- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on you. Uh huh, I sure will. Good morning everybody.
- 0:06Speaker 1: You'll listen to the voice.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Come on dig me now, one and only Steve Harvey
- 0:12Speaker 2: got a radio show.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Yep. Yeah.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Sometimes all I can say, help, man, how far I've
- 0:22Speaker 2: come is really unbelievable. But you know I finally figured
- 0:25Speaker 2: it out.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Man.
- 0:27Speaker 2: God allowed me to have the life I've had so
- 0:33Speaker 2: that I can become experienced at so many different things,
- 0:38Speaker 2: and in this experience when I'm talking and sharing with people,
- 0:42Speaker 2: I will be able to relate to a lot of
- 0:44Speaker 2: different circumstances, not exact, but just the circumstances.
- 0:48Speaker 1: You know.
- 0:49Speaker 2: You know if a person comes to me and they say, man,
- 0:51Speaker 2: I've been down and out, Okay, well I know what
- 0:53Speaker 2: that is.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Man. I didn't I didn't have any direction. Okay, got
- 0:58Speaker 1: that been there? Man?
- 1:00Speaker 2: At one point in time, man, I just kept piling
- 1:02Speaker 2: mistake on top of mistakes.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:07Speaker 2: So you know, I think what I'm trying to say
- 1:10Speaker 2: to everybody is when you're going through life and life
- 1:14Speaker 2: is dealing the cards that it deals, I want you
- 1:18Speaker 2: to understand that life deals everybody these cards, the disappointment card,
- 1:25Speaker 2: the setback card, the failure card, the mishap card, the
- 1:31Speaker 2: unexpected misery card, everybody gonna get, the grief card, everybody
- 1:38Speaker 2: gonna get, the rash of bad decision card, everybody gonna
- 1:41Speaker 2: get them. Understand that going in that everybody is gonna
- 1:48Speaker 2: get these cards is how you play them, though, you know,
- 1:56Speaker 2: from time to time, one more time, it's how you
- 1:58Speaker 2: play them, you know.
- 2:00Speaker 1: From time to time.
- 2:00Speaker 2: When I'm watching TV, I love to watch the World
- 2:04Speaker 2: Series of Poker. I like watching poker tournaments on TV
- 2:09Speaker 2: because it's really weird. What's happened to sport? To a
- 2:13Speaker 2: poker they're actually trying to call it a sport, you know.
- 2:17Speaker 2: And as to everyday guy that doesn't have to be
- 2:20Speaker 2: athletically inclined to anything, who has a shot of winning
- 2:25Speaker 2: a title if they play their cards right. The best
- 2:29Speaker 2: poker players in the world don't have the best hands.
- 2:34Speaker 1: They just make the best plays.
- 2:38Speaker 2: I've seen guys win a hand with nine to two
- 2:41Speaker 2: in they hand that's nothing, and win their hand because
- 2:45Speaker 2: they knew the bluff, they knew the odds, they calculated risks,
- 2:50Speaker 2: they made the stakes higher than the other person was
- 2:54Speaker 2: willing to pay. They gave off the illusion that they
- 2:57Speaker 2: had something when in actuality, they had nothing. So what
- 3:03Speaker 2: I enjoy about poker and watching it is that these people,
- 3:08Speaker 2: these people here, play the hand they dealt and it
- 3:12Speaker 2: ain't always a good hand. But it ain't whether your
- 3:16Speaker 2: hand is good. And it ain't whether you're gonna get
- 3:18Speaker 2: dealt bad cards or not, because you're gonna get dealt
- 3:21Speaker 2: some bad cars. Everybody ain't finna get two bullets in
- 3:23Speaker 2: their hand. You ain't finna get two aces when you
- 3:25Speaker 2: get dealt.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Uh.
- 3:27Speaker 2: You know, when you play a draw poker, some of
- 3:29Speaker 2: your cards gonna be nothing, but you gotta turn that
- 3:32Speaker 2: nothing into something. So when you get dealt these cards
- 3:35Speaker 2: in life, it ain't the fact that you getting to
- 3:37Speaker 2: keep getting them dealt. I was talking with a young
- 3:39Speaker 2: person yesterday and we were talking and we keep having
- 3:43Speaker 2: the same conversation over and over and over, and they
- 3:46Speaker 2: could not understand why they were not moving forward. But
- 3:49Speaker 2: I said, you don't understand. Every time we talk we
- 3:52Speaker 2: have the exact same conversation. It is simply because you
- 3:57Speaker 2: keep getting your cards and.
- 3:59Speaker 1: You play, and I'm the same way.
- 4:02Speaker 2: See, until you make a conscience, the conscious decision to
- 4:07Speaker 2: do something different, the results will continue to be the same.
- 4:12Speaker 2: See here's here's here's the way this works. When you're
- 4:17Speaker 2: dealt to disappointments in life. It's how you handle the
- 4:21Speaker 2: disappointments that determine their outcome and who you are. Because
- 4:26Speaker 2: everybody gonna be disappointment, Everybody gonna lose a loved one,
- 4:29Speaker 2: Everybody gonna make a bad decision, Everybody going the end
- 4:32Speaker 2: wake up one morning and have done something they regretted.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Everybody gonna get caught at the wrong time. Every everybody
- 4:40Speaker 1: gonna make a mistake. It ain't just you.
- 4:42Speaker 2: That's how you play your cards when they get dealt
- 4:45Speaker 2: to you. That determine who you are. Now, how do
- 4:48Speaker 2: I play my cards better? First of all, it's a mindset.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Quit looking at everything as just the end when it
- 4:54Speaker 2: happens to you.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Oh lord, woe is me?
- 4:57Speaker 2: No, everybody got your circumstances somewhere. It ain't old woe
- 5:04Speaker 2: as me. It's hold on, man, Okay, let me play
- 5:07Speaker 2: this out to see how God done connected this to
- 5:10Speaker 2: something else. See soon as a person have a setback,
- 5:12Speaker 2: what's the first thing A lot of people do. They
- 5:14Speaker 2: go straight negative. I can't seem to get a break,
- 5:17Speaker 2: I can't seem to move forward. Hold on, man, do
- 5:19Speaker 2: you realize this could be connected to something? See, you
- 5:23Speaker 2: got to understand, man, that this thing is all connected.
- 5:26Speaker 2: That you not having these mishaps and these spills and
- 5:29Speaker 2: accidents and falls for no reason. It's so you can
- 5:32Speaker 2: become experienced at them. So when he takes you to
- 5:35Speaker 2: the next level, when it happens again, you have no
- 5:38Speaker 2: how and how.
- 5:38Speaker 1: To handle it.
- 5:39Speaker 2: If you keep throwing yourself off the cliff every time
- 5:43Speaker 2: something happened, you just gonna be a cliff diverl man,
- 5:46Speaker 2: stop tripping yourself out. I was talking to this young person.
- 5:50Speaker 2: I kept saying, and you know what they tried to
- 5:52Speaker 2: tell me. I'm trying to stay positive. But to people
- 5:55Speaker 2: around here, they just killing that.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Oh I see.
- 5:59Speaker 2: So when you learn something and you know something, you
- 6:02Speaker 2: don't take ownership of it. You allow other people to
- 6:06Speaker 2: come into what you know and believe and shake it
- 6:09Speaker 2: loose from you. I don't care who you are. You
- 6:11Speaker 2: not doing me like that. Here's a deal. I have
- 6:14Speaker 2: a gift that was given to me from God. That
- 6:17Speaker 2: is the gift of comedy. That's what I've done. I've
- 6:19Speaker 2: made the bulk of my living on that skill set.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Right there, there are comedians who are supposedly friends of mine,
- 6:27Speaker 2: who I've worked with, who get around in huddles with
- 6:29Speaker 2: one another and they say, man, Steve really ain't funny.
- 6:33Speaker 2: I don't see what they be laughing at. He ain't
- 6:35Speaker 2: funny to me. He wasn't the funniest king to me.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Excuse me, You're irrelevant in this conversation because irregardless as
- 6:43Speaker 2: to how you feel about me, there are people think
- 6:46Speaker 2: that I'm knocked down kill over funny. But more importantly,
- 6:50Speaker 2: I own the gift that God gave to me. I
- 6:53Speaker 2: take ownership of his blessing. Cause you don't think it's so.
- 6:57Speaker 2: You ain't taking that from me. Stop letting people steal
- 7:00Speaker 2: your joy. Stop letting people take what you're supposed to know. Look,
- 7:06Speaker 2: I'm a I'm a kind person at heart.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Man.
- 7:09Speaker 2: You ain't nothing now you sitting here going man, I
- 7:12Speaker 2: guess I ain't. What's your tripping for? You are a
- 7:15Speaker 2: kind person, own that take ownership of it. Stop letting
- 7:21Speaker 2: things God has given you be taken away from others.
- 7:25Speaker 2: The devil is a cold player, and he got cold
- 7:27Speaker 2: players working for him, just shaking, just taking stuff from you.
- 7:31Speaker 2: You know, I'm a hard worker. I really am intelligent.
- 7:34Speaker 1: You stupid man. I thought I was a hard worker. Man.
- 7:37Speaker 1: They came in here and said I was stupid. Man.
- 7:39Speaker 2: I don't know what I'm doing wrong. What excuse me?
- 7:43Speaker 2: You're a very bright person. Hey, y'all take ownership. When
- 7:47Speaker 2: God gives you something, blesses you with a gift, a talent,
- 7:50Speaker 2: a skill set, a mindset.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Own it. Don't let people come in here and take
- 7:55Speaker 1: it from you. Man. Okay, I probably shouldn't have went
- 7:58Speaker 1: that here listening to the Steed Leave Harvey Morning Show
