- Ben: Good morning and welcome to your talk to mental bulletin on the 24th of September. So Poland charges a touristic fee in 234 of its municipalities. The law on the lower house passed on Friday opens up to about 1500. So what's going on here? The test is that a town must have favorable climatic properties as well as a landscape merit. That first limb has kept most Polish tourist towns out. The new text drops it. Landscape merit is all that's left. Then it changes who collects. So if you run Polish stock, you were probably collecting already because most municipalities appoint accommodation providers as collectors. And the government's own impact assessment lists private lodgings among them. What changes is not the job, it is the liability. An appointed collector answers for money it took and did not hand over. So from January, you are statutory remitter, and a statutory remitter answers for money it should have taken and did not with everything it owns. The one defense is that where the failure to connect was the guest's fault. You keep a register for every property holding each guest's name, home address, the nights, and the amount you file and pay by the 15th of the following month. The 10% commission is. Is being written up as a sweetener. it is a flaw. The government surveyed what municipalities pay and found out on average about 12% topping out at 25%. The act cancels the resolutions and sets those rates. So if you're above 10% today, you take a cut unless your council votes to keep it there. The cap of five Zoldi a night is a rise of about 40%. Not forty-five because the cap already published for 2027 is 3.56. The spa levy cap does not move at all. And the word Airbnb does not appear in this act, neither does booking.com nor platform or intermediary. Not once. So Poland is putting personal reliability and named guest register on every host, and nothing whatsoever on the platforms is hiding the bookings. It's cleared the lower house on Friday and it currently sits with the Senate now, so it isn't law yet, but do watch this space if you operate stock in Poland. So back to your briefing and I'll see you tomorrow. Thank you for watching.
