- 0:00Hello, everyone, and welcome back to another episode of Have Faith,
- 0:02Let It Begin. If you didn't watch or listen to yesterday's episode,
- 0:05we had two young, amazing women on the show, Addie and Ariana.
- 0:10So I don't want to make anyone wait. And this is how today's episode is going to go.
- 0:14It's part two, and we're going to continue on. We left off with high school
- 0:18and preparation for college.
- 0:20We had great feedback. And I think today is really going to culminate what Reaching
- 0:24for the Stars is all about.
- 0:26So Have Faith, Let It Begin, part two edition starts like this.
- 0:30So I say to you, forget about the fast lane.
- 0:33If you really want to fly, just harness your power to your passion.
- 0:38Honor your calling because everybody has one.
- 0:42Trust your heart and success will come to you. Have Faith, Let It Begin,
- 0:47part two edition, and it starts right now.
- 0:50Hello, everyone, and welcome back to Have Faith, Let It Begin.
- 0:52Without further ado, we were leaving off with Addy and Ariana.
- 0:55Thank you so much for agreeing to come back and doing a part two since we ran
- 0:58a little longer than usual.
- 1:00We like to try to keep our shows at 12 minutes, maybe even seven,
- 1:03but you know what? We were flowing.
- 1:04So let's pick up. Yeah, we're flowing. Let's pick up.
- 1:08We left off. So Addie was just talking about yesterday how she was an extrovert
- 1:12and she was just like, you know, excited the fact that with school prepared
- 1:16her to know the differences, the ins and outs of how she became more sociable.
- 1:21And she felt that that actually worked for her, not against her.
- 1:24And Ariana, you know, was talking about how she was kind of quiet in the beginning,
- 1:29not too social butterfly, so to speak.
- 1:32I was kind of a little bit of both. I was not sure about what I didn't know who my identity was yet.
- 1:38So I was still kind of figuring out who I was. We're going to dive right into,
- 1:42you get into graduation of high school.
- 1:44You already picked your schools.
- 1:47You guys are literally weeks away from leaving. Ariana going to her third.
- 1:51Addie's going into her first. What is your mindset now?
- 1:54We'll start with Addie because you're going in. This is your first time.
- 1:58What is your mindset right now? You're leaving in what, like eight days, five days, what? Two.
- 2:02Wow. So that means when this airs, you're already there. So, oh my gosh. So, wow.
- 2:09Where are you at right now? I mean, the school that I'm going to... Don't mention it.
- 2:13We don't mention it. I've been at the plot. Oh, wow.
- 2:16I'm pretty comfortable with the campus and a bunch of the people there I already know.
- 2:21And my roommate, I'm lucky enough to live 20-ish minutes from.
- 2:26So we've been able to meet and get to know each other a little bit before we go.
- 2:29So I'm comfortable with a lot of the things that are going to be changing.
- 2:33But again, I don't even know what I'm walking into.
- 2:37You never do. Even when I went to community college, because that's what I did. You don't know.
- 2:41And things are going to change. They just do. Ariana can attest to this because she's three years in.
- 2:47Ariana, where were you when you were first going in and where are you today?
- 2:50Oh, it was bad. It was so bad.
- 2:54Like, I didn't know anybody. No one.
- 2:58Like, I was familiar. Like, this school that I wanted, like,
- 3:02the school that I'm at right now was not my first pick.
- 3:04Not my first pick. It was honestly my last pick. So I was already,
- 3:07like, on the fence about going there.
- 3:09Then I decided, you know, I'm just going to commit. I'm going to go.
- 3:12It's not too far. Whatever.
- 3:14I show up and I'm like, wait, this is actually really fun.
- 3:17I've seen the change in you. I know. This is kind of sad, but this is kind of cool.
- 3:22And then you bond with the people around you. Everyone else is homesick.
- 3:26And you're like, wait, so am I. You can talk about it.
- 3:29You build so many friendships and connections right away.
- 3:32And you don't even realize it. It happens so fast, which is so weird.
- 3:36Because I'm already going into my third year and it's like, how?
- 3:38Because I still feel like I'm back right to the beginning of all of it.
- 3:43I say it to you all the time.
- 3:44I look at you and I remember the first time I held you and I don't know how
- 3:48you're in your third year of college.
- 3:50Matter of fact, before we even recorded, Addy had to correct me,
- 3:52right? You were like, third? It's like second?
- 3:55So yeah, we're going to blink and Ariana's going to be graduated and in her
- 3:59career and you're going to be in your third year, Addy.
- 4:03And you know, it's going to be surreal. Well, here's what I want to segue.
- 4:06I'm not trying to put a sad note here, but let's be realistic.
- 4:11When people go away, people change.
- 4:14And I think that it's the friendships that you have, that the bond that you
- 4:19create and the communication and awareness to each other when you come back
- 4:23home will keep those friendships growing.
- 4:26Because let's be honest, you know, you get older, you go out,
- 4:30you meet new friends, just like you said.
- 4:32And, you know, friendships change. So I'm hoping that you guys,
- 4:37I know the bond you guys have, so I'm not really concerned about it,
- 4:39but I'm hoping you guys are prepared for that.
- 4:42Yeah, for sure. And we've talked about it so many times, like,
- 4:46yeah, we're so close, but like, that's, and we're going to make different friends.
- 4:52I'm like, we're already preparing for that. I told her, I was like,
- 4:54you have to have your own experience.
- 4:56Just as much as I had my own experience in college, like you need to branch
- 5:00out. You need to go hang out with your friends. You need to be with your roommate.
- 5:03Like we're already kind of aware of that. And I think having that mindset from
- 5:07the beginning is going to help so much.
- 5:08And I feel like we're like, yes, we're dependent on each other,
- 5:11but we can be without each other.
- 5:14And we've done it for two years. So I feel like, yeah, now that we'll be kind of close.
- 5:19It started when she was going into her freshman year and I was going into my
- 5:23junior year of high school. because I was still in the same routine that I've
- 5:28had for the past two years.
- 5:30And then she was starting everything brand new.
- 5:33So I knew how important it was for me to let her go experience all the new things.
- 5:38She is doing the same with me.
- 5:40You know what's kind of cool too, if you think about it? And I didn't even think
- 5:43about it just until you said that.
- 5:45Ariana's three years in. You're just going in. So when and if you do get into
- 5:49those funks that Ariana went through,
- 5:52not only will you have those new people to fall back on
- 5:55if you don't feel comfortable you have your best friend to fall
- 5:58back on yeah and and that's kind of
- 6:00cool i didn't have any of that i lost all my friends from high school for a
- 6:05totally different topic you know you you end up dating somebody and then you
- 6:10put the the person first and you're kind of like you know you you ride the ship
- 6:14you know and then when the ship just doesn't land you know you're just like hey,
- 6:19Anybody, you know, crickets So, but I do Yeah,
- 6:23I do understand what it feels like Getting back to Ariana's point About how
- 6:27you get somewhere And you don't know anyone But when you finally go,
- 6:31well, this is kind of cool Sometimes going home is fun.
- 6:35It's not always cracked up to be. And then sometimes leaving home is like,
- 6:38oh, but then when you get home to the second home, you're like, oh, it's weird.
- 6:42It is so weird. And that's what I was saying to her, too. I was like,
- 6:44it's such an adjustment.
- 6:45You kind of just have to like let yourself ride the wave because I can't like
- 6:48as much as I can try to explain to her how she's going to feel.
- 6:51She's going to have her own experience. So like I can only I can only tell her
- 6:55from my point of view how it felt, but she's going to have a totally other experience,
- 6:59a whole other major to worry about, like more classes than I ever had.
- 7:02Except for now, like now that I'm, you know, on injury, I'm going to be on in
- 7:05the same boat as her with like the amount of classes and the amount of like
- 7:08rigorous schoolwork, but it's different.
- 7:10So like we just, we're going to, we're going to have differences.
- 7:13We're going to have similarities. It's going to be interesting.
- 7:16Wow. Yeah. This is the time when I would love to sponsor Grammarly cause it's
- 7:19the bomb, but anyway, yeah, I love, I love me some Grammarly.
- 7:23So it saves, it saves a lot of time. Okay.
- 7:27So we're going to go right into the, the actual meat of the whole format,
- 7:33and that is reaching for the stars.
- 7:34When I tell people to reach for the stars, I tell them that you don't want to
- 7:42worry about failure because failing is half the battle. That used to be my saying.
- 7:46And you have to go out into the world knowing that succeeding in life comes with its failures.
- 7:53And getting back up from those failures is what makes you stronger, right?
- 7:58So I remember a quote that I wrote down. It says, do not look at how long it
- 8:03will take you to accomplish those goals or how, excuse me, or how hard it will be.
- 8:09Take a step-by-step and know that one day it will be worth it.
- 8:13That's stuck with me a long time. So that's my advice to you.
- 8:17Where do you think, if let's say
- 8:20we were fast-forwarding and you were graduating with your degrees and
- 8:23you had a magic wand and you were able to reach and grab the star today what
- 8:28would it be today because we're going to re-rack this later and replay it and
- 8:33see where you're at who would like to go first you mean like if i were to like
- 8:37my perfect situation for today or like for exactly you nailed it perfect.
- 8:42So if you had the magic wand right now, and I'm telling you,
- 8:45you had your cap and gown on, you've already had your experience,
- 8:49you've got your degree, but as of today, because it could change, right?
- 8:53As of today, what would that magic wand, what would you do? Well,
- 8:56I would have the means to move to New York City right after graduating.
- 9:03Nice. Because where I need to be for everything I need to accomplish.
- 9:07And I would have a either
- 9:11an internship or like a very beginning career offer
- 9:14from either Telsey casting or Tara Rubin casting which are two amazing agencies
- 9:20in the city and I would be getting to go and watch all the amazing performers
- 9:26audition and help people's dreams come true my god this would be so awesome
- 9:31if this happens because then I can sell this to TMZ.
- 9:35And be like, I was the first guy to have her on the podcast and she said she
- 9:39was going to do this. Yes.
- 9:41Cha-ching. No, I'm just kidding. I wish you luck with that. I hope it does come
- 9:45true though. Ariana, yours is only two years away.
- 9:47You know, I'm going to sound like corny, but I just want to be happy.
- 9:51Like truly, like right now I'm in like the, just in a funk, just like with everything.
- 9:55Like I feel like everything is just kind of like going back, back, back, back, back.
- 9:58So I just hope that by the time I graduate, that I'm content with where I am in that given moment.
- 10:06And I hope that whatever route I wind up taking is going to be what's made for me.
- 10:11I mean, obviously I have my goals. Like I do want to be in Hamilton on Broadway.
- 10:14Like that is, that's it. Like that's it.
- 10:17Hey, you never know. You may be there and then your casting director is Addie.
- 10:21I mean, that's it. That's so happy. I'm so happy. I have a free agent.
- 10:27I don't have to pay her yet. Could you imagine,
- 10:31like, 10 years from now, you're on my podcast, which by then would be on this
- 10:35major platform, and I'm sitting in there with the, you know,
- 10:39the major director of, you know, New York City with her best friend,
- 10:43and we talk, and we re-rack this, and we're just sitting there,
- 10:46you know, and I'm just chilling.
- 10:48Yes, well, you know, I'm going out tonight to the Broadway shows,
- 10:51you know. Yeah, that would be awesome.
- 10:54Well, listen, reaching for the stars is important. Don't blink because listen,
- 10:58I'm 47 and people don't, you know, you think that you got it all in your age, right?
- 11:03Just remember to have a great time. So both your answers are exactly what I
- 11:08wanted. Have a great time.
- 11:10Enjoy the moments. Enjoy every second, the good, the bad, and certainly the
- 11:16ugly, because there'll be ugly ones.
- 11:18Understand that no matter what happens in life and no matter what you will go
- 11:22through, always put your best foot forward, always trusting your parents,
- 11:27trusting your friends, and believe in yourself because that is the key.
- 11:32You have to believe in yourself.
- 11:33My last quote for you today is, if you don't go after what you want, you'll never have it.
- 11:40If you don't ask the answer, then the answer is always going to be no.
- 11:45If you don't step forward, then you'll always be in the same place.
- 11:50I got that one from Nora Roberts.
- 11:52It's a really good quote and it's helped me.
- 11:55And I wish you guys nothing but the very best. I want to thank you for being on the show.
- 12:00Thank you for teaching us some things that I think a lot of young,
- 12:04I'm just going to say young kids too, because we're going to play this for everyone, can say this.
- 12:08I'm hoping and praying that I can make this out into a program that one day
- 12:14when I become a motivational speaker, we can go back to our alma mater and go
- 12:19to Valley Central and be like, hey, this is a great show. Guess who's here?
- 12:24Oh, no. A special surprise. Noah's here. Noah, say hi. We're recording.
- 12:30Say, have faith. Have faith.
- 12:33And it starts. Right now. Yeah.
- 12:36That's a best way to end the show right there guys i want
- 12:39to thank you addy good luck to you i wish you nothing but success i
- 12:43think you're going to do well as a parent of a
- 12:46of my daughter i've never told you this publicly or in person but now that i
- 12:50have the opportunity let me share this with you as a parent who allows strangers
- 12:56to watch over their children knowing that you were a part of my daughter's beginning steps in dance,
- 13:03knowing the soul that you have and the inner glow that you have,
- 13:08I don't see nothing but success in your future.
- 13:12And I'm praying and hoping that all that just translates into whatever your dreams and goals are.
- 13:19So I want to thank you and I hope that you reach all the potential in the world.
- 13:23Thank you. You're welcome. And to my beautiful darling, Ariel.
- 13:28Oh, I'm sorry. It's Ariana. I'm just kidding. I did it on purpose.
- 13:32No, I did it on purpose. No, it's Ariana. You know, I always tell you, make the great choices.
- 13:36I am very proud of what you do. So from the days that I held you in my arms
- 13:40where you did not want uncle to hold you because you were a stranger danger
- 13:44until I gave you that beautiful vanilla ice cream cone that made you my best friend and I is yours.
- 13:50Watching you and your sister on stage, I'll never forget the Beauty and the Beast episode.
- 13:57I call it episodes or performances or the song that you both sang,
- 14:02help me with this one. I think it was from, what's it?
- 14:05First time forever. What's the song? It was from Frozen. From Frozen.
- 14:09Yes. I'll never forget sitting in the audience and I'm crying.
- 14:13And my brother, your father, pushes me on my shoulder, touching the other and
- 14:19goes, why are you crying? They're my kids.
- 14:21I'm like, dude, but I'm such a proud uncle.
- 14:24So in all your performances, I have them all. I wish you nothing but the best.
- 14:28Guys, I hope you enjoyed today. You're welcome.
- 14:31Hope you enjoyed today's episode. It's a two-parter And they'll be back for
- 14:34more And maybe we can get them to do a live broadcast From both their colleges
- 14:40That would be really something,
- 14:42And do a huge platform With everybody from colleges That would be pretty cool
- 14:46And maybe we'll start something We'll start a trend,
- 14:49We'll call it the And then maybe I'll produce their show The Addy and Ariana show The AA AA.
- 14:57All right guys On behalf of all of us here Have faith, let it begin Have a good
- 15:00one And never forget Have faith, let it begin it.
