- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, everybody, No, we already started the show. We started
- 0:03Speaker 1: the show when your ship was fucked up. Everybody knows. Now,
- 0:06Speaker 1: I know you're just just just exhaling the bong hit.
- 0:09Speaker 1: But calm no, I didn't just exhale the bong hit everyone.
- 0:17Speaker 1: The whole time I was I was trying to listen.
- 0:18Speaker 1: I was like, the audience is going to turn this off.
- 0:20Speaker 1: He's yelling at everyone, and yet it's one of our
- 0:24Speaker 1: greatest reviewed. It was very funny, by the way, I
- 0:27Speaker 1: have to say, after you stopped yelling, I was laughing
- 0:29Speaker 1: my butt off, so I didn't have a whole episode no.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Once I said, dude, can you You're like literally your
- 0:35Speaker 1: body was standing and he yelling down into the mic,
- 0:39Speaker 1: I was like, can you please calm down. I want
- 0:42Speaker 1: the audience at home to know that Donald, as you know,
- 0:45Speaker 1: just moved into his house. He has a giant bookshelf
- 0:47Speaker 1: behind him with the library letter as we mentioned, and
- 0:49Speaker 1: he has one book so far displayed, and I believe
- 0:52Speaker 1: it's a Star Wars side show collectibles book. Correct sir.
- 0:58Speaker 1: The first things I talked to today, oh Tony Gilroy,
- 1:03Speaker 1: Oh shit, I know, let's have a conversation. I'm sorry
- 1:07Speaker 1: if I yelled. Just now, Let's let the baby latchet back,
- 1:13Speaker 1: let the weeds settle into a more peaceful place. I
- 1:17Speaker 1: also have to apologize last week. If you notice my
- 1:19Speaker 1: audio is a bit off, It's not Daniel's fault. Some
- 1:21Speaker 1: of you might be thinking, nobody, Zach, let's get to
- 1:24Speaker 1: the Tony Gilroy of it all. Okay, sorry, I am
- 1:27Speaker 1: the engineer. It is my job to say, is everybody
- 1:29Speaker 1: recording you are the engineer. Nobody cares Daniel. Nobody cares Daniel.
- 1:34Speaker 1: It's important we all take responsibiit all right? So you
- 1:36Speaker 1: spoke to Tony Gilroy. Tell people who don't know who
- 1:38Speaker 1: Tony Gilroy is, Joel. Yeah, Tony Gilroy wrote your favorite
- 1:42Speaker 1: action movie and Mine, the Born Identity Original Trilogy. Incredible writer.
- 1:48Speaker 1: And he also is the showrunner and creator of and
- 1:51Speaker 1: or Um. So he is up for a bunch of
- 1:54Speaker 1: awards this award season, as is his production designer, Luke
- 1:58Speaker 1: Hole So beautiful, Zach, remind me with the production designers,
- 2:02Speaker 1: what's their guild called? I don't know, aga, I can't remember.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I make sure they were very kindly invited me in
- 2:09Speaker 1: to talk to both Luke and Tony about and or
- 2:12Speaker 1: and their experience working together. And I learned a lot
- 2:14Speaker 1: and it was very beautiful that show. I have to
- 2:17Speaker 1: say I voted on Mom, the d GA, the WGA,
- 2:20Speaker 1: and SAG. I'm not going to tell you who I
- 2:22Speaker 1: voted for him, but I did Donald. You definitely didn't
- 2:26Speaker 1: vote for SAG because that would have involved you knowing
- 2:31Speaker 1: that the SAG Awards deadline was coming up. And if
- 2:34Speaker 1: Casey didn't tell you and put it in front of you,
- 2:36Speaker 1: I don't think it happened. I only vote in November,
- 2:42Speaker 1: Okay that even if there's no election, he just makes
- 2:47Speaker 1: sure to vote on something in November. I gotta tell you, so,
- 2:52Speaker 1: our Super Bowl ad is out. Did you guys see it?
- 2:54Speaker 1: I didn't love it. I love it. I love it.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I love it and where every plays, I'll watch it.
- 3:01Speaker 1: I'll watch it. So watch it. This is gonna be
- 3:04Speaker 1: air after the Super Bowl. Obviously, I'm so glad that
- 3:08Speaker 1: Blank team one who won. But we're recording this on
- 3:15Speaker 1: Thursday before the Bowl. Um. Yeah, these days, the ad
- 3:18Speaker 1: companies released the ads on the web a little bit early, um,
- 3:21Speaker 1: just to kind of gain some momentum. But then it'll
- 3:24Speaker 1: play for the first time on TV. On the Bowl
- 3:26Speaker 1: on Sunday. But anyway, see it, Oh my god, this
- 3:31Speaker 1: you haven't seen it too well, you mightly want to
- 3:32Speaker 1: watch it now a sixty let's say a quick break
- 3:35Speaker 1: and we're all gonna watch the trailer. Joan me to
- 3:37Speaker 1: link it to you, Joel, there's a People's article about it.
- 3:39Speaker 1: It's on the YouTube's you know, and just there's a
- 3:43Speaker 1: link to the YouTube video. There's better on the YouTube
- 3:46Speaker 1: is because it's not cut rectangular for reels and this
- 3:51Speaker 1: is that. So we're gonna take it. We're gonna take
- 3:53Speaker 1: a break, guys, and we're gonna watch this. No, we're
- 3:54Speaker 1: not gonna take a break. We're just gonna give you.
- 3:56Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about meaning this ship while you, audience,
- 3:59Speaker 1: take a moment to look at the T Mobile commercial
- 4:01Speaker 1: where we sing with John Travolta. I'm pressing play right now.
- 4:07Speaker 1: All right, good share screen, Donald, Well let's let them
- 4:14Speaker 1: digest it. Pretty fun hunt Donald Joel's face right now.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I think that's called she shook. I think she shook.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Oh my god, Oh my god, guys, it's so cute. Great,
- 4:39Speaker 1: why came out? What was it like singing with John
- 4:44Speaker 1: Travolta that's crazy. It was so cool. He was so nice.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Donald and I had a chap beforehand. We're like, bro,
- 4:50Speaker 1: you know, we're not great around really famous people. You
- 4:53Speaker 1: need to be chill and listen Donald Donald, and keep
- 4:58Speaker 1: in mind you it's long. We were like drunk at
- 5:01Speaker 1: a party, Donald super sober. We're like, yeah, we got it.
- 5:04Speaker 1: We're locked in ten seconds and I go over, he's
- 5:07Speaker 1: intervaled his face talking about face off. Wow, I can't listen. Man.
- 5:16Speaker 1: He's one of my favorites, you know what I mean,
- 5:18Speaker 1: Like even before we did the commercial, Like, I've seen
- 5:22Speaker 1: pretty much all of his movies and he's always been great,
- 5:26Speaker 1: you know. And you know, Saturday Night Fever is one
- 5:30Speaker 1: of the dopest movies ever made. If you're a young
- 5:32Speaker 1: actor and you want to see, you know, just good
- 5:36Speaker 1: movie making, put that on. I promise you it still
- 5:39Speaker 1: holds up. And it's about disco too, but it's also
- 5:43Speaker 1: about more than that, you know, just if you get
- 5:45Speaker 1: the opportunity. Anyway, he couldn't have been nicer. He was
- 5:48Speaker 1: so cool. It was fun and we got to dance
- 5:50Speaker 1: with him. There's an extended version that I guess since
- 5:53Speaker 1: this is airing Tuesday, will probably be out. It's not
- 5:56Speaker 1: out yet. But there's like a ninety second version where
- 5:58Speaker 1: we there's a two minute version, there's a two minute version,
- 6:02Speaker 1: there's nineties there's longer versions where we really dance. We made.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I mean, it's too bad they couldn't air. I feel
- 6:08Speaker 1: like the longer the version, the better the commercial. I'm
- 6:11Speaker 1: just gonna keep in one hundred. No, it's so funny
- 6:13Speaker 1: we dance with him. There's a whole nother section that
- 6:15Speaker 1: obviously they couldn't fit into a sixty second ad for
- 6:18Speaker 1: the super Bowl. It's so expensive to advertise the super Bowl.
- 6:20Speaker 1: But and I'm so happy the sixty seconds exist. But
- 6:23Speaker 1: if you if you're a fan of us obviously listening
- 6:26Speaker 1: to this, we check out the long extended version because
- 6:29Speaker 1: it's pretty funny. I was like, there's no way they
- 6:31Speaker 1: could play this, man, this is like the length of
- 6:33Speaker 1: the halftime show. You two minutes. Well, there's there's a
- 6:40Speaker 1: two minute one which has a little dialogue moment with
- 6:43Speaker 1: me and Donald um and that's funny. And but the
- 6:46Speaker 1: ninety second one has a whole dance sequence. It's funny. Yeah,
- 6:50Speaker 1: I love it. I'm so happy we got the opportunity
- 6:52Speaker 1: to do. Yeah, it's so fun. I mean, it's cool
- 6:55Speaker 1: to be in a Super Bowl ad, but it's also
- 6:57Speaker 1: just like, you know, dancing and singing Grease with Travolta.
- 7:00Speaker 1: That's just like life goals, you know. Yeah, shout out
- 7:02Speaker 1: Plugman t Mobile. Yeah, thank you. Brian Klugman, who we've
- 7:07Speaker 1: had on the show. As you know, he's the don
- 7:09Speaker 1: draper of it all, and he's just such a a
- 7:12Speaker 1: good man and a funny man. He wrote that whole
- 7:14Speaker 1: thing himself, and it's hilarious. We never thought they were
- 7:18Speaker 1: gonna get Travolta, do they donald They approached Alan and
- 7:20Speaker 1: I about it. We're like, yeah, that sounds awesome, but
- 7:22Speaker 1: Travolta is not gonna do this, and then he and
- 7:24Speaker 1: then Travolta loved it. He thought it was so funny. Yeah,
- 7:27Speaker 1: shooting your shots everywhere, that's what they were saying about
- 7:31Speaker 1: Harrison Ford coming on drinking. Okay, it'll never happens. You
- 7:38Speaker 1: gotta ask. I never thought Ali Poorman's gonna see us
- 7:40Speaker 1: to Garden State. You just you gotta you gotta shoot
- 7:43Speaker 1: your shot, you gotta try, You gotta ask. You know,
- 7:44Speaker 1: I'm gonna keep it one hundred. I never thought Casey
- 7:46Speaker 1: Copp would say yes to say this morning, but she
- 7:49Speaker 1: did fucking awesome. I go too far. I went too far.
- 7:55Speaker 1: You went perfect. Although although it was funny, I thought
- 7:59Speaker 1: you were gonna it's funny because I thought you were
- 8:02Speaker 1: gonna say I never thought Casey cob would say yes
- 8:04Speaker 1: to marrying me or dating me, because she said no
- 8:06Speaker 1: a bunch of times yeah, and then she wouldn't. She
- 8:10Speaker 1: said she would. You know, she infamously said, doesn't he
- 8:12Speaker 1: have like nine kids? But then but then she fell
- 8:17Speaker 1: in love with you and you're married, but you turned
- 8:18Speaker 1: it into having sex this morning, which is yes, you
- 8:21Speaker 1: know it doesn't listen you know me. You don't why
- 8:25Speaker 1: she gave me morning secks because you know that T mobile,
- 8:27Speaker 1: that T mobile drop that T mobile dropt. Do you
- 8:31Speaker 1: know itself? She was like, all right, I got my
- 8:33Speaker 1: new fellows in my house. You wanted to come down here, No,
- 8:36Speaker 1: dont don't get her. Don't don't don't get her to
- 8:38Speaker 1: come down here. No we don't. We don't want Casey
- 8:41Speaker 1: to come down here. I love Casey, but let's stay
- 8:42Speaker 1: focused on topic. We have all so much to talk about.
- 8:45Speaker 1: It's the beginning of season eight. You're right. Season eight,
- 8:50Speaker 1: Season eight, we're running out episodes, guys, I know we
- 8:54Speaker 1: don't have that many left. Yeah, we need to come
- 8:56Speaker 1: up with an idea for the show. Let's just slow down.
- 8:59Speaker 1: We're going too fast asked. It's like it's like we're
- 9:01Speaker 1: going too fast, Donald, like you probably were with Casey
- 9:04Speaker 1: this morning. You have to slow No, no, no, no, no,
- 9:07Speaker 1: savor Now I gotta go get him. No, don't go
- 9:11Speaker 1: get her talking about you talking about No, I don't.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Oh my god. You know the real reason he goes
- 9:19Speaker 1: and gets her is he so incredibly clingy and p
- 9:22Speaker 1: whipped that, like the the ninety minutes we do the
- 9:25Speaker 1: podcast is too much time apart, he has to go
- 9:28Speaker 1: get her. Oh, I feel like we're interrupting whatever she's
- 9:31Speaker 1: trying to do while Donald is busy. She's probably so
- 9:35Speaker 1: stoked that she gets a solid ninety minutes to do
- 9:37Speaker 1: some shit without him bothering her talking about it. Oh,
- 9:49Speaker 1: Zach's talking about talking about it? What the is he
- 9:52Speaker 1: talking about? I play the theme song Casey coming down here,
- 10:02Speaker 1: do tell me what to do? And well, this is embarrassing. No, listen,
- 10:11Speaker 1: ye get down so we can see you your husbands.
- 10:15Speaker 1: He I thought he was gonna say. I thought he
- 10:17Speaker 1: was gonna say, Um. We were talking about how you
- 10:20Speaker 1: know you have to when when you're trying to get
- 10:22Speaker 1: an actor for something, you can't give up. You have
- 10:23Speaker 1: to keep trying to get them to be in your show,
- 10:25Speaker 1: if it's Harrison Forward or whatever. Assistance be persistent exactly.
- 10:29Speaker 1: And Donald started to say, well, I couldn't believe that
- 10:32Speaker 1: Casey Cobb, and I thought he was gonna say, married
- 10:35Speaker 1: me after after something, and then he said, was willing
- 10:37Speaker 1: to have sex with me this morning? Well, you know,
- 10:41Speaker 1: I take one for the team. Guys, I don't do
- 10:49Speaker 1: what I do know. But then Zach said, you know
- 10:51Speaker 1: why she had sex with you because that T mobile dropped. Yeah, yeah,
- 10:55Speaker 1: the T mobile I dropped. He got congratulations, I told you, Yeah,
- 10:59Speaker 1: yeah he got something congratulations sex. He got congratulations sex.
- 11:02Speaker 1: And you know what, I can't have him on cloud nine.
- 11:05Speaker 1: And then all of a sudden fall to the gutter
- 11:07Speaker 1: because you know, I didn't perform, but perform. I will
- 11:16Speaker 1: humble his ass tomorrow morning. I'll be like you had
- 11:19Speaker 1: your day, Yes, that shi is over? Yeah, now we
- 11:23Speaker 1: need to yeah, super Bowl. So Casey. Then Donald made
- 11:29Speaker 1: some comment because I said, you know, I hope that
- 11:31Speaker 1: you didn't rush things, and that we were talking about
- 11:34Speaker 1: this podcast and how it's going so fast and we
- 11:36Speaker 1: need to slow down and not rush. I said to Donald,
- 11:40Speaker 1: I hope that he's savored this morning and didn't didn't
- 11:42Speaker 1: rush too fast. And he said, no, no, just like
- 11:45Speaker 1: I rushed this morning. I said, oh no, no, no, yeah,
- 11:47Speaker 1: And then he said, I go go get Casey because
- 11:49Speaker 1: he wanted to. I assume he wanted you to to say,
- 11:52Speaker 1: what a wonderful lover. He honest with him. Everybody wants
- 11:54Speaker 1: to hear the honest and goodness truth out there. Babe.
- 11:58Speaker 1: That ship was long. I gotta be sho First of all,
- 12:12Speaker 1: this one savers every fucking second. There are times that
- 12:19Speaker 1: I have to like snap and be like, hey, come
- 12:22Speaker 1: back back. Gods hilarious. I have to bring it back
- 12:42Speaker 1: to reality. Sometimes I'll look back and he's like dreaming.
- 12:46Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my god, not dreaming. He's in his
- 12:48Speaker 1: happy in it. Oh my god. She said. Sometimes I
- 12:57Speaker 1: have to look back. She said, you have looked back.
- 13:00Speaker 1: She looked back, like yeah, it's just to look back,
- 13:04Speaker 1: because yeah, she has to look back. She says that
- 13:08Speaker 1: you're sort of lost in a dream world and she
- 13:11Speaker 1: has to snap to bring you back over the over
- 13:14Speaker 1: the shoulder, like this is great, Right, we're gonna win
- 13:22Speaker 1: an award. All right, we got to start the show.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Thank you for your sex anecdote. I hope your floors
- 13:31Speaker 1: are okay. I'm gonna get a kiss. That is amazing?
- 13:35Speaker 1: Good is there? It is? You guys are hilarious. I
- 13:38Speaker 1: would watch that reality show. I love that. I know
- 13:42Speaker 1: you're so in loving adorable dude. It's like, you know
- 13:46Speaker 1: it's great, But we're here to talk about scrubs. Yeah,
- 13:49Speaker 1: we're gonna focus on scrubs. I just wanted to say
- 13:51Speaker 1: one last thing. I recently started watching The Boys again.
- 13:54Speaker 1: It is so good because I had paused. I had
- 13:58Speaker 1: paused for some reason, and now I just finished season two,
- 14:01Speaker 1: and that is one of the best shows on TV.
- 14:03Speaker 1: And it's a shame that Donald doesn't watch things, because man,
- 14:07Speaker 1: he would love that. I watch I watched season one
- 14:11Speaker 1: of the Boys. Uh, and I guess I watched season
- 14:17Speaker 1: some of season two. It's so crazy. It's do you
- 14:21Speaker 1: know about the crazy shot in season three? Don't ruin
- 14:23Speaker 1: anything in season three? Please, no, you don't have to
- 14:25Speaker 1: don't ruin anything. You know, it's it's good. I like
- 14:29Speaker 1: I like the show. You know, superhero shows, I don't know, man,
- 14:34Speaker 1: superhero shows get a little boring to me because I
- 14:39Speaker 1: don't know, man. After a while, they just they just
- 14:42Speaker 1: it's I can't take the bullshit. I want to see
- 14:45Speaker 1: the action, and I want to see the comic book
- 14:47Speaker 1: stuff I don't necessarily want to see, like the drama
- 14:51Speaker 1: of it all. This show is a lot of social commentary,
- 14:54Speaker 1: which is brilliant. I mean, there's so cool. That's cool.
- 14:58Speaker 1: And all the people watching this show, um, who who? Who? Who? Who?
- 15:03Speaker 1: Don't know that they're rooting for the bad guy? Oh? Oh,
- 15:06Speaker 1: they definitely are. They definitely know that. Listen, that's a
- 15:11Speaker 1: crazy thing, you know, that's the crazy thing. America thinks
- 15:14Speaker 1: we're Superman, but we're really fucking that dude, Homelander. We're
- 15:19Speaker 1: really Homelander. But there must be people out there. I
- 15:21Speaker 1: was watching it, and the end of season three is
- 15:23Speaker 1: particularly poignant about social comments. Sorry, end of season two
- 15:27Speaker 1: is particularly poignant. I mean, there's literally an attack on
- 15:29Speaker 1: the Capitol in the show, and I said, I wonder
- 15:33Speaker 1: if just people watching this rooting for Homelander and there
- 15:36Speaker 1: must be Yeah, certainly, ye, season three top season two,
- 15:41Speaker 1: Zach and I can't wait really thoughts interesting? Okay, but
- 15:44Speaker 1: season one was Season one was really good. I thought
- 15:48Speaker 1: season two kind of fell from season one, but that's
- 15:50Speaker 1: just I love it. Listen, listen, put it this way.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Put this way. I'm not a person who ever watches
- 15:55Speaker 1: superhero stuff for the most part, as you guys all know,
- 15:58Speaker 1: And but this one is just the writing is so incredible.
- 16:00Speaker 1: It's so funny, and then at the same time, it's
- 16:03Speaker 1: so r rated, Like I feel like it's the most
- 16:06Speaker 1: r rated thing I've ever seen on TV. Yeah, like
- 16:09Speaker 1: the gore and the sex stuff and yeah, but Nose
- 16:13Speaker 1: two had sex and these two had sex in the
- 16:15Speaker 1: sky yeah, like above the couch and everything like that.
- 16:19Speaker 1: They're not ready and that ship and they bang so hard,
- 16:22Speaker 1: but like she was like, for real, for real about it.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Bang that go too far? No, okay, he just talks
- 16:29Speaker 1: about having sex with your wife. So lots of lots
- 16:32Speaker 1: of people, You're fine, Um, all right, should we get
- 16:35Speaker 1: into season eight? Everybody, let's count sat Donald's seven eight
- 16:39Speaker 1: stories about show. We made about a bunch of doctor
- 16:45Speaker 1: nurses and stories. So yet around here, yeah, around here. Well,
- 17:02Speaker 1: it's a whole new world, everybody. We're on ABC now. Now,
- 17:06Speaker 1: just one thing I didn't know as a piece of trivia.
- 17:09Speaker 1: As you know, throughout seasons one through seven, I have
- 17:11Speaker 1: said that this show is shot on sixteen millimeter film
- 17:15Speaker 1: and it always had the standard square aspect ratio. But
- 17:21Speaker 1: I'm guessing, well not guessing, I can tell. Starting in
- 17:24Speaker 1: season eight it was finally upressed. The film was upresed
- 17:29Speaker 1: to HD for the first time, so you'll notice that
- 17:31Speaker 1: it's actually finally sixteen by nine. Any other times, yes,
- 17:36Speaker 1: any other time you've seen the show, seasons one through
- 17:41Speaker 1: seven seemingly fit your whole square sixteen by nine television.
- 17:46Speaker 1: It's been cropped by whomever is broadcasting it. But this
- 17:51Speaker 1: is finally a full HD television show because I'm assuming
- 17:55Speaker 1: back that is when the switches were being made to
- 17:58Speaker 1: making everything HD. I want to just say something really
- 18:01Speaker 1: quick before we start ahead. I found myself more fascinated
- 18:06Speaker 1: with who was on the show this time around, more
- 18:11Speaker 1: than what was happening in the show, which was really
- 18:15Speaker 1: interesting because this is the first this is the first
- 18:17Speaker 1: time I've ever done that, and we've had some amazing
- 18:21Speaker 1: guest stars before, but this was the first time where
- 18:24Speaker 1: I was like, wait a second, holy shit that's and
- 18:28Speaker 1: holy shit that's and wow, this is before they and
- 18:32Speaker 1: oh my god, we were so you know what I mean, Like, well,
- 18:36Speaker 1: as He's Unsorry of course and Eliza Cooper are two
- 18:40Speaker 1: people that really and Tarn kill him. Tarn kill him
- 18:43Speaker 1: three people that really broke out from this. I mean,
- 18:47Speaker 1: Tarn was known a bit before, but I don't think
- 18:50Speaker 1: as He's well, he was like on Matt Look, Tarn
- 18:52Speaker 1: was on Mad TV and Nickelodeon stuff like that, you
- 18:56Speaker 1: know what I mean. He hadn't necessarily had his big
- 19:00Speaker 1: you know, not ready for prime time breakout. Yeah, yeah,
- 19:06Speaker 1: breakout moment yet. But A Z's was pretty unknown, right,
- 19:08Speaker 1: Maybe he was a stand up no buzz's had like
- 19:11Speaker 1: some maybe he was on the internet or something like that.
- 19:14Speaker 1: I remember walking with his Z's in the parking lot
- 19:16Speaker 1: and being like giving him the hey, kid, you stick
- 19:19Speaker 1: to it. You're gonna be really gear, really funny, fucking idiot.
- 19:22Speaker 1: I fucking shot myself in the foot. This motherfucker goes
- 19:25Speaker 1: on to be as he's on three, you know what
- 19:26Speaker 1: I mean, Like, come on, bro, Like, but you knew,
- 19:30Speaker 1: but we knew back then. You knew back then he
- 19:33Speaker 1: was gonna be good, and you knew Eliza was gonna
- 19:35Speaker 1: be good. Yeah, they were all great. I mean think
- 19:37Speaker 1: about it, like, I think Bill's um strategy, I assume
- 19:42Speaker 1: was like I want to you know, Bill always said
- 19:44Speaker 1: that he thought there's no reason that this couldn't be
- 19:46Speaker 1: like an ER where R type show where he keeps
- 19:49Speaker 1: it going, and I think the idea this again another
- 19:52Speaker 1: thing is we this is the first episode we moved
- 19:54Speaker 1: to ABC. So we'll talk about some of the jokes
- 19:56Speaker 1: that were in there because of ABC. So keep in
- 20:00Speaker 1: mind what had happened was NBC. The ratings weren't, you know,
- 20:03Speaker 1: big enough, and they were like, you know what, seven
- 20:04Speaker 1: seasons is good, that'll be the end. And then the
- 20:08Speaker 1: show is owned by Disney, as we've told you in
- 20:10Speaker 1: ABC is owned by Disney, so um Disney said, whoa, whoa, whoa. Well,
- 20:14Speaker 1: well we're not done yet, we're gonna put it on ABC.
- 20:18Speaker 1: So I think Bill's thinking was as any smart showrunner
- 20:23Speaker 1: would like, you know, maybe I should start introducing some
- 20:26Speaker 1: new young blood because this could be like er I
- 20:29Speaker 1: just keeps going for twenty years with new comedians. He
- 20:32Speaker 1: was trying to bring in Sam. Yes, like for those
- 20:36Speaker 1: of you that know a different Strokes reference, he was
- 20:38Speaker 1: trying to bring in Sam. I could bring dance and
- 20:42Speaker 1: play the guitar, mister date anyway. So that's what's going
- 20:49Speaker 1: on with them, And then of course we have the
- 20:52Speaker 1: stunningly beautiful Courtney Cox coming. You know, Bill was onto something.
- 20:59Speaker 1: I think this would have worked if if if he
- 21:02Speaker 1: could have kept the original cast for the whole series,
- 21:06Speaker 1: and if he would have stayed on the show, you
- 21:07Speaker 1: know what I mean. Like, you know, I don't remember
- 21:10Speaker 1: season nine. I know we shot a season nine, I
- 21:12Speaker 1: don't necessarily remember it. Stone, you must have been well,
- 21:16Speaker 1: Bill was gone, you know at that point I was
- 21:18Speaker 1: freaking out of control. Stone man, like I was, Well,
- 21:22Speaker 1: we joke about season nine and we're gonna watch season nine,
- 21:24Speaker 1: which which would be fun because I definitely Donald and
- 21:27Speaker 1: I have not seen a single episode of it. But um, Bill,
- 21:32Speaker 1: you know, um. You know it's worth noting that Bill
- 21:35Speaker 1: wasn't the writer of that sort of spin off. It
- 21:39Speaker 1: was a whole new writer's room. Bill went on to
- 21:41Speaker 1: do Cougar Town with Courtney Cox. This was kind of
- 21:44Speaker 1: like the testing ground for their you know, yeah, this
- 21:47Speaker 1: is where Bill got to know Courtney and became friends
- 21:49Speaker 1: with her and really liked writing for her. And so
- 21:52Speaker 1: then they went off to make a Cougar Town, which
- 21:55Speaker 1: interestingly enough, also started on ABC, and then when ABC
- 21:58Speaker 1: tried to cancel it, they moved that showed a TBS
- 22:00Speaker 1: and kept it going. So Bill's probably in the Guinness
- 22:05Speaker 1: Book of World Records for shows moved to other networks.
- 22:09Speaker 1: I'm sure Dick Wolf and so I'm sure he's done
- 22:13Speaker 1: it before. He said Dick Wolf, he said Dick and Wolf. Um.
- 22:30Speaker 1: So um, yeah, that's some backstory about this. The opening joke.
- 22:33Speaker 1: It starts right off, which being beard face. Well, I
- 22:37Speaker 1: have a beard, by the way, I was so bummed
- 22:39Speaker 1: about how brown. There's not a single gray hair in
- 22:41Speaker 1: that beard. No, it looks weird. I love it. What
- 22:44Speaker 1: do you mean it looks weird? It looks good. I
- 22:46Speaker 1: look at Kenny Loggins. I was like, look at the glow.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Up Zack haw up right, hair was whipped, the hair
- 22:56Speaker 1: was flying. Zach Zack had some success. He came back
- 23:02Speaker 1: with some money, was like, let's go. Can I got
- 23:07Speaker 1: a fucking fully brown, not one gray hair beard. I
- 23:11Speaker 1: think did Barts that summer? Weren't we in Saint Barts
- 23:16Speaker 1: that whatever, whatever happened, I looked best. You were skinny.
- 23:21Speaker 1: You are like, I don't know if I'll ever look
- 23:25Speaker 1: that good again. Not a single fucking wrinkle under my eye. Dude,
- 23:30Speaker 1: shit man, that was so that was where I peaked.
- 23:33Speaker 1: I peaked with that Kenny Loggin's beard. Peek. You were
- 23:36Speaker 1: good in the T mobile commercial baby, Oh thank you girl.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Your eyes are so blue in that commercially are blue?
- 23:42Speaker 1: That sweater really blue out the blueness in my eye. Pop.
- 23:45Speaker 1: It's like it's like, a hey, that wasn't an accident.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Tell I gotta tell you I picked the blue blue.
- 23:50Speaker 1: I knew you did. I knew you did. Um So anyway,
- 23:54Speaker 1: so I want what I wanted to see is the
- 23:55Speaker 1: very first joke that JD makes won't come across um
- 24:00Speaker 1: in certain places where you're watching it. But if you recall,
- 24:02Speaker 1: he points down to the bottom right hand portion of
- 24:05Speaker 1: the screen and he goes, huh, that's new. That's because
- 24:08Speaker 1: that's where the ABC had a little button, a little
- 24:11Speaker 1: ABC identifier tag on the bottom of the screen, and
- 24:15Speaker 1: then builded a joke on that and then revealed that
- 24:18Speaker 1: in the show, he's he's pointing to I guess the
- 24:22Speaker 1: janitor's watch or the gum that the janitors which watch. Okay,
- 24:27Speaker 1: so the janitor says, oh, you're talking about my watch.
- 24:29Speaker 1: So we do a little joke about that. But that
- 24:31Speaker 1: was so there's some meta jokes in here about moving
- 24:33Speaker 1: to ABC through well, yeah, definitely in the end credits,
- 24:36Speaker 1: of course, which we'll get. Written by the very talented
- 24:41Speaker 1: Angela Nissel and directed by the legendary Michael Spiller. Michael
- 24:46Speaker 1: spill we should I mean, we had him on the
- 24:48Speaker 1: show before, man, but let's just for you guys that
- 24:50Speaker 1: don't remember. Spiller has directed so much television. He directed
- 24:55Speaker 1: Sarah on Firefly Lane, he directed so many episodes of Scrubs.
- 25:00Speaker 1: He's directed, like, you know, so many things. But Sex
- 25:03Speaker 1: in the City is his like was like the beginning
- 25:06Speaker 1: of it all right, right, because he started a cinematographer. Yeah,
- 25:09Speaker 1: he was the DP on it and then moved over
- 25:11Speaker 1: to Some cinematographers aspire to move on from being the
- 25:16Speaker 1: cinematographer to being a director, and some are quite successful,
- 25:19Speaker 1: and Michael was that. He shot I believe most of
- 25:22Speaker 1: Sex in the City and then started directing Sex in
- 25:25Speaker 1: the City and then now he's a very big and
- 25:27Speaker 1: beloved TV director. You know, your path is your path.
- 25:32Speaker 1: And now he's back with Sarah Chalk with Firefly Lane,
- 25:36Speaker 1: although that's over now, I think, right yeah, anyway, because spoilers, Sarah,
- 25:41Speaker 1: you know, spoilers, all right. So the janitor says that
- 25:54Speaker 1: I have a pre pubescent Miami Vice and I say
- 25:57Speaker 1: that I look like I say, there are some who
- 26:00Speaker 1: think guy looked like a young Kenny Loggins and he
- 26:02Speaker 1: says who and I say me, um way too the
- 26:09Speaker 1: danger zone. We know you wanted to sing that. I didn't,
- 26:14Speaker 1: especially not that loud. But um let's let the babies
- 26:16Speaker 1: latch again. Let them suckle and they're latched. If you
- 26:29Speaker 1: get the baby on the on the areola and someone
- 26:32Speaker 1: screams out loud, you're gonna jostle the baby. I wish
- 26:37Speaker 1: I had video of that baby jostle when it happened.
- 26:40Speaker 1: That's so cute. It's all right, So let's just go
- 26:46Speaker 1: through that. We meet all the new interns. Um as
- 26:49Speaker 1: we mentioned ed, is played by his z The niece
- 26:51Speaker 1: is played by Eliza Cooper, and we learned that, um,
- 26:55Speaker 1: I think he has a fun Speaking of T Mobile,
- 26:57Speaker 1: I think he's got like a sidekick because he's I
- 27:00Speaker 1: couldn't tell if it's actually a T Mobile sidekick, but
- 27:01Speaker 1: he's got that flip up style like I wish T
- 27:05Speaker 1: Mobile would bring back that sidekick. That phone was great,
- 27:09Speaker 1: miss listen, I miss am I buy something an old
- 27:12Speaker 1: man when I said, I really still miss a tactile keyboard, No, no,
- 27:16Speaker 1: not at all, I would. I don't know why anyone doesn't.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Why is no one like you can? This is what
- 27:22Speaker 1: you should do, righty? You have an iPhone right and
- 27:24Speaker 1: they don't change the thickness, or maybe they make it
- 27:27Speaker 1: a little bit thicker, but then you pop out your
- 27:29Speaker 1: fucking little keyboard. Why not guys? Come on see it? Also,
- 27:33Speaker 1: if I could just slap a phone shut again, I
- 27:35Speaker 1: would really appreciate. I miss being able to just click
- 27:38Speaker 1: it y. I don't know, but tactile they have, they
- 27:42Speaker 1: have that I phone one of my old flip phones. Here,
- 27:44Speaker 1: an old Motorola. I was playing with it slipping it closed.
- 27:47Speaker 1: We sho but it's dual glass and I don't feel
- 27:50Speaker 1: comfortable if you get a proper snap on that. You
- 27:53Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, right you can't get that click
- 27:55Speaker 1: bob bitch click. Yeah. I just don't understand. And why
- 28:00Speaker 1: no one like the BlackBerry held on as long as
- 28:03Speaker 1: it could because for people who love the tactile keyboard.
- 28:05Speaker 1: But now that it's gone, Why why no one creates
- 28:08Speaker 1: something like this? I don't know. It could even be
- 28:11Speaker 1: an aftermarket like a case of something. Well, i'll tell you,
- 28:15Speaker 1: I'll tell you this. Every they're definitely trying to sell distraction, right,
- 28:19Speaker 1: So there's no way anybody's gonna sell you a phone
- 28:22Speaker 1: where all it does is just flip open unless you
- 28:26Speaker 1: know that's what people that's what you're looking for. Yeah, yeah,
- 28:28Speaker 1: people planning people sell flip phones if you don't want to. Well,
- 28:32Speaker 1: the assistant editor I had on my on my film Awesome,
- 28:36Speaker 1: guy named Elliott Eisman, and he was in his thirties
- 28:40Speaker 1: and head a flip phone, and I always I always
- 28:42Speaker 1: made fun of him because I was like, dude, I
- 28:44Speaker 1: really hate that my textico green to you, and we
- 28:47Speaker 1: would laugh about it. But he's like, I just never
- 28:48Speaker 1: went down the smartphone wormhole. I saw how many how
- 28:53Speaker 1: it took over everyone I know his life, and I
- 28:55Speaker 1: just I just held myself back and never went down
- 28:57Speaker 1: the Wormhall. I was impressed. The only person I know
- 28:59Speaker 1: like that. Yeah, I can't text on that ship though,
- 29:02Speaker 1: that's the only problem. No, no, I know. But if
- 29:04Speaker 1: it's like a sidekick or a or but even the sidekick,
- 29:08Speaker 1: you know, even the said the reason why the sidekick
- 29:10Speaker 1: was so dope was because it did it had a
- 29:12Speaker 1: lot of functions, same thing with the freaking, but it
- 29:16Speaker 1: was just functions. It was just so cool how it
- 29:19Speaker 1: flipped out though. How you It's almost like star Trek kikikie. Yeah,
- 29:24Speaker 1: Paris Hilton made that famous right. That was like at
- 29:26Speaker 1: the height of Paris Hilton's uh well, at the well
- 29:29Speaker 1: T Mobile at the time it was Charles Barkley and
- 29:31Speaker 1: Dwayne Wade. Where the sidekick? Dudes? Oh really, I just
- 29:34Speaker 1: mean that your Paris was everywhere in the news, and
- 29:38Speaker 1: I remember she always had a sidekick bedazzled pink Joy. Yeah,
- 29:42Speaker 1: it was like bedazzled start. You probably knew this. But
- 29:50Speaker 1: you can put a I'm trying to tiptoe off these addicting,
- 29:53Speaker 1: addictive apps, and you can on your phone you can
- 29:55Speaker 1: put a time limit on specific apps. I need this
- 29:59Speaker 1: getting s what what is this? What is this time?
- 30:03Speaker 1: It's built into my phone. Yeah, if you go in
- 30:05Speaker 1: your if you go in um settings, audience, you're gonna
- 30:08Speaker 1: love this. This is gonna help you all. It's gonna
- 30:10Speaker 1: help you wean yourself off crack cocaine. You can go
- 30:13Speaker 1: in and like select Instagram for example. Disclaim disclaimer, This
- 30:18Speaker 1: is not gonna get you off a crack cocaine. No,
- 30:21Speaker 1: I'm saying I don't mean crack cocaine. I mean the
- 30:23Speaker 1: crack cocaine that is social media. So you can you
- 30:26Speaker 1: can say okay Instagram. You can see how much time
- 30:28Speaker 1: you're spending on a day, and then you can go, okay,
- 30:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna that's that's embarrassing. I can't believe I'm spending
- 30:35Speaker 1: that much time on Instagram a day. And then you
- 30:37Speaker 1: can go a set timer for one hour so and
- 30:42Speaker 1: then a second you reached an hour, it locks you
- 30:44Speaker 1: out of the app. That setting is called screen time.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Screen time. But if you got to post something, well
- 30:51Speaker 1: you can you can override it if like for work,
- 30:53Speaker 1: you need to post something obviously, but also schedule your posts,
- 30:56Speaker 1: Like if you're posting for work, just schedule it so
- 30:59Speaker 1: that way you're not timed it to be on the app.
- 31:01Speaker 1: But what if you just found the dopest ham and
- 31:04Speaker 1: cheese sandwich you've ever had in your life and you
- 31:07Speaker 1: want Okay, I didn't know first of all, where's the
- 31:13Speaker 1: ham and cheese sandwich? Because no, I won't one, right,
- 31:15Speaker 1: But any which you can do, just like someone weaning
- 31:17Speaker 1: them off drugs is and I started to do this.
- 31:19Speaker 1: You go, you start like saying an hour, right, and
- 31:22Speaker 1: then you get locked out and you okay, and then
- 31:24Speaker 1: like the next day you do fifty five minutes, and
- 31:26Speaker 1: then next day you fifty and a little by little,
- 31:28Speaker 1: you just you're not not using the app as much anymore.
- 31:31Speaker 1: I like, there you go. The more you know, Dan,
- 31:33Speaker 1: I'll play them, the more you know on music. Okay,
- 31:37Speaker 1: back to the TV show Scrubs. Everyone at this hospital
- 31:40Speaker 1: has been flirting with someone on the web called hot
- 31:44Speaker 1: Girl ninety nine. Okay, we should also we should give
- 31:48Speaker 1: a little bit of a story about these new interns,
- 31:52Speaker 1: because that's what this show is pretty much about. So
- 31:55Speaker 1: Katie is a kiss ass, Denise is has horrible bedside manner. Yes,
- 32:01Speaker 1: Ed which you're talking about right now, tricks a catfish
- 32:08Speaker 1: to come to the hospital, so he gets catfish, and
- 32:11Speaker 1: then catfish is the catfish to come to the hospital. Yes,
- 32:14Speaker 1: and he says, beholding a red balloon, but he's a
- 32:18Speaker 1: Zes's character is playing Hot Girl ninety nine, and he says,
- 32:23Speaker 1: carry a red balloon, so ill know. And then Jad says, wait,
- 32:26Speaker 1: you're hot girl ninety nine. Yeah, he walks away like
- 32:30Speaker 1: he's he's been chatting to her too, And then throughout
- 32:32Speaker 1: the episode as a runner you see lots of men
- 32:35Speaker 1: holding red balloons, including Colonel, Colonel, doctor Yes, and Ted Yes,
- 32:42Speaker 1: Ted's that's a sad story, Sam Lloyd. This is this
- 32:47Speaker 1: is the saddest Sam Lloyd has ever been on the show.
- 32:49Speaker 1: I know it's really dark too, Like you definitely not
- 32:51Speaker 1: make um these jokes in twenty twenty three, No, but
- 32:57Speaker 1: not a bone. But it was little dark. But I
- 33:01Speaker 1: love I Love I Love Jimmy. The over touchy touchy.
- 33:04Speaker 1: How do you say, the over the overly touchy orderly. Yeah,
- 33:07Speaker 1: the overly touchy orderly. I love Jimmy, the over touchily
- 33:11Speaker 1: order Oh my god, when when when Sam on my face?
- 33:13Speaker 1: When when when Sam falls out of his chair and
- 33:18Speaker 1: Ted falls out of his the wheelchair because he was
- 33:20Speaker 1: cold and needed a seat. And then and then he's
- 33:23Speaker 1: on the ground. And then that was the funniest ship
- 33:26Speaker 1: of the episode when tarn is like groping him and
- 33:28Speaker 1: he's like, yeah, okay, he's like, he's just like okay, okay,
- 33:32Speaker 1: slow slowly, smooth, slowly, don't you Yeah, And he's like
- 33:35Speaker 1: do I know you? And he's like, moo, slowly, don't
- 33:38Speaker 1: rush anything. He's okay, breathe on my face. That was
- 33:47Speaker 1: hilarious that that Yeah he was. That was that was
- 33:51Speaker 1: I laughed the hardest at that. Yeah, me too at
- 33:54Speaker 1: that part. So Courtney Cox gets the beautiful beautiful woman
- 33:58Speaker 1: entrance that we always do on Scrubbs. But when then
- 34:00Speaker 1: we do a play on the joke, We joke the
- 34:02Speaker 1: joke by having it go on too long, and Jad's like,
- 34:05Speaker 1: all right, come on, hurry up the sexy music. Yeah,
- 34:08Speaker 1: but also Jady's not attracted to her. Yes, yeah, yes
- 34:11Speaker 1: he yeah, keem like no, but he says he says
- 34:16Speaker 1: because she was. He says something like because she was
- 34:18Speaker 1: a babe, of course I had to do this. And
- 34:20Speaker 1: then the Courtney and Courtney does There's no one who
- 34:24Speaker 1: doesn't think Courtney looks sexy. Let me tell you. In
- 34:28Speaker 1: those videos, those entrance videos, she's a knockout. Let me
- 34:32Speaker 1: tell you something right now, Yes, Donald, Courtney Cox says,
- 34:39Speaker 1: you know on the top ten lists, right and at
- 34:43Speaker 1: least with my top ten lists. Yeah, she's a oh
- 34:48Speaker 1: my gosh. However, all the way back to Family Ties, yeah,
- 34:52Speaker 1: she was the second love interest. Yeah on the show. Uh,
- 34:56Speaker 1: well all the way I go all the way back
- 34:57Speaker 1: to Bruce Bruce Brinstein, right, Um, Kelso's replacement. We said
- 35:02Speaker 1: his Courtney Cox. And Cox doesn't want to smile so
- 35:05Speaker 1: badly because he knows he's gonna hate her because at
- 35:07Speaker 1: the hospital that he defibrillates his head out lat Yeah,
- 35:13Speaker 1: he that's not recommended to defibrillate your head. I would
- 35:17Speaker 1: not do that. I would not do that. I don't
- 35:19Speaker 1: know if that. I don't think that's the right way. No,
- 35:21Speaker 1: you definitely don't want to defibrilate your head. Use that,
- 35:24Speaker 1: Dawn put the music again. Kids, don't defibrillate your head. Um.
- 35:31Speaker 1: But anyway, it gets a smile off of him, and um,
- 35:34Speaker 1: now this is actually this story with Jad being so
- 35:37Speaker 1: nervous not to know what to say to uh courtey
- 35:40Speaker 1: and Cox's character. Um, and they're talking about their babies
- 35:44Speaker 1: and he says, did you deliver vaginally? I did, and
- 35:49Speaker 1: he goes, big girl must have hurt. Now. I just
- 35:55Speaker 1: recently was reminded this is a real story from Matt's harses.
- 35:59Speaker 1: One of our favorite Jeff Zucker, who told you was
- 36:02Speaker 1: the head of NBC, the one that Donald Nuggee um
- 36:07Speaker 1: Matt Tarsus nervously was talking to him and they were
- 36:10Speaker 1: talking about their kids. This all happened in real life,
- 36:13Speaker 1: and Matt was nervous and didn't know what to say.
- 36:15Speaker 1: They were exchanging stories about having a newborn and Matt said,
- 36:19Speaker 1: so did your wife deliver vaginally? What did think about
- 36:27Speaker 1: what was happening on this show as it comes out
- 36:30Speaker 1: as it comes out of your mouth in your life
- 36:36Speaker 1: that like is this just me? Or like there's certain
- 36:38Speaker 1: people like you're just kind of nervous around and you
- 36:41Speaker 1: always say something stupid every if I've seen you in
- 36:47Speaker 1: a movie ever in my life, that's me. You just
- 36:51Speaker 1: can't help I am certain people who I and every
- 36:55Speaker 1: time I'm like, all right, dude, you got this, Like
- 36:57Speaker 1: it's Donald's right, it's often someone I had or someone
- 37:00Speaker 1: I think is really cool, and then what comes out
- 37:03Speaker 1: is just so stupid, like out of a movie. Yeah,
- 37:07Speaker 1: so Donald and I both have this problem, and it's
- 37:09Speaker 1: usually around people we admire. We we both call each
- 37:11Speaker 1: other the next day and cringe and go, dude, I
- 37:14Speaker 1: didn't know what to say. I said something so stupid
- 37:16Speaker 1: to so and so. JD comes in and he's Cox
- 37:20Speaker 1: is ranting about how he finds so many people annoying,
- 37:22Speaker 1: and j D doesn't walk by and goes new freckle.
- 37:26Speaker 1: I mean, Jad is keeping track of Cox's freckles. I'm
- 37:32Speaker 1: gonna say that the Facts of Life jokes, Yeah, I
- 37:39Speaker 1: don't know if anyone gets them. Who are isn't our age?
- 37:41Speaker 1: I thought that ship was hilarious. How she was Joe?
- 37:44Speaker 1: How how how Denise's Joe and Katie's Blair. But then
- 37:50Speaker 1: when when Ed is like, you could call me two D,
- 37:54Speaker 1: I won't think it's racist. That was funny. It was.
- 38:04Speaker 1: But the facts of life joke is a deep cut
- 38:06Speaker 1: for some people, but um for those of you don't know.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Because said Tom said coom, we all loved very much
- 38:11Speaker 1: when we were growing up, and I had such a
- 38:12Speaker 1: crush on Joe, Like who didn't have a crush. I
- 38:15Speaker 1: know some people were Blair people. I was a Joe person.
- 38:18Speaker 1: I was a Joe. I was a Joe and I
- 38:22Speaker 1: and I was a Tutti? Oh my god, was I Tutti?
- 38:25Speaker 1: Who wait? I want to tell you something right now? Man,
- 38:33Speaker 1: oh man, you want to talk about that? That her
- 38:37Speaker 1: mom actually, Chip Fields, kim Field's mom. Kim Field's played Tutti.
- 38:41Speaker 1: Chip Fields little known that when I first moved out
- 38:44Speaker 1: to Los Angeles and I was doing Clueless, a television show,
- 38:48Speaker 1: they hired her to help me learn how to do
- 38:53Speaker 1: sitcom uhd with with my sitcom timing, So she would,
- 39:00Speaker 1: unbeknownst to me, one day I walk in my chairler
- 39:03Speaker 1: and Chip Fields is in there, and this is the
- 39:05Speaker 1: mom from from Good Times who beat Penny Janet Jackson, right,
- 39:10Speaker 1: And so I walk into my trail and she's sitting
- 39:12Speaker 1: in there and I'm like, oh shit, I didn't know.
- 39:17Speaker 1: She was like, they hired me to work with you,
- 39:20Speaker 1: and I was like, oh okay. And she would for
- 39:22Speaker 1: like almost a season she would come to set and
- 39:27Speaker 1: run lines with me. She helped you, Yeah, she helped tremendously.
- 39:31Speaker 1: Like she's a great coach. That that was what she
- 39:33Speaker 1: did at that point. But that's the one time this
- 39:36Speaker 1: wasn't a sitcom, right, No, it wasn't. It was a
- 39:38Speaker 1: multi camera thing. But I was playing the whole thing
- 39:40Speaker 1: like I was trying to play the whole thing like
- 39:42Speaker 1: this and talk. Everything was very natural and when you know, right,
- 39:48Speaker 1: and when you were using a heightened reality of a comedy,
- 39:51Speaker 1: right right, And so I'm playing this and everybody else
- 39:53Speaker 1: is really big and I'm trying this is a it's
- 39:56Speaker 1: a it's a great story man, because like it was
- 39:58Speaker 1: me before I learned how big I could become. Like
- 40:03Speaker 1: now I go so big that directors and ship will
- 40:07Speaker 1: be like, hey, could you just tone it back a
- 40:09Speaker 1: little down? Bring it down? But I mean I saw
- 40:11Speaker 1: that Alicia had a Super Bowl commercial as well with
- 40:15Speaker 1: with Alsa Donovan, both of them from It was very
- 40:18Speaker 1: nice as since she was one of my biggest crushes.
- 40:21Speaker 1: I was very happy to see her back in the
- 40:22Speaker 1: in the yellow outfit amazing too. They both looked beautiful
- 40:27Speaker 1: and Alicia's uh so funny and um I like her
- 40:31Speaker 1: a lot. Yeah. Um okay, So when we take a
- 40:34Speaker 1: break and we come back, um, we're gonna talk about
- 40:36Speaker 1: how um um u Ed that's his name, edwar Ed
- 40:42Speaker 1: wears gloves to sleep so he had soft hands. We'll
- 40:45Speaker 1: be right back, and we're bad. We are back, everybody,
- 40:58Speaker 1: and I'm giving you noises that you all love so much.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Fuck your sound machine. Sound hold on you want that
- 41:10Speaker 1: one ago, I'll give it to you, baby. Hold on.
- 41:13Speaker 1: That's in bank B. You won't believe it. How many
- 41:16Speaker 1: banks post? Too many banks? I need I need to
- 41:19Speaker 1: I really need Daniel to come over and consolidate the banks.
- 41:22Speaker 1: You're like, how's it going over and consolidate banks? Yeah?
- 41:28Speaker 1: I need bank consolidation down. I got you. I need
- 41:31Speaker 1: a tech who could come over and go, bro, you
- 41:33Speaker 1: got too many banks? Shut it. Dog, my name is Zachy. Okay, so, um,
- 41:44Speaker 1: everyone puts their hands in because JD is going to
- 41:47Speaker 1: give the he needs a break from the interns. He says,
- 41:50Speaker 1: hold down the ICU floor. I'm out of here. And
- 41:53Speaker 1: they put their hands in and they say, and I say,
- 41:57Speaker 1: somebody has soft hands, and a ZI says, I sleep
- 42:01Speaker 1: in gloves. And then we put our hands up and
- 42:05Speaker 1: say nobody die. Um, that's our that's our cheer. So
- 42:11Speaker 1: nobody dies, and then um, okay, we should mention also
- 42:15Speaker 1: that Carla and um Elliot's storyline is that Elliot's Carlos
- 42:22Speaker 1: trying to be honest with Elliott and say that she's
- 42:24Speaker 1: whiny and self involved. Well, Elliott is. Elliott notices Katie
- 42:30Speaker 1: and they call her many Elliott, and and Travis calls
- 42:38Speaker 1: her many Elliott. And that's what the whole hospital is saying.
- 42:43Speaker 1: And Elliot's like, wait a second, I'm not self centered.
- 42:45Speaker 1: And Cox is like, actually, you're very self centered. You're
- 42:49Speaker 1: probably the most self centered person I've ever met. And
- 42:54Speaker 1: it strikes a nerve with Elliott and she, you know,
- 42:58Speaker 1: her and Carla go to dinner and at dinner, she
- 43:02Speaker 1: can't believe that Cox said that, and she expects Carlo
- 43:06Speaker 1: to back her up, and instead of backing her up,
- 43:08Speaker 1: Carlo agrees with Cox. Yeah, and that's that's their storyline.
- 43:12Speaker 1: Sometimes sometimes that's the storyline for the whole show. Sometimes
- 43:15Speaker 1: the truth isn't what you want to hear. You know what, right,
- 43:19Speaker 1: and that people that you are close to you and
- 43:22Speaker 1: respect you will you should be open to what they
- 43:25Speaker 1: have to say. Well, yeah, there's a saying like if
- 43:29Speaker 1: enough people tell you you're drunk, sit down, that's what's up.
- 43:35Speaker 1: And so this the episode is Yeah, the theme is
- 43:37Speaker 1: sort of telling, telling hard truth to people. So Carlo
- 43:40Speaker 1: is like, yeah, you are. Look what you did to Keith,
- 43:43Speaker 1: Look what you've Look what's been going on in your life.
- 43:45Speaker 1: You are self involved and Elliott is not having that. Um,
- 43:51Speaker 1: we see that Kelso is all is perched up in
- 43:54Speaker 1: coffee Bucks and that's where he's gonna be every single day.
- 43:57Speaker 1: He's announced he doesn't want to leave the hospital. I
- 43:59Speaker 1: guess he comes there for the drama. He loves to
- 44:02Speaker 1: watch the show, right, That's what we established that in
- 44:06Speaker 1: retirement he likes to sit there and watch the soap
- 44:10Speaker 1: opera of the hospital unfold. Why is Turk in the
- 44:13Speaker 1: ICU all the time? Like, what the fuck? He's a surgeon,
- 44:16Speaker 1: Like why is he always hanging out? And I'm sure
- 44:19Speaker 1: he has to do consults and decide if someone's going
- 44:22Speaker 1: to go to surgery and what have you. I don't know,
- 44:25Speaker 1: I'm a fake doctor. But also it's because it's a
- 44:27Speaker 1: comedy and we like Turk. That is true. That's one
- 44:32Speaker 1: of the main sets. Best See and his wife are
- 44:35Speaker 1: too pe like, yeah, let me just stretch my heels
- 44:37Speaker 1: out over here. Yeah, it's everyone's hospital. Everyone's sort of
- 44:41Speaker 1: based in the ICU because they that's sort of the
- 44:43Speaker 1: main one of the main sets. That's where we do rounds.
- 44:46Speaker 1: What's crazy is that nine point nine percent of shows
- 44:49Speaker 1: you all listeners watch, Um, that would be a set.
- 44:53Speaker 1: But that's a real ICU. I know you'll forget. We
- 44:57Speaker 1: forget sometimes that we were shooting this in an abandoned hospital,
- 45:00Speaker 1: but that was really the ICU of a hospital. I mean, think,
- 45:03Speaker 1: what's crazy as we shot a comedy in there, and
- 45:05Speaker 1: think how much happened in that room. Let me ask
- 45:10Speaker 1: you a question. Can you say you visited every room
- 45:14Speaker 1: in that hospital? No? Yeah, me neither. But I definitely
- 45:18Speaker 1: explored every inch of it because I explored a lot
- 45:21Speaker 1: of it. I never, you know what, when it got
- 45:23Speaker 1: to like the children's ward and like the and like
- 45:27Speaker 1: the Morgan stuff. Yeah, I didn't fuck around. But we
- 45:31Speaker 1: shot in the morgue, but I would never go in
- 45:33Speaker 1: the morgue alone. I remember, like, I remember being down
- 45:35Speaker 1: in the basement alone and I could never go in
- 45:38Speaker 1: the morgue alone, but I would explore. Eventually they turned
- 45:41Speaker 1: some room into the gym down there. Yeah, I think
- 45:44Speaker 1: it was the morgue. That wasn't the Morgan That wasn't
- 45:50Speaker 1: I don't know what that room was, but it was
- 45:51Speaker 1: a big room in the basement they converted to a gym.
- 45:54Speaker 1: That line where Turk says, Carla has spies everywhere, Yeah,
- 46:00Speaker 1: that is my wife, yo, Really she has spies everywhere.
- 46:03Speaker 1: Oh my god, I can't do nothing. I take a
- 46:06Speaker 1: ship in the forest. My wife was like, you know
- 46:08Speaker 1: that squirrel told me about what you did in a bar.
- 46:14Speaker 1: She don't play. She just don't. I don't know, man,
- 46:17Speaker 1: she knows everybody. Man. At one point, like, I forget
- 46:20Speaker 1: this all the time, But at one point, my wife
- 46:22Speaker 1: was really fucking famous, you know what I mean? And
- 46:25Speaker 1: I forget that, and I forget because she was on
- 46:27Speaker 1: the context. Um, she was on the newly Wins right,
- 46:30Speaker 1: is that what it was called? Yes, Jessica Simpson and
- 46:33Speaker 1: her husband had a reality show and Casey was her
- 46:36Speaker 1: best friend. Jessica Simpson and her ex husband Nicola Shay
- 46:39Speaker 1: had a reality show and Casey was her assistant. Did
- 46:43Speaker 1: you watch the show? By the way, I've never seen
- 46:45Speaker 1: the show in March, so you didn't know that she
- 46:47Speaker 1: was reality TV show famous when you had a crush
- 46:50Speaker 1: on her, I had no clue. All I knew was
- 46:52Speaker 1: that she would be at the club, shaking her ass
- 46:54Speaker 1: all the time. I thought she was cute, that's it.
- 46:58Speaker 1: And you must have known she was his best friend
- 47:00Speaker 1: because she was always next right right, and I knew
- 47:03Speaker 1: that she that she was Jessica's best friend. I remember
- 47:07Speaker 1: asking somebody looking at a picture, yo, who is that
- 47:10Speaker 1: and the person going as Casey Cobb, like like, yo,
- 47:13Speaker 1: you don't know who that is, Doug and yeah. So
- 47:16Speaker 1: she was also very popular because she has an amazing personality,
- 47:19Speaker 1: so everybody, she nard a lot of people, right, but
- 47:23Speaker 1: she got spies everywhere because of her connections, like because
- 47:27Speaker 1: of the people that she knew. Back then, I go
- 47:30Speaker 1: to a gym and people are like, I'm not known
- 47:33Speaker 1: as like I tell his joke all the time. I'm
- 47:35Speaker 1: not known as Donald Fayson. Ever, I'm always known as
- 47:39Speaker 1: somebody else's something or the name of a show. So
- 47:43Speaker 1: I was known as clueless. I was known as freaking
- 47:46Speaker 1: Pete to all football players. I'm known as freaking Black
- 47:50Speaker 1: Scrubs to a lot of Scrubs fans, or Turk to
- 47:53Speaker 1: Scrubs fans, Yeah crazy right, And then to like the
- 47:57Speaker 1: Hollywood world and stuff like that, I'm known this Casey's husband,
- 48:01Speaker 1: like that shit is just how it goes, dude. I
- 48:04Speaker 1: walked into a gym and somebody was like, oh, yeah,
- 48:06Speaker 1: you Casey's husband. I was like, what, She's got spies everywhere.
- 48:12Speaker 1: I went to breakfast at Salts Cure for brunch and
- 48:15Speaker 1: a woman came in wearing a UCLA sweatshirt and she
- 48:18Speaker 1: said to me, Oh, I saw your buddy at the
- 48:21Speaker 1: game the other day. I guess you went to a
- 48:23Speaker 1: UCLA game. I did, yeah, yeah, your buddy. Do you
- 48:28Speaker 1: know what they say? You know what they say when
- 48:29Speaker 1: they see me? Oh shit, you know what I just was.
- 48:32Speaker 1: I just saw Zach Braff. They bud. They never say
- 48:36Speaker 1: your buddy. It's always Zach Braf. Dude, you know what
- 48:38Speaker 1: a joke I'm gonna tell the joke. I gotta tell
- 48:41Speaker 1: the joke. You know the joke. So here's a joke. Wow,
- 48:45Speaker 1: No one said joke that many times in one sentence ever.
- 48:50Speaker 1: Cut that down, Daniel, cut the jokes down. I first
- 48:56Speaker 1: moved to Hollywood and I do a show called Clueless,
- 49:00Speaker 1: and no matter where I go, I'm known as Clueless.
- 49:03Speaker 1: Then I get Scrubs and I meet Zach and I'm
- 49:05Speaker 1: taking Zack out to clubs and people would be like,
- 49:07Speaker 1: oh shit, there goes Clueless and clueless, but his friend
- 49:12Speaker 1: Zackt's garden state. Yeah, the no bullshit, Zackt's garden state.
- 49:17Speaker 1: Then it then becomes oh shit, there goes Zach Braff
- 49:22Speaker 1: and look he's with Clueless. That's my fucking life. Yo,
- 49:26Speaker 1: that's how it goes. That's how it is. And now
- 49:30Speaker 1: you said they call you T mobile guy, they do
- 49:32Speaker 1: call me T Look. I'll take it too, bro, Look
- 49:36Speaker 1: I'll take it. Somebody said to me the other day, yo, man,
- 49:39Speaker 1: you look so familiar. Where do I know you from?
- 49:40Speaker 1: I was like, oh, my actor, I was on a
- 49:42Speaker 1: show called Scrubs, and you know I did a movie
- 49:44Speaker 1: called Clueless. And he's like, oh no, that's not a
- 49:47Speaker 1: T Mobile. I came out of a restaurant in in
- 49:53Speaker 1: LA called Craigs, which is a really good time place,
- 49:56Speaker 1: and this paparazzo guy took my picture as I was
- 50:00Speaker 1: getting in my car, and when he was done, he
- 50:02Speaker 1: turns me. He's like, yo, yo, should I really switch
- 50:04Speaker 1: the Team Mobile? Yes? Please continue to let me get paid, sir.
- 50:11Speaker 1: That's funny. Like as though we're like as though I
- 50:16Speaker 1: have like a pamphlet in my pocket. I should start
- 50:19Speaker 1: carrying it around. Yeah, here are the plans, sir. All right.
- 50:24Speaker 1: So I again, JD doesn't know what to say to her,
- 50:28Speaker 1: and so he says he doesn't want to say that
- 50:31Speaker 1: you know she's hot because he's just nervous. And he says,
- 50:34Speaker 1: you look like a well built, sturdy woman. She's like sturdy,
- 50:40Speaker 1: she says, like a shed and he I go like
- 50:43Speaker 1: a like a naughty She goes, I like that, I
- 50:46Speaker 1: go like a naughty structure, structure. And then she asked
- 50:54Speaker 1: the janitor. She finally has a show down with the
- 50:56Speaker 1: janitor because she's not down with the Shenanigans. And she
- 50:59Speaker 1: sees that his name tag says the janitor, and then
- 51:03Speaker 1: she fires him. Yeah, I mean the janitor gets fired,
- 51:07Speaker 1: but he doesn't leave the hospital. No, he has no
- 51:09Speaker 1: intention of leaving. By the way, when when when when
- 51:11Speaker 1: she finally says, catches him later, he's like he's holding
- 51:15Speaker 1: a screwdriver to nothing. He's he's just he's on the
- 51:19Speaker 1: ladder and it's like you know those drop ceiling like
- 51:22Speaker 1: whatever they are, asbestos paneled things that are in hospital.
- 51:26Speaker 1: He's just holding a screwdriver to it, just trying to
- 51:28Speaker 1: look busy, he's not doing it. Um okay. So we
- 51:38Speaker 1: also learned that Keith is really still devastated. I mean
- 51:40Speaker 1: he's he's trying to he's trying to act like he's
- 51:44Speaker 1: not hurt. And then they dropped this line, which was
- 51:47Speaker 1: which was which was good writing. Um. Ted says, oh,
- 51:51Speaker 1: he has to take a he has to take an
- 51:53Speaker 1: anti anxiety pill to be able to talk to Elliott,
- 51:57Speaker 1: and he waits for it to kick in, and he says,
- 52:01Speaker 1: no one wants the person who hurt them to ever
- 52:03Speaker 1: see how badly they've been hurt. Yeah. I had that
- 52:07Speaker 1: reaction too, to Ted drop a knowledge on Sarah. Yeah,
- 52:14Speaker 1: that's a tough one right there. Bro. So, so Keith
- 52:18Speaker 1: is hiding he's pain because he's trying to act normal
- 52:20Speaker 1: and okay, and then we cut to Jimmy, do you
- 52:23Speaker 1: want to let me ask you a question? Is do
- 52:26Speaker 1: you want to see how hurt that person is? Oh?
- 52:29Speaker 1: I don't think anyone If you're the person who's doing
- 52:31Speaker 1: the breaking up, you don't want to see the pain
- 52:33Speaker 1: you're causing anybody. Oh you're saying, what are you saying
- 52:36Speaker 1: the opposite? If no, I'm saying, so nobody wants to
- 52:39Speaker 1: see how nobody wants the person who hurt them to
- 52:43Speaker 1: know how hurt they really are. But if you hurt somebody,
- 52:48Speaker 1: do you want to see how if you and unintentionally
- 52:52Speaker 1: hurt somebody, don't you want to see how you've hurt them?
- 52:55Speaker 1: You know what I mean, so that you can correct that. Well,
- 52:59Speaker 1: I hear you're saying, I don't think anyone wants to
- 53:01Speaker 1: obviously be see that they nobody wants to be the
- 53:05Speaker 1: cause of her. But you're saying, but you're but you're saying,
- 53:07Speaker 1: unless you see they've heard, then you can't Then you
- 53:09Speaker 1: don't have to make it right. Yeah, right right? And
- 53:15Speaker 1: uh and so you she but I mean it's so
- 53:17Speaker 1: hard with with with breakups and couples. I mean, she
- 53:20Speaker 1: they work at the same place. It's so tricky, you know,
- 53:24Speaker 1: because then all of a sudden, all of those things
- 53:25Speaker 1: that you guys used to do now is inappropriate, you
- 53:28Speaker 1: know what I mean, all of a sudden. Also, it's
- 53:30Speaker 1: just it's not only inappropriate, but it's like now, I mean,
- 53:33Speaker 1: it's so cringe. You have to work together and you
- 53:37Speaker 1: have to see each other, then you have to see
- 53:38Speaker 1: that person start dating, and it's in your face Okay,
- 53:43Speaker 1: how about Jimmy the touch overly touchy um, orderly massaging
- 53:47Speaker 1: Courtney's face. That was funny, That was hilarious. It's a
- 53:51Speaker 1: lot of I don't know if I would allow a
- 53:53Speaker 1: lot of the things that the over touchily orderly did.
- 53:57Speaker 1: He couldn't get away with doing. No, no, no, this
- 53:59Speaker 1: was two thousand and what nine Joel eight, Yeah, I
- 54:03Speaker 1: think we're two thousand and nine. Now, yeah, I don't
- 54:05Speaker 1: think he'd be touching my breathe on my face, would
- 54:08Speaker 1: get well, breathe on my face is like post COVID
- 54:11Speaker 1: no one saying that now it gets you fired. But
- 54:14Speaker 1: he's also like fully molesting Ted on the floor. Yes
- 54:19Speaker 1: the case, Ted got a case, but the chief of
- 54:22Speaker 1: the chief of the hospital is probably not gonna have
- 54:26Speaker 1: their face massage by an orderly Well, he got fired
- 54:30Speaker 1: for doing that. Oh he didn't get fired, but he's
- 54:33Speaker 1: he must get rehired. I think everybody. I think the
- 54:36Speaker 1: janitor is gonna well, obviously the janitor spoiler alert, I forgot.
- 54:40Speaker 1: I didn't remember the january getting actually fired. So the
- 54:43Speaker 1: janitor has made a key. She says, give me your keys,
- 54:45Speaker 1: and he holds up one key and she goes where
- 54:48Speaker 1: all the other keys, and he said, I got tired
- 54:50Speaker 1: of holding them all, so I made everything work up
- 54:52Speaker 1: for this one key. And then he starts a motorcycle.
- 54:55Speaker 1: Is that Sasha scycle? Sasha a little blue vespel want
- 55:01Speaker 1: to be this is a real motorcyle. But then the
- 55:03Speaker 1: janitor comes in with the freaking files locked in his suit,
- 55:06Speaker 1: in his briefcase, and he's like, I had the files
- 55:09Speaker 1: for I had the stuff for the patient in my briefcase,
- 55:13Speaker 1: but I locked it in there. And she takes said
- 55:15Speaker 1: key and opens up his briefcase. Everything everything, even a
- 55:20Speaker 1: tiny briefcase, lock, a motorcycle, every door in the hospital.
- 55:23Speaker 1: How did he do that? How did he do that?
- 55:25Speaker 1: Who did how did he get all of those locks
- 55:28Speaker 1: and changed? He well, I guess in the real world
- 55:33Speaker 1: you'd have to change every lock, including everytorcycle. But in
- 55:36Speaker 1: the Scrubs world, he just had to make a magical key.
- 55:39Speaker 1: That's not a fantasy, that is real life. He made
- 55:41Speaker 1: a magical key. So Cox has a heart to heart
- 55:51Speaker 1: with JD about how he's handling his great scene. Yeah,
- 55:55Speaker 1: that was a good scene. I like that scene. Both
- 55:58Speaker 1: seems the Keith and Ellie. It seemed very touching, and
- 56:01Speaker 1: then the Cox and j D seem very touching. Yeah,
- 56:04Speaker 1: thank you. You know, we've been waiting for this moment
- 56:07Speaker 1: because it's bound, it was bound to happen. We were
- 56:10Speaker 1: waiting for this moment, and it finally happens where Cox
- 56:13Speaker 1: looks at JD as a peer and not just as
- 56:17Speaker 1: someone who's beneath him as you know what I mean.
- 56:22Speaker 1: He looks at him as a competent doctor. And it's
- 56:26Speaker 1: not a lesson. The lessons that are coming JD's way
- 56:30Speaker 1: now aren't hard lessons anymore. Now it's more of a
- 56:34Speaker 1: conversation and if JD can and if JD hears it
- 56:38Speaker 1: in the conversation, and there it is. But for the
- 56:40Speaker 1: most part, Cox is no longer going to coddle JD.
- 56:44Speaker 1: And that's what That's what that scene meant to me,
- 56:46Speaker 1: you know what I mean, I'm not gonna fucking do
- 56:48Speaker 1: all of that other shit that you you want, the
- 56:50Speaker 1: hard truth that's not coming anymore. What's coming your way
- 56:53Speaker 1: is motherfucker. I'm scared too. I'm over to ship too.
- 56:56Speaker 1: This is what life is though, you know what I mean.
- 57:00Speaker 1: We were all trying to be find something new and
- 57:02Speaker 1: I think these new actors brought something fun and new,
- 57:04Speaker 1: and and Courtney brought something fun and new, and you
- 57:07Speaker 1: know it was it was Z's definitely. To keep in mind,
- 57:10Speaker 1: we were all like, it wasn't like we're on a
- 57:12Speaker 1: back lot where where you're gonna mingle and meet new people.
- 57:15Speaker 1: And you know, we we were all in this abandoned
- 57:18Speaker 1: the hospital in the valley. Yeah, so we met no
- 57:22Speaker 1: one like we would see no one, no one, no,
- 57:26Speaker 1: because who the hell would visit I mean fans aside,
- 57:29Speaker 1: like nobody, nobody's when you're on a back lot, you
- 57:31Speaker 1: like run into other casts, you meet other crews. When
- 57:34Speaker 1: you're in an abandon hospital, like, no one comes to
- 57:36Speaker 1: visit you at all. The executives didn't even come to visitors, no,
- 57:41Speaker 1: Like why would they want to come to an abandoned hospital.
- 57:44Speaker 1: But I mean, don't get it twisted. I realized then
- 57:48Speaker 1: and realized now, But I realized then how lucky I
- 57:51Speaker 1: was to be on a television show. But at this
- 57:54Speaker 1: point I remember being like burnt, Yeah, you know what
- 57:57Speaker 1: I mean. And again you start to a question like
- 57:59Speaker 1: I don't want to you want to come out on top,
- 58:02Speaker 1: You don't want to, like you don't want to like
- 58:04Speaker 1: drive it into the ground, or you're like, oof, is
- 58:07Speaker 1: we're jumping the shark kind of Fonzi stuff. You know,
- 58:09Speaker 1: Fawnzi jumping the shark on his skis on this no motorcycle. No,
- 58:14Speaker 1: he was water skiing, was water skiing. That's right, he
- 58:17Speaker 1: jumped over. You can't jump. I guess you could jump
- 58:19Speaker 1: a shark on a motorcycle, but you'd have to didn't
- 58:21Speaker 1: he you have I don't know, I don't know, but Fonzi, um,
- 58:25Speaker 1: it was wearing a leather jacket. Um when he was
- 58:28Speaker 1: on his water skis. I don't know if you know that.
- 58:30Speaker 1: It's also the do you know that trivia that when
- 58:34Speaker 1: Fonzi does jump the shark in Happy Days, he's still
- 58:37Speaker 1: wearing his Fawnzi leather jacket. That's how popular that show was.
- 58:42Speaker 1: That show was so popular that at its demise, when
- 58:46Speaker 1: it when it finally reached its worst moment, people were
- 58:52Speaker 1: still like it jumped the shark. Well, well, no, jump
- 58:57Speaker 1: the shark didn't become a term until much later. But
- 58:59Speaker 1: I remember for kids it was I didn't I didn't
- 59:01Speaker 1: know anything about something becoming stale. I was like, Fonzi's
- 59:04Speaker 1: gonna jump a shark. Yeah, oh, no doubt, no doubt,
- 59:07Speaker 1: I'm no doubt he's so cool shit, no doubt. But
- 59:12Speaker 1: but it's it's it's Is it not an a dictionary?
- 59:16Speaker 1: It should be if it's not. No, it became someone
- 59:19Speaker 1: someone I forgot. I don't know the genesis of it, Daniel,
- 59:22Speaker 1: maybe you do. But someone eventually said, uh, called it
- 59:25Speaker 1: like made it made it a term for when I
- 59:28Speaker 1: show is has reached its limit and now it's gone
- 59:30Speaker 1: beyond what how great it used to be? Yeah, it
- 59:32Speaker 1: peaked and now you're on your down and so and
- 59:35Speaker 1: and and the example of Fawnsie jumping a shark on
- 59:39Speaker 1: Water's keys was like what a leather jacket? Arty, Yes, Dane,
- 59:42Speaker 1: go ahead, got an answer for you. Yeah. The idiom
- 59:45Speaker 1: jumping the shark was coined in nineteen eighty five by
- 59:47Speaker 1: John Hine in response to the nineteen seventy seven episode
- 59:51Speaker 1: of Happy Days in which Fonzie jumps a shark. Ye.
- 59:54Speaker 1: Happy Days was nineteen seventy seven. I don't know. We
- 59:58Speaker 1: were watching rerun. We were watching rerun. Bro's true for
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: a lot of shows we loved. There's a lot of
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: shows that we loved growing up like that. I thought
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: were like being shot at the time, but we were
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: watching the syndicated reruns. Well, I knew The Honeymooners was
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: an old show. No Honeymoons, New Beaver. And I'm not
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: talking about the Honeymooners, dude, I'm talking about like stuff
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: like Threes Company that those were reruns. We won't we won't.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: You know, as a kid, I thought those were being
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: those were new. All right, let's wrap it up. The
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: janitor is fired. We learned there's a new janitor hired
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: who couldn't be a sweeter old man. He's just a
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: nice let me know if I can help you. Yeah,
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: and then we have in credits. Oh wait, before we
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: get to that with just the final thing that we
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: learned that um Courtney Cox's character is in fact just
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: a bit a stereotypical hospital executive. She wants all the
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: money she can get out of this patients. Okay, I'm
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: not exactly sure what that reference is, but um, there
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: you go. She's trying to get all the money she
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: can out of him. And then, yes, as Donald said,
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: there's a new thing on ABC. Instead of them playing
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: the theme music and going through stills of funny stills
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: from that episode, there's now like a little coda, a
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: little tiny scene over the credits, and in this particular
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: was really weird. And this one we talk about doctor Shalube.
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: We talk about the Nielsen's and they're all plays on
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: like Monk is doctor Shalub, because yeah, Shalub would win
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: every award, Emmy every year he would win the Emmy.
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: And then the Nielsen's little I mean, we talk talk
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: about it all the time on the podcast, but Scrubs
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: was never a big hit. Yeah, don't know what the
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: Nielsen's are. It's the rating system and helps you extrapolate
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: how many people are watching the show. And so we
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: do a joke like even though the Nielsen's seemed to differ,
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: and then we cut to a couple that's named the
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: Nielsen's and they and they disapprove of They're shaking their heads.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: They're like, we don't like you guys. Um. Two things
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: I learned on Scrubs wicky about this um that there's
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: a moment where Sarah flashes uh in a bar, a flashback,
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: and and she says, Oh, what's the worst that can happen?
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: And then we see that it's made it to a
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: DVD it's like it's like a Girl's Gone Wild type
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: flashing DVD. And I learned on scrubs Wiki that, um,
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: the stars that are over Sarah's bress, ABC demanded that
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: they be made bigger, and when Sarah heard that, she
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: claimed that it made her very happy that she apparently
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: tells that story on the DVD. And also a little
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: interesting a tributae because of Courtney Cox's schedule, all of
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: the scenes involving her in the show, We're shot towards
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: the end of season eight, so we we shot all
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: the episodes, um, all the stuff that didn't involve Courtney Cox,
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: and then saved Courtney Cox scenes for that. How did
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: we do that? So she never has scenes with A
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: Z's Then why do you say that because A Z's
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: only lasts about three episodes on this on the show
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: this year. Oh that might that might be true. I
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: don't know. Well, well we'll see, but I know that
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: I just read that, and I remember that are being
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: a thing with Courtney, like she wasn't available until later,
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: So we just we just would shoot everything except Courtney scenes,
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: and then we circled back and picked up Courtney stuff.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: So there you go. There's the first episode of season eight. Everybody, Um,
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: I hope you enjoyed that. Joel, do we have some
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: submissions for today? Yeah, we can do some submissions, okay,
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: and we're gonna take a break, and when we come back,
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: we are going to listen to some submissions for new
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: podcast ideas, which we need and a new TV show
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: idea will be right back after these fine words. You're bad.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: Go ahead, fuck your sound effects machine. Why I gotta be,
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: Why I gotta be so a gro with it? Zach
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: and Donald Gay newlyweds in house arrest all right, it's
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: time to hear something that could possibly beat that Zach
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: and Donald Gay newlyweds in house arrests. I don't I
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: don't know how you can beat that. Yeah, no chat
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: gebet today. I have no idea if people are enjoying
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: that on Daniel and Joel. Do you know if anyone
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: likes those things. I've seen a couple of comments being
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: like very positive, but let us know, guys, also if
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: you have suggestions for what we should put into the
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: chat box that you would like to hear more. Yeah,
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: I'm not. I'm not on Twitter anymore, but Joel and
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: Daniel are and so let them know. If you like
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: the chat GEBT thing, Um, we want to serve you.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: I thought Sarah was fabulous last week. So yeah, I
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: think the chat cheek and chee thing is funny and
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: I I usually finds a good barometer if if we
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: laugh at it, then other people will laugh at it.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: So I don't know. We can we can, We'll see what,
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: We'll see what people say. Daniel will look on, Daniel
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: will look on the reddits and the twitters. I still
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: laugh at Zack and Donald the gay Newlywoods and House Arrest. Yeah,
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: I don't know how to beat that. But we're not
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: allowed to play gay. We're not allowed to play gay Donald.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Oh those days are over. Well, some people
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: are allowed to play gay. It's confusing, but I'm okay.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: But it's hold on. Yeah, so if you're not gay anymore,
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: you cannot play gay in a movie. Well, there's a
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: debate about that. Let's wait. Let a member of the
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: queer community way in. But there is a debate. I've
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: spoken to some gay show creators who who side on
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: the other side of some of the gay community and
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: say that they don't believe in that. But Joel as
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: a queer representative, can you tell Donald? The debate? Sure.
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: So the debate is that frequently, particularly people who present
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: is gay just as they show up, have difficulty getting
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: cast outside of like stereotypical gay roles, even if they
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: have the range right. So the thought, and I think
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: it's a beautiful thought, is well, let's leave gay roles
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: to gay people. To me, the issue with that is
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: sexuality is not a concrete thing. People fluctuate. Some people
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: learn about their queerness through their art and performing and
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: trying different things, And so to leave out people who
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: are not currently out of the closet, I think limits
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: what the queer experience can look like on screen, and
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: I think that's dangerous. What I really like is what
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: Craig Mazen did and the last of us in it.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: You know, you have one actor who's gay and out
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: and one actor who's straight and married to a woman.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: But Craig major that the director was gay and that
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: the writer was gay, and that there were additional gay
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: people on the crew. And he also went to a
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: bunch of gay people to read the scripts before they
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: went into production, and by doing that he allowed a
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: full queer experience on screen without you know, having anyone
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: default to you know, stereotypical lists or you know, caddy
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: fights or whatever. It felt like an authentic relationship, um
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: my stances. If you can involve as many queer people
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: as possible, and if you have an actor who respects
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: the queer community, then I don't see a problem with
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: expanding beyond that in your casting right here. But there's
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: there's there's plenty of people as well, said Joel. I
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: do we should mention there's there's there are plenty of
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: queer people I believe who disagree with you. That is correct? Yeah,
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: all right, Joel, what do you have for us? Okay, Well,
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: before you get into it, I want to make sure
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: I'll give one person a shout out. Donald and I
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: had the privilege of speaking to a gentleman who donated
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: to an amazing cause that wounded warriors that Jake Tapper does.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: Jake Tapper them seeing an anchor man does a charity
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: every year for wounded warriors, and one of the prizes
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: an auction off, is a thirty minute FaceTime with Donald
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: and I, which which was fun because it went for
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: it went for twenty million dollars. People, that's how famous.
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: That's how famous we are. I don't know how much
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: it went for, but I want to give a shout
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: out to Ari named Moten, who's a radiologist who gave
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: the donation to a wounded warriors and Donald and I
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: had an awesome thirty minute chat with him and it
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: was a lot of fun. He listened to the podcast
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: he's listening right now. And he also had he had
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: a good, really funny idea kind of like it was
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: almost like a multiverse idea of scrubs, like saying, taking
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: the characters and putting them into and in his particular pitch,
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: it was the world of theater, like keeping the same
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: relationships between the characters, but make them all like they're
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: they're they're putting on a production of Doctor Acula. Right.
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: He was like he was like he was like put
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: them in different and then we turned it into something
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: like completely different where it was like, look, what if
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: they're characters, they're always the same people from the show.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Now they're playing in different scenarios, so like like like um,
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: like I'm like um quantum leap. Right, So instead of
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: a hospital, it's a it's a law firm or a
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: police station one episode, and they're never the same people,
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: but they're always in this relationships. The relationships are the same.
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: It's almost like Quantum Leap, Quantum Leap meets what was
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: the Marvel TV show and then it goes to Yeah,
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: it's almost like it's almost like juand Division meets Quantum Leap,
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: where the characters are all the same, they have all
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: the same relationships, but they're jumping between different television styles.
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: So one time we're on we're on a spaceship and
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: Cox is like the tough captain and kelso you know,
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: owns the ship and and you know, you know that
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: that kind of thing, you know what I'm saying, And
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: then you could jump and we're in a sitcom, and
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: then it could jump and we're in like a legal drama.
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: It was amazing. It was a really cool idea. That's
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: what Donald i off of Ari's idea. So that was fun.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Love it. So now we're gonna hear somebody else's idea. Yes,
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: let's hear it. Zack and Donald a gay newlywed in
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: house Arrest Perfection. This is Room Caleb, Hello, Zack, Donald,
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: Joel and Twitch dot TV slash DJ Underscore Danel Caleb
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: calling from street or Louisiana, long time, first time. Unfortunately
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: I don't have an Australian accent, so I feel like
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: I gotta know I'm working against the current here. But
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: I've listened every episode you guys have had so far,
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: and I gotta tell you keeps me happy, keeps me entertained,
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: keeps me laughing, you know, gets me through my workouts
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: and my runs. And I'm really sad to hear you
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: guys are coming to the end of the episodes for Scrubs.
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: But I'm really excited about the new direction you guys
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: are thinking about taking, and I really want to suggest
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: a new idea. It's a baking podcast. Donald's mentioned a
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: couple of times that he's been really into baking lately,
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: talking about his pies and some other stuff he's made.
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: The best part of this idea is the name, and
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: that's bakerd Tart. Can go buy bakerd Tart because guy,
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: I feel like he's started with that can bring up
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: celebrity chefs. Even I know there's a lot of shows
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: about baking, like The Great British Bake Off and Cake Boss,
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: I Love Cupcake Wars, and probably a bunch of other
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: ones that I'm forgetting right now, but uh, no podcast
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: that I know of, you guys can be you're participating
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: God's lettuce. Maybe you know, make it older, more interesting
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: category best dish overall, and then best dish while partaking
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: in God's Lettuce. I don't know something like that. Yeah,
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: happy to hear from you guys. Love that you guys
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: are continuing the podcast and thinking about bringing it forward
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: even beyond Scrubs. Thanks, I hope all as well. Thank you.
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: Out shout out Caleb from I Think Caleb. I think
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: Caleb may have been high when he came up with you.
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: You think so, Baer. I feel like he came up
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: with baker Tart and then worked his way backwards into
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: a baking show. He was like Donald's ears perked up
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: when he said baking show, thinking it was gonna be
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: about getting baked. Well, he said baking show and God's
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: let us in the same fucking sentenced and me had
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: a hello. He had me right then and there. I love.
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: I love to bake. I love I don't necessarily watch
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: baking shows. That's too long. I prefer like the TikTok's
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: or the Instagram posts that you know, Yeah, that's what
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: the kids are calling it, right, TikTok? Are you on TikTok? Donald? No?
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: I didn't think so. But anyway, I like to watch, like,
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: you know, there's this one guy who's like, let's do
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: some cooking, and then there's this other guy who's like,
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: uh and as always now and I like him. Uh,
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: there's there's other dude. There's like, there's a couple of
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: people that are out there that do Instagram cooking. And
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: if you follow the recipe because they give it to
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: you really well, you can make it and it works
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: and my kids eat it. Um. And that's really how
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: I learned to cook, by watching videos on Instagram or
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: on the thing that they called the TikTok. Well, um,
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: I'm not really interested in baking, Caleb. Thank you for
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: your suggestion. Don't cook. I don't want them to do
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: a podcast cooking, but you seem like we don't cook.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: I don't cook. But you seem like a really nice fellow.
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: And and thank you for your suggestion. Joelle, what so
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: it's not even it's the white board. Let's put it
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: that way. All right, Let's move on, Joel, what is
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: the idea for a TV show for Donald and I
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: here we go. This is from Zach. Oh we like
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: them already. Oh Zach with a self submission. Hey, Joel, Daniel, Donald,
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: and Zach. My name is also Zach, and I have
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: a pitch for a TV show for Zack and Donald.
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: Go ahead, homey Spamoni too, spaghetti and lots of balls.
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: I don't do that. I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Donald is
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: a very famous, successful actor working on a big time project,
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: maybe a film in La or a show on Broadway.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: In the middle of filming or rehearsing for this project,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: Donald does something to get himself canceled. Nothing terrible or egregious,
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: but maybe something absurd, like someone filmed him gambling on
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: a fart and shitting his pants during a rehearsal that
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: goes viral and it attracts some negative attention to the
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: project and its producers, which gets him fired after that anymore,
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: and then his work drives up, his life falls apart,
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: and he's forced to move in with a relative, maybe
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: a mom or a sister or a cousin back home
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: in small town little Lass, Colorado. A few weeks of
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: sulking around the relative's house drives his host crazy and
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: they encourage him to get out and look for work.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: He notices a flyer for a local community theater production
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: of something and scoffs at first, but once encouraged to
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: check it out, he recalls his early career fondly, before
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: the money and attention, when it was about fun and art.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: He decides to check it out the theater, or more
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: probably a high school gym. He meets the local community
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: theater director and egotistical, self important tyrants played by Zach.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: Perhaps part of the reason Zach's character is so arrogant
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: is because he has what he thinks is an ace
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: up as sleeve, an authentic British actor hey Brett Goldstein.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: Unable to say no to having a big name in
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: his production, Zach casts Donald, but the two constantly butt heads.
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: Donald has a very clear inside knowledge about acting and
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: directing that small time Zach cannot allow his ego to appreciate. Meanwhile,
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: Zach whips the rest of the local actors, all of
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: whom are terrified of his authoritarian style of directing, its
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: ridiculous acting exercises and warm ups and so on. Conflict
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: between Zack and Donald ensues. They eventually find common ground
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: in a very heartfelt, scrubsy and way and finally put
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: on a performance that they're excited about. The play opens
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: up for the local community theater goers in Little Lass,
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: It's awful. The audience is not receptive. The production choices
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: are weird and silly and ridiculous. People hate it. But
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: for Zack and Donald and the rest of the casting crew,
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: it's a formative experience in getting back in touch with
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: the heart that goes into theater. And I've been connecting
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: with people again. Let me see if I can call
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: back my guy, Stephen Brandon, Zack and Donald our arrival
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: Thespians in a little last play, looking to have some
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: white or dreams come true. I've always wanted to work
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: in a writer and breaking stories. So say the word
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: and I'll draft the manuscript for this pilot right now.
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: It would be a dream come true to learn that
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: craft from Bill and from Brett Goldstein. I'm just putting
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: that out there into the universe, shooting my shot. I
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: love every thing that y'all do, and I can't wait
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: for what you do next. Thanks for listening. Well that
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: was great, really well done. Well, I gotta say what's
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: his name? Sorry? Zack Oh yeah, how can I forget that?
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: Zach very well presented so for someone who has aspirations
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: of getting into the business. I thought you did a
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: really good job. I thought was a good quick pitch.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: I like that. I'm the star of this one too.
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: I don't like that my character is an asshole that
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: I already hate. Well, no, but we get together at
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: the end and we make something special, at least to us.
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: It's like high school musical meets like fame. No, it
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: sounds like a Goffman. Yeah. Yeah, it sounds like the
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: Mighty Ducks too. Like you know what I mean, say
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: the area I like, I like, I would like I
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: like the area of you know, kind of like Ari's
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: idea that we're we switched to like doing a play,
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: like the world is of like putting, like you know,
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: behind the scenes of putting on something. I like that area. Um,
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: that's funny for for Donald and I to do. Um.
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: I think the world of small time theater hasn't really
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: been lampooned better than Goffman. Um. That's probably the best
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: version of it ever. Yeah, it's pretty hard to beat Goffman.
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: But we wouldn't be that tone. We would That's sort
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: of a mockumentary. We wouldn't we wouldn't be that tone.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: But I don't know. I'm open to UM. I think
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: I don't know. It was also good living in Oblivion
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: that it was amazing, love living BLI that's spoofing the
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: world of making independent movies. Shout out Tom Till. If
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: you like UM indies and you like behind the scenes stuff,
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: watch Living in Oblivion. It's it's the it's the funniest
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: spoof of how hard it is to make an independent movie.
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: Do we have a lockup? Do we have a real lockup?
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: That ever? I use that on everything. Look, dude, but
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: we've been doing scrubs. I would say that, shit, do
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: we have a lock up? Because sometimes the lock up fails?
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: Do we have a real lock up? And then every
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: single morning they put the mic under him, he'd go,
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: sound this is my lavel. Um all right, everybody, thank
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: you so much. That's uh. We're off to a start
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: with season eight. We appreciate you. We thank you for listening. UM.
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: If you haven't yet, please check out the trailer for
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: a Good Person. It's on the YouTube's UM coming out
