Transcript
- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: Texanville Jack Wars fans welcome in to do wall daily presented by Jin Jack dot com i'm Jordan alluga thanks so much for being here Wednesday november fifth right now we're talking more about Jacobi Myers that is the news that has been sweeping Jacksonville over the last 24 hours or so but specifically we're talking about what Liam Cohen Jack Wars head coach and Jack Wars general manager James Clant Gladstone excuse me
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: Had to say about the Jacobi Myers trade about his addition to the team excited to take a look at what they had to say this organization since
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Tony Bicelli, Liam Cohen, James Gladstone have become the faces of the Jack Wars football team, at least from a coaching and organizational perspective, has been very open and very willing to share as much possible behind the scenes.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: Looks at inner workings of the team, being forthright with information.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: They've been willing to do that as much as I've seen a team be willing to do that.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_00]: And they're only bugaboo about it, it's like they don't want to do anything that's going to potentially put them at a competitive disadvantage or take away a competitive advantage.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: If they feel like they have the ability to share behind the scenes information or communicate through the media to the fans,
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: Clearly, they will.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: So I've really enjoyed that.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to talk about, again, Liam Cohen had a press conference today, talked about Jacobi Myers.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: If you want more of my opinion on Myers, go look at the last couple shows.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: And then James Gladstone met with a couple of people from the media earlier today before practice met with Rhino Haller and Dimitrius Harvey, a couple of others.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: And Jacksonville.com, Florida Times Union, Dimitrius Harvey, James, excuse me.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: Demetrius Harvey and Ryan O'Hallorin shared what James Gladstone had to say to them over on Jacksonville.com.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: So you can go check out that article.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to take a look at all that stuff right here right now.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: Again, really appreciate you being here.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: You can also check out jingyag.com.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: Pick up some new Duval gear like the hat I'm wearing right now.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: We will start with what James Gladstone had to say about Jacobi Myers and then talk about
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen because obviously both of these guys have their hand in this, but James Gladstone is the one who's wheeling and dealing the one who's communicating with Raiders GM, John Spytech, and the one who's also apparently communicating with the New York Jets and the Jack Wars were very interested and potentially acquiring Quinn and Williams.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: They ultimately felt like they got priced out by the Dallas Cowboys offer
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: but they were in on that, but talking about Jacobian Myers, James Gladstone said, Jacobian Myers, super power is his ability to not drop the ball, and he said, when you look at the volume of drops that we have right now, that is a critical factor, a critical part of this.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I couldn't agree more.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence has received words over the last handful of years.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: They dropped the damn ball way too often, especially this
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: Jacobi Myers is one of the most consistent past catchers in terms of just catching the ball when it arrives, whether that's in a wide open situation after you created separation, or in a contested situation.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: Jacobie Myers catches the football, so I totally get that part.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: James Ladsson said that a new contract for Jacobie Myers, who is in the final year of a contract in 2025, so the Jaguar is technically could only have Jacobie Myers for the next nine games and have given up a fourth in a six round pick.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: James Gladstone said that a new contract is not definitive at this point, like that's not definitely going to happen, but it's within the realm of possibilities.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: To me, that's just he didn't want to commit one way or the other to whether or not they're going to be bringing Jacobi Myers back, reading between the tea leaves, reading into what I've seen so far.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: I think they will bring to Kobe Myers back.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they plan to bring to Kobe Myers back as long as he comes in and is kind of the guy that they expect him to be, which there's no reason not to expect him to be a professional who brings a lot of effort.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_00]: intentionality to his play on the field and on the practice field and in the meeting room.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: So I think as long as he brings that and it seems like a decent fit, the Jaguars will probably try to resign him before he hits the open market.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: I think they'd like to keep him around here as long as they're getting exactly what they are expecting to get with a Jacobi Myers.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_00]: It hasn't really worked out with Deami Brown.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: they gave him a one year prove it deal.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: He has not proven it so far.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you do have Brian Thomas Jr. and Travis Hunter and Parker Washington for the 2025 and 2026 season at the very least, but I think having a veteran in the room like a Jacobi Myers, who actually is contributing at a high level because like Tim Patrick is a good veteran in the room, but he's just not really
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to have that real high impact and loud voice when you're not really playing all that much.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: Jacobi Myers can be the leader from a veteran's standpoint and a big time producer for them in my opinion.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: So that's where I'm at with the contract situation.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if they only get nine games out of him and they don't make the playoffs and and then he leaves that that fourth and sixth round pick will kind of look a little bit like an overpay potentially.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: James Latte on said that he really likes the versatility and he likes what he brings above the neck which is you know the mental stuff, the mental part of the game and I agree he's a smart polished
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: just a guy who knows how to get the job done in a guy who I think is very detailed oriented.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: And James Gladstone talking, this is more like big picture than just specifically about Jacobian Myers, but James Gladstone said, the idea of this being
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: talking about the Jaguar's organization in this season in 2025 in general, the idea of this being some version of a rebuild isn't in the equation.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: We're trying to win football games and everything we do is rooted in that.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's pretty straightforward.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever we feel like we can help ourselves win football games, we're going to be aggressive.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: Whenever we feel like we can help ourselves win football games, we're going to be aggressive.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: I like it, and that has been the through line since he's gotten here.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: He has not shied away from that.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's been involved in six trades I believe so far.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: Since he became the Jacksonville Jaguar's general manager.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: Now, as for Liam Cohen, he spoke to the media.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: And again, credit to Rhino Haller and Demetrius Harvey of Jacksonville.com for all those quotes.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen said that he watched a lot of Jacobi Myers being a New England guy, just seeing him with the Patriots and he always kind of admired his game likes that he's a former quarterback.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: Jacobi Myers is he Liam Cohen believes like.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: Playing quarterback kind of gives you a feel and understanding of space, angles, leverages, concepts that can help you play other positions.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: And he thinks he sees that certainly in Jacobi Myers's game.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: You also have the factor that Liam Cohen brought up.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: Edgar Bennett, the Jaguar's wide receiver coach, worked with Jacobi Myers and Vegas for multiple seasons.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: So they have a good connection there.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: And that's not necessarily going to help from a terminology standpoint because the terminology and the kind of structure of the offense in Jacksonville are much different than what Jacobian Myers has worked with over the last several years, but it could help Liam Cohen says just in Edgar Bennett's ability to know how Jacobian Myers learns and understands things, kind of that chemistry that they'll have from working with each other before.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: Strong hands, Jacobi Myers, we know all about that.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: It says he's physical, he's a separator and isolated situations, said he's only heard great things about the pro and that he's really excited to have him here.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: And the challenge really is to get Jacobi Myers ready for Sunday.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: They need numbers that receivers are in.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: I receiver right now.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar is due with the injuries.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: Brian Thomas Jr., don't know if he'll play, he didn't practice today from what we've seen so far.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yami Brown is going to be in the concussion protocol.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: It looks like with, you know, suffering a concussion on Sunday, Tim Patrick missed last game with a growing Travis Hunter.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: He's on injured reserve.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: So you're talking about Jacobi Myers, Parker Washington.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: Austin Tramwell and and Tim Jones is really the guys you have it looks like right now at wider seaver.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: Now, hopefully Brian Thomas Jr., hopefully Diamie Brown, hopefully these guys can get healthy but we'll see and also Travis Hunter not expected to be out long term, I think.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: Based on he and rapper ports reporting the Jaguars fully expect him back this season.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: Will that be right when he is first available potentially which would be after Then you know, there's three games left before he's able to come back which I think that fourth game would be against the cults
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: which would be a huge game for him to be able to potentially come back for.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: But a big thing here with getting Jacobi Myers ready for this game against the Houston Texans is he will be playing more outside, kind of like an X or a Z receiver.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: He'll do both of those things a little bit more.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: Parker Washington will be the F the slot.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot more on the plate mentally of the player who is in the slot because they're moving around there adjusting to different things going on.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: If you're running outside in this system, it's not nearly as complex, so that's where they're going to kind of roll with for right now.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to see more Jacobi Myers outside.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: And...
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: That shouldn't be a problem.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: He has no issue executing outside and you have Parker Washington who can man the slot.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: So that's two good spots.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think you can feel good about as long as Jakobi can get somewhat on board it over the next several days and get ready for a football game, which given his track record and given his history in the NFL, I think they'll be able to figure something out for him.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think you'll still see if Ryan Thomas Jr. is not available.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: If Diamie Brown is not available, I still think you're going to see a lot of Austrian
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: Tim Jones, that's just where they're at right now with the injury situation.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content here, please like and subscribe.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all have a good one.
