- 0:01Hello. Welcome to the No God Coach
- 0:02Huddle for May 22nd, 2025. Your
- 0:05two-minute play of the day for applying
- 0:08God's word in your life. So, let's
- 0:09huddle up and hear today's play from
- 0:11Luke 6, which says, "Blessed are you
- 0:14when people hate you, when they exclude
- 0:16you and insult you and reject your name
- 0:18as evil because of the Son of Man.
- 0:21Rejoice in that day and leap for joy
- 0:23because great is your reward in heaven.
- 0:26For that is how the ancestors treated
- 0:28the prophets." But woe to you who are
- 0:30rich, for you have already received your
- 0:32comfort. Woe to you who are well-fed
- 0:34now, for you will go hungry. Woe to you
- 0:37who laugh now, for you will mourn and
- 0:39weep. Woe to you when everyone speaks
- 0:42well of you, for that is how their
- 0:44ancestors treated the false
- 0:46prophets. What do you think of President
- 0:49Trump? He is indeed a polarizing figure.
- 0:52And why is that? Some hate his policies,
- 0:55but most chaff at his rhetoric. It's the
- 0:58way he says things that bothers so many,
- 1:01even among those who agree with his
- 1:03policies. His character, too, is a
- 1:05source of contention among many. What
- 1:08does this have to do with our reading
- 1:09today? Thinking of Donald and his
- 1:12disregard for the opinions of the media
- 1:14is how Christians should think of the
- 1:16criticisms of others as it relates to
- 1:19our faith. We should not attack our
- 1:21critics the way the president attacks
- 1:23some in the media. We should also stop
- 1:26cowering before the critical opinion of
- 1:28the pagans in our society. Jesus was
- 1:31constantly in controversy with the
- 1:33religious leaders who denied his claims
- 1:36of being Messiah. They were aggressively
- 1:39antagonistic toward Jesus and his
- 1:41ministry. But that didn't deter Jesus.
- 1:44The Christian must likewise be
- 1:45undeterred in sharing Jesus with people
- 1:48and insisting upon his righteous ways in
- 1:51society. Christians should be
- 1:54unapologetically pro-life, pro- marriage
- 1:56between one man and one woman, pro-
- 1:59advocates of two separate but equal
- 2:01genders, male and female only, and other
- 2:04biblical values that the pagans despise.
- 2:07The gospel is controversial. God's ways
- 2:11cause us to chaff when we want to do,
- 2:14feel, speak, or believe something else.
- 2:17Like the president, Jesus invites us to
- 2:19welcome the persecution of the pagans
- 2:22and warns us against trying to please
- 2:24them by becoming like them. Unlike the
- 2:27president, Jesus commands us to pray for
- 2:29those who persecute us, to do good to
- 2:31those who hate us, and to forgive those
- 2:33who harm us, just as God forgives us for
- 2:37all our sins. The president is a good
- 2:39example of what it means to stand up and
- 2:42stand out for what he believes is true,
- 2:44regardless of the opinion of others.
- 2:47While Christians should stand up and
- 2:48stand out far differently than the
- 2:50president, they must do so if they want
- 2:53to show themselves to be loyal and
- 2:55faithful to Jesus, who requires such
- 2:58behavior from his disciples.
