seattle,
- 20:23Speaker 3: but the saving grace right now is that, yeah, you're
- 20:26Speaker 3: seven points back, but everyone's.
- 20:27Speaker 1: So bunched up.
- 20:29Speaker 6: This is why you have good goaltending, Yeah exactly, This
- 20:31Speaker 6: is why Bultennan keeps.
- 20:32Speaker 5: You in the game no matter what.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Yeah, one hundred percent.
- 20:34Speaker 3: So you know a lot of people maybe were scoffing
- 20:36Speaker 3: at the crack and keeping the three goalies. But now
- 20:38Speaker 3: it's looking like a pretty genius move with the injuries
- 20:41Speaker 3: that we've seen, and now you've got three.
- 20:43Speaker 5: Matt Murray could be back. Murray could be.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Back soon as well, So now you could go back
- 20:47Speaker 3: to having a three goalie, more fresh rotation, hopefully in
- 20:51Speaker 3: the next couple of weeks here. And you're in a
- 20:53Speaker 3: very busy part. You're in a very busy part of
- 20:54Speaker 3: the schedule as well, exactly. So it's not it's not easy.
- 20:58Speaker 3: It's not going to be easy for Seattle. But like
- 21:01Speaker 3: you've said before, I think these games have a potential.
- 21:05Speaker 3: Just as the Kraken have slid a little bit, you
- 21:07Speaker 3: can get on a roll and keep on going. And
- 21:10Speaker 3: I mean I think sometimes players will tell you like, man,
- 21:13Speaker 3: I don't want to break, Like you know, how many
- 21:15Speaker 3: times have we seen teams going into the All Star
- 21:17Speaker 3: break having won five of six or seven of nine,
- 21:21Speaker 3: whatever the case may be, and then they have a
- 21:23Speaker 3: five day break and you're like, oh, man, no, I
- 21:25Speaker 3: want to keep going.
- 21:26Speaker 1: We're feeling it.
- 21:27Speaker 3: So you're hoping that for the Kraken, that win against
- 21:31Speaker 3: San Jose, maybe that sparks a streak for Seattle that
- 21:35Speaker 3: can continue here tonight.
- 21:36Speaker 6: So I'll get to Brandon montor now, and this is
- 21:40Speaker 6: the part where we get to how it affects the
- 21:43Speaker 6: lineup because he eats up so many minutes and he
- 21:47Speaker 6: produces so much five on five power play as well.
- 21:52Speaker 5: Some argue he could be on PP.
- 21:53Speaker 6: One right now, and I think there's certainly merit here
- 21:55Speaker 6: to it. But where do we see the bigger effect
- 21:58Speaker 6: that will challenge this the most five on five where
- 22:02Speaker 6: you manage Vince done, Adam Larson's minutes and then throwing
- 22:05Speaker 6: in Lindra and alexiak in there as well. Or is
- 22:08Speaker 6: this more more of a power play thing?
- 22:10Speaker 4: No, I think I think it's it's five on five
- 22:12Speaker 4: because you know, Mantour plays a lot, a lot of
- 22:15Speaker 4: minutes overall in the game. Yeah, he's on the power
- 22:17Speaker 4: play as well, but if you only get one or
- 22:19Speaker 4: two power plays, that's four minutes you know of hockey,
- 22:22Speaker 4: and and yes he does have an impact there, but
- 22:25Speaker 4: the five on five is really where it's gonna show.
- 22:28Speaker 4: Not having him jump into the rushes, turning a two
- 22:30Speaker 4: on two into a three on two, not jumping into
- 22:33Speaker 4: a one on one situation where he goes to the
- 22:36Speaker 4: back door and he's available for a pass, and I'm
- 22:38Speaker 4: talking about offense, but then he's also he also gets
- 22:41Speaker 4: back on defense, and it doesn't leave his deep partner
- 22:44Speaker 4: hung out to dry. So I think that's what I'm
- 22:46Speaker 4: gonna miss seeing while he's out of the lineup right now,
- 22:48Speaker 4: is the impact he has on the offense.
- 22:51Speaker 3: I think that too, And also what we've seen from
- 22:54Speaker 3: Brandon Montour is is his demeanor off the ice in
- 22:57Speaker 3: the locker room, and I think it's it's that leadership.
- 23:01Speaker 3: Even though he doesn't have a letter, guys gravitate toward him,
- 23:04Speaker 3: and he's he brings this light energy, this levity to
- 23:08Speaker 3: the room. Things are never too low with Brandon Montour.
- 23:12Speaker 3: He's always got a smile for you. He's always joking,
- 23:15Speaker 3: and I think when you're in the thick of it,
- 23:18Speaker 3: like the crack of our right now, whether that be
- 23:20Speaker 3: the strength of the schedule or the lack of results,
- 23:25Speaker 3: you need that person to calm things down. So he's
- 23:29Speaker 3: a calming presence. I talk so much about how Jane
- 23:31Speaker 3: Schwartz on the ice is a very calming presence, and
- 23:34Speaker 3: you know that whenever he's on the ice, you're gonna
- 23:37Speaker 3: be fine. I think with Brandon Montour, you get the
- 23:40Speaker 3: same thing, but also in the locker room as well.
- 23:42Speaker 3: So and then I'm not devaluating his importance on the ice,
- 23:45Speaker 3: but just from what we see of from him on
- 23:48Speaker 3: the bench in the room, that part is gonna be
- 23:50Speaker 3: missed as well.
- 23:52Speaker 4: Yeah, you're not devaluating. I think you're placing just as
- 23:55Speaker 4: much value off the ice as he is on the ice.
- 23:57Speaker 4: And you make a great point about Montour, you know,
- 23:59Speaker 4: not being in the locker room. Same thing with Schwartz,
- 24:02Speaker 4: same thing with McCann. Like, these are three leaders on
- 24:05Speaker 4: this team. That puts a lot more of this leadership responsibility,
- 24:09Speaker 4: if you will, on Jordan Eberley's shoulders. You know, he's
- 24:12Speaker 4: got to be the one that's engaged with the other
- 24:15Speaker 4: nineteen guys in the room. Whereas when you have that
- 24:17Speaker 4: leadership spread amongst those other three guys, it's a lot
- 24:20Speaker 4: easier to manage. So it puts a lot more responsibility
- 24:23Speaker 4: on Everley while these three guys are out.
- 24:25Speaker 6: All right, before our mailbag segments, let's jump right here
- 24:28Speaker 6: to the Beacon plumbing hotline, the radio voice, the Coachella
- 24:31Speaker 6: Valley Firebirds checking in. All right, been a while since
- 24:33Speaker 6: we turned the attention here to the prospects side, but
- 24:36Speaker 6: it's always a good time to bring in our friend
- 24:38Speaker 6: Evan Pivnik here to Cracking Weekly. He is on with
- 24:41Speaker 6: us quite a bit because he is the radio play
- 24:44Speaker 6: by play voice of the Coachella Valley Firebirds on the
- 24:47Speaker 6: American Hockey League side. Evan joins us here on Crack
- 24:51Speaker 6: and Weekly. Evan, Happy holidays, Merry Christmas. I don't think
- 24:56Speaker 6: that you're bundling up too much out there in the
- 24:59Speaker 6: Palm Desert area. But what are you looking forward to
- 25:02Speaker 6: here with the holidays coming up?
- 25:04Speaker 7: You know what I have been. I broke out the
- 25:08Speaker 7: sweatshirt and the sweatpants. As of late, it's been colder
- 25:12Speaker 7: in the mornings around fifty five when I when I,
- 25:15Speaker 7: when I come outside.
- 25:16Speaker 5: That's double layer weather for us up here.
- 25:18Speaker 7: Fella, no but fits and al. You guys were just
- 25:22Speaker 7: in Calgary. We were just in Calgary as well a
- 25:25Speaker 7: week before you guys, and it was it was seven below.
- 25:28Speaker 7: So we went through the uh, you know, the the
- 25:31Speaker 7: two extremes. So everyone's still trying to get their equilib
- 25:34Speaker 7: room is back on track, but yeah, looking forward to
- 25:37Speaker 7: the holidays. A few days off I get to see
- 25:39Speaker 7: you guys, which I'm excited about in Anaheim, and you know,
- 25:42Speaker 7: you guys get to get some nice Southern California weather.
- 25:46Speaker 6: It's always good to bring the connection up here with
- 25:48Speaker 6: the Firebirds and the Crack and when the Crack can
- 25:50Speaker 6: come on down to visit Southern California here for the
- 25:53Speaker 6: visits against the Ducks and the Kings, and turning our
- 25:55Speaker 6: attention here to the Firebirds side, because right now kind
- 25:58Speaker 6: of in the middle of the Pacific Divisi, but still
- 26:00Speaker 6: with a pretty good and pretty solid winning record as
- 26:04Speaker 6: we have this conversation, so it seems as if every year,
- 26:08Speaker 6: and this is for the folks who are still understanding
- 26:11Speaker 6: the nuances and the context in between the NHL and
- 26:15Speaker 6: the AHL, a lot of success in the American Hockey
- 26:19Speaker 6: League is determined a course, with the amount of prospects
- 26:22Speaker 6: that you have in the system and not so much
- 26:24Speaker 6: on the continuity of veterans like you would have at
- 26:28Speaker 6: the NHL level, and things can certainly change year by years.
- 26:32Speaker 6: So under year two of Derek Laxtall, where have they
- 26:37Speaker 6: gone so far with regards to meeting the bar as
- 26:41Speaker 6: a collective unit with their prospects here this season so far.
- 26:45Speaker 7: I think everyone's been pleasantly surprised about what's been going
- 26:48Speaker 7: on so far with you know, with the way the
- 26:50Speaker 7: team has been building. You know, you looked at the
- 26:52Speaker 7: offseason even you know, the writing was on the wall
- 26:54Speaker 7: last year going into this season of this is going
- 26:57Speaker 7: to be a young team. It's going to be a
- 26:58Speaker 7: team that is going to be mostly twenty year olds,
- 27:01Speaker 7: very little veteran presence. And you know, and that was
- 27:06Speaker 7: counting on having Max McCormick back this year too, but
- 27:08Speaker 7: he's he's out for the year. So now you're down
- 27:11Speaker 7: to two veterans right now in the lineup with Mitchell
- 27:14Speaker 7: Stevens and John Hayden. Gustaf Olofson is working his way
- 27:18Speaker 7: back from an injury. Ben Myers was just called up,
- 27:21Speaker 7: So you know what, there's kudos to those guys because
- 27:25Speaker 7: you know, those guys are the ones who are kind
- 27:27Speaker 7: of not so the voice of reason in the locker room,
- 27:30Speaker 7: but they're setting such a big example for these young players,
- 27:33Speaker 7: and you know what, it even brings the onus a
- 27:36Speaker 7: little bit more on guys like Jacob Malanson who's now
- 27:39Speaker 7: called up, but Logan Morris and even you know, Ty
- 27:43Speaker 7: Nelson and Jagger Furcus David go. Yeah, guys who have
- 27:45Speaker 7: been there for at least a year. They're the older
- 27:47Speaker 7: guys in the room. Now. There are these older presences
- 27:49Speaker 7: that these young guys can learn from. And Derek Lackstaff
- 27:53Speaker 7: says all the time, you know, as you get to
- 27:55Speaker 7: game twenty, you know, these guys aren't really rookies anymore.
- 27:58Speaker 7: And I think they've been settling in nicely. There's been,
- 28:02Speaker 7: you know, a lot of things that have brought this
- 28:04Speaker 7: team together. And one thing I've really liked so far
- 28:07Speaker 7: is how resilient this team has been. And I don't
- 28:10Speaker 7: know if that's be because, you know, you just have
- 28:11Speaker 7: a bunch of rookies who maybe don't know any better.
- 28:14Speaker 7: So they're coming back from two goal deficits every single game,
- 28:17Speaker 7: or at least keeping themselves in every single game rather
- 28:20Speaker 7: than just you know, getting down on themselves once they
- 28:22Speaker 7: give up a couple of goals. But you know, that's
- 28:25Speaker 7: kind of been them for this team, is there never
- 28:27Speaker 7: never give up sort of mentality. I don't know if
- 28:29Speaker 7: that's just you know, in tribute to to John Cena
- 28:32Speaker 7: who had just retired, but I think that's that's kind
- 28:35Speaker 7: of been what this team has been all about.
- 28:38Speaker 5: That's wrestling reference.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Yeah, pim couple. You know, a couple of guys that
- 28:43Speaker 4: stand up to me from from training camp in preseason,
- 28:47Speaker 4: Oscar Fisker Mogard who has come up a little bit
- 28:49Speaker 4: as well as Tyson Jugnat. Juggnat's got eighteen points, four goals,
- 28:53Speaker 4: fourteen assists. What's his season been looking like?
- 28:57Speaker 7: He's just been stronger and stronger after every single game.
- 29:00Speaker 7: And I think, you know, there are a lot of
- 29:02Speaker 7: guys who still make mistakes here and there. You know,
- 29:05Speaker 7: I think Lane Lambert said it during your guys training camp,
- 29:08Speaker 7: errors of enthusiasm. There have been plenty of those. Yeah,
- 29:13Speaker 7: there have been plenty of those. But you know what
- 29:15Speaker 7: Tyson is is a guy who he is an experienced player,
- 29:20Speaker 7: one of the most more experienced players as as Molgard
- 29:23Speaker 7: is too, just from where he's played before, not only
- 29:25Speaker 7: playing junior but playing a year in college as well.
- 29:27Speaker 7: For jugg Nat, and he's just been a strong, steady
- 29:31Speaker 7: presence and every single game he's gotten a little bit better.
- 29:34Speaker 7: You know, he makes a ton of assists. You know,
- 29:37Speaker 7: he had a four point game in Calgary last week,
- 29:39Speaker 7: four points in the first period, two goals and two assists,
- 29:42Speaker 7: and not often do you get that from a defenseman,
- 29:43Speaker 7: so he can turn it on where it need be.
- 29:46Speaker 7: He's clutched too. He has I think four overtime points
- 29:49Speaker 7: this year as well, so you know, he's fun to
- 29:51Speaker 7: watch and he's still growing into his game at the
- 29:53Speaker 7: pro level. So he's uh. I think the ceiling's really
- 29:56Speaker 7: high with him. And he mentioned Oscar Fisterer and Mulgard
- 29:58Speaker 7: who you know what. He came in last year from
- 30:03Speaker 7: from overseas and he played his first few games with
- 30:05Speaker 7: us and we were kind of astonished about how mature
- 30:09Speaker 7: he looked out there, and obviously that's a big credit
- 30:12Speaker 7: to the SHL and then playing against grown men over
- 30:16Speaker 7: there compared to guys who maybe play against you know,
- 30:19Speaker 7: the guys their agent junior. But you could see that
- 30:22Speaker 7: he is probably three or four years maturity wise ahead
- 30:27Speaker 7: of a lot of the other rookie players. You know,
- 30:29Speaker 7: his hockey IQs off the charts. He scored a highlight
- 30:32Speaker 7: reel goal the other night to give the Firebirds the
- 30:34Speaker 7: lead late in the third period. He's he's just been
- 30:37Speaker 7: consistent and I think that's really what he drives after
- 30:43Speaker 7: it's just consistency, same thing every day. You know the
- 30:45Speaker 7: effort you're gonna get out of him, you know the
- 30:47Speaker 7: skill that he brings, and just the positive energy he
- 30:50Speaker 7: brings to the team as well. And I think, as
- 30:52Speaker 7: I said before, you know, you have so few older
- 30:55Speaker 7: guys on this team. So for him to have that
- 30:58Speaker 7: maturity and then be at that level right now, I
- 31:00Speaker 7: think is helping not only just himself, and you know,
- 31:02Speaker 7: he earned himself an NHL call up this year, but
- 31:04Speaker 7: other guys who are looking to get that call up
- 31:07Speaker 7: to the NHL and just kind of watch what he
- 31:09Speaker 7: does every single day from a young player's perspective.
- 31:12Speaker 3: You know, it's funny you're talking about the guys who
- 31:15Speaker 3: have been earning spots and a guy like Oscar Fisker Mulgard,
- 31:18Speaker 3: who the players up here even said, you can tell
- 31:21Speaker 3: he's played pro hockey for a number of years. And
- 31:24Speaker 3: we're getting to that point now year five where we're
- 31:26Speaker 3: starting to see these first and second round draft picks,
- 31:30Speaker 3: these first Craken picks start to make their way into
- 31:33Speaker 3: the NHL and looking up and down the roster, when
- 31:36Speaker 3: you see a Jagger Fercus, when you see a villi
- 31:39Speaker 3: Odoviyan and a Carsons, Raycoff, David Goyette, how close in
- 31:44Speaker 3: your opinion, even though a lot of Aden's got a
- 31:46Speaker 3: game last year, but some of those guys who are
- 31:48Speaker 3: now in their second third year pro how close do
- 31:51Speaker 3: you feel a lot of these guys are to making
- 31:54Speaker 3: that next.
- 31:55Speaker 7: Jump, whether it be temporary or permanently. Well, I think
- 31:59Speaker 7: you see all those guys you mentioned, I think if
- 32:01Speaker 7: you put them into an NHL scenario, I think they
- 32:03Speaker 7: could they could at least tread water.
- 32:05Speaker 3: You know.
- 32:05Speaker 7: That's and I think that's compliments to just the whole
- 32:10Speaker 7: development right and and the cohesion of the NHL to
- 32:14Speaker 7: AHL relationship where the NHL team kind of operates very similar.
- 32:18Speaker 7: The AHL team operates very similar to the way the
- 32:20Speaker 7: NHL team does in all aspects, including on the ice.
- 32:23Speaker 7: So if there is a call up that needs to
- 32:25Speaker 7: be needs to be made, then that player feels a
- 32:27Speaker 7: lot more comfortable because the systems are similar. Power plays,
- 32:31Speaker 7: penalty kills, breakouts, all those little things can really just
- 32:36Speaker 7: kind of you know, plug in place in ways. And
- 32:39Speaker 7: you know these guys too, they think they do. I
- 32:41Speaker 7: think they do such a great job. But I've said
- 32:42Speaker 7: this before, just the way that the Firebirds and the Kraken.
- 32:47Speaker 7: They bring all the young players and unfortunately, you know,
- 32:50Speaker 7: we've had really long playoff stints the first and second year,
- 32:54Speaker 7: and we went to the second round last year. But
- 32:56Speaker 7: you look at how many guys came out and saw
- 33:00Speaker 7: what the Firebirds were all about and what the Crack
- 33:02Speaker 7: can expect of them. They were there as black aces,
- 33:05Speaker 7: but they were practicing every game every day and taking
- 33:08Speaker 7: warm ups and and all that stuff. So they got
- 33:10Speaker 7: to get that pro experience right out of the gates.
- 33:12Speaker 7: So they know the expectations, they know what the Cracking
- 33:15Speaker 7: organization wants from them. I think Corey Murphy's doing a
- 33:18Speaker 7: great job. Justin Rice, who the same sort of people.
- 33:23Speaker 7: Just compliments the Krack and development staff because they've done
- 33:25Speaker 7: such a great job of having everyone ready for that
- 33:30Speaker 7: call up. And you know, I hope Villi gets a
- 33:34Speaker 7: few more games. I hope Jagger gets an opportunity this
- 33:36Speaker 7: season at some point, because he's definitely earned it. He's
- 33:39Speaker 7: been about a point of game player all season long.
- 33:41Speaker 7: You know, even Logan Morrison who's waiting in the wings
- 33:44Speaker 7: for his next NHL call up. There are so many
- 33:46Speaker 7: guys who I think it's probably pretty fun for Jason
- 33:50Speaker 7: Bartow right now to say, oh, let's let's give this
- 33:52Speaker 7: guy a chance, and then it's exciting right to be like, Okay, well,
- 33:56Speaker 7: we have four or five guys that can definitely go
- 33:59Speaker 7: and play the nast Hockey League.
- 34:01Speaker 3: On a similar topic, I was going to save this
- 34:03Speaker 3: question for later, but you kind of went into it
- 34:04Speaker 3: a little bit there.
- 34:05Speaker 1: In the minor leagues, there is there is a lot of.
- 34:08Speaker 3: Differences between organizations, right, Some organizations they want to win.
- 34:13Speaker 3: Other organizations don't care about results. It's all about your prospects.
- 34:17Speaker 3: And I think with Seattle you get a bit.
- 34:20Speaker 7: Of both, right.
- 34:20Speaker 3: Obviously, in Coachella Valley, you want to grow the hockey product.
- 34:23Speaker 3: You want to make money. We are a for profit business.
- 34:26Speaker 3: We want to have success. But also you're trying to
- 34:29Speaker 3: develop those prospects as well. What have you seen from
- 34:34Speaker 3: the hockey side and the business side that has made
- 34:37Speaker 3: Coachella just so successful in four years time now?
- 34:43Speaker 7: I think you look at the investment right away, you
- 34:46Speaker 7: look at the arena, the Firebirds playing, and you know
- 34:49Speaker 7: Fits and Mike, you guys have been there al still
- 34:51Speaker 7: waiting for you to make your appearance at Arista now yeah, yeah, yes,
- 34:57Speaker 7: it's a great spot and I wish you guys were
- 34:59Speaker 7: in town a bit longer to come to a game.
- 35:01Speaker 7: But you know, I think just from the ground up
- 35:04Speaker 7: of the expectations of a beautiful, brand new building that
- 35:07Speaker 7: at Oakview Group helps that help get off the ground,
- 35:10Speaker 7: and this area too that doesn't didn't have a hockey team,
- 35:13Speaker 7: and now everyone's rallying around him, and the success of
- 35:16Speaker 7: the first two seasons. The bar was very high from
- 35:20Speaker 7: the get GOI you know, bringing in Dan Bielsma as
- 35:23Speaker 7: the head coach and in year one, a guy who
- 35:25Speaker 7: won a Stanley Cup before, and then bringing in Derek
- 35:27Speaker 7: Laxtall after him, a guy who's had plenty of success
- 35:29Speaker 7: in junior and kind of paving the way for what
- 35:32Speaker 7: the Firebirds are going to become, knowing they're going to
- 35:34Speaker 7: be a younger team, you know what, from a business
- 35:37Speaker 7: side and from from an odd ice perspective, the expectation
- 35:43Speaker 7: is to win, which is really a great thing to see,
- 35:47Speaker 7: especially in the American Hockey League because you mentioned it
- 35:49Speaker 7: fits there are some teams in this league that you
- 35:51Speaker 7: know operate just as as a feeder, right. It's just
- 35:55Speaker 7: a way that you know they don't care if you
- 35:57Speaker 7: win a championship or exactly games. Sub is to get
- 36:01Speaker 7: players to the NHL exactly, And some teams don't care
- 36:05Speaker 7: how many people in the building are there to see
- 36:06Speaker 7: it as well. So we care about all that stuff,
- 36:10Speaker 7: the on ice products, it's all. It all relates. Winning
- 36:14Speaker 7: helps fill seats, and you know, our our players love
- 36:18Speaker 7: when the place is filled, and then that is something
- 36:21Speaker 7: that they feed off of as well, So it all
- 36:23Speaker 7: goes hand in hand. And I think just the expectations
- 36:26Speaker 7: are always so high and we always try to live
- 36:29Speaker 7: up to the expectations as much as we can.
- 36:31Speaker 6: I think a big question here for Jagger Fercus as
- 36:34Speaker 6: evan pitman joining us right now on Crack and Weekly
- 36:36Speaker 6: the broadcast voice for the Firebirds. Is Jagger Fercus going
- 36:40Speaker 6: to reach the NHL? The question could be a matter
- 36:43Speaker 6: of basically when, not if point per game totals right
- 36:47Speaker 6: now leads the team in scoring. He's five to eleven,
- 36:50Speaker 6: one hundred and seventy pounds. I'm not sure if that
- 36:53Speaker 6: is accurate based on website info to date, based on
- 36:56Speaker 6: where he's tipping the scales right now. But the ultimate
- 36:59Speaker 6: question is what is separating Jagger furcus from becoming an
- 37:04Speaker 6: NHL regular.
- 37:06Speaker 7: You know, you mentioned his size, and I think that's
- 37:08Speaker 7: something that he's definitely been working on. He's bulked up
- 37:11Speaker 7: even last summer and still continuing to do so. And
- 37:14Speaker 7: I think that's something he knows as well. You know,
- 37:16Speaker 7: he's not in junior anymore. He can skate around players
- 37:19Speaker 7: as much as he can, but you know you're gonna
- 37:20Speaker 7: run into a guy who's you know, seven years older
- 37:23Speaker 7: and has seven more years experienced and seven more years
- 37:27Speaker 7: of working out and getting himself to be an AHL
- 37:31Speaker 7: or NHL player, right, So I think he's doing all
- 37:34Speaker 7: those little things to help himself get better. And I've
- 37:36Speaker 7: noticed too, even this year he's so much stronger on
- 37:39Speaker 7: the puck than he was last year. A lot of
- 37:41Speaker 7: times he go to the corner and get bumped out
- 37:43Speaker 7: and you know, have to kind of work a little
- 37:46Speaker 7: bit extra to just get the puck in the offensive
- 37:48Speaker 7: zone and keep it that way. But this year it's
- 37:51Speaker 7: it's more he's standing his ground on the corner. And
- 37:53Speaker 7: I think that's just the work that he's put in
- 37:55Speaker 7: during the offseason, all the extra stuff he does in
- 37:58Speaker 7: the weight room. So I think it's just a matter
- 38:01Speaker 7: of time. As you said, it's it's more of a when,
- 38:04Speaker 7: not an if. And I think he's going to get
- 38:07Speaker 7: those He's going to have those tangibles at some point.
- 38:10Speaker 7: You know, some people grow faster than others, develop quicker
- 38:14Speaker 7: than others. Jagger's just about there. But again I think
- 38:18Speaker 7: maybe a couple more trips to in and out will
- 38:20Speaker 7: do him well.
- 38:23Speaker 4: For me in college at least, yev is the is
- 38:27Speaker 4: the most old school person on this panel of speakers.
- 38:30Speaker 4: I would be remiss if I did not ask about
- 38:32Speaker 4: Caden Hamill. Four goals, four assists and a couple of
- 38:36Speaker 4: big bouts with Alex as of late. Tell me about
- 38:40Speaker 4: this kid what stands out to you? Obviously he's a
- 38:43Speaker 4: tough kid to get in there with Glan, but just
- 38:46Speaker 4: expand on what maybe we or others have seen on
- 38:50Speaker 4: the on the highlights on on X.
- 38:52Speaker 7: Yeah, and I think something that I think really flies
- 38:55Speaker 7: under the radar with Cayden Hamill is his leadership experience.
- 38:58Speaker 7: He was the captain in Everett, which I'm sure a
- 39:00Speaker 7: lot of cracking fans know, and I'm you know, we
- 39:02Speaker 7: get all the people sharing for for Hamil on on
- 39:05Speaker 7: social media whenever he laces up the skates here, so
- 39:09Speaker 7: he maturity wise, he he has it right. He has
- 39:13Speaker 7: that leadership quality and guys kind of gravitate to him,
- 39:16Speaker 7: and he's kind of one of the leaders for the
- 39:18Speaker 7: for the younger cores of Firebirds. But yeah, that fight
- 39:22Speaker 7: with Alex, at least the first one. You could hear
- 39:25Speaker 7: it if you watch the highlight in Grant Fear's voice.
- 39:27Speaker 7: He he was a little worried for him. And you
- 39:31Speaker 7: know what I'm if you. I was looking back at
- 39:34Speaker 7: Cayden's stats and he's not a fighter. That's not really
- 39:37Speaker 7: his going. He didn't have a ton of fights, he
- 39:41Speaker 7: didn't have a ton of penny minutes at least last year,
- 39:44Speaker 7: and we saw it kind of develop and Grant kind
- 39:47Speaker 7: of like tap me. He was like ohh and like okay,
- 39:50Speaker 7: we'll see how this goes. And then he knocked him
- 39:52Speaker 7: out and in these three five punches and you know,
- 39:56Speaker 7: Hamil's landed the best of the of the ten combined,
- 40:00Speaker 7: and we didn't know, no one knew what he had
- 40:03Speaker 7: him in him at that point, and you know, that
- 40:05Speaker 7: was really cool to see. And of course you have
- 40:07Speaker 7: the gladiator celebration after which you know right away you're like, well,
- 40:11Speaker 7: I don't think Alex Galan's gonna like that very much
- 40:13Speaker 7: for the Wranglers, but you know, kudos for for Hamil.
- 40:16Speaker 7: He started that fight and then in Calgary had to
- 40:20Speaker 7: answer the bell again and he did willingly and it
- 40:22Speaker 7: was a pretty good scrap too. Held his own again,
- 40:24Speaker 7: you know, kind of lost his balance towards the end
- 40:26Speaker 7: of it. But you know, he's another guy who's who's
- 40:29Speaker 7: a smart player. He's he's a he's a mature guy
- 40:32Speaker 7: on the ice, just solid, you know, four goals for assists, uh,
- 40:37Speaker 7: you can find the back of the net. Can help
- 40:38Speaker 7: out quite a bit. And he's a physical guy, as
- 40:41Speaker 7: we've seen plenty of times on on our social media
- 40:44Speaker 7: channels and whatnot. So he's to kind of have in
- 40:47Speaker 7: the locker room for for a lot of these players
- 40:49Speaker 7: as well. And you know what, I I just think
- 40:52Speaker 7: he has a really great future. And again we didn't
- 40:55Speaker 7: know he had that physical side until he dropped the
- 40:57Speaker 7: gloves with one of the league stuff is. So we'll see,
- 40:59Speaker 7: we'll see who else would want to go toe to
- 41:01Speaker 7: toe with them.
- 41:02Speaker 6: Evan, do you think that this comes from more of
- 41:04Speaker 6: the players the crack and are drafting and signing are
- 41:07Speaker 6: more from the edict up above to get tougher, drop
- 41:10Speaker 6: the mit start to develop more of a rough, round
- 41:13Speaker 6: the edge type of game.
- 41:14Speaker 7: I'm not entirely sure what the message is physicality wise,
- 41:17Speaker 7: but you know, if you want to separate yourself from
- 41:19Speaker 7: others right now, I think that is kind of the
- 41:22Speaker 7: best way to do it. And you saw it over
- 41:24Speaker 7: the first couple of games that Jacob Alonson's played this year,
- 41:27Speaker 7: right he had seven hits in his first game, which
- 41:29Speaker 7: is a that's a crack and single game record, I
- 41:31Speaker 7: believe it was. And that's just the style of play
- 41:34Speaker 7: that he kind of works with. And Hammel similarly, you know,
- 41:37Speaker 7: they're there are guys who are you know, they bring
- 41:39Speaker 7: their physicality to separate themselves. So there's you know, the
- 41:43Speaker 7: NHL there, there's not a ton of guys like that anymore.
- 41:46Speaker 7: It's kind of staying away from, you know, the big
- 41:49Speaker 7: open ice hits, which obviously are dangerous that they're not
- 41:51Speaker 7: done correctly. If you're not you know, obviously you don't
- 41:54Speaker 7: want to aim for a guy's head or whatnot. But
- 41:56Speaker 7: there are still there's still room for you know, getting
- 41:59Speaker 7: into the core and winning battles, and I think that's
- 42:02Speaker 7: really what has been kind of the separation for some
- 42:06Speaker 7: of these guys is the physicality and their ability to win.
- 42:09Speaker 6: Those players at Calgary, by the way, the crack and
- 42:11Speaker 6: had twenty four hits. Guess who had eleven of them?
- 42:14Speaker 6: Ty card Shape, Ben Myers, Jacob Malanson, fourth line.
- 42:17Speaker 7: The firebird way, maybe the way.
- 42:20Speaker 3: You know, it's funny a lot of times you see
- 42:23Speaker 3: players change and alter their game by adding that physical element.
- 42:28Speaker 3: I remember hearing a story about Jamal Mayer's longtime NHLer
- 42:32Speaker 3: who was a goal scorer in junior and couldn't quite
- 42:35Speaker 3: crack it in the NHL, and then he started taking
- 42:37Speaker 3: boxing lessons. He started his ticket to the NHL. Is
- 42:40Speaker 3: going to be a tough guy. Maybe not so much
- 42:43Speaker 3: with the toughness of the fighting, But who else down
- 42:46Speaker 3: in CV have you seen their game evolve and.
- 42:50Speaker 1: Change maybe from when you first saw them to where
- 42:53Speaker 1: they are now in terms.
- 42:55Speaker 3: Of the strides they're taking to get to this level.
- 42:57Speaker 7: Oh that's a really good question. I'm gonna have to
- 42:59Speaker 7: think about this for a second. Uh who and you
- 43:05Speaker 7: know what if it is Malanson?
- 43:07Speaker 1: Who listen? Molanson was a fifty goal scorer two years ago.
- 43:10Speaker 7: I think that's gonna be my answer, because you know
- 43:12Speaker 7: what he you just mentioned he scored a lot in
- 43:15Speaker 7: junior and he's always kind of played that way with
- 43:18Speaker 7: physicality and fighting, what that and whatnot. But he is
- 43:23Speaker 7: a guy who has embraced the role. He knows that,
- 43:25Speaker 7: you know, he's not a first line guy in the
- 43:27Speaker 7: in the American Hockey League right now, but he knows that,
- 43:30Speaker 7: you know, he can make more of an impact by
- 43:32Speaker 7: throwing the body around, and you know he does score
- 43:34Speaker 7: goals too. He can kind of do it all. He's
- 43:37Speaker 7: he's a kind of a Swiss army knife in terms
- 43:39Speaker 7: of his style of play. So just to see like
- 43:43Speaker 7: him evolve in the way that he can kind of
- 43:46Speaker 7: pick and choose the situation of what he uses for everything,
- 43:50Speaker 7: I think that's that's been really cool to see. Right
- 43:53Speaker 7: off the top, I got one more for you, PIV.
- 43:56Speaker 3: You know you have had the privilege of following in
- 43:59Speaker 3: a long line of great bowling Green falcon Here we go,
- 44:04Speaker 3: here we go, here, we could wrap it up.
- 44:07Speaker 5: We're on this trip.
- 44:08Speaker 6: By the way, in LA there'll be plenty of a
- 44:10Speaker 6: ZEUSA specific talk to balance all.
- 44:11Speaker 7: This outs I'm just continued with Steve me.
- 44:14Speaker 5: Warning shots, warning shot.
- 44:20Speaker 1: No, that's all I got.
- 44:22Speaker 7: I just wanted to bring it up again.
- 44:23Speaker 4: Huh.
- 44:25Speaker 5: Ye had to hit his quota daily quota.
- 44:27Speaker 7: Yep, that's fine.
- 44:28Speaker 1: I was, I was.
- 44:29Speaker 7: I was talking about Bowling Green today. I was on
- 44:31Speaker 7: a call, uh, because we have our Cactus Cup coming
- 44:33Speaker 7: up January second and third at Acriture Arena. It's four
- 44:37Speaker 7: college hockey teams, Yale, Saint Clouds State, UMass, Lowell in
- 44:42Speaker 7: Minnesota State, and uh, you know, they were they were
- 44:45Speaker 7: talking to me about a couple of things. I was like, hey,
- 44:47Speaker 7: I know, college hockey lived through it. I love to
- 44:50Speaker 7: go back to college.
- 44:51Speaker 1: We got to get Bowling Green in one of these tournaments.
- 44:53Speaker 3: Though.
- 44:53Speaker 7: I'll to a tournament. I'm coming down. Yeah, I'm in it.
- 44:58Speaker 6: You're not just gonna be there, You're gonna be the
- 45:00Speaker 6: on the bench, guest, celebrity, coach.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Listen.
- 45:04Speaker 7: I've not been to a fan I've not been.
- 45:07Speaker 6: Updated odds courtesy Crack and Weekly minus nine hundred.
- 45:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I've not been to a Bowling Green game as
- 45:13Speaker 3: a fan since my sophomore year at college. So that's
- 45:16Speaker 3: two thousand and seven to eight sophomore junior year, So
- 45:21Speaker 3: I'm overdue.
- 45:22Speaker 7: I don't think. I don't think I've ever been to
- 45:25Speaker 7: a Bowling Green hockey game as a fan. Yeah all, wow, yeah?
- 45:28Speaker 7: Could you start the freshman year? Wow? Yeah, I don't
- 45:31Speaker 7: think I've ever been as a fan.
- 45:33Speaker 5: When was your last games?
- 45:35Speaker 7: Going to hang out here and talk talk BG hockey.
- 45:38Speaker 5: Forv When was your last game as a fan?
- 45:40Speaker 7: Though?
- 45:41Speaker 5: Period?
- 45:41Speaker 7: Like in general? When we were in Calgary last week
- 45:46Speaker 7: we went to a Flames Buffalo Sabers game.
- 45:49Speaker 5: How many folks ask you is it different? Is it weird?
- 45:52Speaker 5: Not working versus watching?
- 45:54Speaker 7: It's it is weird. It people do ask me that,
- 45:57Speaker 7: and it is weird. I'm sure you guys can relate
- 45:58Speaker 7: to it as well. You kind of feel like you're
- 46:02Speaker 7: missing out on something. It's like I should be doing
- 46:04Speaker 7: something right now. But also, like I think, working in
- 46:06Speaker 7: it too kind of opens your eyes to all the
- 46:08Speaker 7: other stuff that's going on in the arena. Like I
- 46:10Speaker 7: always notice, like even if I'm in a baseball game
- 46:13Speaker 7: or other sporting event, like I pay more attention to
- 46:15Speaker 7: the game presentation and the stuff they had on the scoreboard,
- 46:18Speaker 7: the music they're playing, the sponsors and stuff like that.
- 46:21Speaker 7: I think that working like from the ETHHL standpoint, working
- 46:24Speaker 7: my way up, but like you're more involved in that stuff.
- 46:27Speaker 7: So it's cool to see how they do all that stuff.
- 46:29Speaker 7: And then you get some ideas and bring them back
- 46:31Speaker 7: to people who are like, oh, well that's great, We're
- 46:33Speaker 7: not going to do it, but it's fine.
- 46:34Speaker 5: We're going to be in the build.
- 46:35Speaker 6: Yeah, we are going to be in the building coming
- 46:37Speaker 6: up tomorrow night for a game against Sannaheim, the side
- 46:40Speaker 6: of one of my most favorite stories ever of me
- 46:44Speaker 6: watching the game as a fan. And again, it does
- 46:46Speaker 6: get bizarre trying to separate work from pleasure and experience.
- 46:51Speaker 5: But this involved my wife.
- 46:52Speaker 6: When my kid, my oldest kid, was six months old,
- 46:55Speaker 6: we were at my parents' house in Los Angeles. They
- 46:58Speaker 6: moved since then, and I wanted to take Amy out
- 47:01Speaker 6: just for a night to get away. She was open
- 47:03Speaker 6: to this, and through a friend in the Ducks organization
- 47:07Speaker 6: back then, he got his ticket to Game five of
- 47:10Speaker 6: the Western Conference Final between the Blackhawks and the Ducks.
- 47:13Speaker 6: It was our first night out without our oldest son,
- 47:17Speaker 6: and of course Amy bean mama. And there's a lot
- 47:20Speaker 6: of moms who can relate here to this. Your first
- 47:22Speaker 6: night out is not exactly your easiest. But Lucas was
- 47:26Speaker 6: in good hands, Grandma, Grandpa taking care of him, having
- 47:29Speaker 6: a good time. They're sending his photos everything. She could
- 47:32Speaker 6: not wait for this game to end. And Hi tail
- 47:36Speaker 6: at back up, I five north at eighty five miles
- 47:39Speaker 6: an hour to get back home to our first born son.
- 47:42Speaker 6: I'm telling her he's fine, he's in good hands. He's fine,
- 47:46Speaker 6: he's in good hands.
- 47:47Speaker 5: For Blackhawks. Yeah, biggest DA mistake I made it. I
- 47:53Speaker 5: made at that point, and there have been Dad mistakes.
- 47:55Speaker 6: The Blackhawks go up three or the Ducks go up
- 47:58Speaker 6: three to one, and thinking, okay, great, this game is
- 48:01Speaker 6: the bagger.
- 48:01Speaker 5: We can get out here, we get out of here.
- 48:03Speaker 6: All of a sudden, Jonathan Taves turns into full blown
- 48:05Speaker 6: Mark Messier and scores two goals extra attacker in the
- 48:09Speaker 6: last one minute and thirty seconds of regulation. Game five
- 48:13Speaker 6: is tied, and she's losing her mind. So then intermission
- 48:17Speaker 6: over time. Long story short, Matt Bulaski scores the game
- 48:21Speaker 6: winning goal.
- 48:21Speaker 5: For the Ducks. I kid you not.
- 48:24Speaker 6: By the time the puck was halfway going into the net,
- 48:27Speaker 6: I'm seeing her sprint right down the stairs to get
- 48:30Speaker 6: out of her like wait, wait, wait, it's just a
- 48:33Speaker 6: fun story to point out, Like up there in the
- 48:35Speaker 6: upper corner of Hanness Center was where I had to
- 48:37Speaker 6: race after my wife trying to get back home after
- 48:39Speaker 6: Game five.
- 48:40Speaker 7: It's like that one. I think it's the Boston Red
- 48:43Speaker 7: Sox season ticket holder. Have you guys seen the one
- 48:45Speaker 7: where like he leaves, like as soon as the game ends,
- 48:49Speaker 7: you can see him like get up, And I think
- 48:50Speaker 7: it was like David Ortiz had a walk off. I'm
- 48:52Speaker 7: running the playoffs and the second and left his bat
- 48:54Speaker 7: like he ran to the exit. Yeh, hey even celebratings.
- 49:00Speaker 5: Ran before we get out of here.
- 49:03Speaker 6: By the time we wrap this up, of course, in
- 49:06Speaker 6: the wake, we'll be another Teddy bear Toss game. What's
- 49:08Speaker 6: so special about this event? Year after year on the
- 49:12Speaker 6: Firebirds side out in the desert.
- 49:15Speaker 7: It's really cool to see our fans, especially some newer
- 49:18Speaker 7: hockey fans, adapting to the teddy bear toss tradition. Every
- 49:22Speaker 7: year it's gotten better, and I think this year where
- 49:25Speaker 7: we're kind of honing in on why the Teddy bear
- 49:28Speaker 7: Toss has done instead of how many bears can we
- 49:31Speaker 7: bring to the game, Right, So we've partnered with local
- 49:34Speaker 7: fire departments, paramedics, police departments to get these bears to
- 49:38Speaker 7: children and need children who have gone through something maybe
- 49:42Speaker 7: traumatic and need a little bit of cheering up at,
- 49:45Speaker 7: you know, in certain scenarios. So that's what our Teddy
- 49:48Speaker 7: Bears are going towards. That's why we are We're doing
- 49:51Speaker 7: what we're doing, and we're trying to make it the
- 49:53Speaker 7: best as possible. We've had Teddy Bear collection going on
- 49:55Speaker 7: pretty much for the last week so people can bring
- 49:59Speaker 7: even more airs to the game. So looking forward to
- 50:02Speaker 7: seeing them fly and it should be, uh, it should
- 50:06Speaker 7: be a lot of fun. And then I'm curious to
- 50:07Speaker 7: see who's gonna be the the goal scorer tonight.
- 50:10Speaker 1: Do you have your call ready?
- 50:12Speaker 7: No, I I don't. I mean I I could go
- 50:16Speaker 7: into the ever it fits you bag of tricks and
- 50:19Speaker 7: do the show me your Teddies. I could do that.
- 50:22Speaker 7: I won't because I have to show me your teddies.
- 50:26Speaker 1: Yeah, my favorite one.
- 50:30Speaker 7: I don't know, there's I gotta find some something. I'm
- 50:34Speaker 7: not a huge catchphrase guy, but I gotta feel that
- 50:37Speaker 7: one's an appropriate one because it's just if all.
- 50:39Speaker 6: Else fails, he shoots, he scores is totally fine, you
- 50:42Speaker 6: know what I mean.
- 50:42Speaker 5: The crowd all else fail, but I.
- 50:47Speaker 7: Wants to highlight for for the Crack and Audio network,
- 50:50Speaker 7: so I won't. I'm not gonna dip out and let
- 50:52Speaker 7: the crowd take control of the whole.
- 50:54Speaker 6: Have it locked and loaded CV, Firebirds dot Com or
- 50:56Speaker 6: info right there on what was again a great Teddy
- 50:59Speaker 6: Beard toss game. PIV looking forward to having around our
- 51:02Speaker 6: parts as we fly into not too far away from
- 51:05Speaker 6: your parts as well. But in the meantime, Happy holidays,
- 51:08Speaker 6: Merry Christmas, and when that bowling green game gets going,
- 51:11Speaker 6: I'll leave it to you into fist to arm muscle
- 51:13Speaker 6: here who for who takes the ceremonial face off?
- 51:16Speaker 7: Hey yeah, off against each other? Yeah all, I appreciate it, guys,
- 51:21Speaker 7: thanks so much.
- 51:22Speaker 6: All right, what a beauty Evan Pivnick joining us broadcast
- 51:24Speaker 6: boys of the Coachella Valley Firebirds, as we're gonna wrap
- 51:27Speaker 6: this up in just a bit here from Honda Center,
- 51:29Speaker 6: Cracking Ducks here tonight, Crack in Los Angeles Kings tomorrow
- 51:32Speaker 6: at Crypto dot Com Arena, and.
- 51:34Speaker 5: Then we say happy Holidays to you. For four days our.
- 51:38Speaker 6: Mailbag segment, we're gonna revide this once again. You can
- 51:41Speaker 6: find me on Twitter and next at Benton Underscore Mike,
- 51:44Speaker 6: and we're gonna jump into it right now. Scott palis saying,
- 51:47Speaker 6: we have some good players every montour Baniers, McCann, Schwarz, Accord,
- 51:51Speaker 6: Larsen Wright. But what's the likelihood of adding to that
- 51:56Speaker 6: where the crack and either trade for superstar talent or
- 51:59Speaker 6: acquire one as well in free agency? He raises questions
- 52:02Speaker 6: here on the roster.
- 52:03Speaker 3: That from Scott, Yeah, you know, it's it's funny. I
- 52:06Speaker 3: always I answer this question the same way every time
- 52:09Speaker 3: I hear it. You have to work the problem backwards. Okay,
- 52:12Speaker 3: if you're trying to trade someone, okay, look at who
- 52:15Speaker 3: you have and if you were Team X were in Anaheim.
- 52:19Speaker 3: Let's say you're the Anaheim Ducks. Okay, I look at
- 52:21Speaker 3: the Krakens roster. Who on the Krakens roster do I
- 52:24Speaker 3: as Anaheim one? That is where that trade discussion starts.
- 52:28Speaker 3: You're not gonna get Connor McDavid for two seven cent
- 52:31Speaker 3: a bag of pucks, right, You're gonna have to give
- 52:33Speaker 3: up some good players. So I do think when you're
- 52:35Speaker 3: talking about trades that always comes plays a factor free
- 52:39Speaker 3: agency wise. When when you're adding pieces, especially in the
- 52:42Speaker 3: summer or whatever the case may be, it's it's a
- 52:45Speaker 3: sales job, right. You're trying to sell people on the market.
- 52:48Speaker 3: You're selling your family. You know, you're selling the wife
- 52:51Speaker 3: and the kids on coming to Seattle. And you know,
- 52:54Speaker 3: I go back to what Brandon Montur said this summertime,
- 52:57Speaker 3: Seattle really wanted me my family. We felt at home here.
- 53:00Speaker 3: Chandler Stevens in same thing. The team wanted me my
- 53:04Speaker 3: family and I felt comfortable, We felt welcome and warm
- 53:07Speaker 3: here in Seattle. That's where I think a lot of
- 53:10Speaker 3: that starts. And also winning helps, and I think unfortunately
- 53:13Speaker 3: the Kraken haven't gotten as many wins as I think
- 53:16Speaker 3: a lot of us would have liked the scene. But
- 53:18Speaker 3: you're still a fairly new team. You're still trying to
- 53:20Speaker 3: grow and build in that direction. So there's always a
- 53:22Speaker 3: possibility to add, but you have to work the problem,
- 53:25Speaker 3: I think from both sides.
- 53:27Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a great point. I like the analogy of
- 53:30Speaker 4: working the problem backwards. I think about the Quinn Hughes trade.
- 53:33Speaker 4: I mean, every team is interested in Quinn Hughes, but
- 53:37Speaker 4: Vancouver wanted a certain return on that trade, and it
- 53:43Speaker 4: sounds like there were five or six teams that were
- 53:45Speaker 4: interested that we're talking to Vancouver, but not all of
- 53:48Speaker 4: them could provide what Vancouver wanted. So to your point
- 53:50Speaker 4: about working the problem backwards, if you're looking for a
- 53:53Speaker 4: certain piece, you've got to find the team that has
- 53:56Speaker 4: that piece. You've got to talk to them about are
- 53:58Speaker 4: they interested in moving that piece, and if they are,
- 54:00Speaker 4: what do they want in return? And if you don't
- 54:02Speaker 4: have what they want, trade's not going to happen.
- 54:04Speaker 6: It's also a relationship based game two as well that
- 54:08Speaker 6: matters the most, And I think some folks have the
- 54:11Speaker 6: presumption that it works like fantasy football, baseball, hockey, whatever,
- 54:16Speaker 6: you can just call any GM up. But it really
- 54:19Speaker 6: is an arbitrary business here where it depends on the
- 54:21Speaker 6: relationship and how much you've worked with opposing GM and
- 54:25Speaker 6: how much that can also warm the pot and affect
- 54:27Speaker 6: the pot as well well.
- 54:28Speaker 3: That too, and also I think it's easy to point
- 54:31Speaker 3: the finger at the GM and say he's not making moves,
- 54:35Speaker 3: he's not improving this team. It takes two to tango.
- 54:37Speaker 3: I can call as much as I want, Hey, Team A,
- 54:41Speaker 3: B or C want to do a deal, if they
- 54:43Speaker 3: say no, I can't force you to make a trade.
- 54:45Speaker 3: So how so we don't know And that's the problem
- 54:48Speaker 3: or not the problem. That's that's one of the big
- 54:50Speaker 3: things in the NHL is that there is so much secrecy.
- 54:53Speaker 3: Guys don't want stuff getting out, which I can understand
- 54:56Speaker 3: and I get that.
- 54:57Speaker 5: So you know, they're in the information the act it
- 55:00Speaker 5: makes as part of it.
- 55:01Speaker 3: So just because there hasn't been any movement made doesn't
- 55:06Speaker 3: mean the Kraken aren't trying to improve, doesn't mean gms
- 55:09Speaker 3: aren't trying to improve.
- 55:11Speaker 1: For all we know, Jason Bostrell could have.
- 55:13Speaker 3: Called all thirty one teams with trades and with proposals
- 55:17Speaker 3: and they could have all said, eh, thanks for no thanks.
- 55:19Speaker 5: We don't know that.
- 55:20Speaker 1: So I think a little bit of understanding in that
- 55:24Speaker 1: realm is required.
- 55:25Speaker 6: To And this leads me into this next question from
- 55:28Speaker 6: Tyler saying, what can you point to within the organization here?
- 55:31Speaker 6: This is going to get better And we can answer
- 55:34Speaker 6: this in about six different ways here at this point,
- 55:38Speaker 6: but I want to go back here to ultimately the
- 55:40Speaker 6: very top and that there is a desire to win.
- 55:44Speaker 6: I mean, you heard this from Jason Botteroll way back
- 55:46Speaker 6: in his opening press conference. You heard it again about
- 55:49Speaker 6: a few weeks ago as well, how much young players
- 55:52Speaker 6: are going to pay the way here for this so
- 55:56Speaker 6: when they worked their way up the lineup, matter of question.
- 56:00Speaker 6: But ultimately there is the end game here to have
- 56:04Speaker 6: Bertley Catton become a catalyst here, to have Shane Wright
- 56:08Speaker 6: take the next step, to add Matty Beneer take the
- 56:10Speaker 6: next step. Maybe Jacobrien as well slides in and he's
- 56:14Speaker 6: one of your top six guys here on this roster.
- 56:17Speaker 6: Where you add to that, I think depends upon where
- 56:20Speaker 6: each person plays. To say, I'm just throwing this out there.
- 56:23Speaker 6: For example, say if you make a trade here for
- 56:25Speaker 6: a top line center that could move someone like Beneer's
- 56:28Speaker 6: down right down, that's a pretty solid spine you got
- 56:31Speaker 6: going up and down. Then factoring and also Chandler's team's
- 56:34Speaker 6: in here to this mix, not a bad equation right now.
- 56:37Speaker 5: So I think there's there's.
- 56:40Speaker 6: Ultimately, from from what we've learned, what we are told,
- 56:42Speaker 6: what we've heard as well, there is a resistance here
- 56:46Speaker 6: to stand pat with what's going on right now. I mean,
- 56:48Speaker 6: I would say this last eleven games, it has been very,
- 56:52Speaker 6: very frustrating for a lot of people.
- 56:54Speaker 5: We hear from the inside. Al you've heard it.
- 56:55Speaker 6: Vice, You've heard it as well, And I think this
- 56:58Speaker 6: is why they are still maybe exploring a move to
- 57:02Speaker 6: shape things up. And I think Mason Marshman might have
- 57:04Speaker 6: been to the iceberg.
- 57:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that.
- 57:06Speaker 4: You know, you can rest assured that the Jason moderl
- 57:11Speaker 4: will never stop calling those other thirty one teams to
- 57:14Speaker 4: find out what they're looking for, what we might be
- 57:17Speaker 4: looking to sell. That's number one, So those conversations are ongoing.
- 57:21Speaker 4: To the earlier point. It has to work for both people, though,
- 57:24Speaker 4: so the conversations continue whether or not it works or not,
- 57:28Speaker 4: that's the part that needs to be sorted out. Number two,
- 57:31Speaker 4: there are lots of lots of youth in the in
- 57:33Speaker 4: the in the pipeline, and you know you can talk
- 57:36Speaker 4: about who can play right now that can positively impact
- 57:40Speaker 4: this team. I think that's a tougher question to answer
- 57:43Speaker 4: than if this team is not in the playoff picture
- 57:47Speaker 4: come March, come late February, do you bring a Jacob
- 57:51Speaker 4: Brian up and let them play a few games, Because
- 57:53Speaker 4: now you're you're talking about development, you're not talking about winning.
- 57:56Speaker 8: Because that play and they'll be ahl eligible this next
- 57:59Speaker 8: season because that picture has closed, and you know, as
- 58:02Speaker 8: much as you don't want it to, at a certain point,
- 58:04Speaker 8: you understand it has and you have to start thinking about, Okay, now,
- 58:08Speaker 8: how can I develop that pipeline.
- 58:10Speaker 4: I got to start thinking about Tyson jug Knaf so
- 58:12Speaker 4: I gotta start thinking about Oscar fiscoolers to get them
- 58:15Speaker 4: ready for the next season, because you want to give
- 58:17Speaker 4: them as much NHL experience as you can, so that
- 58:20Speaker 4: come training camp, come preseason, come those first few games
- 58:23Speaker 4: of next season. You know they don't have, you know,
- 58:26Speaker 4: eyes like teacups going wow, the NHL. They've already seen it.
- 58:28Speaker 4: They've already seen it in February March, and they're they're
- 58:30Speaker 4: good to go. So you're trying to do that if
- 58:33Speaker 4: it's the other way around and you are in that
- 58:35Speaker 4: hunt for the playoff spot, now you're only looking at
- 58:38Speaker 4: who can positively impact this team this year, can help
- 58:41Speaker 4: them get that playoff spot, could potentially be in the
- 58:44Speaker 4: playoffs and have an impact. And I think that's a
- 58:46Speaker 4: different answer than if they're not.
- 58:50Speaker 6: This leaves me here because you hinted at this. Our
- 58:53Speaker 6: next question from Pierre is there anybody in Coachell Le
- 58:55Speaker 6: Valley who can give the crack and a jump start
- 58:58Speaker 6: at the pemn that kind of gave us a little
- 58:59Speaker 6: bit of a taken Standing.
- 59:01Speaker 1: Right here, we can probably ask him right well, I.
- 59:05Speaker 6: Go back to again, how much of an impact that
- 59:07Speaker 6: Oscar Fisker Mulgard made in this couple of games up here,
- 59:11Speaker 6: and there have been so many I think great takeaways
- 59:14Speaker 6: from how his game translates at the NHL level, Jagger Fercus.
- 59:19Speaker 5: If you want to make the argument.
- 59:20Speaker 6: That he's got to grow a little bit more, maybe, surefine,
- 59:23Speaker 6: but he is producing right now and I think eventually
- 59:25Speaker 6: that's going to earn a look. But I'm really curious
- 59:29Speaker 6: down the road if there's another injury bug going through
- 59:32Speaker 6: the defensive corps what this might mean for saying somebody
- 59:36Speaker 6: like Tyson Jugnaut as well.
- 59:37Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think too, you're getting to the point
- 59:40Speaker 3: now year five of this team's existence, you've got five drafts.
- 59:44Speaker 1: Under your belt.
- 59:45Speaker 3: You're starting to see these prospects come up into pro hockey,
- 59:48Speaker 3: either graduating from juniors or their European leagues, whatever the
- 59:52Speaker 3: case may be. And again, unfortunately because of injury. Unfortunately,
- 59:58Speaker 3: because of State Ending's placement. You're going to start seeing
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: more of these guys come up, and you really don't
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: know what you have until you see what they can
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: do with this level. So, you know, I love that
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: Jaggerfercus is crushing it down in CV and that Oscar
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: Fisker Moleguard is doing well, and you're seeing these guys
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: start to put it together from the pro hockey level,
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: But at the end of the day, you want to
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: see what they can do with the NHL level, and
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: you're hoping that, Hey, you know, they're coming up and
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: they're producing well. Unfortunately, when you do see a lot
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: of prospects, that usually means your season isn't going the
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: way that you want it to go up here at
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: the big club. So it's kind of a catch twenty two.
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: I want to see what these prospects have against NHL talent,
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: against bigger, better, stronger competition. Because we've been saying now
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: for so long, the kids are coming, the kids are coming. Well,
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: the kids are here, right, and we've seen what Maddy
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: Beneers can do, Riker Evans, Shane right, Jonny Newman's.
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: Way basically a hit every shift.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: Yes he did.
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: Ryan Winterton, Ty Karchi, all of these Joy Decord, all
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: of these guys have spent years in the minors and
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: we've now seen what they can do at the NHL level.
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: So we've seen that first wave of kids, and now
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: you're going to start to see a lot more of
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: the skill players that we've heard a lot about coming
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: in right your your Jagger Fercuses, Your, your Carson Ray Coops,
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: Jake O'Brien. I think he's second in the OHL in scoring,
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: right so Berkeley Catton. We we've gotten a five five
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: assists to his first twenty some out of games. So
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: you're starting to get a look at these kids. But
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: I want to see more of what they can do
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: with this level, and you know, hopefully under the right circumstances,
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: we'll be able to see that by the end of
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: the year.
- 1:01:42Speaker 6: Next time we get through to our next show, we're
- 1:01:45Speaker 6: going to have four more games lopped off, which means
- 1:01:49Speaker 6: for the Kraken after this one, you have Los Angeles
- 1:01:52Speaker 6: coming up. You take the break, and then you had
- 1:01:55Speaker 6: the Philadelphia Flyers and the Vancouver Canucks right back at home.
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: There were a point within that whole sphere.
- 1:02:02Speaker 6: They played Anaheim well but Anaheim is a lot more talented,
- 1:02:06Speaker 6: even though they are still young. The Kings are always
- 1:02:09Speaker 6: a tough out, especially with how they played defensively. But
- 1:02:11Speaker 6: I think the last game showed some promise. The Flyers,
- 1:02:14Speaker 6: I think got even better than the last time that
- 1:02:16Speaker 6: we saw them back in Philadelphia.
- 1:02:19Speaker 5: And the Canucks.
- 1:02:20Speaker 6: We'll see if this is going to be a new
- 1:02:22Speaker 6: and improved team or if this is only just a
- 1:02:24Speaker 6: sugar rush after the whole quinn Use trade. But you
- 1:02:26Speaker 6: factor in eight points off the table. Are you setting
- 1:02:29Speaker 6: the bar at five points, six points or something else?
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: Oh?
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: I think I'm setting the bar at a winning streak,
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: like again, eight points. Then this team, this team has
- 1:02:40Speaker 4: to think about what they need to do to get
- 1:02:42Speaker 4: in the playoffs. And I understand you've got injuries right now,
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: and that's that's hurting the lineup. But you've got to
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: come into each and every game saying this has to
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: be a win. We've got to go on a run.
- 1:02:53Speaker 4: We've got to do we've got to do what we
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: were able to do in the first part of the season,
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: you know, best starting franchise history to try and get
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: back into the playoff hunt. And and nothing short of
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: that should be accepted. Yeah, this team's gonna win games.
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: I mean, I'm looking. I'm gonna say six, six of
- 1:03:08Speaker 4: eight should be the low bar. Minimum six of minimum.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: I think six that minimum should be the low bar.
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: And if you can push, you know, game four to
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: to overtime and get a seventh point in there, if
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: you can final way to get a half point, maybe
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: seven and a half points of those eight, I think
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: that would be ideal for Seattle. But I mean, listen,
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: your you're seven points back of the cut line. Teams
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: ahead of you, they're only gonna keep winning, They're only
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: gonna keep getting better. So you know, you need to
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: find a way to keep pace. And I think for Seattle,
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: they've done it. We've seen them do it. The schedule
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: is not easy you're looking now. Tonight begins four consecutive
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: back to back series for Seattle, Anaheim, LA, then the
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: break Philadelphia, Vancouver, then two days off Nashville at home,
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: then at Vancouver, Calgary on the road, then Boston at home.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: You've got four eight games coming up in the next
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: two weeks. Eight games in thirteen ish days. That that
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: is hellacious, to just say the least. So for the Kraken,
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: you gotta get wins.
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: And I would just add to my eight point expectation is, yeah,
- 1:04:17Speaker 4: putting together a four win run five if you include
- 1:04:20Speaker 4: the Sentos eight win is difficult at the NHL level.
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: I get that, but these are all games that are
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: in division. Mike, Yeah, like you need these wins.
- 1:04:29Speaker 5: So yeah, absolutely, Anaheim LA and then Vancouver as well.
- 1:04:34Speaker 5: Back at home. All right, three stars and we're gonna
- 1:04:35Speaker 5: get out of here. I'll just start off here with this.
- 1:04:37Speaker 6: My third Star of the week will be Chandler Stevenson,
- 1:04:40Speaker 6: writing an eight game points scoring streak heading into the
- 1:04:44Speaker 6: Anaheim game. He is like more dialed in, he has
- 1:04:47Speaker 6: like more productive and it's making a difference. I think
- 1:04:50Speaker 6: both at five on five and as well how this
- 1:04:52Speaker 6: team moves the puck additionally on the power play. And
- 1:04:56Speaker 6: I can't help but think of many more goals he's scored.
- 1:04:59Speaker 6: And granted it was the finish, but how exquisite that
- 1:05:03Speaker 6: goalies scored in Calgary was. If it's the call, you
- 1:05:05Speaker 6: nailed it. And I think that the high level of
- 1:05:08Speaker 6: play that they've got to get from him, plus a
- 1:05:10Speaker 6: face off circle and what he can do is going
- 1:05:13Speaker 6: to make a big difference as well coming up short
- 1:05:16Speaker 6: term and also long term when this gets really crazy
- 1:05:19Speaker 6: and really busy coming up in January. My second star
- 1:05:22Speaker 6: is going to be Shane Wright, who earn the praise
- 1:05:24Speaker 6: of Lane Lambert. There's been more of a jump in
- 1:05:27Speaker 6: his game. But I think that the goal he scored
- 1:05:29Speaker 6: against Colorado in that rally back in the second period,
- 1:05:33Speaker 6: it wasn't off the prototypical Shane Wright shot. It was
- 1:05:37Speaker 6: just a mere dig, deep, compete goal, and I thought
- 1:05:41Speaker 6: if they had a chance, and they had the fighters
- 1:05:43Speaker 6: punch chance against Colorado, that's where they had to win.
- 1:05:46Speaker 5: That battle was the front of the net.
- 1:05:49Speaker 6: Third period, of course all fell apart, but I think
- 1:05:51Speaker 6: again we saw the blueprint that they have to put
- 1:05:54Speaker 6: into place, and granted it's got to get put in
- 1:05:56Speaker 6: the place asap consistently here, but you'd now have a roadmap,
- 1:06:01Speaker 6: you have something, and I think a goal like that
- 1:06:02Speaker 6: Shane RD scored is certainly a blueprint for him and
- 1:06:06Speaker 6: a blueprint here as well for this team. My first
- 1:06:08Speaker 6: star is Joey Decord, sensational as San Jose, sensational at
- 1:06:13Speaker 6: Calgary as well. I think from what we saw this
- 1:06:17Speaker 6: play around the injury that is now dissipating, and the
- 1:06:20Speaker 6: more and more that he's looking dialed in, especially from
- 1:06:23Speaker 6: the get go, there's a confidence, there's a swagger of
- 1:06:26Speaker 6: Joey Decord that has come right back, which gave the
- 1:06:29Speaker 6: Crack and once again a fighter's punch chance against San Jose.
- 1:06:32Speaker 6: And when you face what has it had here for
- 1:06:35Speaker 6: two Pacific Division games, tonight's short term. You get back home.
- 1:06:39Speaker 6: We'll see how they sput this up with Philip Grubauer
- 1:06:41Speaker 6: with Philadelphia and Vancouver.
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: But then again, the schedule gets busy.
- 1:06:45Speaker 6: That's the kind of game that you got to give
- 1:06:47Speaker 6: from Joey to Cord, and he gave this team a
- 1:06:48Speaker 6: chance against Calgary and help pull them through against San Jose.
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: Joey Decord is my first start. Yeah, for my third star,
- 1:06:55Speaker 4: I'm going to start with Ryker Evans. I thought that
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: was a big goal last game for him in the
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: San Jose win. And you know again, I will always
- 1:07:01Speaker 4: highlight the importance of getting some of your offense. The
- 1:07:04Speaker 4: Crack can get about thirty percent of their offense from
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: the blue line, and last game two big goals from
- 1:07:09Speaker 4: the blue line liningred and Riker Evans. So Ryker Evans
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: is my third star. I like the grit of his game.
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: I think with Montur out of the lineup, he's going
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: to get more minutes as well. He's going to anchor
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: that second power play. So maybe giving him my third
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: star also gives him a little confidence going into the
- 1:07:25Speaker 4: next week. Second star is going to be uh Chandler
- 1:07:28Speaker 4: Stavenson because again, you know when you're when you're getting
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: points in eight games goals in four, it puts a
- 1:07:35Speaker 4: lot more, you know, responsibility on his shoulders when we
- 1:07:39Speaker 4: Can and Schwartz are out of the lineup, and he
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: seems to be embracing that. He's your best face off man.
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: I love how he works out there with Freddy Gadrou
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: Depending on which side of the ice is on, he'll
- 1:07:48Speaker 4: throw Freddie into the face off off because he's stronger
- 1:07:50Speaker 4: on that side. So that shows leadership on his part.
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: Channer Stevenson is my second star, and then I agree
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: with you, Mike. First star has got to be Joey
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: to Court. I think that when your goal is putting
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: you in a position to win hockey games, two goals
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: or less, three goals are less if your goaltender can
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: keep you to three goals or less every single game
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: he puts you in a position and I think Joey
- 1:08:11Speaker 4: gives more than that. Often it's two or less and
- 1:08:14Speaker 4: that nine seven to two save percentage in San Jose
- 1:08:17Speaker 4: was a big part of that.
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: Yeah, my this this was a tough one.
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: There's there's a few ways I could have gone with this,
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: but I'm gonna I'm gonna get my third start of
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: the power play. They've got goals in three of the
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: last four, seven power play goals in the last seven games.
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: And we've talked about how special teams has been so
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: up and so down this season.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: Well we're seeing the up from the power play in
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: a recent games. So they're my third star.
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: La to olvan end He's got points in six of eight,
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: three in a row coming into tonight, so I think
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: he's been playing well. We asked him the other night
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: how he's liked his game, what he's been noticing about
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: his games in recent weeks. He feels he's harder on
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: the puck. He's got a lot of confidence rowing right now.
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: So I love how he's playing. And then Chadler Stevenson
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: for me, and he's my number one star, you know,
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: career best four game goal streak, eight game points streak
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: for him, and I think he's been quietly continuing to
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: be a leader on this team, both.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: On the ice and off the ice.
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: He gets so much undeserved hate from the fan base
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: and from other folks in the media about his goals
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: above expected under the sixtieth percentile. I don't I don't know,
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: I don't understand it, but I think that he has
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: continued to be one of the best players on this
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: team on a nightly basis. And you know, if you
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: watch him play the games, forget about what the advanced
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: stats say, open your eyes, watch him play the game,
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: and he is one of the better players on the
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: ice every single night.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: So he gets my number one star very quick.
- 1:09:45Speaker 6: Any holiday plans and he holiday greetings also out there well.
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: Sansa Kaniski was very very kind and thoughtful and bought
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: myself a new collection for my bourbon from a new
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: piece from my bourbon collection, and so I'm gonna try
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: some of that. And Wes is so excited for Christmas
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: this year, so I'm gonna be at home.
- 1:10:06Speaker 6: Santa Kiniski also dropped into He treated us very very
- 1:10:09Speaker 6: well in the event and house.
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: My plans, My plans are to have a full glass,
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: a full belly, and a full heart with my son
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: and my family.
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: Yeah, Mike, I've got a twenty pound roast sitting in
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: the fridge, rooling right now, resting, just resting and waiting
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: for me. Right now. I'm gonna cover that thing with
- 1:10:27Speaker 4: a little olive oil, some salt and pepper, sear it
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: on the grill, just to get a little crust on
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: the outside, and then in the lowest temperature in my
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: other at one seventy until that thing hits about one
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: oh five one ten, take it out, wrap it, let
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: it sit for half an hour, and then slice that beau.
- 1:10:41Speaker 6: See, when we all grow up, it's all about food
- 1:10:43Speaker 6: and beverages and family. Right That's that's that's the real
- 1:10:46Speaker 6: deal here. I also my family will be around too,
- 1:10:48Speaker 6: and we'll yeah, yeah, yeah, party going down to the
- 1:10:50Speaker 6: Kiniski household. Anyway you want to wish my family as well,
- 1:10:52Speaker 6: happy holidays. We're gonna keep this very small, very intimate.
- 1:10:57Speaker 6: And then once Christmas is all done, a couple of
- 1:10:59Speaker 6: days is Great Wolf Lodges coming up here for a
- 1:11:02Speaker 6: family vac and then we'll jump right back into the
- 1:11:05Speaker 6: bat to back.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: Hold on real quick, Mike, where are you gonna be
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: tonight tomorrow?
- 1:11:10Speaker 5: In the radio?
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: Yeah, let's go.
- 1:11:12Speaker 6: I have been in this building and in LA one
- 1:11:15Speaker 6: hundred times. It never gets old, right back where I
- 1:11:19Speaker 6: grew up nearby.
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: This will be your second NHL game here tomorrow will
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: be your second NHL game broadcast in your home building.
