- 0:09Speaker 1: What's going on? Everyone?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome into another episode of to Checko DEII Andrew de Checko,
- 0:14Speaker 2: Eagles beat reporter for Insidethirds dot Com. Here and I
- 0:18Speaker 2: took my final stab at projecting the Eagles twenty twenty
- 0:23Speaker 2: six draft. That's right, The check O Mock Draft three
- 0:26Speaker 2: point zero is available right now on Inside the Birds
- 0:29Speaker 2: dot Com in written form. But what we're gonna do
- 0:32Speaker 2: today is go through the Day one and Day two
- 0:38Speaker 2: selections and I'm gonna provide my rationale that is behind
- 0:43Speaker 2: those selections and where the roster would stand if those
- 0:46Speaker 2: selections were made. I don't do any hypothetical trades typically,
- 0:50Speaker 2: That's not how I personally do those mock drafts.
- 0:54Speaker 1: I try to just stick with the here and now
- 0:56Speaker 1: and what we know and go from there.
- 1:00Speaker 2: And there will be the podcast with Memphis offensive tackle
- 1:05Speaker 2: Travis Burke on the way this week and on Monday,
- 1:09Speaker 2: I sat down with a premium player in this draft,
- 1:14Speaker 2: one of my favorite defensive players in this class, and
- 1:18Speaker 2: I look forward to bringing that interview to you guys.
- 1:20Speaker 2: That will be available on both YouTube and wherever you
- 1:24Speaker 2: get your podcasts. But let's go through the mock draft
- 1:27Speaker 2: because I found this one maybe to be my most
- 1:30Speaker 2: interesting and I really really concentrated and try to put
- 1:35Speaker 2: my Howie Roseman cap on and think about how the
- 1:41Speaker 2: Eagles might view this. And they have eight picks now
- 1:46Speaker 2: due to the recent acquisition of Packers wide receiver Dantavian Wicks.
- 1:51Speaker 2: And while they have effectively draft proof the roster, which
- 1:55Speaker 2: guards against the urge to reach in an effort to
- 1:58Speaker 2: backfill a position of me, there are still some needs
- 2:01Speaker 2: and I'm curious to see what the Eagles prioritize relative
- 2:06Speaker 2: to to where they're picking. And they are positioned to
- 2:10Speaker 2: be clear to adopt the best player available approach, And
- 2:15Speaker 2: with under two weeks to go, here's my final look
- 2:18Speaker 2: at it. Round one, pick number twenty three, Max Ianochre
- 2:24Speaker 2: tackle Arizona State. For clarity, my previous pick in this
- 2:29Speaker 2: space and the two point zero mock draft was Blake
- 2:32Speaker 2: Miller from Clemson. And if you can remember back to
- 2:35Speaker 2: the first podcast that I did where I went through
- 2:38Speaker 2: my one point zero, I had Cayden Procter in this spot,
- 2:42Speaker 2: so my third different offensive tackle, and I think it
- 2:45Speaker 2: was the tools and the ceiling that were my driving
- 2:49Speaker 2: force in my thought process here. I really likes I
- 2:53Speaker 2: really like what Ianachure can provide from an athletic standpoint.
- 2:57Speaker 2: He moves well, he's powerful, just a little bit row
- 3:01Speaker 2: relatively new to the game of football, but he did
- 3:04Speaker 2: start thirty one games over his final three seasons at
- 3:08Speaker 2: Arizona State. And when you look at what the Eagles
- 3:11Speaker 2: could be looking for, and I sort of mentioned this
- 3:14Speaker 2: when I was talking about Blake Miller, they have experienced,
- 3:18Speaker 2: like they have athleticism, and they are someone that I
- 3:22Speaker 2: believe would fit within the new scheme under Sean Mannion
- 3:26Speaker 2: and the run designs where lateral mobility and being able
- 3:31Speaker 2: to get to that second level with relative ease is
- 3:34Speaker 2: going to be I would think a priority. Now Blake Miller,
- 3:37Speaker 2: to be clear, can do that. I think Cayden procor
- 3:39Speaker 2: can certainly do that. But why wan with Ianatchor here
- 3:43Speaker 2: is because of the raw athleticism and the height of
- 3:48Speaker 2: his ceiling. If he's able to realize his potential, and
- 3:52Speaker 2: this has a very high upside potential. So when you're
- 3:56Speaker 2: looking at these offensive tackles, who projects to be the best,
- 4:01Speaker 2: and there are a lot of good candidates, Blake Miller,
- 4:04Speaker 2: fifty four starts at Clemson, that might be a safer option,
- 4:08Speaker 2: or you look at Caden Proctor played at Alabama, is
- 4:13Speaker 2: a little bit more polished. Yeah, that would make you
- 4:16Speaker 2: feel a little bit better if the Eagles went in
- 4:18Speaker 2: that direction. But I think that Ianachure has probably the
- 4:22Speaker 2: highest ceiling and it's going to take maybe a year
- 4:25Speaker 2: for him to really grow into that. But twenty two
- 4:28Speaker 2: years old, he arrived at Arizona State via East Los
- 4:31Speaker 2: Angeles College and he was a twenty twenty five second
- 4:35Speaker 2: team All Big Twelve selection, So that, coupled with the
- 4:40Speaker 2: thirty four inch arms, is another positive that I think
- 4:44Speaker 2: will make them appealing. I know that depending on where
- 4:47Speaker 2: you're looking, you may see him as a high second
- 4:49Speaker 2: round pick and think that that's an over overdraft. Well,
- 4:53Speaker 2: depending on who you talk to and depending on what
- 4:55Speaker 2: you read and what you know, I'm not necessarily sold
- 5:00Speaker 2: on the fact that Max i'anature is not going.
- 5:03Speaker 1: To be a first round pick.
- 5:04Speaker 2: In fact, when you look at the tools and the upside,
- 5:08Speaker 2: those are characteristics that typically get players vaulted into the
- 5:12Speaker 2: first round. And knowing how the Eagles view offensive line
- 5:15Speaker 2: and how much they prioritize taking that big swing for upside,
- 5:20Speaker 2: this one would make a lot of sense to me.
- 5:26Speaker 2: In the second round, pick number fifty four, I went
- 5:28Speaker 2: with a tight end that would be Eli Stowers out
- 5:31Speaker 2: of Vanderbilt. My previous pick in this space was Chris Burzell,
- 5:35Speaker 2: a wide receiver from Tennessee. The Eagles did a really
- 5:39Speaker 2: nice job of piecing together this tight end room when
- 5:42Speaker 2: it was relatively barren, and that was resigning Dallas Goddter
- 5:46Speaker 2: and Grand Calcata and bringing in veteran Johnny Munt to
- 5:50Speaker 2: be that mauling type of blocking tight end that they
- 5:53Speaker 2: so sorely needed. And then you also have Cameron Lattu,
- 5:56Speaker 2: Stone smart E, j Jenkins, and Jaheim Bell.
- 6:00Speaker 1: In that room.
- 6:01Speaker 2: But when you take a closer look, Goddard, Calkatara, and
- 6:04Speaker 2: Munt were signed to one year deals, and so that
- 6:07Speaker 2: leaves some uncertainty when you're taking a look at the
- 6:10Speaker 2: future of the position, and in a class that's so
- 6:14Speaker 2: deep with talent at the tight end position, one would
- 6:18Speaker 2: presume that the Eagles would feel so inclined to come
- 6:20Speaker 2: away with one and not necessarily take a cut on
- 6:23Speaker 2: a Day three prospect and hope they pan out. Taking
- 6:27Speaker 2: a player on well, Day one would have to be
- 6:29Speaker 2: Kenya Sadik, but Day two and they land really good
- 6:34Speaker 2: value because sours. He's a converted quarterback. He played at
- 6:38Speaker 2: Texas A and M in New Mexico State, but really
- 6:40Speaker 2: rose to prominence in his two seasons at Vanderbilt. But
- 6:44Speaker 2: he's still growing into the position, which means I think
- 6:48Speaker 2: that his ceiling is immensely high. Sure, he's a receiving
- 6:51Speaker 2: centric product or prospect, and he leaves a little bit
- 6:55Speaker 2: to be desired as a blocker. That's something he's working on.
- 6:58Speaker 2: If you listen to my interview with earlier in the
- 7:00Speaker 2: draft cycle, he alluded to that. He talked in depth
- 7:03Speaker 2: about what he's been doing to refine that area. And
- 7:07Speaker 2: for anyone suggesting that the Eagles would bypass a player
- 7:11Speaker 2: of that caliber simply because he's not a proficient blocker,
- 7:15Speaker 2: I think that that would be extremely so shortsighted. They're
- 7:18Speaker 2: not going to take Eli Stowers off their board because
- 7:21Speaker 2: of that. You can develop and grow into it. And
- 7:25Speaker 2: I was talking to Jeff Mosher and he mentioned something.
- 7:28Speaker 2: You know, nobody knew that Dallas Goddard was was going
- 7:31Speaker 2: to be the blocker that he became, but he kind.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Of grew into that role.
- 7:35Speaker 2: And I go back to what I just said about
- 7:38Speaker 2: the tight ends being on one year deals Dallas Goddard,
- 7:41Speaker 2: Grant Kakata, and Johnny Munt. Depending on who you draft,
- 7:44Speaker 2: you're still going to have to remake that room next
- 7:46Speaker 2: year and you'll have the opportunity to add a blocking
- 7:49Speaker 2: centric tight end, kind of like what you just did
- 7:51Speaker 2: with Johnny Munt.
- 7:52Speaker 1: So you take the best player available.
- 7:54Speaker 2: You take a weapon like Eli Stowers who can be
- 7:57Speaker 2: moved around formations, he can create mismatch, is natural receiver,
- 8:03Speaker 2: sound route runner, I would say, knows how to find
- 8:05Speaker 2: the sawt spots in zone, will go get the football.
- 8:08Speaker 2: I like his ball skills, and when you look at
- 8:10Speaker 2: the current trend around the NFL, offenses are looking to
- 8:15Speaker 2: spread teams out and a weapon like Eli Stowers I
- 8:18Speaker 2: would think would carry some value and so I have
- 8:21Speaker 2: him as the pick at.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Number fifty four.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Moving along to the third round pick, pick sixty eight,
- 8:31Speaker 2: Eagles go wide receiver here Ted Hurst out of Georgia State.
- 8:35Speaker 2: The previous pick in this space was Joshua Josephs and
- 8:39Speaker 2: edge rusher out of Tennessee. I know the Eagles traded
- 8:43Speaker 2: for Dontavian Wicks, but aj Brown's future is uncertain at
- 8:48Speaker 2: this present time, and there still is a need for
- 8:52Speaker 2: long term.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Building blocks at the position.
- 8:55Speaker 2: And I know that the strength of numbers is something
- 8:58Speaker 2: that's apparent, but that shouldn't preclude the Eagles from pouncing
- 9:02Speaker 2: on an early round wide receiver. And so ted Hurst
- 9:06Speaker 2: is one of my favorite receivers in this draft class. Fast,
- 9:10Speaker 2: four to four, six y four two and six pounds,
- 9:13Speaker 2: he divided his college career between Valdosta State Division two
- 9:17Speaker 2: school and Georgia State, and he has experienced a pre
- 9:21Speaker 2: draft surge, I would say, which is on the backs
- 9:24Speaker 2: of impressive showings at the Reese's Senior Bowl in NFL
- 9:27Speaker 2: scouting combine. He's a natural separator. He can threaten teams
- 9:31Speaker 2: vertically and add a different dimension to the offense.
- 9:35Speaker 1: But he has the catch radius and the ball skills.
- 9:38Speaker 2: He's very good at tracking the football, and Jalen Hurts
- 9:41Speaker 2: what's his best throw, His money throw is his deep ball.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Someone like ted Hurst could form an early rapport with.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Jalen as a result of that.
- 9:50Speaker 2: And this is someone who's I go back to what
- 9:53Speaker 2: I just said, his stock has steadily risen throughout the process.
- 9:58Speaker 2: I don't think this is an overdraft at all. It
- 10:00Speaker 2: wouldn't surprise me if he goes anywhere from sixty five
- 10:04Speaker 2: to seventy five because he has a lot of room
- 10:08Speaker 2: to grow. I think his best football's in front of him.
- 10:11Speaker 2: He's just scratching the surface, and at twenty one years old,
- 10:16Speaker 2: he has almost not a blank canvas. But he has
- 10:19Speaker 2: a lot of room to grow. And you get him
- 10:21Speaker 2: into an NFL building, the coaching staff is going to
- 10:24Speaker 2: get the most out of a player like that. He
- 10:26Speaker 2: gives you upside, he gives you home run hitting ability,
- 10:29Speaker 2: and he gives you explosive plays. Last season he had
- 10:32Speaker 2: seventy one grabs or one thousand and four yards.
- 10:35Speaker 1: And six touchdowns.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Yes, that would leave the Eagles a little crowded a
- 10:40Speaker 2: wide receiver. But if he's the best player on your
- 10:43Speaker 2: board and you view him as a difference maker, you
- 10:44Speaker 2: take that player and you worry about the numbers.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Later on, I went through this one.
- 10:49Speaker 2: I discussed the state of the wide receiver room after
- 10:52Speaker 2: the Dantavian Witch trade, and there's not a.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Lot that should be assured.
- 10:58Speaker 2: And Hollywood Brown, I would imagine you would be on
- 11:00Speaker 2: the team. DeVante Smith, certainly, Dontae vian Wick, certainly aj
- 11:04Speaker 2: Brown future up in the air. Guys like Johnny Wilson
- 11:08Speaker 2: and Darius Cooper and Elijah Moore, they're gonna have to
- 11:10Speaker 2: battle to make the roster.
- 11:12Speaker 1: And there's a lot.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Of competition here, perhaps more than I can remember, because
- 11:16Speaker 2: now you have established players that are sort of jocking
- 11:19Speaker 2: for position, but you add a premier talent if you
- 11:23Speaker 2: view him as a difference maker.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic,
- 11:29Speaker 3: long lines, We've all been there, But when it comes
- 11:31Speaker 3: to your cannabis, Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is

- 12:10Speaker 3: community with specials for fans, students, service members, and healthcare pros.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Camden Apothecary top quality cannabis, great prices, and an experience
- 12:21Speaker 3: made for Philly fans twenty one and up.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Rounding things out with my Day one and Day two picks,
- 12:27Speaker 2: Round three, pick number ninety eight, I went Jayshawn Barrum,
- 12:31Speaker 2: edge rusher from Michigan. My previous pick in the space
- 12:34Speaker 2: was Eli rarinan tight end from Notre Dame. Look, the
- 12:39Speaker 2: Eagles still need a headliner at the position, and I'm
- 12:42Speaker 2: not suggesting that barm would be that player.
- 12:47Speaker 1: The current pass rush group.
- 12:48Speaker 2: For those keeping score, Jay Loox Hunt, Nolan Smith, ak Ebikadi, Joe,
- 12:54Speaker 2: tryon Shoyinka and Jose Ramirez, but try on show Yanka
- 12:59Speaker 2: and Ebicicadi or on one and two year deals respectively,
- 13:02Speaker 2: And again they shouldn't be assured anything. Try on Showyanka's
- 13:07Speaker 2: gonna have to battle to make the roster. And I
- 13:09Speaker 2: would also make the argument that Ebuicadie needs to step
- 13:14Speaker 2: in and be someone who the Eagles feel confident in
- 13:17Speaker 2: as a depth piece moving forward.
- 13:19Speaker 1: He had sporadic production with the Falcons.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Now I'm a little bit more bullish on what he
- 13:25Speaker 2: could provide in a rotational role than I am try
- 13:27Speaker 2: on Sho Yanka, And I think he deserves the benefit
- 13:30Speaker 2: of the doubt, but no one should really be assured
- 13:34Speaker 2: much of anything, and.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I think barm you know he'll be those first two seasons.
- 13:44Speaker 2: He had his first two seasons at Maryland before he
- 13:47Speaker 2: went to Michigan. He was a twenty twenty five honorable
- 13:50Speaker 2: mention All Big Ten selection. He had thirty four tackles,
- 13:53Speaker 2: ten for loss, four sacks, three pass the defendant, and
- 13:56Speaker 2: a forced fumble in eleven stars, six foot three, two
- 13:59Speaker 2: hundred and fifty one pounds at Michigan's pro Day, which
- 14:02Speaker 2: is roughly a ten pounds increase since the NFL scouting combine.
- 14:05Speaker 2: He's twitchy, he's athletic, and he fires off the ball
- 14:08Speaker 2: with urgency, and he plays with a seemingly endless supply
- 14:12Speaker 2: of energy.
- 14:13Speaker 1: As far as pass.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Rush experience goes, he's still fairly green. He was a
- 14:17Speaker 2: linebacker and then early in the season he really pivoted
- 14:20Speaker 2: and became an edge rusher. But you look at that
- 14:23Speaker 2: athleticism and that skill set, and that suggests he's just
- 14:27Speaker 2: scratching the surface. We'll get to Day two tomorrow, or
- 14:31Speaker 2: we'll get to the second part, which will be the
- 14:34Speaker 2: Day three prospects tomorrow. But this sort of summarizes the
- 14:38Speaker 2: direction and explaining my thought process into these selections where
- 14:42Speaker 2: I'm able to stretch out a little bit more and
- 14:44Speaker 2: expand hope you enjoyed this, and that's going to do
- 14:47Speaker 2: it for this episode of The Checho Daily, Andrew de Checo,
- 14:51Speaker 2: and we'll catch you all on the next one.
