Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_02: So I wanted to circle back to this for a minute too because we've been, you know, uh big into the passing of Dolly and covering a couple other things.
- 0:07SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna bring it back for a minute here.
- 0:09SPEAKER_02: This is so great.
- 0:11SPEAKER_02: Dolly Parton's final public appearance was on June 24th, believe it or not.
- 0:15SPEAKER_02: And like I said, it was in the statement yesterday.
- 0:18SPEAKER_02: She had a very brief uh battle with cancer.
- 0:21SPEAKER_02: She looked great in June.
- 0:22SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 0:23SPEAKER_02: And here she is at a ribbon cutting ceremony.
- 0:25SPEAKER_02: This is the most Dolly thing.
- 0:27SPEAKER_02: She was in everything.
- 0:28SPEAKER_02: She was at her Tennessee travel stop.
- 0:31SPEAKER_02: Yes, she is part owner of a new Tennessee travel stop.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: We've talked about this because we said this is basically going to be the competition for Bucky.
- 0:40SPEAKER_02: Oh, yes.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: I completely forgot she was gonna do this.
- 0:43SPEAKER_02: I really hope that they end up calling it Twin Peaks.
- 0:47SPEAKER_02: Okay, I have to tell the joke yesterday after you came in and uh and told TJ and me.
- 0:52SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 0:53SPEAKER_02: And TJ is notorious for one-liners.
- 0:55SPEAKER_02: Like, I'm not gonna lie.
- 0:56SPEAKER_02: He's got some amazing one-liners, our coworker.
- 0:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 0:59SPEAKER_02: And you had came in.
- 1:00SPEAKER_02: We were talking about something completely different.
- 1:01SPEAKER_02: You said, Dolly Parton just died.
- 1:04SPEAKER_02: And again, it was that, oh my God.
- 1:07SPEAKER_02: You know, like, I mean, I didn't really have more at that exact moment, but oh my god.
- 1:11SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: TJ turns to me and he goes, Man, the world lost a good pair today.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: I'm like, you know, and and Dolly would have actually probably laughed at that.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: That goes with the text that was that was in earlier from 1132 about when her friend met Dolly, and Dolly said, Us big titted girls gotta stick together.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: Well, it's so Dolly.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: Right, exactly.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: That's where you go, she's like so genuine, but so real and so funny.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: Like she just was actually everything.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: Here's her uh just a clip of her last appearance on June 24th.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Anyway, I wanted to welcome all of you and say thank you for coming.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: We're very excited about our truck stop, the Tennessee and Travel Stop.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Makes me laugh.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Some might be wondering why I wanted a truck stop.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: Well, I couldn't leave it to Beavers.
- 2:05SPEAKER_02: That's awesome!
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: So I want to say this.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: I think the truck stop thing makes sense for her, and here's why.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: She did so much touring growing up.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: And because the first time, I don't know if you know this, but I'm gonna have you guess.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: What is the age she first appeared on Grand Old Opry?
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: Oh, she was young.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: Was she 16?
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: Younger.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: Oh 12?
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: 13.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: Oh, wow.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: Which means she had to build her career.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: Oh, she is the but she's the best example of building a career.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: Building an empire.
- 2:37SPEAKER_02: Growing up.
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: You're doing it the right way, by the way.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: So when you're touring, and we heard that story just a few minutes ago about how she was in Hornell.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: So when you're growing up, building your empire, you're stopping at truck stops all the time, gas stations.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: So I think it just makes sense that that she's doing that business venture.
- 2:54SPEAKER_02: I think it or did, yeah.
- 2:55SPEAKER_02: No, no, that it'll do quite well.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: Uh they're they're probably gonna have booming business for quite a period of time.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: I can't wait to see the merch.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm wearing my Dolly t shirt today, but what else are they gonna?
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: Are they gonna have like uh some there's gotta be like bumper stickers that say like honk hold on a second.
- 3:13SPEAKER_02: Honk for Dolly.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, or like double honks.
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: Give us two honks?
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, something, something like that.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: I you know, give me a minute to think of a bumper sticker.
- 3:21SPEAKER_02: I actually would put that one on my car.
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: Give me two honks for Dolly.
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
