- Lucas: Velkommen til Learn Danish with Fexingo. Episode 105. Luna: Hej Lucas! I'm ready for more Danish. What are we doing today? Lucas: Today, we are going back to the bakery. But this time, we are ordering for two people. Luna: Oh, like for a friend? That sounds useful. Lucas: Exactly. So the first phrase is: til to personer. That means 'for two people'. Luna: Til to personer. For two people. Okay, til to personer. Lucas: You got it. Now imagine you walk into a bakery and want to order two kanelsnegle. You say: Jeg vil gerne have to kanelsnegle. Luna: Jeg vil gerne have to kanelsnegle. That's 'I would like two kanelsnegle'? I remember kanelsnegl from before. Lucas: Yes, but now it's plural: kanelsnegle. So Jeg vil gerne have to kanelsnegle. Luna: Jeg vil gerne have to kanelsnegle. Okay, I think I can say that. Lucas: Great. Then you might also want two coffees. So: Vi vil gerne have to kaffe. 'We would like two coffees.' Luna: Vi vil gerne have to kaffe. That's 'we' now, because we're ordering for two. Lucas: Right. So you can use vi when you are with someone else. Vi vil gerne have to kaffe. Luna: Vi vil gerne have to kaffe. And then the baker asks for the total, right? Lucas: Yes. To ask 'What will that be in total?' you say: Hvad bliver det i alt? Luna: Hvad bliver det i alt? That's a bit of a mouthful. Hvad bliver det i alt? Lucas: You said it well. Let's slow it down: Hvad bliver det i alt? Hvad bliver det i alt? Luna: Hvad bliver det i alt? Hvad bliver det i alt? I think I've got it. Lucas: Perfect. Let's put it together in a little scene. You and your friend walk into a bakery in Copenhagen. You say to the baker: Hej! Vi vil gerne have to kanelsnegle og to kaffe. Luna: Hej! Vi vil gerne have to kanelsnegle og to kaffe. And then the baker says...? Lucas: The baker might say: Skal det være til to personer? And you say: Ja, til to personer. Luna: Ja, til to personer. Then the baker says Hvad bliver det i alt?? Lucas: No, you actually ask the baker that: Hvad bliver det i alt? So you say: Hvad bliver det i alt? And the baker tells you the price. Luna: Ah, right. So I ask: Hvad bliver det i alt? Okay, I can do that. Let me try the whole thing: Hej! Vi vil gerne have to kanelsnegle og to kaffe. Til to personer. Hvad bliver det i alt? Lucas: Wow, that was excellent. You just ordered for two people like a pro. Luna: Tak! Oh, I love that. So now I can take my friend to a Danish bakery and order. That's so cool. Lucas: Exactly. And if you are enjoying these episodes and they help you feel more confident in Danish, well, there is a way to support the show. Luna: Yeah, if today's lesson was worth a coffee to you, then you can buy the Fexingo team a coffee at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Lucas: That really helps keep the podcast going. Now back to our bakery: imagine the baker says: Det bliver 60 kroner i alt. Then you can say: Tak! Luna: Tak! And then you pay and enjoy your kanelsnegle and coffee. I'm getting hungry. Lucas: Me too. Let's practice one more time. Repeat after me: Til to personer. Luna: Til to personer. Lucas: Jeg vil gerne have to kanelsnegle. Luna: Jeg vil gerne have to kanelsnegle. Lucas: Vi vil gerne have to kaffe. Luna: Vi vil gerne have to kaffe. Lucas: Hvad bliver det i alt? Luna: Hvad bliver det i alt? Lucas: Perfect. Now you are ready to order for two. Practice these phrases, and we'll see you next time. Farvel! Luna: Farvel! Tak for i dag!
