- 1:12Speaker 1: the popcorn moment. Let's go, let's start show. It's a
- 1:16Speaker 1: story you need to hear to believe. Then grab your
- 1:18Speaker 1: popcorn because there is more. And of course redistricting has
- 1:22Speaker 1: been the front and center subject, and there was Governor
- 1:25Speaker 1: Brawn on Newsmax with Rob Schmidt just the other days.
- 1:30Speaker 1: What's your response to that and what are you guys
- 1:32Speaker 1: doing to try and make this happen.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I talked to him for over ten minutes here earlier today,
- 1:38Speaker 2: and I think calling the state out. He knows where
- 1:41Speaker 2: I'm at in this whole navigation. I can call them
- 1:45Speaker 2: into session. And I did that with plenty of time.
- 1:49Speaker 2: This has been several months Rob, where they've been dragging
- 1:51Speaker 2: their feed and as more Senators started coming forward, they
- 1:56Speaker 2: actually put the wet blanket on it because they knew
- 1:59Speaker 2: it was going to get there. And that's where the
- 2:01Speaker 2: Senate program said they're not even going to gabble into session.
- 2:05Speaker 1: That's the governor going directly at Rod Bray and discussing
- 2:09Speaker 1: his conversation with President Trump. The question is and all
- 2:13Speaker 1: the conversation about rift, has it led people to wanting
- 2:17Speaker 1: to engage these primary challenges President Trump has said, there's
- 2:21Speaker 1: going to be a primary challenge and all these people,
- 2:23Speaker 1: and he's going to support the primary challenge, and he's
- 2:26Speaker 1: going to go after Bray and this one and that one. Well,
- 2:30Speaker 1: some people are answering the call. Paula Copenhaveer joins us now.
- 2:35Speaker 1: She has served there in Fountain County. She was the
- 2:41Speaker 1: GOP chairman over there. She has also been a county clerk,
- 2:45Speaker 1: and she has made her announcement to run for State
- 2:49Speaker 1: Senate in District twenty three. So I appreciate you taking
- 2:52Speaker 1: the time to be with us. Paul. I want to
- 2:54Speaker 1: be clear, this is not an endorsement in any way,
- 2:55Speaker 1: shape or form. This is about understanding. You've run for
- 2:59Speaker 1: office before, So is this just your tem to run
- 3:04Speaker 1: again or is this very specific about the redistricting conversation.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Well, first of all, Tony's thank you so much for
- 3:12Speaker 3: reaching out and having me on. The reason I'm running
- 3:15Speaker 3: is who's yours and Americans You're tired of electing people
- 3:17Speaker 3: into office to stand up and fight for the Republican
- 3:20Speaker 3: Party platform, and when they get there, they don't fight
- 3:24Speaker 3: for us to truly help to truly help us keep
- 3:28Speaker 3: our republic. And that's what my main concern is I
- 3:32Speaker 3: am in it to win it. I'm tired of not
- 3:35Speaker 3: having representation. When Republicans get in power, they sit back.
- 3:39Speaker 3: They have the power to do good and they don't.
- 3:42Speaker 3: And so I'm not willing to sit back and be
- 3:44Speaker 3: quiet any longer.
- 3:48Speaker 1: You have served en roles in the Republican Party, you
- 3:51Speaker 1: have served as a county clerk. You've run for office before,
- 3:55Speaker 1: including a run that you made in the Republican primary
- 3:59Speaker 1: against the current state center there in District twenty three.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Spencer Deary took a third place, finished there with twenty
- 4:06Speaker 1: two point nine percent of the vote. Full disclosure it
- 4:09Speaker 1: was Deary with thirty point eight percent of the vote,
- 4:12Speaker 1: outpacing you by a little over nine hundred votes, Just
- 4:15Speaker 1: around nine hundred votes. I should say. So, when you
- 4:19Speaker 1: discussed the idea of not taking any longer. You've run
- 4:23Speaker 1: for office before, is it the belief that there's that
- 4:28Speaker 1: this has always been the case, or has the redistricting
- 4:31Speaker 1: now brought other people out from the woodwork.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Well, I think the redistricting the issue has brought other
- 4:37Speaker 3: people out from the woodwork. And the thing is if
- 4:40Speaker 3: once you have that conversation with people and you explained
- 4:43Speaker 3: them what is at stake. Then they are on board
- 4:47Speaker 3: for redistricting because they understand that when we put Indiana first,
- 4:51Speaker 3: we are putting America first. And when we have a
- 4:54Speaker 3: leader like Donald J. Trump, that is paving the way
- 4:58Speaker 3: for us to keep our repub blake instead of turning
- 5:01Speaker 3: it over to a democratic socialist party. You know, our
- 5:05Speaker 3: local Democrats may not believe like that, but they are
- 5:08Speaker 3: part of the larger picture of the party, which are
- 5:11Speaker 3: Democrats socialists, and that is the way we're leaning. And
- 5:14Speaker 3: if we don't redistrict, we are at risk of losing
- 5:18Speaker 3: our republic.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Talking to Paula Copenhager running for announcing she's running for
- 5:24Speaker 1: state Senate in District twenty three, Paula Copenhaveer co op
- 5:28Speaker 1: E n h A V E R Paula Copenhaveer dot com.
- 5:33Speaker 1: That message, that message of redistrict or die, which is
- 5:40Speaker 1: a little a bit of a takeoff of New Hampshire.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Does that message resonate when when Hoosiers look at what's
- 5:49Speaker 1: happening in this conversation about redistricting, do they, in your view,
- 5:54Speaker 1: see it this way or are you trying to spread
- 5:57Speaker 1: that message? And just whether I agree with you or not,
- 6:00Speaker 1: I want to hear from you, how do you back
- 6:02Speaker 1: up that message?
- 6:04Speaker 3: Well, and that's that's the same thing. That's where I
- 6:06Speaker 3: was at when this whole sedgery came up. Because I
- 6:09Speaker 3: am a former county clerk. I know what it takes
- 6:11Speaker 3: to redistrict. I see what it looks like. I've seen
- 6:13Speaker 3: what it looks like in Illinois. I've seen what it
- 6:15Speaker 3: looks like in Massachusetts. But when you look at the
- 6:18Speaker 3: broader picture, you see what is really at stake. It's
- 6:22Speaker 3: not really about all about Indiana. It's it's about America,
- 6:26Speaker 3: and we have to fight when we fight for Hoosiers
- 6:29Speaker 3: to keep Indiana first, that we are coming alongside our
- 6:33Speaker 3: president who is fighting to keep America first and to
- 6:35Speaker 3: keep America great. We are the greatest nation in the country.
- 6:39Speaker 3: But if we sit back and we don't play by
- 6:42Speaker 3: the same rules that the other party plays by, we
- 6:46Speaker 3: don't even have a dog in the fight.
- 6:50Speaker 1: I want to make sure the greatest nation in the world.
- 6:52Speaker 1: I want to make sure we said that right. That's
- 6:55Speaker 1: what it is, that the country. How do you respond
- 6:59Speaker 1: to people and how do you address this with other
- 7:02Speaker 1: potential candidates When you hear the idea of this is
- 7:07Speaker 1: rigging the system, this isn't fair, this is a power grab,
- 7:11Speaker 1: this is cheating.
- 7:12Speaker 3: How do you respond to that, Well, it's just like,
- 7:17Speaker 3: you know, Republicans want to stand into their principles, and
- 7:19Speaker 3: that's exactly what the Democratic Party is counting on, is
- 7:22Speaker 3: that's not to play by the same rules that they
- 7:25Speaker 3: have played for by years. And so when you sit
- 7:29Speaker 3: down and you have a conversation with them and you
- 7:31Speaker 3: look at what all is at stake and you walk
- 7:34Speaker 3: through the process, it's very clear to see that we're
- 7:37Speaker 3: not playing by the same rules. We never have. And
- 7:39Speaker 3: then once again when Republicans getting into office on the
- 7:43Speaker 3: promises that they're going to fight, they're going to push
- 7:46Speaker 3: back against the Democratic socialists, they have the power to
- 7:50Speaker 3: do it, and they sit there and they don't do it.
- 7:52Speaker 3: We have to come together, we have to follow our leader,
- 7:56Speaker 3: which is Donald J. Trump, to make America great. Who's
- 8:00Speaker 3: res first. Seventy percent of America, seventy six percent of
- 8:03Speaker 3: America is made up of small cities and towns with
- 8:06Speaker 3: small town values, who are patriotic, faith filled, and family values.
- 8:13Speaker 3: And that is what does at stake here is turning
- 8:16Speaker 3: our nation over to a Democratic Socialist party.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Paul Copenhaemer, I appreciate you taking the time to be
- 8:24Speaker 1: with us, just really quick before I let you go.
- 8:25Speaker 1: And I know I'm going to run late. As Saul
- 8:29Speaker 1: Lensky's rules for radicals would explain, a good countermeasure means
- 8:34Speaker 1: you might have to see it through to the end,
- 8:35Speaker 1: which is to say, if you win, you might vote
- 8:38Speaker 1: very districting. But what else is on your platform?
- 8:41Speaker 3: Is it all.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Single issue or is there something else you want to
- 8:45Speaker 1: see Indiana doing because you're still needing to represent your district. Yeah.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Absolutely, And I'm going to continue to stand up to
- 8:54Speaker 3: fight for our rural communities. And like I said, the
- 8:57Speaker 3: majority of my district is rule and I'm not part
- 9:02Speaker 3: of the political elite. I want to be part of
- 9:06Speaker 3: continuing to shape Indiana's future and moving us forward in
- 9:10Speaker 3: the rural community. The other thing is with my platform
- 9:17Speaker 3: is to make sure that we fight against the green
- 9:20Speaker 3: energy stuff that's coming in and what they've done in
- 9:22Speaker 3: Vermilion County carbon capture, all with the climate nonsense propaganda
- 9:27Speaker 3: that has been perpetrated on us. I will be a
- 9:30Speaker 3: voice for that community to push back against it.
