- 0:15Speaker 1: Hey, everybody, welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark. I'm Megan, I'm Wendy,
- 0:19Speaker 1: and today we are discussing Home Out the Holly from
- 0:22Speaker 1: Hallmarks Countdown to Christmas twenty twenty two series.
- 0:26Speaker 2: I have a question for you, Okay, I think when
- 0:30Speaker 2: we did our preview episode of all these movies, I
- 0:36Speaker 2: think you predicted that her character name was going to
- 0:40Speaker 2: be Holly.
- 0:40Speaker 1: So funny because as soon as you said that, I thought,
- 0:44Speaker 1: what is her characters It's Emily. I'm going to search
- 0:48Speaker 1: the transcript. No, I don't see anything in there.
- 0:52Speaker 2: All right, I'm wrong.
- 0:54Speaker 1: But what I did say, which is interesting, I said,
- 0:58Speaker 1: have you seen Christmas with the Thanks? I have that
- 1:01Speaker 1: this feels Christmas with the Cranks adjacent, and I had
- 1:04Speaker 1: that feeling as I was watching this as she comes
- 1:08Speaker 1: home and they're like peace.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Uh So let's rewind a little bit. Hi, we're reviewing
- 1:13Speaker 2: Haul Out the Holly. We're Megan A Wendy. You can
- 1:18Speaker 2: email us at Megan and Windy at gmail dot com.
- 1:20Speaker 1: You can find us on Instagram and on TikTok. We
- 1:22Speaker 1: are at Megan and Wendy and we would love you
- 1:26Speaker 1: to join our exclusive Girls Gone Hallmark Facebook group which
- 1:30Speaker 1: we link in our show notes, but you can always
- 1:32Speaker 1: sign by searching girls Gone Hallmark on Facebook.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Yeah, let's talk.
- 1:37Speaker 1: A little Hallmark news and notes. Okay, you dropped drop
- 1:41Speaker 1: big news in our Facebook group this week.
- 1:43Speaker 2: I did. I have this note here? While promoting this
- 1:46Speaker 2: movie on Jimmy Fallon last week, Lacey Schebeyer announce said
- 1:51Speaker 2: there will be three new The Wedding Veil movies in
- 1:55Speaker 2: twenty twenty three, also starring Autumn Research.
- 2:01Speaker 1: And Alie Sweeney.
- 2:01Speaker 2: They will return excellent. So in the Facebook group, someone
- 2:06Speaker 2: brought up a really good question and it was I
- 2:09Speaker 2: wonder how they're gonna do that?
- 2:11Speaker 1: Do you think? The question was like, what's the storyline
- 2:14Speaker 1: going to be? Now?
- 2:15Speaker 2: I think so? Okay, I hadn't given it much thought.
- 2:17Speaker 2: I was just like, WHOA excited for three? Yeah? Three movies?
- 2:21Speaker 1: They've all worn the veil.
- 2:22Speaker 2: They've all married, they're all have worn the veil. Now
- 2:26Speaker 2: what didn't they even give the veil back to? Like
- 2:28Speaker 2: the family? I don't recall. But what are they gonna do?
- 2:33Speaker 2: Are they going to fast forward? Is it going to
- 2:35Speaker 2: be their children? Well? I don't know.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I don't know either. We are gonna have to tune
- 2:40Speaker 1: in to find out.
- 2:40Speaker 2: We will tune in. And what's crazy is that during
- 2:45Speaker 2: this movie Haul Out the HOLLI, they had a commercial.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Oh I didn't see it. Oh I know why.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Because you watched it on Peacock, so they I watched
- 2:55Speaker 2: it on Friendly and I has commercials and it had
- 3:00Speaker 2: like clips of the other movie promoting, like the new
- 3:03Speaker 2: Trilogy and it is premiering on January seventh.
- 3:09Speaker 1: They've really kept that quiet because obviously they would have
- 3:11Speaker 1: had to start production on that. I'm assuming unless they're
- 3:15Speaker 1: just down to the wire and still in production on it.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Maybe I don't know. You know how these movies go.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Sometimes, Well you know that we Young Girls go in
- 3:23Speaker 1: Hallmark will be covering Wedding Veil Trilogy Part do.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm like, how the heck are we gonna like?
- 3:30Speaker 2: What are we gonna call this? I'm it's like Star
- 3:34Speaker 2: Wars Star Wars, you know how there's like so many
- 3:36Speaker 2: Star Wars movies now, but they'll have a name. But
- 3:40Speaker 2: it's like pre Star Wars and I can't even figure
- 3:43Speaker 2: it out, So we don't have a name. So the
- 3:47Speaker 2: Wedding Veil movies have a name, right, so we'll have
- 3:51Speaker 2: so the Wedding Veil, The Wedding Veil unveiled, the Wedding Veil.
- 3:55Speaker 2: I can't even remember what they are.
- 3:56Speaker 1: You that Eric maybe is, who's a surprise cameo in
- 3:59Speaker 1: this movie. He plays Allen in this movie. He was
- 4:02Speaker 1: in twelve sign fieled and delivered movies on the Hallmark
- 4:06Speaker 1: Movies and Mysteries channel. So I believe in Hallmark and
- 4:08Speaker 1: their ability to name a series. Remember Wedding March sixth, Yeah,
- 4:14Speaker 1: sealed with the kiss.
- 4:15Speaker 2: So it's like the Weddingville semi colon whatever, it's called.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Adventures and Babysitting. Yeah, got it.
- 4:22Speaker 1: The Wedding Veil goes to London. Oh my goodness, don't
- 4:28Speaker 1: ask me to name these movies. Well, among other things,
- 4:34Speaker 1: we will be reviewing those in January. And we had
- 4:37Speaker 1: recently been looking at our schedule through the holidays and
- 4:42Speaker 1: we had said, oh, the first week back, we'll review
- 4:44Speaker 1: the Hallmark movie. And Wendy was like, is there going
- 4:45Speaker 1: to be a Hallmark movie first week back?
- 4:47Speaker 2: There we go, here it is, And didn't they do
- 4:49Speaker 2: this last year? Like the first one came out in
- 4:51Speaker 2: January and then the next two came out in February.
- 4:54Speaker 1: That'll be interesting to see.
- 4:55Speaker 2: And I don't know why they did that. That was
- 4:57Speaker 2: a real dumb and I need to see it back
- 4:59Speaker 2: to back to back.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I agree, I agree. I hope that happens, but I
- 5:04Speaker 1: don't I couldn't begin to speculate. All Right, I have
- 5:07Speaker 1: a like a follow up on something we've been discussing,
- 5:11Speaker 1: and that is I just want to say, you just
- 5:13Speaker 1: mentioned I've been watching so many of these movies on Peacock.
- 5:17Speaker 1: It's such a great viewing experience because the commercials are frontloaded.
- 5:21Speaker 1: And twice I watched a Hallmark movie this weekend there
- 5:23Speaker 1: were no commercials.
- 5:24Speaker 2: First fast, but oh.
- 5:27Speaker 1: There has been not even my one hundred and fifty
- 5:29Speaker 1: three seconds of commercially not I don't know, and I
- 5:32Speaker 1: kept thinking, Oh, they're gonna get me, like it's gonna
- 5:33Speaker 1: pop up. No, it was completely commercial free.
- 5:37Speaker 2: I don't know why.
- 5:39Speaker 1: I'm not complaining, but we are the fact that every
- 5:42Speaker 1: time there's like a break where there's a commercial, I
- 5:44Speaker 1: go to like reach for the remote and then I
- 5:45Speaker 1: don't have to. Now we just had this discussion prior
- 5:49Speaker 1: to recording. I still think if I had to pick
- 5:51Speaker 1: one streaming service, I would pick Friendly simply because it is.
- 5:56Speaker 1: What's the word I'm looking for. There's more options, the
- 6:00Speaker 1: movies are there longer, it's got a DVR, all of
- 6:03Speaker 1: those reasons, but for quick turnaround next day viewing, Peacock's
- 6:07Speaker 1: got it on lock.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I gotta tell you, like you know, these movies
- 6:10Speaker 2: are only like an hour and twenty four minutes right
- 6:12Speaker 2: from start to finish.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Low right through them when you're not going through eight
- 6:15Speaker 1: commercial breaks.
- 6:16Speaker 2: I've watched fourteen movies this week or something, I don't know.
- 6:19Speaker 1: I also wanted to say that I noticed that all
- 6:21Speaker 1: six seasons of Chesapeake Shores are on Peacock. Yeah, they are.
- 6:24Speaker 1: So when our new Chesapeake Shores review podcast drops in
- 6:30Speaker 1: the in the new year, we'd like you to weigh
- 6:33Speaker 1: in either in Girls con Hallmark or if you have
- 6:35Speaker 1: Megan and Wendy at gmail dot com. Should our chess
- 6:38Speaker 1: Peak Shores reviews live in Girls Gone Homemark or on
- 6:41Speaker 1: their own podcast? Can I give you my opinion in
- 6:44Speaker 1: Girls Gone Homework?
- 6:45Speaker 2: Yeah? I think so. I think that's the umbrella, Okay,
- 6:47Speaker 2: because people are because it come on, guys, I know
- 6:51Speaker 2: I vote with me.
- 6:52Speaker 1: I don't disagree. All right, let's talk about Haul out
- 6:56Speaker 1: the holly.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Mm hmmm, do you use I will? When Emily unexpectedly
- 7:02Speaker 2: spends the holidays alone at her parents' house, their HOA
- 7:07Speaker 2: insists that she participate in its many Christmas festivities, starring
- 7:14Speaker 2: Lacey Shavert, Wes Brown, Melissa Peterman, Ellen Travolta, and Steven Tobolowski.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Question of Mark, Did I say it correctly?
- 7:24Speaker 1: I think so? Okay, let's talk about news and notes
- 7:28Speaker 1: for haul at.
- 7:28Speaker 2: The holly Hmm.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I don't have many, but go ahead. Well, this is
- 7:31Speaker 1: Lacey's twelfth Christmas movie with the Hallmark channel of the
- 7:35Speaker 1: Hallmark Umbrella, I should say, and her thirty third Hallmark movie. Wow,
- 7:41Speaker 1: Go Lacey. This was filmed on location in Utah, and
- 7:45Speaker 1: it is also set in Utah, which is kind of unusual.
- 7:48Speaker 1: And Lazy mentioned that they were in the middle of
- 7:50Speaker 1: a heat wave, which I think is kind of undant.
- 7:52Speaker 1: When you say August in Utah, it was one hundred
- 7:54Speaker 1: and seven degrees Whenty and I went to Utah last summer.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Yes, I have a question. Okay, so this the filming
- 7:59Speaker 2: production took place. Production of this movie took place July
- 8:03Speaker 2: twenty fourth through September eleventh. I don't know when they
- 8:05Speaker 2: filmed it. She yeah, she said August, August. When did
- 8:11Speaker 2: we go? Because it was oh, it was June. It
- 8:14Speaker 2: was so hot when we were miserably so if I
- 8:18Speaker 2: had to wear a coat and a beanie during that time,
- 8:21Speaker 2: I would have died. Yeah, I have a bone to pick. Okay,
- 8:26Speaker 2: it's some IMDb news. First of all, I do think
- 8:31Speaker 2: IMDb is withholding reviews, posting reviews like user reviews of
- 8:38Speaker 2: a lot of movies like twenty four forty Hours After.
- 8:43Speaker 2: You know, that's not my biggest beef. Here here's the beef.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Here's the beef. Some of the reviews of this movie
- 8:49Speaker 2: were trible, shocks tarrible. And I have a theory. Okay,
- 8:57Speaker 2: I have a theory. Okay, loyal Hallmark fan is.
- 9:03Speaker 1: So oh no, sorry, go ahead.
- 9:10Speaker 2: They're so used to like a romantic love story, right,
- 9:14Speaker 2: you know, like the usual trope. They're all like that,
- 9:17Speaker 2: all the sure of Yester Year. Right, this was definitely
- 9:24Speaker 2: a rom calm? Is it too much calm for people?
- 9:30Speaker 1: Well? Maybe? Spoiler alert. I freaking loved this movie, and
- 9:37Speaker 1: I will think now is the time to tell you
- 9:40Speaker 1: that I watched it with my husband, who's not a
- 9:42Speaker 1: big Lacey should bear fan. But he watched it because
- 9:43Speaker 1: I was watching it, and at the end I turned
- 9:46Speaker 1: to him, expecting him to be like, I'm a changed man.
- 9:49Speaker 2: He wanted him to jump on the couch Tom Cruise
- 9:51Speaker 2: style and be like that was great.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Yeah, And I said, what'd you think? He goes that
- 9:57Speaker 1: was real bad.
- 9:58Speaker 2: I can't believe that.
- 10:00Speaker 1: What.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Oh my god, that's so funny.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Truly shocked, truly truly shocked.
- 10:07Speaker 2: What did he not like about it?
- 10:08Speaker 1: I don't know. He didn't elaborate. I just was so
- 10:12Speaker 1: shook by his reaction. I wonder if you know you
- 10:16Speaker 1: and I are not really fans of the silly. I
- 10:18Speaker 1: didn't think this was silly.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I didn't think so either, dude. Loyal Hallmark fans want
- 10:24Speaker 2: the silly, the hijinx. I hate it. I hate all
- 10:27Speaker 2: that stuffs.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I think I think, Oh no, I think we should
- 10:31Speaker 1: give Hallmark fans more credit, okay, because I think we're
- 10:35Speaker 1: here for bigger and better and more. I'm disappointed in
- 10:39Speaker 1: the IMDb.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Reviewer six point six out of ten.
- 10:41Speaker 1: No, boo, that's a D.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Yeah, this is not a D movie too.
- 10:46Speaker 1: No, No, I'm a little bit more about this movie
- 10:49Speaker 1: was written by Andy Sandberg, which is very close to
- 10:52Speaker 1: Andy Samberg.
- 10:53Speaker 2: I had to look that up. Actually, when I saw
- 10:55Speaker 2: Andy Sandberg, I was like, wait, the guy from SNL
- 10:59Speaker 2: wrote this movie. And then I looked it up. I
- 11:01Speaker 2: was like, Nope, that's sam Berg.
- 11:04Speaker 1: He has not done a lot of writing. He wrote
- 11:06Speaker 1: five More Minutes and five More minutes moments like these,
- 11:09Speaker 1: and I was expecting him to be this prolific writer
- 11:14Speaker 1: because the writing in this is so snappy. It's like,
- 11:17Speaker 1: did you ever hear the anecdote about Gilmore Girls that
- 11:20Speaker 1: a standard script is of an hour show is say
- 11:22Speaker 1: eighty pages. I've made that up and there would be
- 11:24Speaker 1: like one hundred and twenty because a dialogue was snappy. Yes,
- 11:27Speaker 1: I felt like that watching this, This must have been
- 11:30Speaker 1: a longer script than normal because the dialogue was like
- 11:32Speaker 1: coke choke, you know what.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Is so crazy? And I just remember now that you
- 11:37Speaker 2: mentioned Gilmore Girls. Now I remember watching this movie and saying,
- 11:41Speaker 2: this reminds me of an episode of Gilmore Girls. At
- 11:43Speaker 2: the pace that it was asked.
- 11:45Speaker 1: The pacing was incredible. Please write more movies, Andy Sandberg.
- 11:49Speaker 1: This was also directed by McLean Nelson, who has directed
- 11:53Speaker 1: nine previous Hallmark movies, including Christmas.
- 11:56Speaker 2: In Did I watch that one?
- 11:58Speaker 1: No?
- 11:58Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 11:59Speaker 1: There's a Christmas in Vana moment later in this episode.
- 12:03Speaker 2: I know what you're talking about.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Now. Melissa Peterman is an absolute star in this movie.
- 12:11Speaker 1: She plays Pamela, and I did at one point write
- 12:16Speaker 1: my notes, what is up Pamela's ass? But she was
- 12:20Speaker 1: in Baby Daddy, she was in Young Sheldon, she was
- 12:22Speaker 1: Barberagane on Riba, and she and Reba will start in
- 12:25Speaker 1: a Lifetime movie together called The Hammer. They've apparently been
- 12:29Speaker 1: trying to get Riba rebooted, but it is not happening.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Wait a minute, The Hammer. Is this a Christmas movie?
- 12:35Speaker 1: No? No, it's I think like Murdery.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna do it The Hammer.
- 12:41Speaker 1: And then Stephen Tobolowski. If you watch this and thought
- 12:46Speaker 1: where do I know Ned from, the answer is everywhere.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Man has two hundred and eighty acting credits, Wow, including
- 12:53Speaker 1: series like One Day at a Time, which you know,
- 12:55Speaker 1: I love, Silicon Valley. He was ned in Groundhog Day.
- 13:00Speaker 1: He's a character actor. You've seen him in just about everything.
- 13:04Speaker 1: I am thrilled that we got him in this movie.
- 13:07Speaker 2: He is one of my favorites in this movie. Funny
- 13:10Speaker 2: funny stuff from that guy.
- 13:12Speaker 1: What was your first impression of Hall out the Holly?
- 13:14Speaker 2: Okay, I will spoiler alert. I like this maybe a
- 13:17Speaker 2: lot too. Here's my first impression. I've never heard the
- 13:20Speaker 2: word tableau before, and I have no idea what it
- 13:24Speaker 2: means in regard to decorating a snowman.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Please explain, Well, I think tableau is like a scene,
- 13:30Speaker 1: like an overall.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Like, is that what that means?
- 13:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I think it needs in my mind. Now,
- 13:35Speaker 1: let me google before I make an idiot at myself.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Well, I've already made an idiot of myself.
- 13:41Speaker 1: A group of models or motionless figures representing a scene, okay,
- 13:46Speaker 1: from a story or from history.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Okay, So the snowmen were supposed to be like a scene. Yes, okay,
- 13:54Speaker 2: they're supposed to tell us but they but they didn't
- 13:56Speaker 2: really stick correct?
- 13:57Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 13:58Speaker 2: I never like it, played it and play out like that? Right?
- 14:01Speaker 1: No? Okay, speaking of snowmen, some of them were very
- 14:04Speaker 1: clearly large Shire from balls.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Please that is in my did you see that? We
- 14:07Speaker 2: will talk about it.
- 14:09Speaker 1: My first impression is homemark home run.
- 14:13Speaker 2: I agree, I agree.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I carry that baseball metaphor through to another review that
- 14:20Speaker 1: We're gonna do tomorrow. Okay, a little bit of a
- 14:24Speaker 1: different feeling there. What did you like about this movie?
- 14:27Speaker 2: I liked the whole movie. I thought it was funny.
- 14:30Speaker 2: I love the chemistry between Lacey and West Brown. I
- 14:33Speaker 2: found Wes Brown to be hilarious. Hilarious. And I would
- 14:39Speaker 2: like to also note that one of our Facebook members, Michelle,
- 14:44Speaker 2: she has a real thing for like guys and glasses.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Oh uh huh. And so Wes Brown and his glasses
- 14:49Speaker 2: in this movie. Brendan Penny wore them and his movie
- 14:52Speaker 2: he was in this year. So Hallmark's bringing the sexy
- 14:56Speaker 2: like sexy dad. Look.
- 14:58Speaker 1: I was having thisscussion with another Hallmark reviewer on Instagram
- 15:02Speaker 1: and I I.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Said, I'm really enjoying Hallmark's Clark kent Era. Oh, totally
- 15:07Speaker 2: good call. What did you like?
- 15:09Speaker 1: Well, like you, I loved this movie overall, was a
- 15:12Speaker 1: joy to watch. I liked a lot of things about it.
- 15:15Speaker 1: I loved the breakup scene in the beginning. I thought
- 15:17Speaker 1: it was so well done. First of all, they get
- 15:19Speaker 1: right to the drama. She doesn't sit around dealing with
- 15:21Speaker 1: his bullshit. She's like, I am tired of you, and
- 15:24Speaker 1: here is why, and that scene is amazing and he's hilarious.
- 15:27Speaker 1: My husband did laugh out loud at his ridiculousness. So
- 15:31Speaker 1: I don't know what he's talking about hating this movie,
- 15:33Speaker 1: but great scene. And then in the follow up where
- 15:36Speaker 1: she's talking to her parents and the dad is silently
- 15:38Speaker 1: cheering behind the mom off camera. Loved that.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Uh huh. The mom kind show with me crazy a
- 15:45Speaker 2: little bit though, I don't know why.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Yeah, they were chilly.
- 15:48Speaker 2: I liked the dad. The mom was a little bit
- 15:50Speaker 2: of a character, you know what I mean. Care caicture. Yeah,
- 15:56Speaker 2: I agree, But I did like the dad, especially when
- 15:59Speaker 2: he had like the secret orgy in it.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Oh, I loved it. And then the follow up too,
- 16:03Speaker 1: is the key back in the table?
- 16:05Speaker 2: Yeah that's good.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Did you like the line? Is Christmas merely the longest
- 16:09Speaker 1: to do list? Ever? I don't remember that line said
- 16:12Speaker 1: during a voiceover in the very beginning, when Lacey is
- 16:14Speaker 1: uh carrying a bunch of packages?
- 16:17Speaker 2: Uh huh, Oh yeah, I can really you, guys, I'm
- 16:23Speaker 2: not really a big huge fan of Christmas. If you're
- 16:25Speaker 2: new to the Megan and Windy brand, this is Meghan's
- 16:29Speaker 2: favorite time of year.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Cue my rocky music.
- 16:34Speaker 2: I really loved the setting. I loved the house, like
- 16:39Speaker 2: I love the house so much. And hell, yes, she's
- 16:41Speaker 2: gonna say yes to the gift of the house that
- 16:45Speaker 2: her parents are going to give her, Like why would
- 16:47Speaker 2: you not.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Yeah, that's clearly new construction in Utah.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Yeah, like we're supposed to believe that she grew up there.
- 16:54Speaker 1: They did comment that her parents had renovated and that wow,
- 16:58Speaker 1: you water Own's character had renovated his home, Like, yeah.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Obviously he watched closely. I did not catch that.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Wat Okay. I gasped and cheered for the crisp plahaw
- 17:11Speaker 1: cameo when he sounds screen. And I love that he's
- 17:13Speaker 1: in more than one scene. It's not like he was
- 17:15Speaker 1: just in the neighborhood and popped by. I loved it. Yep,
- 17:18Speaker 1: more of that.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Oh, I love a cameo. I love when there's crossed over.
- 17:24Speaker 2: It makes me I loved it last year when Andrew
- 17:27Speaker 2: Walker and Tyler Hines did it in their movies. I
- 17:29Speaker 2: it's just it makes me laugh. We had Kimberly says
- 17:32Speaker 2: dad last week in the movie that she co wrote,
- 17:35Speaker 2: Like I feel like they're all well, they're not in
- 17:38Speaker 2: Vancouver in this movie, but typically they're all in Vancouver somewhere,
- 17:42Speaker 2: so it's like, hey, yeah, pop in.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Well, And I think what's really nice is it's a
- 17:47Speaker 1: real nice nod to the dedicated Hallmark viewer because most
- 17:52Speaker 1: people are going to miss that moment. The casual viewer
- 17:54Speaker 1: is not gonna have any idea it is right, and
- 17:56Speaker 1: so it just it's just an added little wink to
- 18:00Speaker 1: the real fan exactly. I really loved the scene where
- 18:03Speaker 1: the new neighborhood comes together and helps her decorate, because
- 18:05Speaker 1: I knew that was coming because first of all, her
- 18:08Speaker 1: house had been decorated. Her parents put everything away because
- 18:12Speaker 1: there was a Christmas tree behind them in the phone call,
- 18:14Speaker 1: and they start sliding it out of frame once she
- 18:17Speaker 1: they get off the phone, so I said, where'd the
- 18:19Speaker 1: Christmas tree go? And then I realized they took it
- 18:22Speaker 1: away so that she would have to do it.
- 18:24Speaker 2: See now, if I was her, I'd be like, yeah,
- 18:26Speaker 2: I'm not doing that. I'm not kidding on the ladder
- 18:30Speaker 2: and putting lights on this house.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Right. But then the whole neighborhood comes down. I know.
- 18:35Speaker 2: I love that. I love when there's like a group
- 18:38Speaker 2: thing that happens like that.
- 18:40Speaker 1: What I loved about that scene is at the very end,
- 18:42Speaker 1: when she's about to plug in the lights. Was that
- 18:45Speaker 1: scene reminiscent for Anything of You?
- 18:46Speaker 2: For You Christmas vacation?
- 18:51Speaker 1: She plugging in the lights, everyone's standing around. If that
- 18:55Speaker 1: wasn't intentional, I will eat my hat because that absolutely
- 19:00Speaker 1: looks like that scene.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Can I pause here for a second with a full
- 19:04Speaker 2: side note? Have you watched Spirited yet?
- 19:07Speaker 1: Yes?
- 19:08Speaker 2: Okay. The greatest thing is having a in this movie.
- 19:12Speaker 2: This is not a spoiler. They have a costume Christmas party, yes,
- 19:19Speaker 2: And I'm watching it and my husband and my husband goes,
- 19:22Speaker 2: do you know who that guy's dressed up as? And
- 19:24Speaker 2: I'm like no, and he goes the shitter's full and
- 19:27Speaker 2: I was like, oh my god, that's hilarious.
- 19:30Speaker 1: That was a great scene. All those costumes.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Yeah, it was not fun Yeah, that was so funny.
- 19:35Speaker 2: And when Will Ferrel was like looking at the guy
- 19:37Speaker 2: in the elf costume, was like, you look stupid. I
- 19:40Speaker 2: loved how loud. I enjoyed that movie very much. If
- 19:44Speaker 2: you guys have Apple TV, watch it.
- 19:47Speaker 1: I liked it ten second. It's another one from the
- 19:49Speaker 1: perspective of the spirits much like ghosts of Christmas.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Yeah, you know me, I love a Scrooge.
- 19:56Speaker 1: What is that a Christmas carold? Yeah? I was dickings
- 19:59Speaker 1: me too.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Me.
- 20:03Speaker 1: They're lighting in the Christmas tree. It's like a week
- 20:05Speaker 1: before Christmas, and Lazy goes it's a week before Christmas,
- 20:07Speaker 1: a little late in the season to light the tree,
- 20:08Speaker 1: and I thought, yeah, yeah, yeah, Albark has heard our cry.
- 20:13Speaker 2: They never really addressed that though. He was just like, yeah,
- 20:17Speaker 2: I know I've been busy or I've been like dealing
- 20:19Speaker 2: with stuff.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Or yeah, I almost wonder is that true?
- 20:23Speaker 2: Is another moment to get her in on it? Oh yeah,
- 20:26Speaker 2: maybe maybe hmm okay, okay, like anything else, No, I
- 20:33Speaker 2: just liked it.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Yeah too, what did you wish for? So?
- 20:37Speaker 2: Lacey can be kind of buttoned up, right, She's like
- 20:40Speaker 2: maybe the female to Ryan Pavey in terms of hear
- 20:43Speaker 2: me out, hear me out. And I like Ryan Pavey,
- 20:47Speaker 2: by the way, but he can be a little reserved,
- 20:49Speaker 2: and I feel like Lacey can be a little like, okay,
- 20:52Speaker 2: a reserved, a prim and proper kind of like the
- 20:55Speaker 2: way she talks is very you know, I there's part
- 20:59Speaker 2: of me sometimes I want to see the character she
- 21:02Speaker 2: plays in Mean Girls, when she flips the f out
- 21:06Speaker 2: about wearing pants three days in a row or you
- 21:09Speaker 2: can't sit with us or whatever. She's always just even keeled.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:15Speaker 2: I wish for maybe a little bit more emotion from her. Okay,
- 21:19Speaker 2: I still love her. I still think she's the Queen
- 21:22Speaker 2: of Christmas. I will watch every one of her movies,
- 21:25Speaker 2: even though last year's was a big stinker. I will
- 21:27Speaker 2: say though, there were some very organic moments that I
- 21:31Speaker 2: think they caught on film. And there was one scene
- 21:34Speaker 2: when her and Wes Brown were holding up coal to
- 21:37Speaker 2: their eyes and they were making fun of Pamela, and
- 21:41Speaker 2: he says something and you can just see on her
- 21:43Speaker 2: she drops the coal and just starts like cracking up.
- 21:45Speaker 2: And I was like, oh, I wonder, like, give us
- 21:48Speaker 2: more of that. That's all I wished for, You know,
- 21:50Speaker 2: I didn't.
- 21:50Speaker 1: I didn't really have anything except I don't love a
- 21:55Speaker 1: Christmas Day.
- 21:56Speaker 2: CARNIVALA Oh my god, that's in my Did you see that?
- 22:00Speaker 2: It's a question. It's a question.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Okay, hold on, I'll wait. I just I just don't.
- 22:04Speaker 1: I don't love that. It feels it feels disingenuous for
- 22:07Speaker 1: this town that loves Christmas. You love your neighbors so
- 22:11Speaker 1: much that you want to.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Hang out with them on Christmas Day.
- 22:13Speaker 1: The parents rushing out of the house on Christmas morning
- 22:17Speaker 1: is my literal nightmare. Yeah, give me my coffee and
- 22:21Speaker 1: my Jammy's and a pile of wrapping paper and let's
- 22:24Speaker 1: just get into it fireplace on. I don't want to move. Yeah,
- 22:29Speaker 1: get bundled up and get outside. We got work to do.
- 22:32Speaker 1: I don't want to do that, veto Okay.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I would like to point out that Megan very much
- 22:37Speaker 2: lives in a neighborhood that is I'll haul out the
- 22:39Speaker 2: Holly neighborhood totally so. But you guys don't gather in
- 22:42Speaker 2: the street in the morning, and like.
- 22:44Speaker 1: In the morning. Note now, when our kids were younger,
- 22:47Speaker 1: late in the morning, everyone would kind of end up
- 22:49Speaker 1: playing out front. Yeah, and that'll still happen a little bit,
- 22:53Speaker 1: but like my kids don't really play out front age.
- 22:55Speaker 1: But yeah, there was definitely a phase where we'd all
- 22:57Speaker 1: kind of be out there in our pajamas, like you know,
- 23:00Speaker 1: eleven twelve o'clock. But there was no setup, there was
- 23:03Speaker 1: no getting dressed, there was you know, it was come
- 23:06Speaker 1: as you are yes. Yeah, everyone's in Jammy's and slippers.
- 23:11Speaker 2: It's cute. It's nice to be a part of a neighborhood.
- 23:13Speaker 2: I think that's like that.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know if you notice as you drove
- 23:17Speaker 1: down the street, but all the lights are up, like
- 23:20Speaker 1: draping across the street, not just the houses. But yeah
- 23:23Speaker 1: you missed the who had the cherry picker here.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Putting the lights at Oh yeah, oh my goodness.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Our kids helped this weekend. Everyone got in on it.
- 23:32Speaker 1: We do live in that sort of street.
- 23:34Speaker 2: There was that That was a big conversation at our
- 23:36Speaker 2: Thanksgiving dinner actually about like lights that are draped from
- 23:40Speaker 2: house to house across the street. And one of the
- 23:45Speaker 2: guests at our Thanksgiving dinner said that that's completely illegal
- 23:49Speaker 2: because a fire truck can't go down the street because
- 23:52Speaker 2: it's too tall.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Well, a motor home drove under ours and all of
- 23:59Speaker 1: the ups and FedEx trucks can get under them.
- 24:02Speaker 2: I don't think a fire truck is taller than that.
- 24:04Speaker 2: I mean, I think if there was an actual emergency through,
- 24:08Speaker 2: do you think the fire trucks are like, there's lights,
- 24:13Speaker 2: we can't get in there to save that barrel through?
- 24:17Speaker 1: Yeah, right. Our hy is notoriously rule oriented. They would
- 24:22Speaker 1: come for us, I think if we were breaking the law.
- 24:23Speaker 1: But we win most spirited street. Oh god, guys every
- 24:27Speaker 1: year twenty years running. And the neighbor yesterday was like, hey,
- 24:31Speaker 1: what day is that? There's like a judging weekend. He's like,
- 24:33Speaker 1: we need to be out here with hot chocolate and
- 24:35Speaker 1: candy canes.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Oh a little waola to the people. Huh, just a
- 24:40Speaker 2: little boost of holiday spirit. Oh my goodness.
- 24:43Speaker 1: We don't need it to win. There's no street in
- 24:45Speaker 1: this neighborhood that comes close, not one houses that are better,
- 24:49Speaker 1: not one better street.
- 24:50Speaker 2: I need your husband to dress up as shit is elfhole.
- 24:54Speaker 1: He has a buddy, the elf Kazoo.
- 24:55Speaker 2: He needs to wear it and get out there on
- 24:57Speaker 2: the street. Yeah, that's great idea, and you should just
- 25:01Speaker 2: suppose missus clause. How about that? Have you? Have you
- 25:05Speaker 2: watched a new The Clauses series, The Santa Clauses. I
- 25:09Speaker 2: am not, however my husband is because I saw it
- 25:13Speaker 2: come up on the TV and I said episode two
- 25:15Speaker 2: and I was like, oh, you're watching this without.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Me, and he's like, yeah, it's not that great, It's
- 25:21Speaker 1: oh it's it's I mean like we're watching because I'm
- 25:23Speaker 1: a big fan of the Santa Claus franchise except.
- 25:26Speaker 2: For Tim Allan.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Well, yes, but except for Movies three, which is terrible.
- 25:31Speaker 2: But you don't like Tim Allan. No, he's like a
- 25:34Speaker 2: hardcore Republican.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Yeah. Someone said on Twitter that feel like it was
- 25:39Speaker 1: part of his contract that he got to like let
- 25:41Speaker 1: at least one conservative joke fly. He's like, we can't
- 25:44Speaker 1: say Merry Christmas every year.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Listen. So he was in that show I can't remember
- 25:49Speaker 2: what it was called now where he owned the sporting store,
- 25:52Speaker 2: sporting goods store.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Man of the something.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Every week there was a conservative joke every single week,
- 26:02Speaker 2: so I it would not man stand Last Man Standing. Yes,
- 26:06Speaker 2: so it would, which I enjoyed, but it got old
- 26:09Speaker 2: real quick, so it would not surprise me. If he
- 26:11Speaker 2: had some sort of something.
- 26:13Speaker 1: And they like go over like a lead balloon, I'm like,
- 26:15Speaker 1: this isn't even funny, Like, you know, don't write your
- 26:20Speaker 1: own jokes. If you need to have that in there,
- 26:22Speaker 1: surely there's a better joke you can make. It's fine.
- 26:26Speaker 1: The reason I ask is missus Clause in that movie.
- 26:29Speaker 1: She's like they're both kind of like feeling you know
- 26:33Speaker 1: a little at odds with being the Clauses, And oh,
- 26:36Speaker 1: missus Claus doesn't even have a name. Look at my hair,
- 26:40Speaker 1: look at how I dressed. I need an identity. He goes,
- 26:42Speaker 1: your name's Carol. She goes, who knows that? Only you?
- 26:45Speaker 1: My name's missus Claus.
- 26:47Speaker 2: Anyway, So you don't want to dress up as Missus
- 26:49Speaker 2: Clause because you want to have your own holiday. I
- 26:51Speaker 2: didn't be a powerful female.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Okay, are you ready for did to see that?
- 26:58Speaker 2: I am? Can I go first?
- 27:01Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 27:02Speaker 2: They have the big Christmas tree lighting. The tree is
- 27:06Speaker 2: in the middle of the cul de sac. Yeah, come
- 27:09Speaker 2: on now, all around it?
- 27:11Speaker 1: Yeah, and stuff, Yeah, all those presents for I don't know,
- 27:15Speaker 1: like bags with tissue paper.
- 27:16Speaker 2: They had to like build a like a what is
- 27:19Speaker 2: that thing that you stand at, like the.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Riser?
- 27:23Speaker 2: Yeah, he was on a riser with like a podium
- 27:26Speaker 2: in front of him, like we're in the neighborhood. Dude, Like,
- 27:30Speaker 2: I just I didn't get it. I don't know, maybe
- 27:32Speaker 2: like I wasn't supposed to see that it was actually
- 27:35Speaker 2: in the cul de sac.
- 27:36Speaker 1: No, but you can see it when she's standing on
- 27:38Speaker 1: her front porch. It's behind them. Yeah, she's talking what
- 27:42Speaker 1: is his name? She's talking with Brown.
- 27:45Speaker 2: And name is not Max.
- 27:47Speaker 1: His name is Jared. Okay, it's right behind them. It's
- 27:49Speaker 1: it's odd. It's an odd thing.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Thank you my opinion, Thank you for you're welcome.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Thank you. Just a little one. Lacey turns on a
- 27:57Speaker 1: Christmas movie. And she turns on Christmas and Vienna, which
- 28:00Speaker 1: is a Hallmark movie, and uh, it stars Brendon Elliott.
- 28:04Speaker 1: And she goes, oh, I love this guy. She's been
- 28:06Speaker 1: in nine movies with Brendan Elliott.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Oh funny.
- 28:08Speaker 1: So she said, you know, I knew when I was
- 28:10Speaker 1: watching a movie it had but she's.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Not in that movie, right, But the director of this
- 28:15Speaker 2: movie directed that movie. So he's like, heck, yeah, I'm
- 28:17Speaker 2: putting my movie in there. All right, we need to
- 28:19Speaker 2: talk about the snowman building contest. I was not looking
- 28:23Speaker 2: at snow I think I was looking at styrofoam or there.
- 28:28Speaker 2: I mean the guy what's his name, ned, I don't
- 28:32Speaker 2: know what his was even made out of? Right, it
- 28:35Speaker 2: looked bizarre to me.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it was like.
- 28:39Speaker 2: A stick with three balls.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Yeah, he's just weird.
- 28:44Speaker 2: It was so weird.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Well lazy and Wes is like, there was something weird
- 28:52Speaker 1: happening with like the lighting, because when they like reached around,
- 28:55Speaker 1: I'm like, is that like a green screened snowman in there?
- 28:59Speaker 1: Their hands will it's funny, But yes, theirs did look
- 29:02Speaker 1: like at least had a rougher texture, like they had
- 29:05Speaker 1: put in the extra production value on their snowman snowperson
- 29:10Speaker 1: because but the rest of them they panned back and
- 29:13Speaker 1: they're like smooth balls.
- 29:15Speaker 2: Uh huh. And I was twelve. I'm sorry, I'm.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Just gonna move on past it and say that I
- 29:25Speaker 1: think they could have like sprayed some of that wall
- 29:29Speaker 1: texture stuff on them it.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Oh god, idea they could have done.
- 29:35Speaker 1: But there were a lot of them. It was bad.
- 29:39Speaker 1: And you know what's funny is when West gets hit
- 29:42Speaker 1: in the face with a snowball.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Yes, I was like, whoa.
- 29:45Speaker 1: That looks like actual melty ice.
- 29:47Speaker 2: I thought so too.
- 29:48Speaker 1: I impressed that wasn't fake snow.
- 29:50Speaker 2: They couldn't get they were probably had like a shave
- 29:52Speaker 2: ice machine on the side, and they're like, here, throw
- 29:55Speaker 2: this at it. And I was watching that scene with
- 29:57Speaker 2: my husband and I looked at him, I go, God,
- 30:00Speaker 2: that would hurt right here in the square of your forehead.
- 30:04Speaker 2: With a snowball, no thank.
- 30:07Speaker 1: You, like in the face twice. I think I think
- 30:09Speaker 1: it happens.
- 30:10Speaker 2: He's so pretty. Stop trying to hurt him.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Please, he was pretty in this movie.
- 30:15Speaker 2: We did talk about this for a second, but I
- 30:17Speaker 2: was like, did all the neighbors get together on Christmas date?
- 30:20Speaker 2: Where are all the other families coming? Like you have
- 30:22Speaker 2: people over on Christmas dairway.
- 30:24Speaker 1: And they're like, I gotta go to a carnival. Yeah,
- 30:27Speaker 1: I gotta. I gotta go do my hot chocolate shift
- 30:29Speaker 1: right now.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Yeah. It was just weird to me, like stop it.
- 30:34Speaker 2: You gotta have these things before the actual day. End
- 30:37Speaker 2: of story anything?
- 30:38Speaker 1: Ready to read it?
- 30:39Speaker 2: All right?
- 30:41Speaker 1: Five stars?
- 30:41Speaker 2: I gave it five stars to guess what what?
- 30:44Speaker 1: I think it's better than three?
- 30:45Speaker 2: Wise man, Nope, I don't think so. Nope, Nope, I
- 30:48Speaker 2: don't think so.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Said it meant I liked that movie.
- 30:53Speaker 2: I really had to give this thought because I went
- 30:55Speaker 2: and looked back at Lights Camera Christmas, which I really loved,
- 30:59Speaker 2: and I gave it four more seven five stars, and
- 31:00Speaker 2: I was like, this was this better? And what I
- 31:05Speaker 2: could do is I could remember exactly why I gave
- 31:08Speaker 2: that movie four point seven five stars. Stars stools, so
- 31:13Speaker 2: and I couldn't like define anything that made this lesson five.
- 31:17Speaker 2: So yeah, it's by stars. Not better than the boys though,
- 31:23Speaker 2: wow equally is good.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Okay. I do think Comark is bringing it this year.
- 31:27Speaker 1: Me too, I mean stepped it. I came up.
- 31:31Speaker 2: I remember two movies that I liked from last year,
- 31:33Speaker 2: like liked and would watch again. At this point, I
- 31:35Speaker 2: feel like I have five. Yeah, so I'm excited. Yeah,
- 31:40Speaker 2: tomorrow we'll talk about it.
- 31:42Speaker 1: We'll talk about it. This is a marathon week on
