- 0:21All right, everybody, you are listening to Eagles postgame analysis here at the
- 0:24Philadelphia Sports Table podcast show, the longest running weekly Philly sports podcast show in
- 0:28the world, over ten and a half years strong, and Week twelve of
- 0:32the Philadelphia Eagles twenty twenty three twenty twenty four season is now in the books.
- 0:37They beat the Buffalo Bills by a score of thirty seven to thirty four
- 0:42in overtime at Lincoln Financial Field ten in one, clinching a playoff berth here
- 0:50in week twelve. My gosh, what a game, and we are gonna
- 0:54get into it. We're gonna break it down, give our takeaways and our
- 0:56grades as we always do on our Eagles post game show. Warren, I'm
- 1:00here at my good buddy, Josh Schuster, Josh, buddy, How you
- 1:03doing, man? I don't know about you, but my heart is.
- 1:06My heart's beating a little bit here. How are you doing here, buddy?
- 1:10I am, I am alive, I am well. I can't breathe
- 1:15and that's okay. Yes, I set off you know, the the loud
- 1:19noise alarm that the watch will put off. Yes, I'm watching in my
- 1:25office by myself, and I set the set the alarm off for the loud
- 1:29noises. So I'm I'm good Man, good Man, good Man. It's
- 1:34good to say, Hey Josh really quick before we get into this. Where
- 1:37can folks find you on the interwebs out there? And what you're doing in
- 1:38the in the world of sports, my friend. Yeah, so I help
- 1:45right and and cover the Union. We're not gonna talk about that from Saturday.
- 1:51I forgot. We're here to do positive things only. Jeff at Philadelphia
- 1:55Soccer now and over at Brotherly Game covering the Flyers as well on Twitter.
- 2:05I refuse to call it by the new thing Twitter. I am at fly
- 2:07Guy, Josh ninety one. Oh Josh, they almost gave us heart attacks.
- 2:14They almost gave us heart attacks here. But let's get into our themes
- 2:17from this game. First and foremost, the one hundred and eighty ninth game
- 2:22for Brandon Graham. He now has the Eagles all time record for games played.
- 2:27He passed David Akers. And also we have to note to some injuries
- 2:30I think in this game before we get into like, really the themes of
- 2:34what we saw kind of on the field. Injuries Fletcher Cox, Zach Cunningham
- 2:38left in this game, Milton Williams did not play, and as we know,
- 2:42Lane Johnson right before the game he was down. He was graded to
- 2:46questionable and then doubtful, and then he was out. And the Eagles came
- 2:52into this game without their starting right tackle and All Pro Jack Driscoll was next
- 2:58man up. He started for lay and there were some major difficulties in pass
- 3:01protection with him. Right off the bat, we had Jalen Hurts throwing the
- 3:05ball away the first three plays of the game because Jack Driscoll was not knowing
- 3:08what he was doing in pass pro early on. But the injuries in this
- 3:13game, really the Eagles were able to overcome a lot. At the end
- 3:16of the day, in overtime, they were able to come overcome I should
- 3:20say, these injuries that they that they saw on the defensive side of the
- 3:23ball the offensive side of the ball. That is one of my themes from
- 3:25this game. But there are a lot of other themes to get into as
- 3:29well. So Buddy, I'm gonna let you kind of take the reins here
- 3:31right off the bat, major theme of this game. What do you think
- 3:35it is? Well, I think it's I think it's two things. Jeff,
- 3:38I think you hit on the first one. And I hate it when
- 3:40the fan base blames the rets and blames injuries. Yeah, and this is
- 3:45a prime example good teams. That last call on Josh Allen was horrible.
- 3:50You know what, it didn't matter, Yeah, it didn't matter. The
- 3:53Eagles got the stop that they needed just enough, and they drove down and
- 3:55won. The officiating would not have cost the Eagles this game. They had
- 4:00their chance and they did it. And injuries, well, every team in
- 4:03the league is injured absolutely absolutely really quick, with every team, yes,
- 4:06yes, well, with regard to penalties, really quick. We have to
- 4:11note it wasn't just the Eagles getting called on penalties within the course of this
- 4:15game. They were only called four times on the Eagles for thirty yards eleven
- 4:19penalties for the Buffalo Bills. Ten of them came in the first half.
- 4:26Ten of them came within the first half. It is incredible to me that
- 4:30this team was able to continue to forge ahead the way that the Buffalo Bills
- 4:32did with ten penalties in the first half. They certainly they certainly were a
- 4:38little bit more disciplined. But you're absolutely right. You can't blame penalties all
- 4:42the time, of course, you know, I mean, of course We've
- 4:45seen some games where where the referees actually do determine the outcome of a game.
- 4:49This certainly wasn't going to be one of those. And I'm sorry if
- 4:53I interrupted you with regard to the injuries and the points you wanted to make
- 4:55there, So go ahead, buddy, Yeah, it's those are my two
- 4:59weeks arguments from a fan. I don't I frankly don't tolerate it in the
- 5:04midst of a debate. The second thing is what I pointed out to you
- 5:08just before we recorded. I said, this showed the difference between two quarterbacks.
- 5:14I don't want to hear Josh Allen is elite anymore. Jalen Hurts is
- 5:16elite. I will not allow anymore Jalen Hurts slander. That man might be
- 5:20the most clutch athlete in all of Philadelphia, maybe ever he is. The
- 5:27second half comes and I don't know if he just like smashes his head into
- 5:33the lockers and then decides he's just going to completely come out different. But
- 5:39every week, every week I had said, I have a screenshot that I
- 5:44called the Josh Allen interception. You knew it was coming with Jalen Hurts in
- 5:48the second half. You don't even have to worry about turnover. And I
- 5:51had zero doubt that they were going to go down and at the very least
- 5:55get a field goal because Jalen Hurts would will them to victory. That's an
- 5:59elite QUI Josh Allen is not elite, absolutely, you know. We saw
- 6:02it in tonight's game. And I can't stand talking about him anymore because the
- 6:05Eagles played him last week and we have to hear about Patrick Mahomes here and
- 6:10there. Patrick Mahomes had a terrible first half in his game this week against
- 6:15the LA Raiders La Raiders, Las Vegas Raiders. Sorry, was watching that
- 6:19game, not watching that game, but I kind of had. I was
- 6:24following what was going on, mainly because of my fantasy teams, quite frankly,
- 6:29but you see these quarterbacks, whether it is Patrick Mahomes, and yes,
- 6:32Eagles beat Mahomes last week, but whether it's Jalen Hurts too. The
- 6:35fact of the matter is Jalen Hurts had a terrible first half. We saw
- 6:41a tenth interception by Hurts this season in the second quarter. Ball was deflected
- 6:45by Leonard Floyd who was unblocked off the edge, and then the Bills score
- 6:49five plays later on Josh Allen's rushing touchdown. You also have Jalen Hurts again
- 6:56turning the ball over on that fumble with the handoff to Kenny Gainwell, well,
- 7:00he was able to bounce back. He was he was able to say,
- 7:03Okay, we're gonna forget what happened there. We're gonna forget the fact
- 7:06that we were only able to produce and generate ninety nine total yards in the
- 7:12first half, and we need to regroup. We need to get in a
- 7:15better headspace. We need to execute. And that's what Jalen Hurts did,
- 7:18and that is what Josh Allen failed to do. Yes, should Gabe Davis
- 7:24have made that that catch at the end or toward the end of overtime.
- 7:29Absolutely, but he didn't because he that team is just not as clutch as
- 7:34this team, in specifically Jalen Hurts when it really matters. It's a great
- 7:41theme of what this game. I think. I think that's the overall theme
- 7:44of this game. You know what you just said. You know there are
- 7:46two quarterbacks who are really good quarterbacks. One is elite in Jalen Hurts,
- 7:49and then you have Josh Allen, who's He's a pretty good quarterback, but
- 7:53I don't think he can be the elite or in that category anymore. I
- 7:59just I find it amazing how this team has been able to bounce back and
- 8:03the fact that, if you don't mind getting to another theme with regard to
- 8:05the defense here, the fact that this defense, excuse me, was coming
- 8:13into this game. They were the twenty seventh ranked defense coming into this game.
- 8:20On third down once again, atrocious on third down, but they were
- 8:24able to get it done third down efficiency, my gosh. The Bills went
- 8:28thirteen of twenty two on third down. The Eagles offense went four of eleven.
- 8:33It's just the Eagles defense is not good on third downs. We've seen
- 8:37them giving up tons and tons of yards on third down, third and long
- 8:43in this game a number of times. But at the end of the day,
- 8:46I'm gonna use tenacious, I'm gonna use the word resilient. That's what
- 8:50this Eagles team is. And they're ten to one as a result. Josh,
- 8:52So, my gosh, I could keep going on and on here,
- 8:54but I mean, tenacity and just resilience is what this team is becoming here.
- 9:01Yeah, the defense is maddening. You gave the third down conversion.
- 9:07But what you didn't mention in there was the Bills were over seventy percent over
- 9:11seventy percent on third and eight or more. Think about that. It's incredible.
- 9:18It's just it. It's mind numbing. Teams really should just go in
- 9:22kneel for the first two plays of each drive and just then go forward on
- 9:28third and long because it marks almost every time. Yep. But I'm not
- 9:33going to complain too much. This is what a great championship caliber team does.
- 9:43And as we go on, I'm going to get into a narrative that
- 9:45I want to completely undo that the Eagles have not played anybody, because I
- 9:50am really tired, especially from Cowboys fans, hearing that they haven't beaten anybody.
- 9:56To talk, they haven't been the Cowboys this season. I'm not beating
- 10:00a team over five hundred this year. They haven't one of two teams in
- 10:03the entire NFL. Yes, yeah, it's amazing, you know. I
- 10:09do wonder looking at the team stats, Josh, I wonder looking at the
- 10:13team stats, how much time of possession really matters with regard to this Eagles
- 10:18team anymore. The Eagles held the ball in this game twenty six minutes and
- 10:20fifty three seconds and the Bills held the ball for forty minutes and thirty seconds.
- 10:26I wonder how much that inevitably means, because you know, we've been
- 10:28talking on this Eagles postgame podcast show for many, many years about about a
- 10:35specific stat and it usually is a stat where whoever has more yards per play
- 10:41they end up winning the game almost always, I would say ninety five percent
- 10:46of the time. And the Eagles were five point eight yards per play in
- 10:48this game to five point five yards to the Buffalo Bills time of possession.
- 10:54I just don't know how much that matters anymore, especially with this Eagles team,
- 10:58and it's interesting to look at the yards per play once again holding up.
- 11:03I think yards per play really matters a lot more at least with this
- 11:07with regard to this Eagles team than time of possession, quite frankly, because
- 11:11there were a lot of big plays that the Eagles made on offense when they
- 11:15needed to make them, much like last week eleven with the game in Kansas
- 11:18City as well. I don't know, why do you have any thoughts on
- 11:20that? I do. I've mentioned I helped cover soccer, so I'm going
- 11:26to bring soccer into this. In soccer, looking at which team has possession
- 11:31is completely fruitless. Now I don't view it that way in football. I
- 11:37think it can be a marker. But to me, there's only one team
- 11:39stat that matters, and it's turnovers. There you go, inevitably, with
- 11:45the exception of today, the team that loses the turnover battle loses the game.
- 11:50It is almost That's why it sounds like coach speak, but it's true.
- 11:54And today the Eagles, because they are the team that they are and
- 12:00they are championship caliber, they had more turnovers, but you know what,
- 12:05they weren't in the clutch moments. Yeah, and they were able to overcome
- 12:07it. Absolutely absolutely. That's the only team stat that really matters to me
- 12:13in terms of you know where I really my eyes go necessarily right to that.
- 12:18I think that's fair. I think it's very fair too. And I
- 12:22think it's also fair of US Eagles fans. I mean, I wasn't doing
- 12:26it during the course of the game, but you see it, you know,
- 12:28especially after last week's game in Kansas City. The first half of this
- 12:33game, so many fans coming down on Brian Johnson for the play calling,
- 12:39and it's a combination of play calling and just lack of execution on the field
- 12:45as well. I mean, I don't understand how it's third and fourteen at
- 12:48one point in the game and you have wide receivers like Devonte Smith and AJ
- 12:52Brown and you're throwing a wide receiver screen to Julio Jones. I don't understand
- 12:58that. I guess I think that's a terrible play. But I wonder more
- 13:01in terms of the game plan itself, Josh if we can and should be
- 13:05critical of Brian Johnson and even Nick Sirianni as well, because they didn't get
- 13:09DeAndre Swift moving until the middle of the third quarter, and once the run
- 13:16game started going, this offense was able to move the ball down the field.
- 13:20And I know sounds very simplistic, sounds simple, but that was the
- 13:24reality and that's the way football is played. And I don't know this.
- 13:28This screwing around with some of the play calling in the first half, I
- 13:33just I don't understand it, and it put the Eagles in a hole.
- 13:37It put them in so much of a hole that I think it was where
- 13:41to have this written down here, Yes it was. When the score was
- 13:43twenty four to fourteen. It was the largest deficit entering a fourth quarter for
- 13:48this Philadelphia Eagles team here in twenty twenty three, and a lot of that
- 13:52was because not just a play calling, but lack of execution as well,
- 13:54all coming together and gelling. But I do think there is I do think
- 14:01there is validity and being critical of the offensive play calling, especially to start
- 14:05these games. I don't know what are your thoughts. Yeah, so I've
- 14:07I have kind of two thoughts off of this. Okay. The first is
- 14:11today I couldn't take Tony Romo anymore. Oh my god. I put on
- 14:16the radio and it was synced, which was great. And in the first
- 14:24half especially, you kept hearing that Hurts changed the play. So I have
- 14:30a hard time blaming Sirianni Ryan Johnson for putting the game and the best player
- 14:39on the field. I can't. I can't fault that. The second thing
- 14:45is, believe it or not, the run plays and pass plays were almost
- 14:50equal. Yeah by halftime. You know, I'm not a big run the
- 14:56ball guy. I think that there are certain game plans and times. Today
- 15:01I was pissed because I'm like, I don't want to drive in this weather.
- 15:05Yeah, we should not be throwing it in this weather, right,
- 15:07let's take time and run the football, because it's not like the Bills have
- 15:11an elite run defense anymore. The perception is they do, but they really
- 15:15don't, right, So in that sense, it is what it is.
- 15:18But there were a lot of quarterback runs and they weren't hurt scrambling for his
- 15:22life. It was the RPO. Rather than him handing it off to Swift,
- 15:28he opted to run it, which is fine, but I think that
- 15:31explained some of the Swift carries being down. So anyway, long answer short,
- 15:35I'm not gonna blame them for putting the ball in the hands of their
- 15:39best player and it hurts, you know, changes the play. It kind
- 15:43of is what it is, and we'll live with it. And we have
- 15:46to trust him too, I guess, right, I guess we have to
- 15:48trust him. I mean, he's able to do this last if he's able
- 15:50to do this in this game against the Buffalo Bills last week against the Kansas
- 15:54City Chiefs on the road, yeah, folks, we gotta trust Jalen Hurts.
- 15:58He made he played like garbage in one half of the game, and
- 16:02then the next half he may play absolute lights out And let's go through some
- 16:06stats really quick. Jalen Hurts eighteen of thirty one for two hundred yards.
- 16:11He averaged six point five yards per attempt, three passing touchdowns, one interception.
- 16:17He had a rating of ninety six point two rushing on the day,
- 16:19this Eagles team rushed for a total of five point eight yards per carry.
- 16:25DeAndre Swift with eighty yards on fourteen carries. Jalen Hurt sixty five yards on
- 16:30fourteen carries. Kenneth Gainwell carried the ball twice, as did Boston Scott.
- 16:34Kenneth Gainwell had twenty six yards in Boston Scott had fourteen total of one hundred
- 16:40and eighty five total yards on the ground from the passing standpoint. Like I
- 16:45said, two hundred total yards in terms of passing and reception. Davonte Smith
- 16:48what a game. He was targeted eight times, came down with seven balls
- 16:52for one hundred and six yards. He averaged fifteen point one yards per reception.
- 16:56He had a touchdown. Aj Brown had a touchdown. Alamade Zacha Zakayas
- 17:02sorry, he had a touchdown on that amazing catch. Oh my gosh,
- 17:06what an amazing throw. An amazing catch right before the half there and Look,
- 17:11not having Dallas Goddard certainly has altered how the passing game is gonna.
- 17:18Look here, and they're getting it done. At the end of the day.
- 17:22You know, we had Kenneth Gainwell catching a couple balls, DeAndre Swift
- 17:25caught one, Julio Jones caught that one, as I mentioned earlier, that
- 17:27third and fourteen. But look, they didn't have to kill it in the
- 17:33on the box score here. That's where I'm going with this in terms of
- 17:37this particular theme, Josh, they didn't have to kill it, Jalen Hurstein
- 17:41kill it necessarily in the air. The running game, Yeah, one hundred
- 17:45and eighty five total rushing yards. It's really good. Five point eight yards
- 17:48per rush. That's good. But it's not like it was total domination to
- 17:52win this game. Good teams do this type of stuff and get these type
- 17:56of wins, and the box score doesn't have to be the most grand thing
- 18:00I'll see, no, because you know what, Jeff, at the end
- 18:02of the year, you know, if they win sixteen games, we aren't
- 18:06going to go back and say, hey, that box score against the Bills.
- 18:08Jeff Man, Wow, that was just terrible, right, And this
- 18:12is why I have a hard time with stats. One quarterback was twenty nine
- 18:17to fifty one for three hundred and thirty nine yards, two touchdowns in an
- 18:21interception. Another quarterback was eighteen of thirty one for two hundred yards, three
- 18:25touchdowns and one interception. You know which quarterback winds up with a better rating,
- 18:30Jalen Hurts with the less yards, less attempts. Stats are kind of
- 18:36it is what it is, and so I'm not worried about the box score.
- 18:40The only numbers that I really worry about at the box score is that
- 18:42final score. Yeah, a win is a win, yep. And there's
- 18:45five total touchdowns from Jalen Hurts in this game, yep. Five total touchdowns.
- 18:51Folks. We get frustrated with the turnovers, of course. I mean
- 18:53he's got sixteen, I think on the year now at this point. I
- 18:56mean he's he's got a lot to turnover so far this year. Zach Wilson,
- 19:02I believe has sixteen at this point in the season as well. It's
- 19:06tough, but he's able to bounce back, and that is most important when
- 19:10looking at this Philadelphia Eagles offense, for sure. Do you have any other
- 19:14themes here, Josh? Before we start getting into our grades here, mostly
- 19:18that I just hate schemes offensively and defensively across the league, these third and
- 19:23forever screenplays. Carolina did it, yeah in their game and it was terrible.
- 19:30And to throw one to Julio Jones who is not fast, just makes
- 19:34zero sense. But that's the game today. And defensively, just to have
- 19:38everybody playing way off the ball all the time, yep, I just it
- 19:42drives me crazy. But whatever, it's twenty twenty three and I guess I
- 19:47need to grow up. I don't know. I think you're fine. I
- 19:51think you're fine. In another theme that I have here before we go to
- 19:55our break, before we get into the grades, here, look Jalen Carter
- 20:00the field goal block. In this game, Britain Covey had an eighteen yard
- 20:03return, which was great to see. Look, Britain Covey has been a
- 20:08very very good punt returner this year. I'm gonna talk about his stats once
- 20:14we get to the UH, once we get to the grades, but the
- 20:17improvement from last year to this year has been significant and we have to we
- 20:22have to recognize that. I think because Britain Covey yes on that one eighteen
- 20:26yard return, really put this team in a good position to score, and
- 20:30it was it was really needed. That field goal block was needed as well.
- 20:33Special teams game through Josh. Yeah, this is recorded, Jeff,
- 20:37so we can go back in this in time as mister special Teams as I
- 20:41like to call you. Yes, Covey really has been night and day,
- 20:45and their punting has been amazing, especially today, flipping the field a couple
- 20:52of times. I'm not used to these things. Yeah, but I'll take
- 20:56it. You know, Covey's worked himself into a nice little role and his
- 21:00football IQ from this year, from last year to this year has dramatically improved.
- 21:07We never see him taking bad fair catches and he actually runs forward,
- 21:11yes with the ball, which is great progress. Yes, so yeah,
- 21:15you know what, I won't save the stats for the for the grades last
- 21:19year twenty twenty two, and yes, it was through seventeen games Britain,
- 21:23Covey averaged nine point three yards per return. This year, through ten games,
- 21:30he is averaging fourteen point six yards per return and that is before that's
- 21:36before today's game. I mean, I'm not sure that that eighteen yards is
- 21:37going to bring that fourteen point six yards up for sure, fourteen point six
- 21:42yards this year from nine point three last year. A significant and dramatic improvement.
- 21:48That is dramatic improvement in terms of field position, folks, Britain Covey.
- 21:53He absolutely deserves kudos, you know, moving forward here for sure.
- 21:57So anything else, I've had this real quick. Even more so than that,
- 22:02he's not doing the terrible fair catches. Yes, yeah, he's fair
- 22:04catching it inside the five when he should let it bounce, and then vice
- 22:08versa. He's catching it at like the one and deciding he's gonna run with
- 22:12it. Yep, he's been, he is. His football IQ is dramatically
- 22:17better. Great great point, A great point to make. As we head
- 22:21to our break. We will be back in just a bit. We're gonna
- 22:23get into some grades. Stick with us, all right, We are back
- 22:27and again we're with our friend Josh Schuster from Philadelphia Soccer NOOW dot com and
- 22:33UH love having you on, buddy, seriously, thank you for taking the
- 22:37time. I appreciate it. I really do. Always my pleasure, Jeff,
- 22:40I enjoy it. Let's get into these grades. Jalen hurts. I
- 22:41mean, he's got he's good. If it wasn't for the two turnovers,
- 22:45he'd get an A plus from me in this game. I'm giving him an
- 22:47A. What do you give him, Josh? I give him an A
- 22:49plus. I don't care about the turnovers. Okay, Batman is the most
- 22:53clutch athlete in Philadelphia, and I can't I can't give him. He is
- 22:57the reason they won this today. Yep, he is the reason there.
- 23:02So he gets an A plus. Absolutely. We discussed why before the break,
- 23:04So you go back, go back and listen to it again, folks,
- 23:07You're gonna love it. So we move on to the running backs.
- 23:12Look, it was it was really amazing to see how the running backs were
- 23:17hardly used at all during the course of the first half. Like I said
- 23:21and mentioned earlier, DeAndre Swift, really they didn't get him going until halfway
- 23:25through the third quarter. But I mentioned the stats before. The running backs
- 23:30did a fantastic job again, eighty yards for DeAndre Swift, Kenneth Gainwell two
- 23:36rushes for twenty six yards in Boston Scott two rushes for fourteen yards. I'm
- 23:40giving them an A. What do you give him, buddy? Yeah,
- 23:44I agree, I give him an A. Jeff. Let's do a little
- 23:47time travel here back to the NFL Draft. Do you remember how mad Eagles
- 23:52twitter was that they didn't draft Bijon Robinson or have the chance to. Yes,
- 23:56did you rather have Bjon Robinson or Jalen Carter on your team? I'd
- 24:00rather have Jail and Carter, my friend. Yes. I mean, look,
- 24:03DeAndre Swift is great, but with the Eagles offensive line, even Kenny
- 24:08Gainwell is able to average thirteen yards of carry today, right Like, they
- 24:14don't need a superstar running back. They need someone who can take care of
- 24:18the football. They did that, They turned it up in the second half.
- 24:22They get an eight. Yeah, I love it. I love it.
- 24:26Receivers, tight ends and wide receivers in this game, again, with
- 24:30Dallas Goddard being out, it has been an altered version of what we've seen,
- 24:37you know, throughout the majority of the season. When he's out there,
- 24:40there's a lot of versatility I think in terms of the receivers. Even
- 24:42I gotta say Jack Stall with his one catch on the day for fourteen yards
- 24:47and it was for a crucial first down. Fantastic AJ Brown nine targets on
- 24:52the day, he only came down with five balls for thirty seven yards,
- 24:55but he did have a fantastic touchdown, and as did Devonte Smith. As
- 24:59we know too, I'm gonna give the receivers and tight ends in general.
- 25:03I'm going to give him an A minus this week. What do you give
- 25:04him? We'll give him an A. Okay, they didn't make sure.
- 25:08The only drop that happened was a good one in overtime from A. J.
- 25:14Brown. He was convenient with his drop. But in all seriousness,
- 25:18if if one of the Eagles wide receivers had to get injured or Dallas Goddard
- 25:22had to get injured, I'll take Dallas Goddard. He really hasn't been a
- 25:26factor this year, even before the injury, to be perfectly honest, maybe
- 25:30one week he was. So I do think it opens up the field a
- 25:33little bit more. But the combination of DeVonta and aj is just it's incredible,
- 25:41and they are shorthanded, reliable, and they don't drop anything, and
- 25:47so you know they get an a all right, very good offensive line again.
- 25:52Jack Driscoll filling in for Lane Johnson had some difficulties in past protection,
- 25:56but I think they were able to really adjust again with Jack Stone bringing him
- 26:00in. How many times did we see him lining up right next to Jack
- 26:03Driscoll a number of times. Don't have the stats in front of me,
- 26:07but it was very visible and obvious to the eye. And I think the
- 26:11offensive line in general did a pretty good job. You had Jason Kelcey twice
- 26:15twice, oh my gosh, on the same drive right in the fourth quarter,
- 26:19just had those two false starts. Still Jake Elliott was able to nail
- 26:23that fifty nine yard er. God bless him. It's oh my gosh,
- 26:27we get to special teams. I can't believe what great I'm gonna be giving
- 26:30him. However, Jason Kelcey a bit of a rough time when when it
- 26:34really mattered and then it didn't because of Jake Elliott. But I'm gonna give
- 26:40the offensive line this week in a minus. What do you give him?
- 26:44I'm gonna give him a beat. Okay, I know they're they're struggling with
- 26:47injury, but the reality is the last couple of weeks it has not been.
- 26:53And this is the Jeff Statlin's credit. Not only is he the only
- 26:57offensive line coaches named that he will actually know, but they seem to,
- 27:03no matter the injuries, still be an elite offensive line. Yeah, the
- 27:07last couple of weeks. There's been a couple of kinks in the armor,
- 27:11and so they're gonna get a B for me. It's above a sea,
- 27:15which is average. But I can't give him an A. Okay, all
- 27:19right, I think that's fair. Let's move the defensive side of the ball.
- 27:22With the injuries on the defensive line, my goodness. Like we mentioned
- 27:26earlier, Fletcher Cox, Milton Williams, they were out. I mean we
- 27:32saw Jalen Carter coming out at one point. Also Davis came out at one
- 27:37point as well. I mean they were getting the crap kicked out of them.
- 27:41Not dominant by any stretch of the imagination. Because when you look at
- 27:45the stats and you see the sacks, one sack on Josh Allen, four
- 27:49quarterback hits. Not the greatest day from this line, and I'm gonna be
- 27:55giving them a C plus this week. Actually, what do you give the
- 27:57defensive line this week? Buddy? Well, I thought I was gonna be
- 28:02harsh and given a B. I they get a D for me on tackling,
- 28:08okay them, and it's gonna be the same thing for the linebackers.
- 28:12They could not tackle today and it was infuriating. It's not that they couldn't
- 28:17get pressure. It's not that they couldn't get tackles for loss, they just
- 28:21couldn't tackle today. But they get an A plus for me in terms of
- 28:26my optimism of the future of the Eagles offensive line, simply because it was
- 28:32when the old yeah, sorry, the defensive line, when the older players
- 28:36went out and the more young players went in. And this is why you
- 28:40drafted the lines. I know it drives people crazy, but this is why
- 28:44they The Bills had a much harder time scoring. They were slowed down,
- 28:48and so that to me, it deserves an A plus. I'm gonna give
- 28:52the young guys an A plus. The tackling a D will come out at
- 28:55about a B minus. Will say, okay, sounds good. You mentioned
- 28:57the linebackers. I was gonna give the line a C minus. I mean
- 29:00Zach Cunningham. I think we know how valuable he has been this year,
- 29:04and we saw it in this game when he went out. I mean,
- 29:07with Moro and Ellis out there, there's some penalties, there's some other issues
- 29:11mistackles like you saw C minus from linebackers. For me, what do you
- 29:14give them, I'm giving him a D plus. Okay, you get a
- 29:19beat or better for me if I don't sit there and go the Eagles need
- 29:23to draft a linebacker, and most weeks that's been the case this year.
- 29:27Right right today, my Atlanta was it bad? They need tight ends?
- 29:33Are going to continue to destroy this Eagles roster. So we'll see what happens.
- 29:40Yep, all right. The secondary this week, I mean they man,
- 29:44there were some rough spots and quite frankly, they got lucky a couple
- 29:48times in terms of I know Darius Slay should have been probably flagged a couple
- 29:52times other members of the secondary where they got lucky. But they played physical,
- 29:56and that's what we want to see from the secondary. I don't want
- 29:59to see a bunch of guys out there consistently just you know, playing off
- 30:03the receiver fifteen yards, you know, And of course we saw a little
- 30:06bit of that from his own coverage standpoint. But I think the secondary did
- 30:10a really good job. And I really think that, you know, with
- 30:11Bradbury's interception as well, you know, they needed to get turnovers when they
- 30:17needed to get them in this game. And I'm gonna give the secondary again
- 30:21because of that interception too. I'm gonna give him a I would say,
- 30:23probably a B plus actually, because you know there was some rough rough times
- 30:29for them in this game, for sure, but B plus for me,
- 30:32what do you give the secondary? I'm gonna give him an A minus.
- 30:36Okay, and I'm calling this week the Jeff's Nemesis week. Bradberry did not
- 30:41play terrible, and he did not you have many weeks you have just talked
- 30:47about how old he looks. Yes, he was clutched today. Well,
- 30:49he did give up the one touchdown, but honestly, I think any corner
- 30:52there probably it was a perfect pass by Allen and Davis did a great job
- 30:56of hauling in the catch and running his re out yep and then with Covey.
- 31:02So this is the Jeff's Nemesis week. And so it led to a
- 31:07win, and that's good. But yeah, they get a they get an
- 31:10A minus for me. All right, let's move over to the coaching special
- 31:12teams, defensive coaching and also offensive coaching. I am going to give special
- 31:18teams this week an A plus A plus. Baby, what do you give
- 31:22him? Josh? I think you can't give him anything other than an A
- 31:27plus. I just we don't talk enough about Jake Elliott and kind of shame
- 31:33on us for not really talking about him that that man is. He's now
- 31:38nine for nine when the game is on the line. Yep. It was
- 31:41pouring rain and he drilled his almost sixty yarder. It's incredible. And he
- 31:48had room, he had room two he could have made his oh yeah in
- 31:53rain. Yeah. A plus. Defensive side of the ball, Sean de
- 31:57Sigh, Man, it was rough during certain times of the game, and
- 32:01you know, overall, oh boy, it's just oh boy, Ben,
- 32:06but don't break defense. And that's what he's been putting out last week against
- 32:09the Chiefs and this week as well. I mean, I'm gonna give him
- 32:15a B minus this week. What do you give Sean decigh Goodness, See,
- 32:20if his quarterback isn't Jalen Hurts, the defense costs him this game.
- 32:23That's true. Yeah, he gets a C from me, and that's mostly
- 32:28because Jalen Hurts helps give An a to balance out at D. Yeah,
- 32:30so I'll give him a C plus, all right, a little generous,
- 32:34all right. The offense, Nick Sirianni Brian Johnson. Despite the first half,
- 32:39it's all about resiliency and tenaciousness. As I said earlier, I'm gonna
- 32:44give him an a minus actually, because I think at times the like we
- 32:47said, like we've said on these postgame shows in the past, and even
- 32:52with my friend Matt Rodgers who comes on as well, sometimes these players defy
- 32:57the coaching, and sometimes these players will win in spite of the coaching.
- 33:01I'll give the coaching this week and a mins. From an offensive standpoint,
- 33:05what do you give him, buddy, I'm I'm actually gonna give him an
- 33:08a plus, okay, And that's mostly for in game adjustments. This offense
- 33:15could not do anything in the first half. Yep. And if I told
- 33:17you, if I text you at halftime and said, Jeff, I bet
- 33:21you they score thirty seven today. Ugh, how much money do you want
- 33:23to bet? I probably would have walked away with some cash. You would
- 33:27have walked away with my kids college fun. But I can't knock the defensive,
- 33:35the offensive or defensive adjustments. But they get an A plus for me.
- 33:39All right. Wow, I can't believe that this Eagles team is ten
- 33:43and one after these games, the crazy, the quote toughest stretch of the
- 33:46season, Kansas City Chiefs, then the Buffalo Bills, the forty nine ers
- 33:52coming up, and then the Dallas Cowboys. This was that time of the
- 33:54year that we saw at the beginning of the season that oh my gosh,
- 33:58are they going to be able to do it? Folks been doing it.
- 34:00Let's see what happens Week thirteen against the San Francisco forty nine Ers. Again,

- 34:55four in overtime at the Lenk. It's gonna do a for us. Take
