- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take, where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's. Kyle.
- 0:08Corwin and Nate Reyes, it all starts right now.
- 0:14Who welcome back to the three O take presented by SeatGeek.
- 0:19This is episode 482. I'll be your host Kyle Corden.
- 0:21I'm here with my Co host Nate Reyes.
- 0:27Nate. Yep, still here.
- 0:34It's commendable. It's commendable the fact that
- 0:37you are showing up, the fact that you are showing up despite
- 0:46what we've had to witness the last few nights.
- 0:53It's honest. It's honestly just embarrassing.
- 0:55Like I if, if you want like full on, full truth, honesty, I'm I'm
- 1:06going to root for them every game for my entire life.
- 1:10I'm always going to cheer for them.
- 1:13But like, it's I knew that this side of this Yankee team was was
- 1:25present. I knew that this was in them.
- 1:30And it's like it's just happening at like the worst part
- 1:35of the season and it's embarrassing.
- 1:41Like I'm I'm literally embarrassed.
- 1:44I I'll be honest with you. It's, it's really like tip of
- 1:52the cap to the Dodgers for what they've been able to do.
- 1:54But I, I, it's so hard for me to even acknowledge like what
- 1:59they've been able to do well because it's so over.
- 2:02It's been so overshadowed by how poorly the Yankees have played.
- 2:10Yeah. And I'm not going to sit there
- 2:12and say that the Dodgers are not winning this series.
- 2:16Yeah, it's. A heck of a lot easier to sit
- 2:19here and say, well, the Yankees are losing this series.
- 2:22Yeah, it's just lifeless, dude. Like it's, I don't, I don't
- 2:32know, man, Like it. I feel like, I feel like I'm
- 2:40going to wake up in a week and Soto is going to be a met and
- 2:43it's just going to be like that, that I feel.
- 2:51Dude, I just, I don't know if the like there's a window here,
- 2:55you know what I mean? Like I don't know if a 33 year
- 2:57old Judge, a 34 year old Stanton, like I, I don't know
- 3:04what this is. I don't know if this is like the
- 3:07start of some. I don't, I don't think it is.
- 3:11I feel like they're lucky to be here.
- 3:15I feel like it was laid out for them to get to the World Series.
- 3:20And it's like, yeah, we can talk about how dominant the Dodgers
- 3:25are and like, we got their bee bullpen tonight and Crochet is
- 3:32the one closing it down. Kopec.
- 3:36Crochet Kopec. Yeah, I'm sorry, but like, you
- 3:39get what I'm saying. Like you're not, you're not even
- 3:41getting, like, you aren't even getting like the best of them.
- 3:48Well, Tani hasn't really done anything this series.
- 3:52Like you're, you're they're just really, really good.
- 3:58I think they're better than the Yankees.
- 4:01Obviously, it's a lot worse if the Yankees aren't doing
- 4:07anything. I mean, be, be real with me
- 4:12here. I I know you've been down and
- 4:16out on this team for the last few nights, but you had to at
- 4:20least you had to expect that they were going to at least do
- 4:23something at home. I did.
- 4:27I mean, some I'm not even count and we'll get to it obviously,
- 4:31but I'm not even counting that Verdugo home run.
- 4:33I mean, it was a four run game, but that's about as much of A
- 4:36garbage time home run as you can possibly have in that situation.
- 4:41So I'm not even, but it may as well have been a shutout.
- 4:43That was that was essentially a shutout what we just witnessed.
- 4:46And for them to come. I mean, we we've talked about it
- 4:53and he seems to have figured it out these last few starts, But I
- 4:56I just felt like there was an opportunity there to pounce on
- 4:59Walker Buehler at home and he goes 5 scoreless.
- 5:10Like it makes sense on paper. This is what I'm saying is that
- 5:12like I, this team does this, they've done this throughout the
- 5:22year. And I, I don't mean any
- 5:27disrespect to the Royals in the Guardians, but that that's not
- 5:34what that's, that's not the true test to like figure yourself
- 5:41out. I felt like they stumbled to the
- 5:45finish line, but the Orioles just stumbled more.
- 5:51So they won the division. I felt like they had a couple a
- 5:57couple good moments in the DS and in the CS, but in reality,
- 6:05like, yeah, they're better than those teams.
- 6:10And then you get to this moment where you're like, you expected
- 6:17that level of an opponent out of the Dodgers, and this is one of
- 6:22the greatest teams ever put together.
- 6:25I genuinely think this is one of the greatest rosters baseball
- 6:31has ever seen. And they're not doing anything.
- 6:37No one's doing anything. Boone just rolls out the same
- 6:43lineup. He said, he said, I mean,
- 6:46everybody was calling for him to make just a slight change after
- 6:51Game 2. Because you know, that's, that's
- 6:54ultimately when it, when you, when you drop the 1st 2, that's
- 6:57ultimately your chance to do anything.
- 6:59Because if you drop game three, history tells you it's over.
- 7:03So Boone make a change, everybody, all, all, all ages,
- 7:10all rooting interests. They were saying, hey, we're
- 7:13watching this series. Whether we not we have a dog in
- 7:15the fight or not, we at least want to see some some
- 7:18competitive baseball. So Boone maybe make a change.
- 7:22He said, no, let's run it back. And the thing that the thing
- 7:26that cracks me up is they, they were talking about Austin,
- 7:31Austin Wells tonight getting a getting a, a pinch hit.
- 7:35And they're they're talking about Boone's philosophy with
- 7:37that or, or mindset with that. And he said, you know, I just
- 7:41feel like his moments right there.
- 7:42He said the same thing about Aaron Judge.
- 7:46He says the same thing over and over again about everybody
- 7:48throughout the year. It's just copy and paste.
- 7:51Right. And my, my, my thing with Judge,
- 7:54it's like, OK, Boone, let's, let's keep let's keep judging
- 7:58the three hole. And maybe if he heats it up, if
- 8:01he heats things up over the next couple weeks, then we'll be
- 8:03right. We'll be right back where we
- 8:05want to be. Oh wait, you can't because you
- 8:09have a single game left. I felt like this game was such a
- 8:15must win because if you lose this game, you have to pitch
- 8:21Garrett Cole tomorrow. You have to, but don't care
- 8:28about normal rest. You're down 3.
- 8:30Nothing. You have to throw Gerrit Cole,
- 8:32so why not piggyback Louise Heel off of Clark Schmidt?
- 8:38The second Clark Schmidt starts getting into trouble, there's
- 8:41your second starter. Put him in because if you win
- 8:46that game, great. And then it in my mind, if you
- 8:50win a game at home and then you followed up with Garrett Cole
- 8:53and you win another game and you even this series up, that
- 8:57changes everything. But instead it's Clark Schmidt,
- 9:043 1/3, three and 2/3 bullpen. And again, like, I guess we can
- 9:15give some credit to the bullpen for keeping it manageable and
- 9:19hoping that this offense would wake up at some point.
- 9:24But like, Oh my gosh, dude. Like it's just there's so much
- 9:30of this like stubbornness of like, well, this is what we've
- 9:33done all year. It's got us here.
- 9:37No, I think you have to see Judge it hit second or or 5th.
- 9:47Like there's got to be something to move and you swap Soto and
- 9:52you he at least gets some pitches to see.
- 9:58There's got to be something. There's got to be some kind of
- 10:01change. There's got to be something.
- 10:05Not just Trevino coming in for Wells.
- 10:10I think Oswaldo Cabrera is probably the most exciting
- 10:13player on this team. That guy is full of energy.
- 10:16Every time he touches a field, he makes impact.
- 10:20He has so much energy and the bench is never used.
- 10:27The only pinch hit up, the only pinch hitting that ever happens
- 10:30is at the catcher spot. That's it.
- 10:34You just throw the bet that whoever didn't start at catcher,
- 10:37he's going to pinch hit for the catcher at some point in the
- 10:39seventh, hey? Boonies got his guys back.
- 10:42He's he knows they're they're just about to turn a corner.
- 10:47These guys are just about to turn a corner.
- 10:49Give him a few more games, even a even though another week or
- 10:53two and and this team is going to be clicking.
- 10:56I'm telling you, they're going to be clicking.
- 10:58No, the reality of it is, is egos cost this Yankees team in
- 11:03the World Series. It's as simple as that.
- 11:06Egos, all, everything that's being talked about right now on
- 11:10the on the national level, on these broadcasts on social media
- 11:15and these articles that you're reading, it all boils down to
- 11:18the fact that the Yankees lost this World Series, will lose
- 11:22this World Series because egos got in the way.
- 11:27Aaron Boone needs to actually make a decision.
- 11:29And I, I get the fall back as well.
- 11:31He says the same thing all the time.
- 11:33Great. Well, you're in the World
- 11:35Series, so maybe change it up just for a couple of days.
- 11:38Aaron, Aaron Judge, I don't care if he's the MVP.
- 11:44He's he's hitting like 100 right now.
- 11:47So maybe drop him in the lineup that that's it.
- 11:52But you know, let's let's talk about a team that is is pushing
- 11:58all the right buttons. Freddie Freeman right there in
- 12:02the first. I mean this, this guy's
- 12:03unstoppable. I mean, five he what did they
- 12:06say? It was like 40 something days
- 12:10having not hit a home run coming into end of this stretch that
- 12:13he's on this tear that he's on right now.
- 12:15And he has five straight, which puts him in in in the company of
- 12:20George Springer has the only players with five consecutive
- 12:24home runs or five homers in five consecutive games in the World
- 12:29Series. Yep continues to get fastballs
- 12:33in make it make sense, man, I'm sorry I'm struggling.
- 12:41It's the he's incredible. He's he's really incredible.
- 12:47And I think what makes baseball this way is that like you're
- 12:58never going to have your whole lineup rolling at once.
- 13:01Like it's just it's rare. Maybe it's one or two, maybe
- 13:05three games in a year where your whole lineup goes absolutely
- 13:09crazy. The the depth is where it starts
- 13:17to really show everyone that like if Otani's not on, if
- 13:23Mookie isn't doing Mookie things like there's still so many other
- 13:27pieces. I I think you could make your
- 13:32way around the diamond and argue that a lot of these names are
- 13:35like top ten names at their position.
- 13:40I mean, and they're just so deep and like someone's going to get
- 13:43you at some point. And right now it's just Freddie
- 13:47carrying the load. And when you have role players
- 13:51like Tommy Edmond and the NLCS doing what he does, like, it's
- 13:58hard to beat, man. Like, even if the Yankees were
- 14:00were firing on all cylinders, I don't know.
- 14:07The thing with the offenses right now is with the Dodgers,
- 14:11to your point, there's maybe one or two guys that went up to the
- 14:17plate. I would question whether or not
- 14:20they would do anything with the Yankees.
- 14:25There's only one or two guys that went up to the plate I
- 14:28believe can actually do something.
- 14:31That's that's what that's the reality of it.
- 14:34And it's it's it's showing up in the box scores.
- 14:37This isn't some secret, but the like you said, you go around the
- 14:44diamond with with the Dodgers, pretty much anybody that steps
- 14:49up to the plate you think could it at the very least as get is
- 14:52getting extra bases. Yeah, and then you've got the
- 14:56home, the home run threats of pretty much the entire top half
- 14:59of the lineup, maybe 2/3 of the lineup.
- 15:02But with with the Yankees, it I mean, the most predictable and
- 15:08honestly the I I was surprised they didn't they weren't more
- 15:11aggressive with guys like you, because I know Judge got a he
- 15:14got a walk maybe 2 or at least at least had better bats
- 15:18tonight. I mean, I will get into into his
- 15:20continued lack of performance, but he got he had better at
- 15:23bats. I'm surprised.
- 15:24I'm just I'm really surprised at the way they work.
- 15:26Some of these guys like judge, I thought they'd be more
- 15:28aggressive against because why not?
- 15:32And pretty much you go down, you go up and down that lineup.
- 15:34There's no reason not to be ultra aggressive.
- 15:37And I think I think Bueller was able to do that given given how
- 15:41how well he pitched tonight and and then obviously the pen up
- 15:43until the that Verdugo home run. But I mean, the what's I'm just
- 15:52as somebody who doesn't have a dog in the fight, I'm just, I'm
- 15:56increasingly disappointed because this World Series
- 16:00started with so much promise. And now, I mean, we're talking
- 16:05about this thing going 7 after before the series started.
- 16:08And then after game one, we're going, OK, if this is the kind
- 16:10of theatrics that we're going to be dealt, this thing is going 6,
- 16:14if not 7. And now we're on the doorstep of
- 16:17a sweep. We're on the doorstep of a
- 16:22sweep. And like to use a phrase that
- 16:26you've used in in episodes past, like, I feel like as baseball
- 16:30fans, we deserve this. Like, you know, say what you
- 16:34will about the payroll, say what you will about the, the size of
- 16:37the markets, The reality of it is these were the two teams that
- 16:41we were dealt in the World Series powerhouses.
- 16:44You know, the whole, the whole campaign they're pushing with
- 16:47these commercials, the whole two Coast 1 crown thing that you
- 16:50keep seeing. That's that that's what we have
- 16:53before us. And that's what we had at the
- 16:56start of this thing. But it has since become very,
- 17:00very lopsided. And it's just disappointing
- 17:03because it's like, OK, if we're going to talk up this big mess
- 17:06about how, how electric this World Series is going to be.
- 17:10And, and we're we're were dogging on people that don't
- 17:14want to watch the series, saying like, you're going to miss out
- 17:17on on a heck of a show. And, and we were we, you know,
- 17:22baseball fans were on their soapboxes after game one.
- 17:27And, and here we are, like I said, on the doorstep of a
- 17:30sweep. It's just, it's, it's been kind
- 17:33of a let down. And I'm sure, I'm sure Dodgers
- 17:35fans couldn't care less. Like World Series title is going
- 17:38to be a World Series title. But it's just I'm it's the the
- 17:42trajectory has has evolved rapidly and it's, it just hasn't
- 17:47been fun. I'll be honest with you like
- 17:49that, even in the ninth, like what was it?
- 17:52Game two, Game 2, Yankees crawl back a little bit.
- 17:56And we talked about it. You know, we're we're sitting on
- 17:58the edge of our seats. Me again, don't have a dog in
- 18:02the fight. I'm I'm sweating a little bit
- 18:04tonight. It it's just the trajectory of
- 18:06the series, like I said, has just plummeted.
- 18:08And and tonight, even with that Verdugo home run, I'm sitting
- 18:11there going. I mean they they panned.
- 18:14Yeah, they I didn't say anything.
- 18:17And they they they panned the the top step of the Yankees Zug
- 18:20out. And it was just like, I'm not
- 18:25take this as you will, but it just, it seemed like very false
- 18:30hope, very like fake confidence, like you saw soda like pound in
- 18:33the I'm like, dude, you don't, you have no, no confidence in
- 18:37this thing being extended to extras or even even a walk off.
- 18:41So you know it. I I just hope that game four
- 18:47holds a little something before this thing ultimately fizzles
- 18:50out if that's the direction it's headed.
- 18:52But I mean, if, if this just go if, if, if we get game 4 playing
- 18:58out the ways the the way that two and three if if sort of
- 19:02played out, I don't know, don't know.
- 19:08Yeah, man, I I think just kind of going back to the beginning
- 19:12of the series, like we talked about how important game one was
- 19:19for the Yankees specifically just to be able to get to
- 19:26Flaherty first and and get into the bullpen quick and disrupt
- 19:34the game plan. Dave Roberts is hadn't have
- 19:39hadn't have to do anything except just stick to the game
- 19:42plan. That's all it's been the entire
- 19:46series is like, well, this is how we mapped it out and it's
- 19:49going according to plan. It's like I said, man, it's,
- 19:57it's honestly embarrassing and like infuriating because like, I
- 20:02don't, I don't see this team going back unless there's
- 20:08drastic moves in the offseason. Like I I don't really see it.
- 20:14Why? I know you're hurting a little
- 20:16bit because that I, it dawned on me just a few minutes ago that
- 20:20when you said earlier that you felt like this was one of the
- 20:23best rosters ever assembled, for some reason I thought you were
- 20:26talking about the Dodgers, but you were talking about this
- 20:28Yankees team. No, I was definitely talking
- 20:31about the Dodgers. OK, yeah, I was OK because I I
- 20:35was, I was a little, I was a little confused there because,
- 20:38because in one breath you're saying, like, I think this is
- 20:40one of the best rosters ever assembled.
- 20:42Then you're like, well, we need to make drastic changes now.
- 20:44But OK, that makes more sense now.
- 20:45You, you were talking, talking Dodgers, but.
- 20:48No man, it's just like it's I don't even know.
- 20:56Jazz pisses me off like a lot. Just watching him complain and
- 21:03get like overly emotional and he just he hasn't done anything.
- 21:14It's just like a couple things that could have gone a little
- 21:17bit differently would have would have helped a lot.
- 21:22Like, you know, just even like that Volpe foul ball off the
- 21:26wall down the right field line. Like if that stays fair, like
- 21:30you can sit there and say, like there's a couple barrels.
- 21:32Maybe maybe Louise Ross doesn't send Stanton when the Oscars
- 21:38holding the ball and going to be out by 6 steps like.
- 21:44Let's talk about that real quick.
- 21:47Objectively terrible send, but I get, I get it.
- 21:51Like you, you, you have manufactured little to nothing.
- 21:57You got to try and make something happen.
- 21:59I just feel bad. Who?
- 22:00Who's the third base coach for the Yankees?
- 22:02Luis Rojas. Oh yeah, yeah.
- 22:04I I mean, I feel bad for him because it's like.
- 22:07He's not a good third base coach.
- 22:08He's done this, Sure. This year, Yeah, a lot of
- 22:11questionable sins. It's like in his head, he's
- 22:14probably going, OK, this is an opportunity to make something
- 22:16happen. And then he he quickly is
- 22:18reminded who's on, who's on base.
- 22:21And it's like, well, this is going to not work out.
- 22:26The I think Smolt said that like I think the Yankees have had.
- 22:34I think they've only had like 3 back-to-back hits the entire
- 22:39post season. Nate, I think I saw maybe one
- 22:43perfect. I mean say what you will about
- 22:45the home run and I I had jotted this down before pre Verdugo
- 22:49home run. I think I saw maybe one
- 22:51professional at bat from the Yankees tonight.
- 22:54Is that Rizzo single? Rizzo single, 9 pitches.
- 22:58He's actually looked decent. He hasn't looked that bad.
- 23:01For a gimpy old man, he's looked.
- 23:05He's looked OK. Nine pitch AB muscles it out
- 23:08into shallow. What was that right center?
- 23:10I mean, I I saw that and I'm like, wow, it's a little
- 23:13refreshing. I mean the dodgers are just
- 23:15turning the line up over every couple innings.
- 23:18But for the Yankees to put something together that was and
- 23:22by something putting it together, I had one hit.
- 23:25There's no pests like that. These don't have any pesty type
- 23:32guys like you. You would want maybe a Jazz or a
- 23:36Volpe to like adopt that role in some kind of way.
- 23:40They're just all very swing and miss.
- 23:44Lot of strikeout and pull happy and I've watched these, I want
- 23:55to say like these like seasons they get into throughout the
- 24:00season that like it's just this chapter where they all try to do
- 24:06the same thing and they all look the same and there's no one in
- 24:09the lineup that really breaks it up in any way.
- 24:13Like I'm I'm really impressed by Glaber.
- 24:18I think he's had like, he's had really good ABS.
- 24:24Not that it would have changed anything with that strikeout
- 24:28where Soto was on deck like that.
- 24:32That was tough, man. Like that, that hurt.
- 24:34Like they were finally stringing stuff together.
- 24:36They had a chance. And like, if there's ever a
- 24:39moment, you know, it's when Soto can have the bases loaded, like,
- 24:43and we were robbed at that moment on a on a bad strike
- 24:45call. But I can't like sit here and
- 24:48blame the whole game on that. I don't know, man.
- 24:51It's, it's really tough to watch.
- 24:55I'm just, I'm honest. I embarrassed is the only thing
- 24:58I can think of. It's the only word I can I can
- 25:01drum up. Well, I'd be lying if I said it
- 25:07didn't bring me great joy to see hundreds, thousands of Yankee
- 25:15fans in the in the crowd just looking completely lost.
- 25:21The crowd, like really tried, man.
- 25:23Like they tried getting it going.
- 25:25Like they tried getting guys going.
- 25:27It's just like the play just never happened.
- 25:32The play never came. Yeah, bat the hit like nothing
- 25:37ever came. I usually get on the Yankee
- 25:42crowd and, and for good reason at times, but I, I don't know
- 25:47what to tell you guys like I mean, I good for you guys for,
- 25:52for at least giving it what you had tonight based on, you know,
- 25:56the way the series has gone so far and especially the way
- 25:59tonight progressed and and as you as a fan base in in the
- 26:02crowd progressed. But I, I don't know what to say.
- 26:07I, I can't, I can't dog the crowd because I mean the, the
- 26:12this team, this Yankees team gave them nothing to work with.
- 26:17Not I mean nothing. And anytime like you, like you
- 26:21were saying you were, you were on the doorstep of stringing
- 26:25something together, immediately snuffed it out with a strikeout
- 26:29with the just a a non competitive, yeah, non
- 26:34competitive AB whether it be a ground ball, a fly out or or
- 26:37whatever, man, like I said, I mean.
- 26:44I think Walker Buehler has successfully earned himself a
- 26:46contract though, after having a rough year.
- 26:50I think he's, I think he's earned himself a a decent chunk
- 26:54of change. I'm not going to go crazy, but I
- 26:56would say he's he's earned himself a three or four year
- 26:59contract and I would push it to 5060 mil.
- 27:07Yeah, I that's one I would play safe.
- 27:09I for sure has earned like something more than what he
- 27:12would have gotten prior to this the he's last.
- 27:16Yeah, but I this is that's a guy I wouldn't get.
- 27:21I'm not. Saying you, but I'm.
- 27:22Saying like objectively you. Right now could go out and and
- 27:26and have a start like that and earn yourself a couple Millie.
- 27:30What do you think? Against this Yankees offense.
- 27:32I think you got it in, yeah. I'm in.
- 27:37The odds of them putting up some runs against me of judges on the
- 27:41bench is probably greater because he's he probably would
- 27:44hurt the team the least he's on the bench.
- 27:49I really did. I like in my head I was like
- 27:52coming home. Like I can feel the vibes like I
- 27:56can Jeter thrown out first pitch like the Fat Joe OK, can we talk
- 28:03by the. Way can we talk about this like,
- 28:06OK, sure, it's going to be a boom or take whatever.
- 28:09Fine. I I I'll try to acknowledge
- 28:12those when I can. No, but we are boomers because
- 28:14we listened to Fat Joe when we were kids like.
- 28:17No, no, no, no. The kids know who he is.
- 28:18Now, no, no, no, no, no, don't get.
- 28:20Don't get me wrong, this isn't nothing to do with Fat Joe.
- 28:22Grew up on Fat Joe Love me some Fat Joe.
- 28:25All about Fat Joe I saw Carabas said you you may as well just
- 28:29try and give give Fat Joe an AB at this point and maybe maybe
- 28:33turn the tides a little bit yeah a lot of people saying Fat Joe
- 28:36doesn't compare to Ice Cube. We all know this My point is
- 28:40it's not about Fat Joe again. Cannot trust enough.
- 28:43Love me some Fat Joe, however. These are cringey this this
- 28:47pregame. Concert thing that we're doing
- 28:50all of a sudden like that just started.
- 28:53Did we did did we get this game one?
- 28:54I don't, I don't remember this game one.
- 28:56This was Game 2 with Ice Cube and then game three with Fat
- 29:00Joe. I mean, it felt to me like the
- 29:02Yankees were scrambling when, like, Ice Cube came out.
- 29:07Someone at Yankee Stadium was like, oh, we have two days to
- 29:10find somebody. No, no, I, I want to say because
- 29:15the, the, the ice cube thing was sort of last minute for me like
- 29:19coming across that news and I'm pretty sure I saw it in
- 29:22conjunction with that Joe. So I think that announcement may
- 29:24have been made like very close together.
- 29:28Somebody said, well, they couldn't bring Diddy out.
- 29:32Too soon, too soon. Too soon.
- 29:36But yeah, the this whole concept, like I why is this
- 29:40becoming a thing? I don't know if I like it.
- 29:43I mean, you'd have to bring somebody out like an ice cube or
- 29:46somebody of that stature who, like, can legitimately get
- 29:48things going. Otherwise it's just very
- 29:52uncomfortable and it really sets the tone before the game.
- 29:55I think, yeah, I mean, I, I would guess that it's MLB being
- 29:59like, OK, maybe we have some first time viewers and let's see
- 30:04if we can get them a little excited.
- 30:07But like the truth is we never see that at any other point in
- 30:10baseball and it's awkward. There's just no other way to
- 30:16say. It I get it, it's the only time
- 30:18they can really do it. You're not bringing ice cube
- 30:20out, you're not bringing Fat Joe out in the the 7th inning
- 30:22stretch. People are like, well, I'm going
- 30:24to go get some popcorn and peanuts and fat Joe's out there.
- 30:28I'm all the way, just not going to.
- 30:31Was that his song? I didn't even know that was his.
- 30:33Song dude, he's been right now I'm just did he do?
- 30:38What's another one? That needs to I just went over
- 30:40that one. Well, I know lean back, but like
- 30:42there was. Another one.
- 30:43That's the one. That's the one.
- 30:45Surprised we didn't get a little bit of lean back, maybe a little
- 30:47feet little spot of make it rain or something.
- 30:50I mean, interesting, but I'm not here to complain about that.
- 30:54I am here to complain about Aaron Judge though.
- 31:01Nate, how, how many more times do I need to tell you?
- 31:05And I I don't mean this. I don't mean I don't mean any
- 31:08ill will. I'm I'm upset on your behalf
- 31:12because I've seen how you really tried to hold out hope for this
- 31:16guy. But when are we going to accept
- 31:18the fact that this guy is just not cut out for the bright
- 31:22lights? And and when I say bright
- 31:24lights, hear me out. I know he's a Yankee.
- 31:27I know he wears the pinstripes every game.
- 31:29I get that. And I know he's put up historic
- 31:31seasons thus far in his relatively early career, but the
- 31:38postseason is a different beast with this guy.
- 31:42Yeah. I mean, I coming into tonight he
- 31:49had 41 at bats this postseason alone and he had struck out in
- 31:5520 of them. Yeah, this is what I'm saying.
- 32:02Like, I think that's what sucks is I think they'll be back in
- 32:06the postseason. I just, I don't know if getting
- 32:12back to the World Series with like without a full overhaul is
- 32:16is in the future, in the near future, has to be in the near
- 32:19future, literally has to be in the near future.
- 32:24And that's what sucks the most is that like, I think this is
- 32:28going to be unless it's next year, this is going to be like
- 32:32potentially the lasting taste of what we what we have with judge
- 32:40in the World Series or Judge in the post season.
- 32:43And like with I don't know, like I, I know everyone, I know every
- 32:49Yankee fan and everyone in the comments sections like you got
- 32:52to resign Soto, but like this team needs a lot of help.
- 32:55Like there's a lot of holes in this roster and resigning him
- 33:00limits the amount of holes that can be plugged.
- 33:04How much? Because, you know, we, we sort
- 33:06of speculated before the World Series started.
- 33:08How much do you think the way this World Series has gone has
- 33:11impacted Juan Soto's sign ability in the offseason for the
- 33:14Yankees? I think it's definitely hurt,
- 33:19like getting to the if he hadn't won a World Series already, it'd
- 33:24be a different story. The fact that he's won one, the
- 33:27fact that he's done so well and the fact that the rest of the
- 33:30roster has sucked, I think it's hurt.
- 33:35I think it's embarrassing. I think that he has spent pretty
- 33:40much all season in Judge's shadow.
- 33:44He spent the ALCS despite big moments in Stanton shadow.
- 33:51And now it's just like now he's ready to ready to walk.
- 34:00That's what it feels like. I don't know.
- 34:04And part of me is like, I think it's yeah, I'm crazy to say I
- 34:11don't want them to re sign Soto. But like I said, like you got to
- 34:16solve some issues. The back end rotation needs
- 34:20help. The bullpen needs help.
- 34:24Glaber is set to be a free agent for Dugo.
- 34:28So like, we have a hole in left field now.
- 34:31Like Rizzo's one year older DJ Lemayhew seems to be washed up.
- 34:36Like, is Jazz the real answer? Like there's a lot of question
- 34:42Marks and if you go and spend 38 or 42 AAV on Soto like that
- 34:53really handcuffs you and then you have to kind of wait out the
- 34:58stand contracts. You kind of have to wait out the
- 35:02Cole contract. I know there's an opt out there,
- 35:04but like then you're talking about being ready again in three
- 35:09or four years and those guys are pushing 3637 like I we.
- 35:16See it and we still got one game left.
- 35:19We don't need there's one game left in this World Series.
- 35:22I don't need you running me through the the Yankees
- 35:24offseason plans. Just all I'm saying is just I, I
- 35:27think yeah, it's hurt. It's hurt the idea of re signing
- 35:31Soto. I think it's hurt Soto and he
- 35:36and he would be, he'd go across town and get every dollar he
- 35:40asked for and be the guy and be adored and arguably have a
- 35:49better core, a younger core. I'm I, I got to agree with you.
- 35:55I I mean, I think you're crazy if you say out loud like, oh,
- 35:59this team shouldn't read like, or just any team shouldn't
- 36:03resign. Juan Soto, I understand that
- 36:05that sounds crazy, but to your point, it's like.
- 36:10He doesn't solve the issue. Him gone means judge can move
- 36:13back to right field. It means that Jason Dominguez
- 36:17can play every day in center field.
- 36:18It means that they can go get a true left fielder, probably
- 36:21someone, you know, a little bit more athletic.
- 36:23Like you can spend that money on Glaber to bring him back.
- 36:27Like, there's some things that they can do in the rotation.
- 36:30Like, there's a lot. You're talking 40 AAV,
- 36:34potentially 50 towards just one guy.
- 36:37Like, there's a lot you can do with that.
- 36:39And you're talking about a season this year that featured 2
- 36:43rather historic seasons collectively, one of the more
- 36:48historic duo efforts in in baseball history between Judge
- 36:53and Soto. And it was, I mean, we're one
- 36:58short, one game short of it being all for not and and all
- 37:01for not, you know, like. And you can still, you can run
- 37:05these numbers. It just so happens that you
- 37:09know, the, the Soto and Stanton numbers that they, the graphic
- 37:12that they showed them to versus the rest of the lineup, how
- 37:15it's, you know, there's nothing coming from the rest of the
- 37:18lineup. You can do that the whole season
- 37:22with Soto and Judge and then look at the rest of the lineup
- 37:25and it's a drastic change. It's a drastic drop off.
- 37:29It just so happens that now Judge and Stanton have swapped
- 37:32productive spots and Soto remains Soto.
- 37:39The lineup needs help, man. The lineup can't hang, and
- 37:43that's why a Flaherty. A.
- 37:47Half rehabbed Yamamoto and seemed to be washed up.
- 37:55Walker Buehler is carving these guys up and mowing them down.
- 38:01Signups not very good. You combine a not so good lineup
- 38:06with Louise Heel going in Game 4.
- 38:09I think it's got to be Cole. I think it's crazy if it's not.
- 38:13Cole well, they pretty much already said that that's not
- 38:16necessarily an option. I don't see how he threw 87
- 38:20pitches 4 days ago. That's enough rest.
- 38:25I watched CC go ridiculous starts on two days rest in O 9 I
- 38:30watched. I've seen pitchers do this.
- 38:33Dude, we're getting we're getting house money out of the
- 38:38Dodgers effort efforts the next game.
- 38:44Plus, like, I mean, talk about being, I mean, Dave Roberts has
- 38:48to be loving life right now. Like you are literally you can
- 38:53do literally whatever you want. Honestly, not that he would do
- 38:59this, but you could give your line up a day off.
- 39:05Hey, Blake. Yeah, we'll come back.
- 39:06Sure we could. I was thinking that in my head.
- 39:08I was like, I wonder if you give Otani the day off.
- 39:12Give some of those guys a day off, say we'll punt, we'll come
- 39:16back Game 5. Honestly, the Dodgers could punt
- 39:18Game four, give some guys some rest.
- 39:20They probably still sweep. That's that's the way the series
- 39:25is going. That's the way the series going.
- 39:28You could sit Otani, you could sit Bets, you could sit Freddie
- 39:31on that bum ankle. You still go out there, win the
- 39:33game. That's the way this series is
- 39:35going. And that's why, like I said,
- 39:39Dave Roberts has to be loving life right now.
- 39:42And like you were saying, you saw maybe some different arms in
- 39:48the pen. You can toy around with that the
- 39:50next the next night or two if it gets that far.
- 39:55Nate, I'm I'm disappointed in this in the way this series has
- 40:03gone. I mean, I was, yeah, you for
- 40:07obvious reasons, but I was talking my mess on social, man.
- 40:11I I mean, people were like, I don't care about this World
- 40:14Series and I'm like, OK, then go do what you're going to do.
- 40:18Honestly, those people are kind of coming out, coming out
- 40:23looking like the, well, the smarter minds.
- 40:27Here I did see Yankees in seven, so that prediction is still
- 40:33technically alive. You think, you think Boone.
- 40:37You think Boone is showing them all like the Red Sox, 04
- 40:40documentaries in the in the clubhouse tonight.
- 40:46He's done, you laugh. He's done that already.
- 40:50He literally he he what? What was the context?
- 40:53Was this last? Was it like last postseason or
- 40:56something? No.
- 40:57We weren't in it last year. OK, was it 2 years ago?
- 41:00I swear he he's done this before where he was talking, he was
- 41:04talking to the guys in the clubhouse about the O 4 Red Sox,
- 41:09somehow forgetting that, forgetting who was on the other
- 41:12side of that. But but to your point, it could
- 41:20go 7. It could go 7.
- 41:22You're not wrong, that's still in the mix.
- 41:26I said Dodgers in six looking like an idiot at this point.
- 41:30But I don't know man, I guess I guess buckle up for one possible
- 41:37possibly 11 more baseball game this year.
- 41:43Sad, sad. I thought we were going to make
- 41:46it to Halloween. I don't.
- 41:47I don't even think we're going to make it to Halloween.
- 41:51Yeah. Respect to the Dodgers though.
- 41:54They understand the baseball shouldn't be played in November.
- 41:56Baseball wrap it up by Halloween and they said we got you.
- 42:03Baseball shouldn't be played in March.
- 42:07Like real, Like baseball accounts shouldn't be played in
- 42:09March and shouldn't be played November.
- 42:14That's just me. Yeah, take some of these off
- 42:17days out of the post season, please.
- 42:22Just a few. We got buckle up baseball fans,
- 42:30like I said, we got maybe one game left.
- 42:32So soak it, soak it up, soak it in, enjoy it and give me a give
- 42:41me a prediction for Game 4. I don't want to.
- 42:45Give me a prediction. I'm.
- 42:46Not saying anything. Because for the last week, it
- 42:52seems Jeter, Jeter and a Rod think that Judge is going to
- 42:57bust out. So there's nothing wrong with
- 43:02with maybe running with a prediction that that doesn't
- 43:05really pan out because that's what these guys are doing too.
- 43:07And and they played in the big leagues.
- 43:13I think the Yankees win Game 4. I think.
- 43:21I think Soto Verdugo get a Bop each.
- 43:34Tommy in the chat says though Tony goes 3 for four with two
- 43:36homewards and five ribbies. And I think Freddie gets the
- 43:40record for six. I think he gets it.
- 43:44I like it. I'm going to say the one
- 43:48prediction I'm absolutely counting on if if if you're if
- 43:53you're a. Judging is going to hit 2.
- 43:55If you're a betting fan, no, not even hitting, hitting two.
- 43:58He. He.
- 44:01I didn't say what he's going to hit, I just said he's going to
- 44:03hit 2. He's going to make contact with
- 44:05two balls tomorrow. Write it in.
- 44:10Carve it in stone. It's either happening.
- 44:13He's either Boone's either doing it tonight or he's doing it
- 44:15first thing in the morning because it's his favorite thing
- 44:18to do. My prediction for game 4, Judge.
- 44:22He's getting penciled in at the three hole.
- 44:25That's my prediction for game four.
- 44:29What a joke, dude. Be like, have read the room,
- 44:33have some feel. Booney, Booney.
- 44:38My goodness. Yeah, I'm.
- 44:41I'm going to say that The Yank. Nope.
- 44:46I'm walking that back. This this thing's over.
- 44:49This thing's. Over tonight, yeah.
- 44:52First came back home in this series yeah, you had to come out
- 44:56and and and put something up and like I said, I don't even count
- 44:59that Verdugo home run you. This may as well have been a
- 45:02shut out. You did nothing that I I have no
- 45:05hope for 212. One would have like actually
- 45:08felt decent. Like I would have felt like
- 45:12decent if the series was 213. O is devastating, especially in
- 45:19the way it happened. I feel like for our first time
- 45:27viewers, you stop. Should we Should we say
- 45:30something to the first time viewers?
- 45:32What are you doing? Just preparing.
- 45:36Stop, get no. This is a family program.
- 45:41What should we say to the 1st? Time viewers first time viewers
- 45:45probably listen to this thinking I'm some sort of Yankee or some
- 45:49closet Yankees fan I'm I'm really not I'm just the the
- 45:53reality of this series is and and we'll we'll kind of wrap it
- 45:56here the the reality of this series is that the.
- 45:59Yankees are some type of Yankee. Yeah, the the Yankees are solely
- 46:05responsible for the, the, the tone of this World Series, the
- 46:09trajectory of this World Series. The Dodgers are just doing the
- 46:12the Dodgers are just checking the boxes.
- 46:14Dodgers are taking it. Anybody.
- 46:15OK, this is what we have to do. We have to strike Judge out
- 46:18again, OK, We have to oh, there's a runner on base.
- 46:21Let's drive him in. OK.
- 46:23The Yankees are responsible for for the reason this series is,
- 46:27like I said, on the doorstep of a sweep.
- 46:29The Dodgers are just doing what they're asked, and that's to to
- 46:33to handle a pretty mediocre team right now, so.
- 46:38You're wrong, guy. I've got, I've got Dodgers in
- 46:41four. This thing's over, Sharpie.
- 46:46We'll see you next year. I got no fight in me.
- 46:54Tried using her pizza oven for the first time tonight and the
- 47:02and it and it burned because it's stuck to the stone and I
- 47:05couldn't spin it because the dough on one side was so doughy
- 47:09and then the other side burned. Poor kid can't catch a break.
- 47:13And it was. I'm not kidding.
- 47:15It's about 12 seconds after Stanton got hosed at the plate
- 47:18that I just see my pizza going up in flames.
- 47:21Are you serious? I'm not kidding, I'm not.
- 47:26Kidding, we can't even eat a pizza.
- 47:29I wish. I really, really wish I was
- 47:32getting. Oh, no.
- 47:34All right. Well, we Yeah.
- 47:37We need to get we need to get you to bed.
- 47:38I. Need to go find some cookie
- 47:40dough? Crush that tough.
- 47:47It's a good look. That's rough.
