- 0:00But yeah, man, we're back. Obviously y'all noticed by now that Quincy
- 0:05ain't here. He's been having a long couple of weeks. He traveled for
- 0:09some work stuff and he's just kind of playing catch up. So he's not
- 0:15here this week, but you know, shout out to Quincy all down the
- 0:19Spirit aka Winsy Little Winston Winston. I thought I thought Ronnie was doing that
- 0:25on accident, but I guess it's program that's Wincy in his phone or something.
- 0:30Yeah, I think he just says it just to add to the crazy
- 0:33names we call Quincy, you know what I mean? Like we always got
- 0:36like I just started, I don't know, bro, Like ever since we
- 0:40was kids, I always like added mad different things to his name and like
- 0:45you know, like Quincinator, Quincy Tropolis, like I just I don't know
- 0:48why his name. I always did that, and it's just always stuck,
- 0:52like it never never ended. When we was younger, I used to always
- 0:55hit him with the remember that one that Eminem song, the where he's like,
- 1:00I'm just Marshall Mather. Yeah, anytime I will call Quincy, it'll
- 1:04be like, because I'm just Quincy Quincy Jamal Mass my dog. Yeah,
- 1:15shout out to him. Man. But yeah, man, it's been been
- 1:19a fun week. Been real busy. You know, you got some people
- 1:26at your house. You know what I'm saying. You had some people at
- 1:29his house. It's been it's been a crazy time. The holidays coming up,
- 1:33you know, it always gets like that around this time. But yeah,
- 1:37everybody want to take vacations during this time of year, for sure.
- 1:40Facts Earlier in the week, I found this article that's like Matt Old,
- 1:46but for some reason, I've never seen it or read it or anything.
- 1:49It was a Vulture article on well actually it was an interview that they did
- 1:53with Quincy Jones and they're just talking to him about different stuff or whatever.
- 1:57It's from twenty eighteen the article, so it's like the old article, but
- 2:02I never read it. I went through it. I still haven't like read
- 2:07it ready, but I read most of it. It's a lot of a
- 2:10lot of interesting things on there. One of the one of the most interesting
- 2:14things that I saw was in the very beginning he kind of said, Michael
- 2:20Jackson stole a lot of ideas music. I heard. I was going to
- 2:23bring that up. I've heard that's what I was going to bring up and
- 2:27that he was really stingy as far as like giving people credit, Like he
- 2:30was saying that there was people that had like big hands in certain songs for
- 2:36Thriller, and he didn't want to give them credit or he wanted to give
- 2:38them little credit, you know what I mean. And that's something as well.
- 2:43That's something I hear a lot about artists period, and it's funny coming
- 2:49from me because I'm an artist as well, but like I feel like I
- 2:52don't really have an ego like that as far as like my artistry goes.
- 2:55Like I'm open to I'm open to suggestions, but I'm also aware that there's
- 3:01a line where it's like, to a certain point, that's my music,
- 3:05you know what I mean. Like if you don't like if you're trying to
- 3:07get me over that line, then you're just trying to change my music and
- 3:10you don't like my music, which is fine with me. But I'm not
- 3:13going to change my music. You know what I'm saying. I wouldn't mind
- 3:15making my music better, but I'm not going to change my music, if
- 3:20that makes sense, And no, I agree, and you can see why.
- 3:23It's also those are kind of decisions that make it successful. Too.
- 3:29And then that's one of the things where like it surprised me hearing that about
- 3:32Michael Jackson because it's like, I don't know, there's also that other side
- 3:37of being great where you're so great that you just don't feel like anybody's on
- 3:42your level. And then you kind of know it also, you know,
- 3:44because it's like if Michael Jackson was to tell you something's whack or you're not
- 3:49on his level technically, is he wrong? Like you know what I'm saying,
- 3:53Like even though it's subjective to a certain point, he can speak on
- 3:58it. Like that doesn't mean he has to, but he can, you
- 4:00know what I mean? Yep, I just and but that's that's that's the
- 4:06gift in the curse and artistry. And we kind of talked about it with
- 4:13the Vincent Man thing Jerry Jones, and it's when do you get to the
- 4:17point where you think like that but you're wrong? Yeah, But the thing
- 4:21was for Michael Jackson, he was never wrong, yep. And it's kind
- 4:27of like even when you talk about sports figures, when they be like,
- 4:30oh, there would be a great coach, and it's like ninety nine percent
- 4:32of the times those all time greats are not all time great coaches, you
- 4:36know what. A lot of times they don't understand why it's hard for somebody
- 4:42to do something that they figured out, you know what I mean. It's
- 4:45like it's that understanding of like everybody don't got your work ethic, everybody don't
- 4:48got your drive, so you got to meet him with a rat and that
- 4:51that's like the hard thing about like juggling different personalities and stuff, because you
- 4:57got to treat everybody different but the same, you know what I mean.
- 5:00It's a funny little line that you kind of dance on. Yeah, everybody
- 5:04different but the same for sure. And one of the things that he said
- 5:09in the article that really stuck out to me was what they were kind of
- 5:13asking him if he hears the spirit of jazz in the pop music today and
- 5:16this is twenty eighteen, so pretty recently, and he was like, no,
- 5:20there's there's no there's no spirit pretty much into music because they're going like
- 5:27this is the examples he gave, but it was basically saying, going after
- 5:30like marketing and commercial success. He's like, when you go after Sarah Vodka
- 5:33and fat Farm and all that shit, God walks out of the room.
- 5:36I have never in my life made music for money or fame, not even
- 5:40Thriller. No way, God walks out of the room where you're thinking about
- 5:44money. You could spend a million dollars on the piano part and it won't
- 5:47make you a million dollars back. That's just not how it works. And
- 5:51that's a great quote. Yeah, I thought it was super profound because it's
- 5:55like, that's that's exactly how I feel about music as well. It's like,
- 6:00obviously the music gives you a better chance for high quality output, like
- 6:05the money gives you that chance. You know, Like if you got a
- 6:09lot of money, you're gonna be in a better studio, You're gonna be
- 6:12able to get better musicians, you're gonna be able to take your time with
- 6:15it a little more. So that inherently makes the music better. But just
- 6:19having the money isn't gonna make good music, you know what I mean?
- 6:23Yeah, the intent the intent changes everything I think outside looking in, people
- 6:30realize the intent and it realize why you're doing. Certainly, we kind of
- 6:34just touched on this before we started the show. Some things aren't genuine,
- 6:38and so I think you could feel that in music, but probably some of
- 6:45the shit that Drake mean, I didn't see the intent. I didn't feel
- 6:47the reason for him to make a song like that, And there's still stuff
- 6:51I still don't like. And I digested everything well and I like what I
- 6:56like, but there's still stuff I really don't like. And I really have
- 6:59not dislike his stuff like that until now because I see the intents not there,
- 7:04no more the intend to make that songs totally different at this point,
- 7:09and I think I've said, look, any people notice that it's big?
- 7:13And you know what, something that somebody told me kind of ties into the
- 7:15Drake thing and how I feel about Drake because and it's funny and ironic because
- 7:19the person that told me this was somebody that I did in jail with trying
- 7:24to work with musically. But they were like, whatever type of content you
- 7:29do, the type of music, whatever you're doing, period, it's like,
- 7:31you gotta be mindful of what you're doing because whatever takes off, that's
- 7:36what you gotta do now to continue to make it work. And that always
- 7:42stuck with me, and that's always also that's another reason why I also have
- 7:45this big thing where I'm like being very meticulous about the kind of content I
- 7:50put out because I don't want to make any content that I don't like.
- 7:55Slash I'm not comfortable with, because I don't want that to be the thing
- 7:59that catches on you know what I mean, Because I'm not going to go
- 8:01down that path. Then you're stuck to it exactly. You know. I
- 8:05think a lot of a lot of creators deal with similar situations where one of
- 8:11their off brand stuff becomes viral, and in order to get that recognition,
- 8:16they got to keep making that kind of content. They hate it, and
- 8:20it was never their intent to just make that kind of stuff. And then
- 8:22you stop making it, and then the crowd stops following you, and the
- 8:26people are like, why don't you making this no more? And it's a
- 8:30conflict. Bro. Then as an artist, you can't if you really want
- 8:33to make good shit, you can't live in that conflict. Damn. I
- 8:35got to keep making what they want. I mean, hating an artist and
- 8:41I get it. It's tough, man. That's kind of like I was
- 8:46saying that to tie it back into the Drake thing. That's how I feel
- 8:48about Drake. It's like I can like, I feel like I can tell
- 8:52that he is a great artist, and he has it in him to make
- 8:54great music because he's made it before, you know what I mean, Like
- 8:56in the eyes of the mainstream, he has, and even in my eyes
- 9:00that I'm not a fan of his, I still have music of his that
- 9:03I really like and that it's like classic for me, you know what I'm
- 9:07saying. Actually I did this the other day and I couldn't get like a
- 9:11whole screenshot of it, but I pulled up in my phone Drake's songs that
- 9:16I have in my library because I was even curious, you know what I
- 9:18mean. So like the Drakes songs that I have in my library. And
- 9:26when I say Drake songs, I mean a song that's Drake's song, you
- 9:28know what I mean, Like he's the main artist, not the feature,
- 9:33because I do have a few of his features on my own phone. But
- 9:35as far as a song that Drake made, I have the honestly never Mind
- 9:41album in my phone. I have from Nothing was the same, I have
- 9:46hold on We're Going Home, and the furthest thing from Take Care I got
- 9:56hell yeah fucking right, from So Far Gone I got November eighteenth, sooner
- 10:03than later, and Bria's interlude So basically like the only stuff I have on
- 10:09my phone of his is like the singing stuff, you know what I mean.
- 10:13But like the songs that I read to you, those to me are
- 10:16classics, bro, Like those are songs that whenever they But you know what,
- 10:18find Your Loving is just like hold on, We're going home you.
- 10:22I like, Find Your Love, but it's like it's a little too like
- 10:30in the moment sound, you know what I mean. Like I liked it
- 10:33a lot at the time and right there, and you mastered it bad on
- 10:37purpose. I uh nah, I know where you're talking about it. And
- 10:45it's funny because I just I felt like it was just if it was like
- 10:50a classic classic, Kanye wouldn't have given it to Drake, is what I'm
- 10:54saying. You know what I like? It was a fire song, don't
- 10:56get me wrong, but I it's not one of those, you know what
- 11:00I mean. If it was one of those, Kanye would have kept it.
- 11:01Bro. No, but the fact that he mastered that song, and
- 11:07that song has the lowest quality of all of the songs an entire album.
- 11:11Think about the sound of that song, It's like it was never even mastered.
- 11:15I feel like with Kanye was just painfully obvious that he just hated Drake
- 11:20as far as the point of view of I'm supposed to be the guy,
- 11:24who is this guy coming out of left field? You know what I mean?
- 11:26It's the same thing he did to Fifty, Bro, Which is the
- 11:30funny part. Kanye came out of left field and Fifty looked at him like,
- 11:33Bro, this guy, you know, fifty being shot nine times,
- 11:37he got muscles on top of muscles, Bro, he got his crew with
- 11:41him, nobody messing with him like he's running the like he's running the street
- 11:46stuff like the way the way Fifty was talking, and then the way he
- 11:50just skated through like you know, everything, like nobody even touched him.
- 11:56Bro. I feel like that's something that's not even talked about enough, because
- 12:00any any rapper that talks the way Fifty talks, Bro, not to sound
- 12:05crash, but they're dead, bro, like anybody that talks the greasy Like
- 12:09the only other one I could probably think of is Gucci Man, but even
- 12:13Gucci Man, Bro, Like he had situations, like people came at him,
- 12:16he went to jail like fifty, Bro, he didn't have situations like
- 12:20he had little things, but it was never him you know what I'm saying,
- 12:24there was always somebody around him will get shot or you know, somebody
- 12:26around He did take nine shots though, but that was That's what I'm saying
- 12:33before like once he got on and was still talking crazy and you already been
- 12:37shot nine times and you acting like you bulleted. That's what I'm saying.
- 12:39That just he really felt bulletproof, you know. And that's kind of like
- 12:45what happened with Kanye, Like Kanye knocked him off his pedestal, and he
- 12:48felt the same way fifty did. Like I came on the scene, you
- 12:50know, a backpack and a polo, and I ended up being the hottest
- 12:56ship. Nobody could tell me nothing. And then Drake comes along and then
- 12:58takes you whole shit as far as like all your motion basically, like because
- 13:03it's funny, man, Like it goes back to like that mainstream thing that
- 13:07we talk about. It is like Drake didn't take anything from Kanye, except
- 13:13like the popularity, you know what I'm saying, Like Kanye still has his
- 13:16diehards that will buy his music. He still can sell out concerts, he
- 13:20still has. Yeah, he was still doing shows that you Yeah, he
- 13:24still has on what's it called the the mainstream fans. Also, you know
- 13:31what I mean, he just didn't have the impact that Drake had, you
- 13:33know what I'm saying. And I felt like it just fucked with him from
- 13:37the very beginning, Like he just he probably felt like, Yo, it
- 13:39took me so long to get this position, and now this guy from Canada's
- 13:43coming here with this like whole manufactured thing, and now you're just gonna knock
- 13:50me off. Like I know that had to rub him, you know,
- 13:52a certain kind of way. But you know what, we got to get
- 13:56to into it. But I do want to say, because we talked less
- 13:58about that Drake is, but Kanye it's the same too. No, he
- 14:01definitely is, Bro, That's what I'm saying. Like the way he reacted
- 14:05to Drake and all the stories that, like the stories that Drake tells about
- 14:09Kanye, it tells you how simple he said he gave him to be.
- 14:13And the next day he dropped the track scooping deep boop. That's what I'm
- 14:18saying, Bro, It's like you're blatantly just as petty, you know what
- 14:22I mean. It's just you're you're the thing. I think the thing that
- 14:24Kanye don't like bro is like his petty. He don't get looked at as
- 14:28cool when he does it, Drake does you know what I mean. It's
- 14:31like I said, it's that mainstream appeal that he lost, Like I think
- 14:37that's why he went so the other way with it, you know what I'm
- 14:39saying. It's like, Okay, people don't fuck with me. I'm gonna
- 14:41give you a lot of reasons not to fuck with me, you know what
- 14:43I mean. It was like kind of like his rebel against it, you
- 14:46know. Yeah, but yeah, man, but those are those are good
- 14:52songs on your phone though. Yeah. And it's like and like I said,
- 14:56Bro, I don't I don't got again, I don't got nothing.
- 14:58I feel like every t I'm i to talk about Drake, I feel like
- 15:01Steven A. Smith when he talks about Lebron, you know what I mean,
- 15:03it's like just because I don't got him as one of my greates,
- 15:07Like people come at me about it and it's like, bro, it just
- 15:09it ain't. Just don't hit me, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 15:13it's just it is what it is. I'm not trying to not like
- 15:16him, you know what I mean. I don't go out of there are
- 15:18people who do that. That's the word. The bad part. There's too
- 15:22many people, that's the thing, people that, like you said, you
- 15:26go out of your own way to not enjoy something. Bro, It's funny
- 15:31because I debded that, and it's funny funny that this was like the thing,
- 15:37but Napoleon Dynamite dropped and I refuse, Like I just judged it off
- 15:43the trailer, and I judged it off the type of people I felt like
- 15:46fucked with it. And I'm like, I'm not even I'm never gonna watch
- 15:50that movie. You know what I'm saying. I just made that decision,
- 15:52like, nah, Bro, that's corny. I'm never gonna watch it.
- 15:56Like a year and some change passes. It wasn't too long, but it
- 15:58was a while, you know what I'm saying, Like for how big the
- 16:02movie was, you know, maybe like a year and a half, Like
- 16:04a year and a half or something passes. It passes, and I don't
- 16:07know why, but I watched the movie like even though, like I'm I'm
- 16:10pretty stubborn like at that time. You know what I'm saying, I'm the
- 16:12type of person if I said I'm not gonna watch it, Bro, I'm
- 16:15not gonna watch it, but I ended up watching it, bro, and
- 16:19it was fucking hilarious and right I don't know why, like I said,
- 16:23but right then I was like, you know what, man, I'm not
- 16:26gonna just not say I don't like something just a fake for that, Like
- 16:30I gotta give it a shake, you know what I'm saying. So ever
- 16:33since then, like I always give everything a fair shake, Like I try
- 16:36to listen to it, as you know, I go into it trying to
- 16:41find something like something new to like, you know what I'm saying. So
- 16:45it's like why would I and I understand what you're saying, because I know
- 16:48people like that too, bro, like that they'll pretend they don't like something,
- 16:51and it's like, bro, like why are you just gonna deprive yourself
- 16:53of something that you can enjoy that it doesn't even matter if you enjoy it,
- 16:56you know what I'm saying. It happens a lot with like old music,
- 17:02Like I'll play something and like the tell is always when they ask you,
- 17:07like, yo, what is this? You know what I mean?
- 17:08Because like you can play music all the time and if it sounds like background
- 17:11music, people would just let us slide you know what I mean. But
- 17:15then like there's certain songs that people will be like, yo, what is
- 17:18this? And you know me, I got like an obscure taste with music,
- 17:22you know what I'm saying, Like I like all types of different stuff,
- 17:25Like it don't even match nothing, you know, I just like what
- 17:27I like. And some certain songs you tell somebody, oh, this is
- 17:32just from the name of the artist or the genre of music, they'll be
- 17:34like, oh, like it's like, bro, but you liked it though,
- 17:37you know what I'm saying now, because I tell you who it is,
- 17:40all of a sudden, you don't like it. You know. Like
- 17:44now, if something's good, something's good, I will not enjoy it because
- 17:48of who the artist is. Something's good, it's good. You can't deny
- 17:53that. And that's why people who go out of the way just to bash
- 17:56on everything not even listen to it. Just crazy. And it kind of
- 18:02goes into what we were talking about earlier that we were gonna mention on the
- 18:04show too, is like for me, I could just like the music and
- 18:08that's it. Like I don't have to like the person, like Drake being
- 18:12corny doesn't matter to me in real life. The corniness translated in the music.
- 18:18That's the part that bothers me. You know what I'm saying, Like
- 18:22when you're you could be petty and do all this, you know what I'm
- 18:25saying. Like it's the same with Kanye, like the stupid like comedy petty
- 18:30dumb raps that he does, you know what I mean, Like I don't
- 18:33like that stuff, Like you know, the what was the song I just
- 18:40want to feel liberated? What was that song called? I don't even know
- 18:45what it's called, because it was it's a stupid verse, you know what
- 18:47I mean, Like the way the song drops, you know, if if
- 18:49this model and you know what I'm saying, Like when I heard that,
- 18:52I was like, Bro, that's corny skip. You know what I'm saying.
- 18:56I don't like it because of that, Like I don't care that he's
- 19:00like he does that kind of corny stuff like to me, like if do
- 19:04you do it that? Whatever? But it's like I don't want to hear
- 19:07it in the music, you know what I mean? And like kind of
- 19:08like we were saying earlier, like as well, if the music's dope,
- 19:11I could rock with it. I don't need to rock with the person I
- 19:14don't need to feel like a connection to the artist, you know what I'm
- 19:17saying, Like the only difference, like the only time that I draw a
- 19:21line there is like for me, like people like r Kelly, you know
- 19:23what I'm saying, People like Bill Cosby, like as far as like watching
- 19:27like hearing his comedy anymore or watching his shows anymore. Like when I know
- 19:32there's just such a big, blatant, like lack of judgment on your part,
- 19:37Like I don't want to support what you're doing, you know what I
- 19:40mean. Now, if I just disagree with you stylistically or whatever, I
- 19:42don't care. But when it's something that big, bro, like, I
- 19:45just can't rock with it. And it's kind of like I was talking to
- 19:49Freddy about like just kind of trying to make a connection with like my content
- 19:55is like He's like, okay, so, but what about you? What
- 19:57do you look for? It's like, bro, I don't look for anything.
- 20:00And the people that that I rock with musically, I just look for
- 20:03the music to be something that I enjoy. You know what I'm saying.
- 20:07One of my one of my brothers, because me and my brother don't got
- 20:11the same dad. So like one of my brother's cousins. He makes music,
- 20:15and it's a like I didn't even know what the what the genre was.
- 20:18I had to ask him, like, yo, your music is fire,
- 20:19bro, what kind of music is it? You know what I mean?
- 20:22It was like I think he said it was like dream pop or bedroom
- 20:25pop something like that, but like the vibe was super dope, and shout
- 20:27out to him. His name is d'Artagnan. I wanted to name my son
- 20:30that. And his band is called Empty Vice like the letters M and T,
- 20:36so empty Vice if y'all want to it's some real adult music, real
- 20:41dope music. But yeah, like I don't, I don't care, like
- 20:44you know what I'm saying, Like I don't have to connect the artists to
- 20:45the music. For me, it's just if the music is dope, that's
- 20:48all I care about, you know. Yeah, But you know what,
- 20:52that's why Like with Takashi, I don't like him because I don't like the
- 20:56way his voice sounds mad annoying to me. It's not because whatever that shit
- 21:02happened with his legal ship, but it's like people think I hate on him
- 21:06because they think he's a snitch. I'm like, bro, no, I
- 21:07just don't I don't enjoy his voice, his side of his voice feel yes,
- 21:14And it's and it's so funny, man, because like when he came
- 21:17out, people was rocking with it. Like it's like it's not like you
- 21:22knew that he was a snitch then, but it's like, Bro, you
- 21:23see this dude and you see what he's on, like you know he ain't
- 21:26no tough guy gangster like you know, it had it had a turn into
- 21:30the the oh he's a snitch thing for people to be like, oh,
- 21:33I don't listen, like bro, Like so what before you thought he was
- 21:37like a super thug or something like you know what I'm saying, Like what
- 21:40the logic is so stupid? Bro. It's even like the Rick rosstuff like
- 21:42when he became when they came out that he was a CEO and stuff,
- 21:45and they had the pictures of him shaking hands with the chargeon and stuff.
- 21:48It's like, did you think that he was Pablo Escobar? You know what
- 21:52I'm saying, Like, did you think that he was just about it?
- 21:56Yeah, he's just moving a million bricks and nobody knows you know what I'm
- 22:00saying. He's just so slick that he raps about it, but he ain't
- 22:02getting caught like people. Some people just believe that ship. Yeah, it's
- 22:07like the the frame of thinking be so funny sometimes with people because it's like
- 22:11it's I always bring it back to like wrestling, you know what I mean,
- 22:15Like people have such a hard take rocking with wrestling or being like yo,
- 22:19that's Matt fake. It's like dog, everything that you like is fake
- 22:22everything? What about this? Yeah, it's like, what about this thing
- 22:29being fake? Rubs you the wrong way. I can understand if you don't,
- 22:33you know, like, if you have a real reason of why you
- 22:34don't rock with it, okay, cool, But just because it's fake is
- 22:37not a real reason because everything is fake. Bro, every like you said,
- 22:41Bro, every song, every movie, every every TV even reality TV
- 22:45is fake. So it's like, bro, what what are you talking about
- 22:48right now? I didn't realize you realized, like when there's nobody exactly like
- 22:57that. That, like I said, the Rick Rock thing is so funny
- 23:00to me because it's like people were so heartbroken, like, Bro, who
- 23:03did you think this guy was? Like you know what I'm saying, it's
- 23:07just so stupid. Bro. It's just like that didn't determin me from Rick
- 23:12Ross. I kept listening, so of course not who gives a fuck?
- 23:15You know what I mean. It's like a Lil Wayne too, Like when
- 23:18he started doing the blood thing a lot, Like I remember, there would
- 23:22be like a whole bunch of arguments and wentworth like like, oh is he
- 23:25a real blood? Like oh does he have the bloods behind him? And
- 23:27it's like, bro, we're talking about if Lil Wayne has bloods? Like
- 23:32this is like a comical topic like why why is this even a debate that's
- 23:36coming up? You know what I mean? Yeah, man, that's funny.
- 23:41That's just funny man. Like I said, that's always been something funny
- 23:44to me with the music, kind of making a little pivot, but it
- 23:48kind of is the same as far as like talking about like what you do
- 23:52in real life and if it matters. So I don't know if people have
- 23:56seen like a video of Mace going around talking about Dwight Howard and the whole
- 24:03situation that's going on with him. I'm not going to talk about the Dwight
- 24:07Howard situation itself. If you want to go look it up and read on,
- 24:11that be my guest. But Mace reacted to it and it was a
- 24:17funny reaction, but at the same time what he said was so valid because
- 24:22he's like, you know, people always want to say what you do behind
- 24:26closed doors doesn't matter, and you know what, somebody's business is their business
- 24:30or whatever. But at the same time, Dwight Howard is not on an
- 24:36NBA roster for like and for a while, you know, even though he
- 24:41definitely has the talent and still in the shape and definitely could help a team,
- 24:45Like it's not even a question obviously, as much as they want to
- 24:51say this doesn't matter, it matters because it's affecting his real life stuff,
- 24:55is affecting the way people look at him. It's affecting his ability to get
- 24:59a job as far as being an NBA player and how great he was at
- 25:03his height, you know what I mean. So it kind of like validates
- 25:07what a lot of you know, people that are you know, gay by
- 25:14like any anybody that's in that in that sphere, Like it validates that as
- 25:18far as like people say that it don't matter, but it does matter to
- 25:22them. They pretend, oh, I don't care whatever, as long as
- 25:26you don't do it around me, Like Okay, people say that and stuff,
- 25:29But at the at the end of the day in a large like when
- 25:32you when it comes to a big group of people, it matters to the
- 25:36group, you know what I mean. And that's not fair, bro,
- 25:38you know, like regardless of like putting aside the legal aspect of what Dwight
- 25:44Howard is going through. This story that came out like bru, we shouldn't
- 25:48even know it's sash. It shouldn't matter, which goes back to Mace's point.
- 25:51It's like people say that whatever he does behind closed doors don't matter,
- 25:55but the fact that this is even like a public thing is showing you that
- 25:57it does matter. Funny does Yeah, and yeah he I think the last
- 26:03contract he had he won the Bubble Championship with the Lakers, so he got
- 26:06a ring and surprisingly he didn't go up from there. Yeah. I think
- 26:11I want to say that he went to the Sixers after or something like that.
- 26:15Maybe they had him as like a backup for Joelle and beiid I know
- 26:18he was on another team, but it was very short lived. And he's
- 26:21and he didn't even bounce around Like there's so many players that are way worse
- 26:25than Dwight Howard that bounce around the league. You know what I'm saying,
- 26:27he's you know, it's definitely something and this could all be all and void
- 26:32if it's just an attitude or character thing, because at the end of the
- 26:34day that you know that that is what it is. But it's like it
- 26:37definitely, you know, some of the antics is definitely playing the part.
- 26:42Yeah, the locker room is different. If people don't get along, man,
- 26:47the cohesiveness of the team that's to happen. Yeah, that's a fact,
- 26:49man, That's a fact. And it also kind of goes into like
- 26:53this little key and Peel sketch that's kind of been making this way around social
- 26:59media where it's like a joke where they're doing a very extreme like there's a
- 27:03person that's gay in the sketch and he's being very extreme slash a caricature of
- 27:11what I gotta I gotta tell a story. I know exactly what you're talking
- 27:14about, and it's like a caricature of what a gay person is. But
- 27:18he's being very extreme and very vulgar. And when the person that's straight is
- 27:22not comfortable with the guy saying he's like, oh, you're homophobic, you
- 27:26know, kind of just playing on the thing of you know, people aren't
- 27:30a lot of people aren't homophobic. They just don't want certain things in their
- 27:34face. But it goes back to what we're talking about with this Dwight Howard
- 27:38thing. Even if it's not in your face, people care about it and
- 27:42they bring it to light, so people look at you a different way,
- 27:45and that's where the judgment comes in. And that's where, like I said,
- 27:49these people have a point. From that point of view, it's like
- 27:53these things are still taboo and people are still you know, people are still
- 27:59bringing it up to downplay you or to degrade you when it shouldn't be that
- 28:03type of thing. You know what I'm saying, Like if he was having
- 28:07a threesome with five chicks. I mean, obviously a three some can't be
- 28:11with five chicks. But if Dwight Howard was caught with five chicks, nobody
- 28:15would have even blinked an eye, you know what I'm saying, Like they
- 28:18would have been I was thinking the same thing. But you get caught with
- 28:22two dudes and it becomes this whole thing, and all of a sudden,
- 28:26you have a narrative and a stigma around you and you can't get a job.
- 28:30But man, matter of fact, Dwight Howard himself in the beginning of
- 28:34his career, it was a thing that he had mad baby mamas and he
- 28:38was impregnating girls like left and right in the beginning of his career. Bro,
- 28:42and that never remember that, And remember bro, that never hindered him.
- 28:47He was money, he was doing his thing, nobody cared. But
- 28:51then when it flipped the other way, and it's like, oh, this
- 28:52dude might be bisexual or gay whatever, Now all of a sudden it's an
- 28:57issue, you know what I mean in the locker room, and it's like
- 29:00a literal like even just the same Bro. I forgot about that with him.
- 29:06It's literally the same person, two different situations, and they're being handled
- 29:10two completely different ways. So I remember that when they had those out of
- 29:15town games, that he would go any of those shotis and Asian shoddies.
- 29:18Yeah, bro, And he had mad baby mama's. You know, he
- 29:21had a few that were like magic cheerleaders or something. It was crazy,
- 29:25bro like. But like it goes to prove the point, like people look
- 29:29at it a different way. You could pretend like you don't or whatever.
- 29:32You know, it's kind of it's the same people that be like, oh,
- 29:33I don't see color. It's like you might not see color, but
- 29:37in the grand spectrum of things, people are seeing it, so you know,
- 29:41And that kind of goes back to something mean and you have talked about
- 29:45and we see how the eye with Joe is like dog like people as a
- 29:49group, You're never gonna change him, you know what I'm saying. Like,
- 29:52when you get a big group of people, bro, they're gonna revert
- 29:56to this primal thing for whatever reason. And it's like this, you know,
- 30:00racism, sexism, all that different stuff. Bro, It's it might
- 30:07it might reduce, you know, people might become more tolerant, but none
- 30:11of that stuff is going away, you know what I mean. Like people
- 30:14a way, they hold strong to their beliefs for sure, unless some life,
- 30:19life changing shit happens. Even then, some people still don't change their
- 30:23beliefs. They're still gonna feel the way they feel. And that, Bro,
- 30:26that's that's a big thing in uh in Watchmen, Bro, Like if
- 30:30anybody hasn't watched Watchmen, like that's a big theme that they tap on,
- 30:33Like just the idea that like a lot of times with people unless there's like
- 30:37like a like a big like you said, a big life changing thing,
- 30:41an imminent threat, a common enemy. People are just always going to be
- 30:45at each other's throats. Sucks. I don't need to watch that that.
- 30:51I've been looking for a show to start on the on the on the side,
- 30:52I gotta put the watch for me, dog. I love Watchmen because
- 30:56it hits all the march for me, Like I like superhero shit, I
- 31:00like deep shit. I like things that are visually stunning, you know what
- 31:03I mean. And Watchman takes all about it and you watch the movie both
- 31:07the movie the show. I read one of the series of the comics.
- 31:11I gotta actually like dig into it a little more, like get more into
- 31:15the story because I've been like fiending for more Watchmen content, you know what
- 31:18I mean, Because I just love that comic. I'm a peeping yeah that
- 31:25that and Batman, to me, is the only thing that came out of
- 31:29you that's worth the damn you know. I would love to see a Batman
- 31:33and Watchman crossover. That would be fucking far. D Yeah, they're both
- 31:37DCT, but Watchman is just more like the DC graphic novel side, you
- 31:42know what I mean. But yeah, man, you had you had a
- 31:49topic that you have brought up just as far as like higher as grossing tours,
- 31:55just like the impact of tours and kind of how it translates to like
- 31:59the level all of the artists, how great the artist is and stuff like.
- 32:01Oh, yeah, it was definitely something that that was intriguing and you
- 32:07want to elaborate to my friend, I was in my saving it for Quincy
- 32:10so we can share our contra. Yeah, yeah, but it's pretty much
- 32:15like a little teasing team. Yeah, it stems from the reaction to bad
- 32:19Bunny ticket prices and the reaction to Drake and twenty one Savage ticket prices.
- 32:23That's funny because you didn't specify those things, but it definitely makes sense with
- 32:28that topic. Yeah, so we're gonna talk about who actually made the most
- 32:32funny on their tours and if it's any of these artists at all that are
- 32:37trying to charge just crazy as funny. But I want to talk show experience
- 32:40and yeah, so we'll wait for Quincy on that one dope dope. Yeah,
- 32:45definitely need him here for that because he's definitely been to a lot of
- 32:47concerts just like you. I haven't. I've been to a few dope ones,
- 32:51but I got into going to concerts way later, like I was always
- 32:54broke, you feel me? But so yeah, we'll get into that next
- 33:00time. Yeah, I think that's it as far as like the topics go,
- 33:07we gonna hit the Billboard game. I'm ready a little different spin.
- 33:10You know, it's gonna be more like a like a scrimmage type thing,
- 33:13you know what I'm saying. But we're trying to get you back on track,
- 33:16you know what I mean. I think I think Quincey got two weeks
- 33:20in a row. Man, Yeah, i think I'm down three and one
- 33:22in the finals right now. Yeah, bro this about it. Be here
- 33:24Lebron with the beats wired moment, you know what I'm saying, and do
- 33:30it again. But we are going to just just just for for shits and
- 33:36giggles. Guess a year. Guess a year. Let's see if you get
- 33:38kind of close. Twenty thirteen, be pretty far. Twenty two thousand and
- 33:44five, that's where we got. June two thousand and five, So this
- 33:47is the fourteen ooh before my birthday? All right? You ready ready?
- 33:52So this Neptune's produced hip hop infused pop single was a solo smash for this
- 34:01female vocalist let me read the question again, because it is very twist,
- 34:06Attorney, This Neptune's produced hip hop infused pop single was a solo smash for
- 34:15this female vocalist. The options are whence the Fani Pink and Beyonce two thousand
- 34:24and five, he said, thousand and five Neptunes produced hip hop infused pop
- 34:31single. So it's a pop song, but obviously with that Neptune's production,
- 34:36it has that you know, that kind of bounds to it, you know,
- 34:43whence the funniest correct? What is the song? My friend? Uh,
- 34:51I know that's the name. Give me a second, Yes, sir,
- 34:57there you go, ding ding ding exactly it. And man, we
- 35:01I don't think we've talked about it before, but we gotta go through this
- 35:05run that the Neptunes had in the two thousands, and they were on so
- 35:08much they literally have the like a world record of the most hits like in
- 35:15a decade for real and yep, from the two for the two thousands,
- 35:20bro. Like, like I said, we we gotta do a deep dive
- 35:22episode just on that run, bro, because that ship is legendary and like
- 35:25a lot of people don't even know about that. With that all right,
- 35:29So the second one is one of the last male R and B groups to
- 35:34make real noise. This suggestive hit set the tone for this Southern based group.
- 35:40The options are Easy Yet, B two K and Pretty Ricky. One
- 35:46of the last male R and B groups to make real noise. This suggestive
- 35:52hit set the tone for this Southern based group. Be Pretty Riaky, Pretty
- 35:59Riaky's correct? And what was the song line? Nope, no grind with
- 36:06me? Oh no, but got grind with me this first. That was
- 36:12a little tricky one because they had them both kind of around the same time.
- 36:15I think, yeah they did. Yeah, I might have. I
- 36:16might have caught on late for one. Yeah, but yeah, it was
- 36:22a grind with me and bro. I can't even think of like a male
- 36:25R and B group that did anything since then. And uh, b K
- 36:31he was after that. B two K was like coming. They came out
- 36:37before then, and they were like kind of like on their their downswing around
- 36:40that time. But yeah, last one, This often made fun of hip
- 36:47hop song, was a surprising single from this semi retired rapper turned actor.
- 36:53The options are Will Smith, Mark Wahlberg, and t I. This often
- 37:00made fun of hip hop song was a surprising single from the semi retired rapper
- 37:05turned actor Will Smith. Mark Wahlberg t I said, Will Smith. Will
- 37:12Smith is the one. What's the song Wiggy Wiggy wild? Nah? Bro?
- 37:19That was way earlier. It was switch. Oh, I forgot about
- 37:24that song, Bro. That song was terrible. That that song got made
- 37:29fun of, like almost instantly when it dropped. Yeah, and I remember
- 37:32like he was like dancing with a big group of people. Yeah, yeah,
- 37:36he was Yo. That song was terrible. Bro. You know it's
- 37:38funny because I rocket Will Smith's music even though it's like mad bubblegum. I
- 37:43was a big fan of like that first album that had like the extended version
- 37:46of the Fresh Prince song on it. Yeah, big like Big Willi style
- 37:52was dope but dog like anything like after Big Willie style like he was.
- 37:58It was whack. Bro. I'm sorry, it was just terribly wid Yeah.
- 38:01But I like those soundtrack like wild West Bad Boys, the Bend in
- 38:06Black track. Yeah, I like those. I always liked those two because
- 38:09it was kind of like we were talking about, like he was. He
- 38:12was doing those songs like from the point of view of the character. So
- 38:15like even with like Wow, Wild West one, he was able to get
- 38:19like little slick, like like killer type vibes, you know what I mean,
- 38:22even though he was never on that and they let me like Bro though
- 38:25the wa Wah West song low key let me know, like Bro Will Smith
- 38:29wanted to get on some ignorant stupid ship. He could he could have been
- 38:32one of them like rappers, you know what I'm saying. Like he could
- 38:35have did his thing and he could have been on it because like he had
- 38:37a couple of lines in that joint that it was like he you could tell
- 38:40he was like, all right, now I cannot say some tough ship,
- 38:43let me do it. You know, I think that was I think he
- 38:46had to hold that back a lot exactly exactly, and Bro like kind of
- 38:52like to tie it in with the content thing is like that, that's like
- 38:54that that uh that struggle, Bro, Like how do you do your content
- 38:59and do your but still staying true to what you're about, you know what
- 39:01I mean? Not selling out. It's real easy to sell. If you
- 39:07pick one side you and you want to stay consistent, You're gonna have to
- 39:09stay on that side, Bro, keep doing that same kind of person you
- 39:13don't want to be. But exactly, it's too late. We'll run through
- 39:16this top ten real quick. This was still a pretty good year, man,
- 39:22so we got I'm gonna just throw this in there as a honorable mention
- 39:27just because I love this song. But number twelve was slowed down Bobby Valentino.
- 39:31Man, it was in the in the top ten the week before.
- 39:37That was a joint right there, Tim and Bob bro Their production was crazy.
- 39:43But anyway, we're talking about the top ten for the Billboard Top ten
- 39:49for June two thousand, celebrating my birthday. So you were celebrating your birthday
- 39:54to these joints two thousand and five, this birthday, this which was on
- 39:59the radio. So number ten was hater love it fifty game, number nine,
- 40:06since You've been gone, Kelly Clarkson, Number eight, grind with me,
- 40:10pretty Ricky, Number seven, switch Will Smith. Number six, Behind
- 40:17these Hazel Eyes Kelly Clarkson, I don't know what that is and I don't
- 40:22want to know. Number five. I remember this song. This song was
- 40:25funny and that in a good way. Number five, don't funk with my
- 40:29heart The Black Eyed Peas, Bro. The Black Eyed Peas is like if
- 40:32they would have dropped that music now, it would have seemed like it was
- 40:36parody music, right, Yeah, that's crazy all right. And then number
- 40:39four was Oh Sierra and Ludacris. That was one of the songs that,
- 40:45like, yeah, exactly, bro. It was like it was one of
- 40:47those that it was like clear what they were trying to do with it,
- 40:50but it was actually dope for what it was. It's not and I always
- 40:52wanted to know Lutis park Yep. Yeah, that was when Ludacris was like
- 40:58the verse killer man. Remember when it was like the Little Wayne before Little
- 41:00Wayne is c oh yeah, big time. He was crushing everything facts number
- 41:06three just a little bit, fifty, number two Hall the Back Girl,
- 41:10Gressa Fani, and number one We Belonged Together Mariah Carry Yeah, I heard
- 41:15you say that, epic, bro. Yeah, that's why I didn't throw
- 41:19it in because I noticed that I was saying it out loud to myself.
- 41:22You know, I can't say that one that that she she came through with,
- 41:29that one that she still his city today, timeless music. That was
- 41:32after like a little layoff, if I remember correctly, that was like when
- 41:36she kind of like transitioned into like the grown Mariah, like she was still
- 41:40like the girl next door. Mariah before that music, you know what I
- 41:44mean, that was a that was I mean, she was already solidified,
- 41:50but at the time she was relatively still young because it was the nineties,
- 41:54you know, that was the ear she just got started so early. Yeah,
- 41:58it was like, you know, she was in her maybe like twelveth
- 42:00or tenth year like really being out, so it was still relatively young.
- 42:05But she smashed it out the park, bro like that. She just bro.
- 42:09Mariah's Mariah broh. And I watched she performed We've Been On Together on
- 42:15some holiday some holiday concert just last year, and the back rubber was fucked
- 42:19up, so she's saying the whole part by herself where she breaks she goes
- 42:22off at the end. Yeah, Bro, it still sounds like the track
- 42:25the actual song crazy Bro crazy, and it's like Mariah like and not just
- 42:30Mariah, but it was like the Gateway but like the Honey song, and
- 42:36specifically the beat for Honey was like one of the first times I really like
- 42:42remember being like, Yo, this beat is crazy. Like that melody of
- 42:47that piano in that beat drove me nuts for years. That Yo, that
- 42:55that little jingle, that melody right there, bro to me is like the
- 43:00best, like the best little run of yeah fast. Something about it is
- 43:07so different to me, you know what I'm saying, Like it's just so
- 43:09like dog whoever came like whoever first did that little riff or whatever on the
- 43:15piano. I don't know what the term for what that is is, dog,
- 43:19but that is to me is like the goaded melody of all time.
- 43:22Bro. And then and how the locks and may slid on that beat too
- 43:28like that, and that was it. That is like what you're saying.
- 43:30You hear her vocalizing in the beginning, you hear the beat like the beat
- 43:36is already fire. Then you hear that piano. Then you hear that bass,
- 43:42you know, and then the beat drops and then dog jadakiss and stolespeed
- 43:49back and forth. Then she comes in with the singing and the strong singing.
- 43:53Oh Bro, that song, like I said, dog, bro the
- 43:58in like all the way that song starts and just the song itself, but
- 44:02that whole song, bro is like to me, is like a fucking masterpiece
- 44:07on another level. Bro. Yeah, there's nothing that was repeated in that
- 44:10song. Dog. I feel like that is that is like low key like
- 44:15and they might not even know, but that's part of the reason why the
- 44:17Locks hated Diddy so much. It's like, bro, how are we such
- 44:21a part of this? Like, how are we so instrumental to this fucking
- 44:24masterpiece? And we're not getting paid? Broy Like even though they leave,
- 44:30she got was like, yeah, we're gonna leave. She got this way,
- 44:34We're just gonna have y'all. I think I might have been dreaming this,
- 44:37or it might have just been a thing where I just feel like,
- 44:39this is what happened. But I think they said, like even she was
- 44:43like, bro, like I don't got nothing for this, Like this ship
- 44:45is a fucking you know what I'm saying. This is crazy. But I
- 44:49don't think it would have hit the same with him, Honey, I think
- 44:51like that it definitely would have. That's a good choice. It's like the
- 44:54off the what's it called rest in Peace? Takeoff? Take Off not on
- 44:59batter bougie, you know what I mean? Like take off is a slider,
- 45:01bro, and he's fired, you know what I'm saying. And but
- 45:06for whatever reason, he just wasn't on that song. Supposedly that was a
- 45:08solo joint that Offset did with Uzi on it, and then they ended up
- 45:14wanting to turn it into a Migos record because they needed a single, and
- 45:16then they threw Quavo on it. Yep. But yeah, man, I'm
- 45:23excited to get into that concert. Talk man, but is there anything else
- 45:28you want to talk about? My friend? I know you in the last
- 45:30stretch of the move three we slept. It's gonna get better now we just
- 45:36keep talking about it. Man, It's gonna be. It's gonna be a
- 45:38lot of a lot of things we're gonna work on when I'm back in Orlando.
- 45:42I'm just just looking forward to that time. Slying by. Yes,
- 45:45sir, I'm I'm in like a like a transitional phase with the music and
- 45:52just like what what I'm working on. I don't like, I don't even
- 45:55really know what's coming next for me, but I'm in vigorated by the talk
- 46:00that I had with Freddie earlier Slash, the talk that continued with you,
- 46:06and I'm just I'm ready to hit the ground running. I don't know what
- 46:08that is yet. Hopefully I'll have something to talk about the next episode,
- 46:14So just stay butter shout out yes sir. The cashiers cash yo, my
- 46:20bad. I don't know. I already said to stay butter. But I
- 46:22gotta say this little part. I think I said it in the Unk episode,
- 46:25but it was so long ago when I first met Unk and heard his
- 46:30tag, his tag and shout out to click clak because he's the one that
- 46:32did the tag. His tag says cash me out, Unk, which you
- 46:37know they're the cashiers. His name is Unk. It's a dope, you
- 46:42know, it's super dope. It's a dope idea. But I don't know
- 46:45if it was because he's white, bro, But I thought the thing said
- 46:51cats me out, you know what I mean. Like I thought it was
- 46:55like, yeah, Unk, Uh thought it was you that's that that was
- 47:01saying that too. Yeah that's funny, bro. And for mad long,
- 47:07I thought it was saying cats me out, which was dope to me.
- 47:10You know what I'm saying. I'm like, oh, that's dope, like
- 47:13he has some yeah, like because it's like an old little phrase, you
- 47:17know what I mean. That's kind of right, you know what I'm saying,
- 47:21like cats me out? And I really thought that's what it said.
- 47:27Bro says cash me out and then it has the cash registers sounding it to
- 47:30him. Oh yeah that's fire too. But I was I really thought it
- 47:34was cats me out bro oh mansus a captain apt not not append, not
- 49:19not contut, not not count up, not being not doing count up,
- 50:24not being nothing after a
